" Wukong doesn’t love Macaque but wants to love him" oof this makes me emotional. On one side we have he doesnt love macaque (not sure if you meant just romantic or if all forms of love), which is understandable but still hurts.

But on the other, he wants to love him. Oh that takes my breath away, because allos cant control who you fall in love with, but wukong wants to love mac. He is making the concious choice to try to love him, to make the effort, and isnt that by itself love in a way

It is love.

And I meant it in all forms of love — romantic included.

He doesn’t love him—but he wants to love him which is already a step towards achieving that.

But it’s hard.

Something about writing non-allo dynamics just hits different at times because it’s not always easy to just hold someone’s hand and say “I love you”—Wukong gives me such aromantic vibes it’s insane because he already struggles with his emotions when it comes to platonic (familial) love, imagine how hard it must be to try and hold Macaque’s hand when he’s unsure of himself
