"This year is going to be different," I said, straightening my tie around my collar.
"How so?" She asked.
"This year is the first year I can try out for the quidditch team," I said. "We are going to go to more parties and finally stop being losers."
She rolled her eyes. "Sure, Wrenna, somehow magically, we are going to become popular and cool because you might make the quidditch team."
"Hey, we're wizards." I smiled. "Magically doing stuff is the whole reason we are attending Hogwarts."
The train's whistle blew, signaling we were almost there. I had been dreaming about going to Hogwarts ever since I was a kid. I would wear my mom's old robes and run around the house pretending I was exploring the school's halls. Last year when I finally got here, things didn't exactly go as planned. I was sorted into Slytherin, which was to be expected. My mom had been a Slytherin, as was my brother. But after what happened with my brother when he was here... I didn't exactly get a warm welcome. When I met Amelia, a Hufflepuff, I was surprised she had even talked to me. But, that didn't help her social standings either. We quickly became outcasts.
Amelia pulled on her black robe and clipped on her yellow and black tie. Her long blonde hair was pulled up into a high ponytail. Our first year, she was a little chubby in the face, but over the summer, it thinned out, exposing her beautifully sharp cheekbones and honey brown eyes. I could see her being popular if I wasn't her best friend.
I glanced at the window through the reflection. I could see my long brown hair that laid carelessly over one shoulder. I had gotten taller and curvier over the summer. My sun kissed skin was clear for once. My two dark green eyes stared back at me, my face etched with worry. I was putting on a brave face for Amelia. Sure, I could try out for the quidditch team, but there was no guaranteed spot. My brother used to always say I was good. Good enough to make it as a first-year. But no first year had gotten a spot since Harry Potter.
The train finally rolled to a stop, and the whole train car began murmuring with excitement. I grabbed my bag and followed Amelia out of our cabin. I saw familiar faces in the crowd, but none offered me a smile or a wave. Which was typical. First years mingled around the hallway, awkward and not sure what to do.
"Excuse me." One tapped me on the shoulder.
She had wild red hair, and her face was peppered with freckles. "Do you know where we are supposed to meet the boats to take us across the lake?"
Before I could answer, I was shoved from behind, my shoulder hitting the window roughly.
"I wouldn't talk to her." An annoyingly familiar voice laughed. "She's a Drago."
Martell was a third-year Gryffindor student who tended to pick on me rather than ignore me like everyone else. His dark brown hair curled just above his shoulders. His dark brown eyes promised vengeance in the light. His thin lips were curled into a smirk. He would have been cute if he wasn't such a jerk all the time.
"A what?" The girl asked.
"Haven't you heard? Her older brother released a curse upon the school and got himself killed in the process three years ago." He said.
"Shut up, Martell." Amelia rose to my defense.
"And look, little Amelia always defending the snake," Martell said, and his friends laughed.
"Come on," He slid past me, making sure not to touch me, and ushered the girl down the car. "I'll show you where to go."
His friends followed after him leaving Amelia and me alone in the car.
"Don't listen to him, Wrenna. He doesn't know what he is talking about." She said reassuringly.
"Yeah, sure," I said, walking down the car and out onto the platform.
As I gazed upon the castle that was lit a fire by candlelight, I sighed. The only problem was, Martell did know what he was talking about. My brother released a curse upon the school that still haunted the halls to this day. They almost had to close down the school twice last year. But that was a part of my plan too. I was going to rid the school of the curse and restore honor to my family name. Even if I died trying.

Piper: Who else is hiding in the laundry room trying to listen to Alice and Wren's conversation? I'm in the laundry basket.
Kelsie: I'm in the washing machine.
Max: I'm in the closet.
Piper: We accept you, Max.
Max: No, I'm literally in the closet.
Kelsie: Love is love.

Coby: I finally worked up the courage to tell Piper she's pretty and I only threw up twice.
Wren: Did you puke ON her?
Coby: That isn't important. What matters is that she knows how I feel now.

Uriah: Last night, Bella and I went to a party, and there was this girl that kept openly making passes at me.
Bella: That’s just the reality of dating attractive men, they’re going to get hit on. Here is how I calmly handled the situation.
Wren: Don’t tell me you stabbed her-
Bella: I stabbed her.

Wren: Joey and Carter kissed while we were at the mall and I said “That’s disgusting” a little too loud and had to clarify to the entire Claire’s that I’m not homophobic, I just don’t like seeing my brother kiss people.
Uriah: You don’t seem like the type to go to Claire’s.
Carter: She’s not. I am though. They had cure little skull earrings.

Once I asked my brothers if they had any ghost stories, and Joey was like, “Well, I used to live in an old hospital room with a bathroom faucet that always leaked.” And then Sam said, “One time I saw the devil.”
