First up is ThrowBack Era Wrestling tomorrow at Cafe Santa Rosa! I'm not quite sure who I'll face, but I have been cleared for action after Will Kennedy not only embarrassed me by cheating to win but also broke a few teeth that required surgery. Now he has my jacket and I will fight tooth and nail to get it back, no matter who I have to go through in the process.
Next up is High Impact Wrestling (HIW) on June 11th at The Splinter Collective where I face off against the bossman of H.I.W himself, Ricky Flash, for the H.I.W Tucson City Championship. This will be the second title I've gone after and this time I will not let it slip from my reach!
I read that Sonny Kiss was released from AEW while I was at the grocery store and I felt like crying. I just want her to succeed and be appreciated not be treated like a token to bring out for ally brownie points.
Ultimately, I hope this means that she signs with a company that values her and showcases her talents in their entirety. I truly wish her all the best and can't wait to see her wrestling again.
okay i still think about wembley all of the time, but like, they OBVIOUSLY had so many storylines set up that were hastily scrapped because of injury. hayter, saraya, pac, nigel vs bryan. they just keep fucking over their biggest events and culmination of storylines because they can't keep their roster safe, and they can't write long-running stories with pay-offs months away because with this track record they Know people will be injured by then. not to mention all of the workhorses that shoulder the belts for a week or two just to drop it to someone "important", needing to cover for everyone who's injured over and over. the way they'll give the belt to someone for a cheap pop not caring that it fucks up most ongoing storylines, and then resort to them dropping the belt immediately afterward. it's insane to me that they don't do more about it because at this point it's actively hurting business - why get invested in the set-up of a new story, why buy tickets to the biggest event of the year, when it'll fizzle out like the outcasts, the devil and literally everything else
On the subject of silly little experiments, here’s another one! I still struggle with foreshortening and painting so I don’t think this turned out perfectly, but it gets across what I was going for. I don’t watch tv very often anymore but I ended up watching Oshi no Ko because I got super obsessed with Idol and the plot intrigued me, and aside from one major caveat I actually really enjoyed it! Hoshino Ai, you’re a real one *
few things are as touching as the appreciation hardworking, heartfelt, passionate, dedicated young people express when you support them. sometimes this appreciation is shown by those young people sending you unedited footage of their professional wrestling ambulance matches and it fucking rules.
The way I've always seen Kenny come off as a drug for Okada after their first singles match. Like man got addicted to this very particular, super crazy high that he can't get from anyone else so he's got to have more but also it's that premium gourmet stuff so he uses it sparsely lest the affect starts decreasing. Denying himself as much as possible and only giving in to his cravings once the itch becomes too much to ignore.
Funny how The Young Bucks, from what I've gathered as a casual fan, have always incorporated comedy in their wrestling or have not shunned the less than serious aspects of wrestling, and because of this people have taken to disparaging them, their gimmick and their show 'Being The Elite'. Despite their wrestling, their gimmick AND their show being immensely popular and clearly enjoyed by a multitude of people The Bucks are still discounted as performers and told to grow past the comedy act and be "real wrestlers" (which in this sport is an oxymoron but I'ma let it rock). So, for not the first time, they're turning heel. What does this entail? Infighting with their closest friend, darker gear, and no more BTE.
But now, folks are in the comments of BTE, on twitter, forums, and blog posts lamenting the unceremonious ending of 'Being The Elite' as if they had no part in this decision. Kayfabe or not, it had to be frustrating to do what you've done for the last twenty years, see it get recognition and then have that recognition turn to ashes in your mouth because every little booking decision that doesn't go the way that fans want ends up being your fault. So then you're special thing, which you've been doing for your entire life gets eroded by this perception of yourselves Super Evil Ultranarcassist Bookers that you cannot shake no matter what. Someone gets fired, you get booed. Someone gets injured and pulled from a match, you get booed. One of your (former) members refuses to put himself over and...you/he gets booed. Eventually, I'd get tired of it. I'd get tired of people claiming that they HAVE to watch my silly little YouTube show in order to understand the storylines of wrestlers who aren't even ON the show and very rarely ever have been, or of people claiming I'm booking myself as a champion when my win-loss record in the company I co-founded says otherwise. I'd be absolutely exhausted at those same people being disappointed in my win-loss record and almost daring me to use my power to book myself and my comrades better but I know if I do this then I will earn the ire of these discerning fans so I keep losing to be safe. I double down: cancel BTE, no official statements, no ending episode, just a tweet from a known associate going ,"Yeah they said they good on that shit fr fr...they might talk about it later idk".
It's likely because I can be a very spiteful person at times but even if this is all a work, I support The Young Bucks in taking a step back from BTE and any other extracurricular thing they do to connect with their fans and further their stories. No more Being The Elite until yall appreciate what it is and what it's done for the company.
