hello there!

following through with my tradition of posting a new writeblr intro every single year, here we go – a brand new reintro where i talk a little bit about myself and my current writing projects. so, here we go, onto all that good stuff!

about me

i'm ann, a twenty-year-old writer from kerala, currently based in kochi

i live with my husband, who is a musician, and lead a very creative life of sorts

i write literary fiction and poetry

my wips

i recently finished a litfic novel called dairy whiskey and am editing it right now, hoping to get it ready for agent submissions in a month or two. i put my heart and soul and blood and bones into it, so if you’d like to dive into the story and read a few excerpts, you can check out the intro here and every other excerpt here!

rock salt is my main wip since finishing dairy whiskey. it is the story of identical twins rain and norah as they move out for college and navigate their lives on their own, which ends up in them growing apart. if you like complicated sibling relationships and the struggles of growing up, you’ll love this book!

i so badly want to start writing it, but i don’t think i’ll be able to until dairy whiskey is in a more secure position. so, there probably won’t be any updates for a few months, but you can read the wip intro here.

this is a gay vignette novel that i started writing back in 2021 as a source of personal joy. this is the story of how a singer-songwriter desperate for normalcy meets a boy with a heart heavy with guilt. this is the story of how they fall in love and it’s honestly quite wholesome <3

i haven’t worked on this book in so long and i’ve been trying to sneak some words in, but it feels like the book needs a fresh start. i don’t know, i just might start it all over again. but until then, here’s an outdated wip intro.

green room is a literary/experimental memoir documenting my teenage years as a writer. it is a deep dive into craft and how it affects life, particularly how it moulds you as a person. i haven’t started drafting this yet, but here’s a wip intro for now.

Hello! After some time of being inactive, here's a small reintroduction from me:) And I also guess that this is the exact aesthetic I aimed for. Finally!

Favourite games: The Witcher trilogy, DreadOut, Condemned: Criminal Origin, TES V: Skyrim (also slowly getting into Oblivion), Sleeping Dogs, Darkwood, anything made by Fromsoftware (a fanboy)

Writer info:

Genres I write in: horror, mystery, dark fantasy inspired by world mythologies, dark comedy, my wips might have a touch of detective stories to them, too^^

Tropes I use(d): found family, animal companion, rivals to best friends, rivals to friends to lovers (used only once as I don't like romance that much, why it appears in my wips is a looong story), orphaned MC

POV: 3rd person, multiple POVs with main focus on 1 to 3 characters max

I tend to write in quite a flowery language and in poetic prose, but since English isn't my first language it can come across slightly awkward (TL; DR I do plenty of updates and edits to my posted stuff)

My wips are inspired and sometimes directly refer to a certain mythology, such as Slavic (this one is also most widely used as I like to read local legends of Serbia, Russia, the Czech and Slovak Republic, Ukraine, Poland and so on), Chinese, Nordic, Japanese and Indonesian. HOWEVER I love to create my own mythos and so the world is a blend of characters directly based of a mythological figure exploring environement both familiar and completely new to them. (I've always been intruiged by a question what would happen if world mythologies bumped into each other and what would be the consequences of it.)

My own mythos are pretty much eldritch-like oriented with a significant touch of folk horror. I'm not going to lie, I'm a FromSoftware fanboi, I see Bloodborn or Kuon, I'm going feral and so is my inspiration.

There are many occuring themes about substance abuse, addiction, health issues, gore, extreme violence, sexual assault/rape and other strongly 18+ stuff, so I'd appreciate if only 20+ y.o. people (or be at least 18, really) follow this account. In other words - PLENTY OF NSFW THAT'S NOT DIRECTED AND INTENDED FOR MINORS.

WIPs

Not all from my wips have a proper introduction (a.k.a. there's no link for their Tumblr WIP intro). BUT I do plan on doing them, so expect the links to be updated. These are just quick summaries of them.

The Flight of the Western Crane - A dark retelling of Journey to the West where Sun Wukong tries to protect the young Buddhist monk Tang Sanzang while meeting a duo of a stranded Princess of the Great Tiger Kingdom and her foreign advisor Lady Wolf Witch. Their common journey starts out as an innocent one. However, it soon evolves into a dangerous chase where the Monkey King must face the worst of his opponents.

City of False Gods - Hybrid of wuxia, mystery and film noir genres set on a fabricated island near Hong Kong. The fiction evolves around the Monkey King who's, after his yet another imprisonment, woken up to a strange world of 1920s where his powers are under a radar by the local supernatural cop unit and is forced to live among the poorest while trying to solve strange happenings in the city. City of False Gods also serves as a sequel to The Flight of the Western Crane.

Empire of Dust - Historical dark fantasy with horror elements set in 330 Constantinople. The story follows two little sisters one of whom is considered neither dead nor alive. One day, Ulfrika sets out for a strange task in order to provide for her dear little sister. Her pure-hearted intention, though, may lead her down the rabbit hole which may devour her sanity.

Ratpeople - An outline idea for a standalone story involving Ulfrika and her time in the Wild West, where the soulless hybrid discovers an eerie town in the desert while chasing after a man who stole one of her horses. The story is related to weird western (mostly its horror and fantasy elements and no sci-fi stuff) and mystery genres and also mythology related things.

Boy Who Chased a Dragon - Another outline story outside the universe of The Legends of No-man's Land. The story takes place on an island of eternal summer and flower bloom, where mythical creatures live peacefully. One day, Dado* loses his pet dragon, a creature his sister gave him for his 8th birthday, in a harsh storm. Now, he sets out for a long journey to retrieve his best friend from the claws of the cruel Ember King.

*because this is still in a process of an outline/1st draft, I'm still not sure about the name, it's only a working name for the protagonist

Hello there! Call me Ink (she/her pronouns). I'm a black female writer in my late 20s. I've been on writeblr since 2018 (according to my ~ archive ~) and I've probably made a couple intros since then, but nothing quite as organized/formal as this so - here we are!

I primarily write contemporary/literary fiction (which I know isn't super prevalent on writeblr so happy to bond with any fellow litfic writers). I enjoy writing deeply introspective, character-driven stories (I think because, I'm learning, I'm a deeply inspective person lol) so if that's your cup of tea then check out my WIP(s) below :)

I'm a dual-degree bio graduate student so I spend my days pipetting shit in a lab

a coming-of-age story about a 17-year-old aspiring artist whose artwork is deteriorating as she struggles to come to terms with the death of her father a year prior. as the story unfolds she meets a series of new people who force her to contend with the bleak reality she's settled for. the emotional journey that results opens up her world, and ultimately unearths a shocking truth.

Untitled Romance WIP (Contemporary fiction) | no tag or intro just yet

a story about a black female physician assistant living a life of self-sabotage as she jumps from one unfulfilling "relationship" to another. she's been convinced, by society and past experiences, that someone as "dark" as her needs to settle for any form of affection she can get. fairly tale love stories with happy endings don't happen to people like her. But when her crush from high school who unknowingly started her streak of self-sabotage suddenly reappears in her life, she has to decide whether it's worth giving him another chance.

heyo, enchant over here! i’m a writer, who writes original stuff and fanfics! it’s been a long while since my previous re-intro, and i decided for a new one. just the same basics, just a new post.^^

i’m a hybrid sort of writeblr and a semi-fandom blog. however, i tag appropiately as much as possible. whether it’s salty or positive. i try writing as much as i can! yet i also take breaks when necessary. my motto in general about storytelling is: write what you want to read. and i write any concept stuck in my mind.

my main fandoms are adaptations of marvel comics and dc comics. a big fan of characters, who don’t get enough appreciation (whether from fandom or canon). i love canon divergence and AUs bc it gives me more freedom. i enjoy them yet i’m also aware of their problems especially with the former.

top-tier tropes to me are: chaotic found family, enemies to friends to lovers, subverted  expectations, reluctant allies to best friends to lovers, exhausted™ protagonists, strong friendships, find recovery after all the pain, morally grey characters, and self-discovery.^^  

i have some active original stories, which are listed below.

Blasted Scorn: A group of pirates somewhat succeed in their latest quest, only for knights to be their accidental stowaways. They’re assigned to search for a missing  princess, who’s been captured. Dread Pirate  Titanrin strikes a deal with them in exchange for valuables.  Along the way and dozens of broken bones, this team contemplates on whether  this was their worst decision or not.

True Devotion that Remains Constant: A ballet dancer encounters difficulties while trying to find her own path. A painter is only trying to thrive after escaping a difficult situation. An awkward circumstance leads them  to meet in college, where they slowly learn about each other.

Lines of A Script to Ignore: An unemployed graduate struggles on getting a job as she adjusts from getting back from abroad. A scriptwriter slash theatre actor seeks to share her story while dealing with setbacks. They reconnect as they see each other, forming a bargain that’ll provide help for both of them.

I wanted to update my writeblr intro so here we are. Also, I want to thank the community real quick for being - delightful. Really, I have learned a lot and still learning. Thank you for everything!

What's next? I have many creative projects in store which will take time (I am slow and also life is a tool). First on the list is a remaster of the Creation and Destruction series. I also have a WIP I plan to traditionally publish in my mother tongue. Fun... and terrifying.

My name is Morrigan.  I have an addiction to sci-fi and fantasy, and a deep seated hatred for “insta-love” and melodrama.   I write mostly fantasy at the moment, but there might be some sci-fi popping up eventually.

WRITEBLR RE-INTRO

Hi everyone! It’s Andie here! Been awhile since I made something like this. So, I figured that, seeing as I’m trying to be a little bit more active in the community now, I should probably tell you guys a bit about myself and my current wips!

Like I said, I’m Andie. I’m 20 y/o, and I use they/them pronouns. Fun fact about me, I have seven cats and I love them so much, even when they’re actively ruining my life.

I write a mix of fanfiction and original fic (although right now I’m focusing predominantly on the fanfic side of things.) And here are some of the things I’m really into -->

HORROR!! HORROR HORROR HORROR!! I love the spooks. I love the scares. I love the psychological aspects. I love big scary monsters. I love it when the monster was yourself all along. Just don’t talk to me about mental illness in horror bc that upsets me greatly.

Speaking of horror, I mentioned in the above, but I love big, scary monsters. Especially if they’re not actually as scary as they may initially appear. Big scary monsters, my beloveds. If I could kiss them all on the mouth (with their consent) I would.

I love magic. Not necessarily a big high fantasy fan, but I love magic in other things. I love seeing different magic systems, I always think they’re just so cool.

Soft, cheesy romance. I’m not ashamed to admit it. I’m basic as fuck. I enjoy mediocre rom-coms ft. two conventionally attractive white leads every now and then. Deep in my heart, underneath all the big, scary monsters and pure, unfiltered rage, I am a sucker for a good romance.

The Infected Woods: A fun horror story about three boys who get lost in the woods, and the one girl who’s determined to find them. Currently on hiatus, though I’m hoping to work on it again in the near future.

FANFICTION:

A Man of Mostly Bones: For all you Bones fans still out, I bring you my season 3 Bones rewrite ft. my own ocs for your viewing pleasure. It’ll hopefully one day be part of a larger series where I rewrite the rest of the series, but for rn I’m starting with one season. Currently in the first draft.

Tyrants WIP: A Power Rangers Jungle Fury fanfic that I’ve talked about a handful of times of my blog now, and plan on talking about a lot more, so I figure it deserves a spot on the post for the amount of brain rot it gives me. Currently in the first draft. (Main Project rn)

theo and ollie is a low-stakes twine game based on my two sweet cats. the reader/player navigates a cozy studio apartment on a sunday morning, tending to theo and ollie's needs until they earn access to the cats' secret worlds. both worlds offer an experience inspired by the personalities of the real-life ollie and theo, who are very much a sun/moon combo. the vibes are soft, whimsical, exploratory.

WRITEBLR RE-INTRODUCTION lol (because I'm going to be more active on this account than the actual writeblr)

Hiya there! The name's Midnight and I'm 17 and an aspiring author! I've loved reading sci-fi and fantasy ever since I was a kid, and thanks to my dad getting me into the game, I'm also a self-proclaimed D&D nerd as well lol I have four WIPs going on right now, and they all take place in my fictional world I have, called the Melodiverse! Before I list them off though, here's what you can expect from this blog (because it's a hybrid of a primary blog + a writeblr LOL) 1. Obviously some rambles abt the Melodiverse's worldbuilding 2. 🎶 THE MELODY BLADE SAGA 🗡️

An four book urban fantasy series with the long-standing "chosen one" trope, and two young kid villains! Word count for Book 1 is projected to be 51k as of currently!

Book 1: Midnight and the Gift of the Melody Blade

Summary: A wolf-human boy named Midnight tries to keep a mysterious blade that he recieves on his doorstep one morning secret, as he uncovers the source of strange arcane events disrupting the city, and a young villain who wants the blade for malicious purposes. Synopsis: After a wolf-human boy named Midnight recieves a strange gift from the goddess of his world, otherworldly events pull him into pressuring situations where he's subconsciously told to keep this gift a secret. He doesn't know why, up until he notices a mysterious young villain and a familiar sidekick stalking him. It turns out the sidekick, who was the boy's alternate personality, was charmed by the villain into taking his side. With the threat of corruption moving ever closer, the boy must brandish his newfound blade whilst learning new skills, and restore his realm…

Characters:

Midnight - the main protagonist, and wielder of the Melody Blade, who is a complete pacifist up until Twilight teaches him that not all fights can be solved with peace.

Ambrosia - a side character, and Midnight's girlfriend.

Twilight - a mentor, of sorts, and Midnight's brother who runs the fencing team at Midnight's high school! Staticlight - Midnight's personification of his negative thoughts and fears, as well as being in love with a Night-Demon called Dev over their mutual bond in chaos. One of Dev's sidekicks.

Summary:

Stars, Bits, and Bytes follows the adventures of two pilots (Arietta and Quintus) and two young kids (Ottava and Lyric) along their journey to a brand new world, escaping the destruction of their home planet, Terra Melodiae on their spacecraft Titania (which has a cranky AI assistant.) But they have to dodge asteroids, fight space pirates and try not to lose their way as they navigate to this new world. 

When they get to this new world however, they must get accustomed to the strange society that has built up there with robots and magic as far as the eye can see and very strict military force that protects the planet from invaders. 

However through information passed down by the general, the group finds out that Emperor Tetrachord and his army of Silencers wants to destroy this new planet. Even though the two kids are scared to operate the ship themselves and steer it into a great battle, Arietta and Quintus are confident. The four of them must team up and use all the skills they have to stop Emperor Tetrachord from ruining this new world and find a way back to their own home planet.

hey there! with work and life i fell away from writing and writeblr for a while, so i figured it was time to start over again with a fresh blog!

— about me —

i'm erika, a 24 year old autistic nonbinary (she/they) lesbian from the us. my old urls were solariswrites and briarinked....neither one of which really clicked for me. i've always been more of a lurker, but i also say third time's the charm!

i'm a hobby writer first and foremost. between life and a full time job that often leaves me worn out motivation comes and goes in waves. in other words, i'm just here for a good time.

my favorite genres are mainly sci-fi and fantasy. i also enjoy crime fiction, cyberpunk, road trips, artistic protagonists, and stories set in the '80's and '90's among other things.

at any given moment i'm rotating through a bunch of stories and crumbs of ideas.

i adore making bonus content for my wips. graphics, moodboards, playlists and memes? you name it i've thought of it.

until they develop strange powers out of the blue, with no clue as to what brought them on.

until a man comes to town, dripping with all the charm of a snake oil salesman, claiming he's got the answers they're looking for.

until they're sent running for their lives. the last thing they've thought they'd ever do.

“Sadie’s Search For The Missing Necklace:” A kidlit fantasy book inspired by Gwyneth Rees’ Fairy Dust series and Daisy Meadows’ Rainbow Fairy series. As of this writing, I just pitched this book to a traditional publisher and (hopefully) they’ll let me know by late April/early May latest if they said yes to it or not! Wish me luck!

Current WIPS:

A fantasy novel inspired by the video game series King’s Quest. I am currently still writing its first draft and I’ve spoken a bit on this blog about how it’s going so far. I just finished writing the first draft in mid-February, so this WIP is on a break for now while I work on...

"An Engagement To Die For:” The sequel to “Winner Takes All,” the murder mystery that I self-published last year (June 2022)! I am finally, FINALLY, starting to do more edits again after beta reader rounds have finished! 

I also have other novels I’m writing during this time, butttt I won’t tell you what they are yet because they’re very early in the writing process. XD

Fanfiction:

You most likely know of my writing fanfiction for The Last Story, Bravely Default/Second, and Escape The Night.

I’m currently posting chapters for a The Last Story/Super Smash Bros. crossover fanfic called “Super Smash Bros: The Next Story!” You can read it on either Fanfiction.net or Archive Of Our Own! New chapters come weekly!

heyo, enchant over here! i’m a writer, who writes original stuff and fanfics! this isn’t my first re-intro, however, i wanted a revamp. and here it is.^^

i’m a hybrid sort of writeblr and a semi-fandom blog. however, i tag appropiately as much as possible. whether it’s salty or positive. i try writing as much as i can! yet i also take breaks when necessary. my motto in general about storytelling is: write what you want to read. and i write any concept stuck in my mind.

my main fandoms are adaptations of marvel comics and dc comics. a big fan of characters, who don’t get enough appreciation (whether from fandom or canon). i love canon divergence and aus bc it gives me more freedom. i enjoy them yet i’m also aware of their problems especially with the former.

top-tier tropes to me are: chaotic found family, enemies to friends to lovers, subverted expectations, reluctant allies to best friends to lovers, exhausted™ protagonists, strong friendships, find healing after all the pain, morally grey characters, and self-discovery.^^

i have two active original stories, which are listed below.

Blasted Scorn: A group of pirates somewhat succeed in their latest quest, only for knights to be their accidental stowaways. They’re assigned to search for a missing princess, who’s been captured. Dread Pirate Titanrin strikes a deal with them in exchange for valuables. Along the way and dozens of broken bones, this team contemplates on whether this was their worst decision or not.

True Devotion that Remains Constant: An aspiring ballet dancer encounters difficulties while trying to find her own path. A painter is only trying to thrive after escaping a difficult situation. An awkward circumstance leads them to meet in college, where they slowly learn about each other.

Lines of A Script to Ignore: An unemployed graduate struggles on getting a job as she adjusts from getting back from abroad. A scriptwriter slash theatre actor seeks to share her story while dealing with setbacks. They reconnect as they see each other, forming a bargain that’ll provide help for both of them.

Going by Steph now, still 29 and a lesbian who’s writing high fantasy novels! I’ve been writing for over a decade now, working on developing my fantasy realm called Dracrie. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that my current WIP is my hopefully debut novel, Seafoam:

I have a ton more books within me, and I’m hoping to eventually play around with the genre a little by adding murder mysteries, thrillers, and maybe even horror to my fantasy stories, and I’m always a fan of developing a good romantic subplot within the story.

Writeblr Re-intro + Update!!

Hello everyone!!! Today I got a random reminder on my phone that said "writeblr" and I was like "???" and then I remembered, it's MY HECKIN 2-YEAR ANNIVERSARY?!?! Whaaaaat?! That is crazy! I...actually don't have anything planned...so I'm here to give a big thanks to all my followers for supporting me these past two years! I love y'all (platonically, don't get the wrong idea lol)! I wasn't here for a lot of those 2 years but it's 2 years nonetheless, haha.

So, a lil quick update. I've been a bit inactive cuz (drumroll) I'm gonna start college this year! Yayy, self-inflicted agony! Nah ok but seriously, I've just been busy preparing and stuff. Also, I HAVE been writing! I completed my 20k word goal for Camp NaNo which I'm SUPER proud of. Me? Completeing writing goals?? Impossible, but I somehow did it! So yeah, I have NOT given up!

HII HELLO!! I'm Kiera Arroyo! This is my super cool new more official-sounding pen name! I previously went by Kurieta/Kurie. I don't mind if you call me that, but since that was always kind of a "placeholder" pen name from the start, I'd very much prefer it if you used my current pen name. My pronouns are she/her. I am an adult, but this blog and I are very much family-friendly. No 18+ content on here, no sir.

I write mostly fantasy, but I'll occasionally dabble into sci-fi and mystery. I rarely write romance. I have, like, ten thousand WIPs, but I have four main ones that I've talked about on this blog: Samantha & Yuki, Ashes, Inside, and A Normal Story.

You can expect to see writing advice, inspiration, and other's writings as reblogs, as well as some of my own works (duh). I won't be the most active writeblr with college on the horizon and stuff, but I'll definitely be around from time to time.
