Alright, here we go. My review for The Dabbler's Guide to Witchcraft by Fire Lyte
Final rating: ??/10 - it broke my numbers system.
TL;DR - I like the book. I'm angry at the author. It's great for new practitioners. If you're going to get it, please get it from the Spiral House Shop, get Alex Wrekk's two witchcraft zines to go with it, and go look at/reblog/contribute to the original Dabbler's Week project.
(Also I think this is the longest review I've written yet. I'm sorry.)
This book is very good. I'm mad about that. The author is an excellent writer. I'm mad about that. I want to dislike this book but I can't, and I'm mad about that.
So let's get into the breakdown of why.
First up, a housekeeping thing: "Fire Lyte" is a pen name that I don't believe the author uses anymore, so I will be referring to him as Don Martin, the name he is using on his current projects. I know he's on TikTok, formerly of Inciting a Riot podcast, now of Head on Fire podcast.
Second, some links relevant to the review-which-is-actually-just-a-rant:
The breakdown of things I found that were taken uncredited from Tumblr
I COULD be making this up and reading it in bad faith, but this bit about 'heteronormative marriage' has my alarm bells ringing
Why I hate the title of this book
The original Dabbler's Week project links
Anyway.
I picked this book up specifically because of the title. It's been 3 years since it was published, so it took me a while, but I remember looking at that title when it was first out and thinking "Hey... the timing of this... did this person just wholesale lift the 'Dabbler' idea from Tumblr?"
The answer is: Yes, probably!
(He also summarized the Malachite Dick post from February 2020, but he actually credited Tumblr along with relevant usernames, so that's good and also made me laugh.)
But... yeah. The fact that he's crediting Tumblr from something that specifically happened in February 2020, when the original Dabbler's Week was from late January 2020 and seems to have inspired his whole book? Don, would it have killed you to mention ANYTHING about that project and the people involved?
He's very big on talking about following trails of information, listening to podcasts, listening to the podcasts of people talked about on those podcasts, reading books talked about on those podcast, and so on. But if he doesn't start off by saying "Dabbler's Week was a project issued by asksecularwitch on Tumblr", then how is anyone supposed to follow THAT chain of information, hmm? If his whole advice on finding good witchcraft resources is to follow the chain of people who are sharing information from each other, but he makes no mention of where he got the whole idea for his book, then what?
Side rant: I'm real tired of how Tumblr information is simultaneously treated as too shitty to ever bother reading or mentioning, but good enough to screenshot, repost on other sites, recite word-for-word on tiktok, and apparently write a book about.
ANYWAY. I'm angry about it. I'm gonna be angry about it. Here, please look at these links to the shenanigans that began the original Dabbler's Week, because Don certainly won't tell you about this part.
Anyway.
Some bad things:
I mean, the plagiarism. I keep hesitating to use the word 'plagiarism', because to me that seems like wholesale lifting entire works and slapping your name on them, when all Don did was fail to credit a few Tumblr users he quoted. But then again, if I did that on a research paper in college, it would be called plagiarism, so.
This book is in fact not a great guide for 'dabblers'. The point of Dabbler's Week was that if someone didn't know if they wanted to commit to witchcraft but wanted to fuck around with casting some spells for a week to try it out, there were week-long guides on things someone could do to try that. This book is not for fucking around with magic, it's for people who are already sure that they want to make this a thing in their lives. It handles some heavier topics (e.g. vetting mentors and not getting sucked into a cult) that are very very important for someone who is BEGINNING, but may be too much for someone who just says one day "lol I think I'll cast a spell for fun". A far more accurate title would have been "The Beginner's Guide to Witchcraft", but then he'd lose that punchy and marketable and googleable term 'dabbler'. (Yes, I'm going to be petty about this.)
"Wow Jes, it sounds like you really hated this book."
NO I DIDN'T, AND I'M SO MAD ABOUT THAT!
Some good things:
The author has a writing style that I enjoyed very much. This is a personal preference, but I like when books are either written so that the author is fully invisible (Bree Landwalker's books do this wonderfully), or the author is fully visible, like they're sitting at the table having a conversation with you (Kelly-Ann Maddox's 'Rebel Witch' comes to mind, as does Alex Wrekk's 'Brainscan 33: DIY Witchery'). Don Martin is the table conversation kind. That makes this book very easy to read, while also getting information across in an easily-understood sort of way.
This book fills a very necessary gap in modern witching books. It talks about the online community of witches, and a lot of the pitfalls that have come along with the bonuses of having so much witchcraft available at our social-media connected fingertips.
He gets very in depth with things like cultural appropriation. That's something that you can find in a lot of modern witch books, but Don actually spends the time breaking the concept down and explaining WHY it's harmful, HOW it affects people, and quotes people from the affected minority groups. I have seen the appropriation topic come up in a lot of the witch books I've read, but Don is the one who has covered the topic the best, imo.
He spends time on topics that I myself would have been dismissive of. The example that comes to mind is the chapter 'Can I Make Sh*t Up?' My knee jerk reaction was "Yes, you can make your own spells, you don't need to get someone else's permission. Next question." But Don goes through the full breakdown of yes you can make up your own spells, yes you can make your own correspondences, but no that doesn't mean you can just throw a water soluble crystal in your water bottle because you think it's good for cleansing.
Actually on that topic, he covers a lot of the why not just the what. It's not just 'appropriation is bad', it's 'and here's why'. It's not just 'research your herbs', it's 'here's some examples of things that can and have gone wrong.'
SPELL CANVASES! There are 11 'spell canvases' in this book, and they're pretty much all just kids/teens science experiments (e.g. dissolving an egg shell in vinegar, lighting a tea bag on fire so it flies, and using food dye to color a white flower). He does not give intentions for these spells, but gives a spell technique and then some examples of how you could apply your own purpose/intention to it as needed. It's actually pretty smart, and now I wish there was more stuff like this.
He actually explains what UPG means. Man, 'UPG' is one of those things that I keep seeing as a 'I don't know what that means and I'm to afraid to ask' blog post. When someone pops into the witchy social media circles, we can throw the term 'UPG' around as if everyone knows what it means, and forget to actually explain that it's Unverified Personal Gnosis and what that means. Don's got us covered. Good on you, Don.
The one throwaway line about why you don't have to buy fancy witch things. Tucked away in chapter 12 is this almost nothing-sentence mentioning why you shouldn't be "going broke hoping to buy your way into 'effective' magic" (pg. 161). I have seen, reblogged, probably written posts about 'No you don't need the fancy tools! You can just use whatever! But you CAN buy them if you want, you just don't NEED them.' And we've all seen those around, right? But damn, if Don didn't just get to the heart of it. You can't buy your way into skill. YES, Don, THAT!! THANK YOU.
Alright. I'm running out of words. This isn't a review, it's a rant. Holy shit. Let me shut up with a TL;DR
Almost without doubt, Don liked Tumblr's idea enough to write a book about it, but failed to give credit. But he's an excellent writer and covers a lot of topics that are not often written about in printed books, and to get those blogosphere-ideas onto bookshelves is invaluable. This is a good book for beginners starting out in witchcraft, but not for dabblers who just want to screw around with some spells. Do the pros outweigh the cons? Is it ethical to buy a book when the author gets royalties but the bloggers he got the idea from do not? I don't know. I can't tell you that. You'll have to weigh all this against your own moral compass and decide for yourself. My recommendation is that if you're going to buy it, please buy it from the Spiral House Shop, because if Don Martin's going to get paid for this book, Alex Wrekk should too. Buy Alex's zines. Reblog Sec's posts. Links are up at the top.

Is it just me or is censorship all across social media getting really bad lately? Pinterest just removed a whole bunch of my pins for sexual content - they were all fully clothed queer men and women showing vague intimacy, nothing overtly sexual at all. Like one they removed was literally just two men's heads leaning on each other. That's wacko right??? Have I missed something big going on?
Tbh it's been getting increasingly terrible for a long time, anon, it's not a lately thing, it's been since before the Tumblr purge, and it is at least in some part due to the SESTA/FOSTA law that got passed in the USA, and the increasing passing of laws in many countries that are specifically concerned with removing net neutrality and treating all of us like 3 year olds.
It will get worse, not better. And you've probably been missing a few big things! It sounds like you were most directly impacted by what happened with Pinterest, so you've just noticed it. Many of us noticed it around 2018 with the Tumblr purge. Some of us have been impacted by elements of it way earlier, due to Livejournal's Strikethrough which necessitated the invention of Dreamwidth and helped to really get AO3 off the ground. And this was back even before we now have many laws that scare a lot of big companies into removing adult content.
Steve Jobs famously hated / loathed pornography and was on a mission to literally try and remove it from the internet, and part of that mission was to - as much as possible - make it nearly impossible for apps that have it to get listed in the Apple store. This is partly why AO3 doesn't have an app. This is why Dreamwidth doesn't have an app. This is why the Tumblr Purge happened - so they could continue to have an app. And while some sites don't get targeted, as soon as you do get targeted by the Apple store, it's either 'provide your legal identity to prove that you're the age you say you are' to access adult content or it's 'goodbye adult content.'
We've also had an increasing rise of morally panicked, puritanical TERF-informed anti-shippers who believe that their emotional reactions to fictional content they find troubling are firstly valid moral judgements, and secondly, a valid reason to abuse, bully and send death threats to real people. And these people basically work hand-in-hand (often without realising) with extremely powerful Evangelical Christians who have government influence and a lot of money in the USA and literally work to change laws to make it reflect an extremely puritanical vision they have of the future. You know, the homphobic, transphobic, misogynistic, racist, kinkphobic, bigoted, antisemitic etc. etc. etc. one. (It's highly ironic and tragic that most antis are young and queer and just extremely uneducated).
I'd say people notice based on what impacted them directly. So some of us realised in 2007. Some of us realised again in 2018. And since then there's been a lot of blows from a lot of sites. In a way, Pinterest is joining an already very bloated bandwagon of sites cornered in the manner. The reason why people say 'unalive' these days instead of suicide, or 'r@pe' these days instead of rape is because of Tiktok censors. The reason so many folks moved their adult fanart and art accounts off Instagram, or they've gone dead, is because of Instagram censors. The reason so many adult writers on Patreon are very careful about what explicit words they write directly onto the site is because of Patreon censorship.
After all this, it's possible that Pinterest has a bug and are implementing a new AI algorithm for detecting adult content, and it's just broken. In those cases, reporting and appealing actually often does help. When Tumblr first implemented their algorithm, it wasn't very well trained yet, and like, pictures of fruit etc. were being banned because the AI algorithm was still figuring out what to do. Tumblr was in a rush in order to keep the app in the Apple store (over 70% of their income is from app users, the site would have literally died if they didn't act quickly), and so they ended up with an extremely overzealous and initially broken (and still sometimes broken x.x) algorithm.
If Pinterest is going through something similar, either with the app store or with having to address a sudden legal change, they may be having algo problems, and reporting will help them train the algorithm better.
Trust me, there will be people behind the scenes - staff at all of these websites - who hate the changes as much as you do, even if they can't say so for professional reasons. But even the new owner of Tumblr got pretty close to saying 'it fucking sucks but we have to do it if you want the site to exist' (which honestly made it a lot more...possible to handle the change, because it's not usually the sites you have to hate/resent, but the laws getting changed around you. Also if anyone here is an adult and can do so - please vote!!!)

Fanfic Master Post
About the Author Q&A post

Oathbreaker
angst. self discovery. trauma healing.
This is Morwen/Idril, the subject of my longfic Oathbreaker. This is an ongoing fic about betrayal, redemption, religious trauma, abuse, and why good people do bad things. She also has romances along the way because despite everything she has never lost her capacity to love. The main plot is about why she broke her oath in the first place, and her ongoing journey of self discovery and healing after her previously locked memories of her past were suddenly released by Raphael.
This fic contains smut, drama, violence (there is also dead dove content especially in the middle-late act 2 and beyond) and is probably the work I'm the most proud of.
She has a rich backstory with original characters and plot, and the story takes place both in the present BG3 time and in the past, all the way up to before she swore her oath.
The fic is ongoing, updated at least once a week (sometimes twice) and currently on the cusp of the end of Act 2.

Laileth of Waterdeep
fluff. romance. two worlds one heart.
This is Laileth. She is a forest elf who hails from Suldanessellar inside the forest of Wealdalth/Tethir, as far south of Baldur's Gate as Waterdeep is north. I've unconsciously been treating her like a Tolkien Silvan elf, so finally decided (though not stated in the fics themselves) that by some magic a group of elves from Mirkwood found themselves transplanted into Faerûn and therefore they were extremely reclusive and rarely dealt with outsiders except to trade. This is her first time meeting people of other races except at the bargaining table and she's fallen in love with Faerûn and it's people. She's also quite young, comparatively, and full of wonder and love of life and eagerness to learn and explore.
One person in particular though, Gale of Waterdeep. I only have two stories of hers posted so far, but I've created a Series on Ao3 to keep all of her various drabbles together. They're all one-shots and her story will (mostly) be at the mercy of the prompts from the BG3 Writers Discord server. Many contain smut, and Laileth and Gale are into dom/sub play.

Careless Mistakes - Lee Know Oneshot Fanfic
Tumblr media
Pairing: Minho (Lee Know of Stray Kids) x Violet (OC - story written in 2nd person)
Genre: angst, romance, very explicit smut, angry sex, enemies to lovers
Word Count: ~7.6k
Warnings: extremely sexually graphic, anal, the traffic light system, swearing, slight bullying, angst, crying, character is poor and starving herself, mention of eating disorder, probably others.
This is just a story that doesn’t describe Minho or any other SKZ members’ true characters in any way. It’s just a product of my imagination and should be treated as such.
This story is also on Wattpad: click here and AO3: click here
A/N: As any other writer out there, I would appreciate reblogs and your comments on this story. Please let me know if you enjoyed it, and most importantly, have fun!
---
Summary:
Your whole life has been uprooted after your dad unexpectedly passed away two months ago, leaving behind your younger sister you decided to care and provide for no matter what. To be able to give her the same lifestyle she was used to, you had to take up another job. Minho had no way of knowing that. For him, you were just an annoying stylist that kept messing everything up, making careless mistakes. You got tired of his antics, hearing him swear at you over and over again, so you proposed the most logical illogical thing: fucking it out. After all, angry sex is the best way to cool off.

"I swear to God, I'm gonna fucking kill her!" Minho shouted annoyed as soon as he got backstage, trying to tug his shirt back into the damn belt.
"Come on, man, don't be like that." Jisung tried to comfort him, putting his hand on his shoulder. "Just get over it."
"No! I told everyone countless of times I'm uncomfortable with my abdomen showing, what can't she fucking get? I swear, it's either intentional, or she's bad as fuck at her job and should be fired."
"Don't be so harsh on her, I'm sure she's doing her best. She's just new. She's been with us for what, 8 months?"
"She's doing her best, my ass. First, she gave me that tight ass necklace I had to rip off mid-dance because it was literally strangling me. Then she gave me those annoying boots with the impossible zipper, and I had to focus for half the performance to not continue barefoot. Then, the freaking sunglasses! Doesn't she know what choreographies we have? Unless she literally glues them on, they are bound to fly off my head! But that's nothing. Today she fucking topped it! If this is her best, then she should get the fuck out of this place, she's clearly not meant for it." He ripped off the earpiece, angrily.
"I understand you're annoyed, and I get you, but-" Jisung started, before getting interrupted again.
"Is Violet still here?" He asked a staff member, who pointed him towards the girl. He didn't hesitate to march over.
"Yo." He said shortly, annoyance in his tone.
"Hello, Minho. Great performance!" You smiled, complimenting him. "You danced really well and looked amazing on stage, as always. You're a great performer. You too, Jisung." You smiled at the boy following Minho sheepishly as well.
The antipathy Minho has been harbouring towards you for the past few weeks was unknown to you, so you didn't have any reason to believe that what he was going to say would actually be meant to hurt you. You just smiled as he started spitting venom at you.
"Yea, not thanks to you. What the fuck is wrong with you? Can't you read one simple instruction?"
Of course, he had no way of knowing that you've been having a really harsh time lately, that you indeed couldn't focus on your job that well considering everything that happened, that your whole life has been uprooted after your dad unexpectedly passed away two months ago and that you've been running on 4 hours of sleep as you took care of your younger sister and got a second job to be able to offer her the same lifestyle she lived until now.
He couldn't have known.
"I'm sorry?" You replied, tilting your head, confusion written all over your face.
Minho chuckled mockingly. "You're sorry? Did you even get what you did wrong, or should I spell it out for you?"
"Uhm... please. If there is anything I did that upset you that much-" you hated how your voice quivered, but you hated him a little bit more for acting like this towards you. "The necklace this time wasn't tight... and I didn't give you any more boots with zippers, so..."
You watched over at Jisung who was moving his hands around pointing to his blouse frantically. "Was... was it the shirt?" You questioned, remembering that you read one time that one of the members absolutely hated having his abs exposed. You were sure it was Changbin, but you really couldn't remember. The past few weeks were extremely hazy.
"Bingo! Your head is not totally empty! Well done!" He exclaimed, clapping mockingly.
"Uhm... Okay, I will note that down again and-"
"How come I have to tell you what's wrong after every single performance? Are you that incapable of reading the previous stylist's notes, or noticing for yourself?"
"You're right. I'm sorry." You replied, feeling your eyes sting. Everything was getting to be too much. Plus, it's not like you messed up all the time. Sure, he could dislike an accessory every now and then, but you had to dress him basically everyday. He seemed to forget that 6 days out of 7, nothing was wrong with his outfit.
"Sorry this, sorry that. Instead of apologising you'd better do your job right, or even better, quit while you're at it."
Before you got the chance to say anything else, he turned around and left.
You tried your hardest to keep your composure. You couldn't cry yet, when the room was still buzzing with people.
"Don't mind him too much, he's just been stressed." Jisung started, but you just shook your head and smiled.
"That's okay. He's right. I will do better."
"He's kind of an asshole, isn't he?" Jisung whispered, making both of you chuckle. "Thanks for today. I really liked my outfit."
"Thank you, Jisung." You smiled.
"I'll get going, see you later?"
"Sure." You smiled, feeling a bit better. Jisung did have a way of turning any battleground into a children's park, apparently.
"Violet, girl! Wanna get lunch? We have almost 2 hours until the next shooting starts." One of your coworkers approached you cheerfully. "The other girls are also coming, so I was just thinking we could all eat together. There's a sushi place not far from here and it's delicious!"
Lunch.
Right.
When was the last time I ate? You wondered.
"Oh, sushi sounds great!" You chuckled in a friendly manner. "I have to get something sorted out first, though, so you can go first. I'll join you all if I manage to finish in time." You smiled at your coworker, who nodded.
"That's too bad! Well, we're keeping you a seat, so feel free to come whenever you're done!"
"Of course."
~
Being alone in the empty room, you started rummaging through similar black shirts you could give Minho to change in.
Sure, he was right, but he didn't need to be such a jerk about it. You thought, reminding yourself of the unpleasant encounter. It felt so horrible having him shout at you and looking at you with so much hate.
You were in the wrong, sure. You knew you made a few careless mistakes. But he could've treated you a bit better, like you were a human being, not a punching machine for his verbal abuse.
Finally on your own, you let yourself sit down on the sofa in the corner of the room and cry, letting the tears fall down freely on your cheeks as you kept your head rolled back on the small cushions.
Suddenly, the door opened with force, and you jumped up in surprise, noticing Changbin walk in. You wiped your face as much as you could in the few seconds it took him to spot you, and you smiled at him.
"Sorry, just left my phone here. Didn't you go to lunch yet?" He asked, looking at you. If he noticed you've been crying, he didn't mention it.
"Oh, I just have to finish this quickly, then I'll eat something." You lied once again. You didn't need food, what you needed right now was to cut costs wherever possible to be able to afford your little sister's ballet classes.
You wished she didn't have such expensive passions, but as the oldest, it was your responsibility to take care of her and her interests when there wasn't anyone else to do it. Poor kid had it rough enough already. When your dad remarried and had a daughter with his new wife, she died giving birth to her, so she never even knew a mother figure.
You felt bad, so despite there being a 15-year age-gap between you and her, you tried to be there as much as possible.
"Oh, I see. Found it!" He exclaimed, grabbing his phone from the table.
"Have a nice lunch!" You exclaimed and waved at him, starting to sort through Lee Know's shirts again. You were so dizzy, it was getting hard to focus, but still, you somehow managed to stay awake and find more comfortable items that would fit him in the big pile of clothes brought by their sponsors, and then you sat back down on the sofa and took a small nap.
~
"Done?" Felix laughed as Changbin returned to the table, victoriously showing off his recovered phone.
"Yes! I left it on the table. It's good that no one took it." He chuckled.
"Yea, no one would've noticed someone taking a phone that's not theirs, since that room is always full, right?" Hyunjin asked as he took a small bite of the sliced vegetables.
"Oh, it was quite empty this time, though." Changbin said with his mouth full. "Besides Violet."
"Yea? Why was she still there? I thought the team went to lunch at the sushi place. Didn't she go with them?" Chan asked, curious.
"I know it's not okay to comment on people's bodies or anything, but didn't you guys notice that she's lost a lot of weight and looks rather... frail?" Felix asked the group of boys, knowing full well how drained of energy he was when he used to starve himself.
"She almost passed out last week during shooting." Seungmin said matter-of-factly, making everyone look up at him. "What? Is there something on my face?" He wiped his cheeks.
"What do you mean she passed out?" Minho asked, watching Seungmin closely.
"I said almost. She was in the hallway when I went to the bathroom, and I just saw her lean on a wall, and her knees gave in for a bit, so she fell."
"And?!" Jisung asked, mouth open.
"She said she was just very tired and brushed me off, and since I had to come back to do that 8-man shoot, I didn't really stay and chat." Seungmin shrugged and munched on the rice bowl in front of him.
"I'm a bit worried for her..." Felix said, looking down.
"She did look a bit dejected... but I'm sure she'll be fine, right?" Changbin touched Felix' shoulder, as always admiring how empathetic he was towards others.
"Yea, I will... talk to her!" Felix decided, resolve in his voice.
"So, what did you think about..."
The boys continued talking for a while about the shooting, their new music video and the upcoming busy schedule.
"Anyways, I'm done eating, so I'm gonna head upstairs and rest for a bit until y'all come." Minho stood up after a while, and started leisurely making his way back to the dressing room, set on laying down on the sofa and closing his eyes for a few minutes.
When he put his hand on the handle, he heard your voice through the door, and despite knowing that he shouldn't, he stayed there and eavesdropped. You seemed to be talking on the phone, not too loud, but loud enough for him to hear.
"Oh my God, that's amazing! I'm so happy for you, Mimi!"
You seemed excited.
"That's so great to hear! We have to celebrate this! I'll change my schedule to be free on Saturday, so let's eat some cake, what do you say?"
What would be so worth celebrating? And what schedule? As far as Minho knew, there wasn't anything planned for this weekend.
"Of course chocolate, what else, Mimi? Oh, I know, let's buy some meat and we can have a barbecue as well! We didn't have one in a while, did we?"
Barbecue AND a cake? Sounds like fun.
"Two new dresses? For the show?" You asked.
Minho raised a brow. He wasn't supposed to listen to other people's conversation. Should he just enter the room?
"300$ per dress?!" You exclaimed in horror. "Wow!"
He pressed the handle and opened the door, but you didn't notice him getting in, because you were crouched on the floor, as if you were in pain.
"No, Mimi, of course we're going to buy them. I'll figure it out, so don't you worry about anything! Look, my break is almost over, so I have to go. I will get home earlier today, at about 12 AM, but don't wait for me, and go to sleep instead, yea?"
Minho approached you slowly. What were you even going to do until 12 AM? And how is that early?
"You're such a strong girl! Love you too!" You said and ended the call, sighing. Your stomach was hurting, which made it difficult to stand up, and you were so dizzy. How were you going to work the next 10 hours?
"Violet?" Minho asked you, making you stand up way too quickly in horror. The dizziness got to your head, and you felt yourself almost fainting, your knees giving in. Before you fell, Minho caught you and he looked at you almost worried.
You knew better than to think he actually gave two shits about you. Your earlier conversation told you as much, anyway.
"Sorry, I didn't notice you come in." You said and moved away from his grasp.
"How was lunch?" He asked you.
"Good. Since you're here earlier, I found these clothes that you could-"
"What did you eat?"
"Huh?" You asked perplexed. Why did he care?
"What did you have for lunch?"
"Why?"
"Just curious." He shrugged.
"Rice and some vegetables." You lied with a smile. "What about you?"
"Where?"
"What?"
"Where did you eat?" I didn't see you downstairs.
"Oh, I brought food from home." You replied, not missing a beat. It was getting so easy to blurt out this kind of lies.
"What are you celebrating this weekend?"
"Is this some sort of interrogatory?" You laughed. "Nothing that concerns you. Can you try those clothes now?"
"... Sure." Minho replied, grabbing the shirt and the new pants you gave him, heading towards the changing room.
Just then, your other coworkers entered the room.
"Violet! You didn't join us after all!"
"Sadly." You laughed. "I had to find some new clothes."
"Did you eat anything?"
"I did, I brought something from home. Thanks for always taking care of me." You smiled.
"By the way, your sister's recital should be one of these days, right?"
"Oh wow, you remembered!" You chuckled, noticing that Minho still hasn't left the room. You shooed him away, but he seemed to ignore you, and started participating in the conversation.
"What kind of recital?" He showed you a shit-eating grin, happy that he was going to hear what he wanted to hear, after all.
"Oh, her sister is a little ballet prodigy!" One of your coworkers complimented. "She's sooo talented! Best of luck to her!"
"Oh, it was actually today, and she just called me earlier telling me she got the main role!" You smiled, boasting. You were very proud of your little sister for accomplishing this, after your dad's accident. His death was harder on her than it was on you, but she was taking it like a champion.
"No way! She's gonna be Cinderella?! Congrats!" She hugged you.
"Wow, Cinderella!" Minho exclaimed as well. "That's so cute! I wanna see her too, when is her show?"
"I don't know, Minho, I just found out 15 minutes ago that she got the role. Will you go change?" You smiled fakely.
"But Violet, isn't it super expensive?" Your coworker frowned. "Keeping her in classes, and I bet her costumes are going to cost you a lot..."
"Oh, indeed."
"You got a second job, right?" Your coworker further inquired, and you started feeling uncomfortable.
"Yea, I did."
"Poor girl. First you lose your dad, then you have to work this hard at such a young age... Let us know if we can help with anything, hm?" Your coworkers smiled as if they were pitying you, and you hated this. You didn't notice Minho's gaze, nor did you care to look. You indulged in the pleasantries of your coworkers. It wasn't like they were actually going to help you in any way, so you didn't understand why they were pretending to want to be helpful.
Minho eventually left to change without saying anything else, and all the boys soon returned to the dressing room.
"Violet, can I have a word with you?" Felix approached you with a small smile, and both of you headed to the hallway.
"What's up?" You smiled back, noticing that he was fidgeting, looking perturbed.
"I don't want to... bother you with my questions, but..."
"Hey." You put your hand on his left shoulder. It's not like you were friends, but he must've had a reason to ask you to talk privately. "It's okay, you can ask me anything."
"I... uhm... used to do this really bad thing where I wouldn't eat for days trying to lose weight, and..."
"Oh." Now it made sense why Minho asked what you ate today. They talked about you.
"I'm sorry, I know it's not my place to say anything, but I just wanted to let you know that you are already beautiful as you are, and you don't need to lose any weight, but if you want to, you should do it in a healthy way... Changbin-hyung even offered to go to the gym together, if you want..."
"Lix." You smiled. "It's nothing like that."
"Don't lie to me." He looked at you sadly. "I know you haven't been eating. I've seen how tired you are, and I was the same way..."
You felt bad, because Felix clearly went through something and used to have an eating disorder, so this conversation was probably really difficult for him.
"No, you're right. I haven't been eating, but it has nothing to do with losing weight." You furrowed your brows, sadness taking over your expression.
"Then?"
"I just... uhm. This is awkward." You chuckled, not noticing Minho coming out of the changing room on the hallway. "Rent, and my sister's ballet classes are really expensive, and now she will need two dresses for her show, so... I'm cutting costs wherever I can. I'm doing fine with eating once every few days, so don't worry about it." You smiled sadly, noticing Felix's gaze drop.
"You don't have..." he started, just when Minho talked a few metres away from you.
"What are you guys doing?" He grinned. "Violet, these clothes feel way better, I wouldn't have had a screaming fit if you found these first!" Minho chuckled loudly. He didn't want to make it obvious that he's heard your talk with Felix.
"Oh, that's good to hear. Shall we head back, then?" You smiled, and opened the door to the dressing room.
~
~two days later~
No fucking way. Minho thought, fighting every urge to roll his eyes after his bracelet fell off and he had to toss it out of the way on the stage. How come all the other members you dressed didn't have any problems with their clothes or accessories?
Once again, he returned to the dressing room fuming, complaining loudly to Jisung about you.
"Yo, Violet!" He shouted, seeing you relax on the couch.
"Minho, great performance as always!" You smiled, in a fake manner this time.
"Shut up, can you take this off?" He gave you his left arm, and you looked confused at his wrist.
"Take what off? Where is the bracelet?" You furrowed your brows.
"On the fucking stage. After it fucking fell." He replied, annoyed.
"No way!" You exclaimed, waiting for another meltdown like last time.
Fuck, you didn't have energy for this.
Thankfully, Chan approached Minho to talk to him about something.
"He's taking it out too much on you." One of your coworkers commented, making you nod.
"Right?!" You pouted, making her laugh.
"Maybe he has a crush on you." Another coworker said, clearly joking.
"Yea, in what universe?" You joined her laughing. "He's just an angry asshole."
"But Violet, you know what they say, sometimes the best way to let off steam is to have angry sex."
"Oh my god!" You slapped her arm playfully. "Don't say shit like that! What if he hears?" You looked anxiously at Minho, who, despite not being too far, seemed caught up in a conversation with Chan.
Thank God he didn't hear this. It would've been embarrassing as hell.
"If he hears, he might take you up on the offer." She laughed, making you roll your eyes.
"Anyways," your other coworker stopped the madness. "Let's go eat. Are you coming, Violet?"
"Oh, no. I want to rest for a bit before the next job, so I'm gonna stay here and sleep."
"Want us to buy you something, then?"
"No, thank you, I have some food in my backpack, so don't worry!"
You saw Minho turn away to look at you briefly, before he exited the room.
Soon, all your coworkers left as well, so you were left in peace. You've been waiting for lunch break to start and for everyone to leave the room for about two hours now, so you can finally sleep for a bit on the couch.
It's been getting harder and harder to stay awake, since you had really low energy levels after not having eaten more than an apple for 4 days now.
~
"Violet." A voice woke you up, and you opened your eyes, confused by your surroundings.
Oh, this is the dressing room. You realised, pressing your hand on your forehead. Your whole head was hurting.
"You're finally awake. I've been trying to wake you for the past 10 minutes." Minho chuckled.
"Why are you here?" You asked, your voice groggy. "Is it already 2?"
"No, it's barely 12:30. I was in the mood for some peace and quiet, so I thought I'd get lunch here. I bought too much. Wanna eat together?"
"Hm?" You were now fully awake, and smelling the food made your stomach hurt even worse. You were so hungry.
"Come, let's eat." He dragged a table closer to the sofa and started opening up a few containers with fresh food from the cafeteria.
It smelled great.
Minho gave you some chopsticks and a spoon and placed a bottle of water in front of you.
"This is really good." You smiled, tasting the chicken soup. After examining all the contents on the table, you realised that he only brought foods good for the stomach: chicken soup, fish, rice, apricots.
"I'm glad you like it."
"You... heard me and Felix the other day, didn't you?" You asked, avoiding his gaze.
"Mhm." He hummed. "I did."
"Thank you... but you didn't have to."
"Yea, I know. Not for my dummy stylist who messes up my look everytime and annoys the shit out of me, anyway." He shrugged.
"Yah, don't be like that!" You frowned.
"It's the truth though." He shrugged again, before bursting out into laughing. He really seemed to enjoy messing with you.
"When is Cinderella's ballet show?" He asked, looking at the food, as if embarrassed.
"What?" You asked, being taken aback by the sudden change of topic.
"Your sister's-"
"In 3 months."
"You're not gonna miss it if you're coming with us to the US, right?" He asked you, concerned. "You're coming, right?" He quickly added, as if scared to hear a negative response.
"Of course I'm coming." You chuckled. There was no way in hell you would miss an opportunity to travel through the major cities in the US with all expenses paid, while you got three times your salary. "And no, the show is exactly one week after we return, so I won't miss anything."
"That's great. Can I come see her too?"
"Wh-what?" You choked on your food, grabbing the bottle on the table and taking a big gulp of water.
"I'm curious, and I haven't seen a ballet in ages."
"They're all children, Minho. They won't be professionals like you guys." You chuckled.
"It doesn't matter. Get me a ticket?"
"Pfft." You laughed again. "Okay. Sure."
"Let me pay for her dresses." He blurted out, quietly, and you weren't sure you heard him right. Surely he wasn't suggesting giving you money.
"What?" You smiled, not knowing what to think.
"They are pretty expensive for you, but they don't mean anything to me, and I'd like to buy them."
"Uhm. Why?"
"Just because."
"Because of what?" You questioned further, looking at him in confusion.
"Because I want to. What do you want me to say?" He asked, annoyed.
"I don't... no." You denied his request, turning away to the food. Minho didn't insist further.
Once you finished eating everything, you felt more energised than ever, so you thanked Minho genuinely and felt ready to conquer the world. Perhaps it wasn't going to be such a shitty day after all.
~
After that day, every time you would have a common schedule with Stray Kids, Minho would either get lunch with you, or force you into coming with him to the cafeteria and buying you lunch.
You got used to his presence and his witty remarks, but he still annoyed to shit out of you with his dislike for various garments or accessories you would give him.
Tonight was the third show in the US, and all of you were in the large venue, preparing the Kids backstage.
The concert was amazing, but as soon as Minho returned, annoyance was once again plastered all over his face. You were not in the main room, so he went to find you, and you were resting in a quiet place – the stairs of the hallway for the Staff. No one bothered to come here during the concert.
"Violet!" He groaned.
"What is it this time?" You rolled your eyes, annoyed. Why did he keep disturbing your quiet time after each concert?
"My cap fell off, and my earpiece got stuck in the fucking earring you gave me!" He shouted at you, and you stood up, facing him.
You had enough.
You went right in front of him, your chests almost touching, while you looked into his fiery eyes.
"You know what, Minho? You're whining so fucking much, I should be the one to say that you annoy the shit out of me."
"Oh yea?" He said, as if threatening you. "If you did your job right..."
"Look, no one else ever has any complains, so what is it with you? 'My ring is too big!'; 'The hair clip is scratching my head!'; 'My pants are too tight!'. Grow the fuck up!"
He seemed taken aback for a second, before smirking at you. You never showed this much resistance before, and he kinda liked it, although he preferred... more obedient girls.
He was sure you're gonna be the obedient type, though.
"You're truly the worst stylist I've ever seen." He challenged you, still sporting the dumb smirk.
"You know what, Minho? Maybe my coworker is right."
"About what?" Minho tilted his head.
You must be crazy.
But he was so close to you, and his perfume mixed with his natural scent after sweating on the stage was intoxicating. He was too close.
Violet, stop. You tried telling yourself, but when did you ever listen?
"We should fuck it out." You said plainly, glancing straight into his eyes.
"I'm not sure you want that, Violet. I'm not sure you can handle me taking all my anger out on you like that."
"Try me." You said again, confidence lacing your tone, as he pressed his body on yours and pinned you up against the wall, kissing you hungrily.
Your kiss was heated, and you wanted nothing more than to fuck him right there, but it was too risky. Any staff member could come in the hallway and see you.
"What is your room number?" Minho stepped away from you, lust visible in his eyes.
"42. Are you coming tonight?"
"No, baby." He chuckled. "I'm going to send you a present, and you're going to come to mine at exactly 11:30 PM, wearing it. Number's 143. Yea?" His hand was on your neck, fingers brushing your skin gently, as his eyes expectedly looked at you.
"Mhm." You nodded, already feeling excitement pool down in your stomach.
"Good girl." He kissed you again, before turning around and leaving you there all flustered. He just knew you were going to be the obedient type.
~
No way.
When you heard a small knock on your door at 10 PM, you weren't sure what to expect. Opening it, you saw one of the room service ladies holding two luxury black bags.
"Miss Violet? I have a delivery for you." She handed you the shopping bags hastily, then left.
The first bag contained a small box with a pair of Louboutin red bottom black high heels. You weren't sure how you were going to walk on them, but they were pretty, and considering the brand, expensive as heck.
Maybe you could sell them after tonight to pay for your sister's dresses, after all. You still haven't figured that one out yet. Perhaps you should've taken Minho up on the offer two months ago and let him buy them, since he was going to shower you with such gifts anyway.
You curiously opened the second bag and pulled out a lacy see-through black underwear set, and the sluttiest tight black dress one could find. Wearing it on your body, you took the time to admire yourself in the mirror. It was a strapless neckline, the dress being tight around the waist and supported by your hips, after which the dress would split on both sides of your thighs, dropping lower only about a palm's length.
You certainly never wore such a slutty dress, and the lacy three-piece underwear set – specifically the garters of the set – were totally visible under it.
You only had to go up a few floors, but would it be even remotely appropriate to wear something like this outside the room?
Fucking Minho. You cursed, thinking of what a shit eating smirk he must've had ordering these clothes. You didn't even want to think of tomorrow's walk of shame.
When the clock showed 11:25, you grabbed a black trench coat which you were glad to have brought with you to the US, unaware of the weather, and hugged it tightly around your body, not wanting to risk being seen like the 21st century biggest slut.
You made your way towards the elevator and pressed the 14th floor, then found the third room in the hallway, 143, and knocked.
Minho opened it eagerly, but frowned at the sight of you.
"What's with that?" he pointed to your trench coat, making you snicker.
"You didn't want me to walk through the whole hotel dressed like this, right?" You opened it up, showing him that you indeed wore what he bought for you. It was maybe the boldest thing you've done, but you were too far gone and way too horny to care anymore.
Minho was an ass, but he was attractive, and he had a good side to him as well, noting that he took care of your meals for the past two months. Why not have sex with him too while you're at it?
He stepped aside to let you walk in, and as soon as he closed the door, the trench coat flew off your body, and your back was glued to the door, as he started kissing you eagerly.
A few seconds in, you understood why he picked a strapless dress. Minho started kissing your jawline, then moved on to your exposed neck, sucking and biting your skin harshly. You moaned in pleasure, not giving a shit about how much he was marking you. You liked it.
Your tits were the next to become completely exposed, as he almost tore the dress taking it lower. He didn't even admire the lacy black underwear, he just took it off hastily, and you wondered why he bought it in the first place.
He kissed your chest down to your boobs and bit the sensitive skin on them, making you groan in pain. When you put your hands in his hair to signal him to slow down, he just grabbed them and slammed them tightly against the door, so you couldn't move.
Despite your small whines, he continued sucking on your right breast, his hand having fun with your left boob, fingers massaging and pinching your nipple.
Minho moved his hands on your hips, his mouth still attached to your right breast, as his fingers found the rim of your lacy panties. He took them off swiftly, disconnecting your bodies as he sat down on his knees in front of you.
He looked beautiful.
Without saying anything, he spun you around and spread your thighs apart, connecting his mouth to your pussy.
"Fuck." You moaned, feeling his tongue drawing stripes along your core and separating your folds as he was forcing the entry.
After a while, he moved his tongue up, and started eating out your butthole. You let out a gasp in surprise, as you truly weren't expecting that, and you felt embarrassed. You never did any butt play with anyone else, and you felt insecure, so you tried to turn around, but Minho had other plans, as he gripped your thighs tightly and slapped your left butt cheek powerfully, making you groan in pain once more. His fingers and the hit were sure to leave bruises tomorrow.
When he sensed that you wouldn't move anymore, his right hand moved from your thigh to your clit, and he started massaging it just as his tongue entered your hole.
You didn't know your ass could feel so good, and his fingers working on your clit at the same time brought a powerful orgasm out of you, your knees almost giving in.
You were already a mess, but the night was just beginning.
"Violet, let me tell you how we're gonna work tonight." He started, but you already barely heard him, still trying to recover and to keep your legs from shaking and giving in. Minho also seemed to notice, as he stood up and pressed his body on yours.
You felt his bulge against your ass, and you wondered how good his dick was going to feel deep inside of you.
"We're going to use the traffic light system. Are you familiar with that?" He whispered in your ear, and you shook your head.
"No, I don't think so."
"There are three colours. Green means 'I love it, you can keep going'. Yellow means 'I am a bit uncomfortable. Slow down, but keep going'. And red means 'Stop. I can't take it anymore'. If you use red, we're done. You can trust me to stop. Okay?"
"Yea. Got it." You nodded, feeling his hot breath on your neck.
"Promise me you're going to use red if it gets to be too much. Don't force yourself to please me."
"... I promise." You replied, and you were grateful he was so insistent in making you feel good, not just chasing his own pleasure as most men you had sex with until now would.
Minho didn't let you have any other time to recover from the orgasm. As soon as he heard the magic words promising him you're going to respect your own boundaries, he turned you once more with your back against the door, as he kissed away the hurried gasps that were still coming out of your mouth.
He gripped your dress tightly and took it off you, then grabbed your wrist and took you in front of the bed, grabbing your hair to make you kneel down in front of him.
You watched expectedly as he unbuckled his belt, taking out his dick. Once again, knowing exactly what he wanted, he didn't miss a beat in forcefully sliding his whole length down your throat.
You choked on it, but he didn't care, he just kept guiding your head to suck him off and used your mouth like a fleshlight.
You started tearing up involuntarily and felt your saliva coming out of your mouth and getting everywhere on you and on the floor each time he would take his dick out to let you breathe for air.
You were so wet, you desperately wanted to be touched again, even if you just came less than 5 minutes ago, so you moved your right hand to your clit and started playing with it. As soon as Minho noticed, he pushed his dick as far as it could go in your throat, and chuckled lowly.
"You're so selfish you wanna get off again?" He laughed at you mockingly, taking his member out again and grabbing your chin, raising your head up to look at him. His eyes were dark and full of lust.
He yanked you from the floor and threw you on the bed, starting to take off his clothes.
"Off." He pointed to your garters, the only piece of clothing left on your body, and you obediently followed his orders, remaining naked on the bed while you waited for him to come to you.
You noticed a scar on his abdomen, and you wondered if that was the reason why he was so mad when you gave him a shirt that went too far up, but he didn't leave you much time to think, as he made his way over you and pressed his body on yours, kissing your mouth while he slid in you with ease.
"You fit me so well." He complimented you, moving his mouth to your neck and leaving love bites everywhere he touched, but after a few more thrusts, he pulled out of you and made you turn around with your ass in the air, and he started fucking you doggystyle.
"Fucking hell." You moaned, as you felt his powerful thrusts. Was it dancer's stamina?
Minho spat on your asshole and started spreading his saliva around with his thumb, massaging the entrance. You felt exposed, but couldn't complain as he put his thumb inside, starting to stretch your walls.
"Colour?" He asked, slowing down his movements momentarily.
"Fuck, green." You moaned again, just wanting him to start moving again. His finger in your ass felt good, something that truly took you by surprise, as you never envisioned yourself putting anything up there.
Soon enough, Minho swapped the thumb with two of his fingers, moving them in and out of you as his dick grazed your G spot every time he moved his hips. The stretch was getting a bit uncomfortable, but you soon felt another orgasm creeping in, and started gasping for air as you let go of that knot in your stomach.
"Good girl." Minho whispered, taking his fingers out of you and pressing his thighs on the back of yours, pushing you down on the bed. He seemed to know your knees wouldn't be able to hold on much longer.
He moved in and out of your pussy a bit slower while you recovered from your orgasm, and with a last thrust, he took his dick out and rested on top of you for a moment, kissing your shoulders and back, leaving marks everywhere.
When your breathing slowed down after a few seconds, he repositioned himself, this time at your other entrance. His dick started pressing into your ass, and you felt a painful sting that made you close your eyes tightly.
"Minho, it hurts." You whined, feeling him push in.
"I know, baby, can you take it?" He asked you lowly.
"It's... my first time... there." You whined again, feeling hot tears staining your cheeks.
He was hovering above you, and with his tip inside, he brought his face closer to you and whispered.
"Colour?"
"Ugh." You groaned in pain. "Y-yellow."
Hearing you, Minho started pushing into you deeper and bit your right shoulder strongly, making you cry out in pain. The distraction worked, however, as your brain didn't seem to register which was more painful. You sobbed, but he comforted you, whispering sweet words.
"It hurts!" You cried out.
"Shh. I know, I know it does. You can take it, baby. I know you can."
He moved his hands on your inner thighs and spread your legs apart, allowing him better access.
"Oh God." You sobbed, feeling him bottom out into you.
He stayed still for a few moments before thrusting his hips back and forth, and you found that with each thrust, the feeling inside your ass was getting less and less unpleasant.
Minho brought his fingers and your clit and rubbed it quickly, as he was mercilessly fucking your asshole.
Being under him like this, with his dick in your ass and his fingers all over your pussy, you blacked out and let yourself experience a third orgasm that night, that was so powerful, you started squirting, something you've never done before. It was so good, it made you see stars. Your ass clenched around his dick, making Minho groan in pleasure.
"Such a slut for me." He grunted. "Do you like getting your ass fucked? Coming on my dick like that?"
You only whined in response, your mind no longer able to form any coherent words.
He continued fucking into you powerfully, before his own orgasm took over, and he cummed inside your ass and filled you up.
Minho plopped down next to you, putting your right leg on his hip as his fingers played with your ass, taking his cum out of it.
He spread it all over your pussy, and got it inside with his fingers as well, as he started fingering you. You rested your head on his shoulders, letting him have his way with your body, and you came for the fourth time that night, whining strongly.
Your body could no longer take it. Instead of letting you go through your orgasm slowly, Minho kept fucking you with his fingers, until you hugged his body tightly, putting your left hand steadily on his back and whispering a small "Red".
Minho stopped immediately, hugging you back.
"You did so well." He praised you. "I loved it so much, Violet."
You didn't have any energy left to reply to him, your body feeling weaker than ever.
You felt his weight disappear from next to you and a big blanket covering your body.
"I'm gonna take a quick shower then run a bath for you. You should also pee, to prevent any UTIs, okay?"
You still didn't hear him, but missed his presence next to you.
You don't know when he picked you up, but you started to become a bit more conscious as he helped you sit on the toilet, and he left the bathroom so you can have your privacy.
You started peeing, feeling both your holes burning up.
Then, you stood up, your legs shaking under your weight, and hopped into the bathtub, letting it fill with you inside of it.
Minho knocked on the bathroom's door after a while.
"Violet, can I come in?" He asked gently, and you replied with a small "Yes", your voice hoarse.
Minho came inside and made his way closer to the bathtub, gently caressing your face.
"Can I wash you?" He asked, and you nodded.
He let the water start draining as he took shower gel into his hands and started spreading it on your arms and body. He washed his hands off the soap and brought his right one down, brushing his fingers on your swollen private parts.
You winced in pain and placed your hand on his, wanting to stop him from touching you any further.
"I'm not going to do anything, Violet. Don't worry. I just want to wash my release off you." He said gently, and you just nodded, trusting him and letting him take care of you.
When he was done washing you, he grabbed a big, white towel and wrapped it around you, as he took you in his arms and put you back on the bed. You took the towel off, wanting to be more comfortable, when you noticed the new sheets.
"Oh, the bed was a mess, so I called reception to have them come and change them." Minho clarified with a smile after seeing your confused expression, making sure you were comfortable under the covers and laying down next to you. He was thoughtful, and you were glad he did that, as the bed was filled to the rim with your release and his.
You closed your eyes and fell asleep quickly, as Minho brushed his hand through your hair gently.
~
Minho woke up the next morning to a bang on his door. He quickly put on some pants and a shirt as he noticed you still sleeping soundly.
Opening the door, he saw Jisung.
"Man, you're going to miss breakfast if you don't hurry up!" He scolded his elder.
"That's okay. I'll order something later." Minho quickly brushed him off, wanting to do nothing more than to come back to bed next to you.
"Anyways, I think I left my Switch here, so I came to get it." He brushed past Minho, not understanding why he was pulling his arm to try and get him out of the room.
And then he saw you sleeping in his bed, naked under the sheets, and he went as red as a tomato. He literally ran out of the room.
"Oh my God, what the hell!"
"Quiet down or you're gonna wake her, idiot." Minho face palmed, finding it amusing how flustered Jisung became.
"What did you do to her?! She's all bruised up!" He exclaimed quietly.
"Nothing she didn't like, don't worry." Minho chuckled again. "Anyways, I'm gonna miss breakfast, and your Switch is not in my room, it's in Hyunjin's."
"Oh. Then-"
"Bye!" Minho waved before closing the door right in his friend's face, then returned to bed to see you still asleep. He was glad the commotion didn't wake you, as you seemed to really need to rest.
One hour or so later, you finally woke up, seeing Minho watching you stretch your limbs.
"Morning." He smiled.
"Hey." You replied, your voice even more hoarse than last night. He did a number on you, no joke.
"Slept well?"
"Mhm, I did."
"I'm glad, Violet. After last night, I'm no longer mad at you." He chuckled.
"Was that your hate fuck?" You smiled lazily, still trying to fully wake up.
"It was. Did you like it?"
"I did, but I don't think I can walk anywhere today..."
Your whole body hurt, and you were glad you had a day off before having to head to a new city for tomorrow's concert.
"Good that it's a free day."
"Mhm. Indeed."
"Do you want to see my love fuck next time?" Minho asked you, and you searched his eyes for any mockery. You were glad to see that you couldnt't find any.
"I do."
"Good. Let's go on a proper date, too." He said gently, petting your head lovingly.
"Okay." You smiled and grabbed his hand, kissing it. "Minho?"
"Yes, Violet?"
"Can you buy those dresses after all?"
"For your sister? Of course, love."
"I got you a ticket as well." You smiled at his choice of nickname, feeling your heart swell up with a new feeling.
"Thank you. I can't wait to go together." Minho replied, coming to kiss your lips.

Note
do u have writers u recommend (dnf)? love ur writing btw
Aw, thank you! I do! (Sorry this has been sitting in my ask box for a while since I'm not online much lately). In no particular order, these are some of my favorite DNF writers:
Scoops (ao3): Extremely versatile writer. Engaging plots. Has something for everyone! How are they ridiculously talented? I want to examine their brain with some of the coolest worlds they come up with. They write vividly and pack some gut punches in their fics. When I open a Scoops fic, I know I'm in for a treat.
Extrasteps (ao3): Another extremely versatile writer. I love her fics so much. Delicious. Sometimes dark. Good mix of AUs and the explicit stuff is top tier. Their Blinding Shadows series drives me feral (her other bite-sized fics are great).
Altaneen (ao3): Perpetuam Memoriam is an excellent fic (DNF royalty/political intrigue). The darker themes in her work give me major gothic fairytale vibes.
Dizzy (ao3): Bite-sized fics. Made me fully realize some kinks that I could totally be into. *cough*pisskink*cough* Their writing is cathartic, terse, and captivating. They have excellent George and Dream characterization. They're super unafraid to write what's outside the box within DNF and I am in love with them for it.
Preytall (ao3): Huge writer crush. I've reread their fics multiple times. Their fics are gourmet and I come to feast to satisfy some deep itch in my brain. Gorgeous prose. The tropes they write are mwah, chef's kiss. Their blog is also one my favorites on Tumblr for prime degen DNF sex brainrot.
Maplefound (ao3): Ahhh I like the fics they have up. I really enjoyed the imagery in hunger, bone deep. I find myself clicking on that fic a lot lately just to re-read.
Mieldoux (ao3): Incredible prose and this fic was excellent. Poetic writer, love them.
Alisonsomething (ao3): Their second-person POV fic is so good that I revisit it semi-frequently. I do not care for second-person POV or soul marks AU, but they are proof that a good writer can reel in anyone. Superb writing . They also write angst incredibly well and I am currently reading FIFLW.
Venus43 (ao3): Although they have left the fandom, I still think about Aching Heart and This Thing Called Us. They write tension and longing so well and god it just hurts. I miss them everyday.
SamrieIMG (ao3): Okay they are hands down, my hugest author crush. They do not write DNF anymore, but their prose, world-building, incredible stories hit me a certain way. They are the reason I started writing in the first place and I have a special place in my heart for them. This darkfic (more DSMP/minecraft-ish) DNF series is incredible. READ THE TAGS. Horror thriller-ish. Each fic stands out on its own. It's not a romance (it's even better), but it's a hauntingly beautiful journey. Seriously underrated author. Imo, the tropes listed aren't that bad/overly explicit but ofc, please heed the tags.
In no way is this a definitive list, but just some DNF writers I can think of off the top of my head (and bookmark-ready). It is late and my brain's dead, so I'm sure I'm forgetting more people.
I need to comment on more fics for real though.

Losing your Twitter Audience: Some Shit of the Top of  My Head, by Me
Reposting a Twitter thread I just made because it's got a lot of thoughts I've had stuck in my head lately:
I don't have a fully-formed version of these thoughts, but I think what a lot of artist are asking when they say "where will we go after twitter" is actually asking "where are all of the normal people going to end up?" I can name a half-dozen sites that are ready and waiting for more artists to come flooding onto their platform. I'm sure there are just as many for writers, musicians, filmmakers, everything else. The actual question everyone needs an answer to is where is the AUDIENCE going.
I've been terminally online for well over two decades at this point. I've been obsessed with the internet since middle school and I can honestly say I've never seen anything like twitter's user base in my entire goddamned life. I've never seen a website that EVERYBODY uses. The closest comparison I have is Facebook, which was really the first internet community that normal people ever truly appreciated. At it's core though, Facebook was a tool that kept you connected with people you knew in real life. As much as it changed, that idea was its bones. Twitter isn't really like that. It doesn't have shared calendars or photo albums or a base instinct to keep you hooked into communities you're already in. Twitter has performance in it's core. It's a bullhorn you pick up to shout to as many people as possible. As much as it's changed that's still it's core feature, the thing it's always going to want to do. That's why it's so appealing for every performer in the world, and I think since most people who don't want to be on stage want to watch a show, that's why it got so huge.
So a bunch of performers can reach enormous audiences and a bunch of us managed to make a living off of it. The question now that this stage is burning down with us on it is where is the next one, and I just don't think this massive audience is ever going to move in unison. I think the thing we all need to be prepared for is that we're going to fragment. We're going to find our own corners again and the more savvy members of our audiences are going to find those same corners as they seek out what they love, but our causal viewers will veer off. Twitter has been an incredible tool for us to put our art in the faces of people who would never think to look for it. This was a big part of what the people who found success on Facebook benefitted from as well, the audience who treated social media like television.
The people who are just looking for an entertainment box to turn on and comfort them without effort are most likely never going to use a Pillowfort, or a Tumblr, or a Cohost, and DEFINITELY not a Mastodon, because they all require a base level of interaction and engagement. And to be clear, this isn't me calling those people stupid, or a "bad" audience. People have their own lives and their own interests. Curating a feed of content requires effort and seeking out new artists is a skill. A lot of people just want to crash after they got off work. So those people aren't going to follow us to new sites. Either because those new sites are improved, but more esoteric, or just because signing up for a new site is a hassle of it's own. We're going to lose that audience. Period. Mourn them if you need to, but accept that.
I think success for artists online in the future is going to look a lot more like what it was in the early 00's-10's. Artists and willingly-engaged audiences seeking each other out. I just don't think putting as many eyes as possible on our work will be a winning strategy. Instead of finding as many people as possible, we need to be focused on finding the right people. 100 followers who are excited that their you, specifically, just posted are as valuable as 1000 followers who don't remember you that well and just want to see some cool art. A lot of people stopped trying to find their 1,000 true fans and focused completely on reaching 10k, 50k, 100k followers, no matter how closely they're paying attention. Honest to god, I think the later is going to be suicide in five years.
FWIW, I've never actually been any good at doing that. The biggest following I've ever had in my life is a little over 3,000 followers in TikTok. I think I just feel weird seeing a bunch of artist who have "made it" panic that they'll be losing everything when Twitter's gone. If you have 10k, 50, 100k followers right now, I don't think it's useful to focus on how many you're about to lose. Instead focus on who the best 10% of those followers are, the ones who've supported you financially and by sharing your work, do what you can to meet them where they live.
Anyway this started as an attempt to excise a stray thought I've had stuck in my head all week, didn't mean to spend 45 minutes on it. The point is get ready to post like it's 2007 again. Best case scenario, the internet is going to be asking a little more effort from all of us pretty soon, but I think at the end of the day if things go right we're all going to come out the other side better for it. If you made it this far, dig through your feed, pick one or two of your favorite artists who have links in their bio to give them money, then give them a little money. I promise you they'll notice.

✨2023: A Summary✨
Post your most popular and/or favorite edit/gifset/analysis for each month (it’s okay to skip months!)
Tagged by @telomeke (here). I hope those deadlines have been treating you well!
I have like, no original posts but I was kinda curious to see what was most popular, and I am procrastinating doing my dishes so. Here's another heinously-late post from meee!
🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
✨JANUARY 2023✨
MOST POPULAR POST - The first tag game of the year. Actually, reading this back was kinda fun. I do love the Disco Elysium fanfic I shout-out here.
FAVORITE POST - N/A
🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
✨MARCH 2023✨
MOST POPULAR POST - Another tag game. I was just starting to slowly talk to people here, and being tagged in Tumblr games was legitimately so morale-boosting. Thank you @waitmyturtles for always being so kind and inclusive. <3
FAVORITE POST - N/A
🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
✨APRIL 2023✨
MOST POPULAR POST - N/A
FAVORITE POST - Actually has zero notes, but it's a watchlist tag! Keep Your Hands off Eizouken! did end up being a 10/10, and I did end up watching the entirety of A Shoulder to Cry On. Why? No clue.
🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
✨JULY 2023✨
MOST POPULAR POST - My list of favorite Thai QLs!! I spent so much time on this post, I'm very happy it's the most popular of the month. I'm particularly proud of naming the dinner scene in Lovely Writer as one of my favorites. Still stands, unlike my selections for "most anticipated" series.
FAVORITE POST - I like my list of favorite television series, haha. I've been rewatching season 1 of Gravity Falls recently and that's on the list!
🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
✨AUGUST 2023✨
MOST POPULAR POST - A "get to know me" tag game, wherein I largely lament the lack of glasses (unfortunately also marking a decline in my remaining vision).
FAVORITE POST - A reply to an ask from @dnana-2809-blog about my favorite forms of media, which sent me down a very nostalgic spiral inclusive of some of my favorite books, movies, and films.
🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
✨SEPTEMBER 2023✨
MOST POPULAR POST - Another ask game, which I also did to procrastinate on important tasks. I did end up watching The Eighth Sense, which turned out to be one of my favorites of last year!
FAVORITE POST - N/A
🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
✨OCTOBER 2023✨
MOST POPULAR POST - Yet another tag game, this one asking me to put my Spotify On Repeat playlist on shuffle and report back the results. Mine were interesting, to say the least.
FAVORITE POST - An ask by @wen-kexing-apologist that pressed me to name 5 things that made me happy, which came to me in the midst of a supremely bad mental health day. It was a sorely needed exercise.
🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
✨NOVEMBER 2023✨
MOST POPULAR POST - This was the month of my La Pluie watch-along, so my most popular post is my watch of episode 6 (when Tai and Patts first attempt to defuse some of their sexual tension).
FAVORITE POST - I have two I really like, though my absolute favorite has to be the one which chronicles the absolute unhinged watching experience of episode 10 (with THAT fight):
I'm also proud of everything I wrote about the use of deafness as symbolism in episode 5 (which ended up aligning with @shortpplfedup's connection to the apostate/true believer theme!)
To see all my posts in my La Pluie watch-along (which I rated a "9/10, two thumbs up, singing in the rain") and read other fantastic meta, see @lurkingshan's round-up here.
🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
✨DECEMBER 2023✨
MOST POPULAR POST - Ended the year with the "decorate my tree" tag, and I am still so thankful to everyone who took the time to leave me a message!!
FAVORITE POST - N/A
🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
P.S. This site (JetBlackCode) is super-helpful in searching for and filtering your posts.
No tags, enjoy 2024!

Some random Thoughts the first
Here's some random thoughts about Fire Emblem that I'll post here since the Opinions Thread on Reddit is a bit late. Negative first, then positive.
Firstly, I've said this before but I think that the biggest casualty of incest being discussed in Fire Emblem is that it means that people cannot treat a brother and sister being affectionate to each other normally. Every time they do so much as share an embrace, you are sure to see someone claim that there is some kind of romantic undertone. I really, really just hate this. Can we just...not?
Secondly, there's a pattern I've noticed, a sort of temptation to get addicted to looking at other people's bad takes. It is certainly not hard to find people saying things that objectively make no sense, not especially on social media sites like Tumblr, Reddit, or Twitter/X. Sometimes it is so funny that you have to say something to someone else. But at the same time, it's easy to fall into this addiction to looking at bad takes. To make it a full-blown habit of spending so much time at looking at terrible things said on the Internet is extremely unhealthy! I am not saying this to laugh or to proclaim myself as better, because I too am guilty of gossip. But we are called to greater things than circlejerking off other people's faults.
---
We are honestly blessed to have so much talent in our community. Obviously, there's artists, but we also have talented writers, talented cosplayers, talented translators, talented analyzers. I see it when I see the subreddit, I see it on Twitter, I see it on Tumblr, I see it on Discord. My talent is nowhere near the talent that other people have. I can't draw, I can't really speak Japanese, and my creative skills amount to some middling writings. So to everyone who has this talent, I thank you for all you've done, and if you want to use your talents to enrich the community, I say go for it! I support you.
Have I mentioned before that I like Ivy from Fire Emblem: Engage? I will spare you the details of my months-long angsting with the fact that I like her. I've said repeatedly before that I would not die on a hill defending that character, but for once I'll say that I appreciate her. I appreciate that she isn't one-dimensional (contrary to popular belief, ghosts are not mentioned in every support she has). She's adept at maneuvering around many different people, whether it's with Alcryst who clearly still has bad feelings about what happened in Chapter 10, with her sister whom she wants to support despite the enmity between their mothers, or with someone like Mauvier who is in a similar situation to her. Yes, the worldbuilding in Elusia rings hollow just as it does throughout the game, but I still felt that she was fine with regards to fitting into the plot, perhaps more-so than any of the other royals in the game.
(In general, I think my enjoyment of Engage increases when I turn away from looking at posts where people say they dislike it. Then I feel less bad about liking Engage even if it went against a lot of what I was wanting out of future Fire Emblems.)
One last thing is that I want to just say that I like how many little things there are to discover about FE4. I'm in the process of building a group of docs comparing the various translations of FE4. It's been three years since I went through the work of putting together a script for Project Naga, and I'm still finding lines that I never knew existed. Who knew that there's actually a line for if you seized Lubeck (first castle in Chapter 5) with Byron somehow still being alive? Or that Ishtore's boss dialogue changes if you fight him before killing Liza? So many little details to appreciate from this game even if it does show its age.

I've seen multiple posts lately talking about how bkdk shippers tend to have fairly accurate analysis/predictions of canon events, despite people saying bkdk shippers have unrealistic expectations. What do you think?
I mean, I may be a bit biased, but I honest to god believe that, yes, we have better takes.
The thing with any form of storytelling (and is an inevitable part of analysis) is that we will always project onto the characters. It’s just, what we do. Humans find patterns and because we have amazing pattern recognition we connect that pattern to our own patterns/experiences.
Projection is just a fact to accept of life when it comes to any form of telling a story. The new definition that’s gotten popular over the years, “kinning a character”, is an obvious symptom of that human experience. Our ability to put ourselves in the shoes of a character is both normal and expected. In fact, a lot of times it’s even wanted; that’s just what main characters are for. For shonen specifically, people usually want to envy the character in some way. Cis men like to feel powerful and that’s just, a fact of life for those who don’t seek the help they need.
This is in contrast to a shojo, where the point is so that women can relate and/or envy the magical girl genre. The idea that you are more powerful than you look which is VERY popular within women and afab communities. The security you have as your own guard dog in a weird way.
And I’ve noticed a pattern (I’m sure I’ve already said it on this account at some point lol) but most people who hate Katsuki.. are usually projecting their own bullies onto them. Or they could also be projecting a toxic relationship/friendship onto him, anything. “If I was in dekus shoes..” that’s the thing dude. You aren’t in his shoes.
Now, another factor, most people who ship bkdk are also writers! Or analyst’s! People who are able to read the subtext, and generally are more open minded people to forgiveness or anything else.
This isn’t an intelligence thing, in fact sometimes it’s not even a projection thing, but what I DO know is that out of all the groups of shippers in this fandom (and I’m a multi shipper, I’ve been in a lot of them) bkdk shippers are generally the nicest and are able to dissect the show overall. It’s very welcoming.
It has its bad parts. In fact I think most of the reason why this app specifically is so nice is because people fought and died to make this a nice space. (sorry tumblr love ya) You will end up reading piles on piles of fanfics that create a distorted view of bkdk (hell, even make it toxic asf) and think that the way it was written was okay and healthy.
There are tons of iffy people out there, and fandom manages to get out weirdest and grossest parts of people sometimes. Like tiktok! (Derogatory)
But just as bkdk has a lot of good people, really intelligent people a lot of the time too, so does izu//ocha, or kiri//Baku, or todo//deku. Nothing is really linear. No ship should ever get in the way of how we treat each other unless it’s outwardly hostile. Who cares if someone ships like, idk, todoroki and iida, but I ship todoroki and sero. (I like both of them but besides the point, it’s an example dammit)
Also, I honestly think the reason people think bkdk shippers have way too high expectations is because the story itself is a parody. That’s what this show is. It’s a parody of the normal shonen. It’s going to dip it’s toes into gay and non monogamous relationships (tsuochatoga???? Like ochako is way closer to tsu than Izuku but ANYWAY-) through our mc and his supposed “love interest”. Maybe I’m delusional, but I think it’s better to take a leap and be optimistic and get your hopes destroyed than to constantly live without the positivity of just, being hopeful. Being pessimistic is miserable, I’ve done it before and I’m not doing it again.
I think the idea of having “too high expectations” as a justification for why bkdk wouldn’t be canon, or how “it’s a shonen” isn’t necessarily based in any actual evidence, rather our own pattern recognition. And think about it; this was one of horikoshi’s FIRST MANGAKA’S. We know close to nothing about horikoshi’s writing other than what he’s done in mha.
So, what we think is just as valid as anyone else who thinks it’s unrealistic. I’m tired of being told I’m wrong by people who don’t even see most of the subtext or symbolism within bkdk or mha as a whole.

Kitchen Thoughts with Steve Harrington (headcanon)
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Reader (no pronouns)
Word Count: 0.5k (yes it’s short, but it’s new content!!)
Summary: Just some late night thoughts about how King Steve can be in the kitchen. (I’m sorry, I wish this summary was better 😣)
A/N: This is actually a collab with another Tumblr writer, who I’m now fortunate enough to call a friend, @bakerstreethound. Please, for the love of everything good, check out Ace’s work. They are amazing and I’m so glad I’m able to share my obsession with you, Ace!
Tumblr media
he wouldn’t hesitate to wrap around you from behind and give neck kisses then slow dance in the kitchen
whispering a really low “good morning” in that groggy/sleepy voice that no one could refuse
he’d also probably hold your sides and kinda rub circles against your clothes/skin while he hummed
he'd be the one to burn eggs or something, obviously
“I don’t know how it happened, babe! One minute it was fine, the next dust!!”
imagine a bunch of take-out and delivery in your future with this man
but he would somehow be able to make sweet treats that turn out okay????
like muffins. So many muffins
he probably doesn’t know when to stop baking either.
one day you just come to see him and he’s made like…..five dozen of the things
and he just goes, “I made too much. Want some?”
then all the kids drop by to eat them or he picks them up after school and has the trunk loaded with them
he probably sneaks some muffins into your bag too, with little notes like, “I love you,” “there’s muffin I love more than you,” and other cheesy one-liners
remember how Steve eats bananas? Well, it turns into a joke that whatever he eats, he'll definitely make it into a muffin
that leads to some hella weird concoctions
like cinnamon and mango
or kiwi lime
or zucchini banana (which wasn’t too bad)
and Dustin sighs because, "Steve you have to stop."
cause he still hasn't recovered from the peanut butter and banana sandwich Steve made him for lunch
“This is an intervention, Steve!!!!!”
and you know Dustin wouldn’t sugarcoat it when Steve makes something gross
“Gross what is this shit?”
“It’s a muffin!”
“It tastes like death. Never make this again.”
does it hurt his pride when Dustin does that? Yes.
does he stop making them? Absolutely not.
but then the kids get so tired of the muffins, he starts sneaking them in their lunch boxes just to get rid of them all
sometimes they come to you for help
which leads to your garbage always smelling like a dead bakery
at least the neighbor’s dog loves you
and when the kids are tired of finding them in their bag, they just use them as hockey pucks or something
Lucas using them in his slingshot
Max would definitely roll her eyes about it, but she secretly finds it endearing Lucas does it cause she's sick of the muffins too
eventually Dustin has to bring all the leftover food to D&D nights and Eddie likes having the food
one day Eddie just finds out that Steve made the muffins and shows up at his house asking for more muffins or something
but he'd be kinda shy about it
“So those muffins…..”
“yeah?”
“You uh, you have any more?”
Eddie would def twiddle his thumbs
his head would be down, too. The curls would fall into his face and he’d look up with puppy-dog-esque eyes
have we just stereotyped Steve into the muffin man? Yes.
the kids humming “do you know the muffin man” every time they see him
he's the ice cream man, which he'd be insistent about
“Robin’s the ice cream man”
“WOMAN”
“right. Woman”
“for God’s sakes, Henderson…. I WAS the ice cream man!”
Mike shaking his head at how Steve can’t hold onto a single title
“Couldn’t even hold onto my sister, dude.”
“Low blow, Wheeler. Low blow.”
—————————————
Author’s Note: First headcanon done and Dustin’d! See what I…did there? Heh. Please don’t hate me. Steve Harrington has been my latest obsession and I’ve fallen for him hard. Huge thanks to Ace for helping me continue to embrace this obsession and for all of YOU little sparks for not jumping down my throat for the numerous Steve fic reblogs. I hope to work on a full-length Steve fic in the near future, so please stay tuned.
If you like what you read and want to see more short blurbs like this on my blog, make sure to leave a comment, reblog, and a like. Don’t forget to check out Ace’s blog, too! Until next time, little sparks 💙

I know nobody cares abt Sam in snw but i find it hard Not to for ~personal reasons, bc I have this friend whose brother is uh, smart. Not “tumblr gifted” or the like, I mean Really fucking smart and his goals in life all perfectly aligned with what their dad wanted him to do and he can literally do no wrong, proud of him to the ends of the earth sun shines out of his ass bullshit. This isn’t a slam against him bc he’s a Really nice dude and knows full well what their dad is like and used the ‘can’t do wrong’ thing to support my friend, and did this even when he was a 16yo boy, so it’s hard to hold it against him. The siblings have a good relationship Because he’s aware the discrepancy for how they’re treated is so widely gaping and that it’s not because he’s so GR8, it’s bc their dad is an asshole.
But like, my friend is super smart Too. Not Brilliant at math but by no means bad at it either but according to the dad she’s gotta be a math genius. But her talents are in the wrong Kind of places for their dad. She’s a brilliant artist, and biology is her preferred science field, and she was interested in archaeology and had the nerve to find a career that melds those things together. She’s also successful at it, is doing well.
Still ain’t good enough for Mr. Asshole though (I really hate this man, he’s such a rude prick. I had a dream as a teenager and it was to get to tell him to fuck off bc i hated him in general and was sick of having to comfort my friend if he made her cry bc she shouldn’t have been crying to start with!!! I had to have Words with my parents abt how they spoke to him because them assuming he’d be a decent parent got Her the silent treatment at home once because they had the nerve to complement her artistic skills to his face and it put him in a snit).
and lol, j. kirk has NO clue what’s happening here and it’s not putting him in my good books, especially since Sam is actually Trying to fix some of the fucked up dynamics that their dad apparently installed in them to at least attempt be a decent brother, Jim is like ‘well change what you’re doing it’s not too late!’ like dude get your head out of thine ass, he’s Doing what he wants to and is obviously pretty good at it if he’s on the flagship of the fleet. A couple of jim’s lines i could have smacked him upside the head for. And it rubbed me the wrong way that Jim was validated narratively by being backed up by Spock.
i want the writers’ sibling dynamics emailed to me stat so i can tell if this is going to improve or be something that annoys me the entire time for the tone deaf takes. I figure it’s 50/50 either way right now.

Not a fan of redemption Mapleshade headcanons and storylines, not because I don’t like her but because let women be evil!!
Also Mapleshade kinda read as a metaphor for parents who uh let their children die because of their own beliefs and shit. ( cough parents who refuse to vaccinate children ) so personally I really don’t like the idea of redeeming her for this very reason 😭 although I think it’s cat fantasized enough that call her a silly gal all you want or whateva
Been a lot of discussion about gender and evilness on warrior cats tumblr lately so here’s a summarized version of my takes:
-Rainflower and Crowfeather are equally awful, but don’t treat Rainflower any better because of how some fans treat Crowfeather. I don’t think Crowfeather is written particularly well but it’s also worth noting that a lot of fans like him more because well. He’s a protagonist and has a lot more content to theorize over than Rainflower who just straight up bullies her disabled child. Although you can still like Rainflower if you want, just let’s not bbygirl ify parents like Rainflower or Crowfeather.
-More Bramblestar slander on my feed PLEASEEE
-Sometimes people blame things on characters when… babe the writing is just awful. I know a character is told by the narrative to do something cool but then never actually is shown doing it, I don’t believe that’s a fault of the character I believe that’s bad writing.
-Not related to any fandom discourse actually but can we talk about how boygirl and girlboy core some of the warrior cats characters are because I have never come across this many in fiction
-I also think it’s worth noting that despite how much I really don’t like Mapleshade and Rainflower for their actions ( not as characters I actually like them as characters and the roles they fill in the story ) the actions of the male villains and antagonists in Warriors are way worse and often are not acknowledged for how awful they are and it’s good to acknowledge them but you shouldn’t try and apologize for characters who have in writing no mistake on the writers, done horrible shit. You can still like Mapleshade and Rainflower without excusing what they’ve done. Mapleshade blatantly murdered her own children due to negligence, do I like her tho? Yeah. I do.

Hi there! I was wondering if there's anything you're happy to share about your original writing? I'd also love to hear about your writing process in general, from first conception through to finished product, and how it varies for you for fic vs original writing. Thanks so much for your time! 🌻🌷
Oh hello new friend :D Thanks for asking!
So I can talk a bit about what's been happening with me lately lol I think it can be important for a lot of us, especially in kind of the climate we're in as creatives right now. And while the story might not seem very happy at first, I am still happy to share so others might not feel alone if they're wandering, too.
Something about my original writing:
So I went to college for Creative Writing. I had started in English Edu, and switched about halfway through for many reasons but suffice to say if I didn't do what I loved, that degree would still be unfinished. My goal was to get into editing, if I could, and eventually write a book. After college, my full time, in-office jobs at first had nothing to do with writing. I was doing things like tech support, sales and data entry until I got into advertising. And I was editing, using my degree, but I was also more using my skills from sales. And here we stumble into something of a burnout problem. I was working so many hours on unrelated nonsense that I simply did not have the energy to stay awake half the time, let alone write. And I was away from the desk for so long that when I returned, I felt couldn't manage a single good thing. I kept trying even during the dumpster fire the last few years has been collectively.
I'll time skip for the sake of the story. The cure for burnout is simply rest, regardless of it's professional/career burnout or creative burnout or a combination of the both of these things. One doesn't always realize this in the middle of the issues, though. So here I was barely writing anything that I'd be willing to share, frowning terribly at the blank page every opportunity and just being down on myself and my work. I wrote a couple flash fiction pieces, and plenty for dnd but I'd kind of lost track of my goal of writing THE BOOK, ya know? So I decided I was done with feeling so, I guess, unmoored about it all and I wanted to return to longform projects without second guessing myself at every turn. And I broke the spiral, because it was a spiral, by returning to fandom and starting my fic.
So my original writing, long story short, is short form for the most part! And I want very much to finish a novel. I'm giving myself the space to practice again with fic and prove to myself what I am capable of. It's a slow process, healing, but I am and it translates back at every step. I don't tie my original works to this screenname but a few of my fic writin' and Skywind writin' friens have read a bit here and there of both my dnd and my original short stories. It feels good to not feel bad about them as loudly anymore and to have people interact in a positive way with what I've done. I lost a bit of that after college, and writers really ought to stick together. It gets lonely and difficult without friends otherwise. (:
Something about my writing process:
I am a planner and a fragment writer! This is a result of my schooling. When I was younger and didn't hear a different way, I would pants the entire story. Now I suppose it's about 85% planning, and 15% finding ways to cause problems on purpose for my characters and running with a scene idea. (and cutting it if it doesn't work, saving it for later of course.) I outline plot points usually and if I have specific details I want to elaborate on, I have in-depth pages for that in the planning docs. I tend to treat my character sheets sorta like dnd without the build stats. Just break down into sections describing how they'll look, and their backstories. I also really enjoy the tumblr asks regarding OCs, too, because a lot of that ends up in my planning docs too, where it hadn't been thought of before. I like to really KNOW my characters and where I want the story to go as I proceed, but again -- sometimes I just cause problems on purpose for them and for myself (: But that's the fun of it. There's room for unmitigated creativity if you let go of all the headspace nonsense whenever possible.
As for fragments -- sometimes scenes come to me out of order or in ideas that don't have a place in my current project. I keep idea docs and an idea notebook on hand almost always and write down stray thoughts either as more of an outline, or just a jotted down piece of a thought -- OR something more. Like a whole in-prose scene. That's what I mean by fragments. I've found, especially lately, considering what I wrote above, that if inspiration strikes, let it distract you from everything whenever you can. Write that shit down and save it for later. (:
The last part of it, of course, is the editing process. I try to fire the editing brain for drafting purposes and then go back in to proofread and then do editing passes two or three times before I post / consider a piece to be finished enough to possibly share. I enjoy that part of the process so much. It's like finishing a good jigsaw puzzle lol. That said it's not always sunshine and rainbows, it can be a brutal difficult process. And I am not always right. It's different looking at editing your own work than others' just due to how close we can be to our own writing. Worth it, though, all the struggle (:
Is it different in my original work than fic?
Nope! I mean I suppose the glaring difference would be I need to spend more time in original with worldbuilding than I do in fic, as fic kind of has a bit of a safety net in that department. That said, there's still plenty of worldbuilding to do, lots of hcs to write about, and lots of planning how the pieces will interact. And asking -- why tell this specific story? (Always the fun part for me.) The process, regardless, still remains the same. Plan, write, cause problems on purpose, plan around those problems, write more and EDIT, EDIT, EDIT. (:
Thank you so much for asking this!! I hope this was insightful!

question 6?
it's been amazing reading the other responses and being able to see how far you've come. I may be a little late to the bandwagon, but j can say with certainty that it's been an honor reading your fics over these last few months. Please keep being you and working hard towards the things you want to achieve (*^▽^)/★*☆♪
these are very sweet words. the best time is now! i appreciate it muchly, and i hope the rest of the year—and the next as well—treats you as kindly as you treat me
6. Favorite title you used?
the struggle of being a writer on tumblr that crossposts to ao3 is that with tumblr, asks tend to do the job that titles would. so a lot of entries on my masterlist are like cuddling with [character]. what [character] does after a long day. ways to kiss [character]. which is all well and good, my work is exactly what it says on the tin and we're all happy. i don't have to worry about titling things
now i also, and most often, crosspost to ao3 at night, when i'm tired.
in some cases that's great. in other cases i mention in an author's note that ike weighs about as much as a box of cheez-its. this is all to say that my ao3 titles are awful and bad and not nearly the same vibe as its contents, and i don't think i'd have it any other way.
dudes who only order boneless 🍗 wings close the fridge with their hips and brutal garlic disaster horrifically kills 1, injures 3.9k viewers are bangers. and who could forget the indomitable royal splash
i find that the less stress i put on myself to think of titles the better, because then i just get it done without stressing. so, like... memes.
unironically, and predictably, stars above your skin is my favorite of the intended titles.
stars above your skin is most directly a reference to ike's freckles in that fic. they're something that represents how his and reader's relationship changes once they meet up; on cameras they're hard to see and in real life the sun tends to make them more prominent. they're a reminder that he's real (non-parasocial), and the moment reader notices them in detail, they go from giddy and crushing into comfortable and in love. it also refers to the confession scenes. the failed confession is literally under the stars and his appearance is described with the context of stargazing.
"The night turns the tips of his hair bluer than usual, and the stars remind you of the freckles hidden along his creamy skin. His glasses reflect the galaxy above."
this is where i decided stars above your skin would be the title. in the proper confession, they're so at peace with one another that the bumps of this nasty ass airbnb ceiling might as well be stars, like making up for their bum confession in a romantic setting. and yes there's metaphors of his freckles being stars in there
if in pursuit to and from the sun was more eloquent it would've been a contender and more likely to win. yadda yadda the sun is a symbol for both death and hope, mysta metaphor, uh huh. it just has too many glue words in it for me to take it seriously. if it didn't take tumblr 7 minutes just to load the editor on that post i'd rename it to something better, like, idk, mastodon's sixth album or something

2022 fic wrap-up!
Here it is, my 2022 fic wrap-up! I'll divide it in three parts: general rambling about writing, month-by-month discussion of what I wrote in more detail, and a conclusion about what I'd like to get done this year a.k.a. 2023!
(I wrote so much I'm sorry.)

General Thoughts and Rambling about Writing
I've had multiple times when I'd say I stopped writing. I wrote a lot when I was younger, both fic and original, always in my native language (French.) I also roleplayed a fair amount. Back in 2011, after a very bad time in my life, I stopped writing. My last attempts were roleplaying posts; I think by that time I hadn't written fic in over a year.
For a little while, I focused on drawing exclusively. I even created an original webcomic that's currently discontinued. Then, in 2013, Pokémon X&Y came out–
I'd planned to write posts about my main X&Y fic series on Tumblr, but only wrote one and then never got around to writing the rest. I still want to, though! It probably covers most of what I'd want to say already, so I'll be brief: I got back into writing fic in 2013, for Pokémon X&Y, in English this time, and then lost steam the next year for a variety of reasons. I got back into writing again in 2015-2016, writing more or less exclusively for myself without sharing it except on dreamwidth and password-locked blogs. At the time, I think I felt self-conscious about posting fic on AO3 that I didn't think was "up to par," not to mention I felt guilty about my lingering WIP...
In late 2017, I got into a brand new fandom, Yakuza, and for the first time in four years started to focus my creative energy in something that wasn't Pokémon X&Y. I still thought about it a lot (Lysandre especially) but I was able to get into new ships that I was excited about for reasons that weren't "this reminds me of my ultimate blorbos." In 2018, I started working on a Yakuza fic that I then gave up on, until (encouraged by one of my friends) I got back into working on it in 2020.
I don't know what did it; I'd guess it was having someone who could cheer me on and who was also a writer, maybe, but in 2020 I really started finding pleasure in writing again. I finished the fic around the end of the year and got very sweet feedback (which I was surprised about because the topic of the fic isn't something I expected people to care about haha.) I was itching to write more but I was also kind of exhausted. I figured maybe this was going to be my fanfiction swan song, which I was pretty happy about, honestly. I still think it's a pretty good fic.
Then, in 2021, Pokémon Masters EX grabbed me by the throat–
It felt kind of eye-opening. It felt like I was back in 2013/early 2014 and suddenly I was fueled by the raw power of OTP. I reread my unfinished WIP, that I'd continued further from what was posted on AO3, and thought: I can finish this. Not only that, but I can make what I've already written better. It doesn't matter that it's been almost eight years, it doesn't matter if nobody cares to read it. I can do this, for me.
And I did!
Not only that, but it kickstarted me into getting back into writing for real. I posted the finished, rewritten (in parts) version of the fic in November (I promise I'll talk about this in more detail soon,) and then in December I posted another fic about them. Which then brings us to, of course, what this post is actually supposed to be about: 2022.

What I Wrote in 2022 (And Other Considerations)
I started out still riding that high from having finished my long fic, and posted two fics related to it in January, turning it into a series:
* The Pangs of Disprized Love: This one is an outsider POV taking place between two of the later So Long as We Can Say chapters. It was really fun to write, despite the subject matter! The last SLaWCS chapter is actually probably my favorite, as a post-canon aficionado, so getting to write more of that was a treat.
* And With Your Hands Your Hearts: This one is a more or less direct sequel. A marriage proposal... How corny. It felt like what the characters needed after everything they'd gone through, though. I had very strong mental images for this one and I'm still pretty happy with the result.
After that, I got to work on the sequel to Et Surtout Mourir de Langueur, the first part of my mutual pining saga. At the time, I ran into two issues:
— I was embarrassed by the idea of writing and posting smut on AO3. (Yes, this seems insane to me too now.)
— I was worried people would be put off by me writing Lysandre as submissive more "aggressively." (As in, actually making it clear that was what I was going for, and not just implying it.)
Because of this, I started getting writer's block, and found myself stalling after deciding to actually include explicit scenes in (what would become) Le Bien l'Ennemi du Mieux. But something very special would happen to me that month...
Indeed, February is the month I came to know Noah a.k.a. @jonphaedrus. Which seems both so long ago and way too little time. I will refrain from gushing and just say that had we not met, I might have never started posting E-rated works to AO3 and I might have even given up on writing that second mutual pining fic. So there.
Thus, in March, thanks to Noah (and Grey!)'s support, I finished and posted:
* Le Bien l'Ennemi du Mieux: They continue pining, but this time they fuck explicitly. A lot. Way too much if you ask me. The romantic tension does not resolve in this fic and did not resolve period in 2022 but it will in 2023 I promise.
My SLaWCS energy had not left me however, and so after taking a short break I started work on a direct sequel to And With Your Hands Your Hearts, where I'd explore Augustine and Lysandre's backstories at last. This quickly became a multi-chapter project, which I was anxious about because SLaWCS (the original fic) had been my only successful attempt at that, but the fact that I had been successful once – and now had support from a fellow prfr appreciator and author – helped carry me to victory.
So, in May, I successfully published:
* Wisely and Slow: Definitely one of my favorites from the year. A three chapters story about dealing with your demons and finding a new place to belong to in the world. I could talk more about it but I won't... for now. This is the last (plot-relevant) SLaWCS story I've posted so far; the next one is going to be the wedding one and I'm SO excited to work on it. SOON.
Taking a break from longer fic writing, I wrote this treat for Noah:
* That Give Delight and Hurt (Not): I feel like this was the first step toward me going full self-indulgent when it comes to publishing smut. It still has feelings, but there's no pretense of a plot, just two characters engaging in D/s fun. It was my first time posting actual PWP on AO3... emotional...
In June, struck by a sudden bout of inspiration at the very end of a challenge from a Discord server I was in, I wrote 20k in a week:
* Perfect as a Statue, Unadorned: A Xerosic/Lysandre fic where Lysandre is a robot. It's also one of my favorites from this year! Very underrated imo. It's long, it's an AU, it's for a rarepair... so I'm not really surprised, but I do wish more people would give it a try. Oh well.
And then, finally embracing my id fully, I wrote and shared what is probably still the most unhinged thing I've written in 2022:
* All in a Day’s Work: Also known as "Rocket Lysandre free use" which tells you all you need to know. Truly just pure bottom Lysandre PWP. I think about the tag "I Want That Pokémon Villain Obliterated" regularly. I originally wasn't even planning on posting it but doing that freed me from any kind of worry about what I was "allowed" to post on my AO3, because nothing else can come close to it. Also very underrated imo but not for the same reasons LMFAO.
I was slowly getting into the habit of writing regularly, so in July I decided to try my hand at writing short fics/ficlets based on prompts I found or that were sent to me. This way, I successfully wrote five ficlets:
* Phototaxis, Show Off, The Precious Time That We Have, Then We Shall Need Each Other & Aspectabund
I also participated in BDSM Exchange, with a fic! Which was my first time writing fic for an exchange – before that, I'd only done art.
* Viens Me Libérer de Mon Sommeil (Je Suis à Ta Merci): An OT3 (Diantha/Sycamore/Lysandre) fic for Noah! It has all of our favorite things: D/s, Lysandre getting run over, BDSM therapy... I nearly finished it in time for frenchflagshipping day, too, but missed it by three days. Alas.
Powered by pure hubris, in August, I decided to try my hand at Writer's Month... and couldn't pull it off (in parts because I got very, very sick mid-way through.) I'm not going to link all of my fics for that separately (they span from August to December) but I will namedrop a few I especially like. Otherwise, you can check them all out in my series! (Shout-out to the series-within-a-series specifically for the bodyswap storyline, too. I'll finish it in 2023! I swear!)
My favorites from August were:
* My (M37) friend (M32?) keeps alienating everyone we know with the way he presents his opinions: Absolute classic. A reddit post parody. I'd still like to write a sequel/spin-off someday.
* A Comedown of Revolving Doors: Kind of a weird one; I just caught a vibe and followed it without being completely sure where I was going with it. I do enjoy the result though.
* It’s a Mechanical Bull, the Number One: Bottom Dom content for the soul. I still think this one was very big-brained of me. Also the title does not get old.
* Hit Me With the Way They’re Flaunted: It sure is over 3k about Lysandre getting his tits tortured/played with. What else can I say.
August was also the month we started posting courage is the most foolish thing in the world a.k.a. roleswap! I am not involved in the writing (as in, I don't write it; I am definitely involved in the ideas and concepts) but I couldn't not give it a shout-out.
For September, I'll cite this one:
* Something in Your Head You’ve Been Fighting All Along: It's cakeverse. I found out about cakeverse completely randomly and have not stopped thinking about it ever since. I'll probably write and/or draw some more at some point... It's still at the back of my mind.
I also participated in another fic challenge: to write an AU fic of no more than 5k words. It turned out a lot more difficult than I expected; I apparently do not do well with max word counts. Still, I managed to post:
* From the Throat, I’m Tied to You: A very horny soulmate AU. I just decided to write the kind of soulmates I'd like to see in fic, heh. Despite how hard it was for me to get the words out, I do enjoy the result, and it was fun to work on!
In November, I posted a fic for the exchange Fic In A Box! I feel like I've already talked about this one a lot LOL, so I won't get too into it.
* do let the old enmity be: A recursive fic for Noah's main prfr series. It's all in-universe stuff, and probably the most fun I had working on a fic this year. I was very pleased to see so many people enjoy it!
I also kept working on my late Writer's Month prompts, and my favorite for that month is obvious:
* Let Your Backbone Slide: My first time writing trans porn... finally, I can put what I want to see into the world (Dom trans/cis sub, in case that wasn't clear.) I like this one a lot, tbh. I'd like to write a sequel/related fic sometime soon.
Finally, the last month of the year: December! My end of the year was really busy. I had a lot on my mind. Still, I managed to post a few more Writer's Month fills and one very special fic:
* De nouvelles saveurs: My last fic of 2023! And it's in French! It's 12k words of flirting via baking croissants. Before writing a short thing for my FIAB fill, I hadn't written in French in over a decade... so it was an interesting experience. I am pretty happy with the result though! The croissants (quaso) got baked and that truly is all that matters.
I'll finish this off by giving a quick shout-out to the old fics I posted throughout the year. These are the fics I wrote back in 2016, as mentioned in the introduction of this post. Noah slowly encouraged me to post them on AO3, even the ones I was the most embarrassed about. Since they've all been backdated, I don't remember the exact month (of 2022) they were posted on, so I'll just give them to you in their original chronological order:
* Fighting With My Weak Hand: A post-canon story about Lysandre trying to earn forgiveness. (Yes, it was already my shit in 2016.)
* Status Symbol: Car sex.
* A Lesson in Self-Control: Omorashi.
* This Is the Finest Game, It Ain’t Even Got a Name: Spy AU. Very self-indulgent.
* Midas Touch: Lysandre doesn't masturbate. Augustine investigates.
* Give Me Fire, Burning Hell: My original soulmate AU.
Phew. Okay, now that that's all out of the way–

What 2023 Has In Store (Hopefully)
I have a lot of WIPs.
See, at the beginning of 2022, I told myself I'd only have one WIP at a time. That way, I could focus on one thing, and get things done at a good pace. Unfortunately, as I began writing more and more, and chatting with Noah about ideas, I started listening to the devil on my shoulder telling me I could just work on multiple things at once.
...and I could! At the end of the day, "a lot of WIPs" isn't actually even that many WIPs. Still, I have a bunch of stuff I'd like to get done in 2023, writing-wise:
— I have an unfinished SLaWCS smut spin-off that's like two scenes away from being done and has been for months. I really need to get back on that.
— I have, of course, part 3 of my mutual pining series. I'm nearly 10k into that and Arceus knows how long it'll get. But I'll finish it this year for sure!
— I have the few prompts left from my Writer's Month, most of which I have ideas for if I haven't already started them. I will complete it this year (and not give the prompt list for this year a try, I'm sorry–)
— I have a few challenge fics I started and never finished that I might or might not go back to. (One I'm fairly confident I can finish; the other I have no idea where to go with so it might stay unfinished forever. Maybe I'll share what I have at some point.)
— I want to write in French more!!
— And, last but not least, I'm desperate to write more SLaWCS. I want them to get married!! I spent most of the latter half of 2022 writing shorter fics, and I really want to get back to longer works. I want to drop 60k of wedding planning that only five people will read. This is all I need to stay alive.
As for the rest... I'm still itching to participate in exchanges and other fandom events, so I have plans in that vein, but I don't want to give it away too early. I'm very grateful for the support I've gotten this year, no matter the content... Thank you for all your comments, asks, tags, kudos... I wouldn't have written this much without you! I don't know if I can aim for more than I did in 2022, but I'd like to keep at it, at least.
So here's to another year of Pokémon fics... and art! If you've read this whole thing, thank you, too! I appreciate it! 🙏

Okay...so hey, I rarely posted anything on tumblr but I just have to share some of my insanity because the latest episode of TBB had been on my mind all weekend and I just can't stop thinking about Crosshair (im so worried for this twink of a man).
*SPOILERS FOR S2EP12 OF THE BAD BATCH*
(But seriously though any of you should probably already watched this episode, it's just too good to not get spoiled by some random post on tumblr...)
I must confessed, I made a private playlist dedicated to this man's miserable, horrible life to remind myself that he is indeed...miserable (what can I say? I like it when my favorite characters suffer).
And after shifting through songs that might fit his character I came across Muse's song "Hoodoo" AND I GASPED. This song's somber atmosphere just fits Crosshair's tragedy and the overall Western themed instrumentals is just the cherry on top. Like...come on!
Being the obsessed Crosshair simp that I am, I immediately associated this song with his freaking arc in this second season every time I listened to it. I mean...just look at some parts of the lyrics...
"Build a new reality
Draw another picture
Of the life you could have had
Follow your instincts
And choose the other path"
- Crosshair's inner self telling himself to switch sides??? Specifically when he finally came to the realization that the Empire is treating him like shit. Probably wayyyy before that when he had some conflicting thoughts working under the Empire, especially when he discovered that Commander Cody went AWOL. He's now wishing he could've instead joined his old squad back on Kamino...
"Come to be
How did it come to be
Tied to a railroad
No love to set us free"
- Crosshair is realizing that it's far too late for him to properly redeem himself. He feels trapped and hopeless after failing to save Mayday and I imagined he is welcoming death with open arms after shooting lieutenant asshole as his first and last act of rebellion. With his last thoughts being that his fate ended on that ice planet with only death to set him free.
"And I've had recurring nightmares
That I was loved for who I am
And missed the opportunity
To be a better man"
- ughhhh this last part!! It resonates with Crosshair's tragic end to his Imperial arc as he look up on the Ice Vulture circling in the sky above... Thinking back to his old squad before blacking out.
Tumblr media
But as we all know...his suffering doesn't end there. I just hoped he survives by the end of this season, his arc is too good for the writers to just kill him off. 🥺
(I'm probably reading wayyy into the lyrics of a Muse song. But what can I say? I'm obsessed with this man)
