I think the most time was taken by the final panel and adding in the finishing touches since I pretty much had to change everything to the pixel level, quite literally lol (I'm serious, I did)

Welp I hope the results were worth it! And with that, another one gets a good ending!!

I kinda didn't add sleeves in the first two panels of the final page because it didn't look good and looked janky with how I was editing it so yeah please ignore that-

Tom & B'Elanna give off closeted gay vibes in that I think if you asked them to describe their ideal woman and man they would respectively describe a swimsuit model (bonus: who's Not Like Other Girls) and the lead in some sort of romantic novel. Nothing even close to a real person. The most generic you can get about straight romantic and sexual attraction.

#B'Elanna would say that OR she'd just name some incredibly basic things that make you sad when you hear them #I can 1000% see a canon scene where B'Elanna is upset about random ensign guy not meeting her standards for a date #and everyone's of course of course of course like 'well YOUR standards aaare a little high B'Elanna' ha ha ha and B'Elanna's like #(she's upset but trying to work to take her mind off it) 'Is it SO hard to find a guy who-' then proceeds to list off basic things #the writers think women want and it's all soft romantic things and Tom's like (bc this is ostensibly a romance scene between them) #'B'Elanna are you serious?' (What???) 'If you went out with a guy like that you'd eat him alive. You need a guy who can keep up with #your-' (I swear to God if you say my temper.) '-Passion.' <- his hands are held defensively in the air and his tone is sarcastic. B'Elanna #is pointing a space wrench or something at him. she quickly pulls away. frustrated and embarrassed. #and everyone's like wow this a very good romantic scene we did that really well I think. #in reality the scene was B'Elanna being upset - Tom making fun of her and ignoring the fact that she's a romantic but in the writer's minds #its Tom being romantic and charming and signaling that he's interested in her

i do think as writers and creatives we would all benefit from letting ourselves embrace and enjoy being a beginner at something. and not just in a "because one day you will improve and see how far you've come" way but actually enjoying being an amateur at something in the moment. embracing the fun and excitement of something new even if you don't really know anything yet. like i'm making a worldbuilding bible for the first time and do i have any idea what i'm doing? no. am i having fun? absolutely

#what's that thing where it's like it can be harder/less enjoyable to be intermediate than a beginner #because becoming aware of your improvement makes you more hyperaware of where specifically you're struggling #anyway being a beginner is so fun i think all of us should be beginners more often #don't think about your lack of experience or knowledge compared to others just have fun because yayyy shiny new thing to play around with #also i dont believe in the scale of beginner to advanced writer really!!! #like yes i would say i'm 'experienced' but only in some ways! like litfic and flash and character development #im absolutely a beginner when it comes to proper novel writing or speculative worldbuilding #that's not to diminish anybody's hard work or progress it's just to say that beginner and advanced are not too far off separate entities #they're things you can be simultaneously and i think its actually very beneficial to be simultaneously #because you should never believe you are Too Experienced or Too Knowledgeable to keep learning new things #trying a new angle of writing as a beginner will teach you things about writing you won't learn from #and staying where you have the most experience etc #and also its just fun! mix it up!! try new things!! be free #even if its just a silly little side project

Seeing so many fics now not have many comments but so many notes really frustrated/ saddens me :/

people deserve to be told their works is good, that silly line they threw into the third paragraph referencing that show / movie was noticed, that they did not waste their time working on free entertainment for us.

It’s just so frustrating to click into a fic with a good few hundred notes and the only comments are “part two” or “tag in next part” cause like? How about some appreciation for what we already gave you before you start asking for something else that you’ll probably just disregard aswell?

man Billy and Max really should have been military brats. It would have slotted them so cleanly into the narrative.

The government beefing up the military presence in Hawkins, Neil being brought in to oversee operations (maybe utilize Will Chase instead of giving him scraps?)

An organic way to insert Max into the plot without it being cuz the boys like her and creep on her. It even gives Mike a good reason to be a little bitch about her hanging around, since he has good reason to not want the government anywhere near them.

So my answer here is two fold:

Technically there have been canon comics where Captain Marvel is affected by fear toxin (Shazam #12 i believe), bringing his greatest fears as Billy to the surface despite him being powered up. There have also been other non fear toxin induced events to a similar effect.

But to be perfectly honest, the comic I'm thinking of largely included him being affected by fear toxin as an excuse for a more experienced Batman to save the day and highlight his own inexperienced fighting style.

So as with most things, Cap's immunity to toxins (including fear toxin) varies based on what the writers want to happen in their story.

Personally, I think that he should be immune to standard fear toxin or at the very least be able to power through the hallucinations because of the courage of Achilles. I mean what's the point of having supernatural courage as a power if you can't overcome a chemical to induce fear? Especially if perfectly ordinary human Batman can do it with sheer willpower?

Mostly I think a lot of people have the tendency to downplay Cap's abilities while at the same time hyping up Batman and his rogues. If Cap's powers are actually understood and respected by the writers there really shouldn't be much to worry about with fear toxin (unless there's a a team up with a magical villain enhancing it or Billy is caught in it before he can transform. Then we might have an interesting story).

So that's my two cents on the subject! I'd love to other people chime in!

actually making my tags from my last post into their own post. writers who struggle with grammar, spelling, typos, errors etc i love you. writers who struggle with rereading their stuff thoroughly no matter how much they try, who don't always have access to other people to help them read i love you. whilst reading through and checking for these things is good practice i really believe that the weight of it should not be put wholly on the writer's shoulders. especially writers who are neurodivergent, disabled, have any condition that can impede their reading + comprehension, are overworked and overtired, are not writing in their native language, list goes on....because grammar mistakes/language mistakes/typos have nothing to do with your abilities as a creative. this is where editors should be uplifting writers, helping them, not scrutinising them for something they cannot always control

#and in case anyone is going to say it...like i said in my tags i get that it can be frustrating #if it feels like a piece has NOT been reread or checked for these things at all #but even then its like...do you know the writers context? their background? #does the story itself still hold up strong creatively? #im just saying some leniency and grace goes far and esp in the short story/litmag scene i think #an editor who is considerate and inclusive should not use those things against a piece's worth #for me its like....1) the word spelling and grammar check is really confusing to work with sometimes #and also just. straight up does not work sometimes #and 2) no matter how much i reread and check for spelling and grammar i will forget a word. i will misuse a word. i will forget things #a bitch is forgetful! a bitch struggles with rereading their pieces and i do what i can to help that #but i need help and grace from the editors who wish to work with me! #i remember one time i wrote vacancy as vanacy in an excerpt in a writing update #literally passed me by and i was so humiliated?? nobody even pointed it out #but i assumed people were going to think of me less that i would make a simple mistake #its just...v hard and daunting being open with your writing sometimes lol lets all be kind to each other
