A potentially very useful support spell that you could give to your characters who specialise in cryomantic abilities could be one which brings about a sudden very dense bout of snowfall to a specific area which massively hinders visibility.
A fitting name for this spell would be snowscreen (because it's just a smokescreen but with snow instead)

You know, it's kinda funny how much of high fantasy centers around kings and nobility and courtly intrigue considering that the archetypal high fantasy, Lord of the Rings, had the rather explicit moral of "saving the world is up to this backwater hick and his gardener because no politician, least of all inherited nobility, would have the ability to see past their own ambition and throw away a weapon". Oh sure, Aragorn is a great king and all, but there's a reason he's over there running a distraction ring while the hobbits do the real work. Sauron loses because he gets distracted by kings and armies and great battles (i.e. typical high fantasy stuff) letting Frodo and Sam sneak through his back door and blow it all to hell.
Just saying, maybe old Jirt knew what he was saying when he said that the small folk doing their best and holding to each other was more powerful than a dozen alliances and superweapons and we should respect him for it.

It's possible that some of these aren't, like, the /best/ idea...

Kidnapped Persephone Style
Me: *tossing prompt idea up and down in the air before chucking it into the Void we call the internet*
Jason is dating Ghost Prince (not yet King) Danny and goes on a really awesome and romantic date on his day off. He forgot to tell the fam though. So when Red Robin comes to give Jason an update on some entil, he watches in muted horror as Jason is 'kidnapped' by a glowing entity in black armor and a nightmare looking horse (Danny is a bit busy doing paperwork, so he had his Fright Knight pick Jason up) off of a Gotham rooftop and into a green portal, while the knight had proclaimed Jason as their future Kings 'intended'..
No one on coms is ready for Tim to yell out
"I THINK JASON JUST GOT KIDNAPPED PERSEPHONE STYLE!!"

In a portal fantasy, like narnia, do you have any idea how a person coming there for the first time can earn money?
Ideas for Earning Money in a Fantasy World
Assisting someone in cleaning something. (houses, armor, swords, inns, etc.)
Selling vegetables grown from a garden. (either starting your own garden or stealing from someone else's.)
Odd quests. (a little old lady really needs you to collect six frog eyes and yes, that's gross, but she's going to pay you in gold coins so it's worth it.)
Running errands. (You need to take this very important letter to a neighboring kingdom and you'll be paid greatly if you survive.)
Cooking meals. (Maybe in your original world you're really good at cooking. Your skills will be useful in a kitchen that has no experience in meals you are used to. Providing new recipes will earn you a pretty penny.)
Kill the beast that's been terrorizing the town. (Good luck.)
Sign up to be a knight. (Free lodging, free meals, maybe you'll make a little money too.)
Selling collected items. (Travel from town to town with items you've stolen collected along the way and sell them.)
Become a fisherman/hunter. (Sell the fish you catch or the animals you kill.)
Hope someone takes pity on you. (Tell them you've fallen down a rabbit hole and are in a strange different world and all you have are the clothes on your back. Maybe they'll take you in and you can exchange chores for lodging and meals.)
Carpentry. (Learn how to carve and whittle wood into cute little figurines. Or learn to repair wooden items like carts, tools, etc.)
Play an instrument. (Play music in taverns or town squares.)
Offer protection. (If you know how to use a weapon, offer protection services to people traveling from town to town.)
If you like what I do and want to support me, please consider buying me a coffee! I also offer editing services and other writing advice on my Ko-fi! Become a member to receive exclusive content, early access, and prioritized writing prompt requests.

Magic's been restricted in Hawkins for decades. Not by any law, or enforcement of the city guard, but by the fearful nature of man. Rumours of curses and spells, fear of the unknown - it has people scared.
And scared people lash out.
So people stopped doing magic in Hawkins. People stopped doing magic visibly, in Hawkins. They keep it behind closed doors, locked up tight.
Eddie dabbles in it. Small things. Good luck charms, cleaning spells, minor wards to keep the rain from leaking through the thatched roof of his and Wayne's hut. Nothing big, just some things he got passed down from his uncle, from his family way down south. He's thought about more, seeing how far his magic can extend - but he's not the witch, the demon that people think he is.
He doubts that the townsfolk have anything to base their suspicions on. They just don't like him or the Munson name. Him and Wayne are the ones who get the blame, but he knows there's powerful players in Hawkins. Powerful magic that's been at work a long, long time.
Eddie might not be the best mage, the best witch, but he's always been good at feeling magic.
And there's a small courtyard on the outskirts of town that reeks of magic. The strong shit too, been there for a very long time, put down by very powerful people.
Other people don't notice, it's a good courting spot - or so people say. Large trees, bushes covered in flowers, a nice cobbled path, with a large fountain in the middle. It's picturesque, romantic. And atop the fountain, is a statue.
A statue of a boy, or a young man, or however you want to put it. He's handsome, devastatingly so, with a square jaw and muscled arms. A wreath of laurels resting atop his perfectly swooped hair, and an elegant toga like robe draped across his body.
He's posed delicately, but in a way that does not hide his masculinity.
The garden always perfectly kept, always tidy, never any vermin, and no one is ever seen maintaining it. The statue never cracks, never fades, never dirties. He is always perfectly encapsulated in marble. Shining white.
Eddie is a little bit obsessed. There's not a lot to do in Hawkins, and the magic in the courtyard is alluring. It's tricky, encircled and entwined into itself - into the world around it. It's a puzzle, and Eddie wants to figure it out.
So he goes to the courtyard when he knows no one else will be there, and he makes sure to bring a notebook. Write down what he sees, what he feels.
He can feel the sun on his shoulders, the breeze gently ruffling his hair, the birds singing in the trees. Bees flitting from flower to flower, there's a stream trickling somewhere near.
The statue shines in the middle, drawing the eye.
It's perfect. Almost too perfect. Designed by man, and not by nature, perfect.
So Eddie pulls off his boots, rolls up his trousers, and wades into the fountain. Standing on the wishing coins people have tossed in. But he ignores them, of course, and heads to the statue. The more he concentrates, the closer he gets, the more he can tell that this, him, is the centre of all the magic.
The perfect statue.
Eddie can see the nailbeds in his fingers, the moles that dot his skin, the pores on his face, the lashes on his eyes. Perfect. He gets even closer, takes a deep breath, and focuses his magic. The more he looks, the more he listens, the more Eddie can feel the magic encircling the courtyard.
He swears he can hear a heart beating inside the statue's chest.

"Honey?" your Orc Boyfriend peers from your bedroom door. It's dark, the only light source is the candle that flickers dimly on your bedside table. It's stuffy and your bedcovers obscure your entire figure. But he knows you're there, he can smell you. And you smell sad.
You don't respond to his initial call. He comes over to you and bends down to your side of the bed. Your eyes are red and puffy, tears running down your cheeks silently.
"Not a good day, hm?" He asks you.
You don't respond, but that's all he needs to go and grab your favourite snack, a glass of water and your favourite book. He clambers on top of the bedcovers, opening the book to the first page.
"Tomorrow will be better, my love. One bad day does not mean the end of the world, although it may feel like it."

giants in fantasy worlds. except they're not stereotypical and brutish but like normal everyday people. academics, sculptors, librarians. you name it.
gimme a giant who carves the most intricate tools out of entire trees please. or one who chisels boulders the size of houses into beautiful statues! a giant with the largest collection of books and literature in the kingdom that gets so excited to share it whenever a human passes by. giants who study the magical properties of the world and write boring-ass research papers about them, alternatively spending their time debating philosophy with human scholars.
or give me a giant who's a bit of a brute, but a damn kind and gentle soul too! one who's powerful and not afraid to fight, but also caring of the humans around them. so many depictions of giants in fantasy media make them gross and brainless, i swear. gimme one who showers every day!!
