Okay I finally figured out Comet's origin story. Long version under the cut but short version is: knuckles finally got to reunite with the surviving echidnas but they didnt want to leave their homes to live on the floating island, so an alien felt bad for him and gave him a fankid <3
Okay so to recap stc canon: Knuckles has spent his entire time on the floating island believing he is protecting it until his people return. he doesnt remember, but he used to live in the ancient echidna city with Tikal and Pachacamac, but somehow was transported 8000 years into the future (present day). This happens after Tikal briefly brings Sonic back in time to help the echidnas fight off the Drakon empire--fish-shaped aliens that discovered chaos energy (the emeralds were made by the Drakons with the echidnas' sacred emeralds, then the echidnas "stole" them back and the drakons declared war). They succeed in beating them back for this battle, but my headcanon (which ended up being p close to what Kitching supposedly planned out) is that after this battle, the drakons come back and end up wiping the echidnas out--those that arent killed are taken off mobius as prisoners/slaves. At some point, some of them are able to escape and form a sanctuary away from the drakons.
Okay now we gotta talk about the Kaamdaarns. The Kaamdaarns are alternate dimension aliens that appear in 113, 119, and 120. They are peaceful aliens with "highly advanced science" indistinguishable from magic, which they use to disable any weapons on their planet and then also to free Shorty from his cybernik suit.
so the STORY WITH COMET GOES... Kintobor helps Knuckles to identify some kind of beacon signal that appears to be coming from other echidnas. Knuckles and Sonic hop into a spaceship (tekno and porker collab) and through a dimensional portal (tekno and kintobor collab) to find the source. they find a colony of echidnas long-established on a sanctuary planet under the protection of the kaamdaarns. the reunion is pretty bittersweet for knuckles bc like. these are people 8000 years removed from his culture. there are maybe some things still in common but otherwise their lives are completely distinct from how he grew up. and after 8000 years, very few if any of them consider the floating island home more than the place they are now. even those that might be interested in going back with knuckles are wary of the risk of leaving the safety of the kaamdaarn planet and being captured by drakons. and for a bunch of ruins... it's not really worth it
so knuckles has once again lost the whole Purpose of Everything He's Done and ummm well it goes about as well as the first time that happened
so he's hanging on by a Thread but the kaamdaarn that brought him and sonic to the village--her name's haven here she is--
says "you know what will fix that? a child." and see above: her making comet. GREAT idea, i agree. i mean the thought was more like "surely there is a way for you to both stay with your friends AND with other echidnas." but same difference. anyway sonic doesnt know what kind of egg that is.
thanks for listening. here's porker lewis as a reward :)

Listen up, chucklefucks! The FRUGAL LIFEHACKER is here to teach yo' ass' how to stretch your food dollar, with ten tips anyone can use, unless you're some goddamn ROCKEFELLER or something.
Look for discarded sandwiches on benches. If they only have one bite taken out of them they're probably still good. Two, also. Three if they're small
Consider making a garden to grow your food yourself. Then again if you have space and money for a garden you've got to have Rockefeller money, and you shouldn't be reading this then
If you have a generic enough face you can get invited to a lot of dinners. Just let them call you whatever name they say you are and say you got amnesia after college
Go to a grocery store. Go behind a grocery store. Go to the dumpster. Root around in it. Find documents incriminating the night manager in a fraud related to vintage Pog sales. Blackmail him for treats
There's a building called a "food pantry". God, it's so disgusting that some rich asshole could have a whole building for a pantry. Back your van up to it in the middle of the night and "redistribute the wealth" into your pantry
See someone eating a sandwich, hamburger, or a hot-n-ready pizza from Little Caesar's? Well, ask yourself this: do they look like they need food more than you? If the answer is no, then lifehack their face a bit and take their lunch
Sometimes if you lifehack their face a bit too hard, you may end up with some...extra protein on your lunch. Bonus lunch! Take that, Rockefellers!
Hide in a clump of trees in a park and look for people walking a dog. Small dogs are the easiest, big dogs are the most rewarding but hardest to st...liberate from their captors. It's so disgusting how our society imprisons animals for our own vanity, we must rethink our relationship to animals. Anyway once you get far enough away, you eat the dog
Double lifehack: the bones will make a wonderful decoration for your home, or lair in the woods! But make sure there's no meat on them anymore, we aren't a goddamn Rockefeller
Dumbass animals sometimes get run over by cars. So here's what you do. You scrape the roadkill off the road, right? And you take it home with you. If you happen to have a state-of-the-art genetics lab at your house, you can just culture the cells of the roadkill and produce artificially grown meat ad nauseam. God, saving money on groceries is THAT EASY and nobody even TRIES.

have a word-salad kisame drabble thrown together while i was ugly crying over my fav mitski playlist :' ) *blasts my love is all mine on repeat x 1000*
tags: canon character death, canon character x reader,
kisame is less of an 'i'm going to make you mine' and more of an 'i want you to make me yours' man
always to a cause has he been dedicated, always to the aspirations of those higher on the chain than himself has his life been devoted.
he wants little and has nothing; even his sword, the gluttonous behemoth of gnashing teeth and merciless scales forged to rip and shred, could one day find its fill of his chakra and rebuke him for another.
his body, his power, and his life have never been his to declare dominion.
and belonging is something life has always deprived him of. to a friend, a team - or even something so small as a warm body that wanted him anything other than fighting or dead.
grandiose confessions and flowery words are two of many things that exist beyond the realm of his ability. never could he be a man who whispers heartfelt declarations of love and light, but he is a man who could devote himself to you.
his blade, his blood, his body, to his last breath.
only if you choose him.
the words 'i love you' may never fall like honey from his lips - but in the sanctum of the sun's waning light on a sodden, bloodied battlefield his brow could find its home against your own, the ghost of affection unfamiliar twined in his words when he offers himself in his entirety to you.
'let me be yours' is just as much a promise as it is a claim, spoken uncertainly and in feigned jest, through a sawtooth grin that always follows a battle hard-won.
heart pounding and lungs pitching their protest in the dry burn of every breath drawn, he is a man that lays his life like a token at your feet; if only you promise his fealty is kept true in the iron of your loyalty, and unyielding in your times of need.
never will you be his, not by his own word, because nothing in life that belonged to him has survived safe or untainted by the blood pouring like wine from his leger.
kisame wasn't born a monster, he doesn't know why he bites. death and bloodshed only found him young, and never has he been able to find its exit. too late is it now for him to ever hope for an end found in quiet or peace.
so in this world of manipulation and hypocrisy, please, let him belong to the lone pillar of sincerity that he has come to know as you. let his faith, his trust, his life belong to something more kind than the monster that became his namesake.
just so he might be able to - in what time he has left - drag his war-weary bones back to the first person that ever felt like a home, and wrap that someone so precious in his body, like a fortress impenetrable by all that might hope to harm you.
in this life, short and cruel, let the last memories his dying neurons fire be that born from the gentle warmth of your loving compassion for a man so unworthy and broken.
let him die knowing that, in this life, the love you shared was the one thing that belonged completely and entirely to him.

Lifehack: if you find yourself "stuck" on tumblr when you know you should be doing something else, give yourself a set procedure to switch from tumblr back to the thing you're supposed to be doing. Especially if that procedure has a step that feels like it's "wrapping up" what you were doing on tumblr.
For example, mine is:
Check notifs one more time (I'm not in the habit of clicking anything unless it's exceptional) so that I feel I have done a nice "wrap up" task. If I was thinking of writing a post, that could be the wrap-up task instead.
Close tumblr and temporarily close my laptop
Stand up and walk into the kitchen to get myself tea/water/coffee. Do a stretch and a couple deep breaths while I'm there. Contemplate the next step I have to do on my Task while I'm away. The point is to "reset" and switch from thinking about tumblr to thinking about the Task.
Sit back down, open my laptop, optionally put on a playlist, and open the relevant document(s).
*Choose a wrap-up task that is not likely to suck you in and perpetuate the cycle for you. Some people might find it easier without the wrap-up task if they think they have the willpower for that. I don't lol :3

im likely not the kind of person to be giving out writing advice, but
(as an infomercial)
DO YOU HAVE LOTS OF BOOK IDEAS THAT YOU JUST WISH SO BADLY YOU COULD TURN INTO FULL ON BOOKS??????
WELL DO I HAVE THE THING FOR YOU!!
INTRODUCING, THE NEW FORMAT OF WRITING...
THE ONE AND ONLY EXCEPT THERE CAN BE MANY...
THE TaleBook™
WRITE SHORT STORIES ABOUT BASICALLY ANYTHING!!!
MAKE THEM AS LONG OR SHORT AS YOU WANT!!!
HOLD THEM TO A SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER STANDARD OF QUALITY!!!
WRITE STORIES ABOUT CHARACTERS YOU WISH YOU HAD DONE MORE WITH IN THE ORIGINAL BOOK!!
AND MAYBE EVEN SAY IT ISN'T CANON SO YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!!!
I cannot continue writing like this.
Basically, you feel like this idea is great but you lack the motivation to turn it into a full book? Put it into a big heap of short mini-books that you can do whatever with.
It's like a book where there's a bunch of fairy tales, like Grimms' Tales for Young and Old.
Maybe even make the whole backstory for a character that seemed shallow at the time.
NOW, I DO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT TO LEARN ABOUT WRITING AND SUCH, SO THIS MIGHT BE HORRIBLE ADVICE, BUT I KNOW THAT I MYSELF AM DOING IT, AND I THINK IT'S AN AMAZING IDEA, SO UH, MAYBE IT IS.
MAYBE THIS IDEA ISN'T ORIGINAL IN THE SLIGHTEST.
I DO NOT CARE.

Writing
"All style is, is the awkwardness of a writer in stating a fact. If you have a way of your own, you are fortunate, but if you try to write like somebody else, you’ll have the awkwardness of the other writer as well as your own"

STUFF I DIDN'T KNOW WHEN I WAS STILL ABLED...
Taking notes is a lifesaver.
.
My memory sucks now. And one of my worst symptoms is confusion. Throw in that when you're exhausted all the time, your days blur together.
But to get help, you have to show up to appointments on time. You have to explain how often your symptoms show and what actions worsen your troubles.
I dunno, Doc. My brain is a wet ham. Lemme see what I wrote down.
Every appointment goes in my phone calendar with who the doctor is. Then I can look later and say helpful stuff like, "Yes! I did see Dr. X on Octember 32nd," or "Yes! I will see Dr. Y on Marjuary 44th."
I have a little notebook that goes to every appointment with me. I write down questions I have before the visit. Then I write down the answers during the visit. There's usually instructions for tests or appointments or medication adjustments. Write them down, too. Later, when I talk to family who want to know that my doctors are helping, I can explain how the visit went. And I don't forget to schedule tests!
I have a computer file for taking notes when I talk to the government officials running the social programs I use. Being on the phone with bureaucracy! Ugh!!
I have a "To Do" list of big things. I have a separate list of small things. On days with energy but no brain, I can do from the small list. On ambitious days, I can take from the big list. And on neither day will I waste precious energy or brainthink juice on trying to remember what needs doing.
And... most important of all. When words were so hard and diagnosis was so far away, I made a checklist of symptoms. I only had to put an "X" in the row next to a symptom if it was happening. The columns were all the dates in the month.
I could hand my doctors months and months of symptom sheets and not have to explain too much. We could see the chronic migraines, the indigestion, the exhaustion, and all the rest. Patterns got visible. And because it was dated, doctors took it seriously. I don't need to keep those sheets anymore, but they're one of the big reasons I got the help I did.
I am still supposed to be logging my migraines, though.. I'm pretty bad at it. When they happen, I can't think to write things.
But it's been like that for lots of my symptom flares. So when I'm clear-headed, I do my best to go back and mark things
The notes themselves are important, but also important? Remembering not to beat myself up when I mess up. No one is perfect and disability makes it tougher. Bullying myself won't fix it.
.
This helped me, maybe it will help you. Try not to start it all at once, that can be overwhelming. And seriously, don't kick yourself if it's too hard. Maybe see if a friend or family member will help you.
.
Seems like something we should all know.
.
.
.
Disability happens to people without our control or consent. Every single disabled person has strong feelings about their own situation and I would not presume to talk about anyone’s thoughts but my own. But none of us chose to do life on hardmode, so if the world could listen this month, there’s a lot to say.

It's hilariously effective. Social pressure is magical.

Sea shells by the seashore
Life is like taking a walk on a beach,
Picking up sea shells.
Some fall off when my hand is full,
I always try to pick up the fallen shells too;
Because they are too pretty to leave behind.
I even pick some broken shells,
I glue them together
I never stop no matter day or night
Yes, I slow my pace when I am tired.
I will limp on one foot if the other is broken.
But I won't stop.
I tripped over and scattered all the shells.
It took me two years to pick them all up.
Yes, I lost some of the ugliest ones.
Yes. UGLY. I am thankful.
There were some pretty ones that I didn't care enough for
But I know that I pick the most beautiful one today.
And even if it falls off, it will have its
Impressions in my heart, till the day,
I break both my legs and lose my will to go on

This is gonna sound weird, but... if you have back or shoulder pain, try reading stories about massage, especially ones with detailled imagery. It helps. I'm not sure why exactly, but I suspect the vicarious relaxation helps untense muscles and therefore alleviate pain.
I have fanfic recommendations if anyone wants them. I specifically have platonic recommendations, because that's my personal preference and they're hard to find. You can also go to AO3 and go through the 'Massage' tag but then you have to filter out the sexual stuff if that's not what you're looking for.

Another Vulgarlang cheat.
Open Vulgarlang in two tabs.
(We do this because when you use presets of morphology that are on the site, they automatically enforce spelling changes which we cannot control, since they are behind a paywall).
In Tab 1, open Phonology and enable Word Structure.
Do the same thing in Tab 2, but with Advanced option on.
You need three presets from Tab 1: initials, finals, and vowels.
Let's go with Persian initials, Swedish finals and Latin vowels.
Next, paste as follows into Tab 2:
IMPORTANT: Just below V, the formula for S should be S = CV CVL VL
Tab 1 is no longer needed (it was our preset donor, xd).
Scroll lower in Tab 2 and go to Affix Patterns.
Type in this:
Hit "Generate"
Best picks:
taugsebtant /tau̯gˈsebtant/ v. open
ʻaemaarr /ʔae̯ˈmaːrr/ adj. gay, homosexual >:3
partaekh /parˈtae̯x/ n. map
aʻdenseq /aʔˈdenseq/ n. crystal, prism
faemot /ˈfae̯mot/ v. refer
felvig /ˈfelvig/ v. smile, smirk
ikhshott /ˈixʃott/ adj. single
sang /saŋ/ n. feeling
sauks /sau̯ks/ n. knife, blade
sei /sei̯/ adj. national
