still writing my short story, very slowly. it’s nearly done (yes, I’ve said this for a week now)

I think I need a break from it and to work on something else. I want to write something under 1500-2000 words because everything I’ve written lately is 3-5000 and variety is good!

I feel pretty sad about being such a slow writer. It makes me wonder if I’ll ever get anywhere with my work.

Writing Log: January 2024

My streak of shit months continues: I spent two-thirds of Jan sick. I didn't write on a lot of days, predictably, but when I did write, I was pretty inspired. Let's see what February brings 🦑

taking the flesh is the only virtue [JJK, nanaita and goyuu, Yuuji goes into premature rut after the vs Mahito arc, and Nanami ends up “helping” before Gojou shows up to escalate matters]: 11,068

i could keep your bed warm, otherwise i'm useless [JJK, sukuita and goyuu, Sukuna in Megumi's body rapes Yuuji to break Megumi's spirit, and Gojou rescues him but isn't very sane afterward]: 21,702

It's been half a year since I sent my book to my beta readers. Tomorrow, I will work on the feedback-fueled editing 💪

It's been a wild time. Ever since I sent the thing, I drafted the next novel, a short story, and a novella. Some people never got back to me. One told me, upon me asking them about it, that they quit at some point because they found it's not their genre (which would have been nice to be told without asking but maybe that's just me). Others went through stress, covid, depression before they even touched the file

But now, I got one full feedback and two to follow very soon. I have honed my skills, got some highly valuable criticism, and now it's time to make this thing great, to make it ready for a wider audience 💪

heart hollow writing updates from this week:

seriously drafted chapter 10. I've been stuck on it, but I think I've finally got the structure of it down. thank god bc this chapters been killing me for months.

redid the master arc list (now labelled 03/22/2024) to accommodate for three books. nice and even pacing for all my big events. it feels right.

I'm considering adding a 13th chapter to book one. something to tie it off with a pretty bow; add some excitement for the remainder of the series without leaving it off on a total cliffhanger.

broke down the thematic north stars and underlying narratives for each book. this will help me to fill in the gaps later.

jotted down some ideas for possible book names. I think book one will be called "Heart Hollow." just that. nothing more to indicate there's a beginning or an end.

wrote a drabble for chapter 10. I remember now just how much I love writing romance.

that's about it for this week. nothing added to the actual document....... I am planning to work on chapter 10 this upcoming week, much more free time! yippee!!

Summary thoughts below the cut!

It feels insane to me that even though I've been struggling quite a bit with mental health and stress, on top of having a sudden death in my family, that I still managed to write a decent amount. Week 13 was my weakest one to be sure but like, hey, the two days I wrote I still managed to write at least 50 words so, y'know, hell yeah.

I was able to rope myself into focusing on this again largely because my girlfriend has been watching college gymnastics this week, so she's been using the TV and I can't sit and rot and play video games all evening, so I was like, "well fuck I might as well do something else besides sit on my phone!"

Which is how I managed to write over a thousand words yesterday and today, which I have only done ONE other time this year. Whadda fuck...

Anyways, I haven't forgotten about this project and I'm not going to! Even if I don't update this blog super consistently I will still be tracking my progress on my own. I'm really proud of myself and all the progress I've made so far. Just reminding myself why I love writing in the first place and getting back into the habit of it has done wonders for like, just stimulating my brain in general.

Soooo yeah, anyways, thanks for reading! I promise at some point I'll post some actual writing on here as a reward for the few of you who read through these long ass rambles of mine.

WIP: Project Rosary

Hello and welcome back to a new writing log.

I am slowly coming near the halfway mark in my Project Rosary Part 1. Even though life is stressful right now (exam season started in Germany two weeks ago), I am fairly consistent in writing every morning before studying.

Creating stories in these times is crucial for me. I immediately feel stressed, when I cannot write (especially if people tell me to not write during the exam phase!). It is like my little escape from everyday work.

But to be honest with you, I am currently a bit unmotivated. Not only because stuff currently happens within my family, but also because everything seems to be quite exhausting. So, what’s been new these days, is that I am trying to get anything down. A new Tumblr post, stuff for my project, new stuff… All of that.

Some of you have already seen that I came up with a new kinda fantasy story, that has no particular meaning, whatsoever.

It doesn’t have a name, beside the codename for Tumblr, so I can tag it: Project Unnamed. It is probably the shittiest story I have ever written. Not only because it is mainly pure Romantasy, which I normally don’t write, but also the fact, that I am writing some elven romance thing while complaining about how many elven or fae romance is out there? It’s kinda ironic.

To give you a little insight in the quick story (including some fancy banners I made for this):

It is about a somehow royal girl (I haven’t decided on that just yet), who lives in a world where magic is banned and seen as a wicked thing. One day, she gets in danger in the nearby woods, where a mysterious man saves her. Fascinated by his ethereal presence, she decides to find him again (which obviously works), where she finds out that he is able to control magic. He seems to come and go like a spirit and so she calls him the white spirit, also because he doesn’t tell her anything about him, besides the facts, that are obvious to her. She gets him to teach her about magic and soon enough, she finds out, that she can use the forbidden force too. They kinda have a secret relationship going on (with probably many red flags - I don’t know if he is a good or a bad guy). The drama comes from the secret relationship and when people find out about the elf in the forest.

I already know that this is going to be bad. I have no intention on publishing it. Maybe one day on Wattpad or as snippets here on Tumblr, but this is probably the most cliché Romantasy story you can come across. Even though I kinda like the characters…

But this is never going to any publisher in this world. It’s to bad for that.

If you are lucky enough to grasp an update on this story in form of a writing log, you are probably blessed. Project Unnamed is not even considered an active WIP.

But back to the original project, of which I am very proud of.

Project Rosary is still right before the half-time of the book, but I only have to finish the current scene and I am done. I like the pace in which things are falling together. Also, because I have the time to come up with solutions to plot holes in the storyline.

Now, as I am slowly coming to the end of one book of the series, I ask myself more, if I should wait until all seven books are done and then publish the first one. If people read the current book first, they will be (a little bit) spoilered for the rest. But if I publish the rest first, they get spoilered for the current book. It’s a bit of a challenge here, since everything connects to each other.

Luckily, I have until the final draft is done, to decide wether or not I publish now or later.

I’ve closed all chapters in life, burning them, and watching the ash kiss my soft skin. It feels refreshing, but its truly tragic, i dance among the stars, while you’re still stuck in time, chasing at what you’ll never have. I descend into my new reality, I’m always becoming anew, yet you’re still the same. Bitter. I waltz away, finally being set free, while you sit in your own despair, grasping at what i have. Its not yours. Its mine. Such an inhospitable thing to be around, taking away everyone’s last breaths just by existing. Sucking the life out of every single good thing, molding it into something its not. So fitting, its not surprising at all how envious you truly are, its rather funny. Envy, jealousy and hate, it all suits you perfectly. You sit in silence with all these feelings, unwell within, as it claws at your soul. How does it feel to be on the other side? Finally, this is what you deserve. Suffer. You did this yourself. I don’t care to watch anymore, but everyone who had to endure you, they can enjoy it.

- nothing can kill an ego as big as yours. How tragic.

Adrenaline seeps through my veins as carefully crafted lyrics and instruments align in a perfectly organized ‘mess’. The music hits my ears in the way a late night flight does when you’ve been counting the days until the trip and it’s finally here. 505 is admiring the mix of reds, purples and blues in a thunderstorm behind the safety of shut windows. 505 is settling into a thick fluffy comforter and the faint smell of popcorn before starting a scary a movie. 505 is a Friday night before a long weekend. 505 is seeing a close friend after a while. 505 is missing the memory of a friend more than the person they’ve become. 505 is the smell of fresh colourful blooming flowers in spring infiltrating your senses. 505 is walking under fresh rain, letting rainbows pass you by. 505 is every little perfect moment, 505 is every persistant memory that won’t leave no matter how hard you try. 505 is every moment that allows passion to spill and deep into our lives. 505 is moments that make the world a place full of colour(not black and white) and intricacy.

I wrote this in late feb, looking back it’s a bit off but I thought I could learn a bit from posting it. Any constructive criticism is appreciated.

writing every day in march // day three

today definitely felt like the first day of spring!

i find it really hard to accept that first drafts suck, and that it’s okay to start drafting to explore ideas without having 100% of the plot outlined yet

spending this afternoon/evening doing a first draft for one WIP, and just taking notes and brainstorming for another. i’m definitely gaining a better understanding of them both and why i’m writing them, which is great :)

This was a good month, writing wise. The Shibuya swap has spiraled entirely out of control—quick, everyone act shocked—so now I've got another novel-length fic in the works. I intend to spend March chipping away at this while also tackling the April anniversary ficlets; let's see how that goes.

Ugh. Well. Apart from the fact that I think I hurt my ankle a little bit, I guess today was alright. Apart from the rain. I'm not a fan of the rain. Especially not as I'm heading to work. Rain on the way home from work is more than okay, because I'm on my way home.

THOUGHTS So I haven't written a single word until Sunday. Seriously, zero. None. Nada. And then the writing Gods were like "hey, wouldnt it be fun if we just made this gal here chug out the rest of the chapter she was struggling with in one sitting?". And you know what, it was fun. Tho it's a mess and I'm not as happy with the second half of it yet, but it's done. I also needed to realise (again) that Lonel will be very, very graphic. He's big on details which is crutial for someone who investigates, and he also works around death. So, yeah. Anyway, the make me write poll is not even over and I'm already done with the chapter, but if this one wins, I'll use that to edit what I got. Until then, on my way to the next chapter.

INSPIRATION SPARK: A tiny glint from Across The Spider-Verse, and the second season of Good Omens. Really tiny, barely noticable. But we started those, and I'm trying to gather every crumb of inspo I can get my hands on. From Spider-Verse it was mostly the vibe of the city, especially colour-wise. From Good Omens, well. I guess Crowely has a slight hint of Selys inspo if you squint. I enjoy them both nevertheless.

Weeks 8 & 9 Update

Okay, so it's...been a busy/rough/complicated couple of weeks! But I haven't forgotten about this, and I'm still dedicated to it despite how many days I've missed. Instead of doing the daily word count though I'm gonna condense a little bit, just so this isn't such a long post.

Technically, if you average it out, I still had an average of at least 50 words a day for both of these weeks. And I'm nothing if not a lover of technicalities.

I had a lot going on the past couple of weeks so I haven't really had the energy, the time, or even the inspiration to work on much. That being said, I have a few new projects in the works on top of continuing to revise the one piece that I've spent a lot of this blog's lifespan working on.

Writing feels...lonely, sometimes. I think that I'm so afraid of criticism that I'm reluctant to share my work, but even when I do share my work I'm not guaranteed feedback and that's almost worse. What do I do if nobody says anything about the stuff I send them? I automatically assume it's trash and I should give up writing forever. Obviously.

I hate that my thoughts always jump to the worst possible outcome for this type of thing. I'm working on it though. In the meantime, I'm going to continue writing because god at least it's something other than mindlessly scrolling on my phone. And it makes me feel good.

Anyone reading these updates still, I love you as always and thanks for your support, however silent or vocal it may be.
