Chapter 6 Part 3 + Major System Public Update! 🎉

Hello everyone! 👋 It's finally time for the public update! 😁 This update brings in 24K of new words, bringing Chapter 6 wordcount in total to 89.4K words and the total demo wordcount to 325.3K words! This update brings Chapter 6 to a neat close, which is important because to me, Chapter 6 is like the end of the first arc of the book. 

Not only that, but I have also added a few major coding functions with this update, namely, a skip chapter function, and an autosave and reload function. I'm aware that my demo is getting longer, so I assume a skip chapter function might  be a welcome addition. 

It took me a long time to plan and figure out how to implement these systems, but in the end, after a lot of personal testing, I have finally managed to make them work.

WARNING: It's highly advised that you either play from the beginning with clean saves (or try out the new skip chapter function). I messed with some of the old variables as well, including Santana's and Skylar's default relationship values. Do not reload the saves to avoid potential future errors.

What's to expect from the new update:

Dropping Rin off to their apartment (and maybe, if you've been a good boy/girl, you can get a little smooch 😘)

Have an angsty talk with Uncle Luka 😥

But don't worry, there are potential wholesome moments too (if you choose them, of course 😉)

Another POV of the killer 😈 To see more on how they think and what they know so far.

Brand new skip chapter function! (Currently only for Chapter 6)

An autosave and reload function! (Currently only for Chapter 6)

Plus some new little stuff added in previous chapters.

New stuff added to previous chapters:

Chapter 2: Add proper introduction scene with Ivan and Boris, the twin bodyguards, highlighting their different personalities and their relationship with MC and Ash. They have changed quite a lot and become more fleshed out compared to the first time I wrote them.

Chapter 4: For MCs who said yes to Yvette when she asked them whether they are interested in becoming a Superhero, you now have the option to accept her guidance and reconnect with her or reject her guidance but still have a choice whether to reconnect with her or not. This is in contrast to how those who said yes was forced to reconnect with her.

Chapter 6: Meddle, fix, and add some background variables. Another reason to play from the beginning and to not load old saves.

do I have 2.2k of a buck/tommy hurt/comfort thing already written where buck needs to cancel their plans cuz of a migraine and tries to hide that from tommy only for tommy to suspect something then come and dote on him sweetly? well if you know me then you know the answer to that

Tommy cleared his throat. “Again with the tension. You know we don’t need to do anything, right? I get that this can be a lot, and the last thing I want is to be that guy, ya know?”

He rubbed the back of his neck, wincing at the awkwardness, then glanced up, one eye squinted shut like it would make it easier to meet his gaze. “That guy?”

There was a worried-looking wrinkle between Tommy’s brows and a pinch to his mouth, as he seemed to study Buck. “The one you end up regretting ‘cos you were worried about doing shit you weren’t ready for yet.”

Yet.

That was a word. Three letters and full of promise for a future. One that he still couldn’t believe had been right in front of him the whole time—except perhaps he’d needed the time to grow towards it. Because even months ago, he might not have been the version of himself that’d had been ready for this step—he’d still been cooking—but now? Yeah, that kiss had broken him free.

A few tight nods, then he dropped the hand from his neck. “Yeah—uh, definitely—no regrets.” His throat felt swollen as he tried to swallow, eyes raking over the bulk of Tommy’s chest—the bulk of muscle that triggered a mixture of emotions.

“Tell you what, how about we stick a pin in things for the night—hey, don’t make that face,” Tommy said, the corner of his mouth quirking up as he caught Buck’s chin with two fingers and made him meet his gaze. “Because I’m definitely not done with you, alright? I just want to take things slow—you deserve to be treated right.”

important update

so mhh hi! i thought about this a lot, but i will go back to posting on ao3 again because this place is just not doing it for me anymore. the last two fics i posted wouldn't show up in the tags in any way, i had to delete the post (for the halloween fic) and i had to delete tags and links on "cause it's you", the community label hides posts, people don't reblog and leave little to no feedback and i put way too much energy into my stories to get angry at tumblr every two seconds.

i decided to start writing here because it felt like a community unlike ao3 but, honestly, i don't feel it anymore (and it's fine, people have lives outside of here, i don't expect everyone to interact with me but it saddens me a bit to have almost no interactions, especially when i see other writers have many asks or in general see them talk with the readers a lot, and after 4 years i just don't think i'm going to build that). i love writing, i genuinely do, but all my energy seems wasted sometimes and i need to focus on other stuff. i have many fics in mind actually, some are even finished and i was eager to post them but right now i'm not in the mood at all.

i made a twitter account (PUT YOUR AGE IN BIO OR ANYWHERE I CAN SEE IT or you won't be accepted) so if you want you can follow me there and know if and when i'll post on ao3 (might also post teasers, or write small drabbles there and post nsfw links) and talk about nct in general. i'm not leaving, i'll check the notifications and everything, i just won't be posting my writing here (still not sure if i won't post it here anymore ever again or if i will post it here a while after posting it on ao3).

in the meanwhile i'm also reposting some of my old fics on ao3 so if you want to re-read them there, you can do it! (and maybe get used to that site if you'd like to still keep up with me and my stories)

He threw the iPad aside, no longer caring about this week’s meals, the hunger in his belly nothing compared to the prospect of jail. He put on one final burst of energy, heading through another deserted alley in the hopes of losing the cops in the next block over…

Wham! Something heavy collided with him from behind with full force, knocking him to the ground instantly and sending the breath from his lungs. “Stay on the floor!” There was a familiarity in the voice…

He gasped on the concrete, trying to crawl away from the threat, but the officer was on him, and before he knew it his hands were being pulled behind him and he was in cuffs, powerless to do anything. 

“Easy kid, you’re down!”

“Take a breath, don’t make me arrest you.”

The officer whose voice Spider recognised had his knee pressed into Spider’s back, but as Spider stopped writhing, he relinquished his weight and helped Spider sit up against the wall. 

“Shit,” Spider said, throwing his head back and closing his eyes. 

“I recognise you,” officer Quaritch said slowly, tilting his head to the side. Spider glanced at him and straight away placed him as the cop that had let him off last month. He had no idea if this was a positive coincidence or not. He knew about Spider’s previous offence but was also sympathetic. 

“You’re that kid without a name or address.”
