I kinda like thinking about a part of Obito's and Rin's dynamic that feels (for me) often overlooked...and it's that Rin was Obito's best friend (and presumably vice versa, although I can't say for sure on that part...Rin seemed like a social butterfly seeing how she organised and connected she was with the others. Still, she had a special friendship with Obito, so I assume he was her best friend too, especially with how protective she was of him). I feel like most of the time this part only gets closer attention when they're seen as friends only/exclusively in a platonic light, for example when Obito has a different love interest or when romance as a whole isn't a focus.

I think there's something sweet about examining the friendship while Obito's crush is still present. They had a strong bond that goes beyond just him crushing on her, which is a rare concept (in my opinion) in the story. A lot of other crushes we get to see (Sakura's crush on Sasuke, Naruto's crush on Sakura, Hinata's crush on Naruto) start out from afar and with the direct intention of romance. Obito and Rin started out as friends, before he got into the age to develop a proper crush. He didn't fall for a stranger, but for his best friend, who's sweet, loyal and has been his biggest supporter his whole life.

I want to see them hanging out, I want to imagine their inside jokes, the embarrassing stories they know about each other and bring up constantly, them instinctively knowing the other's likes/dislikes/allergies, the little pet peeves. Rin always reserving the seat because she knows Obito will be late, in turn, Obito develops a habit of getting her a hurried thank you gift on the way as soon as he notices he's too late to make it in time. Rin has a mental list of the weirdest and of the best gifts she got out of this. They know each other inside and out. The day Rin is the one to get sick and Obito plays nurse, she'll get surprised by how many little things he picked up from her, just by virtue of soaking up every move she makes. And she'll laugh till her lungs hurt when he still gets it wrong.

They don't feel the same kind of love, but they love each other.

It was a lovely evening on the Hermitcraft server, a time when most residents were relaxing at their bases. At the moment, Joe was reading a fairytale to a half-listening Cleo who was working on a scrapbooking project.

“Then the brave knight lunged forward,” Joe read aloud. Cleo hummed in response, carefully tearing a piece of washi tape off the small roll.

“Failing to notice the enemy’s feint, he took a heavy blow to the side,” Joe continued, “However, he continued to firmly stand his ground,”

Joe took a moment to adjust his glasses before turning the page. “His enemy leered. He glared back. The knight had the upper hand, and they both knew it.”

Something was different about the last few sentences, and Joe frowned. Were the words… glowing?

“Joe?” Cleo asked, turning her attention to her friend, “Is there something wro-”

Her words were abruptly interrupted by a shout and a loud metallic thunk.

“What in the-!”

A man in light metal armor and an empty scabbard at his waist groaned on the floor, clutching at his side. His sword lay a small distance away, black blood splattered on its edge and slightly staining the floor. Looking up, bright blue eyes met green ones as the stranger made awkward eye contact with Joe.

Never Ending Mistakes

Is it they’re? or their? or is it there?

I believe we, non native english speakers, have stumbled over that mistake. I personally always misused they’re and their. So here’s the difference for who needs it.

They’re is short for They are and means multiple people a non-gendered person or someone you don’t know the name of.

Example: They’re hungry. They are hungry.

Their means that somebody is in possession of something.

Example: Their car, Their home, Their kitchen

There means in, at, or to that place or position.

Example: We went to brazil and stayed there for a week. We went there to eat pizza.

The same also goes for ‘You’re and your’ It’s the same principle.

I am delusional. I once got so confused that I couldn't differentiate my reality from my dream. And I guess, I went crazy right after I fell in love. It's agonizing to death when you love someone so much. The pain makes you feel so alive in a way that you go bonkers. Sometimes, I abhor myself, I abhor the amount of love I have for someone who never loved me back. It almost sounds like I am self-pitying, but I am not.

Once, I had gone back to my hostel to get some of my stuff and asked him to wait near the hostel's main gate. When I came back, he was nowhere to be found, and at that moment I realised have I gone crazy. Because I thought that I was just imagining him, a beautiful dream and that he never existed in reality. But then I suddenly saw him, standing in the corner under the walls' shadow. And then suddenly the bitter truth pierced my heart, I couldn't believe that I was in love nor the fact that someone loved me too, even if it was the briefest love affair. After the passing of three months, it had become a cup of poison that I had to drink every day. I was unaware that I was drinking poison, the poison of love.

Some people keep telling me how breathtaking and amazing it is to be in love, and I won't deny it. It's astonishing to love a stranger so much so that in such a short period, you become incredibly accustomed to his existence. As if, his existence is all that matters in your life. You forget all about yourself, I have been told how I shouldn't do it the next time I fall in love. But you see, it's quite funny when someone tells me how to not repeat the same mistakes I made with my first love. I admire their optimism, and their hopes, they feel that one can fall in love again. I know a lot of people who have fallen in love an uncountable amount of times. I am in awe of their bravery, but I am not brave at all. You may call me a coward but I won't be able to fall in love again, ever. It's scarring and scaring. And I have more than enough scars and injuries on my heart and body, inflicted my me and my loved ones, including him.

Headcanon that if Rin did not die and got to become an adult, she would not grow her hair out.

Headcanon that the Team Minato kiddos found out what style works for them when they were young and stick with it forever (see Obito and Kakashi both still rocking the same haircut as when they were genin)

Headcanon that instead of changing hair, they all get scars. (Obito's face, Kakashi's scar over the eye, and Rin gets a nice scar on her chest that spreads into fading marks and trails up her neck, shoulders and arms from the lightning damage.)

Something something, words words, I'm supposed to post the last sentence of the last thing I wrote. It was rather fun looking at my past works, and I may end up posting some more wips after this.

I also have more recent writing... but it's less writing and more scribbling down a half baked idea between work or sleep or anything else. That, and an idea for my next DND campaign that I simply will not spoil.

Without further ado, a small sentence from a likely never finished untitled role-reversal Good Omens AU.

"It's going to be night soon, and they've got no way to defend themselves."

I'm literally 5 paragraphs in and I think that's where the project dies, unfortunately. But because of the dour vibes of that one, I've got another sentence from an original work. Still sad, but at least the piece is somewhat finished.

Sometimes your voice disappears, and I can only hold my breath until it beats in my chest again.
