Like Billy Batson would obviously have a terrible time if he’s exposed to it but would Captain Marvel, setting aside the fact he doesn’t need to breathe, be fine?

I don’t have a penny to give but I request thy thoughts.

So my answer here is two fold:

Technically there have been canon comics where Captain Marvel is affected by fear toxin (Shazam #12 i believe), bringing his greatest fears as Billy to the surface despite him being powered up. There have also been other non fear toxin induced events to a similar effect.

But to be perfectly honest, the comic I'm thinking of largely included him being affected by fear toxin as an excuse for a more experienced Batman to save the day and highlight his own inexperienced fighting style.

So as with most things, Cap's immunity to toxins (including fear toxin) varies based on what the writers want to happen in their story.

Personally, I think that he should be immune to standard fear toxin or at the very least be able to power through the hallucinations because of the courage of Achilles. I mean what's the point of having supernatural courage as a power if you can't overcome a chemical to induce fear? Especially if perfectly ordinary human Batman can do it with sheer willpower?

Mostly I think a lot of people have the tendency to downplay Cap's abilities while at the same time hyping up Batman and his rogues. If Cap's powers are actually understood and respected by the writers there really shouldn't be much to worry about with fear toxin (unless there's a a team up with a magical villain enhancing it or Billy is caught in it before he can transform. Then we might have an interesting story).

So that's my two cents on the subject! I'd love to other people chime in!

part of me: yeah i mean it's mayyybe for the better that amity didn't get a hooked nose *in canon*, considering that feature is stereotypically associated with jewish people, and amity was initially introduced as an antagonist with a wealthy and powerful family, and that fact could have played into some bad stereotypes before her and her family got more fleshed out

also me: but also i am ethnically jewish and have a prominent nose and i just really wish there were more female major characters w features like that who aren't treated as ugly by the narrative and i like her i think it would be neat if she had a hooked nose like her dad

#sidenote: #i am very relieved that her parent w the button nose is the money-hungry one working for the evil government #while her parent w the hooked nose wants no part of any of that and joins the protagonists and puts doing the right thing over money #instead of the other way around #also i think there's been similar said about the fact that she's white #amd how it's a mix of wishing she wasn't white bc it would be do nice to get more representation through the protag's love interest #but also the fact that if the wroters weren't careful they could've played into stereotypes w her and/or her family #abt being aggressive or obsessed w academics or overly strict or greedy etc #(tho it'd prolly be doable esp w her redemption and how if they had made her latina or black or east asian it would be offset #by the fact that this show has main characters of those ethnicities who DON'T adhere to any of those stereotypes) #and how the blight family represents unfair privilege so giving them white privilege (even if it doesn't exist in-universe) makes sense #tho i myself am white so i don't think i quite have anything to add to THAT particular discussion #but yea #eliot posts #toh #the owl house #amity blight #anyway i at least FULLY love when she's given her dad's nose in FANON

the thing that annoys me about how the writers treated paxton and devis relationship is that they knew going in it had no endgame cause mindy kailing is mindy kailing (side eye) but like, paxton actively got better and grew so much being with devi. and so did ben, but paxton became a better person/partner because of devi and they could’ve been really nice during season four if they didn’t kinda decide to make paxton come back to high school instead of like, actually developing him and maybe reaching out to devi and stuff
