hello! uhm I'm speaking this into existence. I'm leaving for Belgium as an Erasmus student and I'm soon going to visit all the places where WTFOCK was filmed. I'm so excited because I love Sander Driesen so much. Is there any chance someone from Belgium would like to come with? We could chat a bit and see if we could get along and are comfortable around each other first, no pressure XX I don't mind going alone and i have already found all the addresses but idk. might be fun!!

Turns out, revisiting early pandemic times is… interesting.  The WTFock mini season is a fascinating artifact of its time and we give big props to the creators for trying it. Sobbe is mostly a miss for us this time around, alas, and to no one's surprise we're still huge Zoenne stans. Join us as we discuss the creative storytelling of WTFockdown!

I miss that time during lockdown when everyone was still here after S3 and we got Wtfockdown and the cast posted a lot on social media and the show was still so so good

Thoughts on wtFOCKDOWN
I just finished wtFOCKDOWN not too long ago and, putting the format aside, it’s kind of pointless? Yeah it progressed the plot to an extent, but for the most part it’s just kind of a bunch of fluff.
The most significant thing to happen is Zoë getting back together with Senne. This is a pretty significant change because that usually doesn’t happen until the end of Sana’s season and if they’re getting together now that should impact Yasmina’s season. The fact he never left is already significant itself but the fact they’ve gotten back together already even moreso. If they keep that storyline for season 5 it’s going to be really weird because it doesn’t make sense.
The next biggest thing is that Jana is moving to New York. I say next biggest because unless they plan on replacing her with Kato (Please don’t confirm or deny this.) I don’t expect it to actually happen. Otherwise it’d be the most significant thing to happen. While I’ve mentioned my expectations I’m still interested in seeing how this storyline pans out.
Finally the least significant thing, but still important, was Robbe and Sander’s plotline. It helped show how far Robbe has come as a character and how he feels more comfortable in his sexuality. I’ve seen a few criticisms of them showing the cybersex but I’m not sure I agree with them? Yeah there’s an argument about it being fetishized and how the characters being teenagers makes this creepy, but it honestly wasn’t that explicit and was about as explicit as other sex scenes in Skam. It could’ve been cut and nothing of value would be lost which is why I say it’s not as significant as the other two, but I don’t have a problem with it.
Tomorrow I start Kato’s season. I’ve heard less than pleasant things about it, but let’s see how it goes.

wow, just when I thought that wtfock was long dead and buried and forgotten… the question is do I even care? It feels a lifetime ago when I was a fan of it.

I agree with that anon. On one hand I’m sad we missed out on a chance of a beet S4 but on the other hand I’m grateful we got Wtfockdown (my favorite original skamverse season ever) and we got to keep the show and it’s cast for an extra year longer than we thought

I still don’t feel that Anaïs’s season has reached Zoenne’s level of popularity though. Or Sobbe’s or wtfockdown era…
What is the wtfockdown era?
Maybe, I think some people are either still distrusting of wtfock in general or don't even know there's a new gen

I still think anobbie is going to go in the reverse of zoenne's plot mainly because they dont have enough time to clean up some of Bobbie's standalone plots like they didn't with Senne. Even if we get "endgame" I dont think its going to be as clean-cut as endgame I think it will be more like "lets see where we go from here" after finally telling Hanne and everyone else what happened. Because Anais has spoken about their lack of trust and mainly because we will not have enough time to clear up Bobbie's own addiction issues which Anais has said she has issues with. There is tops 15 clips left and at an average of 2mins so that's 30 mins till the end. We still have to get to: The confession Hanne being mad at Anais The friend group forgiving Anais The friend group addressing what they will do with Bobbie Anais & Bobbie The party
We literally just won't have time to address bobbie's issues similar to Senne's plot in s2 which we carried into s3, wtfockdown, S4.

What is your Skamverse story?
I found the Skamverse exactly when I needed it. On one of my many YouTube rabbit holes in October of 2019, I came across two boys goofing off in a grocery store. Immediately intrigued, I learned of Skam and simultaneously started watching wtFOCK season 3 live while catching up on Skam and Skam France, followed by Skam Italia and Druck. Within a few months I'd watched nearly every version multiple times and absolutely adored Sobbe. When the pandemic hit, wtFOCKDOWN gave me something to look forward to every day, and I will forever be grateful for that experience. From there, it was an easy jump into reading and then writing fics, joining the fandom on tumblr, making new friends, and finally participating in last year's bang. I'd never written fic before nor been active in fandom, but I loved the Skamverse so much that I felt compelled to join and participate. I needed to share that love with others. I needed to talk about it. More than anything though, writing Sobbe fic gave me an outlet and a safe place when I thought my world was crumbling around me. Robbe and Sander will forever hold a special place in my heart because they were there for me when I needed them.
Why are you excited to participate in the Skam Big Bang?
Community. There is something so special about being able to talk with others who love the thing you love as much as you do. I had a wonderful experience in last year's Bang, and I particularly appreciated the community we built on Discord. I'm excited about meeting new people, getting to know other people's Skamverse stories, and reading their fics and looking at their art. I'm excited to share our writing woes and act as cheerleaders for one another. I enjoyed writing and posting my fic last year, but what I loved most was having people to talk to about the Skamverse. That experience was everything, and I want to carry it into this year's Bang.
What would you say to someone who is feeling nervous about joining?
The Skam Big Bang community is very supportive and welcoming. I was new to the Bang last year and didn't know anyone. I found the Discord server intimidating at first, but it ended up being the most enjoyable aspect of the Bang for me. Everyone--mods, writers, and artists--was willing to jump in with an idea, a suggestion, some research, a gif to make you laugh, or a virtual hug. We are a diverse, worldwide community with a broad range of experiences. Wherever you feel like you might struggle, I guarantee someone will be there to support you along the way. Someone has been where you are.
If it's the deadlines and word counts that concern you, think about the timeline. There are 5 months between sign-ups closing and initial posting. Seven sentences a day or 500 words a week would put you over 10k. When you break it down like that, it feels like a much smaller task. Lastly, it's all about having fun, celebrating our love of the Skamverse, and creating new fanworks to share with others. Take a chance, and give yourself the opportunity to make friends and share your passion with others.

Ohh since you watch it, it's worth to see other versions of skam? Or only that one? Or all of them are good?
oof how do i explain the intricacies of the skam remakes???
druck: amazing and great until season six. recommended seasons: s3, s5 and s6. nora’s season is everything. fatou and kieu my my beloveds. ava deserved so much better. i would’ve written a better season for you isi. fuck season eight
skam france: garbage can from the beginning. still going for some fucking reason. the wlws were spit the face and thrown out like trash. the horrible bully got a fucking redemption arc. it does build character to watch this remake. watch at your own discretion
wtfock: wtfockdown and yasmina/younes are possibly the only good things to come out of this one. season five is a big fuck you to muslim people and people of color. fuck this remake. i’d watch it for yasmina and younes all over again
skam austin: the remake that had potential but they didn’t allowed it to flourish. only two seasons
skam nl: same as austin
skam españa: amazing and great. then sana’s season happened. because every sana season is cursed to be subpar. wonder why
skam italia: whitewashed sana??? don’t even bother

I also think that with 39 seasons (plus wtfockdown and the upcoming Italia season), it's actually not that difficult to tell already in the first week whether a season is going to be bad.
Just going off the first episode, I was able to make predictions such as Zoe and Yara being paired off for insta content (didn't guess that it'd be as a couple), that Ava would be sidelined and sammified, that Nora would be demoted because the actress would be busy, and that Fatou would play the role of the best friend instead of Nora as a result. I was able to predict the exam storyline would be a major part of the season and others predicted that the Zoe/Mailin conflict would take up a large part of the season. All of this based on the first episode alone!
I understand that people want to be optimistic and positive going into any season, but what I don't agree with is casting those who judge the quality of the season based on the first episode as shitting on a season for the sake of shitting. 39 seasons in I do consider myself qualified to judge the quality of a season based on ep 1 alone, because I've already watched many seasons before that, and the overall quality of the season was already obvious in episode 1. I encourage anyone who disagrees to name one season that ended up being redeemed in viewers' eyes after a shitty first episode.
(And no, wtfock s3 doesn't count because wtfock s3 fans are going by the collective headcanon version where things like Sander not wanting to go to the police was explained, and things like Sander cheating on Robbe after the hate crime didn't happen.)
What tends to happen more often is the opposite. A season that seemed to start well ends up devolving into some mess after ep 1. It happens a lot with Sana seasons for instance.
But the opposite, where ep 1 is worse than the rest of the season, will always be a lot rarer because writers tend to put more effort into the first and final episodes of every season, just because these episodes need to set up and conclude all the narrative and character arcs. These episodes get revised the most because as other arcs and elements get added to the overall season, the first and final episodes get revised to introduce and conclude those elements. When a season/show tackles on a major arc that hasn't been introduced in some way in ep 1, it is an obvious sign of bad writing. That is why Druck introduced Ben in ep 1 despite doing jack shit with him for weeks, because he needed to be in ep 1 if he was going to be the season antagonist.
