This is honestly going to suck but-

Okay, I don’t see enough people talking about this so- here we are. This will contain spoilers for the analog horror series, Guilty Tears Au of Sanders Sides. If you haven’t seen it or if any of the following triggers you, please skip: (I am listing the triggers from all the episodes just in case you want to watch it as well so some won’t make sense on a tumblr post, but just in case-) Disturbing Imagery, Loud Sounds, Body Horror, Blood, Gore, Death, Violence, Food (more like implied cannibalism, but ok-), Flashing Lights, Spiders, Ladybugs.

Now if any of that bugs you, I would say that this isn’t for you. This is just my personal opinion and analysis on this series! So let’s get started:

Episode 1: Teachers PowerPoint

So, we’re starting off with a very simple format; a PowerPoint presentation called “Dreams, a Manageable Analysis by Logan Sanders”.

Like omg Logan is so cute in this 🥺. He keeps talking about sleep and the benefits and downsides of it. But something is… off about it. The monitor keeps glitching out and skipping parts of the presentation. It skipped over the definition of Non-REM sleep, and it just is a bit strange. Then this happens:

And then it gets closer T-T. I kinda jumped when I saw it ngl- Then he gives us the definition of a nightmare. It kinda was normal at first but then-

Like wth-? This was honestly just weird to me me, cause he looked like a fucking demon- this isn’t even the weirdest part (and therefore not the most interesting).

Now, the first one is obviously a reference to everything going on with the wedding arc and… other things. Missing Important Events? The callback. Loneliness. More so up to interpretation, or is it? I’ll come back to it later. Rejection? Again, back to it later. Confusing Emotions? All that Thomas has been dealing with for a WHILE. Broken promises, WTIT, anyone?

Wow.. well what I say about this, is that Logan is snapping at Thomas again, cause as we have seen, he tends to distract himself rather than actually solving his problems. Logan is trying to communicate with Thomas again and he. Won’t. Listen.

After that we got a number sequence:

19/20/15/16/9/7/14/15/18/9/14/7/18/5

If you line it up with the letters in the alphabet, you get “Stop Ignoring Re”. I thought I heard it wrong but I didn’t-. So there had to be a reason for it to say “Re” instead of “Me”, right? Right. I’ll be tying it together, I swear. Just bear with me here. I also find it interesting that a YELLOW GLOVED HAND turned off the monitor and put an out of order note on the screen (I mean it was pretty glitchy so I mean-).

(Also there is a sticky note on the bottom left corner that reads “DONT LOOK BEHIND THE CURTAIN” keep that in the back of your mind c:)

Episode 2: Forgotten Fairytale

So it starts with Janus opening a story book titled “The Young Prince”.

This is interesting- I see a little crown charm on the bookmark- Erin focus- okay so the cover already grabbed my attention. At first cause I thought of beauty and the beast and

H O L Y S H I T the parallels. We have a mirror with a green gem on the handle (I don’t think it’s important but I could be mistaken-). In it, a black wilting rose. Black roses itself mean death, while the wilting flower by itself means “Term used to supress desire when it would otherwise be impossible to fornicate.” Roman wanted to go to the callback (and ask out Nico), but it seemed just out of reach, so he ended up with choosing an option that goes against himself (Virgil helped him with Nico but still-).

To the actual story, it talks about how lonely Roman feels (Loneliness huh?) and that he wants to meet his true love. He searches and searches but can’t find them. One night, a witch pays a visit. He says that he wants to make a deal: he will give Roman his “one true love” in exchange for half of his kingdom. Roman didn’t want to risk it, and told him no.. the witch did not like that.

He cursed Roman, and his face had melted off. Overwhelmed by heartbreak, he locked himself in his tower. The people eventually forgot about him and he died alone, holding the wilted black rose..

And then Janus literally closes the book on that tale-. So Roman’s I feel is more metaphorical, he feels like his world is falling apart, trying to use love to distract him from the pain of his decision to go to the wedding, and the moment he was attacked, no one helped him.. (Janus I love you but you’re a bitch-)

Episode 3: Cookie Mistake

(Yes I’m sure it’s a pun off of Rookie Mistake, it’s Patton what did you expect?)

So this an actual person acting out Patton this time.

The puns 😭. But yeah, it’s a simple baking tutorial! And it’s a mime kinda thing, so we have dialogue on the screen. It seemed normal, but this is Guilty Tears.

He dumped the flour into the bowl and made a little bit of a mess- it’s baking what are you going to do about it? But Patton started shaking slightly saying “That wasn’t supposed to happen…” It’s okay I know you said you were feeling “crumby” but damn- it’s just flour.

Ok then, laying it on thick. So Patton is freaking out over the little things and these little messages pop up. “Do you feel guilt consuming your every thought?” No I don’t think so- but this is maybe reference to POF, where he caused Thomas pain without realizing. The “Nobody is free of sin” seems like a twisted version of their new concept, “Not everything is black and white.” Patton is trying to distract himself from what happened and is only stressing himself out more.

HOLY FUCK, PATTON- Okay. So there’s obviously SOMETHING going on. Why did he have blood in the first place? Why’d he think it was a good idea? Patton are you a cannibal now-?

This gave me an idea.. this could be both figurative or literal but, the blood is on his hands.. Let’s take a look at Virgil’s episode.

Episode 4: Wake Up Call

According to (assumedly) Thomas’ phone, it is 3:23 pm. April 23rd. Almost his birthday, hmm.

Holy shit- no✨ Dolls are creepy enough-. Anyway, it’s starts off by (I assume) Virgil asking Thomas:

So one answer is normal, one is more normal for Thomas and the other sounds more Anxiety related. He chooses to brush his teeth, but they fall out. In dreams, teeth falling out are associated with loss and important life changes. Thomas has been struggling to coming to terms with the fact that he isn’t a complete pure good, and his life has changed drastically. This series started from a silly blog and now it’s a series dealing with complex and controversial issues, while he’s struggling to show the world who he is.

With the answers, they’re the same type. He chooses to make breakfast, but in the fridge with Virgil Doll, is a fucking skeleton/corpse and the fridge is all bloody. The “blood on his hands” thing might be more literal than we MAY have thought. Did Thomas kill someone? If so, who did he kill? I’ll get us there (hopefully-).

Okay- Hi Virgil- so, here I want to point out c. “I promise tomorrow I will change I will be a good person I will clean”. As soon as it had showed up on the screen, Virgil appeared. Thomas is making promises he can’t keep.

(“WHY DON’T YOU LISTEN TO ME? AM I A JOKE TO YOU? I TRY SO HARD TO BE PATIENT AND GIVE YOU TIME, BUT YOU CHOSE TO MAKE A STUPID PROMISE INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING”)

Seems like Logan had another good point- Thomas keeps trying to say tomorrow this and tomorrow that, but Virgil knows. He wants Thomas to get up and be productive, but with Logan “out of service” you have anxiety based motivation. Virgil, being his anxiety, is also reminding him what he did.

At the end, Virgil doll is hanging by a thread (literally) and we see a gloved hand cut the thread. Setting Virgil free for now..

Episode 5: Important Reminder

Thomas is upstairs, and is going down to his living room to answer a knock at his door, and it is a WRECK. But worse than before. There’s blood on the walls and all that. He picks up “The Young Prince” something he apparently used to like during childhood, and finds this drawing between the pages:

“Have you ever imagined killing your brother?” “This is me electrifying my brother!”

Could this imply that Remus was actually the supposed witch? It was (possibly) the drawing mentioned in the Moving On episodes within the pages of a book where Princey died. This could be implying that ever since Remus appeared, Roman has been hurting. Maybe because he blames his dear twin for the murder?

…

THIS IS WHY WE SAID DONT LOOK BEHIND THE CURTAIN-!?

Okay- I’m okay. If you can’t tell, the word “unhelpful” was written in blood, and there is some behind the curtain. I can’t tell who it is tho- Patton? Nightmare Nico?

Speaking of Nico, ✨R E J E C T I O N✨

But really, Thomas is obviously having issues. He tried to get out the house, but Nico was busy that whole week. (Including his birthday 😢)

When he finally answered the door..:

As we’ve seen in WTIT, Thomas is scared of getting older, so I think it’s interesting that Remus called him that. “I can show you how bad things can truly get” I think this is his twisted way of saying “Get over it, you didn’t do as much harm think you did.”

(“Stop Ignoring Re”)

But of course, Janus closes the door on him, shutting him away from Thomas.

Episode 6: Blinding Denial

>No no no.

>I’m fine, I’m alright.

>I’m just…

>I’m just tired.

>I’ll fix it tomorrow, okay?

>I promise.

Thomas have still not learned? 🤨

I feel when Janus leaves the baby crying, he’s not talking about a literal baby, but Thomas. Janus has been sheltering him from the sides trying to confront him (Turning off the PC, Closing the Book, Editing the Video + cleaning the blood, etc.) but has had enough of Thomas prolonging the inevitable.

“You’ve been walking in circles”

“You’re running away from yourself”

He squished the Ladybug. Whilst crushing the hope that good luck will suddenly make things better.

“It’s time to move on and forgive yourself”

Just a thought...

"You're not listening."

"There might be something in the oatmeal and if I choked there would be nothing I could do because"

Anyone notice those changing pictures in the background? Remember where we also saw changing pictures? Patton's room.

The green lighting was quite an obvious sign that Thomas was getting lost in Remus' schemes, but remember how different the lighting was in Virgil's room compared to all other non-room videos?

Also, sides can't change things irl but Remus built his contraptions to direct Thomas' attention just fine.

The mess also fits in his aesthetic, although I fully believe it Thomas' real mess.

Could Thomas be in Remus' room? Or maybe, teetering on te edge of it and Logan is trying to pull him back every time. That last one would also explain why Logan isn't really affected by Remus' room like he was in Virgil's.

I don't think he willingly or consciously went there bc, like, why would you ever want to? But I think his lack of control over the situations he's in, with covid and social distancing, with his friends moving on, moving away, with Nico... I think he is dragged there, sometimes, and it gives Remus more control over him.

okay, so... the new episode came out and i was sucked back into tss against my will. sorry to everyone who followed me for dsmp stuff 😅. buuuuuuuut- that means it’s time for another character analysis!

So I want to talk about Remus.

There’s been a lot of theorizing about Logan’s character development and the orange side (which i am super excited for!!) but i haven’t seen that many posts discussing Remus’s role in this last episode, which I think was a LOT more important than we all realized.

Here’s the thing: Remus is smarter than he looks. We haven’t gotten to see much of this before now- I mean, sure, he had like an entire 45 minutes devoted solely to him, but that was just the introduction. There’s clearly a lot more to Remus than he lets on, and we got a bit of that in WTIT. Now this episode was great for a lot of reasons, but especially because it started to answer a question i’ve had since DWIT-- what is Remus’s purpose? He’s intrusive thoughts, yes. But that isn’t why he exists. Every side has a certain job to fulfill, all of which help thomas in some way. For example, Virgil’s title is anxiety, but his purpose is to keep Thomas safe.

So what is Remus really trying to accomplish? If we just look at DWIT, it seems like all he’s trying to do is hurt thomas. But that can’t be right- it seems the only common factor between the sides is that they all want to help thomas as much as possible (though they have very different ideas of what ‘help‘ is). So how does Remus help thomas? Lets look at what he does.

Probably the most beneficial thing Remus has done is get Logan to snap at him. Why? Because Logan ‘I do not have emotions and everything will be fine if i simply ignore them’ Sanders needed that. And Remus knew this. He also— because it’s his job--knew exactly what buttons to push to get get to Logan’s breaking point. He knows that Logan is feeling ignored- which already makes him a lot more perceptive than any of the others seem to be.

Here’s the thing: A problem can’t be solved until it’s addressed.

So what’s Remus’s purpose? What has he done?

Remus is honesty. That’s not his title, no, but that’s his purpose. To get Thomas to be honest with himself. Remus takes all the nasty, slimy, twisted parts of everyone that they’ve all preferred to just shove under the rug and he brings them to the light. He pokes and prods and needles until they have no choice but to address their problems, and, consequently... fix them.

And here’s the thing! WTIT isn’t the first time Remus has done this. Remember when he first appeared? Remember all those little comments toward Virgil, pushing his buttons and dropping subtle hints that left everyone else confused?

Remus was the tipping point, the last straw that led to Virgil finally telling thomas about his past. And Remus knew this. Sure, it was awful, and there was definitely a better way get Virgil out of his shell—but it eventually led to what we saw in the first asides. Thomas let Virgil know that they were still friends, and it was okay. They were okay, despite a rocky history.

I‘m sure Virgil himself would’ve preferred never to tell thomas— but they couldn’t have truly moved on and worked through other problems if he hadn’t.

I‘m almost certain the same thing is going to happen with Logan being ignored, and whoever the orange side turns out to be.

Remus is working for Thomas’s benefit, even if it’s hard to see.

Logan is the Orange Side: Here's why

So, guys, in Remus' book of Ignoring for Dummies there is this bit of text that says: "Are nerds in blue ties bothering you?"

It could be nothing, but that phrasing is bothering me.

Why in blue ties?

Like, no one else wears a tie. Nerd in a tie would suffice. But they still felt the need to point out the colour of the tie.

So, either the orange side just so happens to wear an orange tie just like Logan's and is also a nerd, or Logan is going to become the nerd in an orange tie.

Also, here I am looking too much into things, for sure, but:

You see how Remus is sitting in front of two pieces of clothing? One orange, the other dark blue?

And you may say, okay, but it may not be dark blue exactly. That's why I did some colour picking. You see, the dark blue, I'm assuming, shirt reads at the lower parts of the orange hue, but, the colour editing for this frame is warm tinted. That's why I isolated the colours and took samples of black and grey coloured items in the shot to show it is dark blue.

And, yeah, as you can see it is dark blue.

You can think it's a coincidence that Remus happens to be sitting behind that, but, taking into account that the team had to place the things there on purpose, I think it might be intentional, at the very least the orange garment is.

After Logan's eyes switch to orange, he looks very confused. I see people pointed out how that can indicate he's not the Orange Side, given that if he'd done it he'd be aware of it. I think if it's the first time that happens to him it would confuse him, so that would explain it.

If anything, one can argue that Logan is not the Orange Side because in SvSR there is one character from the Dark Sides that isn't unlocked yet and Logan appears on the Light Side team, albeit in grey, signalling he's inactive. If they were the same person then it wouldn't make sense to put them in separate places.

But in that same video, there are actually more instances where the orange and the dark blue are placed right next to each other.

Here the 07734 that everybody pointed out was related to the orange side has dark blue as its shadow.

And if the Orange Side is Wrath or something similar, it does make sense for that number to be related to him, given that Thomas is in a fighting simulator:

Also, if the Orange Side isn't Logan then it stands to reason that Remus and Janus would know him, given how they're all dark sides.

But if that's the case, then why are both Janus and Remus trying to egg Logan on? If the Orange Side manifests when intense anger happens, why not provoke everyone? And why would Remus and Janus try to cause people to get angry? Can't the Orange Side do it himself?

Every side has a series of abilities or areas, if the Orange Side is separate from Logan, Remus wouldn't need to be pissing him off on purpose, the orange side could easily use his power on Logan without any help.

And, let's not forget that Janus is concerned about Thomas' mental health. It wouldn't make sense for him to not let the Orange Side to the surface but still want it to affect Logan, as he's been trying to do.

During many of the videos, Janus has specifically targeted Logan, making him feel even more ignored. He made him shut up in Can Lying be Good?, he tried to avoid him in SVS, sending him to the bench once he appeared, in SVSR he got rid of him and then pretended to be him...

If they're both trying to help the Orange Side or have some kind of scheme going on, why wouldn't they just let the Orange Side go and mess with Logan instead of pissing him off?

If the Orange Side is Wrath, Logan would already be the most vulnerable to him, given that he has a really short temper. So it wouldn't be necessary for Remus and Janus to do anything, the Orange Side would have an easy time getting to him.

Unless they're both trying to get Logan on their side making him a Dark Side. Which would actually make a lot of sense.

Janus and Remus are the most vulnerable to Logan. He can use his abilities (reasoning) to show that the way they are presenting reality is incorrect. Making both Janus and Remus' jobs way harder.

If Logan turns into a Dark Side, then he could work with them and be less of a problem.

I don't think this is even out of character for them.

Logan has been feeling like crap lately. He's been getting ignored for forever. And Janus "I'm going to let Remus lose to prove a point and because I'm done with all of you" Sanders, sounds like the kind of person who would be in favour of letting things get slightly out of hand to prove a point. So I don't think it would be against his purpose to want Logan to "go orange". It would certainly allow Logan to make himself be heard, which might be good for Thomas, and would get Logan off his throat.

For Remus, though, when Logan screamed "Stop ignoring me" he was like "you're finally speaking my language". It doesn't look like he'd hate for Logan to be on his side.

And I don't mean to make Janus and Remus seem bad or anything, I think, from their point of view, this is for the best.

All of that being said, Logan may turn into the Orange Side, maybe the Orange Side is not Logan.

There are very good theories that completely disagree with what I've just said, and I think they're just as good. So no hate to the people against the Orange!Logan theory, it's super valid not to believe it.

In the end, I think whatever we get will be pretty cool.

"STOP IGNORING ME!!!"

That single phrase was still fresh in your mind as you approached the logical Side's room.

After seeing the recent video, you were obviously concerned with how Logan was doing now. Even though he reassured you he lost his cool in the spur of the moment, it seemed to be a lot more than just a simple temper flare.

But for his eyes to glow orange as he screamed? You had no idea why that happened, or if it was the influence of another unseen Side that made him lash out.

Regardless, those three words were fueled with such raw anger that you've never seen before. Coupled with Remus' comment of "who do you want to really scream that at", it was clear Logan's frustration over being ignored constantly was sending him over the edge.

While the other Sides were clueless as to what happened, you didn't bother explaining it to them.

You would rather help Logan yourself, but more importantly you wanted to understand why he felt the need to repress that side of him.

After knocking, Logan opened the door almost immediately. His eyes were fixated on a book regarding anger management, though when he realized it was you and not a Side, he was swift to close it.

"Ah, hello darling." He smiled politely, though you noticed he seemed a bit more exhausted than usual.

Between his desperation to keep Thomas on schedule, dealing with Remus' traps, and everything else...it was easy to see it was wearing him down.

"Hey..are you sure you're alright?"

"..pardon?" Now he was confused, furrowing his eyebrows as he wondered why you were suddenly upset.

"You know what I'm talking about. You can't pretend around me, especially not after-"

"Oh..that again?" Once more he tried to dismiss your concerns, shaking his head. "Listen, I can assure you I'm in a much better state of mind now. I've realized I was being too harsh on Thomas, and a fool to think Remus would listen to anything I had to say. I'm sorry again if my outburst frightened you. I'll take steps to ensure that never-"

"You didn't frighten me, Lo." Your voice became softer as you set a hand on the door.

"....I didn't?" He uttered those words with slight disbelief. And it broke your heart to realize that he assumed you were afraid of him.

"Of course not, I wouldn't be here if I was frightened." As you entered, Logan did nothing to stop you, only shutting the door once you were inside. "But it's troubling that you kept your emotions bottled up for this long and..it got to that point. What if you didn't explode on Remus? What if it was Patton or Thomas?"

"Well..if something like that were to happen-"

"It's hypothetical."

"...hm."

"You're not understanding what I'm saying." You huffed. "Repressing your emotions and letting them explode like a volcano isn't healthy for you."

"So I should just let them dictate my every thought and action?" Logan frowned slightly. "That would compromise the very essence of logic: being able to make rational decisions. It's still my duty as a core part of Thomas. You know I can't afford-"

"And you know you're more than just a part of Thomas. After that video you could've stayed with me longer..and I would've helped you find outlets for your anger. But you hid away here, going back to making stupidly strict schedules like nothing ever happened. When are you gonna realize you're hurting him, too? That you're hurting me?"

For a moment he was stunned by your words. He never considered how this would've hurt you, but...what could he say?

What could he do to remedy this?

"I think you could let out some more of that anger."

"Huh?" He blinked, surprised that you read his thoughts. "What do you suggest?"

"Well, maybe..we can go out into an open field and you can just shout your frustrations to the world and hope nobody hears?"

"........."

"I-It's stupid, I know but-"

"No, no..I understand." He cut in gently, sighing. "While screaming in an open field is usually reserved for dramatic films and is inappropriate in real life, it may serve as a good catharsis for unconscious conflicts. Granted you are somewhere open and completely undisturbed."

"Yeah! Though..it may take us a while to drive out somewhere and-"

"That won't be an issue. You do know you're in the Mindscape, right?"

"..ah, yeah..I forgot." You awkwardly chuckled, falling silent as Logan took your hands into his.

"Hold on."

In the blink of an eye, you two were teleported to another realm of the Mindscape: a wide open field at night. Countless stars and galaxies were in the sky, with the occasional comet soaring past. You noticed the observation tower in the distance and remembered this is where Logan studies astronomy.

All the Sides could make their own personal landscape if they desired to. But you were always impressed by how he made something like this, rather than a simple room like Patton and Virgil had.

Logan let your hands go and adjusted his glasses. "Now then, we'll see how this helps. The exercise of shouting into the..erm..." He seemed lost on the phrase, not having his flashcards on-hand.

"Shouting into the void?"

"Thank you." He smiled a bit before walking away, putting a great deal of distance between himself and you.

When he stopped, he stared up at the sky for some time. Then he gazed down at his hands, which trembled slightly as he began overthinking that video...and every frustration he's ever had.

All the things he tried to get Thomas to do or say..but were always ignored or mocked by the others.

He hated it..

Absolutely hated it.

It wasn't fair.

Meanwhile, you were just checking your phone, though you noticed that Logan hasn't done anything for a good minute or two. It made you worried that he was gonna back out of this and think it was a ridiculous idea.

'Maybe this wasn't a good-'

"AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"

You nearly jumped out of your skin as Logan suddenly screamed, louder than ever before. It was truly raw and heartbreaking. But even afterwards he continued shout at nothing:

"I'M ALLOWED TO HAVE A VOICE TOO!! I JUST WANT TO BE HEARD AND FULFILL MY PURPOSE!! IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK FOR?!!!"

Then he collapsed to his knees, clutching his head for a few moments before bringing both arms around himself. His heavy breathing eventually slowed by the time you approached him.

"Lo?"

You cautiously sat beside him in the grass, stunned by what you saw when he gazed over at you.

His eyes were glowing orange, tears brimming in the corners of them. Now that you could actually see them, they seemed animalistic in a way. But as he began calming down, the glow disappeared although the tears didn't as they streaked his face.

"W-Well..I..wow..." His voice was a bit hoarse as he took his glasses off, sniffling.

" Yeah..I know, love." You smiled sadly, setting a gentle hand on his back. "It's very cathartic, isn't it?"
