A hot day at the range today with my son, it was at least 95F! From left to right, my Carcano Fucile Modello 1891 manufactured in 1933, one of my Carcano Moschetto carbines manufactured in 1941, my AR15 SBR with a DDLS milled lower, a BCM upper and my AAC 556SD suppressor, my Sig 556 rifle, my WWSD inspired AR15 with a Trijicon MRO and 3x magnifier, and my purpose built target AR15 with an 18” barrel chambered in 223 Wylde with my AAC 762SD attached. The Carcanos were very picky with ammo, they both shot the best with the Steinel round nose ammo and did not care for the PPU manufactured ammo.

Snuck out for a Monday morning range day with my son who is back from college. From left to right, a WWSD inspired AR15 with my AAC 556SD silencer, my HK UMC in 45ACP, my 1956 Chinese Mosin Nagant, my 1927 Mosin Nagant Ex-Dragoon (hex receiver), my 1943 dot k98k, and my post war Czech SWP k98k. Both the Mosins and the k98k’s are not kind to the shoulder! The Mosins were pretty accurate at 100 yards but I occasionally needed a hammer to open the action after shooting a round!

Modern AU, Eddie and Steve are together and live together, Steve is a paramedic and Eddie is a bartender + fairly successful streamer. He usually plays games where you can create your own character, or at least customize it.

Steve doesn't watch any of the streams, but he's very supportive of Eddie's career.

What he doesn't know is: Eddie always creates a character based on Steve. Always.

Mass Effect? Commander Steve Shepard, brown eyes, hair and tons of bitching from Eddie during the stream that the faces are all ugly and they don't do Steve justice. He goes for the destroy ending because he'll never, EVER have Steve die in a game for good.

Dragon Age: Inquisition? Warrior Steve to the rescue. He also romances Dorian because "of course he would date a sassy gay, duh."

Baldur's Gate 3? Paladin Steven with Oath of Devotion, doing as much good as possible, keeping Gale from becoming a horrible godly being, becoming besties with Karlach and romancing Astarion because "that's just who Steve is, he believes in people even when they don't."

Steve doesn't learn about this for years. But when he does, he completely loses it at a sentence that Eddie always uses to end his stream: "Be good, guys. Always ask: WWSD - What Would Steve Do?"

And yes. There is merch with that.

Because I can’t be bothered with logging in to my NHL account to make an actual bracket, I spent hours creating my own (from almost scratch). My reasoning for my choices have absolutely nothing to do with which team I think has a chance to win, because I don't pay enough attention to any team aside from the Pens to have an opinion. Nope, these choices are all motivated by a combination of "I don't like anyone on their team" and WWSD:

Dallas over Vegas (because I’m still not over how VGK treated Flower and the Stars haven’t done anything to offend me lately)

The Avs over the Jets (because Sid may love a bracing Winnipeg winter but I’m think he’s more likely to put a person over a temperature/weather phenomena)

Vancouver over Nashville (because the Canucks rock specialty jersey designs and the Predators and their fans annoy me)

LA over Edmonton (because I have not yet encountered a circumstance under which I would root for the Oilers)

Sunrise over Tampa (because the Panthers have that pork dish for sale at their arena and the Lightning were annoying about their Cup wins, though the Panthers roster having a Tkachuk also offers an annoyance factor)

Boston over Toronto (because I don’t want Toronto to have good things, or false hope; the Panthers can deal with the Bruins in the second round)

Capitals over the Rangers (sorry Mika and Chris, but Trouba)

Hurricanes over Islanders (because the Hurricane Warning third jerseys are cool and not as orange as the Islanders’ Gorton fisherman thirds)

That means, in the second round:

Avs over Dallas (for the Sid factor)

Vancouver over LA (just to keep a Canadian team in the mix)

Panthers over the Bruins (because Boston fans don’t deserve good things)

Hurricanes over Capitals (because that Hurricane Warning third jersey really carries a lot of weight with me)

So the third round becomes:

Avs over Vancouver (because Sid)

Hurricanes over Panthers (see Round 2 reasoning)

Which creates Cup final in which the Avs take the Hurricanes (because I want to see Sid enjoying Nate’s Cup party again this summer).
