The faint hum of conversation echoed in the hallway, and as you passed by, the familiar voices of Ruby Soho and Saraya filled the air. Unable to resist the temptation, you slowed your pace, unintentionally eavesdropping on their exchange.

"I can't stop thinking about her, Raya. It's like... it's like she's taken residence in my mind, and I can't evict her. I think of her so much it drives me crazy" Ruby's voice carried a mixture of frustration and a hint of vulnerability.

Saraya chuckled softly, a knowing tone in her response, "Sounds like you've got it bad, babe. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, is it?"

Ruby sighed, the sound a blend of exasperation and fondness, "No, it's not bad. It's just... I've never felt like this before. I catch myself daydreaming about her, imagining moments that haven't even happened. It's like my mind has a life of its own."

Saraya's voice, teasing and wise, floated back to you, "You're in deep, Ruby. But from the way you're talking, it seems like you're enjoying the fall."

Ruby let out a soft, almost sheepish laugh, "Enjoying might be an understatement. It's like every little thing about her is etched in my memory. The way she smiles, the sound of her laughter, the way she looks when she's lost in thought."

Saraya's response held a gentle encouragement, "Maybe it's time to tell her, Ruby. Sounds like she's become a pretty important part of your world."

Ruby paused, a moment of contemplative silence, and then she spoke, her words filled with a quiet determination, "You're right, Saraya. I think it's time."

I'm so sorry to be requesting another thing with ruby again, I understand if you're getting tired of it and you can ignore this if you want 😅 but I had a bit of a breakdown tonight again and can you write something like headcanons or whatever of her helping her partner when they're having a breakdown at night, like maybe she just helps them focus on plushies or toys or anything like that (or maybe the spikes on her jacket or the sunflower on her shoulder, I always love those because it's more personal), and then maybe resting in bed (nothing with sleep though because I have insomnia and thinking about sleeping is stressful and anxiety inducing for me, yes I know that sounds odd but I've been like this since I was in elementary school)

I always love writing for Ruby and as someone who used to regularly have breakdowns and panic attacks, I get it. So, I hope you enjoy and hopefully this mkes you feel a little better next time you aren't feeling too great!

— Ruby knew you had your struggles, of course, like anyone else did. She never pressured you into talking about what caused your restless days, the anxiety, or eventual meltdowns when all of it got to be too much.

— Ruby never minded helping you during these times either. And she made sure to tell you that any time you got nervous of her getting tired of “dealing” with your breakdowns — “I’m not dealing with it, I’m helping my partner, and I would do it a million times, no questions asked.”

— It was a particularly rough night as it was, as Ruby wasn't with you for the majority of it and the day had been enough stress to make anyone emotional, leaving you to sit on the floor in the middle of the apartment.

— When she had come home and saw the state you were in, she wasted no time in dropping her things and crouching down in front of you. Rather than overwhelm you further with questions, she gives you a soft smile and holds a hand out for you to take if you need.

— "It was a rough night, huh?" She asked as she gently carded her fingers through your hair, her other hand guiding yours to the spikes on her jacket, to touch and feel something that could ground you.

— It wasn't uncommon during moments like this that she would use small things like that to help you relax, making you focus on other things.

— One night, she had made you name all the colors on this rainbow zebra she had purchased for you some time ago. She was so gentle and kind that night, colored nails pointing to different colored strips to ask over and over "can you tell me this color?" in a soft tone.

— "My sweet baby," "my darling," "little angel." All gentle little praises as she guided your hand over different sized spikes, before leading your fingertips to trail along her tattoos to trace the black outline of them.

— She would stay there as long as you needed her to. Even if her legs get sore from being crouched for so long or her mouth got dry from constantly whispering sweet things to you.

— When you do calm down, Ruby always asks you what you want to do, making you choose between two options such as laying down or taking a bath. She can pick for you if you need her to, she never minds and always tries to read the situation as best as she can to decide what's best for you.

— Tonight, the two of you opted to lay down, snuggled in bed with legs tangled together and a plushie Ruby had gently pushed into your arms before holding you.

— "Call me next time, okay? I'll be there in a heartbeat."

— You could always count on Ruby.

Y/n yawned as she made her fifteenth lap of her floor's hallway. She could walk and walk all night long, but the moment she laid down in bed, it was like she was wide awake. Sleep had never come easily for Y/n, but after Ruby, it only got worse. The subtle ache in Y/n's legs got to be a bit too much, so Y/n slumped back against a door and rested them for a moment. She was about to get up when the door she had been leaning against opened and Y/n fell backwards to see the reason she had lost all of her sleep staring down at her.

"Why are you here?" Ruby asked coldly.

"Trust me, if I had known this was your room, I wouldn't have sat down in front of it." Y/n didn't want to be mean with Ruby, but she couldn't allow them to share any kindness. They'd destroy each other if they got back together, both of them knew that. They both wanted things from one another that the other couldn't offer. Besides, Y/n knew that Ruby thought she was a cold hearted bitch on a good day.

"What are you doing out here?" Ruby reached out to help Y/n up off of the ground. Y/n accepted it without a fuss and quickly moved away to make sure that they kept some distance between them. Y/n assumed that Ruby probably had Saraya or someone else in her bed to keep her warm at night. That had been her spot once, but Y/n was never good at comforting other people. Ruby had come to her beaten down and broken, and all Y/n had done was damage her even more. There was no reason for Ruby to extend any sort of kindness to Y/n, but Y/n knew that Ruby still would once she picked up on how fucked up Y/n was.

"Trying to tire myself out so I can finally get some sleep," Y/n mumbled. Ruby sighed and placed her hand on the back of Y/n's shoulder to pull her further into the room. "Ruby, you don't have to-,"

"Do you think that you're the only one suffering? Do you think that I don't stay up half the night because I miss the way we used to hold each other. It's so cold at night that I can't sleep anymore. You had to practically kill yourself to show me an ounce of warmth and kindness, but fuck if you weren't the best body to have next to mine at night," Ruby admitted. Y/n let Ruby pull her over to the bed. The two of them laid there together wordlessly, with Ruby's body draped over Y/n's. Notes: I’m so glad you liked the other two I wrote for Ruby!! I love Ruby so much, so I’m always down and willing to write about her. I do appreciate your requests so much and I hope you enjoy!

— Ruby wasn’t blind, she could see just how much stress you were under lately. She might not know or understand why, but she does know that she just wants to see you happy and if she’s able to take off even just a little bit of that stress, she’s more than willing to help.

— She drags you along with her on the road, claiming she has a surprise for after the show, which she hints at multiple times throughout the night.

— Of course, by the time the show comes to an end, it’s dark and the only thing lighting your way when you step outside with Ruby are all the stars and the full moon.

— Ruby would take you to a beach nearby, only a 30 minute drive from the hotel. It was a beautiful night, no clouds to cover the stars, the water clashing together in small waves, and the weather was just perfect.

— Your shoes and socks were left in the car to avoid getting water in them. Your phones discarded in the cup holder, to focus on only one another for the night.

— Ruby would walk with you through the sand, keeping an arm around your shoulders as water splashed to your ankles from how close you two were to the ocean.

— Soft kisses were pressed to your head, your walk quiet mostly with the exception of a few comments made about how pretty/handsome you look, voice quiet against your ear and you can practically feel the smile that tickled your skin from all the affection.

— Throughout the night, Ruby occasionally adjusted her arm down to your waist, fingers tickling at your sides to pull a giggle out of you before holding her hands up in defense while holding back a giggle of her own — “sorry, sorry! Won’t happen again, babe!” was the words she used every time.

— When you two got tired of walking, you both laid out with one another in the sand, hands clasps together and fingers intertwined.

— “Hey .. you know you can always talk to me, right?” She spoke softly, looking over at you with that gentle smile and eyes always so full of love every time she caught your glance. “I’m always, always there for you. I promise.”

— Whether or not you want to talk about what kind of stress you’ve been under is up to you, she wouldn’t force you to say a thing about it. But she would let you know that she was always there for you, to listen and kiss away any tears that would fall.

— You weren’t sure how long you two had been out here, just enjoying each others company and the peacefulness that the beach had to offer you both right now.

— It had to have been hours before you two went back to the car, shaking off the sand from your clothes and Ruby brushing some off of your cheek after she pressed a quick kiss to your lips.

— As cute as a beach date was, it sure did leave a lot of mess behind in the seats of her rental car.
