title: pick something ‘you’ like who: marta roscoe (original) & reese (m00n kn1ght comic) fic idea: fear is the mind killer ship: marta & reese rated: pg-13 for like swearing & light mentions of violence. requested by: no one. it's camp nano & i felt like writing marta in her m*rvel verse & i'm basically just writing whatever keeps me writing to hit word goal. notes: i was inspired by a str*nger th*ngs gif set i lost & i was also inspired by the march c*mic where reese goes dancing. they are both 18 or 19 in this.

Marta looks in the mirror and admires herself for a little while, smiling genuinely with slightly red cheeks as she thinks of how pretty she looks. And truly it is a surprising sight for anyone who believes she’s unfeeling and unexpressive and not as empathetic and as cartoony in expression as she really is with those she loves and admires. Reese has taken her shopping in order to help her choose a dress for a night of dancing. It’s a bit strange in Marta’s mind to go out to do something so … normal… when there’s so much going on right now, but Reese insists that she needs a night out of fun because she’s young and she hasn’t lived enough for someone her age. Most of Marta’s life has been spent locked up.

Manipulated.

Lied to. Tricked, after all. And the people who did those things to her did not want her to enjoy fun in life. Reese even tells her that now that she’s out on her own – kinda – that she deserves time to go against what she was taught by those people.

Though Marta wants to tell Reese that she is potentially dangerous to others, despite everyone else's belief in her, Marta doesn’t tell Reese this. It feels a little too blunt to say out loud, even when she is a little too blunt with both Reese and Soldier at times. For once, she wants to try and be a normal person. For once she wants to attempt to figure out who she is away from ….who she was made to be and who…well, now, who she’s being guided to be. “When you said I should pick an outfit I liked, I was going to pick a dress, but I’m not really one for dresses….” Marta tells the vampire when Reese enters the room. “This…this is….I think…I’m sure such….is a very me outfit…and I like it very much.” The outfit is a skirt and a nice purple blouse that goes great with the leather jacket she tends to wear. It also goes great with the outfit that Reese chose for their night out. So they coordinate and Marta likes that a lot. It's fun for her. Reese nods and smiles, fangs showing. “Then, damn. If it’s you, you have taste and look great, Marty. Never let the others dress you in the shit they pick again. It always looks very out of place, when this works great for you.” She gestures to the outfit Marta wears. Marta tilts her head, and winces. Only hearing the part about her looking out of place. “I looked out of place?” Before Marta could continue Reese sighs. “Not really. Just like you were unhappy with what you were wearing." Reese waves her hand down, before walking over to Marta. “But whatever, the past is the past, you look great in that fit. Doesn't it feel great to find something that makes you feel …like yourself? You know, something that's you? You know, not anything someone wants you to be, but you?” Marta nods slowly and smiles softly, admiring herself as Reese admires her. "It's badass," Marta expresses, grinning now. "I'm badass!" "Very badass," Reese agrees. "You are, too, Reese!" "That I know. I've always been a badass." "We're both badass." Reese nods, and gently bumps Marta with her side, which causes Marta to freeze, and with anyone else, they may have been flipped over on their backs with a fighting move. But since it's Reese, she simply smiles. "Thank you for this, Reese," Marta expresses.

Though most would probably be worried about being attracted to someone who’s a vampire, Marta’s not. She's been told her own blood smells awful, for one. And secondly, she's just like, not scared of Reese or most others. So, really, if a cute girl around her age is going to help her figure out who she is, she may as well let her, right – vampire or not?
