Ostatnio, może to się zaczęło w tym miesiącu, moja stara codziennie gdzieś wychodzi w sensie pochodzić po mieście (nie, na 109% nie umawia się z nikim xf) I jej noe ma i ona mówi że ją nosi
Wydaje mi się że moja obecność w tym domu ją dusi i od tego ucieka :/ nwm może przesadzam, może po prsotu jej się nudzi
Niestety jak większość boomerskich kobiet ona nie ma hobby (no oprócz ogldania tureckich seriali)

FLIGHTLINE: 157 - BELL D-188/XF-109/XF3L-1
The result of a joint USAF/USN request for a supersonic V/STOL fighter-bomber, the D-188A was canceled before progressing beyond a single mockup.
The genesis of the plane, known internally as Bell Model 2000, was in a 1955 joint request by the Air Force and Navy for a new V/STOL aircraft capable of Mach 2, which would act as a fighter-bomber for the USAF and a fleet defense interceptor for the Navy. The design was highly ambitious and unconventional, with a long fuselage mated to high, short wings that terminated in rotating nacelles holding two engines each. The aircraft would have six or eight J85 engines total depending on the model, four on the wings, two in the tail, and two more optionally in the forward fuselage for vertical thrust. The Navy model would also incorporate a bleed air system to enhance vertical lift and maneuvering.

Armaments would have consisted of two or four 20mm cannons as well as an internal weapons bay and provisions for hardpoints on the wings for missiles, rockets or bombs, up to 4,000lbs total. Unrefueled combat range would have been 1,350 miles, with a ferry range of 2,300 miles.

The mockup was completed in December 1960, and was displayed in both USAF and Navy markings. By this point however, interest in the program had cooled, with first the Navy then the USAF dropping out by 1961. It's unlikely that the plane would have met the somewhat (okay, very) unrealistic performance goals as stated, so an operational D-188/A would likely have been slower, had less range, and/or carried less of a payload.

Part 51: hearing
Parts 1-50
Senator Jhendo Kkli took the stage among the Aristarchi Senate, an honor bestowed upon only the greatest of their race.
His hue showed his apprehension, which was to be expected, and was not judged on by the rest of those present.
He tapped one of his hands nervously upon a podium before him. This is not good news. They should have been informed long before.
He shook himself, ridding him of his nerves, and held a hand up, purposely changing hue on it to white, silencing the crowd before him.
Here we go.
“My fellow Senators. I come bearing concerning news. Earlier this cycle, I was informed by the Drem that a certain Engineer Hgdre had taken residence on Sol.”
Colors of confusion flew through the crowd. Then, realization. Hgdre. The one who brought that... thing. Hatred.
He shot his hand back up, white as snow, and a hush fell back over them.
“Yes. I understand. He is singlehandedly responsible for hundreds of deaths thanks to his little... experiment. But, we need to put that aside for now. He would not have reached out to us if it was not of importance.”
He turned, grabbing a remote. He pressed a button as he did so, activating a screen which displayed a rather large solar system. 8 planets around a G2V main-sequence star. A miracle really.
He pressed another button, and the display began zooming in.
“The planet he chose is called Earth, which means, well dirt. A very strange happening, as the surface is mostly covered in water.”
The screen stopped zooming, focused on a blue and white marble. Cyclones dotted it, signs of civilization-altering storms. Fear creapt through the senator as he spoke, finally realizing the true implications of a species such as this.
His voice cracked, well the Aristarchi equivalent of it.
“The planet is... a class 10. An absolute deathworld for our species.”
He paused, not turning around. Silence.
“Th- the dominant species is only a class-4.”
A sigh of relief went through the crowd. A species that’s only class-4, dominating the planet.
Kkli turned.
“I do not know why you’re relieved.”
He pressed another button. He kept pressing with each point, bringing up slide after slide.
“They are a class-4 species that has completely dominated a class-10 deathworld. The planet has storms that would flatten our cities, and theirs stand strong. They have pushed back predators of class-7 and higher to their unpopulated regions, and keep class-5 predators as pets. Their culture is far more complex than any seen. They war among themselves.”
Silence. A fearful silence.
“And Engineer Hgdre chose not only to live among them in hiding, knowing the consequences of reaching out, and did so anyway.”
He pressed a final button, displaying the message.
“Attn. Senator Kkli. Humanity has achieved FTL. Without proper assistance. Assimilation Plan 109-XF was the only applicable means. Failure. The Az’krahni have attacked their home planet. Do not interfere with their war on Az’krah. Do not attack Earth. Cooperation with the species is the only way you will survive. Do not reply.”
Silence.
Kkli turned, and asked a single question.
“My fellow senators, I have but one question. What do we do?”
Fearful, confused silence.
Then, they felt it. A vibration.
Boom.
Boom.
Boom.
Dust fell from the ceiling with each boom.
Oh. Xe is coming. I better sit down.
The senator scurried off the stage, running to hide among the crowd, each of whom slowly creeping to the rear of the amphitheater.
Doors that had not been opened in centuries flew open with a final boom, extinguishing every light.
Then. The dreadful sound. Thousands and thousands of feet, tapping along the stage. Then the walls, ceiling, wrapping around and around the room, forcing every individual to the center out of fear.
“Tsk tsk tsk”
The sound seemed to have come from nowhere, terrifying all.
“I am disappointed senators. Very disappointed.” The voice boomed. “Tell me, why am I here?”
Senator Kkli was pushed out of the group. He was the last to speak, he’s the one who called this session, he gets to answer the Arist.
“Uh- uh- uh Xir...” he whimpered, “is it about Hgdre? Or humanity?”
The voice boomed. “Both you imbeciles. They should never have been let off their home planet. It should have been demolished centuries ago. They’ve made it to the Luyten system.”
Confusion arose.
The slithering began again. Frustration arose from the being. “It was under a Quarantine Protocol, and the creature under quarantine was able to halt it.”
The senators paused. And ran.
“STOP”
Frozen.
“Call the entire empire. Anything that can fight will fight. We will destroy them. We will destroy the Az’krah. AND IF YOU FAIL YOU WILL BE EATEN”

Regency Auction 38 Brings Strong Results Despite Relocation
Legend Rare Coins’ Regency Auction 38, set to take place at Harrah’s in New Orleans as part of the PCGS Members Only Show, was forced to become a webcast event held at Legend’s central New Jersey offices due to the ongoing coronavirus global pandemic of 2020.
Despite this change, results in prices were strong, showing continued resilience in the coin market. From the start of the sale, which began with the Blue Hill Collection of New Orleans Silver Dollars and Double Eagles, activity was strong. Even before the sale opened for live bidding on the evening of Thursday, May 14, there was a record number of registrants for a sale of this size, (it was a smaller sale featuring just over 300 lots).
The New Orleans silver dollars had such strength that it seems the dollar market might be recovering from the downturn in prices over the last six months, only time will tell. From the first lot, bidding was quite active. Though the 54-O and 56-O did not make their reserves, the other coins saw active bidding, including the 79-O in particular, which brought a very strong bid from a very happy collector and realized $82,250. Walking Liberty half dollars have again proven to be one of the strongest series right now, with high-grade examples and esoteric varieties seeing a large number of bidders vying to add coins to their sets. The top price realized for the sale, a 1909-O half eagle, graded PCGS MS-63 CA,C realized $114,563. (All prices reported include the 17.5 percent buyers premium.)
“Interest in this sale started strong and remained that way throughout the close of the sale, as registrations and activity were high throughout the entire presale bidding and live bidding process,” said Matthew Bell, CEO of Legend Auctions. “We actually noticed a marked increase in people planning to follow the sale live, as we fielded seemingly non-stop phone calls… from customers eagerly anticipating the live auction Thursday night.”
“The sale started off extremely strong,” echoed Laura Sperber, Founder of LRCA. “The Blue Hill silver dollars were already realizing strong prices after pre-bidding, and many saw those prices increase further during the live auction. We could not be happier with those results and hope that they foreshadow renewed strength in the dollar market overall. Congratulations to the Blue Hill collector and all the new owners on an amazing night!”

Clasificación de Aviones de Caza y Ataque (II)
Segunda Guerra Mundial
Después de algunas guerras con modernos aviones se sabía que el control del aire era básico para ganar la guerra. En ésta el papel de los cazas tenía un papel muy importante para alcanzar la superioridad aérea en la lucha con otros cazas enemigos, además de la intercepción y escolta de bombarderos así como misiones de apoyo y ataque a tierra, además de reconocimiento.
El diseño de los cazas varió según el criterio de los países contendientes. Los japoneses e italianos buscaban favorecer diseños ligeros y maniobrables, mientras que los norteamericanos optaron por aviones más potentes y veloces y con mayor poder de fuego. Así pues, los más ligeros sobresalían en el combate avión-contra-avión pero los hacía inservibles como interceptores o aviones de ataque al suelo.
En la Segunda Guerra Mundial es hasta la fecha donde mayores combates se han librado a gran escala entre aviones y es un periodo en que los aviones de caza han evolucionado mucho.
Los motores que antes de la guerra desarrollaban entre 1000 y 1400 caballos de potencia al final de la contienda sobrepasaban los 2000 caballos. No incrementaron mucho la velocidad máxima por problemas de compresión pero se acercaban a la barrera del sonido. Se vieron que las tesis norteamericanas de cómo debía ser un aeronave de caza y ataque fueron las exitosas; veloces y bien armados.
Al final de la guerra en 1944 aparecieron los primeros cazas con motor a reacción por parte de Alemania e Inglaterra, así como aviones alemanes armados con cohetes.
En la Segunda Guerra Mundial tambien se populariza el uso del radar, primero en estaciones en tierra para detectar ataques y luego montado en aviones especialmente alemanes.
Al comienzo de la Segunda Guerra Mundial los aviones más representativos eran los ya vistos en la Guerra Civil Española y en la Guerra de Japón contra Rusia y China, además de otros modelos y mejoras.
Por parte alemana destacan el Messerschmitt Bf 109 y el Focke Wulf verdaderas estrellas del comienzo de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, que compitieron en la Batalla de Inglaterra con los Hawker Hurricane y Supermarine Spitfire británicos. Justamente en la Batalla de Inglaterra fue donde se mostró la utilidad de las redes de radares, y así los interceptores de la Real Fuerza Aérea podían salir al paso de las aeronaves alemanas, es el conocido como sistema Dowding.
Los Alemanes por su parte en Julio de 1940 montaron la línea nocturna Kammhuber, que consistía en dividir el terreno en sectores dónde había emplazados radares y reflectores así como cazas nocturnos asociados a cada sector, de tal forma que los cazas de cada sector pudieran tener visión directa de los intrusos. Debido a las tácticas inglesas de volar como una corriente única que sobrecargasen los sectores. La línea Kammhuber evolucionó a una red de radares y los cazas nocturnos equiparon sus propios radares, lo que les permitía cazar por su cuenta.
En 1942 los alemanes empezaron a usar radares de banda baja de UHF conocido como radar Liechtentein. Los ingleses capturaron un Ju 88 R-1 equipado con él y empezaron a fabricar equipos de radio para contrarrestarles, se inicio así una guerra tecnológica para hacer efectivos y contrarrestrar radares tipo Liechtentein que llevaban principalmente los Junker Ju 88, una de las primeras batallas en forma de carrera tecnológica.
Los alemanes también usaron el Focke-Wulf Fw 190 como caza nocturno equipándolos con bengalas que dajaban caer sobre los bombarderos. En los Messerschmitt bf 109 también se montaron equipos contrarradar Naxos Messerschmitt bf110.
La Luftwaffe también contó con el éxito de montar autocañones conocidos como Schorage Musik, en los grandes cazas nocturnos bimotores.
Por parte rusa hay dos partes muy diferenciadas; el comienzo de la guerra donde usan aviones ya vistos en la Guerra Civil Española como los Polikarpov I-15 e I-16 y otros modelos más modernos como los Mig-3, La 66.3 y Yakolev yak-1, pero aún así inferiores a los Messerschmitt Bf-109. Estos aviones fueron prácticamente aniquilados por los alemanes en las primeras fases de la Invasión de Rusia.
En las últimas fases de la guerra los soviéticos presentaron el Yakolev Yak-3 y Lavochkin La-7 que tenían prestaciones similares a los cazas alemanes. También se incorporaron un buen número de cazas británicos y norteamericanos como parte del plan de Lend-Lease, con los Bell P-29 Aircobra británicos y otros cazas norteamericanos.
En la flota de cazas británica destacan sobre todo los Supermarine Spitfire y los Hawker Hurricane, también presentes en la escolta de bombarderos en los “Bombardeos Tácticos” sobre ciudades alemanas. Los ingleses también desarrollaron cazas nocturnos, equipados con radar, sistemas para aterrizaje nocturno y otros sistemas de ayuda como Radar Doppler Meteorológico. Ejemplos de estos aviones son el De Havilland Mosquito y el Bristol Beaufighter.
Los francia contaban con los Morane-Saulnier MS 406 desarrollado en 1938 en un número de unos 1000. Tenía poca potencia, débilmente armado, tuvo muchas pérdidas en la fase inicial de la Guerra, también fueron el objetivo de raids y se destruyeron muchos en el suelo para que no cayeran en manos enemigas.
Japón, en las fases iniciales de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, obtuvo la superioridad aérea gracias a los Mitsubishi A6M Zero y los Nakajima Ki-27 y Ki-43 y la pericia de sus pilotos, adquirida en la campaña de China. Éstos cazas japoneses tenían un rango de acción, maniobrabilidad, velocidad y capacidad de subida mayor que la de sus enemigos. Esta superioridad aérea fue clave en los éxitos de Filipinas, Malasia, Singapur, las Indias Holandesas y Birmania.
Poco a poco los norteamericanos fueron recuperando la superioridad aérea, dejando obsoleto al venerable Mitsubishi A6M Zero y Japón comenzó a producir en masa nuevos cazas como el Nakajima Ki-84 y el Kawasaki N1K. El avance de la guerra y su desarrollo desfavorable a Japón en la que sus cazas no pudieron impedir el bombardeo de sus ciudades, hicieron que se cayera en la estrategia kamikaze en la que se emplearon los Yokosuda D4Y3, el Mitsubishi A6M Zero y otros bombarderos ligeros.
Los norteamericanos comenzaron la Segunda Guerra Mundial en el Pacífico con malas noticias respecto a la superioridad aérea y tuvieron que reagrupar sus aviones de caza. Contaban con los Brewster Buffalo y Bell P-39 Aircobra que eran superados por los aviones japoneses. Mientras que los Curtiss P-40 Warhawk del Ejército el Grumman F4F Wildcat de la Marina poseían más potencia de fuego, robustez y velocidad en picado y de dichas características los aliados pronto sacarían provecho.
Les siguieron ganando el pulso a los japoneses con la aparición de cazas como el Grumman F6F Hellcat y el Lockheed P-38 Lighting y después los Vough F4U Corsair, Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, y sobre todo North American P-51 Mustang que empezaron a llegar en gran número. Todos estos cazas eran superiores en todo a los japoneses excepto en maniobrabilidad, pero pusieron sobre la mesa los otros problemas de los cazas nipones, como la debilidad de su blindaje y poca fortaleza de fuego.
Periodo Posterior a la Segunda Guerra Mundial
Varios programas de prototipos que empezaron a partir de 1945 continuaron después del final de la guerra, algunos entraron en producción solo hasta el final de la Guerra y alguno se mantuvo.
De esta época son los cazas con motor de pistón más avanzados como los Lavochkin La-9 y otros prototipos.
En estos momentos comienzan a desarrollarse modelos con motores de pistos y tipo Jet. Los Lavochkin LA-9R0 con un motor auxiliar de tipo Pulsejet, así como el Ryan FR Fireball que contaba con un motor auxiliar de tipo Ramjet. Así se da paso a la era de los cazas propulsados por cohetes.
Cazas Propulsados por Cohetes
El único caza puramente de propulsión por cohete que entró en servicio fue el Messerschmitt Me 163B Komet en 1944. Otras variantes como el Messerschmitt Me 262 tenían motores híbridos jet-cohete pero no fueron producidos en masa.
En la década de 1950, los británicos desarrollaron diseños de aviones de motor mixto; empleando cohetes y motores jet para cubrir la brecha de rendimiento respecto a turborreactores, teniendo como motor principal al cohete para dar velocidad y altura y el motor jet para ahorrar combustible. El Saunders Roc SR53. Los avances en motores jet pronto dejaron obsoletos este tipo de diseños. Algo similar ocurrió con el caza norteamericano American Republic XF-91, capaz de alcanzar match 1. Ningún caza híbrido cohete-propulsión fue puesto en servicio.

Carro Sedan: todas as opções do mercado
Muitos procuram na internet por um carro sedan, ficando na dúvida de quantos existem hoje no nosso país.
O mercado brasileiro tem atualmente 51 opções de carro sedan que podemos considerar dentro do segmento, mesmo que alguns tenham estilo bem próximo de um cupê, por exemplo.
Neste artigo, você vai conhecer estes modelos de carro sedan ofertados por aqui.
Em um passado recente, o mercado de sedãs no Brasil tinha uma variedade maior de produtos, mas atualmente menos de 51 podem ser encontrados no país.
O motivo da queda é a ascensão dos crossovers e SUVs, que tem colocado o segmento para baixo nos últimos anos.
Recentemente, o Brasil viu algumas baixas nesta categoria e deverá assistir mais nos próximos meses e anos. Só a Ford, por exemplo, deverá perder Focus Fastback e Fusion, isso porque já tirou de cena o New Fiesta Sedan no ano passado. Em compensação, se uns saem, outros entram.
O Volvo S60 de nova geração, por exemplo, chega no segundo semestre.
A Peugeot foi outra que tirou seu sedã médio, o 408.
Para piorar, podemos esperar apenas pelo Mercedes-Benz Classe A Sedan como um produto novo no segmento, já que os demais são apenas novas gerações dos modelos existentes, como no caso do sedã sueco, citado acima. O Chery Arrizo GX foi prometido, mas devido a essa situação de mercado, pode nem vir mais…
Em 2018, de acordo com a Fenabrave, o Brasil consumiu 539.795 sedãs em todas as categorias, desde o mais barato até os luxuosos.
No geral, o mercado absorveu 2.470.654 automóveis e comerciais leves. Isso significa 21,85% de participação no mercado geral. Foram 478.360 em 2017, alta de 12,84%.

Audi
A Audi é uma marca de luxo alemã que sempre teve foco nos sedãs. No mercado brasileiro, o A3 Sedan é o único nacional e espera por uma atualização de geração, partindo de R$ 125.990.
Já o atual A4 tem preços a partir de R$ 173.990 e aposta na força do motor 2.0 TFSI de 190 ou 252 cavalos.
O Audi A6 é o intermediário luxuoso que sempre mantém presença por aqui, começando em R$ 306.990, mas com motor 2.0 TFSI, embora ofereça versões V6 3.0 TFSI de 333 cavalos. O A8 deixou de ser vendido no Brasil.

Chery
Derivado do projeto mais antigos da Chery, o Arrizo 5 é um carro sedan de porte médio que é vendido com preço de compacto.
Mesmo assim, o modelo tem motor 1.5 Turbo de até 150 cavalos, além de câmbio CVT e pacote de equipamentos generoso.

A General Motors sempre teve boa oferta de sedãs no Brasil e atualmente conta com três modelos, sendo o Prisma o mais em conta na versão Joy e com opções atualizadas.
O longevo motor SPE/4 1.0 ou 1.4 é de projeto antigo, mas isso não impede que o modelo seja o mais vendido do mercado.
Além deste, o Cobalt aparece como um compacto grandalhão com bom espaço interno e porta-malas generoso, tendo basicamente motor 1.8 de até 111 cavalos (também de projeto dos anos 80) e câmbio automático, este também presente no Prisma.
Por fim, o Cruze aposta na força do 1.4 Ecotec Turbo de até 153 cavalos.

Citroën

Ainda assim, tem no motor 1.6 THP de até 173 cavalos, seu principal argumento de venda, associado com câmbio automático de seis marchas.

A marca italiana desistiu do segmento médio e agora foca apenas nos compactos Grand Siena e Cronos, apesar de que o primeiro deva sair de cena ainda este ano ou mais tardar em 2020.
Nunca recebeu atualização e deve dar lugar ao mais recente, que tem motores 1.3 Firefly de até 109 cavalos e E.torQ Evo com até 139 cavalos. O irmão mais velho mantém o antigo Fire Evo 1.0 e 1.4.

Ford
A Ford está em uma situação complicada, que a levará à redução de portfólio com a manutenção de apenas um único modelo nesse segmento de carro sedan, o Ka Sedan, que tem motores 1.0 de até 85 cavalos e 1.5 com até 136 cavalos.
Isso porque o Focus Fastback, que tem motor 2.0 Duratec Direct de até 178 cavalos, sairá de cena. O Fusion tem motores 2.0 EcoBoost de 248 cavalos e híbrido 2.0 com até 188 cavalos. Este não deve passar muito de 2020.

Além dele, há o confortável Accord 2.0 VTC Turbo com 256 cavalos e câmbio automático de 10 marchas!

No caso do segundo, o sedã médio é importado ainda da Coreia do Sul e tem motor 2.0 Flex de até 167 cavalos.

Hey everyone, So there's a few features that I really find appealing for my forum in 2.1. We've been running XF 1.x for over a year now, and about a week ago just upgraded to XenForo 2.0. Obviously this was a HUGE change - even just the addons (we had about 109 active XF 1.x addons enabled pre-upgrade) - and I'm currently in the process of upgrading addons and creating a new theme for our forum for XF 2.0. I've browsed various XF 2.1-related threads and have done a bunch of research on... Upgrading from XenForo 2.0 to 2.1 - Potential Issues...

Bright Lights, Big City: Award-Winning Immersive Design
EARLY BIRD DEADLINE: AUGUST 13, 2018
100 million pixels of visual storytelling transformed a Dubai retail destination into a jaw-dropping immersive experience.
It’s a pretty big deal for a client to ask you to create a massive digital experience within a one-of-a-kind luxury retail environment. And it’s a really big deal when that retail environment is located in the heart of Dubai, a city known for its rare ability to continually expand, innovate—and define what a city of the future really looks like. That was the task CityWalk Dubai posed to Montreal-based Float4, a multidisciplinary studio that integrates digital experiences in physical spaces to amplify their identity.
Float4 readily accepted that challenge and exceeded expectations—including those of HOW’s International Design Awards judges, who awarded the project Best of Show. “CityWalk is an impressive combination of scale and craftsmanship,” says judge Leland Maschmeyer. “It’s rare for a work of art to reshape how you experience a physical space.” But that’s exactly what Float4’s contribution to CityWalk did.
BUILDING AN EXPERIENCE
Float4 strives to redefine conventions by designing and producing site-specific multimedia installations. “Our firm stands out in that we craft experiences that often have never been done before, and that’s thanks to the trusted relationships we develop with our clients,” says Alexandre Simionescu, Float4’s principal. “This aspect of novelty is also one of the elements that characterizes our corporate culture. Finding a way to do things that are challenging is something that sets our firm apart.”
CityWalk is an outdoor urban destination providing innovative retail and upscale dining for visitors and locals alike. It breaks the paradigm of standard retail environments and provides an outdoor meeting point, accessible to all. It’s also special because it provides access to a pedestrian retail experience that’s so common in many cities across the world, but that is quite rare in Dubai.
Float4’s objective for CityWalk was to create a multimedia infrastructure showcasing visually striking content in a luxury retail setting. The space encompasses an outdoor digital experience of more than 12 football fields in size, and includes more than 30 LED installations, nearly 30 projectors, and a water fountain show where content is projected onto water screens. All totaled, there are more than 100 million pixels of engaging, entertaining content that runs seamlessly on a digital structure that’s entirely custom-built.
CityWalk is comprised of three main areas—the Gateway, the Showstreet and the Place des Lumières—each set to elevate the customer’s experience throughout their journey.
As guests enter through the Gateway, CityWalk’s main entrance, they are immersed in an alley featuring two giant LED screens 93 yards in length, as well as a structure made up of LED hexagonal displays serving as a digital canopy. The large-scale screens display hypnotizing moving videos that morph content such as colorful galaxies and short stories into surrealistic, playful worlds that add an element of surprise.
The Showstreet, which connects the Gateway to the Place des Lumières, stretches nearly 109 yards and includes a ground projection provided by 12 high-definition projectors. This entertainment street is the focal point of the lighting scheme where floodlights are mounted at high level to provide playful, general ambient lighting to the floor, while integrated facade lighting ensures that vertical surfaces are well illuminated as part of a cohesive composition. The high-level projection on the floor allows for a flexible and creative layer of additional media for visitors, crafting an immersive showtime experience that interplays with the surrounding media screens and ceiling. This section can also easily be transformed into an interactive experience that reacts to guests’ movements.
The customer’s journey culminates in a circular space at the end of the Showstreet, also the highlight of the experience, which is the Place des Lumières. The space brings together more than 20 projectors and more than 100 lighting features into this 360-degree experience that gives the audience a multitude of viewpoints, making every occurrence unique. For five minutes every hour after dark, the Place des Lumières transforms into a show. At its center, an artificial pond comes to life when four computer-controlled hydraulic arms emerge from the water in sync with a custom built audio experience. Each arm, equipped with a system of nozzles, creates curtains of water on which projections are shown. When the show begins, people come from everywhere—every area, every alley—to gather around the fountain to enjoy the experience.
FINDING A WAY
So what does it take for a team of 20 to pull off such a massive high-tech project? “We had expertise in the field, which allows us to effectively tackle all the challenges that are inevitable with a project of this scale, and we also brought the right partners on board to deliver,” Simionescu says. “Our background in the video game industry, expertise in visual effects and hub of in-house creatives—in other words, our multidisciplinary talent—is what enabled us to push this project further. And collaboration is key to developing this type of project.”
About 50 people were involved in the year-and-a-half-long project. As executive producers, Float4 handled program strategy, content creation and technology infrastructure design. (The company has invested heavily in the development of its proprietary RealMotion platform, which has become the engine powering many of its projects for nearly a decade.) Float4 partnered with XYZ Cultural Technology to deliver the technological solution, and FLY and Gridspace to support the content. Other collaborators included Dubai-based RDK and Montreal-based LUZ Studio, Pixcom, La Majeure, Christie Digital and Freeworm Productions for everything from lighting design to soundtrack production.
While there’s no other single Float4 project that combines every element that can be found in City-Walk, the firm definitely drew upon a myriad of different aspects that they’ve done in the past. “Overall, it’s a very unique project that is hard to compare to anything else,” Simionescu says.
“We were tangential to the physical design of the space with this digital experience,” he continues. “The canvas and the audience were two of the main elements we looked at to draw inspiration from. Being sensitive to the culture was also a very important element, which did not constrain our creativity, but simply brought a different perspective.”
For instance, take the two content pieces showcased on the large screens during the Place des Lumières water show: “Future Now” is very much influenced by the vision of Dubai and its continuous evolution towards defining what a city of the future looks like. “Voyage into sound” echoes the importance of music in the local culture and how it has been used to tell stories over centuries as it transcends time.

One of the biggest challenges from a content creation and production standpoint was the sheer size of the space and the multitude of platforms (LED, projection mapping, xf projection, custom LED ceiling, lighting, etc.). “With more than 100 million pixels across 30 different media supports, our production pipeline had to be streamlined beyond anything we had encountered until now,” Simionescu says. “The creative process was also a challenge by the sheer size of the space and the multitude of viewing points. It becomes very hard to convey an idea effectively when there are so many unique elements in play. Without the proper tools, it becomes a cognitive overload and you simply can’t process the information effectively in order to make good decisions. From a technical perspective, the amount of pixels that had to be processed required a performance criteria that is often delivered at the expense of flexibility, which in our case was not an option.”
It’s clear, however, that those obstacles did not stand in the way of stellar creative and technical execution. While Float4 can’t disclose exact numbers, they say the advertising revenue alone has provided a significant return on investment. “As the largest digital integration in the Middle East and quite possibly the world, CityWalk will become an attraction even by Dubai’s standards,” Simionescu says. “From the moment we launched the show, the place has been full every night. People go there, they walk there, and it’s now a destination in and of itself.”
Simionescu describes seeing the final version of the experience for the first time as “euphoria.” The public reaction was extremely positive, and people kept approaching the interactive design team to ask when the show would play again. “Seeing people taking pictures of it is always a great sign, and asking when they could see it again was an even better one to indicate how well received it is,” he says.
Simionescu adds that his favorite thing about the project is that there’s simply nothing else like it, even in a city like Dubai that has no shortage of eccentric projects. “The sum of all our efforts and our greatest achievement is to have contributed to a project that defines Dubai,” he says. “CityWalk presented a huge opportunity for us to work directly with the client in a place that is renown for its grandiose achievements.”
