Last night I got high and wrote a program to find all of the unused elemental symbols. It turns out there’s 585 of them and it’s much less interesting the next day.

One interesting finding: I couldn’t be bothered to generate all possible one and two letter strings, so I asked ChatGPT to write me code that would do all that for me. It worked surprisingly well!

My two cents as a Chinese speaker and also someone who was introduced to WayV/NCT literally through his c-variety participation: I’ll be sincerely shocked if L* is reinstated in general, and in WayV especially. Reports of mainland support of him I’ve personally seen (which admittedly might be limited!) are either misinfo or vague extrapolated generalizations made by international fans, or relatively fringe opinions that would easily be overpowered by group fans, fans of other members (especially given how his situation led to schedule cancellations), and scandal-averse passerbys. When responding to new people’s Qs about the group, Cfans are already having to disclaim a bunch of items that would otherwise make the group a tough pill to swallow for potential new fans (like yes they’re from an infamously sinophobic Korean company, but they have a tax-paying Chinese subsidiary with Chinese staff!! and yes they’re v much idols, but they have the foundation to transcend the iffy stereotypes associated with that—wow, look, XJ and WW have academic credentials from well-recognized domestic universities!). Unless they want to abandon that market entirely, I think keeping him might be one asterisk too many; it would result in a net negative by driving people away and then not really giving any newcomer sufficient reason to join in /now,/ of all times.

i always appreciate first hand insight and additional opinions so thank you! it’s really a lose-lose situation isn’t it :/
