Jaguar has launched its latest full-size super sedan, the new 2018 XJR575, with a high-speed interview starring Jaguar designer Wayne Burgess being questioned by TV presenter and race driver Amanda Stretton as the performance sedan accelerates to its top speed of 186mph.

Lasting just 44 seconds – the time it takes the fastest iteration of the XJ sedan to reach its top speed – Burgess gave a quick-fire insight into the development of the potent new model.

The high velocity interview was almost over before it began, but the unrelenting acceleration of the new XJ flagship did not stop Burgess, Production Studio Director and SVO Projects Director at Jaguar, from providing a unique take on the performance sedan.

“I have done plenty of short interviews in my time, but nothing quite like this,” said Burgess. “It might have been a bit of fun, but doesn’t it just demonstrate perfectly the extreme performance of the new XJR575? I could barely finish answering those quick-fire questions before we hit 186mph and then it was all over! Can we go again?”

The XJR575 is the new performance flagship for the XJ range; its 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine benefits from a healthy 25 horsepower increase – from 550HP to 575HP – which delivers a 0-60mph time of just 4.2 seconds1. Coupled with 517 lb. ft. of available torque, the new addition to the XJ range effortlessly accelerates from a standstill while drivers benefit from Jaguar’s characteristic interior refinement.

Customers will be able to choose between two bespoke exterior color finishes created by Special Vehicle Operations – Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Grey – while additional tailor-made exterior details include a rear spoiler, side sills, front bumper and lower air intakes featuring gloss black surrounds.

Updated exterior badging and twin hood louvers distinguish the vehicle from the rest of the range, as do the red brake callipers that accompany the 20-inch 5 Split-Spoke 'Style 5044' gloss-black wheels. Bespoke embossed tread plates alongside intaglio and diamond-quilted seating add a final flourish to the interior of the XJR575.

“This is a performance vehicle, but that doesn’t mean we have had to cut any corners when it comes to comfort or design,” said Jaguar Design Director, Ian Callum. “Jaguar is the standard bearer for interior refinement and the XJR575 is no different. It can go very quickly, but it does so with the serene comfort customers expect from a Jaguar sedan. That makes this a very special car indeed.”

Further announcements for the rest of the core 2018 Jaguar XJ range and U.S. pricing will follow later this year.

Aproveitando a renovação da gama XJ, que recebe a introdução de diversas melhorias tecnológicas, a Jaguar aproveitou para lançar uma versão ainda mais radical da sua versão de topo de alto desempenho, o XJR575. Mas, antes de revelarmos este modelo, destaque para as novidades introduzidas na gama XJ da Jaguar, como a conectividade Wi-Fi (até 8 dispositivos) através de uma ligação 4G LTE, incorporação de um novo ecrã táctil de 10 polegadas na consola central e um novo painel de instrumentos digital de 12,3 polegadas.

Em termos de sistemas de segurança inteligente e assistência à condução, o renovado XJ recebe um sistema de detecção dianteira de veículos, assistência à manutenção da faixa, monitor da condição do condutor, sistema de travagem autónoma de emergência com detecção de peões,, controlo de velocidade de cruzeiro adaptativo com assistência em fila, detector de veículos em marcha atrás, monitor de ângulo morto e sistema de câmaras surround de 360 graus, bem como funções de estacionamento semiautomático, tanto perpendicular como paralelo.

Relativamente ao modelo topo de gama, este possui um visual renovado e distinto, como os dois acabamentos exteriores de cor concebidos pela divisão SVO (Special Vehicle Operations), o Velocity Blue e Satin Corris Grey, sendo este complementado pela inclusão de um spoiler traseiro, embaladeiras, para-choques desportivos, grelhas duplas no capot, jantes Farallon de 20 polegadas em preto brilhante, pinças de travão vermelhas de alto desempenho e, no interior, painéis cinzelados personalizados e bancos desportivos com acolchoado de losangos e logótipo XJR575.

Além do visual distinto, este modelo distingue-se pelo uso de uma versão melhorada do conhecido 5.0 V8 Supercharged da Jaguar Land Rover, que vê a sua potência subir para os 575 cavalos, oferecendo ao mesmo tempo um binário de 700 Nm. Em termos de desempenho, basta indicar que atinge os 100 km/g em apenas 4,4 segundos, e os 300 km/h em 44 segundos. Chega-lhe? Em termos de preços, a nova gama Jaguar XJ, que chegará ao mercado no Outono, terá um preço a partir dos 106.555 euros para a versão 3.0 V6 diesel de 300 cavalos, até uns impressionantes 196.961 euros para o XJR575.

Although we love the current Jaguar XF's sharp looks and excellent handling, its underwhelming infotainment system and interior quality leave us wanting. Luckily, Jag's midsize sedan gets a major overhaul for 2021 that should help give the aging cat another life. Sadly, the XF Sportbrake is not mentioned in the 2021 update, which leads us to believe it's likely gone for good in the United States. A moment of silence, please.

This includes new blade-like LED running lights LED daytime running, grille, front and rear bumpers, and taillights. Keen eyes will note the sedan's reworked fender vents and C-pillar, which is rounded off for a more elegant look. Jaguar notes the XF's new nose makes the car look bolder. We, however, prefer the term "elegant."

Instead, buyers can choose between a 246-hp or 296-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Both mate to an eight-speed automatic. Whereas the lower power four-pot offers rear- or all-wheel-drive, the optional unit pairs exclusively with all-wheel drive. Depending on the output, four-cylinder XFs sprint from a standstill to 60 mph in either 6.5 seconds or 5.8 seconds, per Jaguar.

We asked a brand representative why the 2021 F-Pace's new "mild-hybrid" inline-six with 395 hp isn't available in the XF and were essentially told customer demand for the V-6 XF didn't warrant its inclusion on the 2021 model.

2021 Jaguar XF: Interior Upgrades Hop inside the 2021 XF and you'll note a new infotainment system that includes the brand's latest software, dubbed Pivi Pro, and an 11.4-inch touchscreen that seemingly floats above the dashboard. The slightly curved screen is housed in a magnesium frame and is divided into three main sections when activated: media, navigation, and external devices. The setup promises snappier performance and the ability to receive over-the-air updates.

To combat road-noise, Jaguar adds active noise cancellation to all XF models. There's also a standard surround-view camera that should make parking this luxury sedan a breeze.

The rest of the interior has been luxed-up, too. Inside you'll find materials such as open-poor wood trim, a new front seat design, a redesigned center console, and air vents finished in brushed metal. There's also a new steering wheel design.

All in all, the XF appears to be a more elegant and well-rounded package for 2021. There's still no word on pricing, but the current XF starts at $52,250. We assume Jaguar will bump the price of the 2021 model by at least a couple hundred dollars.
