DOFP is so fix-it coded like- "Oh scrap The last stand Charles didn't die and now he, Erik, and the x men are trapped and about to get killed and the only way to fix this is sending Logan back to the 70's so he can team up with young Charles and stop Mystique from getting captured by the bad guys. Also- important detail- for some reason Charles' help alone isn't enough, he has to put his, Charles', and a teenager's lives in danger to break young Erik out of the most secure prison in the world to help with the plan, which probably won't happen since Erik, especially at that time, wasn't exactly known for following plans BUT it's extremely important to the plot to have Charles and Erik stare at each other half aggressively half longingly for the rest of the fic- I mean, movie."
