fic idea, voltron x dc crossover: the paladins are wandering around the universe, not really trying to get anywhere urgently, when they come across a destroyed planet. a few parts are relatively intact, so they land and explore, maybe pay their respects to the dead.

lance wanders into the shell of what might have been a fancy house, and finds a strange symbol. maybe in tile on the floor, maybe painted onto a wall, maybe as part of a broken statue or as a wearable pin. whatever the form, it shocks him.

“guys!” lance yells. they gather close.

“wait…” keith whispers.

“no way,” hunk laughs in disbelief.

“i think i might lose my mind,” pidge adds.

shiro is speechless from shock.

“paladins?” allura asks warily. “what’s going on?”

“oh, nothing,” lance says with false calm. “just, slap me if im crazy, but this is superman’s symbol, right? the big s on his chest?”

I’m not here to discourage fanfiction. If anything I wanna encourage it. So I’m not calling any soecific story out.

But I wanna just honestly say that I don’t think I’ve ever seen a crossover Fanfiction of any teen media with the Justice League where Superman actually gets written accurately.

Maybe it’s just the ones I read? Nah. It’s just the nature of crossover fics where Fanon trumps Canon.

Bit of an Oddball

What about AUs which don't focus on or possibly even HAVE magic in them? This could be crossovers or fusion fics? or just straight AUs where the world is different! Example 1: Harry and Hermione in love in a cyberpunk style future where Harry is a cybernetically enhanced warrior and Hermione is his cyberneticist who's constantly patching him up and helping him take the fight to the evil corporations ruling Britain in the future? Example 2: Battlestar Galactica Fusion fic? Hermione is a brilliant scientist who survived the Cylon Holocaust. Harry a brave fighter jock! Together they change/improve the refugee fleet's odds of survival! (Bonus: Luna is an oracle who survived the apocalypse). The sky is the limit! And while some may ask what the point of doing something so AU is when they could just write something original. Don't let people tell you what you should and should not write! If you want to go full original go for it, but diversifying the HP fandom's content is not a bad thing either!

My thoughts: It’s really funny. I liked it. Gaara is kind of OOC because the character generally lends itself more towards Skull, but it is very funny. It’s probably easier to think of it as Skull-with-Shukaku than Gaara-and-Shukaku-are-Skull.

Soulmate marks are indicative of your soulmate's favorite thing.

And one of the batkids has absolutely none.

Sure, they've got freckles (an embarrassing amount, actually), scars, the occasional beauty mark; but no soulmark.

This means a few things; their soulmate doesn't exist, they haven't been born yet, or that they died before said batkid was born.

Seeing as Soulmates can be entirely platonic, even becoming family units later, not getting a soulmate until later in life is not unheard of.

So that batkid is waiting for their soulmate to be born, lowkey embarrassed that they're going to inevitably follow in Bruce's footsteps.

Until a chance encounter with a Soulmark specialist while they're in their civvies changes absolutely everything with one sentence.

"Oh wow, your soulmate must love stars to cover you up with the constellations of them."
