I know you’re probably getting a ton of asks rn but yaoli is a revelation. It would fix SO many things. JGY having a genuine, lasting place where he is a) respected and treated as though he belongs there b) listened to c) loved (bc he would be! even if he and yanli didn’t wind up having romantic feelings for each other, when you’re one of her people, you’re Hers) PLUS the people who care about him could and would see through his bullshit and call him out on it when needed. JGY’s insight and *actually treat him as a member of the family*. With his temper, I think it’s pretty likely JC would remind JGY of Nie Mingjue, which would be bittersweet to say the least - probably even painful sometimes, like poking at an old wound. But at least in this case, JGY’s his brother in law rather than his retainer, and there are two other people there to help translate JC’s tendency to express affection through arguments. Ok ok wait. Maybe JGY somehow actually WWX helps get the Wens out of the internment camps, in a complete 180 from canon. Knowing who JGY is as a character, it's not out of the goodness of his heart, rather done as a way subvert JGS - therefore JGS would have to toss him aside relatively quickly after accepting him, for JGY to go that route rather than the "Let's continue to commit war crimes in the hopes that it will make my dad love me" route - but, like, it's slightly less horrible.

The last thing I can't figure out, though, is how the hell Madam Jin lets a JGY/JYL marriage happen, considering that Madam Yu was her friend and she absolutely loathes JGY's guts.

Oooo yes yes, EXACTLY! These are all such good insights. Him and JC are going to be so fun to write! Yessss, I definitely have plans for how JGY can help the Wens and I think he does it as a combo ‘fuck you dad’ and also ‘this seems to matter a great deal to WWX who matters a great deal to my wife whom I would kill everyone for so...I got an idea’. 

And yes, he was married off really soon after JGS acknowledged him, probably around the time he pestered the Jiang Clan about the engagement in canon directly after the Sunshot Campaign. I have to nail the exact timeline down, but it was around there so it was a pretty quick thing and JGY had a lot less time to commit oodles of the bad shit he does for daddykins, and hurt his hope in their relationship pretty early on.

That certainly IS a sticking point, but I get the feeling it was sort of a hasty thing that JGS did, sort of packed him off without really consulting her, or even kept it from her because he wanted this kid out, dammit. He probably weighed JGY’s continued presence’s affect on her temper and how pissed she’d be at the implied insult to JYL, shrugged and said ‘fuck it, I do what I want.’

HELLO!! thank you so much!! i've only ever sold prints in person at a local convention... i DO have some leftovers and bought some mailers but I don’t want my first go at selling my stuff online to be during a pandemic when I’m not as free to do reprints/fix order mistakes /SOB

“Wow,” Wei Ying says, and a very obvious shiver goes through his body. “It’s so cold.”

They’re sitting together on the sofa - there’s a fire crackling away, real and filling the room with the smoky scent because gas fires are the worst. A movie’s on - emotional and animated meaning that both of them have already gotten teary at least once. There’s a blanket over Wen Ning’s legs and another one strewn over the back of the couch for Wei Ying, but he has apparently not noticed. He shudders again. “It’s soooo cold.”

Wen Ning plucks the blanket off the back of the couch and drops it on Wei Ying’s lap. “Here,” he says, though his brow is knit a little in concern. “I made sure... to have blankets for... both of us.”

Wei Ying blinks at him and then gives him a little smile. “Thanks, sweetheart,” he says, and he wraps himself up in it until he’s buried under the patterns. Wen Ning relaxes a little - he doesn’t want him to get sick.

But just a few minutes later, Wei Ying shivers again. “It really is cold...” he says.

Between the fire and the heat turned up a decent amount, the spicy chai and hot chocolate sitting on the table, and now the blanket wrapped around him... there’s no way that Wei Ying is cold.

Why can’t his boyfriend ever be straight forward?

Wen Ning squints at him. “What do you really want?”

Wei Ying pouts at him. “I can’t whine first?” He does like to whine, and Wei Ying leans over, letting his head bodily flop onto Wen Ning’s lap and then scooting so he can turn his blanket wrapped body up and grin at his boyfriend. “I want you to cuddle me,” he says, pampered and pleased with himself. “I’ll even make you a deal for it.”

Wen Ning smiles. “What... will you give me?” he asks, because this is a familiar game that he knows the rhythms of, knows the responses. Sometimes it’s hard - grasping the details. He and Lan Wangji chill in the confusion corner sometimes, but this is a familiar exchange he knows very well.

Wei Ying winks at him, but doesn’t respond verbally, instead closing his eyes and puckering his lips.

Wen Ning laughs, and leans down to kiss his boyfriend.

hiiiii i remember when i first clicked on ur blog and it genuinely made me laugh!!

here is a fun fact for you: making your own ricotta cheese for lasagna is very quick and easy, and the result is much tastier than store-bought ricotta which can be grainy and watery! all you need is milk, cream, and lemon juice or vinegar. it won’t work with ultra-pasteurized milk, but the cream can be ultra-pasteurizedn and it should work fine

Oh 100%, because we see he never warms to him in canon, so all he needed was to decide 'this kid gives me the creeps and the only reason I acknowledged him was because he became a war hero or something to get good face for my clan'. So as soon as he can instrumentalize him as possible, he uses him as backup for what he wanted Zixuan for. And JGY knows exactly how slapdash and plan B he is.
