Blink, and look, it hides again.

Oh, will you come searching? There's plenty of apples in this garden, and none of the paths are straight— they twine, cross, pattern, like the lines of a rune. With what face will this world appear, to you? There's blood aplenty, and it will stain, if you're here to slaughter; but perhaps you will prefer to drink, to feed from the throat of another.

Be careful of fangs; once the skin is broken, you'll return for a second bite.

But maybe that won't be your calling— how do you like the moonlight? Desire and death are well intertwined. Be wary; once the illusions fall, your wants and wishes will come tumbling too. This is a world of predators and prey— and that that hunts us will give chase for you.
