“I am a monster, but whether you remember it or not, I’m your monster, Evangeline.” ― Stephanie Garber, A Curse for True Love
“I already told you. You are the love of my life. You are mine, Jacks of the Hollow. And you’re not going to be the end of me.” “But you were dying.” “No,” she said, a little embarrassed. “I just forgot to breathe.”
“He would carry her through more than just freezing waters. He would pull her through fire if he had to, haul her from the clutches of war, from falling cities and breaking worlds . . .” ― Stephanie Garber, A Curse for True Love
Are they for real? Because I am truly in love with the way this couple breathes! Jacks is the love of my life ofc, but I think Evangeline is perfect for him... and if this book had ended any differently, I would have literally died...
I recently read this book and I was speechless... I actually cried... It's one of the best books I read this year and I'm so glad I ended my year with such a lovely story...
I just really really wish I find someone like Jacks... and I hope you too!

allow yourself to indulge in romantics.  press flowers in old books.  play movies with subtitles and mouth the words.  dance in your room.  wear something that makes you feel good, even if you wouldn’t wear it in public.  write your chosen family letters, even if you hand deliver them.  write poetry, even awful poetry.  revel in its awfulness.  eat dark chocolate and when your chosen family want to go out, try to go out with them sometimes, even if its just to the market.

'Can you see the sunset real good from the West Side?' She blinked, startled, the smiled. 'Real good.' 'You can see it good from the East Side, too.'

reading dark rise is so funny because you start the book and when the plot is introduced you say to yourself "okay but it'd be VERY funny if-" and then it turns out that you're probably right and suddenly you're screaming

Grief is everywhere. It's its own being. It walks beside you silently, jumps out at you meanly, pokes you awake at night. It makes tears roll down your cheeks at a blue sky.

“If people were always kind and obedient to those who are cruel and unjust, the wicked people would have it all their own way: they would never feel afraid, and so they would never alter, but would grow worse and worse. When we are struck at without a reason, we should strike back again very hard; I am sure we should—so hard as to teach the person who struck us never to do it again.”
- Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

howl's moving castle by diana wynne jones
Tumblr media
«i think we ought to live happily ever after,» and she thought he meant it. sophie knew that living happily ever after with howl would be a good deal more hair-raising than any storybook made it sound, though she was determined to try. «it should be hair-raising,» added howl.
«and you'll exploit me," sophie said.
«and then you'll cut up all my suits to teach me.»

Novel #14
All The Bright Places
By Jennifer Niven (⭐⭐⭐⭐)
Favorite lines from the novel:
• “Sometimes I say and do things without thinking, and people don't like that, people like labels. They like putting you in a box. They want you to be who they want you to be.”
• “People are stupid, but the tiniest few might actually mean well.”
• “He taught me that it was okay to get lost, as long as you find your way back.”
• “The thing I realize is, that it's not what you take, it's what you leave.”

• “We are all alone, trapped in these bodies and our own minds, and whatever company we have in this life is only fleeting and superficial.”
• “I learned that there is good in this world, if you look hard enough for it. I learned that not everyone is disappointing, including me, and that a 1,257-foot bump in the ground can feel higher than a bell tower if you’re standing next to the right person.”
• “I know life well enough to know you can’t count on things staying around or standing still, no matter how much you want them to. You can’t stop people from dying. You can’t stop them from going away. You can’t stop yourself from going away either.”
• “I know myself well enough to know that no one else can keep you awake or keep you from sleeping.”
• “What would I have said to him if I'd known I would never see him again?”
• “She is oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus. The same elements that are inside the rest of us, but I can’t help thinking she’s more than that and she’s got other elements going on that no one’s ever heard of, ones that make her stand apart from everybody else.”
• “People rarely bring flowers to a suicide.”
• “I am on the highest branch.
We are written in paint.
I believe in signs.
The glow of Ultraviolet.
A lake. A prayer. It's so lovely to be lovely in Private."
• “Stars in the sky, stars on the ground. It’s hard to tell where the sky ends and the earth begins. I feel the need to say something grand and poetic, but the only thing I come up with is “It’s lovely.”
• “Sorry wastes time. You have to live your life like you'll never be sorry. It's easier just to do the right thing from the start so there's nothing to apologize for.”

• “Maybe even the smallest places can mean something.”
• “You saved my life. Why couldn't I save yours?”
• “You know what I like about you, Ultraviolet Remarkey-able? Everything.”
• “And in that moment there’s nothing I fear except losing hold of her hand.”
• “What a terrible feeling to love someone and not be able to help them.”

Stories have a way of changing faces. They are unruly things, undisciplined, given to delinquency and the throwing of erasers. This is why we must close them up into thick, solid books, so they cannot get out and cause trouble.
