The most fucked up rescue ever

Warning: This mini-essay mentions rape, child abuse, forced sex on a teenager, torture and snakes. Please take care. When I was a teen, I was a huge fan of the manga/anime Descendants of the Darkness (Yami no Matsuei.) It was a dark shounen-ai manga in the vein of the late 90s early 00s version of the genre. In the manga, there is a plotline that, thanks to knowledge from later chapters, becomes somehow the lesser of two evils.

To wit, one of the main characters is Hisoka Kurosaki who is an empath. This made him an outcast and he was often locked in his room because he was a 'demon.' Hisoka, at age 13, runs into Kazutaka Muraki who then proceeds to rape him and draw sigils on him that kept him alive for 3 years near death. Okay, that is fucked up. EXTREMELY fucked up. Yet, Hisoka dodged a HUGE bullet by dying like that. See, the Kurosaki clan's ancestor imprisoned a great serpent in his body and the family has been keeping the thing inside the head of the clan ever since. The head of the household must deal with -nightly- tentacle rapes from the serpent. There is also infanticide of female babies to avoid the serpent's possession birthing the serpent once more. Hisoka, being the son of the current main family head, would have had that as his fate had he not been killed by Muraki. So Muraki, by torturing and raping Hisoka, saved the poor boy from a much MUCH worse fate.

This manga was fucked up, but this takes the cake.
