Random Tien Headcanons

(Because I’m bored and have been rewatching old Dragon Ball clips lately....)

*Tien is gray aro-ace.

*If/When he does fall for someone, it’s going to be a guy. ONLY a guy. .....Tien likes dudes. :|

*He’s in love with Yamcha. He’s been attracted to him since he first laid eyes on him, which is why he wouldn’t stop pestering him at the 22nd Tenkaichi Boudokai. He falls or him when Yamcha immediately forgives him for breaking his leg. He doesn’t pursue and keeps his distance, one, because he’s shy and awkward and doesn’t know how to approach the situation. And two, because even he knows how inappropriate pursuing him while he has a girlfriend is. (Also, there’s that whole being a dude thing.)

*Speaking of that, following the 22nd World Tournament, Tien develops a very deep depression that he never recovers from. Tao’s “death”, finding out that he was lead astray by his master and feeling the crushing guilt that came with it, betraying said master, then losing the man he now looked to as a master and his best friend, trying to redeem himself by killing King Piccolo and failing, and also the guilt he feels for the all the fighters he’s crippled (Yamcha especially) took a huge tole on him. (Dude was hit by a lot in the span of a couple of days.) And also, his fight with Tao a few years later and realizing fully the kind of man he idolized and....well, we’ll get to that in a second.

It’s why he becomes stoic, straight-laced, and withdrawn and quiet. (Note: Super makes it seem like he’s getting a little better, but who knows?)

*He cares deeply about his friends, but secretly feels he doesn’t deserve them. It’s why he constantly leaves, isolates himself and tells them that they’ll never see him again after whatever thing that happened. 

*Launch was basically a rebound for him. He isn’t into and never was. He clung to her briefly in grief and loneliness, but moves on as soon as he has his companions back. (I say this because in the show, he immediately rejects her advances, it seems like he’s vaguely interested immediately following the King Piccolo arc, but as soon as Chiaotzu is brought back, he immediately goes back to ignoring and actively avoiding her. .....also, there’s that whole being a woman thing.)

*Speaking of Chiaotzu, he loves him; he’s not IN love with him. And no, I’m saying that because Chiaotzu is “a child” (he’s very clearly, canonically not...), but because Tien just doesn’t love him in that way. Who he DOES love though...

*Tao. Tao was Tien’s first love. The had a “thing” way back, but Tien was too young to understand what was really happening and mistook it as affection. :/ 

* He still feels an unreasonable amount of guilt for breaking Yamcha’s leg, even though Yamcha has all but completely forgotten about the whole thing.

*He hates Vegeta so much because Vegeta reminds him so much of who he used to be and could’ve wound up as. 

*He has a hair fetish.

*Wouldn’t grow his own hair because he finds it annoying and too much of a hassle to upkeep. (Can feel him on that....>_>....)

*Think he will eventually approach Yamcha, possibly somewhere in the Super spectrum (lord knows Super has been throwing hints at it like crazy....). Everyone knows he likes him and thinks they’re actually secretly dating/married by the time Beerus shows up. Everyone but Yamcha, that is....
