remember when we were genuinely asking publishers to put summaries on the back of books instead of stuff like “Raw, unbridled, honest immigrant story. - The Evening Post” and now y’all replicate the exact same thing by going “but own vooices with gays!!!!!” on a post that literally says please put summaries on your book recs
I still can’t believe that I got to write an official #StrangerThings podcast and that it got to be about about: my favorite lesbian, being an English nerd, finding your place to belong, croissants all episodes #SurvivingHawkins are out now on all podcast platforms!! working with @netflix on building this show and then getting to direct @maya_hawke and @sean_m_maher was a DREAM. doing all of that in a story about how it’s okay to be different because there are always people who will accept you for who you are? the cherry on top 💞 also omg pls go read REBEL ROBIN by @ar_capetta ITS SO FREAKIN GOOD (you can listen first and then read or vice versa!) #strangerthings #mayahawke #robinbuckley #audiodrama #wlw #yareads #rebelrobin #seanmaher https://www.instagram.com/p/CSH0hIap247/?utm_medium=tumblr
Oooo I loved this one! At first I was drawn in because of the mention of a school of magic, but this ended up being so special and unique that I fell even more in love than I thought I would. Oh, and I was able to pretty much thoroughly practice my Spanish. There was so much of it! 😅
The story centers around Manu, who is on the run alongside her mother from ICE and Manu's father's family. Both Manu and her mother are undocumented immigrants from Argentina, and I especially loved the Argentinean folklore woven perfectly into the story regarding lobizones and brujas. Suddenly Manu is transported into a world hidden from her reality in Miami, where she learns about a magical community that eventually welcomes her and gives her a sense of belonging.
My main appraisal for this story is the variety of themes and characters. Everything ranges from the fear of being an undocumented immigrant running from ICE, to being different from your peers, defying the norm that you have to fit in, gender identity and sexuality, and so much more. I don't think I've ever read a YA so diverse as this one (especially not when I was considered the target age for YA years ago), so I'm so glad this one had a unique narrative that makes it stand out from the rest.
This book put a giant smile on my face right from the start. It’s been on my TBR forever (in fact this picture was taken pre-pandemic at my family’s favourite brunch place that is now closed) and I don’t know why I didn’t get through it sooner.
Though the light fund mood quickly turned somber, if a book starts with smile inducing powers you know it’s going to be a good read.
QTOD: What's an author you want to read more from? I'd love to read more books from #JenniferLynnBarnes. I loved her The Naturals series and also enjoyed The Fixer duology. I still have to read The Inheritance Games, though. I feel like since I'm already behind (the second book came out today), I might as well wait for the series to be completed before starting it. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers. 😅 Do you binge read series? — [Image description: Flatlay of the book The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes on a blanket with a cup of coffee, a candle, and some fake greenery.] . . . ⚔️ challenges #CreativeBookstagram [legacy] #AllTheBooksSep21 [flatlay] #BookstaWitchery [favorite author] . #TheInheritanceGames #TheNOVL #amreading #reading #booksarelife #avidreader #bookrecommendation #bookpics #booksaremagic #bookreaders #readingforpleasure #readersunite #bookstagrammademedoit #averybookishpost https://instagr.am/p/CTish_qLzDf/

I had an absolute blast reading Pearson’s “The Remnent Chronicles!” I discovered it after a friend told me to read “The Dance of Thieves” duology and I am so glad I reached for it!
I definitely recommend this trilogy to those new to the young adult fantasy genre 🗡🤍 It won’t take long to become completely immersed in the world and fully invested in the characters and their storyline!
I definitely plan on revisiting this series soon and I hope Pearson will allow us to return to Morrighan, Venda, and Dalbreck in future works 🤞
Saturday ~ I made a huge mistake today. I reorganized and cleaned up my bookshelves. Since I got a new bookshelf last year, I still have alot of room on my shelves. that‘s the reason why I always leave small things like note pads everywhere on it. But today I got so annoyed how untidy it look. After I cleaned it up and reorganized it, I suddenly had even more room on my shelves and that annoyed me even more 🙈 and I want to buy new books ~ I love Howl‘s Moving Castle. What genres are you reading this weekend? 🍃✨📚 . Today we are excited to feature Hunt the Fae by @nataliajaster in collaboration with @mtmctours! ✨📖 . Step into the Dark Fables World, where defiant mortals and deceitful faeries clash. Hunt the Fae is the second book in Natalia Jaster’s hot fantasy romance series, Vicious Faeries. (Both books in the Vicious Faeries series are free on Kindle Unlimited!) 😍🙌 . 🍃 Here's a short synopsis for Hunt the Fae 🍃 The moment I step into Faerie, I become his. Everyone knows about the Fae of the forest—gorgeous, sinful, deadly. When I trespass into their magical world, I need more than my sharp tongue to survive. Especially against the ruler of the woodland. And because the Fae bastard likes to play with his captives, he gives me two choices: either hunt or be hunted... . QTOD: What's a city you'd like to explore? I'd love to explore more of Philly and NYC, the major big cities near me, but also San Francisco. I've been there a few times since I have family who live in the Bay Area, but I don't think I've ever really had the opportunity to do really touristy stuff. And if I had, I don't remember (sorry Mom). 😅 I've actually weirdly been thinking of SF a lot lately. I guess it's because I've been thinking of visiting family there again, #LastNightAtTheTelegraphClub taking place there in the 1950s, and also Shang Chi, the new Marvel movie, being set there. 🤷🏻♀️ Have you seen Shang Chi yet?
