anyone else just lowkey dreading the announcement of the 14th doctor?
like I KNOW I’m gonna become obsessed with whoever it is and eventually think they are amazing because it’s happened with every single other doctor so far
But as yaz says: I’m just really not ready to let jodie and 13 (plus mandip/yaz) go yet.
Jodie as the doctor has just been absolutely phenomenal to me and I wish she had at least another season to work through all the aspects of 13 that haven’t been fully explored yet. I feel like the last few episodes have kinda been getting there but I just feel like I still don’t really truely know this doctor cos she has been written as someone who keeps everything hidden (which like fair enough tbh) but it just makes me want to know MORE.
Writing this out has made me realise that lmao actually I might just be yaz. “I want more, more of the universe. More time with you.”
THE WOMAN WHO FELL TO EARTH (2018) | THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH (1976)
[ID: 1. two gifs from the woman who fell to earth. the first shows yaz, ryan, graham, and thirteen standing and sitting around outside a house with the city’s skyline visible in the background. yaz asks, “So everything we saw, everything we’ve lied to people about, is this normal for you?. thirteen considers the question, nods, then smiles and says “I’m just a traveller.”
2. two gifs from the man who fell to earth. it shows thomas, bowie’s character, resting on a pillow in a hotel room. mary-lou, off-screen, asks “What do you do? For a living, I mean.” he replies, “Oh, I’m just visiting”. mary-lou, with a drink in hand, excitedly says “Oh, a traveller!”. thomas quirks his eyebrows. /end ID.]
so we all know that the woman who fell to earth is not only 13 but also grace yeah? and how graham always wanted more time with her? and how he said: "i might not now her before we met. i can`t stand there and pretend that i know everything about her" and how yaz (okay this is not the first ep but still) still owes her mom some explanations?
i think she`s going to spend pre-regen moments with 13 and how 13 is going to mirror grace`s "promise to not be afraid/scared... when i`m gone". i also think there might be the very same situation with 13 and yaz not knowing that this is their last convo and 13 might kiss yaz to calm her down (mirroring grace kissing graham). and then yaz is going to meet her family and tell `em about the woman she loved. bc this is a very important part of every character`s major loss in chibbs era: they lose someone and then tell a story/speech -> graham did this with grace -> ryan did this with grace -> yaz is going to do this with her woman.
“Ace.” The Doctor looked suddenly hearbroken. “You know how much I can gabble on, Yaz. You know how good I am at talking. I once talked a Dalek to death. An actual Dalek! And Ace was with me then, right here in London, 60 odd years ago. Good God, all the talking I’ve done. But, you know, trying to talk to Ace… where were the words?” She shook her head, baffled. “I’m pretty good at uncovering things. I’ve discovered the rarest things in the strangest places, clear across the cosmos. But the right words to say to that woman? Nope. Never. She was sat beside me in the car and I still couldn’t find them.”
- At Childhood’s End, Sophie Aldred.
Seriously. Out of all of the Thirteenth Doctor novels Sophie Aldred's book is still the most in character Thirteen.
And also still so very relevant to Thirteen in regards to Yaz.
But, you know, trying to talk to Ace… where were the words?” She shook her head, baffled. “I’m pretty good at uncovering things. I’ve discovered the rarest things in the strangest places, clear across the cosmos. But the right words to say to that woman? Nope. Never. She was sat beside me in the car and I still couldn’t find them.
More than anything this, this might also be why Thirteen is procrastinating talking to Yaz because she couldn't find the right words to talk to her.
