"Yes, Master?" Sebastian answered back

"Save me now!" Ciel yelled, and with that, Sebastian saved Ciel again from a guy wanting money, willing to kill Ciel

Ghost Hunt

"Mai! Tea!" Called Naru, when she walked in through the door

"Im on it!" Mai yelled, and headed for the kitchen to make Narus tea, when she finished she gave it to Naru, and waited there

"What do you want?" he asked

"Say thank you" Mai said, Naru just looked away from Mai and back to his work

"You know a thank you wouldn't hurt anything!" She yelled, when a client came in, a girl

"Are you S.P.R?" she asked

"Yes" Mai answered, and then the girl came and sat down on the couch

"Well, I-I have a case" she said, and Naru looked up from what he was doing

"Ok, tell us" Naru said

"Well my name is Suki, and weird things have been happening at my house" Suki said

"What kind of things?" Naru asked

"Well like, every now and then objects will be fine, then the next secound they will be floating, and then be thrown, and never found" Suki started "Also we will hear banging, and doors slamming" Suki finished

Naru sat their thinking for a little bit then said "We will take it, prepare us rooms" Naru said, then stood up and went into his office, then Suki turned to Mai

"Thank you, ill see you there!" Suki said and ran out

Mais POV, THE NEXT DAY

We get to the house, and prepare to get started, I set up cameras everywhere, with Yasu's help, and Masako goes around the house to see if she can sense anything, whill John, Monk, and Ayako Help set up the Base.

"Did you finish?" Naru asks me when Yasu and I walk in

"Yes" I say, and sit down, when Masako comes in

"Their is something here, but i can't read what it is" she says, and stands by Naru

"ok" he says, and continues to look at the TV's

After about an hour of research, and questioning its time to go to bed, we are all in are beds when I see a Blue light, in the middle of the floor

"Hey Masako, do you see that?" I ask

"Yes" she answers when Naru, Lin, John, Yasu, and Monk come running in

"What is that?!" Monk asks

"I never seen anything like it" Naru says studying it

"Me either" Yasu says and studies it as well, we sit in silence for awhile starring at it, when it expands, when it does it looks bigger then Lin!

"What the...!" Monk yells, then a bright light shines from it, and everything goes black.

Black Butler, Mai's POV

When my vision comes through, its day, I look around im in a total diffrent room! I see that nobody else is in this room either, then I hear the door open

AN: First Black Butler Drabble! XD Plz Review!

He was falling. Falling into a dark abyss of despair, grief, and sadness. A single sound echoed in the darkness. A pained and desperate sound, crying out for help. Help that would never come. Lost in the darkness, a light that could never be reached. That, was the meaning of such a vengeful existence.

The morning sun shone brightly through the open window.

"Bocchan," Sebastian's voice intoned softly," it's time for you to wake up."

Groaning softly, Ciel slowly lifted his tired body off the bed and opened his half shut eyes.

"It's a nice day today," Sebastian commented, proceeding to dress the groggy young master.

"There's no need for needless comments Sebastian," Ciel murmured in a commanding sort of voice. Bowing his head, Sebastian said," As you wish."

An awkward silence followed, and soon, Ciel was ready for the day. Standing up, Sebastian excused himself, leaving Ciel to his own devices. For the rest of the day, there was no more voice interaction between the two.

Everything was communicated by glares and grunts, words were unnecessary.

Soon, night was approaching quickly once more, the last rays of sunshine giving off a feeble glow. Ciel wouldn't admit it, but sleep terrified him. Haunting nightmares and horrible memories invaded every night's dreams.

It was an endless and vicious cycle, one that tormented him to no end. That fateful smoke covered night, brought to the forefront of his mind. The horror and realization of what had happened. The demon…. approaching him, offering his undying loyalty in exchange for his soul. The deal that day had sealed his fate. The right path was lost, the darkness swallowing what was left of him.

As these dark thoughts crossed his mind, Sebastian entered the bedroom.

"Young master," he said, a slight questioning tone in his voice.

"Sebastian," Ciel said firmly, covering up any troubled traces on his face," I was beginning to think you would never come." Ignoring the last comment, Sebastian asked," Is something wrong bocchan? Such a troubled face does not suit the young master."

"Nothing is wrong," Ciel said stubbornly, his facial features sharpening in the warm glow of the lamp. Nodding his head in acknowledgement, Sebastian muttered," Good night then young master."

Placing the lamp on the desk next to the bed, he blew the light out. Walking towards the door, he heard a small and timid voice call out to him. "Sebastian," Ciel's voice commanded, his voice shaking with shame and helplessness," stay with me until I'm asleep."

Smiling to himself in the blank darkness Sebastian replied," If this is what the bocchan wants, I have no choice but to comply." Ciel sighed softly, his mind giving in to sleep. That night, there were no nightmares and no horrible memories. For the first time in a long time, Ciel felt something other than pain.

He felt tranquility.

Whoa! I'm done with my first chapter! Actually this is the second fanfiction in FKI. But the first fanfiction I deleted. Because? One reason: UGLY. Levie looks more like Alois Trancy. I can't imagine Sebastian wanting to serve an employer like that. Brrr.. *sudden goosebumps*.

In this fanfiction , I made a SebastianXOC pair *sorry for fans of SebastianXCiel pair .. I hope you guys like this fanfiction * because I like it. It's not that I hate YAOI or Shonen-Ai.. I like it. I passed it on to my friend. Eehh.. even your friend asked me to help me find the Rated M. So collect it *oops, open the disgrace*. It's just.. I'm more comfortable when Sebastian pairs with a GIRL . A real girl, of course.. Ciel just 'looks like' a pretty girl *gets hit by Ciel*. For those who want to read, please... Review? Please.. Favorite? Wow.. please! Chapter 1: Beginning

The hands touched the girl roughly. The girl struggled. squirm. Shout with all your might. But nothing stopped. Her tears were the size of corn kernels incessantly. The girl was panting from exhaustion from screaming since this afternoon. The girl kept on praying to God. To be given a savior to save him. But..

-NOBODY COMES-

The girl gasped. Who said that?

-NOBODY COMES. THAT GOD DOESN'T EXIST-

The girl sighed loudly. The hands were still touching his body. But they did it rudely. He still didn't stop praying to God.

-NO ONE WILL SAVE YOU. ASK ME HELP-

The girl's eyes were getting dull and weak. His breathing is irregular. He continued to pray to God. Looking forward to the help that will come to him.

-STAY WHAT YOU REQUEST. I WILL ACCEPT-

The girl gasped. An old man pulled out a knife that gleamed in the moonlight peeking through the window. The old geezer smirked at the frightened girl. 'What? What are they going to do?!'

-STAY YOUR REQUEST!-

The knife was getting closer to him. And..

JREB!

"AAAAAARRGGGHHHH!" The girl screamed in pain. ' Why? Why is all this happening to me?'

-COME ON, SAY IT..-

"I..." The girl said weakly. "Want to be free."

-ONE MORE TIME-

"I!" said the girl. "WANT TO BE FREE! Free me from the hands of these damn people!"

-GOOD-

A second later, a black shadow suddenly appeared above the girl who was lying down. The people who had touched it were both amazed and frightened to see the shadow.

"He's coming!" cried the man who stabbed the knife at the girl. "I have summoned you! Grant my wish! Grant me wealth and eternal life!"

-YOU CALLED ME, BUT I'M NOT INTERESTED IN YOU-

"Eh?" the man asked. Everyone is silent.

-I WANT THIS GIRL-

The girl trembled. He could see blood red eyes staring at him intently. He looked very scared.

-YOU ALREADY MADE YOUR REQUEST. DO YOU REGRET NOW? NO WAY BACK-

The girl swallowed. In his heart he justifies the word 'something'. He closed his eyes then slowly he opened them and showed his dark black eyeballs and said firmly.

"I won't go back on my word anymore. I want to be free. Kill these people."

Everyone who was there suddenly screamed hysterically. One of them said shakily. "Anyone! Stop that girl!"

-OK, BEFORE I HAVE TO MARK BOTH OF OUR CONTRACTS-

"Just put it down!"

-ANYWHERE?-

"Anywhere!" said the girl.

-OK.. BECAUSE YOU ARE A GIRL.. I WILL MARK ONLY ONE GIRL HAVING THEM-

"You mean..AAAKKKHHHH!" the girl screamed in pain. Signing the contract was very, very painful. More than the stab wound the old man had given him.

-IT'S FINISHED. IT'S TIME TO COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION Ms.. WHAT'S YOUR NAME?-

"Levie.. Levie Rodrickfille.." the girl replied weakly.

-LEVIE? BEAUTIFUL NAME.. MY LADY..-

"Now.. Hurry! Kill them!"

Suddenly a man in an all-black tailcoat fell from the huge black shadow. Her dark black hair was straight and parted in the middle slowly falling beside her face. His handsome face was decorated with a mysterious smile. His irises were blood red. And now it's starting to turn purple and light up. Slowly he answered his new Lady's orders.. "Yes, My Lady.."

The sun seemed to be trying to infiltrate through the slits of Levie's eyes. Levi squirmed. Then open his eyes. He is now lying on a bed. The bed in the room in his apartment. He felt very dizzy now. It's like drinking a lot of alcohol.

"Good morning." Said a deep and..sexy (?) voice *well, that's what i imagine about :P i think he has a sexy voice. Kyaa~!*

"Morning." Levi replied. While getting up from his bed and holding his head which still hurts. But.. wait. He thought he was alone in this apartment. Well, he broke up with his ex a month ago and isn't dating anymore. There's no way his ex would come here again. Who is it, then..

"How are you, Miss?"

Levie froze to see a tall, well-built man wearing an all-black tailcoat that wrapped his well-proportioned body. His face was handsome, he knew even though he was currently closing his eyes and smiling sweetly at him.

"Did you sleep well?" asked the man again.

"Y-yes.." Levie answered half consciously.

"I've prepared breakfast for today. Sorry, I can only prepare toast with Miss's favorite blueberry jam . For the drink I prepared Chamomile tea. "

Levie shook his head vigorously. "N-nothing. Toast is enough."

"Good. I'll go shopping for extra food for lunch and dinner later."

"I-iya."

"Oh, I have something to say, Miss. Since I feel that Miss is still not well, I presumptuously asked permission from Harry Accounting where Miss works. I'm sorry."

"It's okay. No.. Nothing.."

"Okay. Do you want to take a warm bath? I think it's good to recover your strength a bit."

"Warm water.. Not a bad idea.." said Levie still feeling airy. He was still feeling dizzy, so he didn't want to think about complicated things right now.

"Okay. I'll get it ready soon."

Levi nodded resignedly. Then the man left the room. Levie felt his soul was still floating somewhere. He was still thinking about last night.

Last night.. he.. felt like he couldn't sleep on a soft bed like this. That place.. Louder. No, very hard. Like wood maybe? And... it's dark all around. Only the light from the torches around him illuminated him. There was a strange symbol... Like a ritual symbol he had seen in a book of fortune-telling that he accidentally found in the state library.

Then.. there are people who wear masks and smile strangely at him..

"Miss, the warm water is ready." Said the man, who had suddenly entered his room.

"O-okay. Thank you."

Levie got up from his bed and headed for the bathroom. It's true what the man said, the warm water is ready..

"Are you feeling better, Miss?" asked the man who was now standing next to Levie who was sitting at the table eating toast with blueberry jam .

Levi nodded. Then sip the tea. After that he put down his cup and sighed.

"Enak."

"That's good then. Miss want to rest again?"

Levi nodded.

"Okay. Let's go to Miss's room.."

"Wait!" cut Levi.

"Yes? What's the matter, Miss?"

"There's something I want to ask you."

"Please ask anything, Miss."

Levi was silent for a moment. He stared intently at the handsome man in front of him.

"Who are you?"

Silence for a moment. The man still didn't answer. The man was still staring at his master flatly. While Levie was still looking at the man expectantly, waiting for an answer from him.

Finally the man replied, "I'm just a butler ."

"But I don't feel like having a butler ." Levi said.

The man smiled. "Maybe you forgot because you were too shocked by what happened yesterday."

"Yesterday? What happened?" Levie furrowed his brows, confused.

"Where's the earth?"

Levie tried to remember. but finally he nodded his head "I guess so.."

The man smirked. "Try to remember again."

Levi frowned. Trying to remember. yes, he's starting to remember.. Masked guys.. sticking out their hands to Levie. Levi shouted. The hands did not stop touching Levie's body. They grinned in satisfaction while Levie wept and drenched in sweat.

Then, one of them, an old man, took out a knife. Then.. Stabbed him.. He screamed in pain. But they just laughed seeing him helpless. Levie screamed for help. Then.. he made a wish. And.. The black shadow came. Make a contract.. Then.. Kill them all..

"You..." Levi said. His eyes widened in disbelief.

"Yes, that's right. I'm the demon you asked for your favor."

"I-devil?" Levie's lips trembled as he spoke. The handsome creature in front of him is a demon?!

"Ya, benar."

"Impossible.."

"Impossible?" man..no, the demon raised his eyebrows. "You called me without knowing who I really am?"

"How would I know? Baka! At that time.. I just thought, anyone is fine.. As long as they can save me.."

The handsome devil chuckled.

"Why are you laughing?!" Levi protested.

"Then it's fine, Miss." The demon said while putting on an annoying look. "You said, 'anyone's fine', didn't you?"

Levie looked at him blankly. "You are right."

"Are you sorry?" asked the devil.

Levie looked at him for a moment. "No.. Not anymore.."

"Very well then. Well, now please rest, Miss."

"Oh wait, demon." chirp Levie.

"Ya?"

"What's your name?"

The devil smiled. "Anyone you want."

"Emm.." Levie seemed to think for a moment. "What if.. Sebastian.. Sebastian Michaelis..?"

The demon who had been given the name Sebastian Michaelis positioned his hands on his chest and squatted down with one knee touching the floor. His body is positioned slightly bent. He grabbed his master's hand with his white glove covered hand and kissed his master's hand.

"Fine. From now on, my name is Sebastian Michaelis."

Levie withdrew his hand with a straight face. "Yeah.. By the way. I've had enough rest. I want to get out and get some fresh air."

"But your condition is still..."

"This is an order." Levi said.

Sebastian didn't object. "Yes, my lady."

Bonus story: Towards the name 'Sebastian Michaelis'.

"Anyone you want." The devil smiled.

"Emm.." Levie berpikir. "Amy?"

"Er.. I thought it was a girl's name."

"You're right. Donald Duck?"

"Anda yakin?"

"No, no. I'm kidding. I don't want to have a butler named duck. David Beckam? Obama? Charles? Liverpool? Aming? Ponari? Joko Bodo?"

"Uh.. You don't have to decide now.."

"Aahh! Shut up! I don't want to summon 'devil, devil' for the rest of my life!" Levie looked around him. Trying to find inspiration. Then his attention was drawn to his can of blueberry jam . The branded 'DanisH'.

"This is it! I've decided.. Sebastian Michaelis! Yes, that's your name, Sebastian Michaelis!"

What exactly does it have to do with it.. Well never mind..., thought the demon, letting out a resigned sigh.

Chapter 2: Love is Sick

"Are you sure you want to go now?" Sebastian asked when they were in the car.

"Do I have to repeat myself again, Sebastian?!" cursed Levi.

Sebastian bowed his head. " My Apologized ."

"Hn." Levi mumbled. Then threw his face out the car window.

"Where are we going now, Young Mistress ?"

Levie menyipitkan mata pada Sebastian. "Young Mistress? Am i younger than you?"

"I can't say no, Miss."

Levie memutar bola matanya. Dasar iblis. "Whatever. Bring me wherever you want me to go."

"How about to go to hell, young mistress?" Goda Sebastian, yang dibalas delikan mata Levie.

"No kidding!"

Sebastian smirked. "I'm not kidding, Miss. You'd better be more careful in giving orders."

Levi snorted. "I want to go somewhere quiet, and cool," he said.

"Yes, My Lady."

"Ini.."

"The grassy fields are the inspiration for the famous painting, 'Lembayung Twilight', Miss." Sebastian said.

Levi was amazed. What Sebastian said was true. There are indeed a lot of weeds in this field... weeds of course, but this place is beautiful. Very beautiful. It's hard to describe in words, but Levie really admits this place is very beautiful indeed.

"Miss, do you want to rest here?" Sebastian asked.

"Okay.." Levie said as he prepared to sit down.

"Ah, wait, Miss!" stop Sebastian. Levie frowned with a questioning look at him. But that view was answered by Sebastian who suddenly took out a cloth for the seat and spread it next to Levie..

"How did you..."

"A butler must prepare everything well. I have also prepared provisions." Sebastian said while showing the picnic basket that had appeared out of nowhere.

"Are we going on a picnic?" said Levie sarcastically. Then sat down on the cloth, followed by Sebastian, who was now sitting next to him.

Levie looked at the scene that was now right in front of him in disbelief.

' Agreement with the devil? Can it be trusted? But that's how I am now. Make a pact with the devil. And the contract is marked on my chest. Yes, my CHEST. I just found out in the shower earlier. Turns out he's a perverted demon too. And at the end of the contract , my soul will be eaten by him.'

Suddenly Levie remembered something. He then turned his gaze to Sebastian.

"Sebastian." Call Levi.

"Yes, Young Mistress?"

"We made a contract, didn't we? What exactly... Our contract? Explain it to me. I really don't remember it."

"Oh, about that." Sebastian said. "I remember you asking me two things. One, you want to be free. Two, I must fulfill all your orders until you voluntarily let me take your soul."

"I see.. But.. It might take you a long time, Sebastian. Humans are greedy, won't be satisfied with a mere wish or two."

Sebastian smiled. A (obviously) smile made. "Maybe to Oujou-sama — no , human, it feels long. But to me it's just a blink of an eye."

Levi smiled sarcastically. "Very well, then I shall satisfy myself with the wishes which I shall give you later."

" Yes , young mistress.. Please give orders and I will always be by your side forever."

"Error." Sergah Levie. "Until my soul is eaten by you."

"I think it's better to call it 'till the end'."

"Whatever. I'm going to bed." Levie said as he lay down on the mat. Sebastian quickly tucked a pillow under Levie's head before he lay down.

"Rather than a butler , you are more suitable for me to name Doraemon." Levi said.

"Doraemon? Apa itu?"

"The future cat robot that can take out sophisticated tools from its thin pouch. He came from the future to help the human child who is always careless named Nobita. He came to change his future." Levie explained while still lying down and looking at Sebastian 's ruby .

"So funny. Change the future? That's impossible. What a stupid cartoon."

"But I like it. Is that stupid?"

Sebastian looked at Levie for a moment then answered with his usual smile. "Of course not, miss."

Levi snorted. "What a sweet word. I thought I should give you one more order."

"Apa itu, Nona?"

"Never lie to me. It's enough for humans to lie to me, no need to add demons. Troublesome."

Sebastian chuckled. "Yes, my lady."

"I've prepared Chicken Alfredo for dinner with Blueberry Creamy Milk Pudding for dessert ."

Levie muttered before starting to eat the food.

"Nice." His comment after eating one mouthful.

"Thank you." Sebastian bowed his head.

"You're not eating?" asked Levi.

"I don't need to eat, Miss." Sebastian replied with his characteristic smile.

"I shouldn't have asked."

Sebastian didn't answer. He was still standing next to Levie until Levie finished his meal. After that, Sebastian took the dirty dishes from the food to the sink and washed them.

Levie watched Sebastian who was still washing. He saw the body behind him had a proportional and well-built posture. It fits his..(Levie a bit hard to admit) handsome face. Levie was willing to bet, if he applied for a job in Hollywood. He will immediately be given a job as the main character of a film.

"Hey Sebastian." Call Levi.

Sebastian stopped his washing for a moment then turned to his young mistress . "Yes?"

"Is.. the figure I see now is your true form?"

Sebastian rolled his eyes for a moment. Then smiled faintly. "Of course not, miss."

Levi nodded. "I already guessed."

"What's wrong, young mistress ?" Sebastian asked who had finished washing and was now walking towards his young mistress .

"No.. I was just thinking.. Your appearance is fake.."

"Then?" Sebastian leaned his face into Levie's. His face was so close that Levie could feel his breath. "Does that weigh you down? Or do you prefer the 'real' me?"

Levie smiled while still looking at Sebastian's face. " Yeah , it's better this way."

"Good. I can't imagine your expression when you see my 'real' figure." Sebastian chuckled.

"You demon." Levie took his eyes off Sebastian and took a sip of the tea in the cup in front of him.

"But, Miss." Levi turned. Sebastian brought his lips to Levie's ear. "Even though it's fake, but I can give 'happiness' to a lady like you, just like a real man."

Levie smiled meaningfully. "Happiness in what?"

Sebastian blinked an eye as he put his index finger to his lips. "Do you want me to explain it as well as 'practice' it?"

"Tch." Levi smirked. "You perverted demon."

Sebastian smiled sweetly. "I'm just a butler , miss."

"Ya, ya.. Whatever."

Levi's cell phone rings. He groped his pants pocket and took out his cellphone. He saw the name on the screen. Katherine William Jr. Levi gulped. His cellphone never picked up. He just stared at his cell phone which never stopped ringing.

"Why didn't you pick it up, Miss?" Sebastian asked.

Levi didn't answer. He hesitated whether to answer or not. But if not answered..

"Hello?" Levie finally answered the phone. There was a sigh of relief from the other side.

"Finally you picked it up. I thought you were fine. You're all right, aren't you, Vie?"

"No.. I'm fine." Levi said coldly.

There was a heavy sigh from Katherine. "Do you still hate me?"

"Who said I hated it?" Levie said in an even tone.

"Oh, come on." Katherine sulked. "I've been with you since birth. I know you more than anyone. Even more than our mothers. Come on, explain your problem."

"Kath, I'm not in the mood to talk about this right now. I suddenly don't feel well."

"Really? Then I'll be there with William.."

"I said no!" cut Levi. " Please, Kath. I don't want to argue with you. Please listen to me just this once."

Katherine was silent for a moment before saying in a hoarse voice. "Okay.. If you need me. Just call, and I'll immediately go there ."

"Hmm." Levi mumbled. Phone disconnected. By Katherine.

Levie threw his cellphone carelessly on the dining table. He then got up from the chair and threw himself on the sofa. Then covered his eyes with his left arm. Her body trembled as if she was crying, but without a sound.

Sebastian paused for a moment looking at his master. Then he walked to the closet and took a blanket and brought it to Levie.

"You can catch a cold if you sleep here." Sebastian said as he covered Levie.

Levi didn't budge. She's still crying.

"Finally you cry too." Sebastian said. It made Levie turn to him with his eyes wet with tears that had not yet dried.

"Maksudmu?"

"Well.. Once you realize you've made a contract with me.. Normally humans would cry first out of a little regret. Strangely, you only cried after being contacted by—your brother." Sebastian said.

Levie looked away from Sebastian. "Why should I cry over that? After all, I have agreed to a contract with you."

"Then why are you crying—because of your brother?"

"Why should I explain it to you?" said Levie hoarsely.

"Because I feel you need to explain. So that your stifling feelings that have been piling up are a little less." Sebastian replied calmly.

Levie turned his body towards Sebastian who was kneeling next to him. "This might be a little boring and cliché..."

Sebastian looked deeply into Levie's brown eyes . "I'll listen until you're done talking."

"Well..." Levie sighed. "It all started, maybe, when we were both born. Born almost at the same time. And she was given a name that was longer than mine. Katherine Cordelia Rodrickfille. As for me, Levie Ethel Rodrickfille. Even though we were twins, we were different. Kath had mom's blue eyes and daddy's blonde hair. My mother's jet black hair and father's brown eyes are the complete opposite, even though our facial lines are similar.

Everyone, love Kath more. But I don't care. I was like, 'It's okay. After all, what to pay attention to? Better be alone. I can be free!' But that thought fell apart since William came in. He changed my world. And sadly, Kath's world too. Even though I was the first to meet William.. First I realized my feelings for William were love.. But I was also the first one.. Who knew, William liked Kath. And to this day, I still love William and hate Kath."

Levi was silent for a moment. His eyes wandered. Sebastian was still seriously watching him. His hand wrapped in his white glove now gripped Levie's right hand gently.

"I'm stupid, aren't I? Liking someone like that.. The one who's obviously going to like Kath. Turns out love is painful, I'm.. will never be loved." Levi's eyes filled with tears.

"Miss is right." Sebastian said.

The tears that were stuck in the corners of his eyes seemed to evaporate. "What do you mean?"

"Miss is right that love is painful. No love has a happy ending. Nothing. Everything has to end painfully."

Levi's eyes narrowed. Then smiled weakly. "You are right."

"So." Sebastian wiped Levie's tears from the corners of Levie's eyes with his finger. "Don't cry over stupid things about love like this again. You have to be strong. Because you.."

Sebastian kissed Levie's hand. "Is my employer." he continued.

Levie smiled once more. "You're right, Sebastian. No doubt about it."

Sebastian smiled back at his master. "Do you want to sleep here or in the room? I see you are very sleepy."

"Here, please." Levie said as he stretched out on the sofa.

"Well." Sebastian stood up and bowed to Levie. "Good evening Miss."

Levie's voice was slightly weak. "Good evening, Sebastian."

Flash update! Yaa~! I'm coming again! Although the review is a bit.. I continue to update. Hehehe.. after all, I'm not looking for reviews, I made this story to make my imagination explode about Sebastian who is well, soooo charming! Kyaaa~~! I love him!

Erm, well, before you read this story, I want to explain about the background change. In chapter 1, I explained in this fanfiction , Levie lives in an apartment. But considering it feels like the setting doesn't fit this chapter . So I changed the background to a pith house! Uh, plot, deng! Hehe.. of course, I will edit the first chapter later. I just want to explain to readers who (probably) have been following this story from the first unedited chapter .

Oh yes, there is another addition from me. It's true, this FF is really semi-M.. But I still don't feel comfortable with M. I don't have any intention of making a scene with Sebastian and Levie who... err.. if you know what I mean . Unfortunately, there is no TM rate, right? If there is, I'll use that one. Hehe..

Chapter 3: Charming Butler

" Morning, young mistress. Today is a sunny day. Perfect for those of you who are going back to work today." Sebastian said, pouring Blueberry Tea into Levie's cup.

"Hmm." Levie muttered seriously looking at his cell phone , reading the news over the internet. Levie rarely read the newspaper. He then took a sip of his tea slowly.

"I called Harry Accounting and told him you could start work today."

"Hmm." Levie muttered again. Still looking at his cell phone

"Since I think your condition is still not recovered, today I will take you to pick you up."

"Hm." Gumam Levie. Lagi.

Sebastian frowned at his master. Then he smiled and said, "Once upon a time there was a kind old man. He..."

"What do you mean, Sebastian?" cut Levi. He frowned at Sebastian in confusion.

"Ah .. It turns out you listened to me, Miss."

Levi sighed. "Of course I'm listening to you. I'm just.. Lazy to talk."

Sebastian smiled his trademark smile. "Then are you ready to go, Miss?"

"Yes.. Let's go." Levie put down his cup and got up from the chair.

Sebastian crossed his right arm over his chest and bowed. "Yes, my lady."

"It's here, Miss. I'll pick you up at .."

"Three. Just pick me up at three."

Sebastian nodded. "Well."

Levie got out of the car and entered his office. After confirming his employer had entered the office, Sebastian immediately launched his car into the shopping area of Savannah Ally. Bought some groceries for lunch and dinner later.

Arriving at Savannah Ally, Sebastian parked the car and took the notebook Levie had given him this morning and checked the groceries he wanted to buy. He examined one by one line containing the names of food ingredients. Every now and then he crossed out or changed the ingredients for the food that Levie wrote because he thought they were unnecessary or not needed at this time.

Sebastian continued to research until at the end of the line he saw Levie's handwriting which read,

Menswear.

Sebastian frowned. Since when did Miss want to wear men's clothes? Then he saw the additional sentence beside the sentence.

Buy clothes for yourself. The clothes of the century. Don't buy that kind of tailcoat. But a tuxedo is fine too.

Sebastian smiled. He then took Levie's old type of cellphone that was given to him this morning (even though Sebastian initially refused. After all, Sebastian would come if Levie called him). He then dialed the only number in his phone book. Levi's number.

"Hello?" Levie's voice came from the other side.

"You're so kind." Sebastian said, matter-of-factly.

"I've always been good." Levie PD said.

"Really? Then, thank you, young mistress . I will give you a present in return."

"Gift? What gift?" asked Levie curiously.

"Something special and secret." Sebastian said in a perverted tone.

"Ck. It's up to you. As long as it's not a gift related to your lewd nature, lewd devil." Levie sneered.

Sebastian tertawa kecil. "As you wish, young mistress."

" Good . Bye, Sebastian." Levie hung up the phone.

"Now." Sebastian got out of the car. He smoothed his tailcoat. " Time to shop. "

"Sebastian.. What is this?" asked Levie, in front of his office. He had been picked up by Sebastian who was already wearing the "clothes of the century". A black Levi's t-shirt and jacket complete with black skinny jeans with a black glove on his left hand to cover the contract.

Sebastian rolled his eyes. Acting plain. "What is it, Miss?"

"That's..." Levie pointed to a car full of plastic bags filled with fruit, cooking ingredients, and several bags of clothes that filled the back seat.

"What did you pay for it?! I'm not sure the money I gave you would be enough to buy all this!" Cerocos Levie.

"Ah, take it easy, Miss." Sebastian smiled sweetly. "The money that Miss gave is still a lot left, really."

"Then? Where did all this stuff come from? Don't tell me you.." Levie immediately imagined a fierce, grumpy demon and asked the shops for goods.

Sebastian laughed at Levie's expression. "No, no, Miss. I didn't even do anything."

"Huh? How come?"

"Well.. The owners of the shops who gave me these items initially called me. And when I turned and smiled at them, they immediately gave these items to me." Sebastian said casually.

Levie gaped at that. From the story, it was clear they gave the items because they were fascinated by him. Maybe this includes the crime of blackmail too, in another sense..

"Miss.. Can we go home now? I think it's getting crowded here."

Levie looked around and was surprised. Sebastian was right. People who were mostly women surrounded Levie and Sebastian. There's no need to guess why they got together. Levie faintly heard someone say "Is he an artist? So handsome.." ( well, if I met Sebastian on a city street like that, I'd say that too.. LOL. xD)

Levie flinched when someone touched his shoulder. And when he turned his head, he found a mischievous grin from Merry, his co-worker and several other co-workers. Joe, Vicky, Rose, and Edward.

"Who is he? Your boyfriend? Why didn't you tell us, huh?" Merry cerocos straight away.

"Eh.. No.. You're wrong.. It's not what you think.." Levie tried to explain.

"Wow, congratulations, Levie." Joe said.

"Aiihh.. he's so damn sexy! How dare you to not tell me 'bout this sexy guy, Levie!" jerit Vicky, yang memang menyukai "sejenis"nya.

"Rose didn't expect you to have a new boyfriend, Levie.. Rose is so happy." Rose said. With a faint smile that could hardly be called a smile.

Edward menyahut dengan cengiran mesum. "So, what have you done with that guy, huh?"

Levi 's speechless . Don't know what to say. Suddenly Sebastian grabbed his arm and pulled him into the car.

"Sebas.."

"Let's go home, Miss." Sebastian smiled. "Later, the tea I have prepared will be cold, young mistress ."

"Tch." Levi snorted. So what is he worried about tea? Devil bastard.

"So how is it, Miss?" Sebastian asked as he poured tea into Levie's cup who was enjoying Sebastian's 'gift'. Sebastian's Special Gateau Chocolate .

"What do you mean by that?" Levie glanced at Sebastian.

"Well.. About our relationship. How would you explain it."

Levi clicked his tongue. He's right. It cannot be hidden forever. There was no way he would stay silent and run away constantly if asked such a question.

"I don't know. I don't know what to tell them either." Levie massaged his now throbbing head.

"Miss.." Sebastian said in his soft and deep voice. "I have an idea."

Sebastian approached Levie from behind. His hand touched Levie's shoulder gently. He brought his face close to Levi's head. Levie's warm breath was clearly felt. His hand slowly stroked Levie's shoulder and moved to Levie's cheek and rubbed it gently. He then brought his lips to Levi's ear.

"How about you say we're really lovers?" whispered Sebastian.

Levi gulped. Unlucky. Man.. Uh, this devil..

"Not a bad idea. But, no, thanks. "

" I see ." Sebastian said while still not distancing himself from Levie. In fact he was now wrapping his arm around Levie's neck.

"Sebastian.." Levie asked hoarsely.

"Yes?" Sebastian sighed.

"Can you not get rid of that perverted nature of yours? It's disgusting. " Levie said flatly.

Sebastian then took his hands and face away from Levie. "I'm sorry, Miss." He bent down.

"Remember." Levie turned to Sebastian and signaled him to come closer. He then brought his right hand to Sebastian's forehead and flicked his white forehead. Sebastian widened his eyes, looking at Levie who looked at him coldly. "You're just a butler . Don't do that again. This is an order!"

Sebastian bowed with an unreadable face. "Yes, my lady."

Levie clasped his hands looking at Sebastian who was washing the dishes after his dinner. The burly body was being so seriously washed that he (probably) didn't notice Levie staring at him almost unblinkingly.

Levie thought, after he had flicked her earlier, Sebastian never spoke to him when he didn't have to. Well , that's actually good. Considering he was only a butler , but Levie felt strange about this silence. And that's kind of weird for him, considering he's actually used to... silence.

His eyes wandered for a moment as his brain suddenly recalled the silence. Then he glanced at the laundry and saw that Sebastian was no longer there.

W-so fast.. Levie thought.

Levie then looked around and couldn't find the tall, sturdy figure anywhere.

"Sebastian." Call Levi. He didn't come. Not even answering.

"Sebastian!" called Levie again, louder. Okay, now he's starting to panic. Was the demon mad at him? Which means.. He's going to eat his soul right now?! Hell no, he still doesn't want to die!

"Sebastian!" Levie got up from his dining table chair and walked out of the dining room into the living room. There isn't any. Maybe on the second floor!

Levie rushed up the stairs and headed straight for Sebastian's room which was next to his. He opened the door.. Uh, the door is locked?

"Damn it. At this time why is the door locked?!" Levie remembered when Sebastian had told him not to enter his room carelessly. But he's the master and the owner of this house. Can't you enter the room?

Feeling his efforts were in vain, Levie chose to leave. Who knew he was out there? Levie rushed to the front door and opened it. And he found the figure he was looking for was standing with his back to him wearing a thick black jacket. His hands were tucked into his jacket pockets. Her straight black hair swayed in the night breeze. His cold smile as cold as the night adds to its own charm.

Levie felt his heart pounding. Why? Even though he had been able to handle Sebastian's charm and responded coldly. Why..

"Se.." Levie tried to call Sebastian. For some reason his breath hitched. The words stuck in his throat. His heart was still beating for some reason. He froze in place. He looked at Sebastian who was still standing as if enjoying the night breeze.

Sebastian suddenly glanced to his right and ran towards it. Levi flinched. Then chase Sebastian who is now in the right corner of the garden of his house. And then Sebastian...

"You are very beautiful." Sebastian said. "Your beautiful and slender body also looks lithe it really amazes me. How can there be a creature as beautiful as you?"

Levi was silent. Gaze.

"Ooh.. Let me hug your beautiful body. Let me touch every inch of your body."

"Se-Sebastian..?" tanya Levie gugup. "I.. tu.. KUCING, kan?"

But Sebastian didn't seem to hear. He still continued to praise the cat he was hugging. "Smooth fur, sharp and beautiful claws. Shining eyes. Ooh.. Beautiful you."

Levie's legs felt weak. She was completely speechless to Sebastian now. He didn't know what to do.

"Ah, young mistress . Why are you sitting there?" Sebastian asked. Who finally noticed Levie's presence.

"You... like cats?" Levie asked weakly, pointing at the cat.

"Oh, this?" Sebastian said as he looked at the cat in his arms. "Yes. I love it. This beautiful creature.." Sebastian's face turned red. Levie stared at him even more. Sebastian.. blushing in front of the cat?

Levie was getting weaker. While the white cat with brown and black patterns looks a little confused.

"Nona.."

"Hmm?" mumbled Levie unenthusiastically.

"Can I bring him in? He seems cold.

Levie looked at Sebastian for a moment. Then he took a deep breath. " Whatever . Oh yeah, I called you. Why didn't you come, or at least answer my call?"

"Oh that. Because I don't think Miss is in a pinch." Sebastian smiled calmly.

Levie's facial muscles tightened. He glared at Sebastian. Then he snorted. "Tsk, never mind, I want to sleep." Levie said as he tried to stand up, but because he was still weak, he fell.

"Miss!" Sebastian walked over to Levie. The cat was still in his arms.

"I'm fine." Levi said. Unlucky. I worried about him earlier.. No, my life. But he even said not to insist and even made out with the cat? And why am I so weak?

Sebastian held Levie's hand, helping him to his feet. He felt Levie's hand that was already very cold.

"Please hold this cat first." Sebastian said as he handed the cat over to Levie who was already standing. Then he took off his jacket and put it on Levie. "You're cold. Come on in. I'll make you some hot tea. Oh yes, where's the cat. Let me bring it."

Levie looked at Sebastian for a moment. Then stepped ahead of Sebastian while still holding the cat.

"I don't want to. Leave me alone. This cat looks cold. Even though it's cold, I'm still warmer than you, Sebastian."

Sebastian's eyes narrowed. He then laughed a little. " As you wish, young mistress ." He then walked after Levie.

Arriving at the front door..

"But just so you know. I can give you warmth too. like a human."

"It's enough, there's no need to continue your words. I already know where your words are going." Levie said bluntly, leading Sebastian into the house.

"Come on, Miss. Don't be like that." Seduce Sebastian.

"Enough, enough! Don't talk like that again! You perverted demon!"

"I'm just a butler, Miss."

"Arrrgghh!" cried Levie in annoyance.

"Nona? Ada apa?"

"Alright, just close the door!"

"Baik, Nona."

The door is closed.

This was a fucking treat, not just the review but the liveblog posts. Past the half-joking ep 1 coverage, the guy legitimately gets everything right- absolutely everything- to the point where you begin to think he's cheating... but I don't think he was, for the following two reasons:

- he doesn't pick up on the lolpony motive - he doesn't pick up on shkanon in the slightest

If he had read ahead I'd expect he would either include these in the solution like "me, I did this, I thought this up based on the reading" or he would have played coy... instead we have the perfect image of an attentive reader of the sort Ryukishi seems to say he wants who gets all the mechanical solutions correct right out the bat without even considering the insane (and insanely retarded) subtext that's supposedly so incredibly vital to said solutions. The closest he gets to an issue is the first ep first twilight and Shannon's missing body/faked death, where he does hit on the actual solution (no body is present) but discards it for being too insane (and insanely retarded)- that everyone lying to Battler (and I guess George too) for no apparent reason when there's massively bigger issues at hand is absurd (and absurdly reta- i'll stop). Kinda funny that doesn't seem to come up for other events that center around lying, but he does focus more on the things that actually are known to have happened rather than trying to justify the "fantasy" scenes. Which is what Ryu says you totally shouldn't do, because reasons. And yet this guy did it and won. Whoops. Incidentally, I don't think it ever really was properly declared that everyone in the shed was dead. We get "no body double tricks" and "identities of the unidentifiable corpses are guaranteed", which... tell us nothing. How do you define body double tricks, or rather what do you define as not being such? Identities are guaranteed to be what? And there's no claim that any of the apparent corpses aren't just actually alive and playing dead, in which case neither statement would even apply. I'd invoke ep 5/6's "call something a corpse that's not a corpse" bit, but that likely wasn't even thought of at the time. So instead of Shkanon's required complete lack of corspe, having Shannon lying in the back, maybe under some junk to make it harder to verify her state and cover her breathing, is a very easy solution. The blogwriter's alternative bludgeon, that Shannon was already dead and "Beatrice" impersonated her meaning "Shannon" dodges all death checks, not only allows for all solutions to work just about as well as they do canonically if not better, but is similar to something that was widely theorised as a result of the love duel in ep 6, where Shannon and Kanon face off before each game, and possibly one dies and the other impersonates them (because perpetual Shkanon is ludicrously improbable unless it's more like Shmion in the first place, but single-person Shkanon only on the days of the conference is at least somewhat workable). In fact, so much more time is spent on Kanon's existence and name and whatnot in ep 6 that I think it's easier to pull this with Shannon than Kanon, despite the latter being etc etc I suppose it could even work as a metaphorical death where Shannon threw away her identity before the games to commit to her acts; even though it's similar to lolpersonalitydeath it feels less cheap somehow. Actually, this also works if "Shannon" is long-dead- like if she's the servant who fell down the stairs, or jumping ahead to ep 7 if Yasu's imaginary Shannon friend was a real servant who died at some point (and Yasu just got the same servant name afterwards because idgaf). He also skims over how Shannon hid the evidence of her suicide in Natsuhi's room that one time, which is funny because Ryu made such a big deal about it in that one interview. But, like, no one cares. ... Actually, if real-Shannon's death was very recent, putting her corpse in the shed in ep 1 wouldn't result in a misidentification. It's Shannon's corpse and they identify it as Shannon. It would be mistaking the imposter Shannon's corpse for the real Shannon's that would be a mistake.

The final review supports some things I'd suspected but hadn't had enough knowledge of mystery lit lore to confirm (yay confirmation bias). Ryu wanted to make A Statement because A Statement is a cool thing to make, but had no idea what the heck he was talking about. The note about the year is interesting- at a glance you'd think it's just like making it look like a fake sequel to Higurashi by setting it a few years after that, but it's actually the year before one of the defining works of Umineko's (attempted) metagenre, which is... interesting. Without that knowledge it looks like Ryukishi is just being naive about what's come before him in his writing, but that detail makes it seem like he's deliberately avoiding acknowledging his... inspirations. It rather underlines how shallow his reading of it is if just acknowledging that similar works exist would undermine what he's doing. Actually, it's a pretty similar situation to the outfit designs, where he somehow simultaneously acts like no one could find anything wrong with how he's doing things (Devilish Pretty...) and plays coy about it such that no one is ever properly credited (Devilish Pretty is a joke and doesn't count) as if he wants it to not be noticed because he knows he'd get flack for it. As in, he wants it to be seen so he can be praised for it, but also not seen so he won't get his much-deserved dressing down for his bullshit. Please see it with love everyone.

My only quibble is that he aims to position Ryu's rants on the goats and heart as an actual point of view Ryu is attempting to put forth- I don't think that's the case at all. I think it's much more likely that the story had gone so far off the rails (if those rails even existed to begin with) that there was nothing left to do but throw together some boilerplate nonsense that would hit at some emotional resonance while tying in parts of the story and giving the appearance of concluding them... something that would be very easy to defend just by the audience being emotionally attached to it. After all, the phrase of "intellectual rapist" didn't start out as an insult to be thrown at the audience but as a signal that Erika was tew kewl!! in the process of activating those memberberries and inducing waifufags to simp and coom.

It's very funny to me that he brings up the concept of the answer being the answer only by the hammer of canon in the ep 3 review when that's one of the many criticisms I've seen leveraged at Shkanon, that it feels like it was only the solution because Ryu said so. Ditto the whole Kyrie culprit debacle.

Masamune Act 2 Plot Summary

Hey friends, good to see y'all again.

So, over on twitter, a friend (@snow-and-saltea) was wanting to get back into IkeSen after some time away and I had just finished giving some thoughts on the routes that I have been playing and they were curious about Masa's second act since I had gushed about it so much. So, I decided to gather my thoughts about it to give a plot summary for them. Took a day and wrote it up, saw that I had basically gushed for about 2100 words, and thought it was going to be a nightmare to repost to twitter, so I sent them a google doc of it instead.

Then, got to thinking about it and decided that I could put this on tumblr as well. Kind of like a call back to when I used to do an essay series reviewing various routes of whatever otome I was playing.

This essay will cover the basics of Masamune's Act 2, with some references to his Romantic route end and his Eternal End. Since it is a plot summary, there are going to be spoilers for a good portion of the route. I don't cover every single detail that went on in the route, I'm just covering some basic stuff along with some analysis. Should also say that as of this writing, I haven't done his Tragic End yet, so that will not be included in this summary. Maybe another time when I'm feeling braver about it.

Anyway, onto the summary!

Masa's Act 2, like what I'm assuming the rest of the Act 2s are gonna be like, follows the events following their Eternal End.

For Masa's Eternal End in particular, his is focused more on exploring his want to be seen as strong all the time and why he has a hard time showing and or talking about his weakness and insecurities. It's kind of touched upon in his Romantic ending too when he would say super sweet things to MC when he thought she was fully asleep. Not that he wouldn't say romantic and sweet things to her when she was awake, he just didn't want her seeing him in an uncool state if he said the super-super sweet things.

With his Eternal End, there was a look into his past via MC talking to his old mentor and to his top vassal and confidant Kojuro. They tell the story of a quiet, sickly little boy that Masa was before Kojuro cut his eye out, about how he hated how weak and powerless he felt, his not-so-great relationship with his family, plus the trauma brought on from having to kill his dad. Basically, Masa bottles up a lot of negativity about himself which isn't a good thing to do, but Eternal End seemed to hint he's slowly opening up to the idea that sharing that shameful side of himself to MC isn't such a bad thing, that she doesn't care about his flaws, she loves him for all of his parts.

Act 2, well, it really brings his 'shameful side' out in full view and puts it to the test. How much can Masa handle before his 'cool' persona starts to fall away?

MC and Masa are returning to Azuchi after they hear about it being attacked, only for her to see that her Traveler's Guide is now blank. Not only that, but MC is starting to experience some memory loss, in particular about things she used to know from the future. The first instance is her forgetting how to make ruffles, which is troubling because she loves all things sewing, so for her to forget something like that makes both of them feel ill at ease. Not that Masa let's her see that, she's scared so he does his best to soothe her, wifey’s needs come first. Can’t have her being scared, it’s a ‘not good’ in Masa’s book. Once she's asleep (a la his romantic route’s ending), he expresses his worries to her and how he's gonna find some way to restore her memories back to her.

But the trouble doesn't end there. Both him and Ieyasu receive word from their respective provinces that they were being attacked, so they couldn't stay and help Nobu with the growing threat of Motonari and Kicho. Yasu takes off to Mikawa while Masa goes back to Oshu with MC in tow. From there, her amnesia gets progressively worse as she forgets more things about the future. She can't remember her family, when or where she was born, what certain things are called, and it starts to freak her out. Masa tries his best to help her remember things she's told him about the future, like about different kinds of foods or about cars and roller coasters, but her memory is still deteriorating.

Then, we're given one painful reminder from his main route after another. Masa had taken her on a scouting mission but they were ambushed. She tries her best to stay hidden but a lit gun rolls her way. She might have forgotten about all her future sewing knowledge, but she still remembers how to use a gun from Mitsuhide's teachings in the main route. She sees Masa about to get hit, calls to him to get down, and fires the gun. She misses and hits a tree, but still, she fired the gun at a person!

Because of an incident in his Main route, Masa got hurt because of her inability to fire on a guy that would have most certainly killed her if Masa hadn't come along. And there was a big to-do about when he stopped her from firing on Kenshin, that she didn't have to destroy herself and her beliefs to save him by killing someone. That she should leave the reckless dangerous stuff to him and how much he would hate himself if she lost her smile by having to destroy her beliefs.

Because of these previous incidents, we know that MC is against hurting another, no matter the cost to herself. But, because of this memory loss, MC did something that was against her moral code (attempting to kill someone to save Masa) and it disturbed both of them. She's shaken when she realizes what she had almost done, and, once again, Masa tries his best to comfort her, but if this memory loss thing didn't bother him before, it was definitely bothering him now.

Following that incident, MC loses her ability to make expressions. She can't smile or cry, her face now like that of a doll. Masa tries to make the best of it by having her do expressive gestures instead, like her hands on her face for surprise, or to give him hugs when she wants to say she loves him.

MC also notices that her body is slower to respond, like not being able to move her hand a certain way. As you'd expect, this comes back to bite them both in the ass.

Now, Kenshin comes after him for some reason (his reasoning is not really explained well, I'm just assuming that the plot needed for him to come do something, so Kenshin's here to cause chaos) but Kicho interferes with their fight, raining arrows on Masa's tropes. Masa tries to pull MC up with him so they can get away, but her body refuses to move, thanks to her new symptom of temporary paralysis, first hinted at before when she lost her ability to express emotions on her face. Masa gets hit by a poison arrow when MC suddenly can move again. They have to get away before the poison takes hold. So, they jump onto his horse and try to escape but guess who comes to stop them.

Kicho, the bastard.

MC pleads with him to move, but he refuses. Masa is getting weaker and more delirious from the poison, so MC has to think fast about what to do. Masa wants to fight Kicho but MC thinks it's dumb for him to fight in his increasingly weakening state.

So, she does possibly the worst thing she can do to Masamune.

She ties his hands to his horse, jumps down, and sends that horse off from the battlefield as he screams after her, having to watch in horror as Kicho comes up behind her and slices her back open. Masa basically gets to watch his loved ones die in front of him all over again. Fun times!

But! MC isn't dead! Matter of fact, she crawls her way to Kicho and gets him to save her life, which, surprisingly, he does! Wild.

MC's in and out of consciousness, sometimes talking to Kicho, sometimes having fever dreams about Masa. Kicho eventually leaves to do his dastardly schemes. The next person that finds her is Kanetsugu, Kenshin's top vassal. He had met with MC and Masa in a previous joint investigation of Kicho. And he stays with MC because leaving a defenseless, injured woman to die is ridiculous. He patches her up and listens as she laments her horrible actions, of putting Masa in the position of reliving his worst trauma and how much she wants to apologize for doing him so, so dirty.

Because Kanetsugu is a good guy, he gives her a proposition. If she's still sick and hurting in the morning, he'd take her to the nearest village with a doctor and she could go about her way afterwards. But, if she was feeling well enough to travel, he'll take her as close as he can to Masa's base camp, to see if he's still alive. And, true to his word, he takes her as close as he can.

Meanwhile, back with Masa, he drinks as much water as he can to nullify the poison. You can hear the defeat in his voice as he says 'it's always poison, isn't it, Kojuro?' (I don't think it's explicitly stated in IkeSen, but Masa never had a good relationship with his family, his mother in particular. She tried to poison him so his younger brother could take the position of clan head, according to wikipedia. It's more explored in SLBP's version of Masa (thus how I knew about it), but we're here for IkeSen Masa, so that discussion will have to happen another time) He does his own lamenting, that finding and keep love was never meant for someone like him, already losing two people he cared about, that he was too weak and powerless to protect them.

But, he soon finds his resolve again. He wants to find MC again, dead or alive, and live his life so she and others after her can smile in the future. Still weakened from the poison, but determined, he decides to face Kenshin again head-on (because he still wants to fight Masa, and if he won't fight or is dead, he's gonna take the territory he left behind, it's still kinda dumb), then he was gonna find Kicho and stop him from continuing to ruin the future his beloved came from.

I'm gonna first talk about the Passionate route as that's the one I completed first and then I’ll talk about his Blissful route.

Masa and Kenshin try to face off once again, but they're interrupted again (poor Kenshin, he doesn't get much to do this route). This time it's Motonari who comes to ruin everything and set things on fire.

Literally, everything is on fire. Not even kidding. Fire’s everywhere, man.

MC breaks away from Kanetsugu's group to see Masa, still weak but alive, as he's fighting off Motonari in the flames. Because MC is dumb and still very much injured herself, she tries to go and help Masa, but again, fighting going on, plus, again, everything's on fire!

Motonari finally realizes that maybe setting things on fire wasn't a good idea so he runs off while Masa, still weak and now bleeding and probably a little singed, tries to get away from the flames with MC supporting him, two dumb, weak, stumbling idiots in love. When help from the Oda arrives (they had been tracking Motonari and Kicho and now all our friends are together again, yay!) they both collapse then and there to the ground, clinging to each other.

MC wakes up again back in Azuchi, being attended by Ieyasu, with Masa nearby, still unconscious. He explains that while he would have preferred to treat them apart, he knew one or the other would try to get up and find the other and decided he didn't want the headache of them reopening wounds by moving too much, so he kept them together in close enough beds. He updates MC about the current situation and leaves the two of them to their rest. Masa wakes and they talk and apologize. Little bit of kissing too but not much because they both still can't move very well, but that's okay, at least they're together again. Yay!

For the Blissful route, meant as a Romantic Ending equivalent, is much lighter in tone and pacing than its other half. MC and Kanetsugu receive word that Masa and Kenshin are going to fight once more, so the two of them make their way to the battlefield as close as they can, in the rain.

As the two dragons are about to face off, both are suddenly struck by lightning.

No, not even kidding. Both Masa and Kenshin were knocked unconscious by a force of nature so they can’t fight to the death.

I laughed for a good five minutes while trying to process that scene.

Kanetsugu and MC part ways as the unconscious commanders are taken off the field. Kanetsugu lends her his horse, saying she’s smart and that she’ll return to him when MC releases her. Kanetsugu himself rides with one of his underlings as MC sets off to reach the Date base camp. When she arrives, her energy finally leaves her and she collapses. Understandable as she’s still injured, just rode at full speed both to witness Maa and Kenshin be struck by lightning, all in the rain, then having to ride back at full speed to reach Masa, collapsing is kind of expected.

When MC wakes up again, she’s lying next to the unconscious Masa, him soon waking up too. Cue sweet kissing times because ‘omg, I thought you were dead!’ reunion time. After their make-up session, Masa starts to open up to MC, about how he feels like a failure for failing to protect her and his territory. MC says that it doesn’t matter if he isn’t strong enough to do those things, she loves him because she loves all of him, not for how strong or cool he is. She’s glad he’s finally letting her in, to see this weak part of himself that he’s always kept hidden from everyone.

A few days pass (Masa’s aggressors that weren’t Kicho and Motonari take care of themselves, so now they’re free to return to Azuchi and help out Nobu and the others) and they meet up with Kenshin and Kanetsugu again. They make a temporary alliance so they can stop Motonari and Kicho once and for all. Kenshin is good when he finds out that MC is having similar symptoms that Sasuke has, and that stopping Kicho and co. will make him better, so that’s his driving force for joining this alliance. On the ride to Azuchi, Masa, now thanks to his opening up to MC, starts to show more of his negative emotions openly, mainly when MC and Kanetsugu talk about how her wound is doing and about the time they spent together in the hut while Kanetsugu cared for her. Masa, like Mitsuhide did back in his route, shows his jealousy and protectiveness by growling at Kanetsugu. Like he is about most things, he’s not impressed. He baits Masa for his lack of strength in protecting his beloved and MC has to calm them both down before the alliance breaks up because of Masa’s jealousy.

The gang meets up in Azuchi with Shingen and Yoshimoto already there. Masa and MC catch everyone up on current events (how many times both of them got injured in some fashion, much to the horror of everyone about MC’s own injuries; about how she’s from the future and that if they don’t do something about Kicho and Motonari, the future that MC and Sasuke come from will cease to exist, that she comes from the future, all that fun stuff.) They come up with a battle plan and take on their enemies, defeat them, and the future is restored. With that final battle, MC finally regains her smile, Masa is stunned into silence to see that smile after so long, cuteness abounds once again.

In conclusion, if I picked a reason why I loved this route so much (outside of Masa himself because I was already loving him before) it's the character growth shown here. Masa learns that it's okay that he's not as powerful and strong as he projects himself to be, that he can still protect his loved ones despite his weaknesses. I love the throwbacks to his Main route and to show that decisions have consequences, like if the scene from the Main route of MC not taking the shot was flipped on its head and she actually did take a shot at someone, and what that kind of thought process brought out of her. Kanetsugu was a sweet bean despite his sharp tongue. Got to see Nobu and Shingen bickering which was delightful (as well as Yukimura having a 'gross, I have to work with *him???*' moment with Mitsuhide. Yoshimoto also shows up to Ieyasu's aid so he can get the Imagawa clan off his back (because that's who was pestering him) and Yasu can get back to aiding the Oda (along with the lines 'I thought you were dead. Are you here so I can finish off the job that Nobunaga didn't?').

So, yeah, that’s my thoughts on Masa’s Act 2. I do have a bias as he’s my numero dos when it comes to favorite ikesen baes, but I think this is hopefully a good example of how good this route was. The writing was bumped up a notch, there was plenty of drama, character growth, I just love it so much.

🍵Japanese Reactions☕ Kuromyu 2021

Dear everyone, I received overwhelmingly many questions about Japanese audience reactions, so here you go!

Methodology:

For this post I logged out from Twitter to avoid any bias because of my own user algorithm, and just simply searched the term “kuromyu” (生執事) , and selected “latest tweets”. As you can see, all posts have the word 生執事 in bold, meaning that was my search term. There are a LOT of reactions, I can’t possibly discuss them all. What I did was just search at any random point of time, and take every other comment. I censored the usernames of the commenter to protect some (ceremonial) level of privacy.

I watched the Kuromyu costume rehearsal and cried, this is not it，，I think it might be better to go to Osaka [performance] without expecting too much I shouldn’t expect the Kuromyu of until last time

Honestly no matter how often I watch [the musical] this time’s Kuromyu is fantastic... as someone who knows the energy of the original comics, I really enjoyed it...

In Kuromyu Violet and Chesslock were the real thing

Like Violet’s way of walking being so slothful it was like the real thing, and the rapping of Chesslock in the cricket scene was cool

The reception of this time’s Kuromyu is entirely polarised, and indeed [this production] has a very different taste than the ones until now so I also understand the people who criticise it, but I think that’s fine.

There’s so much thought going on now I have seen the PV of Kuromyu. Eh? Because he [probably Konishi (Ciel)] has roots in Tennis [Probably prince of Tennis] once he holds the cricket it just looks like he’s swinging a tennis racket.

Ah ーSomehow a lot of memories just popped up tears really are welling up... even though my deep-seated grudge has now passed, my obsession for Kuromyu surfaced, and it felt like it got beaten to a pulp by its big brother...

My heart is recovering through the Kuromyu DVD but the big brother is still the big brother... sob...sob (the dirty wailing of an otaku)

TLN: Big brother here means something’s superiour or better.

It became this production that made me think: Never mind the actors but is it the problem of the makers? Erm. I think it’s a waste. Is it because it’s the footage of the first day performance?

I don’t have the feeling that it’s not that, but that it somehow became cheaper? Is a really strong thought I got from this performance. With this line-up [of cast/staff] it should have been able to create the high quality of Kuromyu, but the impression is that it was a mess.

I finished watching kuromyu. Erm... somehow... it was a theatre production that strongly reminded me of the first Lycoris (the cheapness of the set), felt like they tried to create the feeling of🎾but failed, and tried to do something trendy (🎤) but then the production lost the sense of unity.

Well Mr. Tate’s [Tateishi] Sebas was good, and Undertaker’s acting was good (make up...)

I’ve watched the stream of Kuromyu countless times and gotten used to the songs, and even though I miss the old Kuromyu, maybe it’s not so bad that somebody who can’t let go is rewatching something countless times. If next time they will do the Cult Arc or the Witch Arc I’d be pursuing it. Honestly I want them to stage Lycoris again ←

Kuromyu was this place where I got stimulated by Yuta’s TOHO quality, Ms. AKANE [Madam Red] and Ms. Son [Akisono, Frances]’s Takarazuka quality. The synergy of everything, the original manga’s story, actors, music, directing all were so perfectly done in the past three productions they sure have become a tremendous bar. Once again Yuta, thank you for playing Sebas for us for three times 🥺✨

Kuromyu really was too fun, I’m in trouble

It might be quite unsatisfying for people who only watch Kuromyus that are like Imperial Theatre grand musicals, but I think it’s good that it’s a bit like the Kuromyus of the beginning of before when they adapted the manga arcs

I watched Kuromyu and had fun 😊

I cried, I laughed, it was amazing anyway!

It was the first time watching a musical for me but I think I’ve been sucked into it...

Shall I buy the DVD, I’m indecisive 🌀🤔💭

Now I’ve seen the PV of Kuromyu I don’t think it’s worth going at all... Even in the PV the vibe of 2.5D was ridiculously strong...

My friend went to watch Kuromyu and gave me the review: “I’ve seen all sorts of 2.5, why did they do this for Black Butler. It’s trivial.” I’ve only seen the PV so I won’t say anything, and I really get what I’m refraining from saying. But Mr. Kuma once tweeted the descriptions of Black Butler, I guess it’s fine that the Boarding School Arc feels like this 🤔

They did say that the staff along [with the cast] would entirely be renewed, but I feel like they’re actively trying to shake off the fans of Kuromyu until now I’m a bit sad but I guess I won’t be watching [Kuromyus] anymore... I feel like But I am buying the stream I’ll think about it after I’ve bought it...

Anyway about Kuromyu, my mom said she wanted to watch it too so I watched it again with her yesterday, and she sure had a lot to say 😶 My father pulled this weird face of “what is this even” and I had to see him off halfway 😑 I thought about buying the stream of the final performance, but I guess I don’t need a second viewing. I don’t feel like watching the archive either. I really liked the Kuromyu of until now, my shock is too big.

At the beginning [of the musical] we looked back on Lycoris, Circus and Luxury Liner... kinda like some sort of recap, but I thought “huh?”... now I just want to watch that. I used to like Kuromyu, I really have trouble accepting it this time it’s painful.

But honestly when talking about Kuromyu it’s the Sebas with the superb voice who sung about the dynamic with the little lord full of emotion and built the world view, and for better or for worse the world view of Kuroshitsuji is maintained through Sebaciel, the songs, the directing of Sebaciel, but what happened there. Whether you should watch it or not. The past 3 productions were masterpieces、、、

But Sebas is not Mr. Furukawa, Ciel is not Reo-kun and even Mr. Izumi’s [role] of Undertaker was unfortunately changed, this is the new Kuromyu huh...

I watched the stream of the first performance.

I liked the songs so I checked, and I knew it.

This time has a lot of laughing factors, and I thought it was good it had a fresh cast.

I didn’t expect the cricket scene to be taken that far. I thought it was Tenimyu.

Kuromyu, this time be it the story, script, directing or casting, I thought: “it’s more enjoyable to take up this [musical] while temporarily erasing the memories of until now ～🎶”, and I watched the theatre piece without looking back to the past productions, and that was the right decision To the people who came to love Kuromyu of until now, it’s safer to watch it while temporarily erasing the memories.

Did Kuromyu turn into Tenimyu half way?! I thought,

and the Elite Musical → 2.5D Musical transformation I also felt

Konishibocchan being cutesy was cute, and the P4′s desperate faces resonated all went by in a flash

I went to Kuromyu

I went into it knowing it’d surely be something different from the past productions so it indeed turned out to be so

There were parts that made me go “erm the script....” and also this part that made me go “was it really necessary to make Undertaker descend into that dream in Act 1 just because you wanted to give him stage time??”

I went into 2 shocks gradually

Sebas doesn’t sing He only sings properly at the very beginning of the beginning Even though he’s Sebas There’s no ending solo Even though he’s Sebas

You’re the ♪ah~a~a~ number-one main character though!! That’s why this one!!! Is the N・E・W production--!!!!

I watched the Kuromyu stream!

It was TOTALLY 2.5D~❕❕😁It was also a school setting and the Tenimyu vibes were strong (laughs)

It’s a bit of a shame that Ciel isn’t played by a child actor anymore, but because he has more stage time than Sebas has this time I caccept it.

Sebas and Ciel’s visuals are also good ~ ☺️

It’d be even cooler if they increased the fight scenes with Sebas though.

Today I saw the “first viewing of Kuromyu” of my dreams 🥀😆 Regardless of what I could say Sebastian’s beauty is from beginning to end spellbinding ☺️ My eyes were very happy. moreover, the songs and the killing were also AMAZING 😍 my eyes were nailed to Sebastian. I want to watch it again 💕☺️ I wish that the performances will go without a hitch until the final performance ❕

I was so happy to see the recap of the past productions

I really liked the Circus Arc (original comics), and even though it was comedy it really dived into the darkness! That was the story I also didn’t expect to see the Luxury Liner Arc So Undertaker, for real... for

Up to the last time there weren’t that many songs in total, but there were songs like I shall become your pawn and sword and the contract that made me go BATHUMP--- I have to rewatch this number!!! It’s a shame that this time there were no songs like that.

#Kuromyu

Calling it the Prince of Cricket is too accurate 😂 They sang and danced so much, the youthfulness was bouncing off it. What stamina they have. #Kuromyu

What’s different from the last time is the strong 2.5D vibe...... Until now the ages [of the characters] were fairly faithful [to canon] and in a good way there was no 2.5D-ness and I could just enjoy it as a proper theatre piece This time both the casting including the music had a strong 2.5D vibe for better or for worse #Kuromyu

Very personally! Matsushita’s Sebas was “heavy as the evil of evil and beautiful”, and Furukawa’s Sebas was “evil, strong and unapproachable and beautiful and gorgeous”, and Tateishi’s was “light hearted and beautiful and a florid kind of evil”!! (My vocabulary is failing me) All Sebastians have a different aura about them it’s fantastic!!! #Kuromyu

I’ve seen a lot of Tenimyu and A-stage [Mankai A3] but it’s not like I wanted to see that in Kuromyu... What I wanted to see was Kuromyu...

I watched the video of the Kuromyu PV? but it’s impossible. Watching the PV [I thought] children should be played by children... and as I watched their interaction it’s not the character building I had in mind... and there’s no wound on the vice principal’s forehead. I planned to watch the stream of the final performance, but I’m hesitant about spending more money to watch that... If I can’t accept Ciel and Sebastian I can’t watch this, that’s just me...

Now I’ve read the reviews of Kuromyu all are saying it went back to 2.5D, and I think that it’s not worth going after all. It’s probably because the Kuromyus until now far surpassed the quality of 2.5D... I guess it’s fine if one were to go for the cast, but I really loved the Kuromyu of until now.

Acid BLOOD Cherry [review]

The album is called a “spin-off” one, meaning – each melody and lyrics were written by different music, yasu is only using his vocal and promoting these tracks with his project name. All of the musicians working on these songs were musically involved with yasu's career since he first started, so for about 20 years. And because none of the songs were created by yasu, it was fairly difficult to be objective and not dislike the style of the album in general, but naturally it had to be different from his other releases.

Acid BLOOD Cherry is quite heavy, we won't find any soothing ballads on this release. But without a doubt these songs will rock the venues at the upcoming tour. Surprisingly most of the lyrics are in English, which is a huge change for yasu. On album sometimes the words blend in and it's hard to understand what he's singing about, except maybe for slower tracks, like crimson. I wonder how it would sound at lives, since yasu tends to mess up his own lyrics, and singing in English doesn't come so natural to him. But it can be curious, if he had seriously improved his language skills.

My thoughts on each track:

1) THE RUINER

Melody and lyrics were done by RYO of defspiral. The song is quite in ABC style, perhaps thanks to YUKI (DUSTAR-3) being on guitar. The track focuses on the rhythm section a lot, as RYO is responsible for bass guitar. The chorus lets yasu hit high notes and it fits his voice a lot. In the background you can hear strings and these also blend in nicely. Great opening song and surely it will be quite memorable at live performances.

2) BAD BLOOD

The song promoting this album. It was composed by Tenji Nagano of everset, a musician whom yasu had known since Janne indie days. Nagano is joining ABC for this tour as bassist. In the song we can hear him growling. Chorus is very catchy and will get into your head very easily. Perhaps the use of electric effects is unusual for ABC, but it's interesting and doesn't bother the listener used to clear guitar sound. At first the song may come as way too heavy, but imagine the head banging at lives with yasu!

3) BEAST

Now that's an interesting song. My first impression was that yasu's vocal sounds just like in Janne era there. Janne fans will surely understand what I mean. Makes one wish there was kiyo's keys on the back. It's yet another song written by RYO of defspiral. Again, the track focuses on bass a lot, but there's never too much great bass lines. It's very easy to get into it, proving RYO's style goes well with yasu's idea of the sound!

4) crimson

One of my personal favourites. At first the listener notices it's the song that sticks out the most. Melody and lyrics were written by Minoru Kojima of THE MAD CAPSULE MARKETS; ABC fans may remember him from the Dream Cup Live 2011, where he joined yasu on stage. Aside of Kojima, two musicians from THE BONEZ / Pay money to my pain joined him on this track. The song reminds of grunge tracks and because it's seemingly slower than the others, yasu's English is quite good in this one. Also, yasu's voice is very low throughout the whole song, something we didn't experience in a long time.

5) BLACK OUT

First of two tracks composed of HIRO. Knowing this guitarist, I had high expectations and HIRO didn't disappoint me at all. The song has this perfect dose of pathos and tension to make a great hit. It kind of reminds me of 90s songs. It's also nice to hear yasu singing almost entirely in Japanese on this track. I can already imagine wonderful staging and passion in yasu's voice at lives. The song is very much in ABC style, but that was expected of the so-called dream team – HIRO, SHUSE and Jun-ji.

6) Sweet dEvil

Song written by SHUSE. Dream team is there again, supporting our favourite bassist to work with yasu. Of course the track focuses on the rhythm section a lot. The only confusing part could be the rap of KOTO we can hear in the back, but despite my worries it goes so well with yasu's voice. The chorus is so catchy you won't be able to get it out of your head. I would say the song provides no surprises in terms of composition, but it's a great rock piece!

7) Forbidden Bells

This track was quite a challenge for the younger musician ever to work with yasu – Leda of FAR EAST DIZAIN / ex DELUHI. What's so challenging about this song? The fact that Leda plays all of the instruments himself. But it only proves that he is incredibly talented musician, since the song is simply wonderful. It's definitely very visual kei style, but in a positive way – you could easily imagine any vocalist participating in the song, but yasu's skills make Leda's composition truly shine. The breathtaking chorus makes you wish there was a music video for this track. The bells in the back also remind of 90s vk songs, but that's the charm of this track. And, at last – Leda's magnificent guitar solo. This song is a must-listen-to!

8) RIDE into the FATE

I try hard to refrain myself from using strong words like “hate”, but I really dislike this song. It was written by Tenji Nagano from everset. Despite creating other great song for the album, this one is just… not as good as the others. It reminds me of 90s western pop songs, with lots of electronic effects and rock sound. It would make a perfect summer hit, but not an ABC best song. I can see why it would be catchy for many people and that probably people will have a lot of fun at lives, but I can officially say it's my least favourite song in the entire Acid Black Cherry discography.

9) KEDAMONO

Second track composed by HIRO. The person responsible for the lyrics was AKIHIDE from BREAKERZ, who worked with yasu for a few years. I expected this duo to make a great piece and again – I wasn't mistaken. The song is mainly in Japanese. We have the great guitar parts here, as well as the guitar song. But the biggest highlight in my opinion is the chorus! yasu does miracles with his voice there. The melody suits it so much, all thanks to great lyrics. There fans can hear the difference between yasu singing in English and Japanese, by how easily the words flow and what a great effect it gives off. Personally I'm glad yasu asked HIRO to write a piece for him, since they have a great chemistry.

10) Guilty Cry

Rarely I complain about tracks being too long, but this one definitely could have been shorter. It was composed by the guitarist tatsuo of everset. There's some power team here – IKUO (Rayflower / BULL ZEICHEN 88) on bass, Aoyama Hideaki (BABYMETAL) on drums, tatsuo on guitar. In result the track is very heavy, with choir back vocals, and yasu had to kind of fight for attention. The keybord at the beginning and the end of the track give off quite ominous vibe. It's a great metal track, but the length makes it a bit tiring to listen to.

Overall, the album is much better than I've expected it to be. My only complaint would be the lack of ballads, since I love these the most, but – perhaps on yasu's another release! I hope this spin-off collaboration has inspired yasu to create more wonderful music, it was definitely a very interesting experience for him, as well as it is for the listeners now.

Yasu wouldn’t come up with anything to change.

Chieko meanwhile would probably want to change something about her figure, in her teen-years at least. She’ll grow more confident as an adult.

Both of them would probably be urged to create accounts on all of the most important social media websites by Hideyoshi...

Yasu would mainly use Instagram & tumblr though. His account is just full of nature aesthetic posts (photos he took in the forest). They come with the occasional deep quote as well. Yasu himself is rarely seen on any of his photos.

Chieko would also use tumblr the most. Her blog would be a mix of reblogged aesthetics (some of them photos by Yasu, out of solidarity. But also a lot of light/dark academia) and reviews on all the books she read during this month. Occasionally she will also reblog some history-memes. I could also imagine her using twitter rather frequently. Usually to complain or ramble a little about random stuff. The only platform she’d post pictures of herself on is Instagram, which is also locked in her case, but she does not go there too often.

66. What nicknames do others call them by?

Yasu is called “Big Brother” by a lot of the younger residents at Polar Star.

Chieko is called “Chi-chan” by Yasu ever since they’re tiny. Shigeo also occasionally calls her “Marui-darling”.

67. What’s an outrageous story about them nobody believes?

The Polar Star Quartett once snuck on a party for that was strictly for upperclassmen. Hideyoshi, Daisuke and Chieko were all drunk when deciding on this. Yasu followed along to prevent the worst.

Chieko’s most embarrassed by it.

84. What’s one thing they like that they don’t want anyone to know about?

For Yasu, it’s his hobby of writing poems or actual song texts whenever feelings overwhelm him. The only one who is allowed to get a glimpse on them once in a while is Chieko but even with her, he’s shy about it.

For Chieko it’s Shigeo Eizan, lol her secret enjoyment of Otome Games.

KSB’s debut album review - Ichi

ABOUT THE ARTIST

So what the heck is Kyoto Samurai Boys?

Kyoto Samurai Boys, or KSB for short, a new entertainment concept borne in the city of Kyoto, Japan, features 18 young men whose age ranges from 19 to 29 (as of the time of this writing).

KSB introduces an overarching theme in their performance: A group of young men find out about a Virtual Reality Game, in which they take part. Inside the game, they are transformed into modern looking Samurai boys, and take down enemies with their swords.

This storyline is featured in stage performance which has no spoken lines and are dance and music packed.

The group released their debut album, 「壱」, Ichi, or "One", on 4th March 2020. The album is available for purchase on iTunes, as well as available for streaming on Spotify.

i had gotten to know about KSB only a few months prior, and due to the lack of information about them in English, it has been a long journey trying to understand the concept. This is not surprising, because to be honest, not all Japanese artists actually care about furthering their international reach right off the bat, and that is perfectly understandable. They are more focused on their local market. In the seiyuu (voice actors/actresses) business as well, in general, the actors/actresses are internationally known because the anime they voice in are internationally known first and then awareness about them will result from it, hardly because they themselves make content that get internationally recognised by fans, though of course exceptions can exist. This is, again, hardly surprising, as it would be the same with movie actors/actresses too.

As far as i could gather, this group has a wide range of performance forms, from silent drama stage acting, to dancing and singing. A few of their members started out as band members and rappers, others are actors, and some are theater performers, acrobatic atheletes, and former idols. Needless to say, their talents vary widely. Some have a good singing voice, some dance very well, some have good stage presence, and so on and so forth. Each of them shines in their own way and together the producers most likely want to draw a picture as such. Members who might still be lacking in certain areas have their room to grow, which is something i learnt the Japanese market enjoys seeing.

ABOUT THE ALBUM

To understand the album a bit better, let us understand how KSB's performances are usually structured. At most 9 members will be performing together on stage or in a single song in this album at any point of time (the exception being the STAGE FES2019-2010, where all members perform all 3 songs together, you can watch the promo video on Youtube). On stage, the performances are divided into 2 parts, named 起 (Ki - awakening) and 承 (Sho - acceptance).

Just as their performance, KSB's music album also has the Samurai feels via their use of traditional string instruments mixed in with modern electronic synthetic sounds, giving an interesting blend of the ancient and the new.

In singing, the 2 versions are named 義(Gi) and 勇(Yuu). For each song, members are divided into these 2 groups, each with 9 members, giving rise to 2 versions each.

However, there is one exception: the last song, 夢と星 has 3 versions instead of 2. This has got to do with the internal official "teams" the KSB members are divided into.

The 3 teams, each with 6 members, are 椿(Tsubaki-Camellia, theme colour red), 桔梗(Kikyo, Chinese bellflower, theme colour purple), and 若葉(Wakaba, young leaves, theme colour green).

i will describe my “verdict” on each track below

Samurai Brotherhood

The energy <3

This track is a bold statement to the world announcing the arrival of the Samurai Boys. It features rap and singing feats by all members, divided into 2 groups Gi and Yuu. Both tracks are excellent. If i had to pick one as a favourite, Gi has better dynamics, but both groups delivered well.

虹を描いて/Niji wo egaite (Draw a rainbow)

This track talks about the boys' dreams and the fact that though they each shines in their own unique ways, they can still complement each other well. This track has a fast, joyful beat, but the lyrics also betray a sense of uncertainty, which i am really appreciative of.

Both versions are well done. i have no complaints here.

Players

Damn the rap is good.

This track is another declaration to the virtual game world that the boys are ready to take on the challenges awaiting ahead.

Although i still have to admit Yuu version has more stable vocals, especially the high ends, Gi’s rapping sounds more fluid and graceful. i really like R-NE’s rap voice here.

This track is another bold one just like Samurai Brotherhood, with a mix of rapping and singing. It still manages to be very melodic and i've got to hand it to the Boys for managing to survive such high notes. i particularly like the high background ad lib towards the last chorus.

咲螺-サクラ (Sakura)

This track fits the members' vocals well, with a nice mix of modern and traditional instruments. This is a love story that is reminiscent of the old times, with excellently penned sceneries and the mysterious use of the word "Sakura" itself: at times it feels like the cherry blossom is being described, others, it feels as if the narrator is speaking to a certain beloved lady.

This is the track that both versions are very well done as well, each offering a slightly different air. This track also is one of those which have been choreographed, and from what i see i like the dance as much as the track itself.

夢と星/ Yume to Hoshi/ Dreams and Stars

One of my absolute favourite of the whole album, Tsubaki's had the best chemistry in my opinion. Each sentence, each low and high notes, feel just perfect for me personally. The allocations of the lines to the members work so well, and the harmonics fit in just right. i seriously have no complaint, though it might just be my Tsubaki bias.

Kikyo's has really pleasant vibrato and they can hit the high notes. The control can be be better, timing sometimes off, but their emotions can be felt quite deeply. This version has a manly vibe.

Wakaba: my guess is that most of their members' voices are more suitable for rapping than ballads. Their voice colour is more rough, and the connections between notes are a bit stiff, which prevents some of the deeper emotions from being freely let out. However, the members' strong vocals do offer interesting dynamics at certain high notes and that creates a unique emotional chord in the listeners. With more practice on this genre, it can become really nice, though that is totally up to the team and the producers whether they will want to go with that route. Wakaba's, compared to the more stable Tsubaki's, feels really raw, and honest.

One other thing to note is Rayshy’s voice, one of Wakaba and KSB’s strongest vocals, could possibly be less than suitable for this slow and emotional track, as he performs very well as a solo singer but his voice sounds too weighty in this mix.

This track also has a nice mix of modern and traditional feels, with electronic drums and gently sounding string and wind instruments.

i'd say this track is much harder on some of the members, because of the slow tempo and emotional lyrics.

CONCLUSION

The Gi/Yuu tracks offer a safe space for all members to show off their vocals, since it is more of a choir and the pace is fast, allowing all of them to go all out with their youthful lungs. Samurai Brotherhood and Players give the rappers perfect chances to shine. These tracks are also fast paced, which all of the members can do well in as far as i am concerned at least. 虹を描いて has no rapping, but it didn’t throw the rappers off. The lyrics are joyful though at times poignant, and it showcases the boys’ determination to pursue their dreams as a team, even though each of them has their own colour - i thought the metaphor was really nicely done. 咲螺 was one of the most charming tracks of the album, the catchy melody sticks in your mind in a strangely romantic way.

However, when it comes to the ballad, 夢と星, Tsubaki members take the cake. Not only did each of them deliver their lines well, overall they mix together harmoniously. In fact, Tsubaki’s version of the song was the first one i listened to from the album and was the track that ended up drawing me to KSB as an idol group. i would say individually, Kikyo’s is the strongest, but as a package, Tsubaki’s balance really hits the mark.

It is noteworthy that within KSB, the 5 members of the rap-and-vocals group StyleElements are scattered around all 3 teams. In terms of singing, i’d say Kikyo (notable vocals: BISKE, RANMA) and Wakaba (notable vocals: Rayshy) have individually great singer while Tsubaki’s members are not particularly strong, but as a team, Tsubaki’s members manage to create a great harmony together and no one outshines anyone else.

Since this album is in CD form, you don't see videos of them performing these tracks (yet). However, videos of them performing live some of the tracks such as Samurai Brotherhood, Players, Sakura (partial, as seen from the STAGE FES blu-ray and DVDs as well as the promo video), do exist. As far as dancing go, so far, i am most impressed with Tsubaki's Fukuzawa Yuu (team lead), Wakaba's Kazuaki Yasue (team lead) and Yamagata Yuuki (number 69), though i also feel a lot of other members can do very advanced moves. Tsubaki's Yuuki Takesako also deserves honourable mention for his impressive acrobat skills, which is most present in the stage performance instead of the singing ones.
