I have a lot of feelings about parch and killing.

#c: motw #cha: parch #but most of them I can’t discuss here #however I can say parch is far less pissed at the kids than he is. Cedar’s parents. Beowulf. Yaz’s family. #He didn’t like arguing with them and he knows now that he’s cooled off that it won’t help #but it’s like trying to explain things to his kids if the consequences were not what they have for dinner and instead sapient lives #and also very significantly #them. like it’s not easy to explain but to parch the stakes are these kids #their ability to ever exist in a world beyond the one they do now #they never had a choice or a chance #will was wolf napped and now can’t face her family #cedar was raised by crazy people #yaz was also raised by crazy people AND has some prophecy like at least they loved her but that doesn’t make this ok #parch really wasn’t trying to call any of them bad people. they’re good kids in bad situations. #in that respect everything he says about whittling club is true #but boy does it upset him beyond words how they live in a world of not just necessary but normalized and comfortable violence
