Tumblr media
You sighed as you flipped another page on your book, a pink highlighter on your hand and a bunch of loose pages resting in your lap. Were you studying on a friday night again? Yes. Sure, you had promised to yourself that this kind of nerdy behaviour would be left behind in high school, but who could blame you? It's not like you had anything else to do and you actually enjoyed studying.
- Oh, absolutely not. - a familiar voice with a thick accent sounded behing you and you smiled.
- Hey, Yelena. - you turned your head towards the voice, seeing the blonde girl climbing out the window. - Nice to see you're home again. And still unable to use the door.
- I already told you, sometimes I need to climb the window so I can make sure that no one else can climb the window. It is science. Just like your book. - she said, taking off her shoes and coat, her cheeks red from the cold weather. - Now, what are you doing reading a book? When I left, a whole week ago, you were doing that exact same thing.
- Well, I have to. It’s called studying. And if it helps, it was a different book last week. - you answered, watching as the blonde went straight for the kitchen. - But I wanna know about you. Your super secret mission went well? Where were you, after all? Now you can tell me, right?
- Bolivia. And yes, it went well. No one blew me up and it was not for lack of trying. - she said, frowning at the refrigerator. - Now, tell me, Y/N, this studying of yours does not require eating? There’s nothing in here.
- I was planning on ordering something later and I didn’t know you were coming home today. - you said, finally closing the book and resting your head against the armchair. - What do you mean they were trying to blow you up? Are you okay?
- Peachy. - Yelena said, sitting on the sofa. - I wasn’t even shot this time. It’s a big win.
- I don’t think I’ll ever get used to this. - you glanced at her with your eyes a little widened. You still remembered when, a year ago, Yelena showed up holding your announcement and asking if you were the one looking for a roommate. At the time, you didn’t knew you were getting a best friend and a giant headache all in one person. - You know, every time you leave I get worried sick.
- That is very sweet, Y/N Y/L/N, but you don’t have to worry. I am the best, so yeah, no danger here. - she smiled and you held back a laugh. Yelena could be so unintentionally conceited sometimes. - Now, will you please stop with the books, order some pizza and watch a movie with me? I missed you a lot.
- Own, Lena, I missed you too! - your heart melted at the russian’s words, smiling at her. - I’ll just bring this stuff to my room and then we can watch anything you’d like, okay?
She agreed with her head and you piled up all your books, papers and pens and carried them to your room, leaving it all on your desk. Fishing a blanket out of your closet, you picked up your phone and went back to the living room, sitting comfortably in the armchair again as you dialed the number of the pizza place you guys always ordered from.
- The pizza will be here in 40 minutes! - you yelled to make sure Yelena would hear you and went back to your phone, waiting for the girl to come back.
A few minutes later, she showed up in sweatpants and a My Little Pony white t-shirt, her hair wet and carrying a sweet lavender smell. She used your shampoo, but you didn’t really care, just watching as she practically fell onto the couch, resting her head against the pillows.
- So, what are we watching? - you asked, toying with the remote.
- Can we watch the one with the sirens again? You know, the one with the song that was stuck in my head for like a month? - she asked with big puppy eyes.
- Barbie A Mermaid Tale? - you asked with a laugh. Yelena was a big Barbie fan, but she specifically loved this one. - I think we’ve seen this at least five times.
- Please? It’s my favorite! - she pleaded, holding her hands together. - I love the evil fish.
- Okay, okay. But I’ll choose the next one.
- YES! - she exclaimed in pure delight, making you laugh again. If there was something you loved about Yelena, was her almost childlike joy about the little things in life. It was adorable.
You were about to press play when she cleared her throat, making you look in her direction only to find her already staring at you, brows furrowed.
- What? - you asked, a little confused.
- Aren’t you forgetting something? - she asked, rolling her eyes at your absolutely lack of perception. - Cuddling, Y/N Y/L/N, you’re forgetting the most important part of a movie marathon. Get your ass on this couch right now.
You couldn’t help but smile as you got up, laying beside the blonde on the couch and throwing your blanket over the two of you. It wasn’t long until Yelena’s arm was around your waist and the russian’s cheek was resting against your head. You hummed in contentment, feeling relaxed and warm and safe, like you always were with her.
- Now you can start. - she said simply as she placed a kiss against your forehead, making your heart melt all over again.
- It’s nice to have you home. - you said softly, grabbing the blonde’s hand and kissing her knuckles. - You know I love you, right?
- Yeah, you big softie, I love you too. - she said rolling her eyes as she kissed your cheek. - Now shush, my movie is starting.
You just smiled, too enthralled in the feeling of being in Yelena’s arms. She was home now, and it was all that mattered. After all, she was your home.

Imagine Valentina sending Yelena to kill you Natasha's former protégé
Tumblr media
A Few Hours Before Time Travel
"Here I want you to have this" Natasha said tossing something in your direction.
You were scrolling absentmindedly through your phone watching old news videos to take your mind. Off of everything that was going on barely paying attention to what she was saying. So instead of catching the item it hit you right in the face making you jump up and drop your phone on the table.
"Hey a heads up would've been nice Nat" you sputtered grasping the soft clothing item, and pulling it off your face. It was nice forest green vest mixed with some black and a lot of pockets. While vests weren't usually part of her outfit for fighting. This one you recognized from the first battle with Thanos, and you didn't think anything of it then. But that was a pretty rough battle and if she managed to not only hold onto it, but also made sure to repair any damages it sustained. Then the vest had to be special to her, and now that peaked your curiosity.
"I did give you one you were too busy playing on your phone" She shot back with a playful smile.
"Well its not like I have a big mission to prepare for or anything. Because you won't let me go time traveling with the rest of the Avengers, or did you forget?"
Natasha let out a sigh as a small frown took over her face.
This was an argument the two of you had multiple times in the past couple of days. Since Tony returned to the Compound and agreed to help figure out how to conquer the Quantum Realm, and when Clint was able to travel back in time successfully. The argument only got worse and the only thing that made you back down was when Tony and Steve stood by Natasha on her decision. There was no way you were going to be able to sneak your way onto the mission with all three of them watching you so closely.
You stood up ready to walk away not wanting to hear her excuses for excluding you again. On your way out you tossed the vest in the chair. You didn't even make it five steps before she reached you grabbing your shoulder, and swinging you around. Her other hand taking your chin in a gentle but firm hold. In order to prevent you from turning your head away.
"Y/N I know you're still upset and nothing is going to change that, but this isn't your fight-"
You cut her off at that with a fury in your eyes. "How is it not my fight I was there seven years ago. When he snapped his fingers and wiped out half of the population. I lost Peter he was my only real friend that knew what all of this was like."
"You shouldn't have been there in the first place neither of you should've been there. Why do you think Tony agreed with me? Gosh y/n it's a miracle Thanos didn't get you too." Natasha told you her eyes tearing up at the end. Her hand released your chin to caress your cheek, and then her other hand came up to graze the other one. "You're the only family I have left y/n, and just the thought of you not making it kills me inside. I need you to stay here and stay safe. There will be other wars for you to fight y/n and one day I won't be here to stop you. So please for now let me do this."
All you could was nod and wrap your arms around her in a tight hug. She returned it without hesitation kissing the top of your head. For a while the two of you just stayed like that. Until Steve announced on the intercom it was almost time for the mission, and to meet him in the main hall in about fifteen minutes.
Natasha pulled away to grab the vest out of the chair, and unzipped it before holding it out for your arms. You slipped them in letting her put it on.
"See a perfect fit like I said before I want you to have this. It means a lot to me and if I don't come back it's yours."
"Nat don't talk like that you're going to be fine but yeah I'll keep it safe for you. I'll never take it off until it's time to return it to its rightful owner." You promised fake saluting her
"Well if everything go as planned you'll be meeting her in a day or so." she said giving you a wink.
You raised an eyebrow trying to figure out what she meant by that, but she tugging on your arm demanding that you escort her to the platform. You figured it was a question that would be answered later.
Late never came and even though you never found out who the original owner was. You kept your promise to hold onto the vest for her never letting it out of your sight, and keeping it in perfect condition.
Present Day
"Rhodey are you sure this is legal?" You whispered crawling through the air ducts to a government owned building.
"No probably not but it's the only way to know if the intel Sam got from those terrorist is good or not" he replied back.
"We're Avengers why not just ask them?"
"Y/N since when is government ever honest with anyone about anything" Rhodey pointed out.
"Okay I get it but still if I get caught you guys better break me out the way Rogers did for them." You warned coming to a stop peeking through the cracks to make sure it was the right room.
"Oh please you were trained by the best" was the last thing he said. Before the comms were cut and you went dark. Just in case the security system was trying to pick up on the radio frequency.
You dropped down into the room landing in a crouch. The lights were off and the room was windowless which meant total darkness.
"Oh no not another poser" an unfamiliar voice said from somewhere in the shadows of the room.
You stood up looking around hoping whoever it was would make some sort of movement. Giving you an idea where they were, but whoever it was stayed very still. "Come on you got to admit the landing was pretty clean."
The stranger took the bait. "Yeah but was it really necessary, or do you just like showing off?"
It sounded the person was on your right. You pulled a throwing knife from the holster on your thigh. With a flick of your wrist the knife went flying in that direction. Your ears were able to pick up on some minimal moving and a thunk sound. The knife had struck the wall instead meaning your enemy moved.
"Not bad you might actually make this a bit entertaining for me" The person said with a small chuckle.
"Please walk away now and I won't bruise your ego too bad." You shot back circling the room when they started moving again.
"You sound pretty confident for someone who can't even see." The person was so close to now they had practically whispered in your ear.
You felt their breath on your neck but it was too late a blow to the jaw snapped your head to the side, and then a blow to the gut had you on your knees. You heard a small whistling sound and dropped back onto the floor rolling away. Hoping there was enough distance between you and her. It had to be a woman from her voice, and maybe it was the way she moved. You got back too your feet and raised your arms ready to block any attack.
"And you're pretty confident for a cheater." You countered closing your eyes to focus extra hard on the any sudden sounds.
She snorted "please there is no such thing as a fair fight in this world today. How do I know you don't have powers?"
"Don't you think I would've used them by now." Your ears strained to hear anything and finally there was a small squealing sound. You went low and threw your leg out in a sweeping motion. Your move landed because a second later there was a thud and a grunt of pain.
"What was that about me being at a disadvantage" You taunted.
"Oh now you're dead" were her last words and then she was back on her feet and on you in under five seconds. This time she didn't care if you could hear or feel her coming. She definitely had on some night vision goggles or something. Because for every hit you managed to block, she would immediately follow it up with one you didn't see coming. Which in the long run meant you were taking a freaking beating with only maybe one or two of your hits landing. She had no problem brushing them off refusing to give you an inch in this fight. A harsh kick to the gut knocked you off your feet and back into a door. Your back collided with the doorknob making you cry out in pain.
The vest you had on did somehow absorb some of the blow. Thank heavens for that or you might be down for the count, but it didn't seem like it really mattered. A clicking sound filled the darkness letting you know she had pulled a gun.
"Okay this was fun but I have other contracts to fulfill, and its obvious you're no match for me. You know usually I wouldn't do this but any last words?" She asked
You gave her a small nod eyes drifting up slowly. Right now the only thing you cared about was getting out alive. "How does it feel with the lights on?" In a last act of desperation you scrambled for the wall feeling around for a light switch. Maybe your question caught her off the guard, or maybe she just wanted to see what your plan was. Either way your hand was able to find the switch and flip it on. The room was thrown into light revealing your assailant who was dressed in all black including a black mask. She let out a cry of pain and shook her head dropping the gun. Her hands grasped desperately at the mask to pull it off.
You took the opportunity to stumble too your feet and yank the door open. But before you could even take one step towards freedom a hand grabbed the back of your suit. She pulled you back sticking out a leg causing to trip and fall backwards. You tried to get back up but a knee planted in your stomach kept your body pinned.
"Neat trick but this is over and even though I should-" Her voice trailed off as she loomed over you gun pointed at your head. Her eyes squinted as she observed something about you.
This finally gave you a chance to get a good look at your opponent. She was a pretty blonde with her hair braided back in the same style as yours, and green eyes. The look on her face was pretty relaxed even in the heat of the battle, but the longer she stared at you. The more distressed she seemed to become.
"Um are you just going to stare at me or..." You left the question hanging in the air. When she moved the gun away from your head placing it on the floor. One of her hands reached out to take a fistful of the vest.
"Where did you get this?" She asked her voice barely a whisper.
"My mentor gave it to me and I've been keeping it safe for her. Just until I can find the original owner" You answered. Not really knowing why you were telling the whole story. Maybe it was the way she was looking at it like she was seeing a ghost.
"Who was your mentor?"
"Natasha Romanoff you know the Black Widow" You told her. The next thing you knew her knee was gone from your chest, and she had pulled you to your feet.
"You knew my sister" she choked out.
In that moment it was like a distant memory was unlocked as you thought back to a picture. You found on Nat's nightstand when you were cleaning out her room in the Compound. It was her with the blonde girl standing in front of you right now. On the back of the picture was a single name. Your name felt around on the vest until you found the right pocket. She had released you by now giving you enough space, and waiting patiently to see what you were doing.
Eventually you did find the right pocket and dug the contents of it out. A necklace with an arrow charm and a crumpled picture but when it was straightened out. It was shown to be the same picture from the night stand.
You flipped it around to the back. "Are you Yelena?" I think I've been looking for you."
Yelena let out a sob reaching out for the picture her hand hovered over it for a second. Until you gave too her and went to remove the vest.
Yelena held up a hand "no you can keep it I'm sorry I didn't know who you were. Natasha never mentioned having a student or anything."
You shook your head shrugging out of the vest. "I promised her I would return it so let me do it please. Its okay I think she intended on introducing us to each other after saving the world."
Yelena clutched the vest to her chest with tears falling from her eyes. You were doing your best to not to fall apart with her but the memory of Natasha was back now and in full effect. Without a word Yelena pulled you into her embrace allowing you to bury your face in your shoulder and sob.
"Its okay sestra I'll protect you now" she said.
"No we'll protect each other" you insisted.
"I don't know you might need some more training before you can protect me" she joked with a teary laugh.
"I was holding back"
"Sure"

Maybe tonight we don't have to pretend | Yelena Belova
Tumblr media
Pairing: Yelena Belova x Reader
Prompt: “Maybe tonight we don't have to pretend?"
Masterlist | requests: closed | words: 1000
You and Yelena lived the picture-perfect life. You were married and were the proud owners of a beautiful home in a fifties style neighborhood located in a small town called Victory. You had moved there just a couple of months ago, but luckily you were quickly welcomed to the tightknit town with open arms.
The tightknit neighborhood part was something neither one of you was used to. Each week the neighbors would get together. Most times in the weekends, there would be dinners, pool parties and backyard get togethers. Sometimes you even had get togethers in the evenings where you’d all get a drink together to celebrate another work day being over.
Though the perfect married couple was all a facade. It was simply an undercover mission the two of you had been sent on. Yelena wasn’t your wife, she was your best friend and had been for many years. So, living with her and spending so much time with her didn’t feel weird at all. You had been sent on this mission to gather information on this peculiar neighborhood. Over the past couple of months many of 911 calls have been made and every time the police arrived, nothing seemed to be wrong. The police had started to grow weary and decided that they wanted to investigate. That’s what they hired the two of you for.
The neighborhood parties were the perfect way to gather information. Each week the party would be at a different neighbor’s house, giving you the opportunity to stake out each house on the street. To the neighbors you were Nancy and Susan Chambers, high school sweethearts that wanted to move to a smaller town. After an evening full of chatter and server snacks, you and Yelena called it a night. You said your goodnights to all of your neighbors and made your way back to your home hand in hand. Back home you dropped the roles of Nancy and Susan and called each other by your real names again.
Back behind closed doors you change into some less fancy clothing. Since you also had to dress the part, there was none of your own clothing to be found in the house. So, most times in the evenings you would opt for your pajama’s since they were the closest thing to your regular clothing that you had here. You sat down on the couch and turned on the tv while Yelena called the person that hired you for this mission, updating them on what had been said at the latest party. Which wasn’t much, but all intel was smart to call through, there might be a connection the two of you had missed that would be clearer in the bigger picture that they had sketched.
Yelena sat down next to you on the couch. You caught her looking at you, returning her look with a smile you asked her “What’s up?”. You can tell she’s nervous by the way she is fidgeting with her wedding ring. You pause the show you put on and wait patiently for her to be ready to tell you what’s going on in her mind. She takes a deep breath before speaking up, “Maybe tonight we don’t have to pretend?”
You are shocked for a moment, not sure if she’s saying what you think she is. So, you decide on asking her for clarification. “Not pretend to what?” At your question Yelena only seems to get more nervous. “The part where we eh.” She stops to take another deep breath. “I do not want to pretend to be with you or to pretend to love you. I want you to know how much I truly love you and be together for real. Y/n, I am in love with you. I was long before this mission but pretending to be in a relationship has really opened my eyes on the fact that I don’t want to live my life hiding the fact that I want to be with you. This time has been so great, and I would just really like to kiss you for real and not for show.”
Hearing the way Yelena feels towards you makes your heart race. A smile creeps onto your face, growing bigger at every sentence Yelena speaks. “I love you too and I really want to kiss you for real as well.”
Yelena wastes no time crashing her lips onto yours. The kisses you had shared to make your story believable had all been quick pecks on the lips or cheek. They had already made you feel warm inside, even though at that time they were just for show. They had been nothing compared to the passionate making out that you were doing now. You felt like your heart was beating outside of your chest.
A knock on your interrupts your moment. With a sigh you get up and investigate, but not before you kiss Yelena on her forehead. Wanting to savor the moment as long as possible. You open the door to one of your neighbors, “Hi Nancy, I just wanted to check on you and Susan since you left the party so soon.” You smile politely at her. “Oh yes we’re doing fine, Mary. Thank you for checking in, I had a long day at the office, which is why I wanted to go to bed early tonight.” You say revealing your pajama’s to her.
After asking Mary about her night you said, “Alright, have a goodnight Mary. And thanks again for checking on us!” You closed the door and quickly moved back to Yelena. She was waiting for you with open arms. You smiled and cuddled up to her, after you sat down. “Do you want to continue the show you were watching?” Yelena asks you, moving her eyes between you and the tv. “Hm, only if I get to keep laying in your arms.” Yelena smiles down at you and pecks your lips, “You’ve got yourself a deal, my darling.”

She by Dodie
Tumblr media
Summary: On 4th of July, Yelena finds herself celebrating the weird holiday at the Barton Family farm in Missouri. She can’t understand this feeling deep within her chest whenever she looks at you. Maybe her dreams of having a family may come true and they may start with you.
Warnings: Mention of the Red room
Word count: 1.8k
Yelena found herself on the porch of the Barton house, looking out towards the yard. Sam was on the grill arguing with Bucky about who knows, Yelena did like to watch as Sam got under Bucky’s skin. They were cute together. Wanda was helping Laurie set up a picnic table, using her magic to put the table cloth on and the plates with silverware. The red of her magic still amazed Yelena and it kept the younger children entertained for hours. Kate and Cooper were messing with a box of fireworks a little to close to a bomb fire while Sarah and Lila were in the house, preparing the rest of the food. Yelena was a little hesitant to accept the invitation to spend 4th of July with the Bartons. It took Kate, Wanda, and finally Natasha to convince her to come. Natasha slipped that you would be there, spending time with your family after school was done. You were who Yelena was watching. You were entertaining Nathaniel, AJ, and Cass with your powers to keep them out of the way of the adults and away from the fire. You could change into any animal and could use those animal’s abilities as your own. Right now you were a squirrel, climbing up and down the three boys making Lucky and Fanny bark and chase after you. Fanny got you pinned to the ground and you changed back, you laughed at the dog’s confused expression. The sound of your laugh caused Yelena to smile.
‘Your starring sestra.’ Natasha said, sitting on the railing. Yelena scuffed, rolling her eyes.
‘Like you haven’t been undressing Wanda all day.’ Natasha shrugged looking at her girlfriend.
‘She looks good.’ Natasha waved at Wanda. The young witch waved back, her cheeks blushing, no doubt reading Natasha’s mind.
‘Disgusting.’ Yelena mumbled, her attention was brought back to you. You were a German Shepard puppy. Nathaniel was holding you as you attacked his face with kisses. He was shirking, moving his head from side to side trying to dodge you. Finally, he put you down on the ground and changed back, whipping the dirt on your hands on your ripped jeans. ‘Am I allowed to look at her like this? After everything I’ve done. She’s just so nice to look at.’ Natasha smiled at her younger sister.
‘Why don’t you tell her how you feel?’ Yelena looked at Natasha with wide eyes.
‘No I’d never say a word.’ You were sitting on the grass with Nathaniel, AJ, and Cass in front of you. You were telling them a story. Yelena couldn’t hear what you were saying but you were energetically talking with your hands. A tightness built in Yelena’s chest. It was a feeling that was constant every time she was around you and it was something she’s never felt before. She never imagined a family of her own one day. For a large part of her life, she believed she would never be able to leave the Red Room. But after she was given the red dust, she was reunited with her sister, and together they took down the Red Room for good -anything is possible. Yelena pointed to her chest. ‘There is an ache but it feels oddly good.’
‘Love, sestra . You found love for the first time of your own free will.’
‘She means everything to me.’ Yelena confessed. She was shocked by the words that so easily left her lips. She looked at her sister, waiting for a rejection. But Natasha had a smile on her face.
‘Tell her,’ Natasha said simply. ‘She is a Barton. She will understand what we’ve been through better than anyone.’ Natasha placed a comforting hand on Yelena’s shoulder and joined her girlfriend at the table.
Just tell her, Yelena thought, shaking her head. As if it was that easy. Yelena believed that every time you stood next to her you could not be more far apart. It was as if Yelena froze when you were close. She was afraid to say the wrong thing, afraid to push you away. She was still learning how to be a ‘normal’ person. It was why she spent so much of her time with Widows that she freed - they understood the struggle of trying to find their footing in a world that they were deprived off.
‘She likes you.’ Yelena jumped from the sound. She spun around seeing Lila, who had her arms crossed and a smirk on her face.
‘It is not good to sneak up on an assassin.’
‘Ex-assassin,’ Lila clarified. ‘Besides, Aunty Nat taught me a lot.’ Lila shrugged like it was no big deal. Yelena cruised in Russian as Lila ran down the steps to join her siblings. She felt someone staring at her, the hairs on her neck were standing up. She glanced around the yard, everyone was busy doing their own thing. Until her eyes landed on you. You were sitting next to Kate, who was talking but your attention wasn’t on the burnette as she was speaking. Yelena’s eyes locked onto yours. You gave her a smile, blushing slightly at being caught, and returned your attention back to Kate. Yelena chuckled, shaking her head.
Yeah, she means everything to me.
*
The problem with it being a holiday and this being your first time home in a while, everyone wanted your attention. Kate took you to the makeshift archery range that Clint built earlier this year. Lila talked your ear off about all the plans she had this summer and a boy she liked in her class. When everyone was eating, your mom nagged you about your plans when the summer was over which caused the entire table to get involved in the conversation. Yelena watched as you tried to disappear into your chair. The sun finally set on the Barton farm and Yelena sat on a blanket, watching Kate, Clint, and Cooper get the firework show ready. You were standing next to Nathaniel, helping him make a s’more. Once the s’more was constructed, you took a bite of it, and handed the rest to your brother. Yelena couldn’t help but wonder what the taste of your lips or how they would feel against hers. Would they taste like a birthday cake from your chap stick? Or story time? Or fall? Yelena almost laughed at how soft she felt because she knew to you she tasted like nothing at all.
You walked over to her, pointing to the empty spot next to her, asking for permission to sit down. Yelena nodded. You sighed as you sat down and handed her a sparkler. You lit yours with a lighter and used yours to light hers.
‘How was your first time celebrating the 4th of July?’ You asked her. All the reasons why her day was great died on her lips.
It was amazing because you were here.
You are the only reason I came.
Please see me how I see you.
‘It’s a weird holiday.’ Yelena said. ‘Was Steve Rogers actually born on July 4th or did they change it when he became Captain America?’ You laughed.
‘No I think he was born on the 4th. His birth certificate is on display at the museum.’ Yelena rolled her eyes. She found that hard to believe.
‘Birth certificates are easy to forge.’
‘That was such a spy thing to say.’ The sparklers had long since gone out but Yelena kept it in her hand, twirling it between her fingers. You watched with fascination.
‘Now without the audience of the entire party, what are your plans once the summer is over?’ Yelena found herself asking. You sighed, leaned your head back, and looked at the stars. Yelena followed your gaze up to the stars. It was an amazing view. The air wasn’t as polluted as major cities and there weren't as many lights to obstruct the view of the stars.
‘I don’t know.’ You finally responded. Yelena almost forgot she asked a question, she became so focused on looking at the stars and listening to the sounds around her. ‘May go back to the city or travel the world. What about you? Any more Widows to save?’ Yelena shook her head.
‘Natasha suggested I take a break and live my life. So I guess I’m listening to her.’
‘What are you going to do?’ You asked. It was Yelena’s turn to sigh as she moved her fingers through the grass. It was wet from the dew but the feeling helped ground her.
‘I’m not sure. I’ve always had a mission, a job, or an order to follow. I don’t know what to do with my life.’ A stretch of silence passed between the both of you. It wasn’t awkward, it was comfortable. Yelena could see that you were biting the inside of your cheek
‘Well,’ you said softly. ‘I could use a travel buddy and my dad may feel better if I was with a trained Black Widow when backpacking around the world.’ For a split second, Yelena wasn’t sure if she heard you correctly.
‘You want me to come with you?’ You nodded, biting your lip
‘Unless you don’t want to’ You stuttered out. ‘I mean you seemed like you weren’t sure what to do. And I like hanging out with you even though we don’t do it often. I think it could be fun. Unless you don’t think it would. So please don’t-
‘I would love to join you.’ Yelena said, cutting you off. Your eyes went wide but you relaxed at her response.
‘Cool.’ You watched the fireworks exploding in the sky but felt Yelena looking at you. ‘Do I have something on my face?’ You asked, laughing. Yelena didn’t say anything right away. She was trying to memorize the way the color from the fireworks lit up your face. The way the fire created shadows. You did have something on your face, a little bit of chocolate from that s’more you helped Nathaniel. But Yelena didn’t care.
‘You are just so nice to look at.’ You looked at Yelena.
‘Lena.’ You say softly.
‘You mean everything to me.’ Yelena said quickly, before losing her nerve. ‘You smell like lemongrass and sleep which makes me feel safe and reminds me of home. It scares me that I could feel that way about someone. And.’ Before she could finish you surged forward connecting your lips with hers. The sudden impact stunned Yelena. As her brain started to register what was going on, she kissed you back, putting her hands on your waist pulling you closer. You tasted like apple juice and peach with a hint of chocolate from the s'more. It was a taste that Yelena knew she was going to be addicted to. Yelena ended the kiss as she needed to breathe and didn’t want to start making out with you in front of your family. She kept your lips inches from hers and she felt your breath on them. Your lips were a little red as you smiled. ‘What’s got you smiling like that?’ Yelena asked. Your smile only grew bigger.
‘Just excited to see the world with you and kiss you while we see it.’ Yelena pulled you under her arm, kissing the top of your head. Oh she was excited too.

Yelena twitches. With the war ongoing beneath their feet, that noise could have been anything.
A gun in the distance, debris hitting the underbelly of the boat, a soldier next door who’s celebrating victory with two left feet. This war had felt eternal. Her eyes flick towards the door that leads out of the room she’s standing in, and she watches it as it remains tightly closed. Nothing comes, nothing goes- nobody moves at the sound of two gunshots. It’s like everybody is immune to the sound of warfare, and she can’t blame them.
Yelena frowns and turns back towards the scene around her. Zeke sits on his knees, steam emerging around his body like a hot meal straight from the oven. Yelena feels her stomach churning- god, she’s hungry. There’s a slight shift in the room as Levi glares down at Eren, displeasure and pain on his face. Wordless, she watches the display before her like the theatre, uncommitted to a side, just happy that the fighting is over for a while. Two soldiers dressed in black stand behind Levi, equal looks of upset on their faces.
Yelena knew that these people loved Eren like family, and she looked back at him, sizing him up, before thinking of you. You’d loved Eren, too. When she first met you, she remembered you looking like you’d put your life on the line for him. She twitches again, looking back at the door. The last time she’d seen you, you were preparing to follow the soldiers to hideouts, submerged in the darkness. Since then, you could be anywhere and she wouldn’t know it- not unless the ship landed back on the island, not unless she left the room to go searching for you.
Her mind wanders as the soldiers continue their display. More are in the room now, the steam is lifting in the air as Zeke’s wounds heal. Yelena stands close to him, her eyes trained on the door. Behind it, the soldiers roar, thumping and yelling muffled through the walls. Her body feels clammy suddenly, and her eyes flick over to Levi as he turns his head in the direction of the noise. Nobody seems on edge. She chews her lip- she needs to calm down. You’re fine. You are.
“They’re still making noise?” Levi says, his eyes narrowed. He tsks, shaking his head. “Idiots.”
“They’re celebrating victory,” someone says. Yelena’s not looking at who, she’s still looking at the door.
“Some victory,” Levi replies.
Yelena stares for so long at the door that her eyes burn, the noise rising and falling in volume every so often. It doesn’t sound like celebration, not an ordinary celebratory chant, at least. If only she could get a glimpse of the room. She tries to picture what you might be doing in there, and if you’re part of the cheering. She pictures you with your arms wrapped around another soldier, a smile on your face, with little to no injuries. Maybe you’re drinking, maybe you’re laughing, maybe you’re wondering if she’s alright, too–
Jean appears in the window of the door, his face gravely still. He pushes open the door, and Yelena’s eyes fall to two children standing before him. Her heart leaps- everybody knows these children, or at least the people in this room who have changed their allegiance within the last year. Of course, Yelena knows Gabi and Falco, but that doesn’t explain how they got here. Something feels off, and she blinks at them and steals a look at Zeke. He looks equally confused and surprised- alright, so something is definitely off.
“How the hell did they get here?” Levi asks, his tone tense. Judging from the way Zeke looks so shocked, Yelena can tell that a feeling of unease has filled the air. Everybody can feel it.
Yelena focuses her attention on Jean, trying to read the anguish in his face before he speaks. It’s too hard to make any assumptions- there are too many emotions on his face, a permanent tiredness in his eyes. She almost feels bad for him. Almost.
“They killed Lobov-” Yelena doesn’t recognise this name too well, but she’s sure she heard it somewhere. At least it’s not your name, and she relaxes slightly- “and used his gear to get here.” Jean takes a slight pause, as if trying to find the right words. He blinks, gulps, and looks at Levi flatly. “Then this girl took his gun, and she shot Y/N.”
Well, fuck.
Yelena takes one step forward, pausing when Jean looks up at her. He looks guilty, but it’s not as if he’s the one who shot her. Yelena knows that, but the feeling of grief and rage fills her anyway. Her eyes flicker between Jean and Gabi, like she can’t decide who to be more angry at for letting it happen. Expectantly, she looks back at Jean, anticipating his next words.
“It doesn’t seem like she’ll make it…”
She’s heard enough. Yelena abandons her post, moving forward to skirt past Levi and past Jean. Someone calls out her name from behind her, but by the time they can call out to her again, she’s out of the room and headed towards the circle of soldiers on the floor. Her head is spinning, ears ringing. How could this happen?
Yelena notices the red blood on the floor, smeared as the soldiers dragged you to the side. She sees you before you see her, as your eyes are relaxed and closed, a twitch of pain on your face as somebody presses a hand to the hole, keeping the blood from gushing out. A girl with brown hair sits next to you, tears on her face, and blood on her hands. She holds your free hand tightly, moving the hair from your face as sweat lines your hairline. Yelena has only ever seen you at your best, and what she thought could have been your worst back on Paradis. Nothing could have prepared her for ever seeing you this way, bleeding out, gasping at every touch.
She pushes forward, ignoring the looks of disgust as male soldiers pave the way for her to move towards you. It was hard to ignore your relationship with Yelena, even when they didn’t understand why you liked her in the first place. Yelena was hard to read, sneaky, vague with all of her answers. She made people feel uncomfortable, and spoke as if she didn’t even believe her own words. You were kind, and honest, and compassionate- all the things that people like Yelena took for advantage. But you were respected, well-liked- loyal. These soldiers would lay down their lives for you, and you to them, and Yelena was now a thing that came with you, like a pet that nobody liked but they tolerated enough because they were around you so much. Yelena makes it to you in five steps and looms over the three soldiers gathered around you.
The girl with brown hair looks up between her tears. Her eyes widen, she sniffs, and she rises. Yelena looks at her once.
“It’s my fault,” the girl says. Yelena looks away, looking down at you. “She-she pushed me out of the way. It should have been me.”
“Sasha!” another soldier says. Yelena blinks, remembering their faces. Veterans of the wars, Sasha and Connie, two of your good friends. “Don’t say that. It shouldn’t have been anybody, now pull yourself together and help me!”
Yelena takes Sasha’s place, her eyes focused on you as you breathe heavily. Connie fiddles with bandages as another boy brings forward a med-kit, one that a soldier -Floch- takes quickly and sets between his and Connie’s knees. Yelena assesses the situation, looking back at you. Your eyes flutter as Connie removes his hand, looking at your wound. The blood rises back out, like jam in a doughnut, and he cringes.
“My girl,” Yelena mutters, pushing the hair from your face. Hearing her voice, you force your eyes open. They’re bloodshot and your skin is clammy and pale, but you still try to smile when you take in the sight of her. “Oh, my poor girl–”
“Yelena,” you say. Your voice is hoarse and scratchy, and you wince as you speak.
“Don’t,” Yelena says. “Don’t move, either. Seems your friend here will patch you up, and when we get back, we’ll find you a doctor, mkay?”
You don’t move, as she instructed. You blink at her, huffing through your nose and using your finger, you tap her leg. Yelena notices your hand by your side and takes it gently, squeezing with little pressure when you close your eyes again. Connie moves your waist, trying to wrap a bandage around your middle to keep the pressure on the wound, to prevent an infection. Yelena watches his face twist and turn, and then she looks back at you, taking it all in.
If it wasn’t for the audience, Yelena knows she’d be in worse condition. Her throat tightens as she takes note of every crease of pain on your face, every whimper as Connie moves you, every time you try to look past her to find Sasha, still crying over Yelena’s shoulder.
Yelena looks at Connie. “Can you do it?”
Connie goes white. “I’ve never done this before.”
“What, put on a bandage?”
“Never had to bandage my shot and close to dying friend,” Connie says with a level voice, but Yelena can spot the tenseness beneath, the slight shake in his words. “There’s- there’s so much blood, so–”
“But, can you do it?”
Connie stares at her, and Yelena looks back. Connie gapes at the sight– Yelena’s face is downturned, every expression solemn. “Can you save her?”
Floch nods on Connie’s behalf, opening the med-skit and finding a pair of scissors for Connie to cut the bandage. “She’s gonna make it, Yelena.”
For a while, Yelena watches every move that they make, every time they wrap a bandage and cut it. Connie’s right, there’s a lot of blood, soaking through your clothes and on the floor. Yelena looks over her shoulder at Sasha, telling her to stop crying. She just had to trust in these soldiers- your friends- to keep you safe, which was more than she could do.
Stroking your face, Yelena ignores the world as it moves around her, taking note of the seconds between your breaths, of the pain on your face, of the way your fingers tighten and release around her hand. Yelena knew what loss was, and how it felt, but just the thought of losing you was unbearable.
The ship wasn’t due to land in Paradis for another hour or so–would you even make it until then? Yelena tried not to think the worst as she watched you writhing in pain.
“I could give her a sedative?” Connie suggests, looking at Floch for answers.
“Do we have that?”
There’s a pause. “Captain Levi might know where sedatives are. Maybe there’s some in the cockpit with Hange–”
“Sedative?” Yelena interrupts, and both of them look to her with surprise. “Is that safe? You said you’ve never done this before, how do you know it will be good for her?”
“It’ll help with her pain,” Floch explains slowly.
“Or it could make it worse,” Yelena says. She thinks about titan serums, stuffed into syringes, looking like ordinary fluids. It wouldn’t be possible, but she didn’t think that you getting shot would ever be possible, either.
Floch looks at Yelena with confusion. “Yelena, it will help take the pain away. It could help save her life, why wouldn’t you want that for her?”
“Do it.” Your voice is low, almost silent, but they hear it anyway. Yelena snaps her neck towards you. You’re looking at her, gently squeezing her hand. “It’s…it’s okay. I hurt.”
Yelena opens her mouth, trying to form the words. Floch has already risen to head towards the front of the ship, and Connie still has one hand over your wound, scared to lift it. Sasha is calmer now, and sat next to Yelena’s right leg. Yelena cups one side of your face with her other hand, gently rubbing her thumb over your cheekbone.
“Don’t worry, you’ll be okay,” she assures you. “We’re almost home, and then we can get you to a real doctor, okay? Don’t speak if it hurts.”
You try to laugh, and Connie’s hands press tighter on your stomach when a circle of blood soaks through the bandages. “Ouch.”
Yelena frowns, looking at you seriously. “I mean it, Y/N. Stop. Be careful.”
“I’ll be okay,” you say. Yelena’s not sure if you’re trying to assure her or to assure yourself. “Dr Connie’s got me covered.”
Connie bites his lip, trying not to cry as he smiles. “Hope I never have to do this again. Yelena’s right, Y/N, don’t overdo it, your wound is still open. Breathe. Yelena- can you hold her wound? I’m going to find a towel to wipe the blood up.”
Yelena nods once and takes over. Her hand is bigger, covering the entire wounded area and she doesn’t watch as Connie and Sasha scurry up towards where Floch disappeared to. Yelena expects your life, still hanging on, will be of excitement to other soldiers, so she soaks up the time she has with you alone like a final meal for prisoners, not wasting a single moment. Yelena looks at you softly, smiling when you catch her gaze after a long blink.
“Y/N, I was so scared that you weren’t going to make it,” she says quietly. You look up at her, drumming two fingers against her palm twice. “How could this happen? I should have been here. We should have been more careful about who was coming on board, how could we be so stupid-?”
“It’s not your fault,” you assure her. Yelena’s breath hitches in her throat. “It’s nobody's fault but mine. I-” you wince, and Yelena’s brows raise in concern- “I pushed Sasha. It was gonna be her. I made it me. And I’m okay.”
“You could have died.”
“Many people died today,” you say. “It would have been an honour dying for my friends. But…I’m fine. And you’re fine, and you’re here.”
Yelena shakes her head. She felt that way once about Zeke. Once, she had this protective desire towards him, and would have taken a bullet for him. If she thinks honestly, it would be with reluctance that she’d take a bullet for Zeke now, now that she has someone to live for. Yelena sighs, knowing she can’t change your mind about it, and she presses a kiss to your knuckles. Her stomach hurts, her hunger gone and replaced with fear.
She sighs again, loudly, and settles down more comfortably on the floor. “I’m glad you’re safe. Really. It’s a long ride home, anyway. I’ll lecture you about it all when you’re better.”
You smile, air puffing from your nose as you stare at her, your cheek on your shoulder. “It’s the reason I’m staying alive.”

====================================
It was another quiet evening.
Yelena sat on the couch, enamored by the TV, scooping spoonful upon spoonful of macaroni in her mouth. You glance at her periodically, barely listening to what the show is saying. She looks peaceful here, utterly content here with you and it makes your heart flutter thinking of how lucky you are.
She tilts her head a small smile forming along her lips. “My dove, what’s on your mind?”
“Nothing,” You tuck your legs more under the blanket, shifting on the couch cushions to get more comfortable.
“Liar,” she grins, setting down her bowl on the nightstand, crawling along the sectional to you, her lips a hair's breadth away from yours. She maneuvers herself on top of you more and you feel yourself sinking further into the embrace of the couch. A gasp falls from your lips but you’re not exactly complaining, not when Yelena is here, gazing at you adoringly, cupping your face between her hands, her beautiful gaze boring into you.
You whimper at the touch, wrapping your arms around her before pressing a gentle kiss to her neck. She responds in kind, kissing you so softly, her lips like honey it leaves you wanting more and more. She lets you take and take whimpering at the feeling of you beneath her. She adores these moments when she can relax here, be in your arms not constantly running or trying to lay low all the time. When she’s with you she feels better and happier.
You’ve become her home.
She nuzzles more into you, her kisses growing more desperate, her hands slipping under your shirt and you shiver, welcoming her touch. It’s unexpected, but you love the teasing it’s always the best part, and when she pulls you into another kiss you tug off her shirt as well, leaving her exposed in her black bra, looking utterly exquisite still as the day you first saw her.
“Beautiful…” you murmur, brushing your hand along her shoulder. Your fingers brush through her wispy ashen blonde strands, earning a soft whimper from her.
“So good…” she mumbles and it makes your heart yearn and ache more for her. She doesn’t hesitate to devour your lips again, your shirt joining hers on the floor the skin-to-skin contact lighting you on fire.
She slips her hands under your waistband and teases you with two fingers, enjoying watching you squirm and whimper in protest at the loss, and she tuts. “Be patient. I tend to worship you fully, my dove,” she says lowly, her accent thickening with each word. It sends a thrill jolting down you at the prospect of the thought.
“Yelena…please,” you groan, tugging her lower lip in desperation.
Her hands fall to your sides, her legs straddling your hips now, just barely grinding against you, teasing you, not quenching the fire pooling in your core. Oh, how you love the feeling.
“Dove…you’re absolutely ravishing…” a kiss is planted to your collarbone, her tongue following in its wake, causing you to squirm and she grinds against you again in return, making you moan.
All this teasing was the part you both enjoyed, and what came after, be that cuddling or having you fall apart once more just for her. It didn’t matter for you felt safe enough to let go, to be around her and she always made sure to check you were alright. You love the rare spicy occasions, but both of you would much rather cuddle, find solace in each other’s presence and warmth.
After she pulls back, admiring her marks, you wrap her in your blanket, kissing her softly. “You are amazing, Yelena. I adore you so much, thank you for that.”
“Wanted to spice things up a little…glad I did good!” she beams, her smile radiant warming you from head to toe. You can’t help but kiss her desperately trying to show her how much you appreciate and adore her.
For how could you get so lucky to have her complete you and be your other half?
Quickly, you remove yourself for her embrace despite her protests stacking some wood in the fireplace before you, smirking in satisfaction at the growing flames. Once you make your way back to the couch, you pull her into your arms, her naked form soft against you. She looks so cute, content and peaceful you can’t help but kiss her nose, giggling when she scruches it.
“You look so cute, Yelena,” you grin, stroking her hair and she sighs in content, growing more relaxed in your embrace.
“I adore you, my dove.”
“And I adore you, Yelena.” You murmur, resting your chin on top of her head as you stroke her side, drifting off to the sounds of the crackling fire and the smell of home, of Yelena resting safely in your arms.

It was a beautiful morning the day you got married to Yelena, in an off-shore white chapel surrounded by seagulls and sea waves. It was beautiful and enthralling to finally hold the woman of your dreams and walk with her on the path of life, exchanging vows of eternal love. Your life was just as hectic as hers or even more so. You had long been a spy, trained from your youth to serve your country so naturally, you had met Yelena, the short blonde woman full of ambition and sarcasm at an open field while she was trying to outwit you. In the end, you won, and together you made a perfect team.
Yelena pulled you away from the spy life and into the magnificent world of a freelance vigilante. After this, you both started working together, doing the good old shooting, maiming, and battling together and soon your feelings for one another came to light. With a sealed kiss one night on a forgotten beach, you became one and thus inseparable.
Notoriously, the pair of you had become quite well known amongst the circles of assassins and vigilantes across Europe and all of the world. There wasn’t a single authoritative place where your pictures weren’t up with big red signs saying ‘Dangerous, proceed with caution.’ There was a hefty bounty for whoever could get information on you but you were both much smarter than that.
Sometimes you liked showing up just to lead people into a merry chase and forcing them to waste their resources like this. Yelena and you did share the same sense of humor. And tricking people was always funny and just. Wasn’t really your fault if people were gullible like that.
Now it has been five months since your honeymoon ended and you were both on different missions across Europe. Not something that you did often but you did always choose places that were close enough to one another. Often you took hits from the dark internet, assassinating rapists and pedophiles.
As for this particular mission, you were in the northern part of Croatia while Yelena was in the mountainside of Italy. Your mission was supposed to be easy. Take one piece of antique jewelry that carries hidden instructions for a new chemical solution. It should have been easy, it should have been a break-in and take kind of thing but nothing seemed to be working for you that day. From the moment when you woke up, on the wrong train you took to the weirdest old factory you had ever come across.
Once inside, you make your moves slowly, descending from the outer metal ladder down to the basement, that’s where your intel showed you where the piece of jewelry was. Long forgotten and well hidden. But what you didn’t expect was the gas that started fuelling the room the minute your combat boots hit the concrete ground.
Quickly you pulled up your mask, trying to secure your face and not inhale anything but the gas was new secret technology. One millisecond, one inhale and you were out. You passed out with your hand on the necklace without even realizing what happened.
A couple of hours later you woke up, securely tied to a chair, and a pair of powerful metal handcuffs on your wrists. Two people dressed in black tactical gear were staring at you, each carrying many weapons and knives. The room was small and there were blinds on the window next to you. Looks like an interrogation room of sorts.
“Welcome to Interpol.” The sound of a man followed by a door closing behind jolted you awake and you tilt your head to look at him.
“That doesn’t look very welcoming.” You crack out a joke shaking the heavy handcuffs and trying to move your cuffed legs.
“Is the best I can do under these circumstances.”
“What kind of circumstances, officer? If you are an officer.”
“For you, I can be.”
“Very well.”
“The ones where you are a very dangerous criminal that I refuse to allow to escape.”
“I can assure you I would never do that.”
“If only I could trust you.”
You chuckle and wink at him, sitting back in your chair.
“Am I allowed a lawyer?”
“One will be provided as the law states.”
“Cool, hope they are good.”
“For your sake, I would hope so too. “
You stifle back into your chair, and very soon the person you had been waiting for arrives, introduces herself to you, and settles down.  After the lawyer has arrived you remain silent as per her instructions and the officer tries to reach some sort of deal for you. What they are more interested in is where Yelena is and where you keep all the money. Pretty typical stuff but nothing scares you. You have all done this before, on both sides of the law.
Next up is traveling you from Croatia all the way to Luxemburg, to the Court of Justice. There were heavy chains on your arms and your legs, the lawyer sitting next to you, and five soldiers armed to the brink with heavy weapons securing you.
But it came as no surprise to you when you heard the familiar sound of car tires stopping. Followed by one loud thump and the beginning of the overturning of the army truck. The truck stopped as the soldiers got prepared for the impact and the intrusion. Secure in your position and with a slight smirk on the curls of your lips you sit there in anticipation knowing what will come next. She truly couldn’t stay away from you for a long time.
Yelena’s favorite toy.  A bazooka, one shot, and a hole were now evident at the back doors of the truck. The soldiers immediately get in position sealing you with their bodies but you stay still as you watch one after the other fall to the ground. Followed by the lawyer, two can play the game. Yelena had used the same exact gas that they had caught you with. You knew very well she had made sure how it would be. Yelena hated being outwitted by anyone.
You watch her as she secures the bazooka on her back and struts towards it with the confidence of a woman who just messed up the whole world. In her gloved hands, she is holding the necklace you were after, shaking it gloating for you.
“Sorry for being so late, I had another tiny job to do first.” You roll your eyes and sigh.
“A little help if your majesty wouldn’t mind.” You tell her pointing at the chains with your eyes and she chuckles putting the necklace in the pockets of her gear.
“A little demanding aren’t we?” She tilted her head. ”Maybe I like seeing you all tied up. Ever thought of that?”
“Maybe that’s precisely what I have been thinking and I wish the current situation was much different.”
“Alright, very very cool.” She nods positively as she comes closer to you and with a laser knife starts cutting off the chains.
“Be careful, it might sting a little.”
“I know you’d never hurt me on purpose.”
“Aw, sentimental, aren’t we?”
“Just a little bit.”
With a thud, the chains drop to the ground and Yelena helps you off your seat. She quickly checks in to ensure there are no bugs or other secret weapons on you and then leads you to her motorcycle.
The truth is you both were prepared for something like this, you had bought a cabin in an obscure Lithuanian small town a couple of months back where you had a large sum of the money you both had acquired during your vigilante work. You knew where she was taking you and you knew the trip would be relatively long. She secures the helmet on your head kissing your lips as she does so, the seal of a promise made long ago. She turns around and revs up the engine. It would be a long day and an even longer night.
By the time you arrived in Lithuania, it was well past midnight and you were both tired and hungry. But you had each other and that’s all you cared about. Sleepily Yelena tapped at your shoulder while you were parking the motorcycle. The cabin was small and had only necessities but you could never need anything more than each other. You give her a sheepish kiss on her cheek and then go to the kitchen searching for some food.
Then Yelena is taking a shower while you are cooking spaghetti on the pot and the night seems still, domestic, like a normal life for a change. It doesn’t take you too long to settle in this domestic bliss, cooking, cleaning, and sleeping together. Watching tv shows and complaining about the smallest things. There is plenty of money around and even though you have everything under surveillance, it doesn’t take too much for the thrill of adventure to overwhelm you both once again.
After all what was life if not one big game?

Tumblr media
Beams of light bounced around the room as the wind blew the blinds over the window around. Yelena picked up on it, though it was subtle and got out of bed to close the window so it wouldn't wake you both up.
Unfortunately, as she left the bed, so did her warmth and this did not go unnoticed by you. "Lena?" your eyes were still closed as you shuffled backwards into Kate's embrace but reached your arms out towards your other girlfriend's side of the bed to find her hand to hold.
"It's okay, detka, I'm here," she whispered to you as she slipped back under the blankets, holding you close to her. She smiled as she felt you take her hand and began playing with her fingers, she felt safe with you.
The feeling of being in bed with your two favourite people never failed to instantly calm and relax you. "You're so beautiful," you hadn't meant to utter your thought out loud but you just couldn't help it.
Kate missed your touch as soon as Yelena pulled you away from her, so she pulled you back to your original position, making the blonde scoff and roll her eyes, "Kate Bishop."
The brunette laughed softly into your hair, sticking her tongue out at the spy. They eventually compromised and both held you tightly while drawing soothing, reassuring patterns on your skin, placing kisses on your hair every so often as they always wanted you to know how much they love you.
Yelena brought her fingers up to your stomach and brushed them over your skin softly, making you giggle and hide your face in her neck, "Lena, stop." She chuckled, realising she had been tickling you and retracted her hands from your stomach, moving them back to their previous position.
You nuzzled your face into Yelena's chest, inhaling her familiar scent. She smelled like fresh laundry and Kate, which you weren't complaining about.
Mornings like these were to be cherished, as dating two superheroes meant you had to savour the peaceful moments as they didn't come around very often.
"I love you both, so much," Kate sighed dreamily, as if she was in heaven. "I love you more," you turned around to face her, gazing into her eyes as she looked at you with the utmost adoration.
"I love you more too," Yelena pouted, making you both giggle and kiss her pout away. She smiled, getting out of bed after giving you both a kiss on the cheek. "I'm gonna make some pancakes, come down whenever you want," she grinned.
Ever since she had found a normal life for herself, she had taken an interest in cooking. She enjoyed the scientific aspect of it, as well as the joy that was sparked when you and Kate joined in, usually resulting in a huge mess of ingredients all over the kitchen.
As you lay in the archer's arms, one of her hands was gently playing with your hair, lulling you back into a light sleep. The sensation was so comforting, like her simple touch could make you feel at home.
However, your peaceful slumber was interrupted by the two fluffiest residents of the house, Fanny and Lucky. The two jumped up on the bed, squishing you both immediately.
Kate could handle it a lot better than you could, considering she was a literal superhero, so she always got concerned for your safety whenever the dogs did this, but you always assured her that you were okay.
"Come on, let's go eat," she slipped out from under the blankets, making you pout in her direction. She looked at you and giggled at your adorable expression. Walking over to you, she handed you one of her hoodies and helped you put it on before taking your hand in hers and dragging you downstairs.
When you got there, you made a beeline for the table so you could sit down, you were absolutely not a morning person. Kate however, snuck up behind Yelena and wrapped her arms around her waist, resting her chin on her shoulder.
Of course, Yelena was a trained assassin, so she knew when Kate was approaching her but she knew it amused her girlfriend when she acted like she didn't know she was there so she kept her mouth shut.
"Good morning, Kate Bishop," she flipped a pancake in her air. "Morning, Lena," she grinned, kissing her shoulder before the blonde spun around with a soft smile on her face directed at you.
"Good morning, moya printsessa," she came over to you to give you a gentle kiss and to hand you a cup of coffee. As she gave it to you, your fingers brushed against each other's and you couldn't help the butterflies that started fluttering in your stomach, even though you had been dating the spy for over seven months now.
However, you noticed the slight tint of pink that dusted over Yelena's cheeks for a second which made you feel a lot better. "Be careful, the coffee is hot," she slightly stuttered before swiftly - though not so elegantly - going back to make some more pancakes.
Kate laughed at your interaction, coming to sit next to you. Instantly, you leaned closer to her as she rested her hand on your thigh, slowly stroking it absentmindedly. You appreciated the soothing gesture, closing your eyes for a second before she tapped your nose, "hey, at least stay awake long enough to let us feed you some pancakes, then you can sleep as long as you want baby."
Sighing, you moved into her lap, letting Yelena sit next to you with all the food. Sometimes, you found it hard to eat three meals a day every day, but your girlfriends would always be there to help you and support you.
Yelena slid the plates with your breakfast to you and Kate, your favourite toppings already on them as the blonde knew you both like the back of her hand.
The brunette placed one of her hands on your shoulder and gently began to subconsciously massage it. She often did this when she knew you were stressed out, but she wasn't usually aware that she was doing it. It was more of a natural instinct.
As soon as Yelena brought her food to the table, Kate stole a bite of hers, grinning mischievously at the russian. She rolled her eyes and shook her head as she smiled at her girlfriend's antics.
Looking at your pancakes, you wanted to eat them but at the same time you really didn't. The two other women at the table noticed your hesitation and began to hum your favourite song to help calm your thoughts.
When Kate felt your body relax against hers, she cut off a bit of your pancake and brought your fork up to your mouth. You laughed, "I can feed myself, Katie." She shrugged, "that doesn't mean you should have to."
You tried to argue with the archer but she wouldn't let you, "you deserve nothing but the best, angel."
Yelena mumbled an agreement though it was muffled by the amount of food she had stuffed in her mouth.
After you had all finished your breakfasts, you got up to put your plate in the dishwasher, your arm brushing against Kate's as you walked past her even though there was plenty of space for you to pass by each other.
The look on her face told you she did it on purpose, and you smiled at her antics. She picked you up and you wrapped your legs around her waist, letting her carry you into the living room.
Yelena followed soon after, grabbing a blanket and wrapping it around you. Kate put you down on the sofa and let the blonde hold you tightly. "I'm so proud of you for eating breakfast today, malyshka," she smiled at you and you returned the gesture.
You rested your head on her chest, listening to the steady beat of her heart. It was slightly higher than the archer's as she was always on high alert, constantly assessing everything that could possibly be a threat to you and Kate.
The brunette turned on your favourite film and sat next to you, lacing her fingers with yours, kissing your hand softly as the opening scene began to play.
However, you had other plans and as Yelena's hand came up to brush through your hair, the world around you began to fade and you slipped into a deep slumber.
Your girlfriends chuckled when they noticed you were already asleep again, making sure you were comfortable before they both gave you a kiss on the forehead and turned the film down slightly, allowing you to relax.

Hi <3 I wanted to make a request for Yelena if that's okay? She's in love with the reader and they go on a mission together and something happens and Yelena thinks that the reader died, she starts to panic and cry because she thought she just lost the only other person she came to care about, and she can't imagine going through that again. Just so the reader shows up fine and holds yelena comforting her that she's okay and not alone, and maybe yelena let's her feelings slip. Thanks <3
Mistakes Happen
Yelena Belova x Reader
Tumblr media
The explosion was deafening, regardless of it being on the other side of the building. Yelena’s head snapped towards the sound, her stomach dropping to the floor when she heard the crackles in the comms.
“(Y/N), come through.” She spoke, lifting her hand to press a button on the devise in her ear. “(Y/N), do you copy?”
Only more static came through, the lack of your voice made Yelena inhale quickly. She didn’t want to think of the worst but the sinking feeling in her gut made it impossible to ignore the possibility.
She cursed herself for letting you go alone. I’ll be okay. You told her, yet the thought of that currently would be considered naïve. She wasn’t naïve, or at least she didn’t want to be.
With the lasts of her energy, she ran towards the corridors where the explosion was heard. Her breathing was elevated, but it was only because her mind was doing cartwheels. The mere thought of something happening to you made her sick to her stomach, throat already tightening.
The heat of the fire went unnoticed as she tried to run through the burning building in search of you.
“Yelena, retreat.”
She paused, looking around the fire that surrounded her. Regardless of the noise it made, for once it was deadly quiet. So quiet not even her breathing was audible. Steve’s voice continued to yell into her ear, but she couldn’t hear him. Maybe she chose not to, maybe she was listening for a specific sound that would give her any indication you were okay. But with the seconds ticking away, so did her ability to endure the heat of the fire on her skin.
“I have to find her Steve.” Voice so frail she didn’t even notice the tears dropping down her cheek until she heard the crack in her words. She knew it was a lost cause. Even if you were someone close, the fire would of engulfed you before she even stared running towards you.
“We’ll find her. Get out of there before you go MIA too.”
Five hours.
It took them five hours to find you.
By the time the fire calmed down and was manageable to extinguish, five long hours had passed. Yelena helped for the first part, but Steve dismissed her and she was made to stay in the Jet until further notice, simply for the good for her own mind. She already felt like she could go insane, so to think you still hadn’t been found was making her go even crazier.
You could imagine the absolute shock on her face when you walked into the Jet with minor injuries. Somehow, you detonated a hidden bomb somewhere and before you could warn her, the bomb already was going off. You managed to hide, but the burns on your back made it clear you had been in pain for a while.
She basically ran into you, her head instantly dropping to the crook of your neck. You smiled and hugged her back, ignoring the burn on your back as you extended you arms.
“I’m okay.”
Steve had already started flying the jet back to the compound, so he left the two of you alone knowing you’d be fine together.
“Are you sure?” She sniffed, immediately pushing away to check over your body. She wanted to ask how you made it out, but she knew it would be better if she didn’t know, for her sake.
She saw your back and immediately took you to the medical wing. She wasn’t bad at first aid, but Bruce would definitely have to look at the wound when you got back. The gauze she put on it would have to last until you landed.
You both walked back into the main area where the seats and your bag were kept. She was about to sit down, but you grabbed her arms and wrapped your own around her waist.
Almost instantaneously, she started crying again. Her eyes were already red from before, but now they dried out beyond comfort. She didn’t seem to care, holding onto your body with a insanely strong grip. You let her cry it out, softly proceeding to run your hand through her hair as you whispered soft words of reassurance in her ear.
“Hey, I’m okay. I’m not leaving anywhere.”
“I thought I lost you.”
The shake in her voice made your heart shatter. You didn’t mean to scare her, and clearly she deeply cared that you went missing. You don’t think you’d react differently if she went MIA for a few hours.
“God, I can’t lose you. I love you too much.”
She didn’t mean to say it, but somehow the words slipped out of her mouth as if she’d said them many times before. She hoped you’d take it as friends, but part of her wanted you to finally get the hint.
“I love you too, Lena.”
She wanted to pull away, but she didn’t.
“I don’t think you understand me.” She said with a airy laugh. Righting her arms around you. “I love you.”
You paused for a second, trying to process what she’d just said. Of course you loved her back, you had for the last year.
You made her pull away, gently grabbing her shoulders then cupping her face before pulling her face closer to yours. You pecked her lips before leaning in fully, warning her of what you were going to do. She seemed fully prepared though, kissing back as if she’d been wanting this for years.
“And I love you.” You whispered against her lips, pecking them once more before you pulled away enough to see her smell blush.
She didn’t stop smiling on the flight back, leaving you sleep with your head on her thighs for the remaining time you both had on the plane.
THE END

Imagine being the Avengers weapon expert and Kate accidentally kissing you
Tumblr media
You were in your lab working on a new staff for Yelena, after testing out her upgraded widow bites on actual mission. She barged into the lab the second she returned with a duffel bag on her shoulder, and dumped the contents out on your workstation. With no regard for the work you were already doing. She demanded that you give all of her weapons cool upgrades, and then she saw the look on your face. The blonde was one of your best friends, and you loved her. But you didn't appreciate her burying your papers, and the mini bombs under her pile of staffs, batons, guns, and knives.
She apologized profusely realizing what she did, and actually got upset thinking you were angry with her. You calmed her down, letting her know it was okay and in the future just choose an empty space to put her stuff on. She agreed and the two of you started going over ideas for her weapons.
That was about two days ago and you hadn't left the lab since. Unless it was to sleep or shower your food was delivered to your lab by Yelena or another agent. You didn't think anyone would really notice your absence around the Compound, considering your lab was already basically your home. If you weren't in there then you would be in the room. Every now and then you make the occasional trip to the kitchen to grab something out of the fridge. But other than that was it unless one of the Avengers requested your audience somewhere else.
Well that was your routine before you started hanging out with Kate on a daily basis. The archer kept her promise and even after getting her trick arrows back. She made it a habit to stop by the lab just about every single day. Unless she was on a mission, or you were working on a huge project and needed solidarity. Even then Kate would at least join you for a small lunch break, and if she noticed you were too caught up with your work. Kate would force you away from it and take out into the city to enjoy yourself.
This was one of those times Kate had a mission that would require her to be away for at least three days. At the most and you promised to spend some time with her before leaving, but here it was her last day. Before she had to depart for the mission later that night, and there had be no sign of you for almost two days. She knew what exactly what was going on, and decided to head to the lab to put a stop to it.
You were too focused on the simulations running on your laptop to realize the doors slid open. It was when your chair started moving backward pulling you away from your workstation. You became aware of the presence of the intruder, and you didn't need to turn around to see who it was.
"Kate no I'm almost done I just need to see if the end of the results, and make sure the damage of the energy waves will be controlled." You whined reaching for the desk in a last ditch effort to try and and grab it. But it was too faraway and as your body leaned forward to make up the distance. Which was still no good and if it wasn't for Kate grabbing the back of your jacket. You would've face planted on the hard concrete floor.
"And I only have a few more hours left of free time before I leave for my three day mission. Those weapons can wait and Yelena will be fine without them after all I'm going to be her partner." She told you spinning the chair around so you were facing her.
You couldn't hide the guilty look on your face when you realized that. Indeed you'd been neglecting her these past couple of days to work on the weapons.
"I'm sorry Katie the rest of my day belongs to you. Whatever you want to do I promise" You said rubbing the back of your neck with a sheepish smile.
O-Oh y-ye-yeah th-that sounds great yeah um I was thinking of-" Kate paused stumbling over her words. You calling her Katie threw her like it always did. Besides Yelena you were the only one who called her that, but when it came out of your mouth. It was way more adorable than when the blonde would use it.
You raised an eyebrow at her with a more confident smile forming now. "Did you want to go into the city?"
Kate shook her head finally pulling herself together. "No I wanted to teach you how to shoot an arrow. You told me last week that the bow and arrow was the only weapon. You truly sucked at and I want to help you master it."
The confidence vanished as you let out a nervous chuckle. "Um are you sure about that?"
"Of course its not like you'll be shooting an apple off my head or something? We'll start out with some basic target practice and go from there. Come on its going to be fun" Kate said not really giving you a choice. Her hand latched onto yours, and next you knew she was tugging you out of the chair.
You let her lead you down the hallway and into one of gyms for training. It was empty besides the two of you with nothing but wide open field. At the end was a three giant target boards spread out next to each other. There was a small table with a pretty normal looking bow and arrow on it.
"Where did you get this archery set from?" You asked picking it up to study the material a bit more closely.
"I bought it from Walmart yesterday when I went snack shopping" Kate answered. Her eyes drifting upward to the ceiling knowing you were giving her a judgmental look.
"You mean to tell me one of your best friends is literally a pro at building weapons, and has access to some of the strongest materials out there. But you choose to buy a cheap archery set at a grocery store instead of coming to me." You knew she wasn't trying to insult your skills or anything, but still you were offended.
"It was on sale and a good set for beginners. I thought it would be perfect for you rather than some of the high tech stuff. You gave me those arrows can do some serious damage y/n. I figured you wouldn't appreciate me using them for training" She explained.
When she putted broke it down like that. You couldn't argue with her decision anymore. "Alright come show me how to do this." You caved picking up the bow, and doing your best to notch one of the arrows. Your hands fiddled with the bowstring trying to place the arrow in there perfectly. When another hand covered your own and began guiding your movements. Kate rested her other hand on your waist for the time being. You could her body pressing into yours slightly from behind, but it was until your head turned to the side. And found her face just a few an inches away that you let out a shaky breath forgetting the words on the tip of your tongue.
"Hey pay attention or you'll never get this down" She chided softly nudging her chin forward.
"Oh yeah right so I just-" Your voice trailed off as you let Kate take over and guide you in putting the arrow in place. Then her other hand left your rest and came to rest on the your other hand. With her help you were able to notch the arrow, pull it back without it falling out, and released it. In the past whenever you tried to shoot an arrow it wouldn't go far before hitting the ground. This time the arrow sailed across the gym and struck one of the wooden targets. It didn't hit the bullseye but at least it made it.
Kate took a step back missing the disappointed look on your face since you were still facing away from her. "There we go let's just do that a few more times then we'll work on your aim."
For the next two hours Kate taught you basics of shooting arrows. Until you could notch the arrow and shoot it successfully without her help. After that she moved on to helping you learn how to aim better but only got ten minutes in. Before Yelena came barging into the gym in her Widow suit, and a bag slung across her shoulder.
"Bishop change of plans we need to move out in ten minutes. Go get ready and meet me at the quinjet." The blonde announced throwing a quick wave at you, and then she was gone again.
You managed to wave at her too not bothered at all by the lack of acknowledgment. Yelena was always like that when it came time for an important mission.
Kate let out a frustrated groan at having her time with you cut short. What could possibly be going on that it required them to leave almost five hours early.
You placed the bow and arrow back on the table and turned to Kate with a cheerful smile. "Its okay Katie we can pick this up when you get back."
"I know but its just I'm going to be gone so long you know" she replied walking closer to you.
"The next three days will come and go before you know it. Trust me I'm not going to replace you before then I don't think I could ever replace you."
Kate beamed at those words and without realizing it she leaned forward to press a lips to yours for just a few quick seconds. Your body froze and there was no response from you at all, but it was so fast that it didn't matter. She pulled away with a grin "that's really nice to hear y/n. I gotta go before Yelena decides she needs to hunt me down. I'll see you in three days" with those words Kate took off out of the gym. Leaving you there rooted in the that spot shock written all over your face.
It wasn't until Kate was seated in the quinjet next to Yelena buckling herself in. She realized just exactly what she did, and her eyes widened as soon as the realizations hit her.
"OH CRAP"

Level of pain | Yelena Belova
Tumblr media
Pairing: Yelena Belova x Reader
Prompt: “It’s only a small scratch, how can your pain level be a 9?”
Warning: Mention of being stabbed, wounds, blood and stitches.
masterlist | requests: closed | words: 525
With you working at the compound infirmary your girlfriend Yelena found any small scratch to be a reason to come visit you. You loved seeing her of course, but every time she came in to be looked at you feared the worst. And with her job, it wasn't weird to be fearing her well-being.
When she started coming in each time she had a tiny scratch that didn’t even have to be treated, just as an excuse to come see you, you told her about how it made you feel when she showed up in the infirmary and how scared you got each time. That's why you decided on a scale system. Before you would treat her you would ask her how bad her pain was on a scale from 1 through 10.
So, when you walked into the infirmary after you got notified by F.R.I.D.A.Y. that a patient was waiting for your assistance and saw Yelena sitting on the stretcher your heart dropped once again. After you had shared your experiences of getting scared for her well-being, Yelena had not come in with small scratches anymore. Though by the looks of it today she seemed to be just fine with a couple small scratched. So, you asked your question about the scale. "Hey love, where are you on the pain scale?"
Yelena thought for a second before announcing, "Nine." Your eyes widen. “It’s only a small scratch, how can your pain level be a 9?” Yelena lifted her shirt to reveal a bloodied cloth wrapped around her stomach. "I got stabbed. But you should've seen the other guy!" She tried in an attempt to sound like her cheery self, not quite reaching the level of enthusiasm she was usually at. "Nat found this piece of fabric and stopped the bleeding, temporarily. But I don’t think it’s working anymore."
You saw her getting paler as she spoke. "Okay love, stop talking okay? You need to safe your energy, I’ll take care of you." Yelena laid down on the stretcher while you called out to F.R.I.D.A.Y. "Get Dr. Cho in here as soon as possible, tell her to meet me in the surgical room." You start moving the stretcher to the room while you speak. Yelena needed blood and fluids, and fast.
Luckily you had blood in all blood-type ready to go. An advantage when working with a group that needed it more often than you would think. You hooked up and IV for fluids and hung a bag of blood. You got everything ready to go for when Dr. Cho arrived. When she did she takes over leading the surgery and you stay to assist her. She makes sure that everything is disinfected and stitched up.
After the surgery you are right by Yelena’s side and through out her recovery you are as well. Yelena being Yelena, she wanted to go right back into intensive training. You had to actively convince her that she needed time to heal before doing anything of the sorts. Which is why you occupied her with having movie nights, playing games and most of all you shared lots of cuddles.
