Glasses Swag Sequel Submissions
Hey gang, in celebration of me finally getting new glasses frames after spending seven years with the same ones, I have decided to return to an old tournament, one of my first….
The Glasses Swag Tournament is where you can submit all your favorite glasses-wearing characters!
Since this is a follow-up to a previous tournament, I won't be accepting characters who made it into the previous bracket. The document linked below is a list of the submissions I got. Any characters in the "Bracket" section will not be eligible to participate, but characters in the "Extra Submissions" section are (if you want some ideas). I'm not automatically accepting anyone so if you want them in, make a quick submission!
Now, rules for submissions:
The character has to have physical glasses so no contacts. If they switch between the two that’s fine.
The character should be wearing the glasses most of the time. I’m going for them being a key part of their design.
Has to be a fictional character, so no real people in this tournament. And no OCs, sorry.
One character per submission please
Please don’t spam one character multiple times through the form but you can submit multiple forms for different characters.
Submissions will close May 19, 2024 at 12:00 AM EST (midnight). I should be done with remaining school stuff by then so I have time to put together the bracket.
Have fun!
Also, tagging some cool tournaments/poll blogs I follow to help spread the word: @mattapparentlystumbltourneys @weeb-polls-with-pip @serialadoptersbracket @foundfamilyadoptionagency @fairytale-poll @yen-sids-tournament

Master Eraqus Ain't Shit
So I decided to wake up and choose violence today.
"Oh brother, this guy stinks!"
In Dark Road, we see that Eraqus has always had the same black and white mentality. He’s always believed that only light should exist, and that darkness should be destroyed. Even Xehanort, who was the same age as him, could understand that there needs to be a balance between light and darkness.
And even well into his old age, Eraqus never changed his mindset.
This line of thinking was so pervasive that it stopped him from making Terra a keyblade master. If Terra had never visibly manifested his darkness, it’s possible that both him and Aqua could’ve been made keyblade masters. Not that I’m blaming Terra or anything, I’m just sayin.
Xehanort told Terra in Radiant Garden that he could study under Eraqus for years, and yet he would never make him a master. I think he’s 100% right.
Both Terra and Aqua would end up internalizing this mindset in different ways:
Since he was on the receiving end of the darkness slander, Terra developed a deep insecurity. And some of the villains, especially Xehanort, were able to take advantage of him partially as a result of this insecurity and partially due to his own naivety. His journey was all about finding out how to control it, but bc he wasn’t properly mentored on how to do so, he failed.
Aqua took on this mentality along with Eraqus’s self-righteousness. She was about to prematurely attack or possibly even kill Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Drizella if she hadn’t been stopped by Fairy Godmother. And later on, I feel like this mentality contributed to her thinking differently of Terra. But then again, there was a lot of miscommunication between the three of them. And that miscommunication caused a rift in their friendship.
And with Ventus, when Eraqus learned that Xehanort was planning on using him to form the X-blade, his immediate response was to kill him. Albeit, with some remorse.
Like sir, that’s your friend. You decided to let him back into your life after he wrote that sorry ass apology letter to you. You invited him back into your home. That means he manipulated you too. If he’s the one that’s putting your kids in danger, you need to go after him, not Ventus.
Imagine for a second if Terra had arrived too late (or didn’t arrive at all) and Eraqus succeeded in killing Ventus. The amount of emotional damage that would’ve done to him and Aqua is unfathomable. He put both Ven and Terra in so much danger. Yes, in the end, he realized the atrocity that he almost committed, but it was too little too late. He was lucky that the best-case-scenario happened. Well, I guess the best-case-scenario would have been for all of them to survive and jump Xehanort, but it's better that the kids survived.
As a follow up to that, imagine if Terra lost the fight and was killed. Eraqus is a master keyblader after all, so he's no slouch in battle. He whooped my ass many times when I played it recently. But anyways, that could’ve been two bodies on Eraqus’ hands. He is so unfit to be a mentor to anyone.
SPOILERS for Dark Road: now given what Eraqus and Xehanort went thru in DR, it makes sense as to why he would have such an extreme response to darkness. The fact that darkness is what killed their classmates, and the fact that Xehanort had to put down Baldur himself when he got corrupted. That moment would change the both of them forever. And any child would be deeply traumatized in seeing their friends get murdered on by one. But it doesn’t excuse what he attempted to do. Again, he put the lives of two of his three students in danger.
As a rewrite for this scene, maybe he could’ve contacted Aqua and told her to come home immediately once he realized what was happening. Maybe go to Yen Sid’s tower and link up with Mickey, Donald and Goofy, and the six of them plan a coordinated jumping on Xehanort. Sometimes ppl need to be jumped, you know? Like “Hey, Xehanort has gone off the deep end. He nearly used Ven to try to form the X-blade. We need to stop him before he tries this again.”
EDIT: I did really enjoy the reunion scene in KH3. It was nice that the Wayfinder trio at least got to see him one last time.
And in his character file, Terra feels immense guilt and wants Eraqus's forgiveness. I can only imagine the amount of guilt one would feel after an experience like that. There was no way he could predict the consequence of being Xehanort's pawn for 10 years.
But as a childhood trauma survivor, I know as much as the next survivor that you don't owe your parents/parental figures forgiveness. They owe you. Eraqus should've been the one asking for Terra's forgiveness, not the other way around.
I think bc he's presented as one of the "good guys" some folks may have been quick to overlook some of his actions.
But then again, if he did everything perfectly, this wouldn’t be as interesting to talk about.

The actual Plot of Kingdom Hearts
Okay so here’s something that’s been bothering me that I haven’t seen anyone talk about; the macro story of Kingdom Hearts. Because it’s easy to point and kind of laughingly go “what is the plot of Kingdom Hearts anyway”, and with all the talk of Darkness and Light and Keyblades and friendship and Hearts it’s easy to lose track of so okay. Let’s take a look at what we got. The overall, actual plot of Kingdom Hearts.
So let’s zoom out. Let’s zoom all the fucking way out. The biggest scale we can go to; the two fundamental forces of Light and Darkness.
Kingdom Hearts is, fundamentally, the story of Light persevering. Let me explain.
We start with the Chi-saga. It’s the Age of Fairy Tales, the realm of Light is thriving, and as someone once so succinctly put it, everyone and their grandma has a Keyblade. This is Light at its peak. I’d even go so far as to suggest that this is the only point in the story where Light and Darkness are fully balanced. The Master of Masters does mention a before-time where he and others waged war on Darkness, so maybe not a perfect balance, but the percentages are pretty much even.
But Darkness starts to creep in, do what it does best and corrupt from the inside out. Then Daybreak Town is gone and the Keyblade Wielders are greatly diminished. The ability becomes less common, and those who possess it are to be trained carefully. Missing Link isn’t out yet so we can’t assess the state of the Light during that period, but we don’t need to, because we have Dark Road.
Keyblade Wielders are pretty much entirely limited to Scala, Daybreak Town’s descendant. (…Theory that Daybreak Town/Scala Ad Caelum is a stronghold for the Light, but that’s for another time) From what we see in Dark Road, there are still enough people with the ability to justify setting up a school for, but by the end? Darkness has struck again, and Odin is no longer accepting students, leaving himself, Xehanort, and Eraqus as the last Keyblade Wielders (not counting Luxu and Yen Sid for obvious reasons.)
Which then leads us into Birth By Sleep. How many Keyblade Wielders do we have aside from Xehanort and Eraqus? Well, there’s the Wayfinder Trio, Vanitas, and Mickey. That’s five people. Five. From the thousands upon thousands that we started out with.
And they fall. Eraqus dies. Ventus is seized by sleep, taking Vanitas with him. Aqua seals herself in the Realm of Darkness. Terra is both literally and metaphorically ripped to shreds. They still live, but they are in no condition to protect the Realm of Light, and even if either Ansem or Xemnas had the ability to wield a Keyblade, they wouldn’t want to. Arguably we still have Mickey, but let’s count: that’s ONE. PERSON. One. One person against the Darkness that has broken and corrupted so many worlds, so many people. The Realm of Light is in danger. The Realm of Light is dying. The Light is dying.
So what does the Light do? One last-ditch attempt at saving itself – it takes its Keyblade, and finds a suitable Wielder. And it finds one. A child, bequeathed even, with the overwhelming desire to protect those he holds dear. And the Light thinks perfect.
But Riku chooses the Darkness. The Darkness could grant his wish, and due to the darkness already inside him – jealousy and arrogance, he accepted its offer. So where does this leave the Realm of Light? Any potentional Wielders have either abandoned the path of the Keyblade, or were taken off of it thru no fault of their own. The Realm of Light is done for.
Except it’s not.
Because you can argue that all of this came later, this giant macro story. All this history, this context was added by the later games. Right?
Except it wasn’t.
Because they say it. They tell you outright. They say it in the very first game: the story of Light fading, and how it survived in the hearts of children.
In the face of overwhelming darkness and despair, worlds crumbling and without his friends, without his weapon at one point even, Sora didn’t give up. Even traveling to the End of the World and seeing the shards of the worlds that already fell, that couldn’t hold out, he stared Ansem in the face and told him he was wrong. That the true nature of all things was not Darkness. That Kingdom Hearts is Light.
And so it was Light.
Light persevered in his heart - literally, even; he sheltered Kairi, a Princess of Heart. A heart of pure Light.
Light survives in the hearts of children.
And from there the tide turns. The Light is back, it has a foothold again, it has defenders.
Because that’s the thing. Kingdom Hearts wasn’t threatened by Ansem. If it were, Sora would likely have been given the X-Blade. But he got the Key of Light. Called the Kingdom Key, yes, but still the Keyblade for the Realm of Light. Because the Realm of Light needed his help, the Realm of Light was in danger.
So yeah, after that there are more Keyblade Wielders. Of course there are; the Light is finally able to fight back, once again trying to achieve a balanced state.
The fight against Darkness is never over, and it never will be. That’s how this universe works. But if this series has taught us anything, it’s that no one is ever wholly evil and no one is ever wholly good. Everyone has a little darkness, just as everyone has a little light. You simply choose for yourself which one to nourish.
The Light is not inherently good – we see this most prominently in Eraqus, who believes Darkness must be defeated and that if anyone possesses any darkness, they are evil. But the Darkness is not inherently evil either – as showcased by Riku.
Light and Darkness are two forces who need each other as much as they hate each other, and the power they grant is just that; power. Power is power, it’s just a tool. No morality attached.
The heart is a mess. Not fully good, not fully evil. Not fully light nor fully dark. One cannot exist without the other, and full dominance from either side is no good. The greater the light, the greater the shadow, right?
There must be balance. And balance takes hard work, and dedication, and no easy way out.
And the Hero of Light works harder than anyone else.
That’s why Sora is special. Not because he’s “the only one who can wield a Keyblade” (also who even said that? Riku? Literally what the fuck does he know he was being manipulated by Ansem and Maleficent), but because he was literally the least qualified person in the room and still made it work. Because of who he is. That’s why the Light chose him.
Light perseveres.
Sora perseveres.
That is the plot of Kingdom Hearts.

🔮Twisted Wonderland Theory Guess 🔮
“🤔 Is MC/Yuu is descendants of ‘Balance Keeper’? Or Alice from series ‘Alice Comedies’?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Never thought we are going to follow MC/Yuu's journey to Episode 07 Diasomnia soon. Probably the main story will began on winter seasons. Suddenly I want to discuss about the MC/Yuu, along other Yuu from Twst comic and Twst novel. We already know a two main character that resemble as MC/Yuu (Not official yet),Enma Yuuken (Comic) and Kuroki Yuuya(Novel). Since it's school of boys, means the MC is a male, while in the game the MC gender is neutral. Can be male or female. Same like other games too.
Even MC/Yuu doesn't have a magic skills in Twisted Wonderland, MC has a unknown ability that can read predict what will happen on those students. Sort of a dimension psychic mind to see subject past and presence. Also, MC is the first person who met Mickey Mouse in the mirror. Dire Crowley did gave MC "Ghost Camera" in Prologue, a camera that is able to take a picture of anything possessing a soul. Sounds very similar how we make a moving pictures to make a animation short film in 90s. In scene old Disney "Alice in Wonderland" at “Alice Comedies”.
I did realize something of MC's ability "Time sight" of Future, Past, and presence. It is similar ability of Master Yen Sid, The Balance Keeper. Yen Sid is also can see someone's past like MC's did see Villains Past in different parallel. It could possibly MC is Yen Sid's Descendants. Why you ask? MC and Yen Sid almost similar, they're not in Heroes or Villains side. More like Tritagonist or Rebel. A person who knows which path they must follow and will seek the truth in knowledge. Plus, remember when the magic dark mirror in Prologue Can't see the colors of MC's souls due ceremony NRC? That is why MC is resemble of "Balance", between light and dark like Yen Sid. So, MC souls color is grey. Even the students see MC more like Cheeky and Blunt. No matter MC doesn't have a magic, but MC did have a secret talent That no one can have. Now let's talk about Connection MC with Grim. Grim's name is from story fairy tale. We maybe think Grim is similar with Stitch, but actually he remind me of Julius the Cat from "Alice Comedies". His mischievous, helper, and comedic is similar with Julius.
Only thing something connection to this, MC resemble as Alice and Grim as Julius. Alice met Julius the Cat in Cartoon land when Alice done visit Mr."WD" in his animation workshop. Julius always accompany Alice wherever she goes to seek new adventure she never see before. Same how Grim will always accompany MC to seek if there's a chance to return to real world while help Grim to graduate in Night Raven College with others too.
I do believe that Dire Crowley and Ambrose could it be Yen Sid "Apprentice". Both of them had same level mastery magician, Ambrose with Light Magic and Crowley with Dark Magic. While Yen Sin both light and magic, Balance Magic. I got feeling that Ambrose approach to Dire Crowley more like his "Kouhei/Junior", while Ambrose is Crowley "Senpai/Senior" (if it's true). One thing I suspicious on Crowley is, Crowley could be doing this Overblot situation is following the original Villains role story by choosing students that is already Have Villains heritage magic. Like Riddle, Leona, Azul, Jamil, Vil, Idia and Malleus when everyone is in Coffin due ceremony Dark Mirror. Grim could be part Crowley's plan too or it just Crowley himself pretend he didn't know anything. Ambrose actually knows what's going Due VDC last year in Episode 05 Pomefiore. Which means Ambrose can predict future like Merlin. For Crowley, he could be resemble "The Phantom Blot", character from "House of Mouse" and monster in "Epic Mickey". Since who else knows about "Blot" thing?
Last is connection with Mickey Mouse, we know that Mickey as iconic mascot of Disney. Funny of my thoughts that Ambrose and Crowley remind me of Mickey and Oswald the Lucky rabbit. While Grim as Julius the Cat. In Epic Mickey, Oswald feel jealous and annoying that his "father"-Loves Mickey the most, same goes to Toon people who always remember him than Oswald. Same goes Crowley is sick that people more support to RSA and Ambrose than NRC and himself.

How did the group meet??, how do they interact with eachother??, how many performances have they done??,what type of music do they write???,what timeline is it in this au??,does Holly exist???,what does cuphead and mugmans parents think about them being in a band??, so they enjoy being in a band???, I gotta keep it short Bcus I’m at my bus stop srry, also I’ll finish the lore thing but u started school again Bcus I was sick so it might take me a bit😭😭
Interactions are kinda the same as canon IM. Sometimes the band honestly sees eachother as brothers. Boris being the little brother and Cup the older. Bendy and Cup tease eachother a lot. Mugman and Boris are just really sweet friends. Each takes a certain role in making their songs and that’s kind of a different thing.
I’m not sure how many performances they’ve done but I know it’s a lot. They’ve done a tour or two. They do specifically Pop/Punk rock. The main songs I have in my AU playlists are by Set it Off, Panic! At the Disco, Jhariah, Bear Ghost, and Ethan Gander.
This AU is set in modern times 2020s.
Holly does exist. Cuphead and Holly met in college at Yen Sid University and were pretty good friends. Years later when he started his band he recommended Holly to his band manager and she was hired as a special effects director. Using a combo of rune magic and tech (with the help of Bendy, Boris, and Dr. Flug) to have cool exciting performances. She also work with Alice and Cala in wardrobe sometimes specifically with styling hair. Tho that really only applies to Cuphead and Mugman lol.
Cuphead and Mugman never met their parents. So they have no idea what they think.
Everyone absolutely loves being in this band. It’s so much fun to make, record, and perform songs with their best friends and idols. For some being in the band is one of the ways they feel comfortable and safe, if that makes sense.
Have fun at school!
And thanks for the ask!

In honour of getting though Witcher season 3 I would like to share with you my thought process while watching this show, not that anyone asked. Can you tell Jaskier is my fav?
Season 1
Me, seeing Jaskier for the first time: a baby! Must protect, already fave.
Me throughout the season: How are you still alive? And how are you not aging?
Me still at season one going through social media: oh, so you don't like Jaskier, huh? Square up bitch cos I'm coming for your ass. Also why the hell is he called Dandelion? Jaskier is a buttercup not a dandelion? Dandelion would be so fucking funny though [image of Sid and last dandelion of season vivid in my mind]
Me still on season one: ok I know we NEED to normalise closeness between two male friends but that's definitely gay, right? Like Jaskier just readies such dumbass bisexual energy and he so clearly is in love with Geralt
Me, during the mountain scene: Bitch, bitch, bitch how dare you [actually insert the Jaskier HOW DARE YOU picture] actually stops watching the show for like a week
Season 2
Me, immediately at the beginning: where's Jaskier? Where's my man? My child? Where's that idiot?
Me, after I see Jaskier: what have they DONE to you? But the songs absolutely slaps (talking about the whore song that was so funny)
The apology scene: Nope, nope, sir that's the most half assed apology I've ever seen
Overall season two: yes, yes serious matters and Jaskier is a comic relief but could you just try to give him some more screen time like bitch he's trying his best, he risks his life, he does some good, he loves Ciri and Geralt just fucking appreciate him! I know it ain't about him but for being Geralts friend for so fucking long I think he deserves some appreciation for his accomplishments from others characters, even a little
Season 3
Sees trailer: "Dear friend.." ahaha that's for Jaskier for sure! [Sees a blur of him] oh thank god he's in here!
Me, after seeing Jaskier: oh, god oh no. Why, why, WHY?! WHO they fuck took the game design?! Put it back I say PUT IT BACK!!!
Me seeing Radowid: *squints as he praises Jaskier, clearly flirts with him and actually appreciates him UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE* I want to trust you but that would be a mistake
Me, throughout the season: ah, so you finally admit that Jaskier is in love with Geralt who somewhat patched things up with Yen so you give Jaskier a new love interest, who is a man [icarly interesting image]
(listen I loved them this season but it felt like a weird sudden jump in their relationship and idk, by this season rocked I just wished they included Jaskier more and if canonicaly were not getting Graskier then fucking give him some screen time as a part of a family! He's great with Ciri!)
Also that Valdo scene was fucking HILARIOUS
Me when, suprise, suprise Radowid did a backflip: I knew it, why am I surprised, I knew it. Jaskier why do you have a TYPE?!
Final thoughts: Jaskier fits perfectly into their witcher family dynamics just give him more screen time! Please! also very curious about Radowid redemption arc although I'm not ready to let go yet, and also may I add the music, fantastic, don't care if it's periodic or not Joey my man you killed it.
It's clear that Jaskier has a type for like unrequited/getting hurt type of love or the writers just love whumping him which like fine but then make it fucking seen like by others? It takes a fucking plot device character in SEASON 3 to see it? like give me some fucking comfort as well you assholes.
Also super weird that they went with the game design and gradually changed it simultaneously ageing Jaskier. I mean why now? He hasn't aged in like a decade and then he suddenly did? Just keep him immortal will you?
Idk it's chaotic lads cos I just finished it and I think I've seen season 1 most times and the rest kinda blurs together so

🍐🍍🍈
-@auradon-bore-a-don
🍐 Is there anything in canon that you absolutely hate and love to fix in fics? A wrong choice made, a fuck-up in characterization, a misunderstanding never cleared up, a conversation never shown onscreen, etc…
The Rise timeline!
I have a feeling that I already said this, but, yeah. Rise timeline.
I generally just split it in two parts, so I can have Lost Revenge crew established ever since they were like twelve or so. Mostly because I can, and also because come on, Uma didn't get that kind of loyalty from half a year.
Besides, pirate shenanigans.
That's like a point on its own.
🍍 What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?
I don't really enjoy non-magic AU, I just like the fantasy and magic part more.
And not gonna lie, the darker, the better.
And with Descendants? Who can even say what is an Alternate Universe, and what is a not-clarified canon choice?
(Isle of the Lost is Neverland; Ally of Neverland AU)
🍈 Who’s your blorbo and what are some of your favorite headcanons/ideas about them that repeatedly show up in your fics? Free pass to rant about blorbo opinions.
I'm sorry, I can't possibly decide on one favourite character. I'm just gonna pass out a bunch of headcanons about everyone:
Fairy lights on Lost Revenge!! This is canon but I am having feelings over it!!
Uma is the only one on the Isle who is not afraid of the hook-weapons. This is entirely Harry's fault.
The Isle kids love betting. There is barely anything else to do, so they just bet at anything and everything. They also do a remarkable job of not letting the involved kids know about the bets about them.
For example, Harriet Hook knows all about the bets about her younger siblings, but she has no idea about the fifteen or so bets with her name.
On unrelated note. Sammy Smee (Harriet's first mate), is not paid enough for this. It's not that Harriet isn't paying them, she just couldn't ever pay them enough. Not even if she raided Auradon Castle treasury.
The Hook siblings managed to acquire the majority of the Isle gold in between them and their partners. That's just a thing that happens. They bought none of it.
Claudine Frollo has been adopted by the Hooks. In turn, the amount of gold she wears increased exponentially.
She can and will kill a man while going on about the deadly sins without missing a beat. And she is judging you.
She is also entirely convinced that Lost Revenge is a cult. (She is right.)
She, Ivy, and CJ are all arsonists. It's a headache, if you ask Harriet, but hey. They are having fun.
Ivy sells explosives to the other two. Her cousins could too, but she is the only one who can and will face Harriet and Uma and lie to them. I mean, come on. That girl survived Cruella. She has zero fucks to give and fears no god.
The Tremaines have the only actual neutral territory on the Isle. That's because the Isle kids are vain, and if they fight inside the saloon, Anthony will kick them out, which means they won't get their hair done, which is unacceptable.
Also, no one, no one, gets their hair done for free when Anthony is watching.
Except for Harriet Hook, but you don't mention that if you want to live.
The Facilier sisters are twins. They could also accurately be described as half-demons, what with the time their father spent on the other side.
They could talk their way from hell. Yes, they could.
Celia attends Dragon Hall and Freddie Witches Academy, which is because the Isle schools refuse to deal with more than one sibling at time. (This rule came into being due to the Hooks)
Captain James Hook has to partially fund two out of three Isle schools and he is not happy at all.
Arabella – the mermaid from Rise – is a sea witch and very much getting her corruption arc. She deserves it.
Sophie – Yen Sid's apprentice from Rise – is Snow White's daughter, banished to the Isle as a toddler because her parents were asking too many questions. That's just a thing that happens now. (She might or might nit be dating Sea Three.) (Sea Three with any Royals is always so much fun.)
Rise timeline is a suggestion ✨. I am not taking criticism on that one.
Lonnie taught Audrey how to fight. When prince Philip saw them, he decided that swordfighting would make for fine father daughter bonding activity.
Oh, and the reason why Aurora and Philip aren't in the picture for Audrey at the time of the movies? They decided to move back to the woods, to which thirteen years old Audrey said „Absolutely not-“
Chad is like that because Cinderella accidentally copied Lady Tremaine's attitude towards Drizzela and Anastasia. Look, she knew LT loved her daughters, you know? She really was trying. She just managed to spoil Chad rotten in the process.
Evie is a potioneer and good for her.
She and Carlos are closer to each other, like Mal and Jay.
Mal (among other Isle kids) can be controlled by laser pointer. Carlos can and will take full advantage of that. (She is essentially just a cat, okay? Wet grumpy kitty.)
She and CJ both get other's attention by pushing stuff off the table. Generally, when Mal does it, people just sigh and put it back. She is annoyed that it didn't break.
She adores broken mirrors. There is a certain beauty in them, you know?
Sometimes, she misses her wings. She never had them, but perhaps she would, were it not for the Isle, you see?
Jay prefers high places. He will not walk through the street if the roof looks like it might not break his neck.
He and Jade steal gold from the Hooks and get away with it. (They get away with stealing from everyone. They think it's fun.)
...I think I told too much now. Sorry. Stuff happens ✨
I hope you enjoyed & thank you for the ask!

Kingdom Hearts III
Kairi and Lea’s Keyblade Training
Kairi and Lea’s Keyblade Training - Part One
Song: Stories
Sung by: Belle, Kairi
Belle trains Kairi and Lea, freezing time in the world so they can take as long as they need to. After a while of training, Belle allows the two a break. Just in time for Christmas.
While Belle is wanting to bring Christmas back to the castle, Kairi just wants to know what Lea is trying to remember.
I’m sorry I left without saying goodbye. Did Master Yen Sid tell
you? I'm training to become a Keyblade wielder like you. That's right. No more waiting for you to come back from your adventures. I want to get out there and do my part to help. Master Belle has allowed us to train under her at the castle, where she stopped time for us. We can take as long as we need to complete our training. She’s an amazing mage. Oh, and by "us," I mean me and Lea. He's really sorry for all the trouble he caused. I told him it's fine, but he won't stop apologizing. I'll admit I was a little scared of him at
first, but I've gotten to know him better. All he ever wanted was to help his friend. Honestly, it's hard not to like him. Every now and then, I catch him staring at me. When I ask what's wrong, he says, "I'm not sure.
I think I'm forgetting something. Don't know what." Kida, I think it may have something to do with you. Your journey is all about helping people: some that you've never met before, and some like Lea that you have. They're all counting on you. It won't be easy, but I hope you'll remain the happy and cheerful Kida I know. There's no heart your smile can't reach.
Kairi feels eyes staring at her. She looks up, seeing Lea leaning against the open door to her bedroom at Beast’s castle. “Lea? Is something wrong?” She asks, making him break his stare. “It’s nothing. Sorry.” He tries to shake it away, but Kairi knew better. She waved her hand, letting him come in.
Lea walks into her room, sitting on a chair opposite from her bed as she continues writing. “A letter?” He asks, receiving a nod in return. “For Kida?” She shrugs a little. “Technically, but I won’t send it. It’s more for me.” “Ask Cogsworth. He’ll send it for you.”
Kairi nods in understanding before continuing. “Yeah, but it's okay. I just like talking to Kida, even if it's on paper.” Lea finally got it, dropping the topic. He pulls out a couple of ice cream bars. “Here.” He hands one to her. “Ice cream? Really? In this weather?” She was slightly teasing.
“Yeah, I asked Master Belle to pick them up.” Lea explains. “We both summoned Keyblades. Gotta celebrate.” She accepts one of the ice cream’s. “You’re sweet, Lea.”
Lea zoned out again, catching Kairi’s attention. “What?” He snaps out of it. “Nothing. I’m good…” He lies, turning away from her. She didn’t press on anymore. “So, next week, you ready?” She asks, getting a half hearted response. “Yeah. Of course.”
“Don’t hold back, Lea. Promise?”
He looks up to Kairi after hearing her say that, only he didn’t see her. He couldn’t clearly see who it was, but he did see that it was a boy with spiky, pink hair and an Organization coat. Lea’s ice cream slips out of his hand and he feels tears streaming down his face.
Kairi, concerned for her friend, immediately got off her bed and walked over to him. “Lea? Are you ok?” He tries wiping the tears away as Kairi gets closer to him. He gets up from his seat, still trying to clear away the ongoing tears. “Yeah, I’m sorry.” “You’re crying. What’s wrong?”
She was now trying to get an answer from him, only to be shut down once again. “Something in my eyes. I gotta go. Sorry.” He says, finally done crying. She decided to drop it, not wanting to pressure him. “‘Kay, but stop apologizing.”
Lea looks at Kairi for a second before responding. “Fine, on one condition.” He says. She responds with a question to what. “Call me Axel from now on.” She nods in understanding. “Ok, Axel.” He gently smiles at her before heading out of the room, leaving his ice cream on the floor.
Later that same day, Kairi was taking a walk through the castle, stopping in her tracks when she hears music coming from a nearby hallway. She enters the room, seeing an organ playing a chilling tune. She tries to stay out of sight.
He suddenly stops, opening his eyes. “Don’t be alarmed, child. Come out.” He says. Kairi walks into his line of vision. “Ah, you must be one of those “trainees” sent here.” Kairi bows her head in respect. “Yes. My name is Kairi. It’s a pleasure to meet you, sir.” “And I am Maestro Forte, Court Composer. The pleasure is mine, Carrie.” That takes her off guard. “My name is Kairi.”
He changes the subject. “Anyways, in the midst of my crescendo, I thought I heard merriment outside the window. Have a look see, will you?” She walks over, looking through the window. She smiles to herself. “Would you look at that?”
“Oh! I think I might!” Forte says, raising his voice. “I’ll just pick myself up and- Oh!” Large clanking echos in the room as Forte “tries to move”. “What’s thi- hump-! I’M BOLTED TO THE WALL!”
Kairi sheepishly chuckles. She turns back to the window. “The Beast is skating.” She tells Forte. “Why on earth would he do that?” He sounded disgusted. “Well it looks like Belle is helping him.” She felt her smile grow. “It’s so romantic just thinking about it.”
At that moment, more music started playing. Her vision went green for a minute before going back to normal. “You know why I can’t have that. Humanity is entirely over rated. Before the enchantment, there was no need for my particular brand of genius. But now, the master needs my melodies to feed his tormented soul. I am his confident and his best friend...and I won't let some peasant girl ruin it for me!”
Forte let’s out his frustration before calming. “Carly, see to it that this blossoming love withers on the vine.” She nods her head. "Sure thing, Maestro." As she walks out of the door, she forgets the whole interaction, heading down to one of the many rooms in the castle, wondering where Axel went.
"Why is The Beast such a grump?" She hears Belle down the hall, followed by Chip. "I don't know. He's always been this way." The two walk into the same room Kairi is in. "Even on Christmas?" Belle asks, receiving a yes in return. Belle walks over to a nearby desk as Chip hops over to Kairi. "Kairi? What's Christmas?" He asks her. She slightly smile, kneeling down and extending her hand down to Chip.
Chip hops onto her hand, letting her lift him up. "You must know about Christmas, Chip." She says, not taking notice to Belle walking up to the two. "Stockings in front of the fire? Tree? Tinsel?" Chip shakes his head, not knowing what she was talking about. "What about presents? You must know about that." Kairi asks a final question, receiving an enthusiastic response. "Presents? Do I get one?"
Kairi places Chip on a nearby desk as Belle answers his question. "Of course. Everyone gets a present on Christmas." "Even the master?' Chip must be referring to The Beast, who was the master of the castle. Kairi had met him once when she arrived there. She wasn't around him long enough to know exactly what he was like, but considering everyone's loud opinions on him and the fact that Axel tried to stay away from him is that he wasn't really favored by the people who shares the same space as him. Belle still answered Chip's question. "Yes, even the master."
"What are you going to get him?" Chip asks Belle, confusing her. "I don't really know him that well to know what he would want." Chip decided to change the question. "What would you want?" Belle smiles. "What I love most in the world are my books. My stories." Kairi smiles, hearing Belle say that.
Before Asnem dragged the Destiny Islands to darkness, Kida was a lot like Belle in this instance. When them and their brother weren't hanging out with each other, Kida always kept to herself with her books. It was the only thing that Kida kept from their old home, but they have been destroyed since.
"Why don't you give the master a story?" Chip asks, sparking an idea in Belle. "You're right, Chip. A story." Belle places a piece of paper down on the desk and Chip hops on top of it as Kairi takes a hold of a quill pen.
Belle: When I get to know him We'll find more things to say One day I will reach him There has to be a way Everyone needs someone He must need someone, too When I get to know him better Here's what I will do I'll read him stories From picture books All filled with wonder Magic worlds where the impossible Becomes the everyday We'll find a mountain-top And some moon-beams to sit under I'll lead, because I know the way! Kairi: So much to discover I do it all the time I could live inside bright pages Where the words all rhyme We will slay the dragons That still follow him around And he'll smile Yes, he'll smile As his dreams leave the ground!
Belle: Stories and stories About mermaids, kings and sunken treasure Magic worlds where the impossible Becomes the everyday
I know a tiny place Just a dot, Too small to measure I'll lead him there, I know the way!
Kairi: Stories about heroes Who overcame their deepest sorrows They'll put hope into his heart again To cherish everyday
Belle: He'll find a better world And the strength to face tomorrow
Both: I'm sure that when he knows the way He'll want to stay...
Belle had accidentally tied Chip down to the packaging of the book the three had made for The Beast. Kairi helps him out of the ribbon. "Do you think the master will like his gift?" He asks Kairi. "I'm pretty sure he will."
So, does this mean we're gonna have a Christmas? / Absolutely!

when I'm lost in the storm (and I'm calling) | Ch 1
AO3
<< Previous Work
“Are preparations complete?”
“Well, we’re still two short in the long-haul, but we’ve got what we need – at least for now.”
“Good.  And the first vessel?”
“Needs a bit more work.  Don’t you worry, though, it’ll be done in time for your little test drive.”
“Excellent.  Then let’s begin.”
Riku, a storm’s coming.
I know, the waves are getting steep.
Cold pavement to the face was one of Sora’s least favorite ways to wake up – probably top 5, definitely top 10.  Groaning, Sora pushed to his feet, stumbling a bit as his center of balance swung wildly, the ends of his limbs not quite where he thought they’d be.
Right, he’d been shrunk down, although…
“What’s with my clothes?  Must be more of Yen Sid’s magic.”
He picked at the fabric for a bit – twisting to try and look it all over – before dropping it with a huff, peering out from the small balcony he was ensconced in.  It was quiet – too quiet.  No bustle below, not even a whistle of wind, and no snarky commentary at his shoulder.  Shaking off his unease, he jumped up on the railing to get a better view of the area.
“Huh, this is… Traverse town.  Then, we made it through to the next world!  But what happened to Riku?  Hey!  Riku!”
“Shut it,” a voice snapped from below, “Talk about noise.”
Sora startled, falling over the edge of the balcony and landing in a heap below.  Ow, that hurt.  Footsteps approached as he winced, levering up on his elbows.  A boy with bright orange hair stared down at him, utterly unimpressed.
“Sora, right?” he said, reaching out and pulling Sora to his feet, using the same grip to flip his palm over, “Looks like you’re not a Player.”
“Uh, yeah, but… How do you know that?  And what’s a player?”
That was how Sora met Neku Sakuraba.
Neku very briefly explained his situation – a big game, played strictly in partners, and Neku already had one…somewhere.
“Okay, so, we can’t be partners,” Sora said, “Why don’t I just help you out as your friend?”
“Now we’re friends?” the boy scoffed, turning away, “It’s not that easy.”
“Not saying it is, but… you could make it easier.”
“Yeah, sounds great.  Whatever.”
“Cool!  Lead the way.”
Neku had a habit of leaving him behind, but he also showed Sora how to synthesize Dream Eaters, so that was pretty cool.  Take that, Moogles – he could learn to synthesize himself!
Sora had been a bit hesitant, at first, but he quickly warmed up to the little creature that bounced beside him into battle.  Not quite a cat, and not quite a dog, Meow Wow followed at his heels eagerly.
“Man, this guy’s pretty cool,” Sora said, rubbing at the creature’s head, “Are all Spirits like this?”
Neku shrugged, his own cat-creature rubbing at his shins, “The ones you make, anyways.  There’s naturally occurring Sprits, too, but they don’t really get close.  They’re not going to attack you, not like the nightmares, but they’re not gonna be your friend, either.  And some of them are weirder then others.  If you see ones with a special mark, don't even try.”
“Naturally occurring Spirits?  Huh.”
“Yeah, they’re – “ Neku cut off with a shudder, gaze going distant as he pressed a hand to his chest, a soft glow beneath it.  A moment later he grimaced, turning away.
“Neku?”
“Come on; we’ve wasted enough time.”
“Oh, right!  Let’s go!”
They ducked into an ally, taking the bend around towards the Third District, Neku always several feet ahead, hands tucked into his pocket and head ducked low.  As they passed what should have been Leon’s house, heading down the steps to the main square, he began looking around.
At the very center of the area, Neku stopped, turning on one foot to take in the whole room.
“I brought you Sora!” he called, “We had a bargain!”
“Neku?  What’s the matter?”
In the black of the sky, something moved.  Sora traced the silhouette as it paced across the roofs, coming ever closer to the edge until the light caught on it, revealing a familiar black coat.
“No way!”
His Key leapt to his hand.  The Organization membered lunged, magic crackling at their fingertips.
“Hey!” Neku called, racing forward in turn, “That wasn’t the deal!  You said you wouldn’t hurt him!”
“Don’t!  Neku!  They’re too dangerous!”  Sora started forward, rushing to help, but the figure’s head turned, catching his gaze with the endless black beneath the hood, and suddenly his legs turned to jelly beneath him.
The world went black.
Riku woke up alone.  He was certain he had just been beside Sora, drowning beneath the waves.  Now, he was in Traverse Town, surrounded by nothing but silence.
“Sora!  Where are you?”
No answer.  He frowned, reaching inside him for their bond.  Where was Sora?  Everywhere, his heart whispered, he’s here, he’s there, he’s everywhere.
How very helpful.
Sighing, he resurfaced.  Well, he was pretty sure they’d opened a Keyhole, so this must be one of the sleeping worlds.  It hadn’t been a conscious act, really, but he was certain of it.
“My Keyblade – it just sort of… popped into my hand when I needed it most,” he mused, “So, then – it’s started.”
“Wow!  Where’s your portal?”
Riku startled, spinning on his heel, tracking the voice, till he found the source perched on top of a nearby fountain.
“It takes something special to jump between grounds without one.”
Grounds?  Did he mean worlds?  Riku frowned, glaring up at the boy, “Who are you?”
“My name is Joshua.”
“What do you mean, Portal?”
Joshua arched one brow, leaning deeper on his knees to peer down at Riku, “Are we just skipping past the part where you tell me your name?”
“Riku,” he said grudgingly, impatience thrumming through him even as a sort of embarrassment prickled through his chest.
“Hello there, Riku,” Joshua smirked, “Portals are like gateways that link up our worlds.  Apparently, the world you and I are standing in right now – well, it’s been sort of split in half. Portals are what let folks like us cross between them.”
“There can be two of a world?”
“The world is as many things as people need it to be. The concept that we all live in the same world--that's just in our heads. Surely you knew?” Joshua drawled, idly curling a lock of hair around his finger, “I’ll tell you what, Riku. I've got a little errand for you.”
Riku immediately backed away, shaking his head, “Sorry. I don't trust you.”
“Aw, at least hear me out!” Joshua pouted, “I'm looking for a girl named Rhyme. She's the key to the Portal. And on the other side, who knows who we'll find? Maybe even your friend...Sora.”
His heart leapt.  He froze in his tracks, “You know Sora?”
“Now I have your attention.”
If Joshua was going to make the entire trek with him, Riku wasn’t sure why he was needed at all.  Still, Joshua at least made himself somewhat useful, explaining how dreams shaped the world around them and pointing out the peculiarity of the Dream Eaters.  Most helpfully, he showed him how to “shape” his dreams.
“Like this,” he said, cupping his Riku’s hands around a cluster of materials, prodding him to call up a burst of magic, showing him how to mold the shifting energy.
“And now, all it needs are your dreams.”
His dreams?  He wasn’t even sure what those were, anymore.  He was afraid he’d left those all behind, lost them to the darkness he drowned in.  This whole test was a chance to figure out who he was, now.
He was never going to be like Sora, an everlasting light; the shadows still clung to him too much for that.  But he wanted – he wanted…
The materials in his hand crackled, exploded out like smoke, pushing his hands away.  From the center a shadow grew, until it sprung out, immediately fluttering into his face.  It was a round, fuzzy ball sporting bat-like wings, and it chittered happily in his face.
“So you’re… my dreams?”
“How interesting,” Joshua said, leaning in for a better look, “Yes, I think he’ll do you very well.”
“What is that supposed to –“
“I gotchu now, Joshua!”
Riku snapped his head around to the voice, but Joshua just slumped in place.  A well-muscled kid leaned over the fencing above, foot on the rail as he posed dramatically.
“Once I take you down, yo, me and Rhyme is goin’ back where we belong!”
“Beat,” Joshua sighed, “How many times do we have to go over this?  You’ve been tricked – by that rouge in the black coat.”
It was like lightning up his spine, his stomach dropping out from under him, “What?  Black coats?  But that’s…”
They were gone – the Organization was destroyed.  It was over… wasn’t it?
A voice in the back of his mind remembered Mickey’s worried face when he’d shown him Naminé’s strange drawing, reminded him that Yen Sid wouldn’t have scheduled this test if he didn’t think there was a storm on the horizon.  His heart sank.
By the time he regained himself, Beat and Joshua seemed to have worked out their disagreement.
“This is stale, yo,” Beat sighed.
“Playing the tough guy twenty-four seven?” Joshua asked wryly, “I’d be worn out too.”
Beat shrugged, looking away moodily, “I just… wanna protect the one person who matters.”
“I know the feeling,” Riku said softly.  He glanced away, unsure, then opened his mouth, stepping forward to make an offer when –
His legs buckled under him, the world swimming.
What is this?
He fumbled in the dark, hand along the wall.  He could hear them, in the distance – they were outside, he just had to get there, just had to keep walking.  On and on, as the path went up, and up, and up, he tripped over –
a chest in the attic.  He just needed to find the stairs, he could hear them outside.  They were going to add extension to the tree house, he just needed to find –
the exit, there it was, a light to his left.  He turned, walking towards it, splashing through the puddles on the floor.  As he got closer, the light source sharpened, came into focus, reflecting off the water below.  A strange, flourishing heart, a teardrop cut out of its center, bracketed by the outline of two curved-in wings.  It burned in the dark.
The water began to rise.  He began to sink.  Two glowing eyes opened around the symbol, one on top of the other, staring down at him.
Oh, how did you get here? A high, thin voice echoed, We’ve never had someone stumble upon us before.  We had to bring all the others here ourselves.
Have you become unchained? A soft, melodic voice chimed, No… this is something different.
The waters rose, coming up to his chest.  Much more, and he’d have to tread to keep afloat.  Above, a thin ray of light cut through the dark.  Those eyes looked upwards.  A hand brushed his forehead.
It seems you won’t be here for long, the reedy voice hummed.
Yes, the melodic voice whispered, it looks like it’s time for you to –
wake up.
Cold pavement, again.  This time, however, there was a warm body at his side, and a strange lump on his back.
What was…. Oh!
Sora came alert with a gasp, jumping to his feet, the weight falling from him with a sharp squeak.
“Where is he?  …They’re both gone.”
Sighing, he crossed his arm, turning to frown down at Meow Wow – only to find a second, very indignant, face staring up at him from behind Meow Wow.
“Uh?  Who are you?”
He kneeled down, reaching out to the creature.  It kept a grumpy expression firmly on its face, but still pressed into his hand as he began to pet the small bat-like creature.
“Did you guys see where they went?”  The spirits didn’t give him an answer.  Instead, Meow Wow ducked its head under his other hand, and he took up petting it as well.  He sighed.
“Well, before I fell asleep, Neku said that he and that creep in the coat had a ‘deal’.  But, what was the deal?  Are the two of them in league?”
His stomach squirmed.  He paused, hand going still and earning two matching whines from the creatures in front of him.  Shaking his head, he stood up, “That can’t be right.  We never even found Neku’s partner.  But, now what… man, I wish Riku were here.”
The bat trilled, leaping into the air with a beat of its wings and spinning around him with a repeated series of chirps.
“Huh?  What’s got you so excited – wait, do you know Riku?  Do you know where he is?”
The bat cooed, landing on his shoulder and pressing into his face.
“I guess not,” he sighed, pressing a hand to his heart.  He plucked on the string of his bond with Riku, getting a delayed pulse back.  But where was he?  Here, his heart answered, he’s hereherehere.  Of course, Riku was always with him.  Right now, though, being able to talk to him might be more useful.
A wave of warmth pulsed over him, over Riku, washing out from Kairi’s end of their bond, and he took a deep breath.
“Well, no sense just standing here.  I’ll just take a look around.”
Traverse town was bigger than he’d ever known.  There was even a huge, multi-level post office!  It should have been obvious, given the mailboxes, but somehow, he’d never thought about that.  Past that were more streets, that eventually opened out into a big, open area with a huge fountain.
“Whoa,” he breathed, spinning in place to take it all in.
Just as he made full circle, there was a strange shuffling sound behind him, and he froze.   He craned his head to the side slowly, then froze even more, if that was possible, when he saw what was making the noise.
A Dream Eater was crossing the path.  A Spirit, for sure, not a Nightmare – the colors were different, for one, and there was a strange wing-like embellishment around the marking on its back, one he could swear he’d seen somewhere, just recently, if he could just remember –
It trotted across the path, a smaller Nightmare thrashing in its mouth.  Abruptly, it gave a shake, head twisting wildly to swing the Nightmare through the air, before doing a double-take and freezing, its eyes catching on Sora as well.
For a long moment, they just stared at each other, both unsure what to do, before the Spirit tightened its jaw with a crunch, the Nightmare poofing into smoke.  It gave a single bark, then turned, racing towards the fountain in the center of the area.
“Hey, wait!” Sora called, but it was too late.  In a great leap, the Spirit bounded into the fountain water splashing up after it.  When Sora reached the edge, peering inside, it had disappeared.
“Was that… one of those ‘naturally occurring Spirits’ Neku was talking about?”
Past the fountain, the path led to a winding, stair-step neighborhood lit with twinkling lights.  At the base of a hill, a large stadium was lit with neon lights and surrounded by lights.
“Ooh!  What’s that?”
He raced forward, marveling at the lights, when a girl to the side caught his eye.  In this whole city, the only people he’d seen were Neku and the Organization (and, of course, the ever-present moogles).  So how was she here?
“Hey, um,” Sora called, waving hesitantly when she turned to face him with a curious smile, “Any chance you’re Neku’s partner?”
The girl’s name was Rhyme, and she’d lost her memory.  At his suggestion that Neku might be able to help her out, she happily tagged along.  Thankfully, it didn’t take them long to find the other boy.
“Hey, Neku!”
He flinched, turning to look hesitantly over his shoulder, “Sora – what?  You actually still trust me?”
“Of course I do.”
“But, you know that I tricked you, right?  That guy in the black coat, he said he could send me home – me and my partner – but I had to bring you to him first.  Sorry.”
“No big deal,” Sora shrugged, more a roll of his shoulders than anything, as he moved to disentangle Komori Bat from chewing irritably on his ear, “When it really mattered, you stood up for me.  And besides – we’re friends.  Right?”
“Friends… yeah, okay.”
Unfortunately, Rhyme was not Neku’s partner – and no sooner had they been introduced than she disappeared into thin air.  The cloaked figure was back, staring menacingly down from the roof.  The weight of that stare fell upon him once more, but this time a surge of power rose up beside him.  Energy fizzled at his fingertips, along his spine, until it pushed back the heaviness, heavy wings popping from his spine.
Sora staggered for a moment under the weight – he hadn’t used these other wings since his own came in – but quickly restabilized.  The figure cocked their head to the side, then raised their hands to the sky, pulling Darkness from the very air.  A Nightmare slammed to the ground, and the figure turned away as a Corridor bloomed into existence.
“Huh?  Hey, wait!”  Sora didn’t need the urging of the other mind beside his to lunge after them, but his way was blocked by the Nightmare.  The corridor closed, and the weight of the wings lessened, dispelling with a thought.
Sora pulled out his own in their place, his Key coming soon after.
“Out of my way!”
When the Nightmare fell, Sora glided in for a landing, giving his wings one good shake before folding them into his spine.  Neku reached him soon after, coming to a silent stop by his side.  They both paused for a moment, breathing heavily in the aftermath of the fight, before a flash of light to the side caught their eye.
“Riku!”
His Flightmate appeared like a ghostly image, followed by a girl with long red hair.  His face was young and round in a way that sent Sora’s head swimming, all reminders of younger, easier days.  Heart leaping, he rushed forward, only to come up short as a chime rang through the air with a shower of sparks.
“Hold on, Sora.”
The voice was unfamiliar to him – but not, apparently, to Neku, whose spine straightened with a snap.
“Joshua.”
“Hello, Neku,” the new boy appeared from thin air between one second and the next, bringing Rhyme along with him, “How long the days without you have felt.”
“Rhyme!” Sora cheered, “I’m glad you’re okay.  Neku, do you know this guy?”
“Yeah.  Joshua.  He’s my… friend.”
Neku sounded a bit unsure of the last part but given his track record on the subject so far, Sora figured he’d let it slide.
“Okay.  Are you the one who took Rhyme away?  And, why do you know my name?”
Sora couldn’t entirely follow the explanation that followed, but he thought he got the gist of it – Joshua did do something with Rhyme, that something let him make portals, and he’d met Riku, somewhere on the other side of that portal.
“You mean… another Traverse Town?  Can I get there with your Portal thing?”
Sora reached for it, but Joshua quickly caught his wrist.
“Sad to say, it won’t work for you.  My ‘portal thing’ only opens for the one with Rhyme’s dreams.  In this projection,” here, Joshua waved to the still-moving projection, where first the girl, then Riku had disappeared around a corner, “You’re seeing another chain of events.  In another world trapped by the Dream Eaters.”
As he watched, Riku appeared again, backing down the stairs.  He stared up with horror, eyes wide, wild, in a way that sent Sora’s pulse racing.
“As for how the world got split in two,” Joshua continued, “I have a feeling you’ll need to ask this guy.”
From around the corner, the figure in the black coat appeared, stalking towards Riku.
A pluck at his bonds, a hand reaching out – where are you?
Here – his heart called, stretching into the dark, I’m here, always.
A wave of warmth, cradling him softly, and he –
Riku woke to something bouncing against his face insistently.
“Ugh… what… happened?”
There was a happy bark and response, and his eyes shot open.  A dream eater sat in front of him – one of those strange, bean-shaped ones – only with a different color palette.  A Spirit?
Apparently, he was taking too long to respond, because it began bouncing again, leaping eagerly into his chest.
“What, where did you come from?  Where is - ?”
A glance around showed Komori Bat watching indulgently from a nearby bench – and no one else.  Joshua and Beat were gone.
Instead, there was a girl fleeing from Dream Eaters, calling for help.  When he managed to chase them down, intervening just as the Nightmares had her cornered, she sighed in relief.
“Seriously, thanks,” she breathed as the last of the creatures dissipated into smoke, “I’m Shiki, how ‘bout you?”
“Riku.”
“Thanks, Riku.”
“Sure,” he sighed, letting his Keyblade fade from his hands.  Now, what next?  He needed to figure out how to get to that other half of the world Joshua mentioned, and his one lead was missing.
“Hey!” Shiki called, “That’s it?  You chat up a girl and then jus say, ‘Sure’, and walk off?”
Riku froze, slowly turning back, “I’m… bad at this.  Sorry.  Look, it’s not safe here.  You should go home.”
She pouted, “If it’s dangerous, how can you just leave me here?  Aren’t you my knight in shining armor?”
Bringing a doll she kept with her up to her face, she winked at him, and he felt his cheeks warm.
“Kn-knight?  You’ve got the wrong idea.”
Her eyes popped wide, and she looked away, muttering to herself before looking back at him with amusement in his eyes, “You get out much?”
He crossed his arms, embarrassment sinking deeper, and she laughed, “You remind me of this guy I know.  Well, good thing we met.”
“Yeah, great,” he sighed.
Shiki seemed happy enough to tag along as he started searching for Joshua, pointing out new paths he could take along the way.
“So, I gotta ask – where do you get your clothes?” She said as they wound their way through sloped, curving streets.
“My… clothes?” Riku asked, tugging at the hem of his shirt.  They were likely made from Yen Sid’s magic, but how did he explain that?  “I… got them from a friend.”
“A friend, huh?” Shiki echoed, humming a skeptical note that veered close to disdainful.
“What?” he snapped, shoulders hunching up around his ears.
“Well, it’s just.  It’s not that it’s bad!  I just have some questions about their choices.”
“Uh,” how was he supposed to respond to that?
“They’re okay!  I mean, the pants are kind of… and I really don’t get the wrist band thing, you and that guy both – but the shirt is nice!  Though I do wonder why they used that symbol.”
“Symbol?” Riku wondered, twisting to try and see what she was talking about.
“Yeah, right here!” she said, tracing a hand along his back that he quickly shied away from, “It’s like the Dream Eater symbol, but it’s got some extra lines… kind of like wings wrapped around it.”
“That’s,” odd, he wanted to say.  He didn’t know that was there, and he wasn’t sure it mattered.  Yen Sid probably had a reason, “I don’t know.  You’d have to ask my friend.”
“Well.  I just may, when this is all over.”
“You do that.”
A moment later she perked up, bouncing away, “Oh, let’s go – “
She gasped, stumbling to a stop, hand to her chest.  A green glow built below it, and she closed her eyes, taking several long, deep breaths, the light dimming with each one.  Once it was gone, she opened her eyes again, with a strange, melancholy look that looked out of place on her.
“Hey,” he said, faltering, “Are you – okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine,” she said softly, beginning to walk forward again.
She didn’t look satisfied though, so Riku trailed after silently, and sure enough a moment later she started again, “My partner and I are supposed to fight together, you know.  But whatever’s got us separated, it’s putting us out of Sync.  We can still pass energy to each other, but it’s all a bit… off.”
“Pass energy?” Riku wondered, “Oh.  This guy you’re looking for, you two are bonded?”
“Bonded?” Shiki echoed, and Riku shifted uncomfortably for a moment before briefly flaring his wings, quickly nestling them back along his spine.  Her eyes lit up in understanding, and she shook her head.
“Oh!  No, no.  What we’ve got is a Pact, not a Bond.  A bit different, really.  If I was bonding, it would be with – well.”
She shook her hair, glancing ahead, then straightened, pasting a smile across her face.
“Over there!”
“Hey!” Riku called, stumbling to a stop, “We should stick together!”
Shiki didn’t listen, racing away and turning a corner.  Moments later, he heard a scream.
“Perfect,” he grumbled, summoning his Key and hurrying to the stairs, “You can’t expect me to –“
A figure in a black coat, face obscured, stared down at him from the top of the stairs.  Shiki’s doll laid at his feet.  Ice rushed down his spine.
“Shiki!  No way!”
The figure stepped towards him, a half-step aborted as his foot landed on the doll.  They pulled back, glancing down briefly before kicking it out of the way.  Their way clear, they began to descend the stairs, stride sure and firm.
“How did you get here?”
“Who are you?” Riku snarled.
“By choice or chance?” the figure continued to muse, ignoring him completely.  They cocked their head to the side, “You cannot control what you’re not aware of.  So then, this wakeless sleep will be your prison – to wander forever.”
There was this presence surrounding him.  A heavy pressure, thick and familiar, hovering over the figure, baring hidden fangs at Riku as he backed away, step by unknowing step, until his heel met the edge of the platform.  His Key fizzled away from his hand, each breath a struggle, feeling like he was choking on the power in the air.
“What do you mean?”
The figure grinned.
“Riku, don’chu listen to that punk!”
Beat’s voice cut through the tension like a knife, the aura shattering around them.  Gasping in a deep breath as the weight lifted, Riku looked to the side, making sure to keep the stranger in his peripheral vision.
There was Shiki, whole and hale, shrinking behind Beat’s shoulder.
“Shiki’s gonna be fine!  She told me whassup.  Hoodie here set this whole thing up, yo – promised to send her back to our world, and you was the cost of travel.”
The figure tsk-ed, lazily reaching up to pull back his hood.  Silver eyes, ringed in yellow and framed by long silver hair, stared down at him disdainfully.
Riku scowled, Key flickering back to hand, “All right – who are you?”
There was no answer, only a Nightmare to defeat.
“Riku, I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine,” Riku sighed.
“No!” Shiki said, shaking her head, “It’s not.  It’s just - he said he’d take me home, me and Neku, but… At the cost of someone else – I should never have listened to him.”
Riku watched her for a moment as she fiddled with the ears of her of her stuffed cat, her jaw quivering.
“Your partner,” he started finally, “You said he wasn’t who you’d bond with, but still… you really care about him, don’t you?”
“Mm, well, it’s a bit complicated, but… Yes.  I do.”
“I get it.  Sometimes… you’ll do anything to protect someone you care about.”
Shiki frowned, her gaze flickering over to him, “Maybe, but… that doesn’t mean it’s right, does it?”
“…I don’t know.”
“Hey, what’s all this, yo?” Beat called.  Riku, relieved for the break in the tension, turned to the side.  In front of the other boy, a strange apparition flickered to life – the image of Sora, Joshua, and two other kids, pale and see-through.
“What are we seeing?” Riku wondered.
He reached out his hand, brushing against the illusion’s shoulder, letting if fizzle through his fingers.  It was strange – he could see Sora there, but in his heart he didn’t feel more there than he felt anywhere else.
“She’s right in front of me,” Beat cried, swiping desperately at her hand, “And I can’t reach her!”
“If your hearts are connected, you’ll reach her,” Riku said, turning back to Sora with a soft smile.  Maybe they were separated again, but Sora was still with him, in a way he never had been before.
A flash of light, and all the kids had disappeared – leaving only Riku, the image of Sora, and Joshua, who explained the truth behind Beat and Shiki’s fate.
“It struck me,” he finished, “by linking their dream pieces back together, maybe I could make them exist again.  Maybe I could give them another chance.”
“It can’t be that simple,” Riku protested.
“Well, why can’t it?  By ourselves, we’re no one.  It’s when other people look at us and see someone – that’s the moment we each start to exist.  All they needed was for someone to see them, connect with them.  And the two of you were a big part of making it happen.”
Riku’s breath caught, a small lump catching in his throat, “Joshua, just... who are you?”
The boy laughed, “Let’s just say – a friend.”
Something spread from his back as he turned away, wings but not-wings, shimmering and shifting, reality made real again and lifting him up and –
He was gone.
That’s when we start to exist…. Huh.

Random facts about Hannah Hook part 2;
🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️
She cannot stand when her goggle lenses are dirty. If drives her nuts. And if there is a Crack she will be bitching about it till it is fixed.
Once she and Peter find out that they are kind of related, they get together once a month and eat Chinese take out. Getting wisdom from fortune cookies (inspired by @chaosgremlin95 ).
She also has quite the potty mouth except around little kids.
She and Peter get along quite well since they mirror eachother in a way.
People are really always shocked to find out that they aren't biologically related.
Also auardon found out that Hannah could apparently understood fairy speak after Tink called her goggles and hair tacky.
Hannah has ADHD, anxiety, and sensory issues.
She has nearly 900 songs in her Playlist on YouTube. And that's just the music one.
She has over a 1,000 in her watch later list not to mention more in the countless other Playlist of non music stuff she has.
She has alot of allies and alot of enemies. Though she rarely knows WHY she has the enemies since most of the time it isn't really her fault.
She has bad memory, was a sickly child, and has a short attention span.
She hates math with a passion but loves English.
She is a fast reader if she really likes a fic or a book. Like can finish a 400 page book in a school day or two fast.
She can't write while listening to music. Or draw. It's too distracting for her. But she can watch TV or YouTube as background noise.
She can rarely sit still through a show or movie without doing something else at the same time.
Hannah sleeps in an island of misfit toys shirt and white Christmas light pattern pj bottoms.
She's wanted to be in the circus and a writer since she was a kid. In addition to the whole pirate thing.
So of course when a fortune cookie told her to join the circus, that's what she did.
Hannah is very awkward when comes to meeting her extended biological family and her bio parents' friends.
She also gets mortified when having to explain that no, Varian and Cassandra's were not a couple. One was just a surrogate for the other via using magic and they, along with their separate partners, decided to co parent.
She also gets very awkward and mortified when she has to explain that they are no longer with her.
She feels that people ask way too many questions about it.
She loves her Aunt Nuru and Uncle Yong because they are very interesting to her.
She bonds with Nuru over their love for space and keeping the peace while also bonding with Yong over the whole inventor pyromantic thing.
She feels a little awkward around Hugo at first because she didn't know about him or Andrew for the longest time. But she definitely gets along alot better with him than Andrew.
She misses her moms and fallen dad and wish she could know them.
She hates Gothel.
People suspect that the bit of moonstone in her isn't just what gave her magic. They think that Gothel's genes and the magic procedure Yen Sid did during the whole surrogate thing also played a hand.
Please do not mean about the Varian and Cassandra thing. Once again, I had already crested the oc when I found out just how big the age gap was and have done my best to tweak the character so her existence wouldn't be creepy. Also let me know what trigger warnings to add.

Kingdom Hearts' Keblade Wielders are just Jedi:
OK, so we can all agree that Keyblade Wielders are just Jedi, right?
That's not me projecting on an AU or anything.
They're just JEDI. Like, the parallel is obvious! Mark Hamill is even there!
Except they're allowed attachment (which, granted, 9 out of 10 times is what causes the problems) and everyone is a Padawan because the ONLY 3 LIVING MASTERS are crackpots!
Xehanort is The Evil One, Eraqus is the Qui-Gon Jinn/Obi-Wan Kenobi parallel that's too BLIND to see how to stop the Anakin (Terra) betrayal from happening and Yen Sid is Yoda BECAUSE HE NEVER DOES ANYTHING UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE except sit there ominously and help out in the final fight of the trilogy.
Still don't believe it? How about the "rule of two's"? How there can only be ONE Sith Lord and ONE Sith Apprentice?
As there are only 2 active evil Keyblade Wielders at a time! If we take BBS to be the Prequels, then Vanitas is 1000% Maul, and then there's Xehanort, who is STILL EVERY OTHER VILLAIN who weilds a Keyblade, with the sole exception of Xion (who forms part of the Sora Heart Hotel) and Luxu (who doesn't count because he doesn't wield his Keyblade during the entire Trilogy)!
The Whole KHUX plot is essentially Order 66, with the Foretellers (a fooled Council/Senate) turning Keyblade Wielders against each other for their Master's plan (unknowingly).
And finally, this new KHML connection with the "Secret Society of Keyblade Wielders" being a parallel of the Jedi as used during the Clone Wars: As a police force that takes your children rather than Peacekeepers.
I KNOW for a fact SOMEBODY has done this AU before, and I can't help but feel like the parallels got pretty obvious the longer Keyblade Wielder Lore expanded...
Like, you could even argue that Mickey plays the part of Obi-Wan... Though considering the rivalry with the Maul stand-in, maybe "Ven" Kenobi would be more accurate...
I'm just saying, if what you want is to predict anything, the Parallels are THERE.
Edit: IT JUST HIT ME. ROXAS IS STARKILLER.
Canonically the hardest hitter? Worked for and betrayed the bad guys? Dual Wielder? In love with his also-previously-evil mission-partner? Everyone's favorite character?
"THE FORCE UNLEASHED" IS LITERALLY A XION LIVES AU.
Edit 2: Actually, Ven is Luke. It's actually pretty spot-on...
Edit 3: Aqua isn't just Ahsoka. She's a bit of Padme as well, now that I think about it...

The Legend of Hana Chapter 135
Warnings: You guessed it. More angst. We’re not seeing fluff for a LONG time
Rating: SFW
Tumblr media
In the Multitude of stars twinkling in the shimmering sky over Yen Sid’s Mysterious Tower, Kairi, Xigbar, Luna, the Foretellers, the Nort brothers and their families met with Mickey and the sorcerer himself.
“Hana and Lily went missing?! Oh no! This is terrible!” Mickey said.
“Them being missing is very bad. Very bad indeed,” Master Yen Sid said.
“Especially since the man that has them is the most dangerous person in the world,” Mukuro added, making Mickey and Master Yen Sid confused.
“He calls himself the Master of Masters. The fact that he’s still around is worrisome,” Ira explained. Master Yen Sid sighed and stroked his beard.
“We must try and stay calm. We have never faced something like this before,” he said.
“Yeah, it’s really hard to be calm right now, old man!” Xigbar said, angrily as he paced back and forth.
“Xig, calm down! You’re scaring Sage!” Luna scolded as she tried to calm her crying son. Xigbar sighed and went to hold his son.
“Sorry. It’s just that the bastard has our daughters. You know what he’s done,” he said to Luna.
“I know. But you heard Master Yen Sid. We have to remain calm.” Xigbar hesitantly nodded and turned back to listen to the sorcerer.
“Kairi. This information you have brought us, it comes from Xehanort during his time as a researcher?” the old master asked.
“Yes,” Kairi responded.
“Then that means he must have been aware of this other world for quite some time.”
“But I worked with the bastard. We were somewhat close. I would’ve known about another world,” Xigbar said and the sorcerer mused for a moment.
“When I was still serving as a Keyblade Master, it was known that the ancient masters had crossed over into another world. I surmise that Xehanort looked more deeply into that world,” he said.
“The ancient Keyblade Masters…” Invi whispered.
“It can’t be us. Do you think it had something to do with Ava’s role?” Gula said. Hearing Ava’s name made Xigbar miss her. Even more than he already did.
“For now, we must reach out to those in Radiant Garden, The Land of Departure, and Japan--” the sorcerer started.
“I’m sorry, did you say Japan?” Luna asked.
“Yes.”
“That’s where my aunt Yuuko lives. Are you asking me to search for her?”
“I am tasking you and the Spirits to speak with her. Perhaps she has the answers we are looking for.”
“Yes, sir!” Luna and the other Spirits said.
“And Kairi, will you continue your training as you were before?”
“Actually, I’d like to study under Master Aqua,” Kairi said.
“I would love to train you, Kairi,” Aqua said with a smile.
“Thank you.”
“Mickey, Vanitas,” Yen Sid said, turning his head toward them.
“Yes,” the two said as they stood up at attention.
“I task the two of you with the investigation of this new world and how it is related to the ancient Keyblade Masters.”
“But how?” Vanitas asked.
“You’ll begin…in the world of Scala ad Caelum. You, Vanitas, know more about that world than Mickey. I trust you to be his guide.” Vanitas nodded and with that, everyone headed out to find some answers.
                                                          ☽✧☽✧
Meanwhile in Quadratum, Sora and Strelitzia were discussing about the world they were currently in and how to get home. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find any way to get home. It was getting to the point where Sora was starting to get frustrated.
“I should probably tell you that things are different here,” Strelitzia said.
“How so?” Sora asked her.
“Well for example, magic won’t work here. But Keyblades will work.” Sora was shocked. She could wield a Keyblade? Strelitzia saw Sora’s shocked face and summoned her Keyblade, surprising him even more.
“Woah…” he gasped.
“Yeah. Just no summoning it in the apartment. Unless it’s to check if you can still summon it,” Strelitzia said, dispelling her Keyblade.
“Understood.” Silence fell over them as they went back to figuring out ways out of Quadratum. Sora started thinking of Hana and pulled out his phone to look at a picture of the two together. At the ball before the Keyblade War. Strelitzia noticed him and became curious.
“Wow, technology has really gotten better since I was alive,” she said.
“Yeah…” Sora replied, not really paying attention.
“Soo, who’s that?”
“Hana. My girlfriend.”
“She’s beautiful. Hey, I’m getting hungry. Wanna order a pizza?” Sora didn’t answer and kept looking at the photo, wondering if Hana was looking for him. “Sora? You good?”
“U-um, I-I need a moment to myself, if that’s okay,” Sora said.
“Okay.” Sora headed to the balcony where he began to cry, missing Hana and his friends.
“I’m such an idiot! Why didn’t I listen to Chirithy and Monomi,” he sobbed. He continued to cry, until he saw something whiz by him. He couldn’t tell what it was it went by that fast. He looked around but shrugged and was about to head inside when he was tackled down by something. Or somethings. Sora looked over and found Hana’s imps on top of him.
“Huh?!” he exclaimed.
                                                         ☽✧☽✧
Meanwhile, Luna and the girls had arrived in the streets of Japan. It was way more beautiful than they could ever imagine. But it was also busier than they thought.
“Stay close,” Luna told them. The girls followed Luna through the busy streets till they arrived at what looked like an old shop.
“This is where your Aunt Yuuko lives? It looks abandoned,” Yui commented.
“Well, she doesn’t really get a lot of visitors. Besides, this isn’t any ordinary shop,” Luna winked, leaving the girls confused. “You’ll see soon enough.”
The girls walk into the shop but not even a few seconds in, Luna was attacked by two rabbit like creatures. One was white with a ruby at the top of its head while the other was black and had a sapphire at the top of its head.
“Luna!” Mukuro exclaimed and helped Luna up. The girls heard footsteps and found a young man, no older than Rumi, running up to them. He had short black hair, blue and dark green eyes, and seemed to be wearing a school uniform. He also had on a pair of glasses.
“Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! These guys are hard to get control of- wait, I know you! You’re Luna! Yuuko’s goddaughter!” the man said.
“That’s correct. You’re Kimihiro, right?” Luna asked.
“Y-yes. Kimihiro Watanuki. Is there a reason you’re here?”
“There is. And it’s very important that we see Yuuko. Is she around?” Kimihiro nodded and showed the girls to Yuuko’s office. He knocked on the door and she let him and the girls in. When they walked in, they were met with a young, tall, slender woman with pale skin and black hair that went down to her knees. She had red eyes, which seemed to match her long red kimono. She sat kind of in a lounging position, holding a cigarette holder in her hand. When she noticed Luna, she smiled at her.
“Luna! My beautiful goddaughter!” she said as she stood up. “How are you?”
“I wish I could say I was doing well,” Luna said as she hugged Yuuko.
“Oh. Please have a seat. Explain everything to me.” Luna and the girls sat down and Luna began to explain everything. How the Master of Masters had come back and had taken Hana and Lily.
“I knew it was a mistake for my husband to take that boy in,” Yuuko muttered to herself.
“What was that, auntie?” Luna asked. Yuuko sighed and looked at Kimihiro.
“Leave us,” she said. Kimihiro nodded and left the room, closing the door behind him. Once he was gone, Yuuko looked at the girls with a serious look on her face.
“It’s time I tell you the truth about myself. Along with you and your daughters, Luna,” she said.
To be continued…

OUAT Thoughts Pt.38--Episodes 12-13
I have watched through S4E13; spoilers DNI. Also, spoiler warning for anyone further behind than I am.
—YASS, Chernabog! How’s it hanging, babe? That guy is one of the best parts of Fantasia, I just adore him. I do kinda wish he’d gotten a simple draped skirt inside of those ugly fur-covered legs, though. It would match his ancient evil aesthetic.
—Speaking of aesthetics, Maleficent is suddenly rather striking. I’m so glad they’ve got her out of those hideous frilly, purple outfits where her hair was visible. That black dress with the red sparkles is gorgeous, and she’s finally got proper horns. And her dragon staff is so cool.
—Rumple hanging out with some petty b*tches is hilarious. Especially because he’s basically one himself.
—Lol Disney villains going to off-brand Taco Bell
—Aaaay, it’s Kitty from Malcolm in the Middle!
—Not a huge fan of certain parts of Ursula’s design. Her hair would look much better with her look if it were either jet-black or stark white. And I don’t get why she only has two tentacles; if she’s supposed to be an ancient octopus goddess, she should have the full octopus number. But her “real” world clothes are pretty cute.
—I hate Cruella. She’s a puppy killer. But…when it comes to her, I can’t decide whether I prefer trashy, ugly Cruella or an as-of-yet nonexistent glam, chic Cruella. Her look could be gorgeous if done right, but it’s always done in the cheapest way possible, which is part of her character. And her hair disgusts me.
—Hope she doesn’t get any ideas about Dr. Hopper’s dog.
—So the Sorcerer and the Author (which is literally one of the coolest titles in the known universe) are different people. In that case, could they just drop a couple of Yen Sid crumbs for me? I’m languishing! Also, I am fully prepared to find out that the Author is a version of Emma who has achieved near-godhood and is beyond the puny confines of time and space.
—I love that Ursula works in an aquarium. She’s not just a thousand-year-old octopus lady who happens to live in the ocean, she actually likes fishies. V cute.
—Elsa in her coronation dress and fancy hairstyle! I’m ascended, see y’all on the higher planes ✌️
—I also adore the implication that she’s the one who gave Anna away at her wedding. They’re my favorite Disney duo, I swear.
—Look at that, neither Hook nor Rumple is dead. How very swaggy.
—I’m quite interested to find out why the Blue Fairy seemed so wigged by the mention of the Sorcerer and the Author. She must know something that she hasn’t said yet about one or both of them.
—Also, what is the dealio with Snow and Charming? What the heck could possibly have happened with Cruella and Ursula in the Enchanted Forest to make them so deadly mad?
—I love that Maleficent has gone beyond a pet crow and has instead gone directly to *randomly materializes out of a murder of crows with a slurpee in my hand* (I know I saw that in a Tumblr meme at some point, but Idk what the blog name is.)
—I feel so sad for Regina. Marian is willing to step aside (which, btw, is a real gorgeous thing for her to do) and then Robin has to leave to keep Marian from dying. It’s so not fair.
—I can’t stand smoking, but I respect that the green smoke from the original 101 Dalmatians was translated into the visual effect for Cruella’s magic here. And actually, her having power to control animals is pretty boss, too.
—Glad Rumple didn’t end up expelled from Storybrooke for long. But I’m also rather anxious about whatever it is he wants to do when he finds the Author. Maybe this adventure will be like that one episode of My Little Pony where the villains have to work together and accidentally discover ✨the power of friendship✨ Because really, I think Rumple needs to be part of a petty b*tch club. Might do wonders for his soul. They could just walk around Storybrooke and say snide things about people’s fashion choices and I’d nod like *yes, this is the most important thing* And if they’re being salty about minor things like that, they don’t really need to be evil to satisfy their shadiness quota.

Liz's Birthday Present (2022) 2 "Wait for It"
Kairi, finally tired of always being left behind and the distance between her and Sora and Riku now, decides to put her destiny into her own hands and chart her own course. She goes to Sunnydale and meets a witch there, Willow, who is thinking of doing the same thing. Willow has just recently killed Warren Mears--and has been rehabilitated for that--but isn't quite sure she's quite ready to face Buffy and Xander yet. Crossover. AU. Future fic for the KH verse. Post-Buffy season six.
Wait for It
Kairi honestly didn’t know if she was doing the right thing in having left Sora and Riku. The more optimistic part of her wanted to believe that if she had stayed with them, they could have worked out their differences and all of the miles that had stood between them ever since the boys’ journeys began… but Kairi wasn’t so sure.
No matter how much she told them that she never wanted to be left behind anymore and to believe in her strength, somehow or another Sora and Riku always ended up adventuring without her. And it wasn’t just that: Sora and Riku still knew and understood each other, since they had been able to still spend some time together through all the craziness, but Kairi felt as though she could barely touch them anymore and there was no denying that that hurt.
Her two boys—who she would always love no matter what, and who she was hoping to meet up with again someday—had already filled so many books with their stories, but Kairi felt like her own had barely begun. She had to make choices for herself now and that was exactly what she had done.
When she’d gone to Master Yen Sid, spilling her heart out about all of this, he’d spoken of a world amongst the stars that he thought could help her: where some people there had had feelings similar to her own and had lived lives somewhat similar to that of Keyblade wielders. And without having to be told twice, Kairi decided that she would check out this Sunnydale.
She couldn’t deny that she was intrigued by the idea of “people like Keyblade wielders,” who weren’t that: who were surely fighting evil, but without the legendary weapons? She wondered what that would be like? And what kind of enemies would they face?
The moment she reached Sunnydale, Kairi thought she understood right away some of the things that they might fight against. She was attacked right away by some humanoid creature that reminded the redhead of the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Though instead of seaweed covering up the entirety of its body, gray tar seemed to be this monster’s vice.
It attacked her with a predator’s skill, claws trying to rake her body for any purchase it could find. And as such, Kairi was reminded of the Shadows and Neoshadows she’d fought over the years. At once, she summoned Destiny’s Embrace to hand and lunged it into the monster’s heart—just as she heard help coming her way in the distance; and saw out of the corner of her eye, what looked like fire in the palm of a redhead’s hand—and that seemed to be the beast’s weakness. Because at once, it crumbled to the ground beneath Kairi took a deep breath.
“Nice,” the older girl who Kairi had noticed before chirped, the moment she reached Kairi’s side. “That silver weapon of yours was exactly what the doctor ordered against a demon like that. So I didn’t have to save you, after all. Awesome work!”
So demons were what they faced in this world, huh? And the way this woman talked as though she was an expert on them… Kairi wondered if she was one of the ones that she was supposed to be looking for: one of the people that Master Yen Sid hinted that she find.
“This is going to sound weird,” Kairi said, stepping around the demon and praying that she didn’t get any of its disgusting ichor on her icy-pink boots as she did so. “But I think I might have been sent here to find you.”
The green-eyed woman lifted an eyebrow at that. And a ton of emotions seemed to go through her, that Kairi couldn’t exactly figure out—that almost made the Light wonder if this was actually a good idea—before she finally settled on, “Huh. I wonder if Cordy had a vision and sent you our way. How do you feel about getting a coffee at the Expresso Pump with me and telling me your story?”
And so Kairi did. And she could tell that the woman, Willow—that was her name—was definitely blown away by it.
Likewise, Kairi was amazed by a number of the things that she heard from Willow. And the miracles that the witch (for Willow was exactly that, which made Kairi think of Naminé and miss her) and her friends had accomplished numerous times to protect the people here.
“I can definitely understand you not wanting to be in your friends’ shadow,” Willow confessed. Reaching across the table to put a hand atop Kairi’s own. And Kairi smiled at that, definitely feeling like she’d found a kindred spirit here. “I snapped at Buffy that I wasn’t her sidekick at a Halloween party once, when I thought she was trying to control everything. It wasn’t pretty. Likewise… I recently did some… not so pleasant things and had to be whisked away to England after it. And I don’t know if I’m ready to face Buffy and Xander again, the way you’re not ready to face your Sora and Riku yet.”
Kairi definitely felt sympathy for Willow there. She didn’t know what the witch had done, but she could sense that the girl mostly had a heart of light and that she had good intentions. She wondered if it was anything like the things Riku and Terra had done while possessed, that they would always unfairly blame themselves for…
“Do you maybe… want to try and team up and do some things ourselves before we return to our best friends again?” Kairi ventured then, after taking another sip of the espresso that was truly the best drink she’d ever had. She felt like she could take out a million Heartless after this, and conquer the world!
Willow seemed a little uncertain at the question—no doubt what she’d done still weighed heavily on her mind, and she was somewhat self-conscious about things—but she must have seen something in Kairi’s expression. Because she squeezed Kairi’s hand and beamed at her. “I think that wacky idea might just be the best thing I’ve ever heard.”
Author's Note: Happy birthday, Liz! You said you like my Kairi stories, so I thought I’d try to do something with her for your birthday (and also because you kind of seemed to enjoy the one story I was writing that was a KH and Buffy crossover before I deleted the chapter that made it a Buffy crossover and then abandoned the story). I hope you like it. Somewhat inspired by Currantlee, who said that out of anyone in the Buffyverse, she thinks that Kairi would be the most like Willow (or something like that. It was when I was writing my one Kairi KHIV story that was largely inspired by BTVS’s Faith). Also inspired by the old Tumblr user PaopuMilkshake’s one fanfic, that has since been deleted:(

Conversation
[After they get Sora back]
Mickey: Riku did what?
Master Yen Sid: I wouldn’t let him see Sora since he is still resting from his injuries. I told him that unless he was injured, he was not allowed to stay, so he punched himself in the face and told me that he was injured.
Mickey: Well, you have to admire his...dedication.

Riku’s Christmas Wish - Riku x Reader
I’ve had this scene for a while now and recently dug it up to polish because I think it’s cute.
~~~~~
              Snow crunches beneath my boots—fresh, crisp, unmarred, and it continues to build as the storm rages on. In the distance, I can see the dim lights of the castle towards which I press. It feels like an eternity before I finally arrive at the massive doors and push my way in.
              Immediately, warmth washes across my chilly skin and the smell of fresh cookies floats in the air. Filled with swelling relief, I lean against the wall with a smile.
              Only days ago, we received an urgent mission call from Yen Sid. After much deliberation among the keyblade wielders, it was agreed that I was best suited for the job. As much as I wanted to protest, I accepted my responsibility and prepared for the mission that was likely to take me several days—including Christmas.
              Before I left, the others offered to hold off on the festivities. I really didn’t want that guilt—I knew how excited everyone was for our first Christmas all together again. At least it was supposed to be. The worst of it was facing Riku. Between his words of affirmation, I could see the disappointment in his eyes. Not only was this supposed to be everyone’s first Christmas together, but it was the first Christmas Riku and I were supposed to share as a couple. Still, as much as it killed me to give up this holiday with him, I couldn’t bring myself to get his hopes up and told him to enjoy his time with the others. Even as I was on my way out, I gave him a kiss and bid he have fun.
              I don’t know how or which of the gods was watching out for me, but I managed to finish my mission ahead of schedule. It spurred the wishful thinking I’d tried so hard to douse and, even as I neared my destination, I couldn’t admit that I had made it on time.
              But I did. It was late into the day, but I made it to the Land of Departure on Christmas.
              Eyes snap open when I hear my name. Two of my friends—one with red hair and one with blue—rush down the stairs to greet me.
              “You made it!” Kairi exclaims.
              Aqua, on the other hand, is a bit more prudent. “What happened to your mission?”
              “All done,” I hum.
              Her eyes widen. “You weren’t supposed to finish until after Christmas.”
              Understanding her surprise, I smile. “Guess I got lucky. Where’s everyone else?”
              “In the study; we’re about to start the next game.” She smiles softly. “Riku’s gonna be so happy you made it.”
              Then Kairi also grins. I’m not entirely sure I love that glint in her eyes. “Perhaps we should make some changes to our plans. Wait here.”
              I tilt my head, but Kairi drags Aqua back up the stairs. As much as I want to see Riku, I’d like to not upset the fiery red-head so I wait in the foyer as I’m told. When the two come back, Kairi’s got a bowl full of paper and, based on her matching smirk, Aqua is fully onboard with whatever’s going on.
              “Okay,” Kairi starts, leading us towards the study. “We’re gonna play a game but you’re going to wait out here until one of us comes to get you.”
              “But—”
              Aqua cuts me off. “You’re gonna love it. Just wait like ten more minutes and you can have Riku for the rest of the day.”
              “As if we’ll be able to pry them apart afterwards,” Kairi scoffs.
              Aqua giggles her agreement and the two abandon me in the hall. Miffed and impatient, I eavesdrop through the cracked door. My gaze immediately sticks to Riku who doesn’t seem as enthused as everyone else. Still, the girls have a plan and so my hands are tied.
              And finally, Kairi announces her game.
              "Okay, so we're going to draw names out of the bowl and the person who draws has to guess who it is by touch. If you guess wrong, you play truth or dare." An accusing gaze sweeps the group. "Keep it clean or you’ll be sleeping in the blizzard tonight. Let's start with Axel."
              "Alright.” He hops off the sofa.
              He’s blindfolded and then draws Terra. Though not pleased, he guesses correctly. Terra draw Kairi who then draws Ven. Admittedly, it looks fun and I can see where this plan is going; even I’m getting excited.
              The game continued until Aqua draws Riku. He seems unsure of the game and not nearly as amused at the antics, but plays anyways. Sora and Roxas crack jokes as he puts on the blindfold, but he does as he’s told and draws a paper to give Aqua. However, instead of Aqua looking at it, Kairi rushes back to the door that she nearly rips off the hinges. There’s gasps and grins as she drags me in by the arm but Aqua shushes them.
              He can hear the shenanigans going on, but Riku stands there as awkwardly as I’d expect anyone to. I give the schemers a glance, seeing them wave me on. Trying to calm my nerves, I take a deep breath and take his hands.
              “This is weird,” he mutters to himself. I would agree, but then I’d be beaten for ruining the fun. Still, Riku plays along as his fingers explore mine before sliding along my arms. Here, we find the first discrepancy.
              His brow furrows. “Pretty sure changing clothes is cheating.” His fingers pinch at my jacket. Only some of our friends wore shirts with long sleeves, but definitely nothing like my winter wear.
              “Nobody’s changing clothes,” Kairi goads. “Do you have a guess yet?”
              “No...” Hands to my shoulders, he assesses my height before moving higher. “Seriously? Nobody was wearing a scarf.”
              I literally bite my lip but everyone else has free reign to laugh.
              “Either guess or keep playing,” Aqua tells him.
              Groaning, he continues. His fingers snake into my hair. It takes everything I have not to let out a content sigh; even so, I feel the goosebumps prickling on my skin. However, he meets the hat I’d been using to protect my ears.
              Pulling it from my head, he growls, “Alright, very funny, guys. You could at least play fair.”
              "Come on, Riku. Just guess!" Sora shouts.
              "Guess! Guess! Guess!" Xion and Ven starts chanting. Getting everyone else to join in. Not gaining any ground, Riku presses his hands to either side of my face, running his thumbs across my cheeks—likely crossing out all the voices he’s hearing.
              "I don't know," he mutters, frustrated and definitely over this hazing. "Xion?"
              "Wrong! Truth or dare?!" Kairi demands.
              He sighs, dropping his hands and pinching the bridge of his nose. "Truth."
              "What do you want most for Christmas?"
              "Oh come on," he grumbles. I feel a little mean now.
              She doesn’t let up. "Answer the question."
              He growls under his breath, but gives in with a sigh and utters my name.
              “What was that?” Sometimes I forget how cruel Kairi can be.
              Much more clearly, he blurts out, “I wish _____ was here.”
              Jaw dropping, my hands press to my mouth and several people awe. In one swift motion, Kairi pulls the blindfold from his face.
              I don’t know if the heckling was worth the expression of shock but all I really know is that I’m madly in love with this man. He flinches as if he’s been struck. At first, he stares in disbelief, but the second my fingers graze his arm, he jerks me into his arms in a crushing embrace. I giggle beneath his relentless kisses, absolutely thrilled to have Riku in my arms again.
              Aqua ushers us away from the game and we plop onto the sofa, entangled in each other. Refusing to let me go, Riku continues pressing kisses against my skin.
              “Riku,” I protest. “Riku, let me take off my coat.”
              Huffing, he grips my coat and rips the thing down my arms before pulling me flush against him once again.
              "What are you doing here?" he asks, burying his face in my shoulder.
              “Oh come on. You know I would’ve done anything not to miss this, don’t you?” Fingers glide through his hair.
              His arms tighten. “I didn’t wanna get my hopes up.”
              I give a breathy laugh. “Me too.”
              Though I missed half the day, there were still plenty of celebrations to go around. Besides, it’s not like I could begrudge my lost time, not after finding out Riku’s Christmas wish. Knowing that, I couldn’t help but beam at him each chance I got—it also helped that a faint dust of pink graced his cheeks every time he caught me staring. So what I thought would be a lost holiday became one that I’ll never forget.
