can you explain why knives needed vash for his plan? is vash's power giving plants life?

So from what I gather, Vash is unique in his ability to both give and take from the higher dimension, which is the place where all plants get their energy from, and that's what humans use them for. (This is also where Conrad says their souls are instead of their bodies (possible bullshit, given the unreliable narrators we have), and also given Vash's conversation with Rem in episode 12 it's possibly connected to the afterlife???) Or, at the very least, Vash is different from most other plants, as they can only take. His power has been compared to something black hole-like, but I won't bore you with quantum physics since we don't know exactly what they mean by that yet, exactly.

In order to access and enter the higher dimension to rip souls free and shove them into the plants' bodies to birth independent plants, Knives needed to use Vash as a gate, as a tool, to open Vash up and let himself in so he could funnel that power out through Vash.

At least, that's just what I've gathered from watching Tristamp... way too many times and reading meta as I go. I'm probably a bit off in this explanation, so anyone feel free to add on anything I missed! I think we're going to get way more in-depth in the following season/s with the plot threads left hanging after episode twelve. Hopefully this makes sense! :'D

Can we talk about how Dexter is the only brunette in his family and how that is a great representation of how invisible he is to his parents? My knowledge about blonde hair and genetics might be limited, but I do know that natural blonde hair is hard to maintain and that with time, it can become brown. So probably Dexter had blonde hair, but due to the lack of care coming from his parents and servants alike, it became brown.

Or you know, you can also say that he dyes his hair to be *☆•°different°•☆* but I like my theory more 😌

So I just saw [this post] focused on Tang Shen, and the comment about her name got me thinking.

And because I'm a giant language nerd and know where to look, I decided to look up the parts of her name.

Tang is a Chinese surname and can either be in reference to the Tang Dynasty, or it can specifically be the Cantonese romanization of Deng-- which refers "to the ancient state of Deng, which existed during the Shang and Zhou dynasties in what is now either Henan or Hubei province."

Shen is a Chinese masculine name (which makes it an interesting choice for her) that apparently means 'deep thinker', 'deep thought', or 'spirit'.

All of this is to say, if we take her name as the guiding point, Shen should be Chinese. Whether that means she was an immigrant to Japan, or if she's mixed Chinese and Japanese, or any other number of possibilities is up for interpretation.

But there you go TMNT fandom: Shen should be Chinese.

okk so for my boys being from 1940s, anything related to music I have down but I have NO IDEA how life operated back then and since you mentioned it I haven't been the same since please talk to me all you want abt the '40s

imma be honest, most of my knowledge on the 40s is either about the war or the precursor to the war, so probably not the most helpful of info-remember to do your own research for extra information!

with that, some quick bullet points cuz I can’t sort thoughts concisely:

Okay so to get into the 40s we gotta go at least 10 years before that cuz that’s also important: the Great Depression hits in 1929-not just in America, but the rest of the world as well-the US supposedly suffers the worst (aside from Germany, which was in debt from the first world war and their crippled economy as a result of the treaty of Versailles). I’m assuming your story takes place in the US?-otherwise I’d probably have to do some digging to find you some facts. But yea, with the stock market crash in the 20’s, tons of people were placed out of jobs, banks closed, people started living out on the streets. Government started creating random corporations to give people jobs after 1932-FDR’s presidency.

Fun fact, the radio was around at this point, so if you wanna listen to tunes, there’s your ticket. TV was a thing, but it became more popular in the mid 40s because it was used to showcase propaganda-televised entertainment became a thing in the 50s.

Anyways, some laws were passed and stuff to give people jobs-not all of them would be considered important for you, I think, cuz most of them were environmental or economical-the Workers Progress Administration was a thing though, and it hired artists and actors and others for their talent, if that’s of any importance.

Corporations weren’t faring much better either, especially the entertainment industry. The 20s were their peak years, with film being introduced and festivals or carnivals brought in cities-but with the crash of the market and extreme poverty, not too many people wanted to spend money on amusement over food. So a lot of those industries lost money and laid off a lot of people before either shutting down or being extremely poor.

Nother fun fact-ovens and stoves existed at this time, similar to how they are today-just in case one of your guys needs to make their human pal some food on their possibly outdated technology. Telephones were also available to the public by the 20s, the landlines.

Games like Monopoly (kinda ironic that it was made during the Depression), Scrabble, Sorry, and the Game of Life (originally made in 1860) were popular at the time-plus actual sports. Yes, kick the can was a thing around this time, you can make that reference.

If you want literature, I'm told island adventure stories were pretty popular for kids at the time (you'd have to double check that one, though, cuz I'm not too sure)-Superman and other heroes were a thing in the late 30's early 40s-Donald Duck comic strips were early 30s. Comedies and dramas/romances were popular in both literature and theatre (Charlie Chaplin was pretty funny), though they had this trope of things magically working in their favor until sometime in the 20s (you're gonna need to check that one cuz again, this isn't really my strong suit).

The Depression really only evened out with the start of the war-the US needed to militarize and stock up on their artillery, which meant a ton of job openings in that department, and other ones related-car companies (yea cars were a thing-you'd have to check how accessible they are though, that's not really my strong suit in history-only thing I remember is Ford releasing a model in the 20s) started building tanks, film productions started making propaganda videos (donald duck was a common character in Disney's anti-nazi propaganda for some reason), toy companies sold toy soldiers and guns to kids to convince them to support the war effort. Propaganda had advanced after ww1, which meant bigger, more eye-catching headlines in the media and clever usage of poster layouts and formatting to persuade people. The US stayed neutral up until 1941, though it did provide resources for the Allies who were fighting Germany.

That's basically all I have about the 40s-again, most of it is about the war and the economy, so not sure how much that would help. Maybe FazCo went bankrupt during the Depression and prompted your carnival to shut down?-I can see it trying to start more locations in the MidWest or something (the Plex is in Utah, if I remember correctly, though I don't know how important that is to your plotline) and scrapped it after the Depression and the War? I dunno, take your story in whichever direction you'd like, it'd be interesting any way you make it! Headcanon: In a modern AU, Strax would be studying linguistics.

He clearly has big interest in learning (about) different registers of language and use them. (also he'd make every assignment somehow use grenades, other weaponry, and explosions as examples. Like. All his examples for certain linguistic features would come from that field.)

Middleschool Yata and Fushimi becoming friends and gaining a crush on one another. They think the other person is great and were convinced they're not good enough for the other. They constantly try to do something they think the other person would find cool to feel good enough but instead this just makes the other person feel more out of their league. When Mikoto and Munakata came in the picture in highschool they think they have competition for their crush.

Good ol’ stupid babies in love AU. Imagine things kinda go like in canon with them becoming friends, Yata of course thinks Fushimi’s amazing and Fushimi thinks Yata’s an energetic idiot (but also secretly thinks Yata is even more amazing). The two of them are always together and Yata even studies super hard so that he can get into the same high school as Fushimi, he doesn’t want to be left behind by the guy he’s so attached to. At some point Yata realizes he has a crush but he tries to keep it secret, he doesn’t want to ruin their friendship but also he kinda feels like Saruhiko must be out of his league, like sure Fushimi doesn’t have any other friends and he’s all gloomy and bad-tempered but he’s also really amazing and if other people gave him a chance they’d see it too. Fushimi of course has also realized he has a crush on Yata but tells himself there’s no point, even though he wants to cling to Yata he feels like doing that will just make Yata leave and besides who would ever want to be with someone like Fushimi. 

Even though they’re both hiding their crushes they can’t help but want the other person to look at them a little more, like Yata maybe thinking if he can be as cool as Saruhiko he’ll get up the courage to ask Fushimi out while Fushimi thinks if he can show how amazing he is maybe Misaki will be the one to say something first so Fushimi doesn’t have to worry about getting rejected. Of course since they’re both idiots neither one notices that the other is trying to show off and it actually makes things worse. Every time Fushimi does something cool that makes Yata look at him with shining eyes Yata just thinks again that there’s no way this person would ever want to be with him, while every time Yata shows off or blindsides Fushimi with honest affection Fushimi gets ever gloomier thinking Yata would never want to be with him.

Eventually they graduate and move to high school, imagine on the first day Yata’s determined that this year he’s gonna do it, he’s gonna become good enough for Saruhiko and confess his crush. That’s around the time Fushimi gets poached by the student council and suddenly he’s so much harder to hang out with because he’s always stuck with the creepy student council president Munakata who Yata totally doesn’t trust, like why is that guy always so into Saruhiko’s personal space, Saruhiko couldn’t possibly like a guy like that right. On Fushimi’s end, every time he manages to slip away from the student council he spots Yata hanging out with the school delinquent Mikoto and staring up at Mikoto with shining eyes and now Fushimi kinda super hates Mikoto on sight. The two of them still hang out but it’s very tense now because Yata’s trying to think of a way he can be cooler than Munakata (I mean for certain values of ‘cool,’ Yata doesn’t know what that nerd has that Saruhiko likes but he needs to figure it out) and Fushimi’s planning on torching their entire friendship and denying he has a broken heart all while glaring at Suoh Mikoto a lot.
