me: okay we DO see hutts (and jarjar?) eating frog-like creatures but where the fuck did the frogs come from. iirc we see some little lizard critters in ep vi but if you want them to be FROGS--

it’s likely MOST of the food on tattooine is imported from off-world, so one explanation is that the alien colonizers on tattooine just like frogs (and also if you want anakin/luke to have grown up eating them, it’s likely it’s a cheap protein source that’s easy to import). however that’s a boring explanation so i want there to be native frogs

first vital piece of information for tattooine frogs: where would the frogs get water? wookiepedia says moisture farming pulls moisture out of the air, so it’s unlikely there’s many natural bodies of water or a water table (otherwise you’d pull water from there). i also doubt there’s much rainfall bc otherwise you wouldn’t need a moisture farm. unless, of course, the constant farming of air moisture PREVENTS rain from ever happening. (learn sustainable farming, Lars family.) i’m going with “there’s rare rainfall events, which may or may not getting rarer due to farming.” earth desert frogs that have to deal with rare rain usually bury themselves between rainfalls-- and some make cocoons to prevent them from drying out! so maybe tattooine is covered in secret buried frogs??? like i bet you could make a living digging them up, like potatoes (and peel their cocoons, like bananas!). and i bet the native peoples of tattooine have ways to find them, and to make sure they’re not over-harvesting the secret buried frogs in any given area

although i bet every once in a while there’s a outbreak of confused frogs in the vaporators and moisture farmers all frantically catch as many as possible to pickle or dry them for their reserves or to sell. and i bet the eggs clog the machinery and then luke gets to clean them out and eat them, like licking cake batter from the beaters. yummy
