btw heres some tumblr etiquette for the new twitter folks (feel free to rb):
yes, your likes can be public, but things you like wont come up on your followers' dash. ALWAYS RB ART AND CONTENT YOU LIKE!!
tags are just for rambling, usually. you can add tags to help people find your stuff (ex: #____ fanart, #character, #fandom, etc.) but you dont need to do that on rbs and just random shitposts. YOU CAN ADD SPACES TO TAGS! also, click enter before adding another tag orherwise youll get one big long tag
YOU DONT NEED TO TAG THINGS AS tw//___ LIKE ON TWITTER! add it in the tags as #tw ___ or #____ tw, then people can just filter that tag! (some people may also have ____ dont look tags that they filter for their personal triggers, use those if theyre your mutual as it makes things very easy imo)
for long posts (like in-depth explanations and arguments, analyzing content, etc.) use a read more divider. this makes scrolling a lot better bc you arent constsntly scrolling past massive walls of text. (on mobile, simply do :readmore: and press enter, and on desktop, click the 3 dots and add it!)
oh my god please fucking tag x reader fics if youre gonna write them i want to strangle the people who dont tag x readers
if u think ppl on twitter block a lot get ready for this! if you have a blank blog, blocked, youre a bot. if you post anything someone doesnt like, blocked. curate your experience! people (me included) arent very lenient with blocking and tend to check blogs much more here bc its easy to do, so just be careful if u dont wanna be blocked.
please respect dnis. its not that hard like actually
you can send asks and submissions anonymously! for asks, click the "send anonymously" button (not everyone has this feature turned on though!) and for submissions, log out and send your submission, and your url will not be attached!
arguing and discourse here is much more civil and in-depth than on twitter, because we dont have the character limit. yes, some ppl will still send you d34th threats instead of articulating themselves, but thats not nearly as common!!!!
don't tag mcyt posts with #minecraft or #mineblr. those r for pretty builds and minecraft updates and stuff. if u do this u are committing a cardinal sin and mineblr WILL deal w you......
genuinely, just be yourself! yes, "tumblr humor" is a thing that exists, but people will follow you for you and your content specifically, so dont feel pressured to talk and respond a certain way. i did that at first and tbh i didnt like it!!!! youre you!!!! express that!!!
i may add onto this post as things come to mind, but thats just what i can think of that i struggled with and others ive seen have struggled with, hope this helps!!
tumblr can be hard to use, and theres not really "big accounts". everyone is just roaming and doing their own thing. there can be a learning curve, and thats ok! its hard to discover new blogs here, but after a while you can get a hang on it and its a lot less toxic than other social medias imo!!!! its very easy to curate what you want to see.

Hi Daisy! (I'm so sorry, I don't know if it's weird for me to call you that, I can stop!) How are you? I'm new to Tumblr, so I don't actually know if I've done this right. Sorry if I haven't! In your questionnaire, I said that I was too scared to message you, but I've finally done it! I wanted to say I love your work, it's so comforting and I find it immersive. Sorry if this is a stupid question, should I be reblogging fics that I like? I feel bad for not doing it, but I don't know what it is.
omg its 100% fine to call me daisy?? its not my real name but i think a lot of ppl would guess that skdfhsdf pls know that if u see this (literally anyone who follows me) its 100% ok to call me daisy!! i wouldnt have it on my blog if it wasn't <3
i'm good! tummy hurtin a lil and im feeling the lack of sleep (rewatching shinee world iv was worth it tho), but it's all good <3 welcome to tumblr u will never leave /j
also omg hi!! ur message was super sweet and im proud of u for stepping out of ur comfort zone!! pls know i don't bite (unless ppl bite first) and i'm always happy to talk to anons <3 also i'm glad i can provide comfort to you!! ur super sweet aw
absolutely not a stupid question at all tho!! a lot of writers and other cc's will say a resounding "yes" and while i do think that people should reblog fics they like, if its initially like... super daunting to do so, i think its okay to like? getting used to tumblr can be kinda hard in the beginning, but i do highly recommend reblogging fics--even if you don't have any followers btw, the engagement still means a lot to ppl!! even if ppl don't put tags or anything, it says "i like this and i want other people to see it" since likes aren't public the way they are on other websites (or at all, if you turn them off)
please don't feel bad for not doing it since you're new!! literally i think most people don't understand how tumblr functions but that's pretty normal for joining a website haha
i'll explain things under the readmore and you can let me know in another ask if you have any questions!!
so full disclosure: i'm working on desktop and things are usually pretty similar on mobile, but there's a few differences that i can try to explain if you're on mobile!! but for reblogging:
at the bottom of a post, you'll see a couple things. they're in the same place pretty much for both desktop and mobile. if a post has been interacted with (through a reply (the little bubble icon), a reblog (the arrows), or liked (heart)), it'll have notes! you can nowadays see what other people write in their replies/reblogs by clicking on the notes key and looking through the different tabs there, but some people limit their replies (the bubble will be grayed out as a result) or turn off reblogs (reblog arrows will be grayed out).
excuse the extra buttons on mine: im on desktop and i have an extension called xkit active <3 (it allows me to block posts + do quick tags when i post fics)
Tumblr media
as you can see: this post i made (which is dk uts skdfhds its the first thing i have thats not my pinned post) 48 notes, followed by a series of buttons. ignore the first two (they're from xkit), the rest are what you'll typically see on a post.
in order:
the single arrow can be used to share the post. either you an send it to other tumblrs (not all people have DMs open, and i'd honestly say ask before you DM someone if you don't know them well), or you can copy the link, share it on twitter/facebook, or do other things w the "more" button like send stuff via text n whatnot. its very possible to send things from a sideblog, if you ever have one and want to do it that way
on mobile your main blog will be at the top of the page with a little down arrow next to it: all you gotta do is click it and decide what blog you wanna send it from. on desktop:
Tumblr media
you can see the bubble next to "your message here" isn't my icon since the message would be coming from my main. all you gotta do is click that little bubble (of your own icon) and you can send things from different blogs <3
anyway!!
the little speech bubble is the button for replies. tapping/clicking it will just open up the replies tab.
reblog on both desktop and mobile will open up the tab to reblog something. if you're on mobile, though, and wanna reblog something quickly, you can press and hold. i have sideblogs so i can't confirm if only having one blog will just auto-reblog it, but with sideblogs it'll pop up 2-3 of your recently used blogs (if you have more than 3).
on desktop:
Tumblr media
this is what reblogs will look like! it's similar to posts, but the difference is just the blue "reblog" button compared to a blue "post" button. important distinction: the #tags is for tagging stuff (or, yknow, posting thoughts if you want lmao the tagging system on tumblr is kinda broken). if a post asks for something "in the tags" then you type in the tags as opposed to the main body <3
anyway, that lil heart outline is the like button <3 it just says that you like a post :) they don't get broadcast onto other people's feeds the way they do on other websites, but you can have them public or private through messing w settings
i hope this was helpful!! pls feel free to let me know if you have any questions <3

Honestly I think people who shit on tumblr are so annoying. Don’t rebl this I don’t feel like talking to any of them.
’The tag system’s broken’ - it’s definitely not perfect but if I go to my blog on a browser I can type in the url for a tag I use and find everything in chronological order from the day I posted it 6 years ago. It’s there. I can also link to it for other people to easily access. There’s an archive system; that’s amazing! Tonight I have several people reblogging like…dishonored fanfic I wrote like 8 years ago, how’d they find it, who knows, but they could! With twitter I have to google the right stupid code to type into ‘advanced search’ any time I want find things on my own twitter and can’t actually organize any of it in a way that looks neat or accessible to other people. Tags are also not part of the actual post here and so they don’t clutter it up and look awful like twitter and instagram.
’terrible for artists’ twitter uses a robot to autocrop my images and compresses them all to hell. Instagram loves a square composition and for the longest time wouldn’t allow posts from a desktop. Of the many artists I follow on twitter I barely see any them because the algorithm throttles you and you have to type out shit like ‘commissions’ and ‘patreon’ in a cipher so people actually maybe see it. Again there are problems but this is the most friendly platform to artists out of any social media if you ask me.
Multimedia! Do I wanna post a video? Do I wanna post music? Art? Do I wanna write a long thing? I can do all of that and somehow tumblr hosts all of it despite having no money. I have no idea how they’re keeping their servers afloat.
’censorship’ like…yes, the nsfw ban and the tag kerfuffle was definitely an issue but any time I say ‘fuck’ I get shadowbanned on instagram. I feel like I said ‘shit’ on twitter once and they were like nO NO! SWEARWORDS! disgusting ideologies (at a MUCH greater volume than whatever you’d find here) are ok tho.
It’s not trying to farm my information nearly as much as other social media websites. The ads aren’t desperately trying to know who I am. It’s not responding to my google searches in seconds’ time like instagram is.
I do have a lot of memories here, that would be frankly too much to try and back up now at this point. It’s naive to think I’ll always have access to them because everything fizzles on the internet eventually but…I‘ll be sad whenever they disappear with this place.
This place is where I’ve found the most support and interest for my niche work and I am so so appreciative of that and all of you who make that possible. It’s enabled me to actually like, turn towards what makes me happy. And I don’t think that would necessarily follow me if I weren’t on tumblr.
Some of you need to chill because most everywhere else is way more garbage than this.

✨tag game ✨ I was tagged by @kanzukikarin for a tag game. Thank you so much! <3 ( I hauled ass to my desktop to answer this)
1. why did you choose your url?
I was a huge Game of Thrones (HBO show) fan. Khaleesi (dothraki queen) + Riz (my college nickname) I will be changing it on my 10 year anniversary here because I am extra like that. (And I don't want to be associated to a shitty show LOL)
2. any sideblogs?
My art sideblog! I just retweet stuff there from my main. That is for the people who just want my artworks, and not the mess that is me .
3. how long have you been on tumblr?
December 6, 2011. I can still remember my very first post. It got 34 notes.
4. do you have a queue tag?
None. But I use the queue system. 10 daily.
5. why did you start your blog in the first place?
I started tumblr just to follow a contestant in America's Next Top Model (I was studying for my board examinations then, ANTM All Stars was my comfort show.) because I don't like Twitter. This platform was a just there, then I got active around late 2012-2015, with my own gif content. Then stopped again in 2016 - 2017...and then here we are again...as K-pop trash.
6. why did you choose your icon/pfp?
Not to brag, but because I look good in it. >.<
7. why did you choose your header?
Its one of my stylized artworks. Its to pique interest I guess.
8. what’s your post with the most notes?
It is this one where I was actually ratio-ed and they said the girl looked like she was having a vision ala Raven in That's So Raven. Did I mention this used to be an ANTM blog?
9. how many mutuals do you have?
16
10. how many followers do you have?
1053
11. how many people do you follow?
140. (I really need to follow more of people I'm sorry)
12. have you ever made a shitpost?
Nope.
13. how often do you use tumblr each day?
I practically live here. You see I hate Pinterest with every fiber of my being, and use the design tag here instead for inspiration for my day job.
14. did you have a fight/argument with another blog once?
No, never. Getting aggressive anons tho, that is a different story.
15. how do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts?
I don't care for it, mostly. I scroll past thru. BUT, if it is of most importance to the current landscape, I would signal boost it (and maybe give a little something.)
16. do you like tag games?
YES. Please tag me more LOL (on a mushy note, its my way of knowing if you guys are ok, especially on this hellscape ATM)
17. do you like ask games?
Yes. Except those "rate my blog" ones. I don't want to judge layouts and content.
18. which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
It depends on the community they are in I guess. Kpop wise- I guess everyone of my moots who are in it.
19. do you have a crush on a mutual?
I actually admire every mutuals I have. (crush is such a surface level term. IMO.) Their creativity, and gif blocking, and also their memes, superb. but also he knows. :P
tagging (if you would like): @shut-inyouth @spiritgungawd @kobejuankenobi @perfectenthusiasttiger @vampireyongsun @the-sera

{Dither} Yoongi / Producer!Reader {Chap.1:Ctrl+z}
Tumblr media Tumblr media
⥂𝚃̲𝚊̲𝚐̲𝚜͢ : Idol!Yoongi x Producer!Reader, fluff, mild angst, eventual smut, slow burn, reluctant friends to lovers. ⥂𝚂̲𝚞̲𝚖̲𝚖̲𝚊̲𝚛̲𝚢͢  : You’re an independent producer working to make your big breakthrough whilst trying to keep your creative integrity when you become acquainted with someone you never thought you could work with.  ⥂𝙰̲/̲𝙽͢ : Once again I’m incapable of writing an OC that isn’t tsundere af, good thing they have something in common~  ⥂𝚆̲/̲𝙲͢  : 3399
Tumblr media
You had a feeling the day would be eventful, but not like this. You thought maybe you would get a few killer tracks finished, maybe pop out of the house for some much needed air, and that would be it. But now you were sat at your desk, cellphone in hand, debating on how to reply to the message you had been spacing out over for the past ten minutes.
“There’s this big event happening tonight. I’m not sure who’s hosting the party, but a bunch of A list celebrities in the music scene are gonna be there. It would be a great networking opportunity for you, I think you should go. I know a few people who are going that are dying to work with you, and you seriously need to get out more..”
A message from a colleague of yours; Aida, who’s probably right. But that didn't make the thought of venturing out into such a crippling social climate any more tempting. So your options were: stay home and continue working and hope you hit another breakthrough and make a lot of money. Or, go out and find other artists to potentially work with and inevitably make even more money... Decisions.. You weren’t going to make that much as just a producer if you didn’t aim higher and work with bigger artists, but your quaint life now was nothing to complain about either.
Rather than stare at your now black phone screen for any longer, you opted for tossing it aside to continue working for another ten minutes before you would decide. But your plans were thwarted when you saw your phone screen flashing with another message. You tisked before picking it up, needing to know what she said next despite your tendency to not actually reply back.
“I know what you’re thinking.” Another text.
“”Why go out when I could just not?” But I’m serious. Your name is already out there in the music scene, they know your work. You just need to go out there and meet people. Your work is unique, you need to stop squandering your potential by being such a shut in.”
“Well damn.” You typed the words quickly into your messenger before hitting send, leaning back in your desk chair to watch the little dots that signaled she was typing something back.
“So, will you go?”
“I guess. Since now you’ve wounded my pride and all.” You hit send and continued typing.
“When and where”
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll pick you up at 9, ok? Just wear something cool and I’ll handle the rest.”
You sighed before tossing your phone down where you had previously. It was only 5pm so at least you had time for your original plans for the day. It wasn’t like you weren’t grateful to her for dragging you out all the time, the results were always in your favor. You just found it bothersome how little notice she would grant you. But it was probably just her knowing that giving you more time would just mean more time for you to slither your way out.
You loved the work you did, you just wished that working on bigger songs that reached more people didn’t require actually talking to them.. An email would suffice, a phone call maybe. Only meeting in the studio for recordings or to finalize the finished product, but again that could be done just as smoothly with the big wall that is your desktop separating you from whoever it was you were working with. You just wanted to work, not have small talk, not get coffee and ramble on about whatever topics had nothing to do with the actual music you were working on. You just wanted to socialize enough to solidify a concept; build a track to represent it, record it, and wrap it up with a fresh new bow to be released to the public. Simple, or so you thought.
It might be important and beneficial to get to know who you were working with for other people, but for you it just cramped your creativity. Its harder to think when you have someone leaning over you and giving input; good input sure, but input on a track you weren’t anywhere finished with wasn’t helping. It was like backseat driving, ‘yeah I’ll switch lanes when I’m ready, just gimmy a sec, jeez’.
You shook it off as another inevitable occurrence, trying to think only of the positives. If what Aida was telling you was true; and A list musicians were actually going to be there, this could be huge for you. So far you had worked mostly with the more underground hip-hop and rnb scene, helping with a few breakthrough tracks here and there. That was enough for you, and by now you didn’t need to; or more so didn’t have time, to work on your own solo music. It was just for fun anyway, and you didn’t expect your own music to gain that much traction. You wouldn’t describe it as “palatable” to the average listener, it was all experimental. A commenter once described it as “ambient electronic wailing with a slow hip-hop beat”, and you liked that description well enough.
You clicked the spacebar on your computer and let the track you were working on replay through your speakers. But just like before, you saw your phone flashing.
“You better be getting ready.”
You grumbled before typing your reply.
“I have hours Aida, I’m working rn..”
You waited on her this time, not wanting to get interrupted again.
“And how long has it been since you’ve actually left the house? You must be tripping over your leg hairs by now. Get to weed wacking, you need to look fresh like your music. THIS IS A BIG DEAL.”
“It’s not that long, damn. Who is it I’m trying to impress anyway?”
“The word on the street is that BTS is going.”
“Bullshit.”
“I’m serious! Idols y/n!”
“*Gasp* Oh my gOSh for reaLz?.. I’m not shaving for some rumored “ Idol party”. That’s not my gig anyway.”
“It could be if you’d actually try. And you already said yes so you’re going.”
“If this is true at all, how the hell are you getting us in?”
“I told you I would handle it. I was thinking you should wear that black tunic top you have.. The asymmetrical one with the hood?  And leather pants! Gotta be leather.. I think heels might be trying too hard though..”
“You taking up styling now?”
“So you’ll go?”
“Sounds like I don’t have a choice anyway.”
“You don’t. See you at 7.”
𝟷̲𝟶̲:̲𝟸̲𝟹̲𝚙̲𝚖͢
Aida had her whole frame stretched across the middle console of the taxi she insisted on calling. Pointing frantically and shouting for the driver to turn in whatever wild directions she had to wherever it was she was taking you. You sat to the left of her, behind the driver's seat. Just watching the streetlights pass by. A palm drumming on your thighs to the beat in your head. Her loud voice was easy enough to ignore, but you were beginning to regret leaving with her. You had this bubbling anxiety growing in your chest; nothing too crippling, but you could feel it and it was growing more annoying the closer you got.
“Oh! There it is! It’s just up here on the left! You can drop us off out back, -let me find my wallet..”
You turned to where she pointed, not really having noticed what part of town you were in until now.
“A hotel..? Are you sure this is the right place..?”
“Yes! Its a 5 star hotel and it’s full of ballrooms they rent out for events like this. This is the real deal y/n, not some shoddy bar like you’re use to.”
You scoffed. “Well whatever, let’s just get this over with..”
“Stop being like that- Here you go, keep the change~” She started to scurry her way out of the backseat, fiddling around to get her wallet back into her purse. You followed, sliding across the seats towards the open car door.
You stepped out, gravel crunching under your boots. Aida was already booking it towards the back entrance. Her long curls tussling about behind her and bouncing with every step. You sped up,closing the distance from behind her.
“So what’s the plan? Just waltz in? There’s a bouncer.”
She hushed you before walking right up to the guy. He wasn’t anything intimidating, just tall.. Very tall, towering over her with zero effort.
“I’m sorry miss, if you’re here for a reservation with the hotel you’ll need to go through the front entrance. We have an event going on tonight.”
You took a step next to her, taking notice of the way the bouncers eyes lingered on you.
“I’m aware.” She giggled. “The event is what I-we’re here for.”
“U-hum-” He began, chuckling and looking down at her as if he was speaking to a confused little girl. “This is invite only, do you have an invite?”
“Nope. But I have her~” She chimed, leaning into you and tipping you to the side with her cheery smile and batted eyelashes. ‘This was your plan..?’
The guard merely cleared his throat and turned to you. “And do you have an invite?”
“Nope. Sorry to waste your time, we’ll be on our way now.” Your latched an arm around Aida to drag her away but she stopped you. Typical.
“Hey! Y/n! -This is Y/N Y/L/N. Aka. CenøByte.”
He glowered. Staring at Aida with dead eyes and towering doubt.
“That producer?.. Well that’s a new one, no one's pretended to be her before..”
“HaHA!-” She jumped up, clinging onto your shoulder with her pointy nails and shaking you back and forth. “I told you people know your name!”
“I know a lot of names. It’s part of the job, but I’m guessing you can’t prove this as your actual identity.”
You huffed a ‘correct’ before turning back around to leave.
“Y/N Don’t you dare! Show him your twitter or something.” You rolled your eyes making it very obvious that your irritation was directed to her and her alone, but continued to dig your phone out of your back pocket despite it all.
“Hold on... “ You opened the app and flipped it to your account page with your username and blue check clearly there.  “Here.. I’m legit. -But this still isn’t an invite so I’ll gladly leave.”
He reached for your phone, squinting at the screen to verify.
“We’ll I’ll be damned. Hey, that one song you did with ___ was pretty dope. You know what?-” He handed your phone back and wrapped his long arms around to pull something out of his pocket. “I’m not supposed to do this, but I don’t see a real issue-” He leaned over you entirely now, pushing Aida out of the picture as he held a tiny black notepad in front of you.
“You sign this, and I’ll slip you an invitation.”
“Wait, for real..?” You deadpanned. Aida was already jumping for joy. “YES!! I KNEW THIS WOULD WORK!”
“Yeah. I’ve bounced a lot of parties by now, and I have a lot of autographs. But you? You’re so elusive I doubt anyone even knows what you look like. And you never show up to these things, The boss has even tried to invite you to a couple but no one knows your address-”
“I prefer emails...”
“- Right.. Anyway, an autograph from you’s probably pretty coveted.. Deal?”
You turned to Aida for input but she was practically screaming at you through telepathy. Her voice in your head already -’You better sign that before I beat you within an inch of your life.’
“Deal..” You stuttered out, grabbing the tiny notepad and pen from his hands and scribbling down your stage name. Something you had never been asked to do before.
“Well, here you go I guess..”
He hummed as he looked down at your scribbled writing.
“A little sloppy, you should work on that. Was this your first autograph?”
You reached up and grasped the back of your neck sheepishly before replying.
“Yeah, that obvious?”
“Yeah. But that’s ok-” His eyes crinkled as he smiled down at you. “-Just makes this more special. You two can head inside, just don’t forget you’re old pal here when you’re on magazine covers, ok?”
You gave him a weak smile. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”
He stepped aside and bowed just slightly to signal you inside. You pushed the door open; holding it and nodding for Aida to go in ahead of you. She did, a smug smile pulling at her features.
“Told you I had a plan.” She said matter of fact, swaying her long curls back and forth as she walked ahead of you down the corridor.
“You’re insane.. But what else is new.”
𝟷̲𝟶̲:̲𝟹̲𝟾̲𝚙̲𝚖͢
It was dark inside, barely lit by the ornate chandeliers that hung from the ceiling. A wide open space with several couches and a full bar that sat at the back side of the ballroom. It was filled with people, many of which you recognized from tabloids and music shows.
“Oh shit, you weren’t kidding.” You whispered, nudging Aida awkwardly.
She gasped dramatically, eyes glued on a man across the room.
“I think I found my future husband, gotta dash.” She took several steps away from you before you could react to her sudden outburst.
“Hey! Are you leaving me!?” She scoffed but turned back regardless.
“You’ll be fine, go be productive or something.”
You glowered as she made her way across the room, leaving you alone in the middle of so many strangers you didn’t want to have to deal with.
‘Should have guessed this would happen.’ You sighed, trying to ignore all the eyes you were now all too aware of. Alone and an intruder at such a high profile party, this wasn’t what you signed up for. You tried to ignore the way your chest began to tighten while making a B-line for the bar. If you had to deal with this situation you at least wanted to be happily intoxicated.
You took a seat at one of the open bar stools, closest to the wall, and tapped your nails against the counter as you waited for the bartender to acknowledge your presence. He was busy with several other guests and that was understandable, you nodded in appreciation when he signaled to you that he would be over when he was free. You tried your best to relax, swiveling your seat around so that you could lean against the wall and observe the room. You could see Aida already flirting shamelessly with the man she had spotted earlier. He looked familiar; real handsome and tall, but you couldn’t place where you had seen him before. You could almost hear her girlish giggle from over the music and you had to fight the urge to roll your eyes. You moved on, glancing about the many faces around the room. It was such a versatile mix. Idols, singers, a few actors you even knew. You spotted a couple of men you thought you recognized from Got7 but weren’t involved enough to know for sure, much less their names. No BTS though, they would be hard to miss with how many billboards and TV appearances you had seen them on. But you could gloat to Aida about how wrong she was on that later.
You sighed again.
This really wasn’t your scene. What was she expecting you to do here anyway? Find an artist you were compatible with and work together? Was anything ever that simplistic? You didn’t know these people and they sure as hell didn’t know you, and starting conversations with strangers wasn’t exactly your strong suit.  You had half a mind to just up and leave when someone grabbed your attention. A man slumped into the stool next to yours, waving the bartender over immediately. That already gave you a twinge of frustration. There were plenty of seats not next to you, and you were clearly waiting first.
“Never seen you before.”
You hummed in reply.
“Who are you?” His tone was so dry it gave you the urge to just ignore him and move on. Instead you bit back your annoyance; this wasn’t the place to be such a hot fuse.
“Does it matter?”
“Ya. Kinda. Should you even be here?”
“Probably not.” He lifted a brow at you before taking a slow sip of his whisky.
“Then how the hell did you get in?”
“I signed an autograph.” You spoke plainly, not wanting to elaborate.
 He raised a skeptical brow.
“Who’s?”
“My own?”
He hummed and nodded before taking another slow sip.
“Are you really not going to tell me your name?”
“Its CenøByte. Doesn’t change much, does it?’
“ CenøByte ?”
You tilted your head down in a nod.
“Are you.. That producer?”
“Well yeah. What, is there someone else with that name? Dang, and I thought I was original.”
He scoffed at you just as the bartender was coming back around.
“We’ll I’d sure hope not. You really need an upgrade.”
You caught yourself mid eye roll as you moved to give your order. The bartender gave you a bright customer service smile before leaning in.
“-Sorry hun, what’ll you have.” You cringed at the name.
“Just a whisky.” His face fell.
“Oh, I’m sorry! No can do -I just poured the last of it. Is there anything else I can get you?” Of course. ‘What kind of idol party isn’t fully stocked anyway..’
You sighed. “A bourbon then.”
“You’ve got it!” He smiled again before dipping away to make your last resort option. You glanced back at the man next to you, him eyeing you knowingly. Glass of whisky in hand.
“Sorry- “
“-Don’t. And what is your stage name anyway, since you think mine is so outdated.” You quipped, drumming your fingers against the counter impatiently as you waited.
There was a look in his dark eyes that you couldn’t quite read.
“You crash a high profile party and you don’t even know the guests? Cute. So whatever could you be here for then, hm?”
If he wasn’t already getting on your last nerve, he certainly was now. But you played the game anyway. After all, Aida did want you to socialize. No one said you need to be nice about it.
“The whisky of course, but we know how that went.”
There was something familiar about his smile, sly but sweetened by his soft features. Something about his hair too, the way he had the underneath shaved but his long bangs swept just along his brow. You were sure you'd seen him on tv before but you couldn’t place where or with who. Not that it matter to you anyway, he stole your whisky so therefore he was irrelevant.
“Then I guess you’ll be leaving soon.”
“Oh gosh, am I bothering you? I heard all you Idol types were assholes behind the scenes but this is truly something.” The words came out before you could stop yourself. Thankfully the bartender came with your drink and a little straw you didn’t much need. He set the glass down in front of you, giving you a smile and a wink before he rushed back over to his other guests.
“If you don’t know my stage name, how do you know I’m an idol?” You met his playful gaze with laxed irritation.
“You’re right.-” Your smirked, stirring your bourbon before looking him dead in the eye to continue. “You’re too scrawny to be an idol.” The way his jaw dropped in shock made your night, him nodding as he took another sip.
“Ok bitch, damn. Maybe that should be your stage name.” His tone was playful despite his words, and it managed to make you smile for the first time in a long while. There was a glint in his eyes when he regarded you. His name was right on the tip of your tongue..
You downed the rest of your bourbon before speaking again.
“Bitch, huh? Soo creative. You must be a producer.”
“I am.. Among other things.” Another sip.
His name had to be something short. Something catchy. Something with an A in it? Maybe a D?
“And my stage name is Suga, for the record.”
Yikes.

⥂𝙰̲/̲𝙽̲-̲𝟸͢: Hope this was somewhat enjoyable ^.^ , I’ve had ideas for this fic for a long time now so I figured now was a good time to start posting it. And any feedback/interaction would be much appreciated <3

Vmware Fusion Windows 10
Ok.. I’m so ecstatic.. a quick blog post must be written…
The Product manager of VMware Fusion, Michael Roy, had a classic “One More Thing” item in his VMworld presentation. The presentation was “What’s New with VMware Workstation and VMware Fusion”.
Unlock the value of any cloud and accelerate the delivery of modern applications with VMware Cloud. Bare-metal hypervisor. VMware Fusion: Powerfully Simple Virtual Machines for Mac VMware Fusion Pro and VMware Fusion Player Desktop Hypervisors give Mac users the power to run Windows on Mac along with hundreds of other operating systems, containers or Kubernetes clusters.
While running a Big Sur macOS guest, he showed “Metal Support” working without a hitch… Now we have been told for years that we cannot get 3D Acceleration in a macOS guest. Seeing this on the list of “things to come” was already pretty great. Something to look forward to. During that same presentation he also showed the .vmx settings in order to get that working. Once the feature lands…
Who wants to wait?
Tumblr media
So of course, immediately after the presentation I had to try. No matter that it is only supposed to be working in a future version of VMware Fusion 12.0. After adding the .vmx settings from the presentation I got a “Invalid configuration” error (or something along those lines). OK, sad panda. But … silly me did not look at the vmware.log file. Today I was poking Michael a bit on twitter and asking about how well Metal works on Big Sur beta 9 and that it is “so hard to wait” and he tells me “but you can try it yourself already”… 😮
OMG.. that’s when I realized that I had missed a detail..
It’s all in the details
Also my host wasn’t running Big Sur yet (I had only run it in a VM) … so… next hour or so I was frantically busy installing Big Sur Beta 9 on my 2014 Mac Mini and YES… IT DOES WORK and it is SOOOO SMOOTH
This is the best thing since sliced bread.
Vmware Fusion Metal
THANK YOU VMware Fusion team!
In summary
Tumblr media
This is not an officially released feature, treat it what it is: Experimental Required: minimum of macOS Big Sur as host OS Required: minimum VMware Fusion 12.0 Guest OS support: minimum of macOS Big Sur as guest OS (earlier macOS versions are missing the GPU paravirtual kernel extension for this – AppleParavirtGPU.kext. Unless apple steps in here and releases that for earlier macOS versions, it likely isn’t coming to earlier guest OS’s) You have to add the following lines to the .vmx file of your VM in order to test this: svga.present='FALSE' appleGPU0.present='TRUE' appleGPU0.screen0.width = '1680' appleGPU0.screen0.height = '1050'
Vmware Fusion Metal Api
To be honest I don’t even have the lines with width and height, but that’s how you can define that for now. It will only get better from here on once it is officially supported.
Tumblr media
Update 2020/11/13: Another tip from Michael Roy (thanks Mike) is to update your VMware Tools to 11.2
Vmware Fusion Metallic
Now that you are here. Please check out our product “Vimalin“. It has been designed for making your life easier to get good backups of your VMs. We support VM’s running in VMware Fusion, VMware Workstation and VMware Player.

CORSETS AND STRIPED STOCKINGS: OUTFITTING THE ASYLUM FOR WAYWARD VICTORIAN GIRLS by She Fights Like A Girl
These articles are best viewed on desktop, but are mobile friendly. Please excuse any strange formatting on your phone browser or the Tumblr app.
This article was longer than intended and image-heavy, so it’s been split into two parts.
PART V: AN ASYLUM MUSICAL
“And if I end up with blood on my hands, Well, I know that you’ll understand ‘Cause I fight like a girl.” - Fight Like A Girl (2014)
And now we're back to the relatively recent past, when this blog was in its infancy and the fandom couldn't decide whether to stick with the forum or run rampant on Tumblr. Fight Like A Girl (the album) was still being recorded, but Emilie did a few live dates Down Under and decided to feature the title song from the unfinished album.
To my understanding, the Harvest Festival was another one of those concerts where the show was considerably downsized because of the cost of shipping props and set pieces. But where the South American tours hadn’t pulled back in the wardrobe department, the Harvest festival did. Emilie and the Crumpets performed in one costume for the entire set. But to make up for the lack of glam, EA debuted the first costume of the FLAG era.
youtube
This costume was worn for the cover art of Fight Like A Girl, and acted as the signature corset for the very first Fight Like A Girl World Tour (2012).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Asylum Secrets: All of my costumes over the years have been made to look as though someone had been murdered in them and come back from the dead to enact a fabulous revenge. To achieve this, I have employed techniques from melting fabrics with an industrial strength heat gun to spraying them with solutions that no human should ever breathe. In the case of the corset pictured, I burned it mercilessly with sticks of incense before painting the fabric to make it look moth-eaten.” - EA on the creation of the FLAG corset (June 25, 2018)
Speaking of the 2012 FLAG World Tour! While there were a lot of changes from The Door Tour and Harvest Festival, this tour is probably best remembered as a transition phase between eras. There were new costumes, but… the Rat Queen still introduced the show with 4 o’Clock. There were new set dressings, but… the shadow scrim was still main stage center. The new corset was mixed in with the Rat Queen ensemble and the structure of the show hadn’t changed terribly. New, but… kinda not?
Except for that Warrior Mohawk, of course.
Tumblr media
Upper: WVC content / eBay listing photo. Lower: Making of the Warrior Mohawk from Emilie’s Flickr account.
This is the only tour where Emile wore a mohawk for the entirety(-slash-majority) of the show. Later concerts would see her removing it after the third song. There was some slight skepticism in the fandom with its debut, sparking discourse about everything from cultural appropriation to thematic relevance, but EA didn’t make much comment on the criticism.
“[The Warrior Mohawk] signified the transformation from victim to warrior. I feel that it is important for me to let go in order that I may go on to transform yet again and create new bits of wearable magic to surprise you with... This headpiece symbolized the birth of a new era in the Asylum…. This is the headdress of a tribal Queen…” - EA, 2012 eBay auction description.
“The Mohawk headdress represents the tribal, wild element of the sisterhood that formed during the imprisonment of the inmates, and shows that, once we escape and are on the rampage to take down our oppressors, we have indeed transformed from individual, helpless victims into a strong and beautifully terrifying tribal warriors.”  - EA for Natalie’s World, 2013 (x) (x)
Another costume that debuted on this tour was the MC of the Ophelia Gallery, who had his own brand-new number: Girls! Girls! Girls!
Tumblr media
And as for its history...
Tumblr media
(My best guess is that this photo originated in 2009, based on her hair.)
This character is a hint at the structure of the tour (and album) to come, where it would be less about the mad girls existing inside the Asylum and more about the story of how they got there, and what happened once they were interned. Allow me to stray from the costuming topic for just a moment…
A TANGENT: OF STAGE SHOWS AND ASYLUM CONTINUITY Spoiler filled ramblings of a long-time fan.
I’ve got a running theory that The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls, in all its forms, runs in parallel to the concerts. But they match each other in reverse. [Spoilers for the book to follow.]
Emilie’s first concert of the Opheliac brand was in a small venue in Chicago, alongside Lady Joo Hee. In The Asylum… book, Emily-with-a-y’s final days in the Asylum were spent with Sachiko (a character based on and formerly named Joo Hee).
The Opheliac shows of 2007-2011 were all about the women in an Asylum singing songs and welcoming others home. Cannibals, ballerinas, pyrate captains, nymphomanics -- they all ran rampant with no apparent oversight except from Emilie herself. Rats crept and crawled onstage unbothered; toys, crumpets, and cupcakes were in abundance, often served alongside “tea,” and there isn’t a single cell door in sight.
Especially in the earliest days of the concerts, the set design had an emphasis on appearing hand-made -- not only because it was, but because it should be for these girls. This was the world EA branded for herself: a world of freedom, without judgement, earned by their own hands.
In The Asylum… book, after the Inmates take over and kill the doctors, this is very much what they do: impersonate medical professionals and welcome sick and not-so-sick girls home to protect them, nurture them, and give them the best life that the Victorian Age fails to do. They take over the Asylum and make it their own.
Then in the FLAG performances (2012-2014), the storytelling shifts. EA’s Asylum world is no longer loosely themed with inmates running amok, but adheres to a more rigid storytelling structure, detailing the struggles and despair of the girls locked up in The Asylum(-with-a-capital-T). It mirrors the bulk of the content in The Asylum… book. The carefree, whimsical stage dressings shift to bars -- a representation of the cells and gates in The Asylum. There might be a bear tied to a dreary grey harpsichord; you might even see a single rat scratching about. But they don’t have dominion here. There’s no freedom. Just the story of the girls trapped behind the bars.
And now we’re stalled on both sides of the street. We’ve met in the middle. The concerts started at the end of the book, and ended at the beginning.
Ok, I’ll put my soapbox away. Let’s get back on track.
BACK TO BUSINESS
Where were we?
Oh, yes: Girls! Girls! Girls! and new costumes.
So let’s jump forward a little more, because there isn’t much else to say about Emilie’s costume style in the 2012 FLAG World Tour. Moving on to the 2013 Fight Like A Girl: North American Tour (and following European and Australian tours), a brand new show was brought to the stage. Full new stage set-up, new costumes, and a full new setlist.
A costume I’ll be referring to as the “armored corset” replaced the moth-eaten FLAG ensemble in the opening number. Both Maggots and Veronica were given new costumes as well, replacing the costumes they had worn for years.
Tumblr media
Armored Corset, with varying amounts of sparkled (2013)
Tumblr media
Maggie Lally; Captain Maggot / Captain Maggots
Tumblr media
Veronica Varlow; The Naughty Veronica
The show design of this tour had Emilie in the armored corset with the mohawk for the two opening numbers, Fight Like A Girl and Time for Tea. The mohawk and the armored plates on her chest and hip were removed during the 4 o’Clock Reprise, leaving her without her armor for What Will I Remember? as the narrative moves back to the beginning of the story, before the “Uprising.”
youtube
On the subject of the corset: structurally, it was outfitted with snaps to attach the armor and allow for easy removal (see corset detail above, bottom right). The mohawk proved a more difficult challenge to remove, as it was securely clipped, pinned, and secured into EA’s hair. This ended up being corrected in the redesign that produced Mohawk 2.0.
Back to the show! By the time we get to Veronica’s Dominant fan dance, EA has removed the armor corset completely in the interim to prepare for the Girls! Girls! Girls! costume change. After Scavenger, the entire cast changes into Asylum Inmate Rags to perform Gaslight and The Key, and then changes back into full costume for the finale. Emilie wears the full FLAG ensemble from previous tours to close out the show, with varying headdresses.
But I’m skipping over something important.
The Scavenger.
Inspired by Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal, The Scavenger, a vulture-esque representation of Dr. Greavsely, appeared onstage for Scavenger.
Tumblr media
“This is the start of the original costume @maggotmagpie wears in our show, the one Greavesly wears in #AsylumMusical will be bonkers…” - EA on the Scavenger (February 7, 2016)
Tumblr media
EA on Twitter/Twitpic 2012 (x)
The Scavenger was usually worn by Maggots as part of a stilt-walking performance, but if the venue couldn’t or wouldn’t allow for stunts onstage, Emilie would appear alone in the costume for the number.
Scavenger has plenty of different “shows” (A show, B show, and C show for my theme park friends), with “A Show” being Captain Maggot on stilts.
youtube
youtube
Note: The Atlanta show featured here is a bit strange, as it uses the Stage Screen and the Asylum Bars during a tour that doesn’t feature the former. Emilie also isn’t in the normal costume for this number, using a personal scarf to cover her bloomers and bra.
“B Show” would be Emilie performing as the Scavenger, due to venue restrictions. This was actually the way Scavenger debuted, until Maggot’s first performance later in the tour. (See pictures and even more info here.)
“C Show” would be Moth’s performance in the final set of Fight Like A Girl tours, as seen below:
youtube
(There’s also “D Show,” (ha) which is this random dude performing as The Scavenger. I’ve yet to figure this out, but my guess is it was a technician stepping in at the last moment or a friend of EA from Oakland.)
Last, but not least, are the Asylum Rags. You’d think there wouldn’t be much to say here, but there is. Click on the continue link below to learn more about tattered costumes and the rest of the FLAG era, because Tumblr only allows 10 pictures per post.

If you have recently started looking for employment after years out of practice
If you have recently started looking for employment after years out of practice, you're likely having that"uh oh" moment in which you don't quite remember where--or how--to begin.
It is OK, we've all been there.
After I have covered it all, the work hunt will immediately transform from something frightening to something you can totally handle.  Trust me, we've got your back.
1.
If you have been out of school for some time and your resume nonetheless lists your first internships, you're likely better off creating one from scratch.  Once it is up to speed, you're going to want to tailor it, measure your bullet points, and cut it down to one page.  And yes, you'll need to go through this process for every new place you find.  Mostly because the hiring supervisor's only giving you half an hour --unless you give them a reason to stick around more.
Oh, and that goal statement must proceed.  (Unless you're changing careers, in which case, check out the summary statement.)
2.  Customize Your Cover Letter, Too
For starters, this means you have to address it into some person.  (And no, that individual's never named,"To Whom it May Concern.")  And that it must open and close with attention-grabbing lines.
Here is the easiest template for you going.
3.  Update Your LinkedIn Profile--and then Really Use It
LinkedIn is your new preferred form of social networking when it comes to finding work.  You probably have a profile, but now you would like to craft a great overview that sums up who you are, your specialist experiences, and your future ambitions.  You also want to customize your headline, connect with people you know (and don't know, but respect ), and also attach some of your personal work, such as printed articles, advertisements, or media releases.
And yes, you can even make it stand out more using an eye-catching desktop photo.
After all of your materials are in sequence, you finally have the opportunity to talk to fellow LinkedIn members.  When reaching out to some stranger, customize your message while keeping it short and to the point.
4.
As soon as a hiring manager looks at your resume, he or she immediately Googles you (OK, perhaps not immediately, but when he or she's interested, it is going to occur at some point).  Which means that everything on your own Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, as well as Pinterest is instantly a part of your program.
So how can you manage your social websites for career achievement?  Step one is making certain that all public platforms are specialist.  That doesn't mean you only share the newest from Forbes.  But it does mean there's nothing (nothing!)  That could be interpreted poorly.  When in doubt, change your settings and make them private.
Step two is the interesting part--the area where you get to impress anybody searching for your online presence.  While we advocate building your personal portfolio (which isn't as hard as it sounds), we also suggest that you make sure your bios send the right message --out of your LinkedIn summary to all those 160 characters on your own Twitter profile.

5.  Network (and Network More)
So you're going to need to get out and do a little networking.  I saw you shudder--but fear not, networking comes in all forms, so regardless of if you're introverted or extroverted, there's always a means for you to get in touch with the right men and women.  Emphasis on the right way.
You will want to begin by reaching out to your network and letting them know you're looking for a new task (here is a great template for that email).  Then, the uncomfortable part, asking strangers for help.  It is easier than you might imagine!  By way of example, this email template will get you a meeting with almost anyone you ask.  The goal here is to set up informational interviews (a.k.a.( coffee dates) to not only catch your foot in the doorway, but also find out more about companie you're interested in and find the right fit.
When there's someone you met at a party (or through a friend of a friend of a cousin) who you think could help you out, there's nothing wrong with politely following up and asking for their advice.  No matter who you know, almost anyone can develop into a valuable career connection with some genuine effort.
6.  Be Deliberate When Applying Jobs
1 common misconception about the search is that you should apply to as many jobs as possible, but this is definitely not true.  Instead, you want to spend some time doing your own research, filling out your applications, and only applying for positions you're really qualified for and interested in.  (Although there are ways to get in the door if you're only slightly under-qualified, or possibly a little too over-qualified.)
Note: A big reason it is better to aim your search rather than apply aimlessly is as your program must undergo an ATS first--meaning that a robot will browse through your materials before a human does.  There's a means to past that stupid bot, but it takes a little effort on your end.
And if you're in a unique position--such as changing careers, returning to work after taking time off to raise children, or rebounding from being laid-off--know that you're going to need to take a few added steps.
7.
Now, before you walk into that meeting, you should practice the way you'll answer some common questions.  You also want to have in your repertoire a collection of tales you can share your previous experiences and how you conquer obstacles.  And when the interviewer goes on to ask you in the event that you have any queries, you'll want to come prepared with several excellent ones.  Basically, this is your chance to show the hiring supervisor who you are and why you would be a great fit for the business.
When that's over, you're down to the final actions.   No, really, those few lines can make all of the difference.  And in the event that you still haven't heard back after two or three weeks, consider following the hiring supervisor to show you're still interested in the position.
8.  Bear in Mind That This Procedure Takes Time
You'll probably begin your hunt super-excited to get started.  Then it is going to drag on and off --and you will find excuses to stop.  Do not!
This is a very long process--especially in the event that you know exactly what you want (which is great!) .  Your program must capture the attention of active recruiters, hiring managers, and yes, some robots.  Trust me, I know it's exhausting.  But the more effort you put in, the greater your chances of getting that interview.
My advice to you?   And on the times once you truly feel like throwing in the towel, do.  Not permanently, but for that evening.    The listings will still be there in the morning.

If you've recently begun looking for employment after years out of practice
If you've recently begun looking for employment after years out of practice, you are likely having that"uh oh" moment where you do not quite remember where--or how--to begin.
It is OK, we have all been there.
After I have covered all of it, the work search will immediately transform from something scary to something that you can totally handle.  Trust me, we've got your back.
If you've been out of college for a while along with your resume nonetheless lists your first internships, you are likely better off creating one from scratch.  Once it is up to speed, you are going to need to tailor it, quantify your bullet points, and cut it down to a single page.  And yes, you'll need to go through this procedure for every new position you find.  Mostly because the hiring supervisor's only giving you half an hour --unless you give him or her a reason to stick around longer.
Oh, and that goal statement must go.  (Unless you are changing careers, in which case, have a look at the summary statement.)
For starters, this means that you have to address it to a person.  (And no, that person's never named,"To Whom it May Concern.")  And that it should open and close with attention-grabbing lines.
Here's the easiest template for you going.
LinkedIn is the new preferred type of social media when it comes to finding work.  You probably have a profile, but you would like to craft a fantastic overview that sums up who you are, your professional experiences, along with your future aspirations.  You also want to personalize your headline, join with people that you know (and do not know, but admire), and even attach some of your own work, such as printed articles, ads, or media releases.
And yes, it is possible to even make it stand out more with an eye-catching desktop picture.
After all of your materials are in sequence, you now have the opportunity to chat with fellow LinkedIn members.  When reaching out to a stranger, personalize your message while keeping it brief and to the point.
Get Your Online Presence in Order
The moment a hiring manager looks at your resume, he or she immediately Googles you (OK, perhaps not immediately, but when he or she is interested, it will occur at some point).  This means that everything on your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, as well as Pinterest is instantly a part of your program.
So how do you manage your social media for career success?  Step one is making certain that all public platforms are professional.  That does not mean that you merely share the newest from Forbes.  But it does mean there's nothing (nothing!)  That could be interpreted badly.  When in doubt, change your settings and make them private.
Step two is the interesting part--the area where you get to impress anyone searching for your online presence.  While we advocate building your own personal portfolio (which isn't as hard as it sounds), we also suggest that you make sure your bios send the ideal message --from the LinkedIn summary to those 160 characters in your Twitter profile.
Network (and Then Network Some More)
So you are going to need to get out and do a little networking.  I watched you shudder--but fear not, networking comes in all forms, so no matter if you are introverted or extroverted, there's always a way for you to get in touch with the ideal people.  Emphasis on the ideal way.

And if you are in a exceptional position--like changing careers, returning to work after taking time off to raise kids, or rebounding from being laid-off--know that you're going to need to take a few extra steps.   LinkedIn is your new preferred form of social media in regards to finding work.  You probably have a profile, but now you would like to craft a fantastic overview that sums up who you are, your professional experiences, and your future aspirations.  In addition you want to customize your headline, join with people that you know (and do not know, but admire), and also attach a number of your own work, such as published articles, advertisements, or media releases.
And yes, you can even make it stand out more using an eye-catching desktop photo.
After all your stuff are in order, you now have the chance to chat with fellow LinkedIn members.  When reaching out to a stranger, customize your message while keeping it short and to the point.  And remember, even though you're on the internet, you still need to keep it professional.  Get Your Online Presence in Order
As soon as a hiring manager looks at your resume, he or she promptly Googles you (OK, maybe not immediately, but when he or she's interested, it will occur at a certain point).  Which means that everything on your own Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, as well as Pinterest is instantly part of your application.
So how do you handle your social websites for career achievement?  Step one is making certain all public platforms are professional.  That does not mean that you merely share the newest from Forbes.  However, it does mean there is nothing (nothing!)  That may be interpreted poorly.  When in doubt, change your settings and make them personal.
Step two is the interesting part--the part where you get to impress anyone searching for your online presence.  While we advocate building your own personal portfolio (which is not as difficult as it seems ), we also advise you to make sure your bios send the right message --out of your LinkedIn summary to those 160 characters on your own Twitter profile.
 Network (and Then Network More)
So you're going to have to get out and do some networking.  I saw you shudder--but fear not, networking comes in all forms, so no matter if you're introverted or extroverted, there is always a means for you to get in touch with the right men and women.  Emphasis on the right way.
You'll want to begin by reaching out to your own network and letting them know you're looking for a new job (here is a fantastic template for this email).  Then, the more uncomfortable part, asking strangers to help.  It's easier than you might imagine!  For example, this email template can provide you with a meeting with nearly anyone you ask.  The goal here is to set up informational interviews (a.k.a., coffee dates) to not only catch your foot in the doorway, but also find out more about companie you're interested in and find the right fit.
When there's someone you met at a party (or through a friend of a friend of a cousin) who you think could help you out, there is nothing wrong with politely following up and asking to get his or her guidance.  No matter who you know, nearly anyone can develop into a valuable career relationship with a few genuine work.
 Be Deliberate When Applying Jobs
One common misconception about the research is that you should apply to as many jobs as you can, but that is definitely not the case.  Instead, you want to spend time doing your own research, filling out your applications, and only applying for positions you're actually qualified for and interested in.  (Though there are ways to get in the door if you're only slightly under-qualified, or even a bit overly over-qualified.)
Note: A big reason it is far better to aim your search instead of apply aimlessly is as your application has to get through an ATS first--meaning that a robot will browse through your stuff in front of a human does.  There's a means to beyond that stupid bot, but it requires some effort on your end.
And if you're in a unique position--such as changing careers, returning to work after taking time off to raise kids, or rebounding from being laid-off--know you're going to have to take a few added steps.
Now, before you walk into that meeting, you should practice how you'll answer a few common questions.  You also want to have in your repertoire a collection of tales you can share your previous experiences and how you conquer obstacles.  When the interviewer goes to ask you in the event that you have any questions, you're going to want to come prepared with several good ones.  Basically, this is your chance to show the hiring supervisor who you are and why you would be a great fit for the business.
When that's over, you're down to the final steps.   No, actually, those few lines could make all of the difference.  And in the event that you still have not heard back after a couple of months, then consider following the hiring supervisor to show you're still interested in the situation.
Bear in Mind That This Process Takes Time
You'll probably begin your hunt super-excited to begin.  Then it is going to drag on and on--and you will find excuses to stop.  Do not!
This is a long process--particularly in the event that you know exactly what you want (which is great!) .  Your application has to capture the attention of active recruiters, hiring managers, and yes, some robots.  Trust me, I know that it's exhausting.
My advice to you?  Keep your head up, and remember that it is not a race--nothing worthwhile happens overnight.  And on the days when you truly feel like throwing in the toweldo.  Not forever, but for this evening.  You're working hard and you deserve a rest.   The listings will still be present in the morning.
