Hey, hope you don't mind me asking, I don't want to pressure you, but I was wondering about your narnia au, love your writing, and hope your having a good time

narnia au is something that I ever so occasionally add to whenever I’m in a sentimental and wistful mood - which I have been watching an unreasonable amount of call the midwife lately lmao

so here’s a snippet - 

--- “We all have ghosts, Five.”

“Klaus can literally see ghosts. I think if Dad was hanging around, the whole house and half the city would know about it by now.”

Susan gives him a disappointed look that makes him look away, out the window. “You know that isn’t what I meant, and you know it.”

“If anyone has a monopoly on ghosts, it’s my brother.”

Susan sighs, reaching up to cup Five’s cheek in her hand. Her skin is soft, it doesn’t feel like tissue paper against his cheek but it feels delicate, fragile. He can feel the way her fingers shake ever so slightly, stabilizing against his jawbone. “Oh, love. We don’t choose the ghosts that haunt us, and how we live with them until we can put them to rest.”

“My ghosts are my own fault. I was the one that killed people. I was the one who said that my siblings were more important than anyone else, than anyone else’s siblings.”

Susan taps her fingers against his cheek, “Oh? You killed your father? You hadn’t told me that one yet. Good, bastard deserved it.”

It’s enough to draw a startled laugh from his throat, “No! I mean, maybe I should’ve, but Dad died thanks to his own stupidity not mine, thank you. That’s one thing I won’t take the blame for.”

Susan hums, leaning back and taking her hand from his cheek to reach down and grasp his hands between them again.

Fire hesitates, looking down at their entwined hands so that he doesn’t have to look at Susan in the eye. “Sometimes I wake up and I forget, just for a minute. I wake up thinking that I have to get up, because Dad hated us being late for breakfast. He’d give us a swat with a ruler for every minute we were tardy. Allison always teased me about being late even though I could jump, but he was always twice as mad when I did that.”

“It must be a relief to realize you can lie in.” Susan smiles, but Five can’t smile back.

“No. There’s a moment in the morning when I think Dad is still alive, and that’s terrible, but in the same moment I think I’m going to go downstairs and my siblings are going to be standing at attention around the table. I think that I’ll see Klaus trying to kick the back of Ben’s knees without Dad noticing, that I’ll see Vanya hiding a book in her cardigan, I’ll see Luther’s stupid judgemental face even though Allison was late more times than me and she never got his stupid faces. And then I remember all over again, and I lose them all over again.”

Susan looks at him with sad eyes. 

“Is that why you moved to America?” Five asks, shaking his head to try and ignore the stinging between his eyes, “So you wouldn’t get stuck in memories so much?”

“Sometimes.” Susan says slowly, “I won’t say that it wasn’t a factor, that I didn’t think about it. That I don’t think about the English countryside and think of Lucy with mud on her face and Edmund trying to put tadpoles down the back of Peter’s shirt.”

“Klaus put spiders in our beds when he was mad at us. It only ever scared Luther, though. I think Vanya just cried because she thought she squished one by accident.” Five whispers, and Susan graces him with a smile. “I thought about that, in the apocalypse. I ate spiders, sometimes, when I could find them. I always thought of Vanya crying when I did it.”

“Lucy scolded Edmund something fierce over it as well.” Susan shakes her head at the memory, “She was in tears when Edmund pointed out that people ate frogs, but I think they were more angry than anything else. He had a bruise for weeks where she thumped him, yelling about how we didn’t live in France.”

They spend a little while in silence, taking a moment for themselves to remember their respective siblings. 

Susan pats Five’s hands gently, “I was a bit like you, you know, when I came back the first time. Not right away, when we were at the professor’s house, but when we went back home. I hadn’t realized how much I’d forgotten.”

“Forgotten?”

“About home! I went back up to my room, and there were all the things I’d forgotten. My collection of hair ribbons was still on the dresser. My favorite ones were a royal blue, I’d thought I looked so distinguished with them in. I’d forgotten all about them, until I saw them on that dresser.” Susan pats his hand, looking faintly wistful.

“My room looks the same as well.” Five admits, “Exactly the same. It threw me off, at first. It was all rubble in the apocalypse, I didn’t even think about it until I had to go upstairs to get my uniform. My books were still on the nightstand.”

Susan nods sagely.

“At least, I think it’s exactly the same. I don’t remember, is the problem. If - if my siblings moved stuff around, or took anything away, or - or anything like that, I don’t think I’d know. I think it bothers me, that I don’t remember.” Five shakes his head, “It’s been so many years. There’s so much I might have forgotten, but how will I know I’ve forgotten it?”

Five can’t help the affronted look that settles on his face when Susan just shrugs. His mulish expression must be terribly amusing, because it makes Susan’s eyes twinkle with laughter.

“It’s important to remember the past.” Susan tells him gently, the twinkle never fading, “But I think it’s equally important to forge the future, to make new memories. I left England because it was painful, yes. But I also left because America was new, and brilliant, and exciting. Because I wanted to.”

Susan squeezes his hands gently, he isn’t sure if she can squeeze much harder anyway. Her strength seems to come and go like the tides these days.

“Change isn’t a betrayal of what came before, love. Sometimes change is necessary.” Susan hums, “I threw out those hair ribbons, when I came home. Edmund and Lucy swapped rooms entirely. I learned how to put on makeup - they didn’t have red lipstick in Narnia, I can tell you that. It was different, but different was good. Less painful.”

“Allison’s been talking about painting.” Five offers. “She wants to set up a room for when Claire comes to visit. I can’t imagine her in the mansion though. She always sounds so happy, on the phone. Claire, I mean. So carefree. I don’t think we were ever that carefree.”

“If your home isn’t one you can imagine happiness in, perhaps you should ask yourself how you can change that.”

Five snorts, “Doing away with the wall art would be a start. Daily reminders on exactly where to stab each other with our silverware.”

“How ferocious.”

Waking up he was sweating heavily he went about his days getting up showering and dressing up he grabbed his favorite perfume as he went out the door

He hurriedly went to go to the great hall

He was greeted by his friends

"draco" as blaise patted his back

"watch it zabini" he gritted his teeth he never liked being touched without permission

"woah in a bad mood today dray"as he gestured draco go sit down

"so draco how are you and that muggle from gryffindor" as blaise eats his meal

"yeah draco you two really got along last time even having conversations at the library" also pansy chimed in

He was confused he couldn't remember anything from yesterday let along hanging out with someone

"excuse me but I can't remember anything"

"come on dray no need to be shy we know you always had a huge crush on granger" pansy cheekily smiled

Draco blushed as he tries to deny their claims

You wake up sweating heavily you didn't knew why

As your sister opened the door to your room

"glad to see your not touching your boobs like yesterday" Lucy laughed as she closed the door

Hearing her statement you try and remember what happened yesterday but nothing came to mind

You started to do your normal routine you looked at the mirror as you tie your hair with a thread

You went down and you were greeted by your older sister susan

"y/n you look good today" as she sat down the table with your other siblings

"what do you mean" as you also sat down with them

"well yesterday you were acting crazy your hair was all over the place and to be honest you acted like edmund" peter said

"heyy that's offensive considering she might have lost it at this point"edmund said

You still can't remember what happened considering the life you have you're really not surprise but if your siblings think your acting weird something must be up

The day goes as usual same routine and in a blink of an eye your at your bed yet again writing how your day has been in your diary all the crazy comments your siblings said to you that day

I woke up looking around at a place that isn't hogwarts

"y/n come on were gonna be late" a little girl burst through the door

As she quickly closed it.

"y/n?" Repeating what the little girl said

He slowly got up looking at his reflection at the mirror only to see that his hair isn't that usual blonde malfoy color but a (y/hc) color a girl was looking back at him at the mirror he touched the face he was confused but thinking it was only a dream he tried his best to fit in

He hurriedly went down the stairs only to be greeted by 4 people

"y/n have you brushed your hair and my goodness why are you in your pajamas" an older looking woman said

"I reckon she must have forgotten that we're catching a train" a boy who looked around his age spoke looking uninterested

"well don't just stand there y/n get dressed" the older woman said

Draco hurriedly get dressed and went down again catching up to this four unknown people with him

They were at a train station it almost reminded him of Hogwarts Express but clearly this was a muggle train full of pesky muggles

And to be honest it was just the same as his father warned him to be one of the people he was with got into a fight and well it didn't ended well to be more specific the oldest one he assumed

And he was lectured by the older woman with them

"peter come on isn't it that hard to apologize"

"I hate being treated like a kid susan" as he sat down with them

He and the guy the same age as him asaid the same thing

"but we are kids"

"but we weren't kids at some point have you forgotten it's been a year"

"ow" the little girl jumped up

"did you just pinched me" the older guy said looking at the boy around his age

"no"

They felt as if something was changing something getting stronger as they all got up

"let's all hold each other's hand" susan said

"come on edmund hold my hand" peter said to what he assumed the name of the boy

"I'm not holding your hand"

As a train emerged out of nowhere and well as if like a dream a light emerged after a train passed

They all walked towards the light and they were greeted by an odd place it was a beach looking at the people he was with they looked happy taking off their scarves and sweaters and playing at the sea while he was dumbfounded

"y/nn come-on aren't you excited" the little girl spoke

"uhm where exactly are we" after he said that they all looked at him as if he was crazy

"y/n have you forgotten were in narnia" susan spoke

Narnia? Weird name but alright he'll probably just roll with it since it's only a dream

Your pov

You woke up looking at a dim kind of room with hints of green everywhere it was unfamiliar yet it was familiar

You stood up looking for something that can give any explanation of what's happening

You rush and went to go to a bathroom so you could freshen up or maybe wake up from this dream

You go through a bathroom washing your face with a cold water but as you looked up to your reflection it isn't yours but a boy with silver blonde hair you again wash your face but its the same reflection weird was what you thought

You walked out and tried to find any clothes but to your surprise all of the clothes are like school uniforms

"so I'm a student but from what school" you question yourself

Looking at the clothes you saw a robe and a tie that has D.M initials on it you assumed it might connect to the person you're in

"dm?" Kind of an odd combination you thought you get dressed and as you walked out the door you were immediately greeted by a tall black boy he was handsome you thought

"draco come on were gonna be late ms Umbridge will kill us"

"draco?" You mumbled it must have been your name yes my name is draco

As you and that handsome boy walked through the halls you can see that this wasn't any ordinary school it's full of magic never in your life thought that you could dream such a complex dream

Looking around you the boy entered a hall of some kinds where you assumed most students were but it was divided by green, red, yellow and blue he gestured you to go to a green pupils table some kind of color coding you thought

"drakeeyyy" a girl with short black hair said

You looked up at her looking at her with a dumbfounded expression but you try to be friendly

"uhm hi?" You said scratching your forehead

"woah this is a first you aren't irritated" the short haired girl said

"may I ask who are you"

"gosh draco have you forgotten me it's pansy duh and that's blaise and crabbe and goyle" she pointed at evwryone

"I'm only just kidding pansy I know who you are haha" you awkwardly laughed trying to deflect your comment earlier

"well draco I think your joke missed a mark there" blaise said

"but in all honesty you aren't really great with jokes" blaise added

You just nodded and well as you expected your dream went swiftly in a blink of an eye the day was over and it is now your free time you tried and don't go with your so called friends since they often bully people and as you were walking you saw a library your eyes lit up looking at how many books there was you went inside and took almost all of it you looked at a red haired girl about your age sitting down alone and you also sit down across from her she looked up with horror in her eyes

"hi uhm can I sit here?" You asked politely

"that's the second time this week malfoy what exactly do you want" you sensed that she was building her walls up

"nothing in particular I just want to read with someone it gets kind of lonely" you truthfully said

She only nodded and after a few hours you and her talked so much and well you could say you two are now on good terms

You decided to walk her through her room she said she was in gryffindor it reminded you of aslan and well your brother peter who was also brave and well you knew that there are different houses in this school it was wonderful it was exciting you went back to your room and well you decided to write something on the notebook beside the green bed you wrote how you made a new friend and well how you wished that this dream wouldn't end since you can't help but enjoy the beauty of this place as you closed the notebook you lay down and drift into darkness
