the thing that gets me about posts like this is that the people making them don’t seem to consider for a minute that anyone outside the united states may actually be directly impacted by the political situation in a country that by all means is an imperial core, whether they are from a US-allied country, ‘the west’, or otherwise. I’m sorry you’re so misguided you think anyone having a critical discussion of either of your political parties is a personal attack on the yanks or a callous dismissal of the struggles of everyday americans rather than an understanding that no country stands in isolation, that when a country like america moves on something this has far-reaching impacts around the globe.

perhaps less annoying but more disappointing is the idea that we’re all just laughing at americans, rather than recognising government failures towards the american populace that leftists around the world may actually have an interest in due to -- unheard of! -- empathy and perhaps radical anti-imperialist politics. I’m sorry leftists abroad aren’t shilling for the democrats, which apparently means they must all be stupid and unlearnèd (or else indirectly aiding white supremacist fascists, an incredible implication given that the us political system as whole cannot be discussed meaningfully without being able to criticise the democratic party’s role in its functioning), hate everyday americans, and all be living in quaint little homes emotionally and politically distanced from global struggles -- but maybe you could spend a moment to consider they might have deeper and more pure intentioned interest in your global power player of a country than callous disregard for the suffering of ordinary people.
