In the third post about episode 10th of Hoshiai no Sora I want to highlight everything else portrayed, cute and sad alike. So let’s start from GREAT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAKI AND HIS MUM. Because this is precious thing we get in every episode and I cannot stress how much I love that! Also the fact that they actually talk like normal people is stunning. I want to have a parent like that, who listens to me and tells me why she cannot be somewhere where it would be nice if she was, because I will perform there. If I had Maki’s mum as my parent my life would be so much better, just saying. We stan Maki’s mum!
Below the cut you will find:
1. Oji Arashi and his detachment from real life. (Pretty obvious stuff, sorry).
2. Rintaro’s meeting with his mum foreshadowing.
3. Praising the relationship between Rintaro and Itsuki.
4. Takada Kei as rare female role model for boy’s club.
5. Touma and Student Council President meeting.
6. Kasuga Kaori’s quick analyze.
7. Toxicity of fans vs Mitsue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another thing shown in the episode was Arashi’s complete obliviousness of the life of the people in the world around him. I mean there wasn’t much about him other than establishing him as someone who doesn’t know how real world works and that people don’t usually drag made at home food with them around, and that he can be easily persuaded to talk when he gets the food he wants, but also there was something else there to him. We all know that Arashi is self-centered prince like character, who thinks he is awesome in everything, but it looks like not everybody thinks in the same way about his behavior.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The twins Arashi met today definitely think of him as if he was the dumbest person on earth. Though important thing here is that Arashi's business with the twins sounded either as if they thought he chose bad school or as if Misaki school got tough route through tournament. For both of them it is very funny that Arashi thinks he is this one person who can ensure his school victory and twins just couldn't take it without laughing it off as a good joke. They are also the only people whose strength Arashi not only acknowledges but also explicitly points out that they are more awesome than he is in general. If I was to call him anything I would say he is Naruto Uzumaki type of character, just without emotional trauma of being the most hated orphan in the village attached.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel a little bad for him though, mostly because he is being treated like animal to feed and get information from by Maki. Maki, that’s not cool! But to be fair, Arashi isn’t without blame here too, because he literally treats Maki as the free food supply and didn’t even give him money back for everything he ate. He is a rich boy after all, he thinks everything should be handed to him on silver plate. It was his life all those years, so he isn’t even able to consider it’s not normal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next thing is Rintaro’s meeting with mum. There is not much to say about that to be honest, because it’s just a short scene put out here in order to establish future storyline in regard to Rintaro’s life. It didn’t even manage to affect the game he played. Just like Nao’s problems with his mum didn’t show up too. Everybody were so focused on the match that nobody really thought about their real life problems, too preoccupied with actually trying to win the games.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though I wonder what this whole thing with Rintaro’s knee is supposed to foreshadow as well, because it like appeared out of nowhere, but also it seemed that whole club knew about that before, outside Maki who noticed it during the match. Is it some drama-related injury or just regular thing which Rintaro dealt with all his life? It really made me wonder if the two situations, his knee condition and his mother’s sudden wish to meet him aren’t by any chance related. I am also worried what losing a match because of a knee can do to Rintaro, considering he feels as much responsible for the club as Shinjo does, but just shows it in different way, by self-blaming himself for “being useless”. It like screams drama to me. Rintaro really wanted to win this! Rintaro! ToT
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also once again I want to point out another great dynamic between the pair shown. Just like in the cases of Shingo/Tsubasa and Taiyo/Nao, here we also can see how great companions Rintaro and Itsuki are to each other. They do not blame one another for mistakes and Itsuki really tried to make Rintaro as relaxed as it’s possible by bringing up Takada. To be honest I loved the fact that he actually mentioned her, because it’s not only a sweet and tasty female character praise based on the fact that female soft tennis club is really a big deal, which is rare in sports anime, but also that they both look up to Takada as a player.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s also worth pointing out, that when Rintaro’s leg starts giving up Touma isn’t really mad because of that. It’s one from probably two situations in the whole episode when Shinjo is actually calm and at peace with what is happening.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Second time when he is calm and collected happens in the most unforeseeable circumstances for him as a character, meaning when Student Council President comes to the soft tennis courts to inspect the clubs. I was really surprised that Touma wasn’t at all angry, but it just speaks a lot about how quickly he can get over something bad if he finds a way to reforge it into something good. In this case he reforged Student Council President’s decision to disband his club into motivation and necessary pressure which his teammates needed to become better at soft tennis. He also acknowledges that they were slacking off before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of which I loved that we also got another glimpse into Student Council President personality with this one worried “Am I a bully?”, which speaks volumes about how insecure she feels about herself. We knew that she comes from a rich house and didn’t really want to go to the school, which she goes now and that her mother and grandmother both use different names to address her, because both see Kaori as someone else and enforce that by using those names and treating Kaori in different ways to be sure that she grows the way they want her to grow. But Kaori also isn’t stupid, and plays their game by allowing herself to act as they wish her to act, while in truth she has her own vision of herself which she realizes outside her mother and grandmother influence. Part of that vision is probably making school run better than it did before, hence why she was so adamant about closing clubs which waste funds. It doesn’t though mean that she doesn’t doubt herself, because of authority she has and the way she acts, which this one glimpse of anxiety expresses so well. Also the fact that Touma is the one who assures her she is fine and right about what she says was so heartwarming OMG! He is such a good person! ToT
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last and probably the most important thing for me as an artist was the mention of world reaction to Mitsue’s art style and theme change on her artistic twitter account. Her fans literally bashed her over that, which not only shows how internet pressure looks like from the perspective of the creators, but also highlights the toxic fandom practices of pushing creators to change back to what they were before, because “they liked them more that way, and they hate the new them”. This practice can be powerful when it’s about social justice and ensuring that big companies won't leave out or misrepresent minority groups, but it has also the darker side which always presents itself as bunch of people being shitty and disrespectful to their favorite creators in hope their abuse will change them back to the image they are the most accustomed to and prefer to see. Yes, that’s abuse, the worst kind of abuse to be honest, which can make artist quit.  The second those fans do not get what they want they start acting like entitled fans and white male gamers combined. I do not want to draw a line between gender here, because I believe some of those nasty people were girls as well, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that this behavior was the exact same which I saw in every “white male gamer” who made a drama of every game in which female character is treated as she should be, as a person instead of an object. And I think it’s important to point out here due to the fact that Natsuko is known mostly from drawing goth stuff, probably mostly young women, and we knew before that her fans were all squealing over the so called “knee-skirt” gap, which all on it own was already sexist and disgusting for me to be honest.
Tumblr media
And this is what I want to tell all of them! SCREW YOU! Also I am happy that the hate she got didn’t discourage Mitsue, and she still posted the last picture.

Ever since I started working at Patsy’s, I’ve been sort of a wallflower.
College was beginning to kick my ass when it came to finances, to the point that I barely had enough money to pay for a night out with the friends that I had made on my floor, so I decided that the best course of action was to get a job at the twenty-four-hour diner that was right across the street from my dorm building. It was the cutest little place; squat on the outside, yet warm and cozy with the feeling of a fifty’s sock hop on the inside. The hours weren’t the best, but the pay was good, and I figured that a few late shifts at three in the morning was better than having no money at all.
That being said, however, I was always privy to the strangest of people coming in at god-awful hours of the night, mostly college students that ordered three plates of blueberry pancakes due to their being high off their asses. Once, there was a guy that looked like he had jumped straight out of a Macy’s catalog who asked for a bag of ice because his recent tattoo (which was in an unmentionable place) was hurting him. Conversations with the old locals was one of my favorite parts of the job, getting to hear about their stories of them in high school and how Patsy’s used to be an old hookah shop until the owner died of lung cancer.
Despite all of the interesting characters I met, the most intriguing was a group that came in at one in the morning on a Tuesday in October.
I remember that night, how they had burst into the shop, just when I was thinking that no one else would be coming in. Amanda, my coworker, had asked if I could cover her shift, and I, ever the people pleaser, had agreed with a tight smile that was soon swallowed by a yawn. A lanky, auburn-haired man held the door open as the rest of who I assumed were his friends stumbled through the entrance. The first to enter was a beautiful redhead that was hanging off the shoulder of an uptight looking man with curls sitting messily atop his head. Her piercing blue eyes scanned the tables with a scrutinizing gaze, and she whispered something into the ear of her friend (partner?) before deciding on a booth directly in front of the large, glass-stained window. The curly haired boy, who looked out of place next to the girl because of his prep-boy stature, only smiled and followed her without saying another word. The next person I noticed was a burly, dark-skinned man, who smiled brightly at the lights of the diner and, presumably, the boy that had just entered before him. Right after came a stocky young man with red cheeks, who ran ahead to the booth to take a seat next to the girl, followed by the one who had been holding the door open for the rest of the group.
The five friends talked to each other in relatively loud voices, so I could hear them from my position at the cash register while I was getting ready to take their orders. “Where the fuck are they? I swear they were right behind us when we left,” huffed the one with curly hair.
The redhead laughed and threw an arm around her friend. “Who wants to bet that they got caught up making out on Dean Russo’s car?”
Just as a chorus of ‘me!’s rang through the air, the bell above the front entrance chimed, announcing the arrival of two new patrons, their looking windswept and their cheeks red. The girl hollered, and one by one the rest of the group made kissing noises at the couple, one of whom buried his face in the other’s shoulder.
“Dean Russo kick you off of his car?” asked the blonde kid, and the two both nodded reluctantly before taking a seat right next to each other. I thought that now was as good a time as any to go and take their orders, so, grabbing my pad and pen, I made my way to their booth. I was greeted with smiles, and so I smiled back before clearing my throat to speak. “May I take your orders?” I groaned internally, knowing that I probably sounded extremely awkward; I was still getting used to talking to college students that I had never met before. Despite my internal conflict, they all nodded eagerly, shyly (and, for some, exuberantly) saying varied degrees of yes.
It wasn’t long until I served them, and they asked me to sit with them and talk. At the time, it seemed like a weird request, but they were so kind so I couldn’t find it in myself to decline. After I tugged off my apron and pulled a chair up to the edge of the booth, the only girl in the group began to introduce each of them one by one.
“I’m Beverly, Bev, your next girlfriend! Whatever you wanna call me!” I laughed at her introduction, and she nodded in satisfaction. “This,” she continued, pointing at the curly haired man be that sat on her right, “is Stanley the Manly, affectionately makes by our one and only Richie Tozier.” She then pointed at one of the men that had walked in late, specifically the taller one with a mess of hair on his head. “Eddie is Richie’s boyfriend, and together they make the most disgustingly cute couple you will ever see.” Eddie, who had freckles decorating his face, waved at me with a shy smile. “Mike—“ she pointed at the dark-skinned man “— is Stan’s boyfriend, Bill is his best friend, and Ben is our group’s honorary mother.”
Richie cut in quickly, leaning over the table so he could see me from around Eddie. “We are the Losers’ Club!”
I raised my eyebrows in question, and Ben smiled. “We named it ourselves. We’ve been the Losers’ Club since we were thirteen.”
“You guys have all been friends since you were kids?”
Mike nodded proudly. “Yep! We all decided to go to university together. Don’t know how I’d survive without these guys.”
I got to know them pretty well, from how Richie was majoring in film (just like me) to the fact that Mike was a star football player for the Huskies, our football team. They were extremely comfortable with each other, always making mildly deprecating comments about each other, and I longed to have friends like them.
I hoped that, maybe, I could become good friends with these people who I found extremely interesting.
-
The Losers’ Club made it a habit to enter Patsy’s every Tuesday, ordering the same dishes every single time. For Mike, it was a shitty rendition of huevos rancheros; Stan always glanced at the menu scrutinizingly before deciding on an everything bagel topped with lox; Beverly favored the Homestyle french toast; Ben and Bill always shared a stack of cinnamon pancakes drowned in maple syrup. The only ones who didn’t keep their routine orders were Richie and Eddie, always sharing a plate of something that Richie had picked in an over-excited haze. I remember asking Eddie about it on one of their trips, and he said that he only ever shared with his boyfriend because he knew it would make Richie happy (“...but don’t ever tell him I said that.”)
I had gotten so used to seeing them on Tuesdays that I was mildly startled when Richie and Eddie came in on a Friday night in December, hands entangled in the pocket of Richie’s large winter coat and scarves covering their mouths. Richie was talking animatedly, waving his free arm around as he tried to explain something that I couldn’t quite hear to Eddie. The night was fairly busy and I was already waiting four other tables, so I made Amanda take their orders, and it wasn’t long until their food came out; this time, a large “California Style” burger and fries.
They remained in the same spot for nearly three hours, Eddie securely tucked against Richie’s side, laughing at a story’s that they were sharing with each other. Most people had cleared out, leaving in their wake a mess of unfinished plates and dirty napkins, yet the couple stayed, looking picture picture in the pastel lighting. I couldn’t begin to fathom how in love they were. I began to clean up, listening in on their conversation at times, and I was nearly done when Richie called my name, prompting me to turn and raise an eyebrow at my friends.
“Okay, okay,” he started, removing his arm from around his boyfriend’s shoulders. “Would you agree that—“
“Richie, don’t you fucking dare—“
Richie quickly put his palm against Eddie’s mouth, and grinned when it made Eddie stop talking. “As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, wouldn’t you agree that Optimus is the perfect fucking name for mine and Eddie’s kids?”
“No, it’s not, Richie!”
“No, it’s not, Richie!” The raven-haired boy mimicked back, and I laughed. He turned to me, continuing on with his speech. “Imagine this: your kid goes to school, meets a new friend, and tells him that his name is Op. And then! When they ask what it’s short for, he says: Optimus.”
“You are literally the dumbest fucking person I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting,” said Eddie, and despite his words, his tone was light, and he was looking at Richie with all the love in the world.
“Oh, cry me a river, Edward!”
I cut in before the shorter man could berate his boyfriend’s use of a full name. “I kinda have to agree with Eddie on this one. It’s a dumb name, Rich.”
Richie gasped and feigned a look of shock, clutching his heart in a desperate fashion. “Why, Miss!” he drawled in a somewhat passable southern accent. “I never did think you’d be the one to break my little heart!”
I shrugged. Eddie winked at me.
I spent the rest of my shift talking with them.
-
The second of January was when I found out about it.
I had gotten pretty close with the group over the past year, occasionally going to parties with them and playing board games when it rained (which is often here in Seattle.) I had taken a liking to Beverly the most, with her exuberant personality and incredible fashion sense, but Richie and Eddie came as a close second. They were a package deal, always a source of envy among the single members of our group, myself included. We were all privy to their constant kisses, banter, and, to the chagrin of most of us, the sexual innuendos that Richie directed at his smaller boyfriend.
The snow outside had piled up so high that it was almost impossible to get through the front entrance of the diner, yet business was booming as per usual. I had the opportunity to work at the bar, which required less effort and guaranteed more time to relax. Thirty minutes into my shift, the bell rang, signaling the arrival of new customers. When I looked up, I was excited (and surprised) to see Eddie and Beverly walking towards me, the red-haired girl’s arm slung across her best friend’s shoulders. The two of them only ever came in alone if there was important news, mostly to let me into the little bubble that was the Losers’ Club’s world, so I waited eagerly for them to greet me.
“Hey Em!” Beverly said, her white teeth on full display as her lips pulled back into an excited grin.
“Hey guys,” I said back. “So… what’s the big news?” At this, Eddie’s skin turned a scarlet red, and he stuck out his left hand, where a glittering silver band sat on his ring finger.
“No fucking way, he proposed?” I grabbed Eddie’s hand fast, examining the ring, and he nodded. “You guys are so young!”
Eddie shrugged, the smile on his face never faltering. “I can’t even think of spending the rest of my life with anyone else. He’s always been the one for me, since we were kids.”
“Holy shit, that’s fucking cute!”
Beverly pulled me outside later that night, interlocking our fingers after she had lit a cigarette. “My best friends are fucking engaged and I can’t even get a girlfriend.”
I smiled at her, before looking at the sky, where white flurries fell in hurried dazes. “You’re a catch, Bev.”
She laughed, squeezing my hand, and paused before she spoke again. “These idiots have been in love since before I even knew them. Took them eleven years to realize it.”
“They really are the dream, huh?”
She smiled.

Season 3 Overview
Tumblr media
Another season has come and gone. And now that the season is over and I’m all Smash Bro’d out, it’s the perfect opportuni-THREE to talk about it! XD
Season 3 was a whirlwind, but in the best way possible. Once Upon a Time really took this season to come into its own, blending the real emotions of a drama with the fantastical elements of a fairy tale. And with two seasons of developed dynamics at its back and the buildup of having all of our main characters finally on the same side though still with the same qualities that allowed for real and interesting conflict, this was shaped up to be an incredible season.
And what an incredible season it was!
Damn, it feels so sad closing the book on Season 3. Look, this is my favorite season, both critically and emotionally and rewatching it only proved that twice over for me. In terms of its final score, it got 94%, the highest of the three seasons I’ve reviewed so far. Additionally, HALF of the season scored Golden Apples, the highest honor I can bestow on an episode!
So, with all that, what more specifically did I like about it and what (if anything) went wrong? Well, let’s get into it under the cut with our Pro/Con lookback!
Pros
The Concept of Belief - Often in other seasons, belief is something that acts as a platitude and while it doesn’t bother me as much as other platitudes on the show, it wasn’t especially effective either. However, Season 3 did something different. Here, belief was made both tangible and intangible. To elaborate, it’s more than a meaningless platitude. It’s belief in something real and exuding the energy to make it happen. In Neverland, believing in each other was a strong point and that belief came through trusting others that they normally wouldn’t in pursuit of a grander cause (Saving Henry). It’s the belief that everyone wants the same thing and that there might be some strength in the others’ mindsets. This continues in the Wicked Witch Arc and it’s the reason why Regina is able to defeat Zelena with light magic. This concept is present all throughout the season and the practical terms and language that the characters use as well as the actions that follows them transforms that belief into something that can actually be used to solve problems rather than something vague that is just said because it sound right. It’s like Tiana’s dad says in the opening of “The Princess and the Frog,” wishing is only half the deal. You have to make the rest happen and by trusting each other, that’s exactly what the Nevengers did.
Villains – Season 3 had the best villains, plain and simple. I wrote an entire essay about Pan and I wanted to write one about Zelena, but to put it simply, both villains had big and hammy personalities that made them intimidating and memorable, strong connections to our main cast that allowed for them to be characters in their own right with a thematic presence, strong effects on both the plot and story, interesting motivations that lent themselves to high stakes, and satisfying defeats and “deaths.” Rebecca Mader and Robbie Kay both additionally contributed performances that positively OWNED their interpretations of The Wicked Witch of the West and Peter Pan. They were intimidating, but at the same time, had their own bits of charm that still made them villains that I wanted to see on screen. Like, they still did terrible things – their villainy was never questioned – but at the same time, I never felt an urge to fast forward past their scenes because it was so engaging to watch them do their things.
Redemptions – I feel like I could talk so much about Rumple, Regina, and Killian’s individual redemption arcs in Season 3. There’s this understanding among the writing staff of the people these characters are and what they want them to be and with that cohesion, they put their all into making that happen this season. Because of that, all three characters got emotionally satisfying developments that were carefully built up over eleven episodes. And, what I like about these developments is that those changes did account for bumps in the road and allowed for some pretty sensible deviations from those roads to redemption. At some point in the season, Rumple, Regina, and Killian do villainous things to some degree that take their redemptions down a few notches, but it doesn’t undo the work they’ve done.
Cinematography and Locations - I feel like Season 3 was the most diverse the series ever got with its locations and camera work. The camera work this season allowed for the locations, moods, and characters come alive. Storybrooke has such a rich geography and so often in later seasons as I was watching this one, we don’t get to see it. The mirror shot lake stands out the most to me and I want to give out more honorable mentions, but…well, this is why you don’t wait so long to do an overview XD! But if you’ve read my reviews, then you know that there were too many locations that I called pretty and amazing and I feel like it’s a failing that a lot of locations in the coming season just stick to the some of the more common places. The woods never look so beautiful afterwards.
Cons
Walsh’s Framing - ...Look, I had very little to complain about this season. Thematically, shit just came together nicely. BUT there was a failing or two, as small as they were and Walsh’s was a really small but strange fuckup. Like, Walsh is supposed to be framed as a bad man who got his just desserts by being turned into a monkey and later killed. The latter part of this works well enough since he does attack Emma before he dies, but the former half…well, it doesn’t. Glinda’s justification for finding Zelena’s punishment of him to be appropriate is that Walsh promised hope he could never fulfill. The only thing is that in the one instance of Walsh being the Wizard that we see, he is not only helping Zelena, but gives her something that physically allows her to do what she wants them to do, only asks for a payment as an afterthought, AND advises Zelena about her jealousy, which is just needed advice for her. He’s not shown to be callous or make unfulfillable promises. He lies about his abilities, yes, but how he keeps up his ruse still enriches the lives of others, and if it’s not, it should have been better shown. Have Walsh not give the advice, or maybe set a deadline for when Zelena has to get the item from Rumple. Like, make him more of a douche! As it stands, I just feel bad for Walsh and hope he moves on to the better place in the afterlife.
The Island of Machismo - This isn’t a critique of Neverland, per se, but dammit, this aspect of the arc was just frustrating! It feels like if one was a male in this series and present on this island, they got affected with a bug far more dangerous than Dreamshade: Machismo. At least once per episode, the men of this show would argue over something stupid for no other reason than showing that they’re a “real man” to either their opponent of the object of their affections. The dumbest example was of course the lighter fight in “Dark Hollow,” but dishonorable mentions to a lot of David’s behavior prior to and during “Good Form” and the attitude of the Lost Boy’s at Pan’s camp. Just...it really shows that this show was made by guys and as a show that normally doesn’t do this, it’s really disappointing.
...And honestly, that’s really it. As I said, in terms of broad strokes, this season gave me very little to complain about. While some episodes or scenes were off in either their framing or the sturdiness of their stories, they were more or less one offs!
Okay! Now that we’re done talking about some of the season’s less than stellar qualities, let’s go back to talking about the good shit again! That’s right, it’s time to talk dynamics! Now, like last season, these are in no particular order, and that’s because...well, when you spend the better part of two weeks playing Smash Bros, you kind of forget some of the intricacies of dynamics and thus which ones you think are better! XD But honestly, there were so many good ones this season that I could’ve extended this to a top ten without even trying (Honorable mentions go to Emma and Regina, the Charming Family, Zelena and Regina, Regina and Snow, and Killian and Henry).
Captain Charming - Killian and David’s dynamic is mostly a dynamic that develops under the surface, save for “Good Form” where it’s given its day in court. What I like about it is how David’s never portrayed in a negative light for his distrust of Killian. It comes from a sensible place given Killian’s misdeeds, but is still shown as something that he’s better off for moving on from. And Killian’s struggle to get his approval is not without its merit. Killian’s real effort is portrayed. Additionally, they have a nice bit of snark between them. Seeing these two guys grumble as they work together and comment on their budding friendship is funny and quickly becomes endearing as the snipes become just a little kinder over the season. I finally want to point out how David warming up to Killian is one of the few instances of The Island of Useless Machismo failing in that regard as by the end of “Good Form,” they trust each other enough to let the fucking toxic masculinity go for half a second.
Swan Believer - Believe it or not, a lot of what makes the Swan Believer dynamic so good is the fact that Emma and Henry are separated for so much of it. Through each other’s absences, we see so much of their feelings for each other come through. That’s not to say I like them apart but every moment that that was the case, we saw further just how much that separation made Emma determined. Henry blatantly informs every decision she makes and allows for her character to explore her magic, understanding of morality, and identity. And in the latter half of the season, we get this fantastic mix of frustration and love from Henry as he deals with the truth being kept from him. He knows his mother has his best interests at heart, but every piece of information that he knows isn’t being shared and every time he’s left on the sideline proceeds to make him angrier. And on Emma’s side, no matter what her approach is to where she wants to be, what doesn’t change is how much she wants Henry with her. But when they are together, we see just how close the two of them can be. “New York Serenade” has so many great moments where we see a possible life that Emma and Henry could’ve had and they’re so emotionally comfortable and aware of each other. One can understand why Emma wants to return to their simpler life upon seeing how cozy they were in their New York apartment. To summarize, the Swan Believer dynamic was one of the most subtle and loving dynamics of the season and I happily ate it up!
Regal Believer - Like with Swan Believer, so much of the season doesn’t involve Henry and Regina being together. But unlike Swan Believer, they get a different means of development. There are certainly similarities between the two, but I want to focus on what makes them unique. First, I’m gonna do that by pointing out a similarity! XD Just like how Henry’s absence informs all of Emma’s choices, the same can be said for Regina’s too. She puts up with the Charmings for far longer than she normally would like to, explores the type of role she can play in the group dynamic (A mentor to Emma’s magical skills and a willing user of dark magic), and faces off against all manner of dangers without a moment’s hesitation. Her determination is so fierce that one can completely understand when she’s had too much of the group and needs to hit the highway. And of course, I have to touch upon the “Save Henry” flashback. We really see that for as much growth as Regina is doing and for as much remorse as she has for her sins, she can never fully regret any of it because she loves Henry that much and we know exactly why. He gave light and purpose to her life and was enough that she was willing to put herself at a disadvantage in order to give him the love that he deserved. And that love, while held back by  two seasons of villainy, finally gets to show itself from Henry’s side. Now that Regina’s doing better, Heny reciprocates her love fully. And in the latter half of the season, watching every small interaction between the two of them as Henry doesn’t know his mother, but still really likes her company is so heartwarming and makes the moment where he reclaims his memories and they break the curse together a moment of utter triumph. They fought so hard to be together and now that they are, I couldn’t be happier.
Pan and Rumple - I could go on and on about Pan’s dynamics with practically all of our mains, but let’s focus on the best one. Rumple is a character so steeped in nuance that one has to wonder about his origins. With Pan, that was partially delivered on and so effectively at that! Pan is an utter monster who knows every one of Rumple’s buttons to push and partially because he laid the foundation for some of them. Even as Rumple tries to be noble in order to save his grandson, Pan presses those buttons relentlessly and without mercy, no matter if it comes at the cost of destroying his son’s confidence or severing Rumple’s tepid connection with Neal. Nothing is sacred. And Rumple reaction to this is fascinating as well. His hatred for Pan is without question present, but at the same time, Rumple is not entirely immune to Pan’s powers of suggestion. He nearly falls for the fake Belle’s scheme and when the doll first shows up on the island, Rumple meets it with tears. With the possible exception of Cora, no villain has ever intimidated Rumple like this before. And watching Rumple have to use every supply in his arsenal to take Pan down as it culminates in Rumple realizing the sacrifice he must make is such an integral part of his character growth this season. And every time that happens, Pan just becomes more and more of a threat to the audience. It’s a dirty, disgusting, and utterly despicable dynamics that they share and I love every second of it.
Rumple and Neal - I feel like Rumple and Neal’s dynamic really gets the attention this season that it deserved last season but didn’t get. While their time together was shorter, every second of it counted. Neal’s distrust of Rumple really gets to be explores and it was further kicked into high gear as a result of the urgency of their mission. Because Henry was taken, both an initial alliance was able to take place and in the same breath for that same reason, destroyed. And then, it was rebuilt. Rumple and Neal’s reconstructed parent/child relationship is so satisfying for me because Rumple really has to earn trust back from a situation that he got himself into. That entirely deserved bitterness on Neal’s half is given the attention it’s deserved in an entire episode dedicated to it as well as a few follow up scenes in future episodes. And it’s brutal. Nothing is held back as Neal tells Rumple exactly how he feels and why he’s worried about a chance at betrayal and every word cuts like a knife. Because of that, the moments when Rumple disproves those doubts feel so satisfying to behold and the ensuing reconciliation is applause worthy.
Okay, not that all’s been said and done about dynamics, it’s that time again! Yes, it’s time to tackle the best writer of the season! And may I just say, this season was FANTASTIC for everyone! We had TWO writers get a perfect score and A&E were just one point off from joining them! But as they did not, let’s crown our winners!
And the best writers of Season 3 are…
Christine Boylan and Robert Hull!
Both writers finished off the season so remarkably! When looking back at their work, not only did every episode get a 10/10, but ALL of them received the Golden Apple, a score I reserve for episodes of exceptional quality and a first for writing accomplishments for this rewatch. These are classic episodes like “Save Henry,” “Think Lovely Thoughts,” and “Snow Drifts,” as well as two new absolute favorites of mine like “Nasty Habits” and “The Tower.” All of these episodes have powerful and effective themes, compelling character interactions, and risks that take the story to new heights.
Well, that’s everything for you. We can close the door on this season and move on forward!
So now that Season 3, often regarded as OUAT’s best season (By myself included) is over...where do we go from here?
I love the Frozen Arc, and I’m really excited to watch it again. In fact, I’ve already started it, and I just finished reviewing “White Out!” XD The Frozen cast rocks, I get some fantastic dynamics and storylines out of it, and it feels quite balanced. I’m also excited to start this season as well because this is the point where I started watching the show live when it aired and because of that, I think my reviews and rewatch will transform into more of a discussion of my experiences and changes with these episodes and less as basically reviewing them for the first time. As you’ve already noticed if you’ve been reading my most recent reviews, I’ve condensed the format so that I can spend more time focusing on the core elements of episodes.
That said, I know there is a drop in the quality of OUAT going forward. I’m positive, but not naïve in that regard. That also having been said, I’m going to go into this new season like I always do: With anticipation for the good! And I hope you’ll be there to join me!
Thanks as always to @watchingfairytales and @daensarah! See you all...well partially through the next season! XD Puns, critiques, and gushing galore await you there!

By far, the third trimester proves to be the hardest for you. The aches, pains, strange cravings, and constant cranky mood only doubles. Brendon even takes off work a couple days to take care of you, cancelling business meetings and conferences in order to make sure he’s right by your side as you endure all of this. The weekend hits and honestly all you want to do is sleep, but Brendon insists you have to get up. “I know you don’t want to, but it’s important,” he insists. “Please y/n, come on.”
“I don’t want to,” you whine. “I feel miserable.”
“I know baby,” he soothes, running a hand up and down your shoulder. “But for me? Please?”
“If it’s breakfast just bring it to me,” you mumble. “Otherwise I don’t wanna.”
“What if I told you there were presents involved?” he taunts teasingly.
“Presents?” you poke your head out of the sheets.
“Yes,” he giggles. “Lots and lots of presents. All for you.”
“For real?” you tilt your head to the side.
“Mhmm,” he grins. “Now come on. You have to get up if you want to see them.”
He helps you out of bed and leads you carefully down the stairs, and when you see it, you put your hand over your mouth in shock. “Bren-” you can barely breathe. “You didn’t have to, oh my god.”
“It’s not a third trimester without a baby shower,” Moira gives a soft smile.
There’s all of the workers are standing there with cheery faces, a plethora of presents, balloons, sweet and salty treats, and a giant sign that reads “Ready for Rhi.” Tears well up in your eyes, it’s almost unreal. The rest of the day follows with opening up pastel colored blankets, pacifiers, bottles, baby carrier, onesies and booties, tiny beanies, rattles, teethers, diapers, and all sorts of other things. Although they’ve reassured you that you’ve thanked them enough, you still can’t seem to stop the praises of gratitude that spill out from your mouth. You’ve never felt so loved or cared for before by a family in your entire life. Brendon holds you in his arms and kisses you, then leads you down a hall, towards a corridor, and towards a door you had always known as the entrance to a guest bedroom.
“What is this?” you sigh, putting your hands on your hips. “Another surprise?”
“Perhaps,” he confesses, and you notice the small tug at the corner of his lips that refuse to let him suppress a smile.
“Better not be anything too surprising,” you narrow your eyes. “I don’t want to go into labor quite yet.”
“Don’t worry,” he chuckles. “I promise it’s nothing too shocking. In fact, you’ve probably already seen this coming for a while now.”
You give him a strange glance before turning open the doorknob and having your eyes widen at the sight before you. Baby blue skies with puffy clouds and rays of sunshine paint the walls, little stars dangling from the ceiling, a white crib in one corner and a baby changing station against the wall, wide windows with the perfect view of outside, and a small white noise machine that sits atop a desk. “Oh my god,” you can barely contain your excitement. “Brendon, it’s beautiful. It’s perfect.”
“I tried,” he shrugs, cheeks showing a tint of red. “I figured we had to put the baby somewhere once it gets out of that stomach of yours.” He crouches down to press a kiss to the bump and then smiles up at you.
“Oh come here you goof,” you pull him up and kiss his lips, passionate, thankful, soft, sweet. “You know I could never do this without you. And I thank you so much.”
“Without me you wouldn’t be pregnant in the first place,” he rolls his eyes.
“Hey,” you pout. “You know what I mean.”
“I know,” he soothes. “It means a lot. Thank you. I’m glad I can be here for you.”
As the due date nears, Brendon only becomes tenfold as caring and protective of you. You’re sitting on the couch, binge watching one of your favorite shows on a Saturday afternoon when you feel it. Painful contractions, the fluid running down your legs, and shouting at Brendon that your water had broken was only the beginning of it all.
“What?” he stares at you, wide eyed, like a deer in headlights, frozen in place as you shouted it to him from the sofa.
“My water broke, you dumbass!” you scream again, and he blinks twice, then hurriedly rushes towards you, stammering out questions, clearly confused what to do.
“D-do we call an ambulance? Do I d-drive you there?” he sputters out, staring at you and waving his hands around frantically.
“Jesus Christ,” you roll your eyes, gritting your teeth as the pain increases. “Well we should probably do something, don’t you think?”
“Right, right,” he quickly nods, thinking for a moment before scooping you up and carrying you out the door and putting you in the shotgun seat, then rushing towards the driver’s spot and driving to the hospital, holding your hand the entire way there.
Giving birth was absolute hell, but it was beyond helpful to have Brendon right there beside you as everything took place. Before you knew it, you had a little baby girl in your arms, smiling down at her, tears in your eyes. To see Brendon staring down at his little girl, bright eyes and soft heart, it made you melt. Days passed before you felt well enough and recovered to go home, and even still, Brendon was sure to be right by your side.
“What about work?” you quip, worried. “You haven’t been in days, Bren.”
“And miss out on my babygirl being born?” he stares at you as if you’ve asked the dumbest question in the world. “Honey, it’s time I take a vacation for once.”
She’s got Brendon’s beautiful brown eyes and big lips and your smile and skin. She has small little toes and fingernails and clothes, and being so tiny only makes her even more precious. Watching her grow up is a complete blessing and joy. Rhi is everything you could ever hope she would be. Before you know it, she’s talking and walking and outgrowing diapers. Brendon teaches her to sing nursery rhymes and the alphabet, and you’re sure to do the potty training and manners. Her favorite toy is a little stuffed frog named Ribbit, and you absolutely love when Brendon plays with her, making up silly voices for characters and coming up with creative storylines. Her favorite food is Lucky Charms, but she always picks out the rainbow marshmallows from the box and only eats those ones. Her favorite color is yellow, her favorite Disney movie is Nemo, and she loves to dance. Sometimes Brendon takes both of you into the ballroom and you all dress up and dance to some of her favorite Disney songs, Hakuna Matata ranking as her all time favorite.
Years pass and Rhi’s about five years old now. Brendon had said he wanted to wait to get married until she was old enough to appreciate and understand her mommy and daddy’s wedding, as well as be the most beautiful flower girl of all time. However, it still came out of the blue to you and you weren’t expecting it at all. To see Brendon get down on one knee, holding out a diamond ring towards you, asking you that four word question that would change your life forever, you couldn’t help but say yes. Both of you decided to tell Rhi together, and when you showed her your ring, she was just as enthralled if not more than you were.
“Mommy, that makes you a queen!” she grins ear to ear, gazing at the jewel, which Brendon had conveniently picked out as your favorite kind and style.
               “Yeah,” you laugh. “It does.”
“See? You got an upgrade,” Brendon smiles. “You know Rhi, before you came along, mommy was my princess.”
“Really?” Rhi tilts her head to the side, curious.
“Mhmm,” Brendon giggles. “Yeah, we ruled this castle together and then you came along, and we got all excited, and I started making plans to make mommy a queen.”
“When do I become a queen?” Rhi wonders excitedly. “I wanna be like Elsa!”
“You’re not going to be a queen for a while as long as I’m around,” Brendon jokes. “Now come on, we gotta find you a dress for the royal wedding.”
“Ooh!” she hurriedly grabbed Brendon’s hand and tugged him over to the computer.
That’s was his magic trick. It worked with you, and definitely with Rhi. You watched as he sat her down on his lap and scrolled through the different dresses on an online boutique, blushing to yourself as you remember doing the same many years ago in his office, perusing the different dresses on his computer screen.
Weeks passed and Brendon had told his friends and you had told yours. That’s when he decided to bring it up. “Uh babe, are you going to invite your parents?” he wonders aloud.
“Oh,” you pause upon writing out the last wedding invitation. “I mean, I hadn’t really thought of it. I haven’t seen them in years.”
“But like… who’s going to walk you down the aisle?” he asks. He pauses. “I mean, it’s okay if they don’t, I respect your decision wholeheartedly, and I’d hate to have that conversation with your dad, but I mean, you’re twenty three now, you’re an adult. What has happened has passed. I think it’s time to heal the wound.”
“I don’t know Bren…” you hesitate, biting on your lower lip. “I do miss them. I’m just scared I guess.”
“Write them an invitation and we’ll see how it goes. It doesn’t hurt to try,” he offers.
“Alright,” you give a soft smile. “I’ll make a special one just for them.”
“Let me see it,” Brendon prods when he walks into the room hours later, noticing that you’ve finished the letter and begun to seal it up. “I want to read it before you put it in.”
“Okay,” you roll your eyes, smiling, but nervous on the inside.
“Dear Family,” Brendon begins. “I know it’s been a while since I’ve seen you last, but I miss you, and I hope you feel the same. Years have passed and I’ve had time to think about it, and I am sorry that I have cut you out of my life. If it is alright with you, I’d like to piece myself back in. The baby’s been born, and she’s a beautiful little girl named Rhi, with cheery eyes and a huge heart. I would love for you to meet her. Not only would I like for you to meet her though, but the other love of my life as well. I know that I haven’t been completely honest with you, and I apologize for that. I promise to now on speak from my heart with sincerity and truth. That includes letting you into my life with no more cover ups. Throughout this entire time, there’s been a man that has helped me through thick and thin, taught me to become a woman, and loved every single particle of my being no matter what. He gave me the most precious gift I’ve ever received, that being my daughter Rhi, but most importantly, the relationship that created her in the first place. In order to meet my Prince Charming though, you’ll have to come to the wedding, and personally introduce yourself to the groom, although I have a feeling you might know him already. Please keep an open mind and an open heart. With love, your daughter y/n.”
“What do you think?” you ask, scared to know his opinion.
“It’s perfect,” he nods. “Really, love. I think this will work.”
               “I hope so,” you whisper.
“I know so,” he kisses you on the lips. “It’s time for you to stop hiding in the shadows, to step out into the light and be seen for who you are, for who we are. There’s no more need to be scared, alright? I’m right here. I always have been and I always will be. And you’ve got a ring to hold me accountable to that promise, got it?”
“I love you, Brendon,” you smile up at him, unbelievably happy. “Thank you. For everything.”
“Of course, y/n,” he replies. “It’s not exactly how I thought it would go initially, but looking back, I wouldn’t have wanted it to go any other way. We have a beautiful daughter, so many blessings, and now an entire marriage to look forward to. I love you so goddamn much y/n. More than you will ever know.”
“Oh Brendon,” you mumble against his lips as you kiss him, then pull away, giggling. “You’ve given me the entire world and more. I think I know you love me.”
“Well in case you ever forget that I love you,” he kisses you once more on the lips. “I’m going to remind you ever single day of your life anyways. Okay?”
“I’m more than okay with that,” you can’t help but widen your smile.
“Now come on,” Brendon smirks. “Let’s send out these invitations and let’s get fucking married!”

Note
for the ask meme (TES, obvs): 3,9, 13 (for naemon), 23!
thank you!! i wrote this all last night and i havent checked for coherency or errors so forgive me if it’s a bit scatterbrained at times (although yall should be used to incoherency coming from me ghhgfg.)
____
3.) Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
someone said that they didn’t like serana and i was already sitting on the decision to unfollow them for other reasons and that. that was just the Final Straw.
but i think that’s it…? im so petty + impulsive (deadly combo) at times that maybe i did unfollow over a TES opinion another time but i can’t remember hgufuhfhxdfh
____
9.) Most disliked character(s)? Why?
OOF this is a hard one, ill list the ones that come to mind rn;
molag bal. needs no explanation
darren guitar or whatever his name is. im sorry to anyone who likes him but i just.. can’t. he’s so obnoxious. he was toned down in summerset, probably because different people were writing him if i had to guess but in the main and daggerfall covenant questline? awful. his goddamn womanizing jokes at every second of the day was “kim, there’s people that are dying” at its finest.literally one or two “haha ladies amirite fellow man ;)/haha ladies amirite……… lady ;)” jokes can be.. bearable albeit still annoying but there was so much more than that. or they were so obnoxiously written that it seemed to be more frequent than in actuality, either way, darren guitar? 0/10also my view of him hasnt gotten better since someone sent me a rude ask about how darren had more personality than prince naemon in-game due to me joking about how i don’t like him and then subsequently blocked me for being irritated about the rudeness of the ask + the fact that im 99% sure they were the anon that appeared in my fucking inbox defending darren guitar every single time i breathed a single word about him
i completely forgot he existed until you listed him as disliked and now i hate him even more. that fucking. bard from the bannered mare. the one that harassed carlotta until you told him to fuck off. i hate that dude. always have
abnur tharn. mildly obnoxious with some amusing lines until you find out what he did to queen ayrenn like. small dick mannimarco joke is now renounced, little man. Perish.my view on Estre is Complicated because she’s a really neat character and villain and ranks as a favorite in the latter department but from like, a moral standpoint i loathe her.also while it wasn’t like. pelidil levels of shittiness i’m not fond of how she hurt naemon– but then again……. now that i think of it, i really don’t know what’d she COULD do other than keep him in the absolute dark until he inevitably gets caught up in the Shitshow otherwise. i wouldn’t suppose naemon to be 100% willing to join in her efforts or even keep completely quiet about them if she did decide to talk to him about it or let him know; and for all we know, she could’ve planned to do so eventually in some way– but the suddenness of the AD hero’s infiltration of the veiled heritance probably ruined any semblance of a plan she could’ve had. so on second thought, even from a “naemon is a perfect being and i will protect him with my life and loathe all who hurt him” standpoint, i don’t dislike her too much. let’s just reduce estre to like.. honorable mentions on my “disliked characters” list then lmao(also “moral standpoint” as if queen ayrenn is anything close to the pinnacle of absolute morality. estre is objectively worse on that front, though, so i suppose i still stand by that)
speaking of which i really… don’t like pelidil. again, moral standpoint. and “naemon is a perfect being and i will protect him with my life and loathe all who hurt him” standpoint. otherwise, he’s a neat villain and the quest in which you cut him down was one of the more impressive quests in the game IMO, or even in the entire game series. good build-up.
this is getting too long so i’ll cut it there, that’s all the characters that come to mind rn anyways hfhgdhg
____
10.) Unpopular opinion about XXX character?
hmmmmmm
i guess if you view it in such a way, liking him is kind of unpopular– while there’s still a lot of those who even if not actively talking about him as a character, have praised his character/took his side/whatever, there’s also a good amount who don’t. not really in considering him a poorly written character, but rather from a (sorry to bring this phrase up so much so far) moral standpoint.
also, considering him in a semi-unironic “he did nothing wrong” way, which i do, is kind of unpopular– and i can understand that, in some ways. i dont think him snapping at the scene of the orrery was under his 100% control nor was anything subsequent, but there’s still the fact that he still is in an “i deserve the throne, fuck off” mindset in coldharbour, which, unless he’s STILL affected by the mantle and/or the orrery, is obviously a negative change in viewpoint compared to the “i’ll swallow my bitterness and remain loyal to my sister and the dominion, she is the rightful queen and i am just her shadow” you saw prior.
granted, i’d argue that even then, you have to consider the influence that pelidil had over him prior (as some have accurately put it before– whispered poison into his ear). especially with the fact that naemon’s quite young for an elf at… 26? around that age-range. i dont think altmer’s minds work in the way that, say, hobbits do, in that they age slower and this includes their mental capability, decision-making, etc.. (they obviously don’t) BUT, compared to an elf with more experience, there’s a bit of an… imbalance there. pelidil WAS the one who served naemon instead of the other way around so you’d figure the opposite if anything, but again, naemon = impressionable and emotionally vulnerable at the time.
anyways, got off-topic; my point was that naemon, when you consider the influence that pelidil and any other secretly heritance people that interacted with him, even when you use the fact that he still seems “corrupted” in coldharbour to frame him as bad… that ain’t it. there’s also the fact that he is being tortured, at that moment. big part of it. he PROBABLY isn’t in the right state of mind, to put it simply. but then again, i mean, one could still argue a whole “cool motive, still murder” take on it, so whatever. i dont know man ghfghduhbdfg
YIKES i rambled, holy shit. sorry. but otherwise, i dont think i have too many? there’s not much in the prince naemon…. sub-fandom, at least not enough to be able to render one opinion as unpopular compared to the next
(and i. Guess that headcanoning him as trans definitely has the potential to be unpopular. but i dont really talk about it or “enforce” it much other than off-hand comments that might imply such, drawing him with top surgery scars, etc.. so it hasn’t exactly been given any room to be considered remotely unpopular. haven’t gotten anon hate, snide comments, etc.. about any of it at all so it’s cool. but i’ve brought it up because… you know how fandoms are; if there was more to the prince naemon “fandom”, theoretically, it would be and therefore kind of IS an unpopular opinion. “does your arm hurt from reaching cassius” ok look, i just felt like i needed to provide one more unpopular opinion about naemon and i couldn’t figure out any other than that. but yes. yes, hurts a little)
____
23.) Unpopular character you love?
unpopular as in commonly disliked, or unpopular in… amount of people that like them? with the latter, it’s def naemon. i love him with all my heart gfigufhgdugdfh but then again who didn’t know that
with the former… hm. the thing is a lot of characters disliked in this fandom are disliked with good reason IMO– nevermind. almalexia. not to open any #diskhorse wounds but almalexia’s one of them ghdfhguhg jot that down
and i’ve heard some talk that veya is kind of unpopular, what with the recent summerset developments? yeah, fuck that, veya’s one of my favorites. this fandom (or. any fandom lets be real) has an awful tendency to praise any goddamn male character’s flaws or “negative” depth as redeemable character complexity and something that can be looked past, and yet, you see even REMOTELY the same amount if not more character depth in a female character and they’re hated. pointing this out is nothing new but it’s truly just…. something to behold.
and on that note im just going to renounce my prior statement of “a lot of characters disliked in this fandom are disliked with good reason” that’s the dumbest shit i’ve ever said. or perhaps an addendum stating that it’s only applicable to male characters is more in order? or that it’s the opposite for male characters: liked with bad reason. or… liked with over-exaggerated reason disproportionate to the actual amount of depth, complexity, and/or likeability said character actually has, paired with hatred for female characters with the same amount of complexity. “bruh don’t you obsess over prince naemon–” Yeah And What the Fuck Of It
anyways moving on sorry i got distracted hgdfgyfgh. that’s all the characters that come to mind? disregarding characters that are unpopular in an unappreciated sort of way rather than a disliked way, i really dont have a lot

elaina ! :)
lays down, mai ily. anyways?? someone pls save elaina she Needs help
What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?fairly long?? but not super long it’d make her anxious. maybe twenty minutes. it’d be a different story if it was a life or death thing tho obv
How easy is it for your character to laugh?difficult. from one to ten w one being v easily she’s like a 7. but for full uninhibited laughter it’s a solid 9. she mostly smiles and when she does laugh it’s at the dumbest things
How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)she’ll lurk on instagram or think which are honestly both bad ideas for her bc instagram makes her depressed bc her social life sux and thinking makes her depressed bc she’s pessimistic and tends to overthink EVERYTHINg. however sometimes she’ll be smart abt it and read a book or look at plant pics or space which will more often than not successfully allow her to relax and get some shut eye
How easy is it to earn their trust?HM not too difficult prbly a 3 if ur nice to her and ur not a complete idiot- ok well. just if ur nice to her bc she literally falls in love w josie an idiot in her storyline
How easy is it to earn their mistrust?moderately difficult she has a hard time accepting that the ppl she trusts are capable of wronging her and usually assumes it was smth she did. she’s kind of an idiot like that so yk :) she’s prbly a 6 on that one? if we’re also accounting for the ppl she moderately trusts. however if we’re only talking abt the ppl she genuinely completely trusts it’s like an 8. she’s not COMPLETELy stupid but still p stupid abt relationships
Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable?rules should be followed. she accepts them as a given and that they will be followed as a given. it’ll srsly throw off her game if someone starts blatantly disobeying the law in front of her even if it is just a nominal thing
What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?she’s not a v emotional person? she does feel deeply but hmm i suppose she is fairly nostalgic. certain melodies played on the guitar would prbly be one of the bigger triggers. her mom used to play and she and her dad would sing like dorks but they?? kind of dont do it anymore and she misses it but she isn’t sure how to ask to do it again. it’s the same w disney movies. they don’t watch them as a fam as much as they used to anymore but they still do on occasion! as for enjoying it she doesn’t rlly like nostalgia?? but she lets herself fall into it frequently
What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child?she was constantly told to talk to the other kids. she’s never been v social or good w ppl as she prefers her small group of ppl she knows and is comfortable w plus she’s an only child so she’s always been forced to socialize esp in casual settings
Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?not super frequently. she does say damn bc that’s just the classic xstj swear word, her first she remembers v distinctly. it was “bitch” and completely her older cousin’s fault
What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?she lowkey feels like her entire life is a lie? she’s a smart gal and gets good grades easily. she’s close to the top of her class and is considered one of the smart kids. but she herself is convinced she’s painfully mediocre and despite her other talents and unique personality traits she’s like :) im sorry for lying to u all i actually have zero interesting qualities and am a drag but ofc she never voices that bc lbr insecurity? ugly and she doesn’t want to lose the few friends she does have bc she dumped her fears on everyone else. she is, as i said, a Mess
How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?she almost always pretends she understands but if she doesn’t feel like there’ll be negative consequences to asking for clarification and she’s feeling confident she’ll bluntly ask the other person to clear things up for her esp in a business type setting such as school projects, etc. it’s situational but socially speaking? she’ll pretend until she Dies
How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?ask nico to get it or just struggle for ages to try to get it herself
What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?she likes green and black but thinks she looks p drab in most things. in all actuality she prbly does look sharpest in black but yellow makes her look super cute, brings out a softer side of her. dark green is also flattering on her
What animal do they fear most?hm prbly eels esp electric eels. they freak her out for no particular reason. otherwise, she likes most animals and doesn’t mind most bugs
How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?she does usually think before she speaks. on the extreme she’ll turn over a phrase abt ten times in her mind before even considering speaking it aloud but that’s rare and only in high stress situations. despite the fact that she does think before she speaks she’s very blunt abt most things. lay it out like it is and all. embellishing sentences or softening her statements is smth she rarely does as she finds it inefficient
What makes their stomach turn?reckless behavior she HATES when ppl do stupid risky crap in front of her she finds it very unnecessary and anxiety inducing
Are they easily embarrassed?oh yes absolutely
What embarrasses them?everything. anything. her existence. ppl flirting w her. her parents. being teased. being incompetent. being singled out for anything. lots of things :)
What is their favorite number?she likes the number 60. no reason in particular it’s just a nice number. cue her friend, nico in the back yelling SIXTY???? MORE LIKE SEXY
If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?oh oof dont talk to her about love it throws her for an existential crisis. hm but if srsly asked this she’d prbly say smth like “familial love is smth we’re rarely allowed to choose. platonic is more logical and circumstantial, and romantic is a combination of the two in the sense that it’s ur heart’s choice to begin and ur mind’s to continue.”
Why do they get up in the morning? society dictates that in order for an individual to contribute meaningfully to the world, you must get up by 7 am and do whatever lot’s been handed to you. thus she, as a good functioning member of society, gets up in the mornings and drives to school day in and day out as fate has dictated her duty to be
How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)? erratic. she’ll act strangely and become more distant. if it continues for long enough she’ll eventually snap at whoever’s nearest and asking what’s up w her
How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)? it makes her sad tbh sldkfjlkj she’s like welp.. this is the lot i’ve been given if i don’t accept it that’s my problem. then she keeps her head up and carries on
Is sex something that they’re comfortable speaking about? To whom? she prefers not to talk abt sex. she’d be v confused if someone brought up the topic of sex casually tho she isn’t SUPER squeamish abt discussing it it’s just?? unprofessional so why would u? ofc w her s/o she would be more than willing to discuss it in order to smooth out questions or misunderstandings before yk. actually. doing the sex
What are their thoughts on marriage? marriage to her is one of the pillars of society, and while she respects people who don’t want to get married, for herself she views it a checkbox on her list of things she needs to do before she dies. it’s?? like she sort of has a timeline and marriage is on the list of things that need to happen sometime in her twenties. she believes marriage should be a mutually beneficial union based on love and respect and believes that along w family units it’s a wonderful invention. however, despite all of this she kind of doubts she’ll ever get married bc she’s like who would date me lbr here :) and while simultaneously seeking after marriage she’s resigned herself to becoming an eventual crazy old cat lady
What is their preferred mode of transportation? she prefers bullet trains. efficient, usually comfortable, she doesn’t have to drive- what more could you want? she’s also fond of walking if a place is close by. helps her chill
What causes them to feel dread? the feeling that a relationship is falling apart and the divide between herself and the other person is growing. the little things like not waiting for the other person after class or “forgetting” to mention another thing about their day- the small things that point to a relationship breaking down. if there’s one thing she hates more than unnecessary conflict and having to just end things then and there it’s watching things slowly fall apart. that is extremely dread inducing in her opinion
Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth? if u asked her? she’d say she prefers the truth. in reality? she prefers the lie. she internalizes things and oftentimes “unpleasant truths” can weigh her down for ages. frequently enough to note, she’ll allow herself to continue in ignorance rather than accept the reality of the truth which she’ll sort of know she’s doing but just push to the back of her mind in order to avoid the panic that comes with actually confronting the problem. ignorance is bliss and all. nevertheless, in the long run and in hindsight, she prefers the truth as ripping off the bandaid proves easier than pulling out misplaced stitches one by one
Do they usually live up to their own ideals? she doesn’t come close. she has very lofty ideals to which she holds both herself and others around her. she wants to be someone who’s looked up to as strong. she values efficiency, honesty, reliability and genuinely good motives as well as charisma, passion and confidence. she’s doing alright with the first few but the last three are debatable. she’s passionate about v select things and her confidence levels looks like a heartrate monitor
Who do they most regret meeting? herself. she regrets gaining sentience
Who are they the most glad to have met? josie ;) but nico and ale are close seconds
Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke? nope what’s a Conversation? what’s a Joke? she doesnt know them :)
Could they be considered lazy? that’s a no. she works extremely hard and nearly always carries through. it’s partially her nature and partially a way for her to “make up” for her perceived lack of talents
How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt? extremely difficult but w time she eventually can esp when given the right type of support
How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive? that’s. a hard one. she IS technically supportive but that’s only when she recognizes how much the thing means to the other person and she’s honestly rlly bad at reading these kinds of situations, so it’s rare that she actually does. she’ll kinda be like wtf but if she doesn’t recognize the other person is genuinely excited and invested in the thing she’ll do her best to give her own brand of awkward support
Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?she’ll pursue a romantic interest if enough proof that it’s plausible is given but it’s rare that she gets enough “proof” for this to happen. generally speaking, she kind of pushes her desire for romance down. she’ll worry abt it later or at least until josie shows up eyes emoji
Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)? not rlly? she’ll just go thru things multiple times she’s not the most innovative person when it comes to things like this. route memorization is her go to
What memory do they revisit the most often?;) depends on where in the storyline we’re talking but post story defo the time when she and josie went hiking w some of their other friends and when they reached the summit of the mountain the clouds were beneath the peak n completely coating the sky. it looked like a carpet of clouds, like another world and they shared a bit of a Moment. the little things are what elaina rlly cherishes
How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people?difficult she’s a bit of a critical person. she’s also not the most tactful when it comes to emotional intelligence related situations so ppl will likely find out she does see those flaws in them if they stick around long enough
How sensitive are they to their own flaws?not SO much but she does take things to heart. she’s sort of?? accepted her perceived mediocrity and general dullness but she’s in no way ceasing to attempt to change other things abt herself. so she’ll seemingly take criticisms in stride but they’ll stick w her when she’s Overthinking
How do they feel about children? kids are? good? she likes kids. as for having them, she’s considered it some and she thinks she might like to. at the same time, she also thinks she’d make a terrible parent- too harsh, bad w comfort, easily stressed. in all reality, she’d be better than most ppl as one esp after gaining a bit of confidence
How badly do they want to reach their end goal? rn the goal is graduating and she wants that fairly badly but she doesn’t particularly doubt her ability to achieve it. after that, it’s getting a good job which she also doesn’t overtly doubt as a certainty so yes she does want it but it’s not?? SUPEr concerning except when she begins to doubt her abilities and if she’ll ever feel like her life is fulfilling
If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they do so? she’s lesbian. she’d say it means she’s attracted to women
QUESTIONS FOR CREATORS
A) Why are you excited about this character?baby. she’s gonna find loveB) What inspired you to create them?love, simon! i wanted to write a cute lesbian high school romance so thus josie and elaina were bornC) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?nope!D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?nope again! she used to be full korean but now she’s half korean and half scandinavian! i think she used to be taller too she’s 5′5″ nowE) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?there are some aspects of each other that would get on the other’s nerves. like i dont think she’d appreciate the wonky outbursts i sometimes have and i’d get annoyed by her lack of social tact/annoyance at the world even tho i lowkey share those traits but otherwise i think we’d get along p well! i think i’d find her cute and i think she’d like my perceived confidence. we share a similar rationality as wellF) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?empathy she’s a big mood tbh and also i want her to be happy G) What trait of theirs bothers you the most?her lack of emotional intelligence. while i like blunt and logic oriented ppl it’d get slightly frustrating after a while to be around someone who’s a lil oblivious to social/emotional cues even if that’s a moodH) What trait do you admire most?her humble diligence. i have to complain twice as much as her to get half the things she gets done doneI) Do you prefer to keep them in their canon universe?i think she’d ALSO do great in a sci fi universe. ha maybe i need to give these kids a sci fi au verseJ) Did you have to manipulate or exclude canon factors to allow them to create their character?not rlly no!

Each time we fall in love, it feels more shallow doesn’t it? Similar to a draining river, leaks of you slipping into the tepid air with the break of another heart. I’d say each heartbreak becomes easier, a thinner veil of clearing glass that you can peer through to the past in order to help you pick up the pieces. Putting yourself together is so simple after a while, and the core, the part of you that doesn’t break, gets larger, stronger, and more sustainable to the pain of loss and love. But the clear and never ending through line remains the same
That once the smoke clears, you are broken and you stare deep into a hole and see a figure, a presence, the person who broke you first.
There is forever a crevice deep within us that holds onto the first love we ever had. It’s a dirty, damp place filled with memories, most of which are bad if you had the majority experience. I am gifted to lie on the other side of that fence.
When I was 17, I fell in love with a boy.
Now, when I say fell in love I mean, holy shit, I fell in love. And I remember the feeling because I still feel it to this day. Such an intense landscape of colors that surround the memories of us that I can funnel so much quiet contemplative energy to. It’s the only place I can truly store my sadness, where the bitter loneliness of my current state won’t taint it.  I can replay those nights together; I can feel them, taste them.
I met him through a friend at work. Who just randomly said, “You know Chris, right? Because you two would get along.”
Two weeks later I showed up at a house party, where he was. He was running around this place like a god damn idiot wearing women’s sunglasses at night asking everyone if he were pretty enough to ‘pull them off’ and if they said yes, he’d literally just pull them off.  It was the stupidest fucking thing I’d ever seen.
And that’s what it took. The dumbest joke in the world (which we would argue over a lot when we would have a ‘dumb joke off’) to cause a teenager who had never really opened her mind to anything, ever, to pull apart and crumble.
Chris dealt with me in a way no one else would, which mean he very rarely put up with my bullshit. Charly at 17 was conceited, a brat, ignorant and brash. My mind was a salted sea of nothing until Chris came along. He found it his personal mission to teach me things I’d never heard of before. He, of course, was a philosophy major, which was just the worst because he never shut up about it.
Our first date, I took him to try sushi (Tony’s Sushi, which I guess if you’ve known me for awhile, know its one of my favorite places on earth. Now you know why) He’d never had it before and also decided that night that he was never going to retire the ‘walrus’ chopstick joke and created a walrus character that I kept feeding fish to. We took a walk around the Ocala Square where we named all the horses. Chris yammered on about a thousand things, and for the first time, I became the listener. He was so invested in his study of life, and it swept through me like wildfire.
I tried everything to win this guy over, all my good moves. But in Florida, the good moves are just wearing a titty shirt, short skirt, and talking about how much we love giving head. Again, Chris saw right through this ass-hatery and shut me down about it pretty quickly. But I still played the card of awkward late teen turning twenty and crashed and burned almost every chance I got. Chris would just laugh and give me this stupid crooked smile that made him look sleepy. (“Take a nap you weirdo”)
So, after a few years of putting my best foot forward, I settled into an amazing friendship.
Then I moved to Charleston.
I would creep on him about twice a year when I went back home to Florida. For the next four years, that was our relationship. We’d text every few months, and I’d see him briefly while he poured drinks at whatever bar he was working at that year.
My heart ached, as it still does, to be with him. I hated Charleston, even though it gave me my love of improv and taught me a very difficult lesson. But it also gave me the rare opportunity to begin one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.
When people say you shouldn’t change yourself for anyone, I think that’s bullshit. People should change you, shape you, mold you with experience and words and art and create you. You can internalize this but you can’t deny it. Be the best version of yourself, but let other people help you realize this.
“My dream job is to be a stand up comedian.” Chris once said to me while we ate sandwiches in a hot tub. Three years later I took the stage at the Upper Deck in Charleston and mumbled my first set of ridiculous jokes to a bare bar and I’d never felt happier. The first thing I did when I got off stage was text him.
“I’m so jealous and proud of you!” in all caps was his response. If you’ve seen me do any type of comedy, whether it’s old stand up, improv, or bits between friends, now you know why.
“Ancient Philosophy is my favorite, Socrates, Aristotle, Parmenides” He would sprinkle me with bits of personal flashes of himself that sent me running to the bookstore. If you’ve seen my very large personal library, now you know why.
“I love it when you teach me about the constellations. It’s so interesting!” If you’ve ever seen me look up at the night sky, when it’s glittering and perfect, and just stare. Well, now you know why.
I made the decision to move to Chicago on a whim with one of my best friends over drinks at a bar. 6 months later, in July, I moved. But before I uprooted myself, that March, I took one more trip to Florida to tell Chris in person.
I coordinated with my cousin that we’d meet up at his bar after seeing a movie (That James Franco Wizard Of Oz) and grab some drinks (Bud Light probably).  As always, the first thing He’d do after seeing me was hug me over the bar and demand to know everything about everything in my life, which I obliged, leaving out the fact that Chicago was in my near future.
When Anna, my cousin, slipped away to the restroom, I stood up on the horizontal legs my stool (Something all of you have probably seen me do), and told him I had a secret. When I told him that I was moving to pursue my love of comedy, he literally leapt across the bar, grabbed me in his arms and screamed. He swung me around and around and everything was dizzying and beautiful.  “This is so cool!” he said over and over again.
We talked about it all. The scene, what the city was like, what my plans and dreams were, and I just remember him watching me, listening. The details of this memory are what make it my most treasured. His sleepy crooked smile (Chris, take a damn nap, ya weirdo!), the sky blue hue of the bar neon lights that drowned out the similar color of his eyes, his plain gray shirt, which he ALWAYS wore, the cant of his head as he listened.
Anna left soon after, and I closed the bar down with him. We sat trying craft beer until about 4 am, and laughing about literally everything. He took me into the office as he counted the bar till and he gave me a bunch of St. Patty’s Day swag that consisted of sunglasses, green beaded necklaces, and a XXL T-shirt. I drunkenly put all of it on and danced the Charlie Brown dance, which he called the dance of my namesake.
Then we went to Denny’s and he yelled at me for not liking Avocado on my sandwich, and our servers name was Tammy. He then demanded we go back to his place because I was “in no state to stop drinking!”
“Ok ok fine, but that means I’m crashing on your couch.” I huffed out of an open window, staring upwards at the Florida stars. “No, you won’t, you see, I got this bed and it sleeps two.”
He shifted the gears in his car. We sped onwards.
The next morning he took me to Starbucks. Chris had this golden Starbucks card that he loved to flaunt about and I just rolled my eyes because no one should love coffee as much as that boy did.
When he dropped me off at the bar, he gave me his signature hug and I trotted off, screaming over my shoulder that I’d be back to steal him away to Chicago someday.
And that was the last time I ever saw him.
A storm took him from me. Violent and unforgiving, terrible and pure. I remember everything about him; I remember everything about the day I found out.
They say the hurt gets better, but that’s bullshit. It just gets covered up. Shallow love that feels great at the time, but internally you’re still harboring a core so unbreakable and designingly you that the pain never changes. Sometimes, that same storm washes over me, and it feels like I’m finding out all over again. Its so overwhelming that it vertigoes everything around me, and I’m lying on the floor ugly crying because I miss him so fucking much.
It tremors and breaks the very ground I’m trying to cling to, and on some days, days like today, I just feel like letting go. To sink back into the feeling of my first love, the one that never feels like any of the others, and remember.
If you ever wonder why I am the way I am, It’s all because of Chris.
And now you know.

50 More Interesting Questions
Rules: fill this out and tag at least one person you’d like to know more about! Or just fill it out! Or don’t! Answer only some of them! Make up your own questions! “What kind of requirement is that”, you ask? A reasonable one! Who am I to tell you what to do? Anything goes!
Thank you for tagging me @theempresskaizer & @kakihoden! :D <3
1. What kind of food can’t you stand?: Anything fermented. Like, ew. Also brussel sprouts (Then again, I have yet find someone who can cook brussel sprouts “well.” :b)
2. If you could choose one minor inconvenience to never have to deal with again, what would you pick?: Public transit schedules. They’re so darn inconvenient (And yet I’m commuting for the remainder of my uni career. At least I’m saving money..?). -.-’
3. Have you got any useless talents?: I try to make use of my talents, so I’m gonna say no. :b
4. If you could be really really good at one thing, what would it be?: Taking (good & worthwhile) risks because I’m always so darn careful so I end up not trying new things sometimes.
5. Name a few people you think are extremely good-looking: ALL THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY I KNOW AND LOVE. <3 Oh, also Emma Watson, Gal Gadot, Shawn Mendes, Tom Holland, and all the other celebs I tend to fangirl about (I can’t name them all rn, haha sorry~. :P).
6. What was your favorite way to pass the time as a kid?: Singing all the Disney songs (Which I still do nowadays, haha~.). I would also read books, write my own stories, and act as if I was on a Disney Channel show (I was quite the Disney fangirl back in the day. xD)
7. What is something you’re proud of?: My friends who are just starting college/uni this year. Most of them are already setting up their dorms and getting ready for classes. They’re growing up so fast! :’)
8. What’s one character flaw in people that you just can’t tolerate?: Dishonesty. I don’t associate with phonies.
9. Do you consider yourself to be more of a leader or a follower?: I’m a bit of both. Then again, being a follower makes you a kind of leader: you essentially lead people to follow your leader, if that makes sense Okay I’ll shut up about leadership theory sorry y’all. :P
10. What kind of student are/were you?: The diligent one (but people often claim I’m the overachiever even tho I’m not always a straight A student lololol).
11. Butterfly effect question! Has there ever been a seemingly minor decision you’ve made (at the time) that ended up having a profound influence on your life?: Ohhhhh yes. This kind of thing has happened to me many times (In like the best ways possible, thankfully.).
12. Name your most irrational fear/aversion: Being alone/left out (Even though “I’m never really alone” ((Which I know I’m not. Hence the “irrational” part of this particular fear/aversion.)).)
13. Are there any fictional characters you find especially relatable?: Yup. Plenty of ‘em.
14. If you drink, what kind of drunk are you? Alternatively, what sort of person are you at parties?: I don’t drink... Yet. My Canadian friends are trying to get me to drink with them since I’m now legal in Canada but I’m scared heeeeeelp. :b I’m usually the wallflower if I don’t know anybody too well at a party. However, if I find people I’m comfortable hanging out with, I’ll stick with their squad throughout the event, talking, eating, dancing and taking pictures/SnapChats to our hearts’ desires~. ^-^
15. Do you fall in love easily? Or does it usually take a long time for you to trust someone?: Nope. I have to get to know the person before I “fall in love” with them, let alone having a crush on them. Which is why the biggest crushes I’ve had were on some of my closest friends. But I’ve never told them because I didn’t want to risk our friendships IDK I’M A NOOB WHEN IT COMES TO LOVEY-DOVEY THINGS. :b
16. Would you rather have one close friend or 100 casual friends?: One close friend. <3
17. Do you consider yourself to be more of a slob or a neat-freak?: Neat-freak. Definitely a neat-freak. xD
18. Describe a place (imaginary or real) that you would find incredibly cozy:
Both of these locations are places where I’d have more than enough room to move or think. ^-^
Outdoors: Somewhere near the sea, where I could feel the sand on my toes, hear the waves splashing onto the shore, smell the ocean breeze, and watch the orange sunset glowing along the horizon.
Indoors: An empty practice room. Wooden floors, large mirrors in front of the room, dance barres along the side walls, a few windows displaying the outside world, and a speaker/stereo system perfect for blasting the music around the room.
19. Do you have kids? If not, do you want them someday?: No kids atm, but I love working with them! Yes, I’d like kids someday~.
20. What was your favorite book as a child?: I read many books as a wee child. But one book I can clearly remember is Stellaluna. It’s an adorable story about a bat who discovers who she truly is thanks to both her adoptive and biological families (The former being a family of birds and the latter being a family of bats.).
21. Name one thing you just don’t get what all the hype is about: Fidget spinners. I’m still seeing people freak out about those things. Didn’t the trend die a month or two ago?
22. Name one thing that you think is tragically underrated: Myspace. *evil laughs despite the fact that I never had a Myspace account* :P Sorry I couldn’t think of anything else bahaha~
23. If you had to be glued to a person for a month, real or fictional (who you have never met), who would you choose?: I mean, I’ve never met MYSME’s 707 IRL, so I’ll stick with him And we can visit his space station, haha~ ^-^
24. What’s something you’d like the chance to do someday?: Act in a theatrical production. I haven’t done theatre in a year and I already miss it. T.T
25. Do you typically speak your mind when you have a controversial opinion? Or do generally prefer to not rock the boat?: I’ll definitely speak my mind if I’m well-versed in the topic and if I’m passionate about it. If I want to present a controversial opinion, I have to be sure that I can articulate my POV eloquently and professionally. I’m also more than willing to listen to the other side, as long as they fully know what they’re talking about (Frankly, I will not take any B.S. if I suspect B.S.).
26. What’s the dumbest fad you’ve been caught up in?: I’m blanking... Yeah, IDK, but I’m pretty sure I got caught up in some kind of dumb fad back in middle school. *shivers b/c I don’t want to relive those years*
27. What’s something you thought was cool as a kid/adolescent, but now cringe at yourself for?: When I was younger (like elementary/middle school-age), I dreamed of becoming a singer. In order to accomplish that dream, I joined my school and church choirs: however, that turned out to be a pretty toxic experience since almost everyone I was singing with treated every single practice and performance as a singing competition. Like, c’mon you guys: we aren’t on Glee. -.-’
28. What’s a trait you consider to be very admirable?: Honesty: I admire people who are genuine and true.
29. Is there a particular kind of item people always tend to give you as gifts? (For instance, people always get you things with ducks on them because you like ducks, etc.): Books (people know I’m a huge bookworm), clothes (b/c I’m usually too lazy/don’t have time to shop for my own clothes, LOLOL), stuffed animals (I’m a child at heart and I love cuddly & cute things), sweets (especially chocolate).
30. Do you speak multiple languages? Which ones?:
English is my mother tongue.
I apparently used to speak Tagalog fluently when I was very young, but then I stopped speaking that language once I started preschool; however, I’ve picked up some terms over the years, so I can sort of dissect my parents’ conversations w/ the other adults (”Yes, Mom, I knew that you were talking about my uni stuff with Tita *insert name here*.” :P), plus I’m going to take a Tagalog 101 class in Autumn Quarter, so I’ll (hopefully) learn how to say complete sentences instead of just the names of foods, holidays, and Filipino Folk Dances. xD
I learned Spanish throughout my high school career, so I’m okay in that department even though I haven’t practiced speaking/listening/writing in that language recently. I’m still fluent enough to help my sisters with their Spanish homework, so that’s something. :P
I tried learning some French, Japanese, and Korean through various language learning apps, but to no avail.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
31. Would you rather live in the big city or the countryside?: Can I choose like a little town instead? Big city: the countryside would be MUCH too quiet for me (Plus I’d be much too tempted to run atop every hill Sound of Music style and start singing at the top of my lungs - which would probably annoy a lot of people, myself included. :P).
32. Has there ever been something you were certain you’d hate, but ended up loving?: Giles Christophe a.k.a my Midnight Cinderella bias. Ironic, huh? xD <3 Also Jumin Han from MYSME. :P
33. Do you mind being the center of attention, or do you prefer the spotlight to be on someone else?: I will hide from the spotlight like I’m a friggin vampire unless there’s a damn good reason for me to be under it.
34. Favorite holiday?: CHRISTMAS!!!
35. Are you a more go-with-the-flow type of person, or do you need to have things planned meticulously?: If I’m in charge of scheduling something, then I MUST have everything carefully planned. If I’m leaving the scheduling to someone else, then I’ll just go with the flow~.
36. Is there something you loved so much you wish you could forget it and experience it all over again? (A tv show, book, series–anything.): My first trip to Hawaii: I’d love to explore the islands and swim in its oceans again.
37. What hobbies do you have?: Reading, writing, singing, dancing, listening to music, playing the guitar or ukulele, checking social media (JKJK :P), drawing/arts & crafts (If I’m EXTREMELY bored), playing video games, watching TV/YouTube, exploring places both old and new Yeah, I do too many things, haha~
38. If you could have a superpower, but it was only mildly useful, what ability would you want to have?: “Mildly useful?” (O.o) I guess the ability to learn things VERY quickly - like, master an activity on the first try. I actually have a friend with that ability, which has allowed him to almost effortlessly master almost every sport he’s ever learned: he’s basically a superhuman and I admire and envy him for his “superpower.” :P <3
39. Something people are always surprised to learn about you: My age: people think that I’m much younger than I actually am, mostly because of my shorter-than-average height and my baby face. I’m basically an adult stuck in a teenager’s body. xD
40. Something that took you way too long to figure out: How to apply the Unit Circle to various math problems eff you precalculus and calculus never again ugggghhhhh.
41. Worst injury you’ve had?: My broken heart (JKJK, sort of. :P) I got burned by the metal tip of a very hot glue gun. Thanks to that, I have a tiny scar on my upper right arm.
42. Any morbid fascinations?: Does watching playthroughs of horror games through YouTube count?
43. Describe your sense of humor: Clever/witty, sarcastic, sassy. Oftentimes unintentional: jokes will usually come to me naturally through conversation. If we’re close, plenty of embarrassing stories, inside jokes, and horrible puns will be part of our daily doses of humor.
44. If you had to be born in another era/place, which would you choose?: I’d want to be born in Canada, mostly because I’ve got a lot of family living up there, plus I’d love to live in a place that isn’t completely messed up rn. #SorryNotSorryAmerica *crosses to the Canadian border like a badass*
45. Something you are irredeemably bad at: LOL, WHAT’S A SPORT? :b
46. Something that sucked but you’re glad you went through: Freshman year of high school. I first moved to my new home that year, so being the new kid sucked for a while, but I eventually made some friends and found more opportunities to grow as a person (through writing and theatre).
47. Would you rather have a really godawful ugly tattoo in a place that is only slightly inconvenient to conceal with clothing (upper arm, thigh, etc.), or the coolest, most beautiful tattoo ever in the middle of your face? (Neither tattoo can be removed or concealed with makeup, and the ugly tattoo will deeply offend anyone who sees it.): Ugly tat. At least I’d have a place to hide it. xD
48. Are you more of an optimist or a pessimist?: Realist. Leaning on the pessimist side. However, I do try to believe that things will get better, that there’ll be more bigger and better opportunities out there, etc. etc.
49. What would be the most flattering compliment someone could give you?: That I’m a hardworking and genuine person. Then again, I don’t do well compliments anyway: I’ll definitely blush and stutter and try to hide behind some kind of an object while complimenting you back. xD <3
50. Something you feel people often misunderstand about you: I’m often quiet and reserved when I’m meeting new people. Some may think I’m naturally calm and composed, others take it as slightly intimidating. But I’m just quiet because I’m awkward, plus I don’t usually start conversations. :b
Tagging: @princessofwysteria, @sukio-sakamaki, @allforthecrown, @o0w0o, @widzzicles, @rizosrojizos, and anyone who wants to do this! (I would’ve tagged more peeps, but I didn’t know if they had been tagged already. So please join in if you haven’t done this already~.). ^-^ <3

THIS HAS BEEN FUN TO PLAN AND I HOPE YOU FIND A BIT OF JOY READING IT!
PG13+ FOR SWEARIN’ AND BOOZIN’.
CH.1 PT.1 | CH. 1 PT. 2 | CH. 2 | CH. 3 | CH. 4 | CH. 5 |  Ch. 6 | Ch. 7 |
Swinging in the backyard Pull up in your fast car Whistling my name Open up a beer And you say, get over here And play a video game
I'm in his favorite sun dress Watching me get undressed Take that body downtown I say you the bestest Lean in for a big kiss Put his favorite perfume on Go play your video game
Red rolled his head around as he let out a loud yawn. His eyes blinked firmly a few times as the bottles of liquor fuzzed before him. He was tired as hell and could barely keep from falling into a short nap behind the bar.
“Yo, sleeping beauty, my order? Hello?” Cannon smacked his brother a few times with his notepad, “Wake up, I don't have all day.”
Red recoiled as he felt the hits, grumbling as he finished up the drinks he had earlier started, “Cut me some slack, man. I'm running on three hours of sleep.”
“Not my fault, you’re the one who stayed out all night after your shift. You should've thought about how tired you'd be before you went and had a late night rendezvous.”
Zen slid a full shot glass towards Red, “Take that, it will help. I need you alert, it's getting a bit busy.”
In his dazed confusion he took the shot obediently, eyes widening as the liquor burned down his throat and into his stomach. “Damnit, Zen! What the hell did you give me?”
“Just a bit of 151, it won't hurt yah.”
“You're trying to kill me with that rubbing alcohol?” Red coughed out, “I'm sure as shit awake now, my life flashed before my eyes.” He finished Cannon’s order and placed it on the tray, rubbing at his chest, “You could have at least warned me.”
Zen pat his back firmly a few times, “You would have objected if you knew what it was. Help me get these drinks for Sunny, she's got a table of eight waiting.”
 Jingle~!
“There’s the man of the hour!”
 “Tom!”
Red looked up from the beers he was filling up, smirking towards the man that walked in, “Fancy seeing you in here.”
Tom. A squirrelly, lanky type with a head of shaggy brown hair that came to Eros often only to shoot the breeze with Red who was one of his best friends. They lived in the same neighborhood as kids and often got into trouble when they were together.
“Hey Tom, how's life in the fast lane?” Zen called out, eyes too busy mixing drinks to turn properly to address the man.
“I dunno, got stuck on the on-ramp. I'll let you know when the traffic let's up.” Tom sat himself in front of Red and gave him a wide grin, “So that was fun yesterday, eh? We should go out more often, you're always stuck at work.”
“Yeah, being an adult with responsibilities sure is the pits. Why aren't you at work? It's still pretty early for you to be here.”
Tom shrugged, “They think I'm in the bathroom. I'll give it about half an hour before they start wondering where I am. That’s not important, though. That sassy blonde was asking me about you this morning. She sure was disappointed that you left with-”
Red cleared his throat loudly, glaring at his friend, “Tom, how’s your girlfriend? Still out of town for college?”
The brunette frowned, “How about a beer, bartender? Why are you being so sensitive?”
“What I do in my spare time doesn’t have to be showcased here,” Red hissed, “Just keep things to yourself, alright?”
“What did you do last night, Red? It must have been quite the party if you came to work so tired!” Zen poked into their conversation, casually pouring a few drinks for a fresh order, “You didn’t even invite me! Any pretty ladies?”
Red groaned now that Zen had overheard, “We played video games all night. You know me, so nerdy.”
Tom snickered as he took a sip, “Oh, we played alright…”
“How about a round of shots on me?” Red called out as he tapped his hands loudly against the bar top, “But don’t let Zen pour them, he’ll knock you out until next week!”
Zen let off a pout as he finally backed off, “Fine fine, sheesh. Don’t let your ol’ pal in on your fun.” His attention was stolen by a few ladies that had walked up to the bar, all thoughts of trying to find out what his employee had done the night prior flew out of his mind as he flashed them a smile, “Well hello~ What can I get you gorgeous women? A drink? A shot? Me?”
The group giggled and one of them leaned forward as she looked him over, “Could we get a few martinis? We’re celebrating my birthday and having a girl’s night out.”
His red eyes sparkled as she had given him quite the bit of attention, “Well happy birthday! Of course you can get some martinis! First round is on the house for the birthday girl.”
“And next round is on me!” Tom interjected, smiling deviously at them.
“The round of shots after that? You can take them off me. They’ll be free if any of you ladies can find my ticklish spot.” Zen countered, now feeling the need to exert a bit of dominance since Tom had slid his way into the exchange.
“You boys are silly!” One of the other girls laughed, “We’ll be sitting at the table over there if you want to come join us.”
Tom stood up and shot Zen a wink, “Don’t mind if I do. Put their drinks on my tab.”
Zen scowled as they walked off towards the table knowing he was far too busy to join them, “You know, Red, your friend really kills my mood.”
“Leave me out of this~” the other bartender sang out, “I want nothing to do with you two’s flirting battle. As you said before, we are getting pretty busy, let’s stay on top of things.”
 Jingle~!
 “Hey Everyone!”
 “Duckie!”
The blonde smiled and waved, making his way towards the bar before he heard a voice call to him, “Duckie! Kiddo! Come join us!” He whirled around to look at the summons and seeing Tom surrounded by multiple women he dashed to hide around the bar. “Damn! Why does that guy always try to round me up in his escapades! I thought he was out of town for work, Red?”
Red slid a glass of beer towards him, “Yeah, he got back two days ago. He was going to call you last night but I told him you’d broken your phone. You’re welcome, by the way.”
“Yeah, thanks for that! He keeps trying to set me up! What is with that guy?”
“He wants everyone to have a good time, and he feels sorry for you. You’re a bit lame when it comes to getting dates.”
“What!” Duckie exclaimed, “I do just fine on my own! In fact, I have a date this weekend!”
“Study groups don’t count, bud.” Zen said as he placed some glasses in the sink to wash, “You gotta get ‘em one on one. You know, a nice dinner, maybe a movie. Why don’t you ever go out with...wait a minute!” he glared at Red, “You guys invite Duckie but you don’t invite me? What gives, man?”
Red let out a sigh, “Look, I don’t go out, it’s Tom. If you went, you’d steal all of the attention and he wouldn’t be happy with that. Look at him now.” He nodded his head towards the table, “He’s probably pulling out every line in the book on those girls and if you were there they would be fawning all over you. Let him have this one, Zen. You get enough numbers already.”
Cannon lazily came up and set his tray down at the bar top, “Speaking of which, another round of martinis for Tom’s table. They also asked when those body shots would be ready.”
Zen quickly whipped up the drinks, adding a round of shots to the tray along with a salt shaker and some limes, “I’ll take these myself. Red, watch the bar for a few. If Tom wants a battle, then he’ll get one!”
As the guys watched him walked towards the table, he placed the tray on to the side, “I heard you were requesting those shots?”
Tom frowned but didn’t object as to not ruin the mood all around. He knew he had to pull his biggest tricks to take some of the attention off the other male that could woo a room just by flashing a smile. “Just remember what he said, ladies. You find the spot where he’s ticklish and they are free!”
Zen bowed his head slightly, “Yes, I did promise that and I am a man of my word! So, who’s first? Who thinks they can find it? Just sprinkle the salt where you think it’ll make me hot!”
Cannon scoffed as he went towards a table that had waved him over, “Does that shit work on anyone?”
“You’d be surprised.” Red said flatly, “It’s gotta be his looks that make them forget he says the dumbest things sometimes.”
“What’s going on over there?” Sunny piped up as she had approached the bar from the back area, “Some sort of special event?”
“I think some girls are going to take body shots off Zen. That guy...he’s my hero.” Duckie sighed as he turned back around, “He could get a date whenever he wants.”
She scrunched her nose in disapproval, “What a gross display. Are these things they really do in public? How much more macho can someone be?”
“Me first, me first!” One of the girls squealed out. She motioned him to unbutton his shirt which he did, showcasing his amazing physique to the other girls. Poking at the skin right above his belt, he grinned mischievously, “My my, you are bold! I’m going to have to lay down for this.” He cleared the table off and draped himself a top it. He put a slice of lime in his mouth as the girl sprinkled salt on the area. She quickly took the shot and licked slowly along his skin before reaching her lips over to take the slice from him. He waggled his eyebrows at her making her spit the lime to the floor and pressing a kiss to his lips. The folks around the table cheered, Zen moved to stand up keeping his arms around the girl, “Close, but not the right place! Hey, you know what? I’ll change the rules. Find a ticklish spot on either me or Tom and the drinks are free! Who wants to give him a try?”
Tom shot a surprised look towards Zen, “What? I mean, yeah!” The white-haired male leaned in to whisper in his ear, “Look, I don’t know what idea you have about me, but I’m not greedy. I’ll always make sure you have a good time too.” A smile spread across Tom’s face as he carefully nodded in response, “Ah, perhaps I did misjudge you. No hard feelings, eh? Ladies~!” He pulled up his shirt, “Zen has made a grave mistake since I am very ticklish so pick your place!”
Sunny rolled her eyes as the acts continued, “How disgusting. It sometimes truly amazes me how barbaric humans can be.”
“Jealous that you can’t lick Zen?” Cannon jeered towards the girl as he set up his tray, “I’m sure if you just asked nicely he’d be more than happy to oblige.”
“That’s not it!” She cried, cheeks blushing furiously at the thought, “Some people just have no shame! I have half a mind to go over there and say something-”
The presumed birthday girl came around from the restrooms and stopped at the bar, eyeing Red carefully, “Say, your friend Tom over there said you were really into playing video games. I like playing games too. Maybe you could come over to my place after you get out of work and...go a few rounds with me.”
Sunny clapped her hands together and gave a big smile, “Now see! Here’s a woman with some sense! She doesn’t care for that ridiculousness that is happening over at the table and wants to share a common hobby with you. There is hope in this place!”
The woman quirked a brow at her and nodded slowly, “Right...well...here’s my number…” She slid a piece of paper towards Red, “I know a few other people that might want to join in, if you’re interested.” Waving her fingers to him she walked back towards her friends, Red reached over and took the number to place in his pocket.
“Really, Sunny? Did that go over your head?” Cannon let out incredulously.
 “Huh? What do you mean?”
He walked behind the bar and leaned over to whisper a few things into her ear. She let out a gasp and glared at Red, “You too? I work with pigs! I’m going to check on my tables.”
Red finished up the rush of orders that had come in staying mostly silent the entire time except for a soft chuckle in response to Sunny’s reaction. His brother stared at him, “So you’re really going to just keep quiet? Act like nothing happened? If they only knew-”
“Knew that I liked to play video games a lot with friends? Yeah, they know that and that’s how they will continue to think. My personal affairs are not for public consumption, you all get enough of that with Zen. Order up, Cannon, you’ve got work to do.”
Cannon sighed deeply and took his tray, “Whatever you say, bro.”
Red pulled the paper out once everyone was distracted, looking at it then towards the girl at the table who managed to catch his gaze and shoot him a wink, “A few rounds indeed.”
“Say Red,” Duckie waved him over, “Why don’t you ever play video games with me? I know you do it a lot and so do I. You never invite me!”
“Well you see, Duckie,” Red walked over to refill the beer glass for the blonde, “I’ll let you in on a little secret. I don’t actually play video games. Tom and I go scouting the town for people to bring home. Pretty ladies...handsome guys...you know. Anyone that wants a good time. So we head back to his place since he lives alone. Sure, we play games. Strip poker, naked twister. But by the end of the night it really just turns into a huge orgy! He wants to invite you for specific reasons, you know. Sometimes there are just too many ladies to handle and we could use some helping satisfying them all!”
Duckie sat mouth gaping open as he listened. He finally shook his head and glared at Red, “Like hell you do that! I know your life isn’t that exciting! If you don’t want to play games with me you don’t have to make up an elaborate lie like that. Geez…”
“You’re right, buddy, i’m sorry. We both know I’m not capable of anything like that. I’ll make you a deal! Next time I have an all-nighter with games you’ll be the first I call, okay?”
Duckie huffed and nodded, “You better! Ugh...strip poker...orgies...you have a really wild imagination, you know that?”
 “Yeah...imagination...Cannon! Order up!”
  **************
The next afternoon at Eros was forgiving as the customer flow was a bit slower than the day before. Red let out a loud yawn as he filled a glass with beer from the tap to pass to a patron down the end of the bar.
Zen handed him a cup of coffee, “It has Bailey’s in it, just so you know.”
“Funny that you mention what’s in it when it won’t kill me.”
“Funny that you are, once again, tired out of your mind. You really should have joined Tom and I last night. Man...was it crazy!” Zen sipped from his own cup of coffee, “Did a new game come out or something? You’ve been staying up pretty late these past few nights.”
Red hummed a bit as he drank, “Yeah, new game. Did you two have a good time?”
“I’ll say! You know that fiery little lady that kissed me on the table? Turns out that’s not the only trick she had up her-”
“I get it, I get it. No need for details.” Red groaned out, “I’ll just have to hear it again from Tom. Looks like you two get along now which is good. Maybe you both will stop competing.”
Zen shrugged, “A little competition never hurt anyone, but overall I think we both know we are on the same team. Hey, weird thing. The girl who’s birthday it was disappeared after a while. I wonder where she went? She was pretty cute, I bet she is a great kisser.”
“She is. And so is her boyfriend.”
“Oh, she had a boyfriend? No wonder she really didn’t stick around.”
Red nodded and watched his boss from the corner of his eye, waiting for the moment.
“Wait, you know she’s a good kisser? You know her boyfriend is a good kisser?! Red, what the hell?” Zen sputtered, dribbling coffee down his chin.
 There was the moment.
“Hmm? What was that?” Red smirked from behind his mug, “A brand new game, came out a few days ago. It’s been keeping me rather interested.”
Zen slammed his mug on the bar top and towered over Red, “Alright, spill. What the hell were you up to last night?”
Red pointed towards Zen’s shirt that had started to stain with coffee, “I think you’ve spilled enough for the both of us, boss.”
“Damnit!” Zen exclaimed as he dabbed a towel along his chest, “I’m going to go change but when I get back you are telling me everything! I knew you weren’t holed up in your apartment all the time!”
The other bartender removed his glasses from his face to wipe the lenses with his shirt, “Video games, boss!” He called out, “It’s just video games!” He laughed to himself, pulling out the piece of paper with the phone number from his pocket as soon as he placed his glasses back on, “Ah well, at least the ending was good.” He carefully tore it up, sprinkling the shreds into the trashcan before busying himself with a few drinks.
“Hey Red!” Sunny called out as she leaned across the bar top waiting for him to fill up her serving tray, “I thought Zen gave everyone a nickname and is really adamant about only addressing them in that way.”
“He does!” He replied, “At least to anyone he sees more than once. I thought he explained it to you?”
She shrugged slightly, “He did, but you guys call your friend by his name. Why is he an exception?”
“Who, Tom?” Red inquired, “That is his nickname.”
“Sounds like a real name to me.”
 “Nah, he’s simply Tom.”
Sunny squinted her eyes at him, “That just...doesn’t seem right. Everyone else has some weird name with an explanation! What’s the story behind Tom?”
“No story.” He said plainly, “He’s just Tom.”
“So it’s just...Tom? Your friend Tom?”
 “Yeah!”
She rubbed at her temples with two fingers, “Why do I even continue to stay employed here.”
“Because you have work to do. Order up!”
