I love how unapologetic mads is about his crush on hugh like "yes he's so tiny, he's the dessert, handsome man, cute ears, I would keep him in a small fridge and cherish his body for a long time and smoke those ears" *stares at the dancy-ass so much bryan decides to change the plot and make the show gay*

HANNIBAL (2013-2015) — SEASON ONE
Killing must feel good to God, too. He does it all the time, and are we not created in God's image? Depends on who you ask. God's terrific. He dropped a church roof on thirty-four of his worshipers last Wednesday night in Texas, while they sang a hymn. Did God feel good about that? He felt powerful.

hannibal loved will graham so much. like genuinely so much. he had presumably over 10 years of stability in baltimore and will graham comes into his life and he just devotes everything to him. devoted everything to guiding will to be what hannibal thought would make will the happiest. because hannibal finally found someone who was his equal. he finally found someone who could see him, completely and utterly, for who he was. he found someone he could relate to ("i see myself in will"). he finally found someone he wanted to be his companion. he found someone he could trust. (bedelia's "it's nice when someone sees us. it requires trust. trust is difficult for you" and hannibal's "i let you see me". He Trusted Will Enough To Let Him See Him) which had probably never happened before. or at least not to this degree. and right when he thought will finally returned this love and was accepting his love, and that they could be a family together with abigail, he figured out will had lied to him. and that was so crushing to him, so world ending, he destroyed his entire life in baltimore. and after everything that happened in italy, he massacred the verger estate to save himself and will. and when will rejected him, it felt so final and total that hannibal put himself in prison for THREE YEARS so will would always knew where he was, in the hopes that will would eventually come back to him. and then will did. and then will killed dolarhyde with him and revelled in it. and will finally called everything that hannibal had wanted for them, hannibal's way of expressing his love, beautiful. and hannibal was so happy, so complete, he let will pull them both off a cliff, because he was finally with will, truly and totally. will was all he ever wanted. he didnt need anything else

currently hiding from anything and everything that could hint at a season 4 because i feel so CONFLICTED.
do i think we'd likely be ultimately disappointed after all this time? yes absolutely.
would i still go batshit insane over new canon material? one hundred percent yes, this is a permanent hyperfixation, i'm not in charge here.
it's COMPLICATED, okay?

Do you think Hannibal ever missed being that boy who was torn apart in the snow? Because even through the excruciating pain, the unendurable torture, at least he wouldn't be the one that got away. He wouldn't be the man trying to piece together the remnants of his shards, trying to build a new foundation after an earthquake, trying to ignore everything that had happened to him, trying to go through the motions of life after the unspeakable. He wouldn't feel like a monster wandering among humans, humans who could never fathom what kind of void gaped within him and how desperately he was trying to forget the unforgettable. The only thing he would be is the broken boy, shattered and destroyed in the snow. At least he would feel every pang of hunger and pain that tore through his body. At least he would be helpless at the hands of his pain. He wouldn't have to struggle to be reborn from the ashes. He could just fall apart, let go, feel everything. And slip away.

kind of interesting to me how the majority of popular tv shows with lgbtq+ relationships (or hinted at lgbtq+ relationships) all center around morally questionable characters. like for example some confirmed gay romances are stede and ed (our flag means death) and eve and villanelle (killing eve) and in both of these shows, both of the characters in the ship are murderers and arguably bad people. some not confirmed ones are hannibal and will (hannibal) and nandor and guillermo (what we do in the shadows). again they are all terrible people who continue to do terrible things throughout their respective shows. i guess to me it just kind of gives the message that yes, we can have gay couples, but they both have to be morally questionable and almost undeserving of our full admiration if that makes sense?? like if you’re lgbtq+ you have to be a bad person to go along with it.
just interesting to me that you always have to feel at least a little guilty when enjoying queer ships in media because of this.

growing up, i've successfully kept myself from watching films with gruesome themes like the human centipede or final destination because i'd rather not be scarred for life, and after figuring out how dark of a show hannibal actually is, normally i would have stopped myself from watching it already. but too late, my curiosity on how hannibal and will's relationship develops throughout the story makes me want to keep watching. and it's been really fascinating to watch so far. there's no stopping now.

in case you forgot: mason taking margot's ability to have a child and giving her that scar was foreshadowing what hannibal would later do to will. kill abigail and give him a scar matching margot's. actually the whole margot/mason thing was a parallel to will/hannibal, in case you missed it. "he had to show me a negative so that I could see the positive".

I'm slowly falling into a rabbit hole for Hannibal. I've never watched the show and only knew Hannigram is a really popular ship and so in boredom I decided to watch some crack vids and now I can't stop learning more and more about the show. I have exclusively been reading Hannibal fics for the last 3 days! I CAN'T STOP
Why did no one ever tell me it was actually more like a crime series romcom??? I always assumed it was just horror and gore, kinda like saw (which i also haven't watched lmao) 😭

the thing about hannibal is that it is all completely text. like if there happened to be a sex scene between will and hannibal shoved in there somewhere it would not change anything. the characters are basically having sex all the time without actually having sex, to the point where if there was a physical sex scene it would not change the trajectory of the show at all. nobody who acts the way they do hasn’t explored each other’s bodies on a deeply fundamental level at least once.

NBC's Hannibal really Did That and created the most compelling and beautiful allegory for coming out in a world that is inherently violent towards queerness and treats it as horrifying, disgusting, and psychotic.
top of mind right now is Will's Becoming, started in S01E01 and fully completed in S03E13. buckle in folks, this may end up being a long one.
following the allegory, both episodes feature Will and Hannibal sharing a queer experience with one another.
in the first, Will (at this point, deeply closeted and in denial) engages with GJH in an effort to protect Abigail. Hannibal (also closeted, but more out of self preservation, certainly not out of shame) isn't directly involved, merely a passive observer, but he did orchestrate the experience by calling GJH to warn him they were coming. obviously, his actions at this point are driven by curiosity. what will GJH do? and what about Will? clearly, Hannibal has clocked Will as similar to himself (aka queer), but can see that Will is in deep denial and terrified of his urges.
and it's just so powerful to see that Will's first explicitly queer experience is within the context of self sacrifice for the good of someone else. he wouldn't have chosen it, but he had to do it. at this point, this is the only way his psyche will accept his queerness. this scenario also gives him plausible deniabilty about his reasons for engaging GJH. it allows him to admit to Alana that he feels "good" after the whole event, claiming that he feels good because he saved Abigail. even though we know at least part of the reason he feels good is that he finally got to indulge this particular urge.
but even so, the whole point of season 1 is Will struggling with his guilt. he has nightmares. he thinks he's a monster.
(side note: i also think it is just so perfect that it takes Will ten shots to get GJH, like of course our sweet baby queer boy having his first queer experience isn't very experienced. i can hard relate)
fast forward to the series finale, we find Will and Hannibal having yet another queer experience with one another, but this time they are equal participants and it is Will, not Hannibal, who ultimately orchestrated this encounter.
and what is so wonderfully interesting to me is that a (very) small part of Will seems to remain conflicted about what his role will be in this scenario right up until it is actually happening. will he walk away, leaving Hannibal and the Red Dragon to their own devices, and return to his heteronormative family? will he be an active participant with Hannibal? will he simply be a passive observer? the moment Will decides he's going to participate is so clear and this is the moment he fully, 100% comes into himself and arrives at full self acceptance.
and then, when it's finally over, and Hannibal holds him while saying, "see? this is all i ever wanted for you. for both of us." and Will, his eyes quite literally shining with joy and love says, "it's beautiful" while clutching Hannibal and resting his head on his chest, enjoying the embrace (do NOT get me started on Hannibal's expression of pure ecstasy, i will explode).
and to wrap it all up, we see Will quite literally take a leap of faith in the arms of his most beloved before tumbling off the cliff. together.
like. that is so fucking beautiful???? and i don't think there is ANY piece of media that will ever have this type of impact on me again?
anyway. congrats if you made it this far and stay tuned for more ramblings as i get my thoughts in order lmao i just really fucking love this entire show.

Did Hannibal really say "If I saw you every day, forever, I will remember this day?" or did I dream of it?
