My Analysis of the Best Paired Endings in 3H (Part 6: Ferdinand/Dorothea)
Tumblr media
(Normal): Thanks but no thanks, Mr. Noble. I already have my heart set on someone else. (Ferdinand & Dorothea support level B reached): I suppose I can settle for you just this once, Ferdie.
The writers obviously put a lot of love into this ship, as it's one of the rare times that the main story dialogue changes depending on Support level between two characters. Plus, since he asks her out on a date outside of their Support chain, it shows that Ferdinand is canonically interested in Dorothea. And this is true in Hopes as well. He fears his mind will "wander to other things" while training with her.
Tumblr media
Dorothea: Song and dance live on in our memories, but there's no real record of them. Even memories fade over time. Will anyone remember me when I'm gone?
Dorothea is a Libra, an air sign. Air signs are masculine, but not as much as the fire signs. Libras are extroverted, cozy, and friendly people. Libras, like the Scales that symbolize the sign, are often concerned with attaining balance, harmony, peace, and justice in the world. Dorothea had the motivation to join Edelgard's cause to dismantle the corrupt nobility. But she was also compassionate and hated the idea of fighting people she knew.
Tumblr media
Ferdinand: I will do what I'm called to do, even if no mark of me remains in the history books.
Ferdinand bears the Crest of Cichol, which is associated with the Justice Arcana. Justice is a signifier of legal matters being resolved in a fair and balanced manner. It represents the power to distinguish between what is fair and what is unfair, in an impartial way. Ferdinand's dream was to lead the Empire to an age of enlightenment and hold his father accountable for his crimes. The downside to his ambitions was that his life revolved around being recognized for his achievements.
Tumblr media
Ferdinand: That is true nobility! Acting in accordance with the people's needs and wishes. As war drags on, those living near the front lines inevitably get the worst of it. Still…Edelgard will not give in. She will push to complete her mission, no matter how many people die. Not everyone with noble blood has noble ideals.
His character arc was about exemplifying true nobility, defined as, "having or showing fine personal qualities or high moral principles and ideals." Not just being noble, defined as, "belonging to a hereditary class with high social or political status." And I would argue that opposing Edelgard was vital to his character arc.
Tumblr media
Dorothea: Oh, Ferdie. You opposed Edie for so long… I had real hopes for you, you know? Now you're following her. Is that your duty as a noble? Follow your master when they say to heel? Ferdinand: I will not try to explain my duty or hers. You would not understand. I wish you could.
Dorothea is one of the few non-lord characters that will actually react to another non-lord character's death. If you don't recruit Ferdinand, he will die at the Great Bridge of Myrddin so that his name goes down in history as "the legendary Ferdinand of Adrestia".
If Ferdinand does not complete his arc, Dorothea will be the one who is most disappointed. She will say she had high hopes for him, a reference to their B-Support where he made her treats, and she reconsidered him as husband material. His memory will not live on in the history books, but it does live on in her heart. It was hard not to think of this pairing as "canon" after I saw this dialogue.
Dorothea: Though we only knew each other briefly back at the academy, you were still my friend—but now our paths have diverged forever.
There's even a Hopes version of this dialogue available in Record Keeper. Similar to Edelgard and Byleth in Silver Snow, if Ferdinand and Dorothea's paths diverge, it is treated as a great tragedy of fate. It shows how much the writers favored this particular ship.
Tumblr media
(Normal): Yes… I have met someone quite charming recently. I'm hoping we can spend more time together soon. (Dorothea has reached Support Rank A with a male): I am. There is someone whose company I have come to enjoy.
While Dorothea is bisexual, she did seem to have a preference for men. The dialogue in her B-Support with Edelgard only changes if Dorothea has attained A-Support with a male character.
Linhardt: You've probably overcome a lot of tough times, haven't you? I think that's incredible, really, but why not just let go of the suffering and run away from the memories that cause you pain? I suspect you'll find it a better way of living. I know I do. Dorothea: That's not living, Lin. It's running away. If I leave my hardships behind, then all of that means nothing.
She only got into the academy by buttering up some noble, which suggests that she may have had to perform sexual favors. She had a poor self-image, despite her physical beauty. And that is why I think she pursued men so adamantly, even when she was not truly attracted to them. She was running away from her past.
Tumblr media
Dorothea: What's important isn't how someone looks, it's their true nature. I don't pretend to know your true nature. I don't even have a very good understanding of my own. But I suppose you see mine just fine, don't you? Just a silly girl with no thoughts in her head except for marrying a noble, yes? Good-bye, Felix.
Dorothea had to hone her masculine energy while living on the streets and performing in the opera. She despised the goddess (although she has a hidden talent for faith). Her paralogue with Ingrid showed how the two had contrasting views on marriage. Dorothea wanted to play the traditionally feminine role of housewife, with a noble husband fulfilling the traditional masculine role of provider and protector.
Dorothea: But if you and I were devoted to one another… maybe we could strive for the future you believe in. Maybe I'd finally understand your path and be able to think about more than just myself. Hubert: Seems it's my turn to not understand. Did you just propose marriage as a way to get to know me?
She was always looking for a wealthy husband to take care of her into her old age, and often came across as nothing but a shallow gold-digger. Because she was afraid of living in poverty, she would settle for a nobleman regardless of whether or not she knew him very well or was actually in love with him.
Tumblr media
Sylvain: You know, even when I was a kid, I never had trouble with girls. …But thinking about it now, I wonder what they liked about me back then. They didn't know everything about me… It's just confusing. Dorothea: Oh, where did that come from? No one can know everything about you.
She was at first dismissive of the idea that people need to know each other fully to get married. But she did commiserate with Sylvain about how people wanted to marry her without even knowing anything about her. However, she flirtatiously makes plans to grow old with him immediately afterwards. Even though they still barely knew each other.
Dorothea: I never had much to begin with in life, and I worry that one day, I'll be that way again… That's why I keep searching for someone who will love me. Someone unaware of the songstress, who can love a girl that used to be scared and alone on the streets of the capital… I wonder if such a strange person can even exist.
But what she really wanted was to spend her life with someone who did know her true self. Several of her endings depict her giving up on her goal of finding a rich husband. She is able to find love with Petra and Manuela and those are happy endings for her. But I still think the happiest ending for her is to find her dream man. A rich provider and protector who would know and love her as the scared orphan girl.
Tumblr media
Dorothea: Oh, really? You're something different? That's not how I remember things… It was the very day that I was discovered…
I think Ferdinand offered the best closure to her character arc. There was a palpable sexual tension between them in both games, with Dorothea pushing him away yet secretly desiring to be closer. I'd argue she has more far chemistry with him than any of her other potential partners. At the academy, Dorothea did not flirt or make advances on Ferdie, despite him being the exact type of wealthy noble she was after. But in the end, she was more open, honest, and emotionally vulnerable with him than she was with anyone else.
Dorothea: Maybe I can believe you. I've wanted to ever since the day you made me those treats… I thought then that maybe you weren't like the others, but… There's a lot I have to let go of, Ferdie.
The tagline for the game was, "Sweet memories twisted by time's cruel hand". By getting closure with Ferdinand, Dorothea could reclaim a sweet memory and let go of some pain from her past. Ferdie considered Edelgard his rival and prided himself on being better than her. But with Dorothea, he said he wouldn't mind a life of being a simple drone, circling a queen. So, they both find a new way to live with each other. This pairing is a more wholesome alternative for Ferdie than Ferdibert. But Ferdie still is kind of a sub.
Tumblr media
Ferdinand & Dorothea Ferdinand reclaimed the position of Duke Aegir and initiated reforms within his domain. Through his political methods, which closely aligned with the needs of the common people, the Aegir Duchy swiftly underwent reconstruction. Behind this success story was the significant contribution of Dorothea, the former songstress who became the Duchess, who dedicated herself to serving the commoners. Ferdinand, recognized for his achievements, was entrusted with governance across all of Fódlan. Despite being busy with his duties, he prioritized spending time with his family. He and Dorothea raised their children together, and their home was always filled with the sound of cheerful singing.
This feels like the picture-perfect ending for both of them. Dorothea achieves her life plan of marrying a rich provider and protector, overcoming her prejudice towards nobles. Her children carry on her legacy, and her memory will live on in their hearts.
And thanks to her experiences as an orphan, Ferdinand's policies benefit the commonfolk. He actually renounced his nobility and lived as a wanderer for five years because he did not believe in Edelgard's ideals, and he wanted to make up for his father's wrongdoings in his own way. He was prepared to leave no mark on history, but he is recognized for his achievements in the end.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by: @noodyl-blasstal thanks so much for thinking of me! Tagging: @the-barista-district
1. How many works do you have on A03?
I have only the one on AO3, I just started my account there not too long ago
2. What's your total A03 word count?
My wordcount is 78,284! It's one of the longest fics I've written in a long while
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Nowadays it's pretty much TAZ all the way down, but there's some old stuff I have on this blog that's WTNV adjacent and a couple things for The Arcana mobile game (playing in the setting with OCs, as is a preference of mine in general). I haven't locked up the deep archives of Marvel and Ranger's Apprentice and fuckin' Leverage, but I'm not gonna help you find them either
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
The only one I have on AO3 is Virtue and Vice, but the most popular fic I can find on here is Firelight and Beach Nights 1 & 2
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I love to respond to comments when I get them! I find them very encouraging and I will talk your ear off (or type your eyes off? is that a good perversion of that phrase? lol) about my Thoughts if you let me
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't know that I really have any with angsty endings? Most of my angsty ones are the ones I wrote alongside my rp with @the-barista-district as tie on/lead ins to that storyline
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Virtue and Vice has an ending that I'm really proud of, I feel like I managed to go full-circle on their story and end with a lot of potential and hope for the future. It's a story that became about growing up and choosing your family and who you want to be, and I lived in it for a year.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I have not and would cry (then delete the comment, bc fuck'em) if I did
9. Do you write smut?
I have written smut, yes. The stuff that's publicly posted is not my best (many years old now) and I won't link it, but it's all appropriately tagged #fanfic and #nsfw if you want to go searching (why?)
10. Do you write crossovers?
It has never occurred to me to do so. I'm generally more comfortable doing OC insert fic (with the exception of some TAZ stuff. Rping has helped me to figure out Kravitz so I'll write him sometimes) and I wouldn't know how to go about a crossover in that sort of niche
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I'm aware
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
*shakes magic 8 ball* Signs point to no
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven't, but I've rped a bunch and I feel like that's similar in some aspects I guess. Just, yanno, not really a finished fic out of it
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Taakitz is the one I gravitate towards, though I can also be persuaded by a Taagnus and a Blupjeans
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I've got a Taakitz fic on the back burner where Krav is a ghost but there's a time-recursion aspect and he thinks he's the one being haunted for a bit. I'd like to finish that but my brain has decided I'm doing something else (it's a fun something else)(still debating if I'll post)
16. What are your writing strengths?
I enjoy the characters and relationships that I build. Some are stronger than others, but I feel like I can generally get to a point where they're believable, and different dynamics can shine through. I love to get bogged down in the "where's the difference between what they're willing to say/do, and what they're actually trying to communicate", "how do they feel and how do they think they feel"
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I have to agree with Noodyl here and say that tense is hard, POV is difficult (staying as close as I want the narration to feel is the part that gets me more than head-hopping). Getting into established characters is especially difficult (hense, OCs)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I think it can be cool and have considered many times adding Spanish to things, pero no hablo ni escribo mucho en español (heh)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
One of my earliest is from the Ranger's Apprentice by John Flanagan, hidden deep in the archives of redacted where I shall not link the general public
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
There's been a lot of stories I love and a lot I've lived in over the years, even from the before tumblr times. Especially from those times. I'm just going to say Virtue and Vice again bc it's recent and I love it and I'm not linking to anything from my teenage years bc yeeesh

RQG 162
Never tire of that theme tune. Wow they'll tease Alex over anything. Alex teases em right back though.
Nice, what was that night like? Potion of Grizzop!?! Okay that does sound cathartic, maybe this counts as her "pop" and she won't explode from not expressing her emotions.
Cel is so great, putting Azu in a good position and tucking her in.
Been hanging around the fic writers too long, is the rocking chair canon? Did Azu take it with her to Cairo? Did she have to leave it behind to join the party?
It was a good move by Bryn, and frankly what's the point of spelling out Hamid is that damn rich if he isn't going to cheerfully cover a few expenses. Yes I know mechanically he probably only had his starting 3 gold after the casino and what he earned as a party member, vs access to family money. His attitude towards coming into that kind of money and spending it after, will however, be largely down to having been raised that rich.
Perks ears up for Zolf & Earhardt talking.
Ben can be so Ben sometimes! Yes its in character for Zolf, but don't preemptively turn down backstory!
Oh Zolf is talking about working for the meritocrats with Earhardt
And need to stop at minute 13 because apparently I can't correctly guess when I'll have an uninterrupted couple of hours* for love or money.
Eh low charisma or not, clearing the air as directly as possible makes sense.
"I don't scream, I shoot people ..." great line
Zolf is a good firstmate: a bad one would cross his fingers that everyone would behave like adults, he is handling it proactively.
Oh dice time. Skraak can assist on the engineering and alchemy. Hamid assists with the arcana. Fly as the final customization.
Oh time to find out if they are going there or not with the elementals
And another break for me. Ever get suddenly hit by how much you like a character because they clear a bar which would be on the ground, in a better world? Zolf doesn't a trace of the usual macho bull re: deferring to the expertise of someone he out ranks. even listening to Cel over Earhardt should be simple logic; with Cel being a new subordinate and Earhardt out ranking him its good to hear. Too many characters seem to take it as a threat to their leadership when one of their team, especially of another gender, can do something better than them, even if the only reason they are on the team is as a specialist.
Bryn in with the science trivia.
Cel votes for 3, because 1 is risky if anything happens to it and 5 is scary in the explosion odds sense.
Zolf remembered Cel likes electricity and summoned 2 electric elementals & 1 air. Cel is thrilled.
They are deliberately not making the Avengers reference.
Earhardt wants a spiky ship? Did the dragon grapple?
Zolf spends his free time healing and spreading hope; either Azu, Helen, or both are inspired by this and do the same.
Hamid finished making cold weather gear for everyone. Wow everyone laughs him out of the room when he tries to find an alternate captain. 3 crew are easily hired.
Oh ouch Alex just rubbing in how every crew member trusts her reputation as a good & caring captain and how that is probably no longer true. Gosh I hope getting her deck under her feet helps bring her back to herself. Its how I would expect her to break after what we saw of her on the way to Prague, but that doesn't make it pretty or pleasant. Would pay to know when Alex decided she would be attacked by a dragon; if this was fated at the first meeting than he could have designed her to break like this rather than based how she'd break on who she was then.
Uncommunicative lot, because Alex keeps spawning NPCs we keep longer than expected.
Hamid uses Zolf's money to pay for the crew not his own or Earhardt's in an elegant power move. He might argue with Zolf but he never did undermine him. Flipside to Zolf always arguing the actual subject and occasionally pulling rank rather than "how dare a subordinate not be a yes man".
Azu pays for her own mess after all.
Official break time
I am having trouble imagining anyone who would trade this much character time for getting to the plot faster, especially if they've seen the crime that is Bab's official timeline. Having Cel get to actually get to know the team instead of trauma bonding is a treat. **
Ship reveal! Beautiful
So the whole 18 month crew is joining us
Hamid made Wilde's famous fur coat
Air ship is now a battleship
Aw Hamid starts clapping and Azu & Zolf join in
The ship is called "the vengeance"
After toying with us again re: refusing to actually make the Avengers joke, Ben name drops "End Game".
Zolf tells Barnes to be prepared to take over if Earhardt loses it
Oh dear, the Cohort has better reflexes than Skraak, Hamid and Cel.
Cel questions Earhardt's flying as she puts the ship through its paces.
Zolf is keeping his feet well considering how poor he flew last time
Zolf tells Earhardt to knock it off.
Cel questions Earhardt to her face.
Twice the speed of Earhardt's old ship.
Azu finds it very pretty
Cel is right and they should say it. Zolf backs them
Zolf reassures Cel they'll mutany if Earhardt pulls this again. Just me or dark echo of scaring Sasha?
The dice will decide how hot the new crew is. Bryn knows the fandom also needs race & gender
Alex is delegating
Oh Siggif the human isn't worth typing about (tabaco isn't a personality) but Fredrick the dwarf with a short beard and magically large arms has potential. Kiko is a tall good looking human woman in armor, 20ish.
Bryn made the Hamid can't listen to opera joke fandom has been criming since Prague. Also remembered to specify European opera, good man.
The GM givith the GM taketh away. Alex gives us a glorious shot but follows it up with being ominous
Huh James Barnes but if its an out take I don't think its canon canon.
Thank you to everyone having fun with their patreon shout outs.
*I pause to type a lot now. Used to listen without pause and leave enough of the thought to turn it into a sentence later. Between my inability to get a guaranteed 0 interuption hour and my concentration being shot seemed like the best way to avoid missing things. Fortunately it turns out these live blogs count as doing something else for ADHD purposes so I'm not having coming back from what was supposed to be a little side task to find out I missed huge chunks of the episode like I do with other shows. And don't tell me not to have a side task I can do the same thing pondering the implications of something I heard in show. To the tune of "The call is coming from inside the house" the distraction is coming from with in the brain. Fortunately getting enough of my other issues under control to start posting these things again.
**not that it was out of character or that I think they weren't as close as they appeared. Poor Sasha impressioned on Zolf like a duckling for being her first boss she could trust. Between his father and toxic friendships in school Hamid was only "better" because he learned the hard way not to let anyone direct him against his conscience. Grizzop always did move to fast and Azu tried to marry them within 24 hours. Aphrodite did not teach her to keep those she likes at arms length.

can i get uhhhh opinions on Muriel...my big man,,,
Tumblr media
Sorry it's morning but I'm still tired I'm about to fall asleep again. If i do in the middle of this post sorry.
You activated my trap card
Why he look like that - the chains and the 700 fake belts. "Because they're sexy" yeah but like functionality? Hello? (Mostly going "huh??????" Over what NH and the creator said)
They work better in a dynamic - yeah, everyone's ships teehee. Yeah i circled that so i could get bingo. But also the few people i follow who has death gripped Muriels whole (censored) i love you, i see you, and continue.
Spoilers and rambling:
Nothing i like about Muriel is technically canon - this one has a star because yeah half the shit is noncanon, some of it is canon tho. Like my hc [censored and redacted]. I'm joking I'm joking I'm joking!!!!!!!
Did nothing wrong - mostly a joke because im straight up so biased I'm like "no Muriel it's okay that you killed 100,000 people for good or bad reasons, I'm still love you 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸" I'm literally blinded by emotions that I'll forgive this fake bitch for war crimes. (Exaggeration)
I have CPTSD
LMAO that's it. "I have cptsd" and attachment issues and also i like characters like Muriel????????? Attachment problems or something, or it's not that deep, I'm just love that guy. That dude, that blorbo. he is quite literally a giant ikea bear to me and i will fall asleep on him.
I'm sure there are other reasons??? But it seems like I've always been drawn to characters that are "tormented by my own mind and I am dead inside .... Sometimes."
I'm not like... Going to expose my mental problems or my vast list of whatever else problems i have, for safety, privacy, and otherwise. But like i still like to openly about CPTSD/PTSD to be like "you're not alone" and trying push that healing *is* possible. I feel like I'm not making sense sheeesh
Uhh but like in terms of Muriel, and in my current adventures of writing through arcana bs and stuff, still gotta touch on that topic because Muriel for sure has PTSD/CPTSD. I want to explore it, i want to talk about it. I'm gonna have to write it anyway(?)
Also like his upright look - ACTUALLY BOTH ENDING LOOKS SLAPPED LIKE HELL. LIKE DAMN LOOOOVEE IT. Muriel straight up, for me is like "yes i want to be with you to grow and thrive and flourish" AND ALSO "we can be aweful and ruined together and we only have each other and everyone SUCKS ASS!!!!"
Oh self explained: NET HEUBRON SUUUUCKS AND THEY FUUUCKED UP!!!! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! they SUPER FUCKED UP WITH MURIEL AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT SHOULD BREAK COPY RIGHT RULES LMAO!!!!!!!!
did i get all the things i circled? Good FucK im literally falling asleep writing this. I have no idea if i fixed all the typos. My eye lids are heavy, thank you i am dreaming of Muriel
ADDITION: I SCRIBBLED THE BOTTOM PART OUT BECAUSE I WENT >:( no i don't think those things of Muriel gtfo from my face.

D , K , L , S , T , W , Z . good monin .... looks at you respectfully kissin ... hi ..... hello . hey
Answerin' this so latey but still! myah myah
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
Depends on fandom,but from iii, clover/nickel and candle/silver spoon. which i know you do like but i just cant help but be annoyed by em sometimes. particularly the latter cuz yknow. f/o.
non object and unrelated to shared fandoms, definitely Jonmartin. I know they're canon i know wah wah the dinghy I DONT FUCKING CARE. martin is a little bitch to Jon during the eyepocalypse and idk. idk he gets on my nerves. JonMichael forever actually. (And i like martin with peter lukas. toxic gilf win.)
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
Depends on the fandom, object wise i wanna say Balloon (especially in iii), and while i also love Flowers arc i feel she got a bit watered down at the end of bfb. Quite curious to know where Robot Flower's is going though. Non object fandom, I wanna say Riko from made in abyss has some amazing development,and in general the arc around Vueroeruko and Irumyuu was fucking insane. Sobbing immediately and violently.
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves.
Ugh. Candle is not a bitch and im mostly just uncomfortable with how close she is with silver and her chill attitude is Annoying to a certain degree. Cabby is Fine in the very late episodes and her friendship with yinyang is Nice. Non object related, uhh. uhhhh. idk i dont have any MAJOR hatred i think. or if i do it's so bad i Deleted them from my brain lmao.
S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon
Oh there's so many, I'll try to stay away from my super edgy ones You Know,but let's see. object specific, here's a handful,will just do objects here cuz easier:
test tube is a coffee nerd. She loves all the borderline sciencey work to pull a single shot of espresso. and she WILL get annoying about it if not stopped
Baseball and Cheesy both have braces
Knife is a big fan of kawaii shit and loves the color pink. After the dora incident he's less shy about having one or two little keychains or plushies.
Tree likes to smoke and is in his late 30s. I will Not elaborate,i just know I'm Correct.
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
some headcanons ill die defending are mostly darker ones,honestly. but i guess heres some misc. ones from multiple fandoms
- Julian (The Arcana) has BPD and i will never back off from that
- Kenny (south park) sometimes is cis and sometimes isn't,depending how his body regenerated after the latest death
- Yin and Yang (inanimate insanity) have an extremely codependent fucked up relationship
- Rick (Rick & Morty) is bilingual and can speak spanish perfectly. Yes i know this is basically canon but goddamn if the show NEVER brings it up. Im salty about this.
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
Any fucking barista/florist/whatever the fuck AU. you people are boring,jesus. And poorly done Enemies to Lovers (ENEMIES ARE EQUALS) or Bully/Victim ships portrayed as good (toxic dynamics can stay tho)
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go!
Bro I'm tired,, but i wanna talk about fandom in general and how fucking annoying it is that people are always going for wholesome and pure and fluffy and like. yes that's fine and all but i miss when fandom was owned by the freaks. I feel like even the concept of fandom has gone far FAR too mainstream and it's annoying as all hell. It's difficult to not want to just live in a little corner. Also people treat writers and artists like fucking. content machines and it sucks so much. people used to establish friendships over this but now even requests are BARELY polite. Bleh. Also bring the kinkmeme livejournals back

hey sorry not sure if my ask sent there was weirdness with the captcha but im the arcana anon n im sorry for not doing my research i didnt look in2 the links. the important thing is that the devs r scammers. again I apologize and hope it wasnt too troublesome
hey, thanks for reaching back out! I'm sorry I got so heated in my replies. I know you were trying to be helpful and informative and I think that's a nice thing to do.
For what it's worth, I did find more substantial info about their suspicious finances. So your ask did help me!
The big thing to take away here is that you led with irrelevant info. Your original ask goes something like "the devs are problematic and here's why: they like incest. also they scammed people."
And, again, I appreciate you looking out for people. I'm bummed that I ever paid into that game, and equally disappointed to hear about what else they've done/not done with their money. It's good that people know there's some shady shit going on.
(As a quick aside that's not really relevant to fit anywhere else, I don't think people are being fair to the devs about microtransactions. We all hate microtransactions, we all hate the way mobile games are designed to be as addicting as possible so we can throw our money at them, but I also just don't think it's fair of the OP I linked above to give them shit for... doing what the whole market is designed for? The problem of addictive mobile games is much bigger than the devs of The Arcana).
In the links above there's also more insight into the "racism" claims and the fetishization. For the record, none of the devs have thrown around slurs or (to my knowledge) fired team members of color who might have contributed to the game, but I do agree now that I'm reading these that, yes, there's some exoticism/sexualization of the characters of color that isn't (wasn't? I haven't played the game since before Portia's route was added, I have no idea what it's like now). It's not something I originally noticed the first time I played, but looking back I totally get it.
Just don't lead with "they're bad because they ship incest" next time. That's completely irrelevant to the conversation and gives us no info about their actual moral compass. People like weird stuff sometimes, and that's not a reason to vilify them.
I hope none of this sounds mean--I fully admit I'm prickly at best about "problematic ship" callouts--but I also hope you know you were still right about the other stuff (the racism, scamming people)! So again I appreciate you messaging me in the first place and I appreciate you reaching back out to apologize. I hope next time I can approach these things with less bitterness.

Something fascinating I found is that while 3 of the suites have a clear component (swords=air/ cups=water/ pentacles=earth ), the last match (wands) did not have a clear component. Although it ought to be fire, there is just one card in the entire deck that has a photo of fire on it.

Anima Mundi Tarot Deck 78 Card Deck With Guide Book Nature - Etsy
In my viewpoint, this makes the deck a little imbalanced. I will use it for readings involving air and water especially, as those two elements dominate the deck. For matters concerning fire and earth, I will probably rely on a different deck This is going to be a challenging deck to check out! Although I knew this and bought it anyhow It doesn't have the bountiful significance that other decks have- the cards are restricted to an animal, element, and a product or flower or background.
Top Guidelines Of Best Tarot Card Decks According To Real Psychic Readers
Justice was particulary effective existence, and I like this take on Death. The Moon is quickly the most stunning picture in the deck, although it's generally completely lacking importance and simply a truly lovely painting I also significantly appreciate the Roman Character on each card- it helps when I ask the cards for more specific info about time/dates All in all, I highly recommend the deck! Delighted card readings, and Blessed Be! 9 Likes christine4: Did you by any chance order it from somewhere in Europe? Like You Can Try This Source said in the other post, I'm not going to pay 23 for shipping from the United States I understand that feeling extremely well! Haha it's a problem when you go to checkout and understand the shipping would cost a lot more than real product! Yes, I had it delivered to Poland! I in fact saw the deck while searching on Ali, Express- I ended up buying it from a tarot reseller, so I hesitate I do not understand if it is the original deck or a knock-off/recreation.

Headcanons for characters Pt. 4: Sleepy Julian Devorak
Hey everyone! Look at me, finally continuing this series!
(Me, looking at the Muriel, Portia and Lucio Fluff, some characters from MHA, and ship headcanons that are hiding in my drafts: 😶)
Anyway, the requests for headcanons and fanfics are still open! Just as a reminder, I don't only do The Arcana characters, so you can request literately anyone you want!
This part will be headcanons for sleepy Julian Devorak, from the mobile game/visual novel "The Arcana"! (So incredibly cute) Requested by anon!
Enjoyシ︎
Tumblr media
♥︎Julian Devorak♥︎ - Sleepy
- You and Julian were laying on the bed, taking a break after the exhausting day you both had. He was laying besides you, nuzzling his head into your hair and shoulder, since your scent calms him.
- Even tho Julian is usually the smaller spoon when you cuddle, this time he laid behind you with a hand around your waist. This was supposed to be a quick cuddling session before both of you returned to your tasks, but he yawned a few times too many for you to not notice he's tired.
- "Babe.. Babe... Julian! Are you awake, honey?"
- "Hmm, what..? Oh yeah, yeah, I'm *yawn* awake.."
- A few moments later, his cute snores muffled by your hair could be heard echoing thru the room. You smiled to yourself, knowing damn well that cuddling is one of the very few things that calms him down, and heaven knows he needs the rest.
- About half an hour into his nap, you started to drift off yourself, but there was a problem. Of course, just as you found the most comfortable position to sleep, and just as you actually were trying to sleep, you had to pee!
- Julian is a tall man with strong arms. That, therefore, means his grip is unescapable, especially if he loves you and wants to keep you close, so wiggling out of his arms took longer than expected. To not wake him up, you tip-toed your way to the bathroom.
- Once you were finished, you tried to sneak back in under the covers just as quietly as you left, but were surprised to find your boyfriend awake.
- "Oh goodness, I can't believe you would just leave me like this darling!"
- He said, dramatically putting his hand against his forehead. You chuckled a little, and approached him.
- "I didn't leave you, I had to go pee! Sorry if I woke you up.."
- As soon as you stood on the edge of the bed, he pressed his forehead to your stomach, and let out a huge, tired sight.
- "No, you didn't.. Just couldn't sleep without you..", he hummed as you hugged him tighter.
- You laid down, bringing him down with his head on your chest. He immediately got excited, nudging his nose into your chest and completely relaxing as you stroke his back.
- "You know I love you, right? I love you, MC... Did you hear me..? I love you.."
- With a huge smile on your face, you told him: "Yes, Julian, I heard you.. I love you too, you idiot, rest now!" He really does turn into a sappy ball of mush when he's sleepy.
--
That would be all for this one! Thanks for reading, and thank you anon for requesting such a cute idea! The next one coming is the main 6 Modern! AU, which was, also, requested.
Follow me for more headcanons and fanfics, if you have a request or some random scrabbles and rankings!
Request anything/anyone you want, I'm accepting all ideas!

Fam have you seen the “response” from fictif...
I love the fact we seem to be being blamed for their failures, thanks Nix 🥰 🤢
I actually think their response is fair. While, yes, I think they should put more effort into creating female LIs and stories for them and it sucks as all hell that Tess' route got cut short, there's a reason most dating sims are men only clubs, and most companies can't afford to run games no one's playing.
Fandoms on a whole don't give female characters the same attention as male characters. No matter how they're written or their prominence, most fandoms are more willing to focus on male characters: Arcana - Julian and Asra are most popular. Portia is the least. Last Legacy - Sage and Felix are most popular. Anisa is the least. RWBY - main characters are all women. I get the most asks about Qrow, Adam, or Tyrian. Encanto - Bruno and Camilo are most popular despite appearing comparatively infrequently.
The only times I've seen this averted is in shows with canon or very popular lesbian ships such as Carmen Sandiego, She Ra, or Arcane.
To be blunt, I hate this. It sucks. But it's a fact. The only dating sim I can think of where male characters aren't the creator and fandom's darling is Lovestruck and that took years to happen.
I'm not here to defend a company that will make its own decisions based on profit, but I'm not here to defend a fandom that I see repeatedly never giving female characters a chance. We live in a capitalistic hellscape that inherently warps culture and I'm too tired to blame Nix Hydra about it more than any other game company just because the devs are on twitter. All media does this. I'm tired. It sucks. This is how we live.
It's the same with any representation: If you want it, you have to give those who create it attention or make it yourself. It's why I pay for indie games or self-published books to see any aroace characters or female characters with a different nose.

My Analysis of the Best Paired Endings in 3H (Part 14: Marianne/Lorenz)
Tumblr media
Marianne: Back then, I felt that my life served no purpose and that I was nothing more than a burden. In truth, I was begging the goddess to take me to her. That was my daily prayer.
The Crest of the Beast is associated with The Devil arcana. It can signify depression and also be a sign of feeling trapped or restricted, as though outside forces beyond your control are restricting you, leaving you feeling powerless and victimized.
Unless recruited, Marianne was the only student to not appear outside of her home route post-timeskip. Some have speculated that she took her own life, which I suspect is true. It was likely the promise of a class reunion that kept her going those five years. And if Byleth is not part of the class, the house leader will not make the promise. There were only a few people during the academy phase that Marianne connected with strongly enough that they would motivate her to live long enough to see them again at the Millennium Festival.
Tumblr media
Marianne: What do you believe determines a person's value? Sylvain: I like to think it's a person's smile. Marianne: Huh? Their smile? Sylvain: A smile, it tells you who someone is. Are they fake or sincere? It also makes you feel stronger when you smile.
While Hilda and Marianne became close friends, that didn't happen until the war arc. During the academy arc, there were only three characters who made a strong connection to Marianne, enough to make her sincerely smile. The first was Byleth. At the Goddess Tower, we can assume she was making a wish to die. But you gain Support points with her if you tell her that your wish is only to see her smile.
Tumblr media
Dimitri: Ah, a smile and a laugh. Coming from you, that's a rarity. This must be my lucky day. Marianne: I just find the idea amusing. It's strange to think that someone like you could have anything in common with me. Dimitri: Is it so terrible a thought? Marianne: No, no. It's not that. It actually makes me happy. As though there's finally someone who understands how I truly feel…
Second was Dimitri. Byleth's arc was about awakening her humanity after living as the Ashen Demon, and helping Dimitri become human again, too. While Byleth could understand his capacity for depravity more than anyone, I think Marianne was probably able to understand his survivor's guilt best. If you're playing as Male Byleth, then I think Marianne is by far the best wife for him. Other than Female Byleth, he seemed to have the strongest connection with her because they both felt like cursed beasts.
Marianne: Please, Dimitri. Promise you'll live through this war and long after. I don't know what I'd do with myself if we lost you… Dimitri: As long as you are carrying on, I have yet another reason to carry on myself. I promise to the goddess of Fódlan that I will never give you cause to despair.
Dimitri longed for female companionship. He can marry his childhood friend Ingrid, his BL classmates, and even his old mentor Catherine. But Marianne was the only other non-Byleth wife to give him a reason to live and vice versa.
Tumblr media
Lorenz: But perhaps it is for the best that your beauty not be revealed to all the world. Yes, it is certainly better that only I, Lorenz Hellman Gloucester, can appreciate your true magnificence! And on that note, I bid you farewell! Marianne: What a strange person… But being called beautiful just the way I am? That was nice to hear.
The final one was Lorenz. I believe the writers probably based this ship on Beauty and the Beast directly. Marianne could even talk to animals like a Disney princess.
If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair, and lost all hope, for who could ever learn to love a beast?
The "Survivor of the Curse" felt totally worthless because of her bloodline. She spent her whole life avoiding other others due to her shame of her Crest. She needed hope that she could love and be loved in return in order to survive.
Tumblr media
Catherine: That's not to say lineage counts for nothing. It just doesn't count as much as how you live your life, and what you live for. Or, let's say I was descended from some noble house. Would that change how you treat me? Lorenz: Yes, it would. To treat you differently from the commonfolk would only be appropriate.
The "Noble of the Red Rose" was pretty much like the Disney prince. Arrogant and judging people on their status and outer appearance. He would invite girls to dinner just to evaluate them. His character arc was about learning that lineage is not the defining factor in someone's worth and that true beauty is found within.
Tumblr media
Lorenz: I have always sought to embody the ideal of nobility. That, at least, is a goal I continue to stand by. But now I know that bloodline alone is not sufficient to gauge a person's worth.
The Crest of Gloucester is associated with The Hermit arcana. The Hermit card in Tarot is a card of introspection, soul searching, analysis, and self-reflection. It denotes that this is not a time of socializing or action but of peace and solitude. And a hermit like Marianne was his preferred dining companion.
Marianne: I've been keeping this from you for a while. It's… It's about my Crest. It's just terrible. I— Lorenz: Please, that's quite enough! You're trembling. If uttering this secret hurts you, then I have no desire to hear it. Your smile is a greater gift to me than any truth. Whatever you have hitherto concealed, I am certain it is essential to you. And I do wish to know it. But not until the day arrives when you can tell me with a smile on your face. I am not the sort of man to prize my own knowledge over others' happiness, you know. Besides. The mystery is part of your charm. Marianne: Hehehe! You're funny, Lorenz… Lorenz: There! That's what I mean! Your beauty has always captivated, but that smile truly warms my heart!
It was cute how Lorenz grew to value Marianne's inner beauty the most and accepted her the way she was. He didn't even want to know about her Crest until she could tell him with a smile. It showed how much he'd grown as a person.
Tumblr media
Marianne: But now I fear the idea of dying and being left alone. I have friends who accept me for who I am now, in spite of my Crest. And I have you watching over me. I've finally learned to accept the kindness and warmth of others. It's because of you, Professor. Because of you, I've decided to live.
In Houses, Marianne tells Byleth that they are the reason she decided to live because they taught her how to accept the kindness of others.
Marianne: For so much of my life, I didn't care if I lived or died, and yet… And yet when I saw you there beside me, I realized I did care. I wanted to live. Lorenz: And that is good enough. Such instincts are only natural. You needn't try to justify it to yourself, or anyone else.
In Hopes, Lorenz actually fulfills Byleth's role of being the one who helps Marianne feel like she wants to live. So, this ship definitely felt tailor-made for both of their character arcs and the writers liked it.
Tumblr media
Marianne: This is the first time I've smiled in so long…and I have your kindness to thank for that. Lorenz: As I've said, you are perfect just as you are. But I suppose I can take a little credit! Yes, your radiant smile shall illuminate all the world! With me by your side, you will not be able to help it! Marianne: Hehehe! I'm looking forward to that.
Marianne was sent to the academy to marry a powerful nobleman, but unlike many of the other girls, that is something that can bring her happiness. She didn't have any big dreams that she'd have to sacrifice to marry a noble and she genuinely liked Lorenz.
Lorenz & Marianne After becoming the new head of House Gloucester, Lorenz initially focused on the recovery of his own territory before energetically engaging in the governance of all of Fódlan. Having earned recognition as a skilled politician, he suddenly announced his own marriage. His partner was Marianne, the adopted daughter of Count Edmund. Having learned about estate management from her shrewd foster father, she also became involved in the domestic affairs of Fódlan with Lorenz after their marriage. Particularly, she achieved significant success in promoting dairy farming, leading them to be praised as the "parents of cattle and horses." It is said that Lorenz was not pleased with being referred to by that nickname.
Lorenz's dream was for his name to go down in history, and he does achieve a great deal acting in the governance of all Fódlan. In this ending, he has a much different nickname than he probably imagined for himself, but I'm sure it made Marianne smile because her life work benefited the animals that she loved so much.

When the Nights Comes Review
Tumblr media
[ID: Banner image showing the six main characters and romance options for the visual novel "When the night comes" lined up.] Alongside "The Arcana" (read that review here) Lunaris Game's catalogue of visual novels was recommended to me.
Pros:
✔ You can choose your own pronouns. She/Her, He/Him, They/Them. ✔ LGBT romances and Poly Relationships if you want. ✔ Lovely Story and world. ✔ Lovely artwork. ✔ Lovely soundtrack. ✔ Bonus side stories post main story. ✔ There is an option for a "bad ending". ✔ When you buy the story, you get the entire story + Additional content. ✔ Warnings (in-game) for potential triggers and how to avoid them! ✔ If you don't want to read sex scenes you can skip them.
Cons:
❌ The artwork can be inconsistent in terms of style. ❌ One of the ploy ships does not work for me personally. ❌ Can feel a little short. ❌ For the most part, there are no "choices" beyond romance or not to romance. ❌ The world can feel small. But it works for the story. ❌ Partially voice acted. Personally, I'm not a fan of only certain lines being voice acted, but damn if this cast doesn't have lovely voices. So I sort of let it slide. If you are not a fan, you can just turn the voice volume down, essentially muting it.
So I enjoyed this one. Because I can sit down and play through a character route from beginning to end at my own pace! There are however a view things I want to nit-pick, because I can.
First piper wonderful character, complete badass and I love her voice actresses giggle snort. Perfect. Her design, however....I think the vitiligo should have a deeper pinker contrast. Another nit-pick that I have is the Alkar/Omen/Hunter(You) poly ship. To me this poly ship is lesser than the Ezra/Finn/Hunter(You) ship. Because (to me) it feels like you (the hunter) are getting in between Alkar/Omen at times, whereas Ezra/Finn poly ship feels more like you are actually included and wanted in this relationship.
Plus I dislike the designs of Alkar and Omen. Demons should not have dainty bottom row fangs, if you want bottom row fangs commit and make them orc like. Also while on the subject of Omen, his noodle tail! I hate noodle tails. Noodle tails are stupid. Alkar the four-eared half were-wolf (don't ask me how that works because???? that'll just set me off ranting) has a nice tail. His is a fluffy tail. A good nice fluffy tail! Ezra is amazing and all this shit would collapse without him. Finn is a vampire with a mechanical arm, voiced by Gideon Emery and is just so perfect. Them together amazing, them together with the hunter amazing. All-around amazing. Ezra's relationship is interested in that he can be the sub or dom, you are often given the choice to choose whether you wish to submit or take control or neither. This also applies to the Ezra/Finn/Hunter ship somewhat as well. Piper I have commented on but it bares repeating, I love her. I would kill for this woman, she could crush my ribs and I would be grateful to her for it! She is wonderful, just ugh! I love her so much. Then there is August. I woud die for them. I love them. The moment they appeared in their fine clothes and that fur coat I knew this was the person for me. This was my character who I would cherish. They are perfect, from their voice actor to their very character (they need more sleep dam it) to the fact they unashamedly read smut! I won't get into spoilers because you should (if you can) play this and find out for yourself, but oh I love all of these characters.
Yes, I recommend this visual novel. You can find more information here. You can download a free demo and see what you think.

The Mandalorian Tarot: Major Arcana
If you’re following me, you know this is a Mandalorian obsessive account. I love the man, I love the show, I write a Mando-fando that is all about pining and touch. I tend to go all in when I have an interest.
Another one of my interests? Tarot. A friend challenged me to Mandalorify the major arcana. And because Jon and Dave know their stuff and are good with archetypes (which is all tarot really is), it was an easy fit.
YOU GOT MANDO IN MY TAROT. YOU GOT TAROT IN MY MANDO. TWO GREAT TASTES THAT TASTE GREAT TOGETHER.
But. I can’t draw, so I’ve dreamed them in words and included the Rider-Waite-Smith deck illustrations that I would riff on if I could.
READY? LET’S PLAY.
(All tarot illustrations by Pamela Colman Smith. All Mandalorian images property of Star Wars/Disney.)
UPDATE! @heathenashtattoos has taken up where I cannot and is making these cards a reality! I will post them individually and come back to link them to this post as we go.
Tumblr media
0 THE FOOL = THE MANDALORIAN / IT IS MADE! --->
The story of the tarot is the Fool’s journey, the arc of becoming. So it makes sense to me that Din would be the fool. Fits even better, since he has tremendous Fool energy in his himbo tendencies, just rushing forward into situations without a lot of planning--he’ll deal with it when he’s in it--ready to rely on others to show him the way or guide/help him to the next step.
If I could draw: Din on the cliff, with his jetpack on, meaning he has no fear of falling. Instead of the bindle-stick the Fool carries, he’d have his pulse rifle slung over his shoulder. Instead of the dog nipping at his heels, Grogu. And, of course, the landscape would be Tatooine/Navaro-esque.
~~~
Tumblr media
1 THE MAGICIAN = LUKE SKYWALKER , IT IS MADE! --->
The Magician is someone who is still learning to bend the laws of magic/the Universe, but very adept with their tools. Since Luke is only a few years into his Jedi training at this time, he makes a pretty good Magician.
If I could draw: Luke in his blacks, holding up his lightsaber. The Jedi symbol would replace the infinity sign.
***
2 THE HIGH PRIESTESS = AHSOKA TANO / IT IS MADE! -->
High Priestess is further along the path of her magic than Magician, and her knowledge is more intuitive, her skills more effortless. Where the Magician is still learning the balance of light and dark, the High Priestess knows the value and pitfalls of both. It was always going to be Ahsoka.
If I could draw: Ahsoka sitting cross-legged in meditation mode, but with eyes open and a knowing smile. Instead of two pillars, she holds her lightsabers up and parallel to each other.
***
3 THE EMPRESS = PELI MOTTO / IT IS MADE! -->
The Empress is the mother figure, the energy in the universe that provides all that is needed and embodies the energy of creation. I can see the argument for Omera being the Empress--mostly because she is a mom and she’s soft and a lot of people see the Empress as a soft female figure, I get it. (And if I were to do a minor arcana, girl would show up as one of the Queens for sure.) But in the end, I gave it to Peli because she’s a recurring character, more relevant in his story, and if Din is the Fool, Peli is more an Empress to him. She’s able to be the provider of his particular needs; services to his ship to get him up flying, contact and location information, and she’s always willing to care for Grogu whenever she gets the chance.
If I could draw: Peli sitting in the dock, against the R4 unit, holding aloft a spanner and surrounded by her pit droids.
***
4 THE EMPEROR = BOBA FETT / IT IS MADE! -->
The Emperor is all about authority. And all I gotta say about Boba is BIG DICK ENERGY.
If I could draw: Just put him on the Jabba throne and let him lounge like a badass.
~~~
Tumblr media
5 THE HIEROPHANT = THE ARMORER / IT IS MADE! -->
The Hierophant is the keeper of traditions and a spiritual guide. As the leader of the covert and keeper of the Way, The Armorer fits.
If I could draw: The Armorer, framed by her forge, holding aloft her tools, with Mandalorian acolytes. Instead of the crossed keys at the bottom, let’s just have a mythosaur skull.
***
6 THE LOVERS = FROG LADY AND FROG HUSBAND
This should be obvious and I will fight anyone who says it isn’t the right thing to do. I will die for this.
If I could draw: I would actually depart from the Smith depiction and just draw them embracing or holding each other by the arms and staring into each others’ eyes. Some kind of glowing background? Maybe the egg tank?
***
7 THE CHARIOT = THE MUDHORN
Oh. You thought I was going to say the Razor Crest, didn’t you. Don’t worry, I have plans for our beloved craft, but it ain’t here. The Chariot can be a ride, yes, but it’s about victory. Sometimes it’s about the victory over your inner “beastly” natures. To travel to the next phase in the journey, the Fool must take on the beasts that drive the Chariot and claim dominance over them, and when he does, they will carry him to the next level. Since it’s the victory of the beastly mudhorn that brings Din to his bond with Grogu and becomes his signet, Mudhorn for the win.
If I could draw: Again, I’d probably play on Smith’s imagery, put the charging mudhorn in the middle, and replace the rams with Din on his knees brandishing the vibroblade and Grogu in his pram with his Force hand up.
***
8 STRENGTH = CARA DUNE
Don’t come at me about including Cara. I am glad Gina got shown the door and I lose no love on that bigot. But. Cara is not Gina and to cut her out is to cut out Jon and Dave’s creation and I won’t do it.  I actually love her a lot--she’s got her flaws, but she’s sassy and strong and solid, and I would happily accept a piggyback ride from her any day. She’s also a major player in Din’s story and deserves a spot in it. Strength comes after the Chariot--once you’ve conquered the beast within, you have confident dominion over it and it becomes a companion or a tool for your use. Cara is one with her toughness, she’s used it to do some good and bad shit in her past, and she continues to wield it effortlessly and fearlessly. She is absolutely this card.
If I could draw: I would put her maybe sitting on top of the downed ATST. I’d replace the infinity symbol over her head with the one on her cheek (Rebel Alliance).
~~~
Tumblr media
9 THE HERMIT = KUIIL
The Hermit is a loner, yes, but in his solitude he looks within, learns from all he’s been through, and becomes wise. He holds aloft a light of wisdom and truth. This was always going to be Kuiil.
If I could drawn: Just our buddy, looking out over the Arvala-7 landscape, holding aloft an in-universe working lamp. No need to get fancy. He would want it to stay simple.
***
10  THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE = IMPERIAL SYMBOL AND STORM TROOPERS
The Wheel is fate. You win some, you lose some. Sometimes you’re on top, and sometimes the Wheel crushes you beneath it. You are helpless to its roll and where you’ll land. Storm Troopers are such a sad bunch. They are keepers of Imperial Law on the ground. On a good day, they capture a Rebel or hold off an attack. On a bad day, their Moff just blasts them to make an example.
If I could draw: The wheel would just be the Imperial symbol and there’d be Troopers on and under it. Maybe the one on top is just standing there, looking authoritative. The one underneath has been blasted. Some Wheels have two more figures--one on each side--and I’d add those too. The one on the down-going side would be falling, arms flailing, blaster shooting (if only sound were available, there’d be a Whilhelm scream), and the one on the up-going side would just be dangling by one arm, along for the ride.
***
11 JUSTICE = COBB VANTH
Well, it just feels right to make the Marshal into Justice. But it’s not just a literal translation of making sure the right thing gets done and the bad guys are punished. Justice is about wiping away emotion and making decisions with bare truth, looking at every side of the situation and understanding what is really there. And I think Cobb fits this well. He doesn’t want to give up his armor because of what it means for the protection of his people. But he’s willing to consider it, if there’s another way he can protect them. Emotionally, he doesn’t want to deal with the Tusken Raiders, but he does it because he can see it’s the best course of action. He flies into battle with the Krayt Dragon. He gives up his armor without a fight. He makes a fair trade and sees the balance in it because he walks away from the emotion and chooses the best course of action. Cobb Vanth for Justice, errybody.
If I could draw: Cobb in the Fett armor, but with the helmet at his feet. In one hand, a bottle of spotchka. In the other, the Tusken mushroom drinky thing; he’s holding them with equal balance.
***
12 THE HANGED MAN = MIGS MAYFELD
The Hanged Man is not just about a dude who’s hanging upside down. (If that was the case, I would have just gone with Gor Koresh and called it a day.) Hanged Man is about changing your perspective to see things in a new way so you can grow. Many times, this growth also requires sacrifice. Over the two episodes we see Mayfeld, we know he goes from Imperial sharp shooter, to traumatized deserter, to merc, prisoner, and exonerated friend. He’s seen some shit, given up a lot, and he’s willing to see how he can be a help to others and find redemption for himself.
If I could draw: Hear me out. Take the image of Mayfeld hanging upside down from the Crest hatch into the prison ship. Mirror that above with an image of him in his Imperial Ground Transport gear. Flip it all upside down so bad Mayfeld up top, good Mayfeld on bottom, images mirrored but inverted, hence “looking at things a new way and getting everything a little topsy-turvey.”
~~~
Tumblr media
13 DEATH = MOFF GIDEON
Death is about transformation, so it’s not always the most sinister card. But Death does not discriminate. It comes for us all, constantly stalking, and it will strike you down to serve its needs. You need to face Death to get to your redemption. But really, Gideon is our big baddie here, so why the hell not.
If I could draw: I would forgo the Smith illustration and go for the Marseilles tradition on this one. Gideon and the Darksaber replaces Death and the scythe.
***
14 TEMPERANCE = IG-11
Temperance is the transformation that comes after Death. Once Death has chopped your physical being into pieces with his scythe, Temperance is there to take all your pieces and put them back together into something new and better. It’s also a card that asks you to re-evaluate your priorities and see if you can find better motivations than you previously had. IG’s death and reprogramming speak loudly to me on this.
If I could draw: IG pouring the tea.
***
15 THE DEVIL = THE CLIENT
Here’s another baddie card that’s all about your worst faults, about excess and giving into the stuff that will eventually kill your soul. The Client holds on hard to the Empire, doing whatever he’s ordered to do to be one of the top dogs. And in the end, it doesn’t matter. Gideon takes him down like he’s nothing.
If I could draw: The client, wearing his Empire bling, with chains around Doctor Pershing and a rough-looking Storm Trooper.
***
16 THE TOWER = THE RAZOR CREST
I don’t know about you, but Chapter 14 killed me. And not because the Dark Troopers flew away with Grogu. We all knew Din would never stop at getting him back. But when the Crest was destroyed, it was like someone punched me in the soft parts, and I made a lot of severely anguished noises. The Tower is the most tragic card in the tarot. It’s when forces beyond your control make a very big (and usually negative) impact in your life and everything changes. You are left to pick up the pieces and survive any way you can with the skills and resources you’ve been blessed with.
If I could draw: Just that moment of the ray hitting our beautiful Crest, just as it begins to break apart, maybe with Din, Boba, and Fennec watching in horror in the foreground.
~~~
Tumblr media
17 THE STAR = GROGU
The Star is hope. It comes after the biggest tragedy in the deck to tell you that not all is lost. There is always something there to live for. C’mon, kids. In this series, there was only one choice.
If I could draw: Just Grogu. Maybe drinking his soup. Or maybe he’s levitating his metal ball overhead, reaching up to it with a smile on his face. *coos*
***
18 THE MOON = BO KATAN KRYZE
We all like Bo Katan, sure. But remember my Clone Wars/Rebels fiends, she was Death Watch, and they were terrorists. She sided with Maul to take over Mandalore. Sure, she’s come a long way and her path is a bit more honorable now, but she’s got an agenda, which makes her hard to trust. Since the Moon is about more feminine energies and has themes of illusion and deception--things look great in the moonlight, but maybe not as they really are--Bo Katan’s our girl.
If I could draw: Head and shoulders profile, double-imaged so you see her face, but her Nite Owl helmet superimposed in profile over it. Nite Owl signet on the bottom. Possibly flanked by her two Nite Owl cronies.
***
19 THE SUN = GREEF KARGA
Everything's sunny when Greef’s around! He’s the feel-good gramps that’s going to make any situation A-Ok! If you’ve got a problem, Greef can sort it out...or he knows someone who can! The sun is always gonna shine on you and take you back.
If I could draw: Just Greef smiling and being cheesy with the halo of the sun around him.
***
20 JUDGEMENT = FENNEC SHAND
This card traditionally shows the resurrected rising from the grave, ready to be judged. Fennec’s got a lot to answer for in her life, but she is being given a second chance, and my number one girl crush is going to do new and wonderful badass things with it.
If I could draw: I’d either just show her opening her gut pocket to show her new works, all full of aura, with her looking down at it reverently. OR I might do a scene of her being rescued by Boba.
Tumblr media
21 THE WORLD = THE HELMET
Din’s helmet is the world he lives in. But it’s also a symbol of The Way. The World represents completion, a wholeness of self and being, the end of the journey. And since Din is our Fool, his journey is an exploration of his morals and honor, what it means to walk the way of the Mandalore, and what the meaning of the helmet is for him. He may choose ultimately to keep it on and go all-in on Mandalorian-4-lyfe (Child of the Watch style), or he may understand that the helmet is just a symbol and the honor was in him all along; he can wear it or not wear it and it’s all the same.
If I could draw: The World usually depicts a circle or sphere of some kind, the symbol of perfect completion. The helmet is close enough, so it takes up the center. Traditionally, there are four symbols in the corners that give more meaning to The World, and I would replace them with The Razor Crest, Grogu, the Mudhorn Signet, and the pulse rifle or blaster. These represent his home, his foundling, his clan, and his religion, all of which make up more of the whole; what it means to him to be Mandalorian.
Fic Writer Interview
I was tagged by @tessiete
Tagging: @mandaloriandy @outpastthemoat @phoenixyfriend
Remember to make a new post!
How many works do you have on AO3?
48, thirteen of which have been made anonymous.
What's your total AO3 word count?
260,698
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
On Ao3? 12, including Star Wars (obvs), FMAB, Twilight, The Silmarillion, LOTR, Much Ado About Nothing, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Narnia, The Arcana, VLD (yes, I know), Buzzfeed Unsolved.
In my drafts folder? WAY more. (one day I'll finish you post-OoT Link character study... one day..)
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Paternal Relations, Leap of Faith, (Arguable) Flirting, To Catch a Serial Killer, and Being an Investigation of Sorts into the Supernatural and the Supernaturally Stupid
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I do! Not all of them, because that's something I don't have the energy for. (Fic writers who do respond to all comments—I have the greatest admiration for you, and also how the hell do you do it.) I always respond if it's particularly thoughtful or insightful, and I'll usually respond if it's a joke. I don't bother for an emoji or an 'I liked it.'
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Ehm... I don't really do angst. I do have something in my WIP folder that'll end pretty angstily if I ever get around to it. I think my anonymous Narnia or VLD fics? Maybe the anonymous Silmarillion one?
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you've written?
Not as real fic. As not!fics on tumblr? Absolutely. I'm going to go with the fmab/TPM crossover, because that's the silliest one that comes to mind immediately.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I've only ever received "hate" once, and it was the funniest comment I've ever read (not intentionally, unfortunately for them), so I have it screenshotted for when I need a good laugh.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Yes, primarily pwp. I think that emotionally-driven smut that functions as a device for a character study is some of the best, most compelling smut out there. Unfortunately, my smut writing interests lie in a different direction—a hornier one.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of, but now I feel like I should go check.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Smoking_breath did a russian translation of Paternal Relations!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope. I'm a bit of a control freak, and very particular about style to boot, so there's really only ben one time I've considered it and it was with someone who I was sharing a braincell with.
What's your all time favorite ship?
Oof. I don't really do OTPs, so I don't have an answer for this.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I hesitate to say never, because there's always a chance I'll come back to it, but I have a Princess Bride AU in my WIPs folder that's nearly done that I probably won't touch. (It needs major rewrites, but I do like the premise, which is that Buttercup decides to vent all her grief via grabbing a sword and whacking at things, so who knows.)
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and humor! I think I've got a really good hold on how to pace writing so that jokes land really well, and I think I'm also pretty good at figuring out where to put dialogue tags and such so a conversation proceeds with the pauses where I want them.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I really struggle with anything character driven. (For context, the last character-driven thing I tried stopped at 20k, but that 20k took me several hundred hours of writing time.) I don't know why that is, but I do know that writing something character-driven is like wrestling with a sugar-crazed five year old covered in oil, and whatever comes out inevitably needs major rewrites. I get a little better every time I try, though! Maybe in thirty years I'll actually be able to do it without giving myself a headache every time I open the doc.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Unless I know the language, I won't do it, and even then I think it can be really dicey. A lot of the time, a foreign language will take me out of the reading experience—not just because it can be hard to understand, but because the author has no idea how people actually use a second language. A really good example of that (and the one I see the most) is pet names.
Unless it makes sense within the context of the characters (e.x. two characters that share a heritage using a pet name from that heritage's language as a means of connecting to each other), I find pet names really take me out of it. I have never in my life been speaking English with someone and then called them a pet name in Hebrew (which, even though I'm not fluent, is the language that I've been called pet names in by my family and is the language I'd use for a pet name). When someone switches languages mid-sentence just to call someone a pet name in a language they don't know, it can read as a little... odd.
Foreign language use gets even dicier when I do speak the language and I can tell that the author doesn't. I've put down fics because they had no clue what they were doing with the Hebrew or the French. If your character is supposed to be fluent and they're making mistakes with gender, then I'm not going to be able to pay attention to the actual story and will instead be trying to format a comment in my head to tell you in the nicest way possible that your grammar is wrong.
So: I don't use it in my fics. I think it can be used to great effect when done right (see: insight into a character's relationship with their past, heritage, etc. (also for comedy, because there's nothing quite like "can you hand me the—the—fuck. The סוכר?" "the sugar?" "oh my god it's the same fucking word in english.")), but on the whole, I'm iffy about it.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Technically Avalon: Web of Magic, which I did in fourth grade with a friend. We didn't know what fanfiction was though, so I'm not sure if it counts.
What's your favorite fic you've written?
I'm quite fond of Smoke Raised with the Fume of Sighs right now, but more as something I'm enjoying writing than something I'd like reading. It's my first real foray into posting as I go, and it's the first time I've done chapetered fic in a while. It's also great fun, character-wise.
Other than that, I still very much enjoy Paternal Relations. It's got some fun lines.
Dissecting the Newspapers
What are those newspaper articles?
Well, I’m here to give MY interpretation of what is going on. Simply put, I think Anastasia is planning a coup to overthrow Vesuvia.
1) We have Anastasia fixing the canals
First off, Anastasia has no reason to fix the canals, she does not live in Vesuvia and her niece and nephew aren’t exactly permanent residence either. So why? These canal’s have been a long standing problem in Vesuvia’s history, no one knows who built them or why and half of them are unfinished so it’s safe to say they’ve probably been around since the city was founded. And then to have this mysterious benefactor who is putting in some very expensive resources to solve this issue? It’s to gain public approval for her and leave a positive impression on the masses (she did not actually speak publicly at the trial).
Her fixing the canals lead to her digging underground as well which seems to have resulted in the flooded district collapsing.
And speaking of public approval...
2) Nadia had to delay the masquerade
This threat of flooding is so serious Nadia delayed the masquerade. This should be a huge red flag as in all the other routes Nadia cannot cancel the masquerade. It’s obvious Nadia has a lot riding on the masquerade politically speaking. The people of Vesuvia love a good ole fashion masquerade and it’s pretty much the only reason anyone liked Lucio and did not start a revolution.
So we have a public figure who has been absent from the public eye for years who tries to offer two different events to improve her public standing. The hanging, which does not happen, and now the masquerade which is delayed. Even in the parts of the city where Lucio was always disliked and may have had their hopes riding on Nadia it just shows to them they are failing. Not to mention that now a foreigner is now fixing one of Vesuvia’s longest standing problems which obviously looks like it was always an easy fix but the Vesuvian royal family has been to incompetent to fix it. As well as now we have the flooded district being completely destroyed which is only going to hurt Nadia’s image more with the people.
In one fell swoop Tasya just ruined Nadia’s public image. Which if you want to plan a coup, it would be incredibly beneficial to have the current ruling figure fail.
3) Tasya has already won over the court
In the last book we got to see Tasya at work. Giving Valerius an incredibly expensive vineyard and Vastomil some rare worms isn’t exactly cheap. And while yes at face value this was just to convince them to rule Julian innocent I doubt it was just to rule Julian innocent on an even vote. They are indebted to her and have a great respect for her now as well.
And although she only has 2/5 members of the court it won’t be hard to win over the others.
4) a renowned expert in poison has been found mysteriously dead
Acontius Dogwood has been found dead, why would they include this seemingly irrelevant individual’s death for a teaser image? Well I’ll give you the biggest hint and it’s in the pudding.
Tumblr media
If you don’t remember Nightshade allow me to remind you of this lovely quote from Julian
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This poison is incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands but it’s only safe to be touched because it needs to be distilled. The distilling process for a poison can be pretty complicated and would need an expert to do so successfully. And an expert was just mysteriously killed (probably by his own creation). If he’s used to crafting this poison specifically for overthrowing kings he’s probably smart enough not to live in a city where its being used.
Until what I believe is Anastasia asking for a poison to be crafted for her. I think she killed him to keep him quiet and no one to be the wiser. And where do I think this poison is? Well let’s take a look at the flower itself.
Tumblr media
A pale blue with darker veins inside of it.... Now lets take a look at that necklace that Anastasia gifted Portia real quick.
Tumblr media
A pale blue with darker veins inside of it...
I think this necklace is a Chekhov’s Gun, its an incredibly odd thing to be drawing attention to as much as it has been, with even Valerius making a comment on it. More specifically I think it’s a reference to the Game of Throne’s necklace that Sansa wears at the purple wedding. It’s a pale blue necklace that has one of it’s dangling gems removed during the events as the gems hold a poison to overthrow a king... and subsequently frames her for murder.
Another point is how in the paid scene with Portia at the pillow fight it’s noted that had taken the necklace off. Now you could make an argument that this is simply because Portia didn’t want any damage to fall to the necklace but I think this was a way to make sure we the readers don’t accidentally break this gem containing an incredibly dangerous poison.
5) What is going on with the crabmen?
Ok, they aren’t actually half crab hybrids.
Tumblr media
But what people are seeing at men in carapaces running around under ground. So I believe that they aren’t crabs, but rather men in armor. We know Anastasia is in charge of repairing the canals which has lead to her having to go underground. I think the fixing the canals is also a cover to get her to sneak armed troops underground which people are seeing. And they seem to be quite territorial and aggressive as it’s scaring the citizens... almost like they don’t want to be seen.
6) The storms
Ok, this wasn’t part of my original theory because I thought the storms were the Devil getting mad at delaying the masquerade but I saw @thesanguinerose ‘s post talking about how Julian and Portia’s parents were killed in a storm that mysteriously on the Devorak children and Tasya survived.
And now that there are these violent storms brewing in Vesuvia... in the only route where Tasya is present raises some major concerns. Tasya explained to Portia that she had offered to buy their parent’s merchant ship to add to her fleet but they denied her. And then said parents happened to die out at see on a violent storm with Tasya present. It is definitely suspicious and I think these storms are connected to Tasya and are following her around. Perhaps in the same way that the plague followed Lucio around for having an uncompleted deal.
She does seem quite well traveled and despite being a baroness isn’t at her country ruling like she probably should. Probably to avoid destroying her city but there is no reason she can’t use this to an advantage. But I am making a lot of leaps with this one that I’m not even 100% about.
7) Foreshadowing in Portia’s Route
In Portia’s route there is a certain... theme to it. Portia is pretty bent on solving the mysteries of everything going on around her. Portia in general has a real penchant for snooping and keeping secrets. So we already know what one of the bigger mysteries of the overall story of The Arcana is “Why did Julian kill Lucio" but the problem is... Portia already solved it. She solved it before anyone else did back in book X (Yes Muriel’s route answers the question of if Julian did it at the start but not why) and yet we still have a massive story.
There seems to be a theme in the secondary routes that they take a different approach to the world and story than the main three. Portia has been following the story pretty much beat by beat so far but there is something incredibly special about Portia. She has no connection to the Devil at all.
If you follow (I believe it’s @apprenticeofcups ‘s meta) the idea that Lucio is only as big as a threat in the route based on that character of that route you have an odd situation where... Portia doesn’t know Lucio at all. Portia has never even made a deal with a major arcana like all the other members of the route. Currently, Portia’s biggest obstacle and threat to her personal morals IS Anastasia. It’s not crazy to think that she’d become Portia’s biggest villain and a major villain in general.
Here is also some fun screencaps to show some foreshadowing about Portia’s route maybe holding something a bit bigger. She used to pretend she was a lost princess and says these words exactly:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And well, she might not be betrayed for her own personal throne... the throne she serves is about to be betrayed...
Writer Tag Game
Tagged by @pinkfadespirit! Thank you! tagging: @hoochieblues, @motherofqups, @the-iron-orchid, @classlesstulip, @hollyand-writes, and anyone who sees this and wants to, consider yourself tagged.
How many works do you have on AO3?
Technically, I have 25, but 11 of those were reworked into The Opposite of Falling, so I humbly submit 14 as the more accurate number.
What’s your total AO3 word count?
673480
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Whatever I’ve Done - 122 (The Arcana, Asra/Apprentice/Julian)
Laughing with a Mouth of Blood - 111 (The Arcana, Asra/Apprentice/Julian)
This Twisted Tortured Mess - 108 (The Arcana, Asra/Apprentice/Julian)
A Sip of Something Poison - 91 (The Arcana, Julian/Lucio)
A Vicious Appetite - 82 (The Arcana, Asra/Apprentice/Julian)
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yes! I want to talk about my things! And hopefully enjoy more comments.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
‘A Long, Long Way to Go to Die’ ends quite bleakly in and of itself, but it’s also the midpoint of a series. I also put some research time into finding details to up the angst quotient just about as high (and vaguely accurate) as possible.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
The Opposite of Falling (the series referenced above) has a happy ending. I feel like I wrapped up the character arcs reasonably well, and my heroine walked away stronger than when she began. That said, it is a very long longfic, so it took a while to get there.
Do you write crossovers? If so, What is the craziest one you’ve ever written?
I haven’t, and I’m not very likely to. But if anyone out there is looking for a crossover idea I want to see a Dragon Age/Star Trek: Voyager crossover exploiting the Kate Mulgrew connection. Yes, Flemeth isn’t just Mythal, she’s also Janeway. (Please, someone take this and write it!)
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Nah. I’ve gotten a couple of comments that weren’t entirely enthusiastic, but I wouldn’t call them hateful. *knocks on wood*
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Yes. And the kind I feel like writing at any given point.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have not, but that would be freaking amazing.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! “Sip of Something Poison” and several chapters of “The Opposite of Falling” were co-written with Verdin.
What’s your all-time favourite ship?
To be honest, I’m not sure I have an all-time favorite ship.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I don’t think I have any fics laying around that I want to finish but won’t. I do have a pile of original fics laying around on the hard drive that I really want to finish, but I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to resurrect.
What are your writing strengths?
Characterization and psychology.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Too many words? I also feel like I’m falling down on metaphor and the ‘show not tell’ thing lately.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I used the occasional bit of Russian in The Opposite of Falling, but I do know just enough Russian to get in trouble. I’m not sure that I would try to write extended dialogue in a language that I don’t have any familiarity with.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
The Arcana. Which started as a writing exercise to futz around with a couple of OCs who are secondary characters in their actual continuity (one of those original fics that I may or may not ever get back to). And next thing I know, I was doing a full rewrite with backstory and interiority and you know, all that good shit you can do with a specific protagonist versus a universalized one.
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Hmmm.... I’m not going to go so much with a favorite, as I’m not sure I can identify a favorite. The fic that I really wish more people had read / responded to is Metanoia.
20 Questions
20 Questions tag~
Tagged by @deadlyglacier! Thank you! <3
How many works do you have on AO3?
5!
What’s your total AO3 word count?
16,903
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
In total? I’ve written for three. Rockman.EXE/Megaman NT Warrior when I was younger and on FF.Net, Persona 5 (that I deleted from AO3), and FMA
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Well I only have five, so that’s easy at least!
Aureate - Roy is a sap disaster when it comes to Ed. Contains lots of references to the color ‘gold’, copious amounts of schmoop, and some NSFW in the form of consensual somnophilia.
The Waning Moon - Ed is dying from ALS. This was inspired by my work as a nursing assistant in an Assisted Living home, after I found that so, so many medical fics disregard the most ugly parts of dying. So I set out to make this as accurate and ugly as I possibly could.
Floo-ke Encounters of the Magical Variety - The obligatory HP/FMA fusion set in the FMA-verse. Ed’s a wizard going to Hogwarts with a time turner and after a problem with the Floo, he comes out of Roy’s office fireplace when he’s supposed to be on a mission in South City. Whoops.
En Garde - The college tour-guide AU that I couldn’t actually bear to write as a tour-guide AU, so I wrote about Ed and Roy being on the fencing team. There’s a horrible amount of fencing innuendos, courtesy of Roy - and Ed threatening to shove Roy’s foil up his ass. I had way too much fun with this one.
Dance with Books - An Ed/Al drabble that I wrote with two excellent prompt one liners.
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I try to? But I kinda suck at it... I’ll get better at it, I swear! And comments make me scream happily.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
The Waning Moon. I gave the fic two different endings, with the ‘bad’ ending being the ‘true’ ending that I had in mind when I wrote it. In it, Ed offers what remains of his life to Truth in order to return Roy’s vision to him, and so that Ed no longer has to suffer with his disease.
A snippet of the end of the 2nd chapter:
He buried his face in his hands, covering his wretched eyes in the process. Edward might have given him his sight back, but now everything he saw was forever tainted with death.
Which was, Roy mused, a fate most befitting for the Flame Alchemist.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Hm... Aureate, probably? It’s a sappy fic that you need to make sure you brush your teeth after reading, because it’ll give you cavities otherwise. It ends with the two of them saying ‘I love you’, so I’m not sure it gets much happier than that!
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Yes! The Harry Potter one is the only one I’ve posted so far, but I’m currently planning out one for Persona 5 based in the FMA verse, where Roy and his team all have personas and the ability to enter the cognitive world. Roy and Ed are together, and Roy starts to have the nagging sensation that Ed might be suffering from a palace - and it turns out he’s right.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Thankfully no! But I also avoid FF.Net like the plague, so... that might have something to do with it. I also try to be very clear about anything that may be triggering, such as the pairings I write for, or any sensitive topics. So far, the haters have stayed away from my fics, phew! I hope it stays that way!
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I mean, I wrote Aureate, so... yes? I struggle a lot with it, but I plan to keep writing to hopefully get better at it. But consensual smut is a must.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Thank goodness no!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Also no!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! I’m working with someone right now to write an ABO-verse FMA fic. More details to come when we finish it :3
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
RoyEd. Preferably with Ed being aged up into adult age. There’s something about having two characters who both understand the demons that the other suffers from, and they can exist (and thrive) in each others’ worlds and minds that I absolutely adore. They’re also amazing foils for each other that cover each other’s weaknesses beautifully.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
My P5-like rewrite of Brotherhood. Sigh. I want to. It’s one that incorporates the social aspect of P5 into FMA for Ed. IE - for each ‘rank up’ of each person that he bonds with, he grows his knowledge of alchemy, and gathers different talents that Truth gives him as he grows.
For example, Truth is represented by the Fool arcana, and at first Rank with it - Ed gains the ability to read the intention behind any array that he sees. As he hits rank 2 with Truth, Truth has the ability to speak to Ed without being in Truth’s realm.
With the other arcana, as he maxes out the social rank with each person, he gains knowledge of an array that he’ll need in order to fight Father on the Promised Day. But Maes dies before Ed can complete his social rank, SO WHAT IS HE GONNA DO?! :3
What are your writing strengths?
Uh, I’m not sure? I like to think that I channel the character whose POV I’m writing through pretty well. And I like showing their thoughts and attitudes through the story itself.
As an example from En Garde -
“Alright! Let’s get started, everyone! Sabres to the north, Foils with me in the center, and Epees to the south!” Roy called out, his voice projecting without making his voice sound any less attractive.
Holy fuck, Ed was already in over his head. He was screwed. Dead. Done. Double done. Absolutely and utterly fucked. And judging from Roy’s flirting, potentially actually fucked.
Shit.
And with that lovely thought, practice started.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I get bored, especially if there’s a part of the story that I’m extremely excited to write. I either start to skimp out on the details of the part of the story prior to it, or I’ll just skip right to the part that I *want* to write, which can sometimes make it read a bit awkwardly when I go back and try to connect it.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Eh. I find it pretty distracting, unless the words/titles are ones that are well known in the fandom. But if I have to scroll to the beginning or end of the chapter to get a translation, I’m not really going to enjoy it. If you *really* want to write in another language (which I’m not at all against), just put the english dialogue in a different type/font to show it’s in a different language.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Megaman NT Warrior (Rockman.EXE). God I loved that show so much when I was younger. I used to carry around notebooks and whenever I had to go to appointments, or I was on the bus, I would jot down ideas and write out stories. But holy shit I was *awful* at it!
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Floo-ke Encounters. It was so much fun to write from start to finish. Roy singing into a stapler and dancing around his office (And can I just say that I am beyond disappointed that NO ONE noticed that he was singing “The Ring of Fire” from Johnny Cash. DISSAPOINT.), Roy having a more or less panic attack as he realized that there were, in fact, TWO Edward Elrics existing at the same time, and Ed’s sheer glee in tormenting Roy. I love it!
