About Sylvester's brain, yeah, there was a throwaway line by the Shade in the end that the JSA did save him. I guess the agonizing brain was meant as a tease for a future season, but Geoff wouldn't be mean to let Sylvester forever suffer a fate worse than the Shadowlands since the show was canceled. Personal Hournite question that I'm sure you must have answered before, and I'm sorry I don't know because I'm a late follower. What was your "I ship them" moment? (My personal journey with Hournite: I'm a comic book reader, but I only discovered Beth - and Yolanda - thanks to the show (when I started reading the comics, they were dead, Pieter Cross and Tomcat were filling their roles - though now DC brought them back!), then I read some old Infinity Inc issues online, saw Beth and Rick totally had a thing in there and became a shipper of them in the show as well, enjoying the moments we were given onscreen)

Oh I missed the throwaway line.

My ship them moment came in threes but what sealed the deal for me was honestly the end of 1x13. I loved the catch in 1x08 and went "ooh ship!?!" because the episode before I had literally said "wow I have no ships" --- But then the 1x10 "Beth, go" coupled with by the end when Beth was crying and Rick went so soft to say "okay" ??? That was the softest he'd ever said any word. I was gone for them at that moment.

Yes, they are in Infinity Inc! I own the comics where they're together! <3 This show also got me into comics, I'll always be grateful for that.

Rules: Put a wip/character/etc playlist on shuffle and list the first 10 songs that come up. Describe how they relate to your WIPs or worldbuilding.

All of these will be coming from my Thu/Uinen playlist

1. Is It True by Mabel Ye

I imagine this from Thu's perspective when Uinen is getting really deep into all the Revendreth shit and seemingly growing apart as a result. Thu doesn't know what to think, and can't decide if they want to keep putting effort into what seems like a failing relationship (spoiler alert: They do)

"I just wanna cry and I just wanna be happy that now I'm finally free"

2. Desert Song by My Chemical Romance

Oh man. This song just makes me think of Uinen at their worst, imprisoned in Castle Nathria. Completely hopeless and believing that this is how it all ends. Becoming Denathrius' consort and mingling with the Venthyr elite while still undeniably being a captive. And then after it all comes crashing down, being found by Thu, helpless, humiliated and completely alone.

"Did you come to stare or wash away the blood?"

3. The Ghost of You by My Chemical Romance

When Uinen disappears, Thu assumes them to be dead. What follows is a complete mental breakdown. Remembering that this is the second time they had failed to save their loved ones from themselves.

"If I died we'd be together"

4. Poison & Wine by the Civil Wars

Just a perfect song about a fractured relationship. One person closes themselves off because they don't know any better, while the other only wants their love. And yet, knowing that they can't be apart; despite their flaws they are destined for each other.

"I don't have a choice, but I'd still choose you"

5. Best Friend by Laufey

This is just such a cute song and the first positive one that I'm gonna write about LMAO. I imagine it from Uinen's POV. It's just about 2 idiots in love, with some snarky comments included. I'd say this is more indicative of their relationship post-Shadowlands. They've both gone through so much bullshit together and now they're just ready to hang out and vibe

6. Romantic by Mannequin Pussy

This one is interesting, because I really think it could be from either of their POVs, though I typically assign it to Thu. Definitely during the Shadowlands Bullshit though. Thu is hopelessly holding onto this semblance of a relationship while watching Uinen slowly drift further and further away, and further into depravity. Leading Thu's mental state to just go spiralling down. I also think that the quieter verses vs. the desperate, screaming choruses are representative of their tendency to ignore their negative feelings and try to focus on what few positives there are, until their negative feelings are literally impossible to keep down any longer

"You would sleep with me, if you could do it comfortably. You're so sweet"

7. Westbound Sign by Green Day

To me, this is about Uinen leaving Suramar for the first time after the dome falls, and going on their first adventures into Azeroth with Thu! She's nervous but excited, and experiencing a wider world she never knew existed. And of course, leaving the city that has continually ostracized her, despite it being the only thing she's ever known.

"Is it salvation, or an escape from discontent?"

8. Happier by A Fine Frenzy

What do I even need to say about this song? It's just perfect. Uinen in Revendreth trying to slowly push Thu away, believing that they deserve more than someone as broken as himself. And despite Thu's protests, succeeding in doing so. The song is from Thu's POV as they watch Uinen grow colder and more distant.

"What a transformation to behold. But I don't like this new, I want the old."

9. The Horror of Our Love by Ludo

I typically assign this to Uinen's POV. It's just a song about a nasty codependent relationship, with the narrator believing themself to be significantly more depraved than the subject. Uinen has quite a fixation on the morbid, and believes themself to be sick ans basically A Twisted Fucking Cycle Path. And they think Thu is the exact opposite; pure, innocent, and their love to be akin to a predator hunting its prey. In reality, Thu is not pure or innocent like Uinen thinks, but it's this image of them that she has in her mind. I also took the title for the playlist, The Awful Edges, from this song.

"The awful edges of where you end and I begin"

10. Grand Hotel by Regina Spektor

My autistic ass has managed to make this entire song a metaphor about the Illidari/The Black Temple, so it's basically just Thu narrating their experiences there wrapped in layers of euphemism. It touches on the disdain for demon hunters that is held by the larger elven society, and the found family dynamic within the Illidari themselves. I honestly could write an entire post about this song alone so I'll leave it at that to spare you all

It is day, uh, whatever, at this point. I have a GRUN05 launchable rocket prototype - you light the fuse, it hisses, it gets off the ground and explodes like 3 minutes into the air. Longer fuse = more air time = more fun time? Uhhhh dunno.

Remote detonation Vibe activation -> activates vibe Lights rocket fuse -> rocket goes boom -> blows OUT vibe -> fun fun fun times.

Basically I need to get off to get the rocket off. YEAH

More coffee stains, with burnt out portions of the pages. The writer has failed to provide a good reason why time has passed, and will be sacked.

It worked. Shit worked. I had a really good rumbly time, which lit the fuse, which activated the rocket....

The rocket had really good timing with me. Yeah. It was nice.

Calling this The Real LoveRocket. Shit's gonna sell like hotcakes.

I wanna see the HEROES have half as much fun as me in the Shadowlands.

DC's Stargirl 3.03 "Chapter Three: The Blackmail" has aired on the CW and I'm here to talk about it.

Oh my god someone was walking a pig on a leash. So cute!

I still feel like this isn't the real Sylvester and he's trying to stir up some drama with the team.

The crocks just showing up in the Whitmore-Dugan home at random is so funny to me.

So good old Uncle Matt Tyler is gone, which isn't exactly surprising. Considering Rick kinda did beat the shit out of him last season. Granted, it wasn't entirely Rick's fault, and the uncle deserved it.

Cindy trying to help out the team anonymously from a distance is an interesting but I think brilliant choice from the creative team. Obviously, Yolanda and Rick aren't warming up to her any time, Beth and Courtney are more willing but still cautious (which is reasonable), and Cindy knows that. So she's chosen a different strength to play to while still helping out. I'm proud of her. I really do think after her experience with Courtney in the Shadowlands last season she really wants to be better and do some good. And if she can get some answers about her dad and her past while she's at it, who can say that's a bad thing.

Barbara and Paula's newfound friendship is my favourite subplot of this season. Paula very clearly meeting Tim and being like "I'll kill him for you" is amazing.

Look at Zeek coming in with some solid life advice!

Fun fact, Irwin Hasen was an artist in the original Alan Scott Green Lantern comics in the 40s and was the artist behind Wildcat! I believe he also did some work on early Flash comics. Fun little Easter egg for the fans with comic knowledge or who like to google every name drop (which is what I do).

I really wanna see Rick and Cameron fight this season. I think that'd be fun. And I like Rick standing up for this teacher! Even if it's mostly an excuse to fight Cameron (which it may or may not be, who knows). I believe this was the teacher he was having a lot of problems with last season and it's nice to see a little growth from him there.

Well shit Cindy, why you gotta come start-up drama with Sylvester. I do like to see her starting trouble though. Kinda wish she's replied to his "I'm Starman" with a "you were Starman." That'd have been fun.

Now, why does he have to come to fight them in a grocery store of all places? Have some tact! Who looks like the bad guy now? I do love me some teamwork, and you can really feel how Lawrence and Paula have been fighting together for years. Their dynamic feels very clear and defined. They don't have to talk, they know each other's moves and can play off each other really well. It's honestly some of the best teamwork we've seen in an Arrowverse show in terms of how natural it feels.

Another reason to think that this either isn't the real Sylvester or Sylvester was not the kind of guy who should be a hero, he comes out of the store looking like a crazy killer. He's not just going to beat them into submission, he's going to kill them. I'm normally a big believer that yes, more comic villains need to be killed already and it's a problem that they're left alive. However, I don't think either Lawrence or Paula qualifies for that.

Pat Dugan is so under-fucking-rated. Absolutely incredible man. The definition of a good father and a good man.

Thank you for saying it Cindy, Sylvester is super an ass.

On one hand, this Courtney & Cameron reunion is kinda cute. On the other, Courtney deserves so much better.

Paula is so fucking creepy when she wants to be and I love it.

Our first look at Mr Bones! Or perhaps a second person he hired to do his dirty work, but still!

Starman dead again? I'd support it!

Well, what an ending! Things are in motion, that's for sure. And of course, the little teaser for next week looks like Cameron is about to become a much bigger player. We'll just have to wait and see for next week with DC's Stargirl 3.04 "Chapter Four: The Evidence".

Day of the Dead should belong to the Blood Elves.

Day of the Dead exists ingame but with no real tie to any race or any real origin, and it’s only kind of tossed on Forsaken bc it Fits their Vibe. But I FIRMLY believe it should have been started by belves and here’s why: ARTHAS.

90% of Quel’thalas’ population was wiped out in the siege, and then more after the Sunwell’s destruction, then more after Kael’thas’ whole descent, and the blood elves have only continued to lose more and more as time went on. Their streets are empty and quiet. There are so, so many empty homes. Generations lost. So much lost. This IMPACTS a civilization severely, and I feel, personally, that they would quickly begin traditions to honor the dead, to reunite with their loved ones or to just... cope with the tragedy that struck them all.

Day of the Dead is about celebrating the lives of the fallen. You build an altar for the deceased loved one, you cook all of their favorite foods, you decorate it, dress up and paint your face with a skull, you sing and you dance and you parade and you celebrate you CELEBRATE. The dead were still members of the community, and by honoring their memory, you keep them alive in spirit. In WoW, the Day of the Dead is a time where the Shadowlands is closest to Azeroth, so you can genuinely commune with the dead and you can see them ingame dancing with you in the graveyard, partying with you! It’s nice!!

You wanna tell me blood elves WOULDN’T turn to these kinds of styled traditions to deal with their loss? To keep the morale up? To honor NINETY PERCENT OF THEIR NOW DEAD POPULATION? They view death not with sadness or mourning, but simply as a part of the natural cycle, and will celebrate this time of year because it means the fallen can come back to them for a time and celebrate with them, celebrate the time they had alive, and it’s just so!! oh it gets me so worked up!!! SURE we can just toss it on the Forsaken but the cultural impact isn’t entirely the same and also come on come onnnnnnn
