I'm thinking of how funny it would be if Ark and Twig came across an outlaw that they don't actually know is an outlaw. And they tag along, hoping for the chance to steal their stuff for a quick buck.

And then they quickly realize just how bad of a situation they're I'm because these two adventurers, NEITHER of whom are registered under an official guild, are destroying these monsters with ease! For goodness sake, that creepy one just powderized that guy while discussing dinner plans! And he didn't skip a beat! Eventually they make their way out and, ever so thankfully, they're not infamous enough to be wanted in this somewhat isolated town. But now they're crashing at Twig's place because he let slip that they dont have a place to stay?? And they can't sneak out because that creepy floaty guy isn't going to bed???? so since we're already on the subject of the Crash Arc, allow me to expand on it for a moment before i get to Sally Thinkings! if you've read the snippet, you may have noticed the extent of Wally's injuries was not listed yet. well! he got messed up with a capital F! since it's fiction and i'm god in this scenario, i'm veering slightly away from realistic damage, immediate & lasting. bc lets be real. if i stuck to "this is as realistic as i can make it", then Wally would be aaaaaabsolutely fucked. it was a bad crash in a very unsafe vehicle at high speeds. like - this is what happened. a drunk driver hit Home going 70 down the freeway. swerve, fishtail, tumble down a (small, shallow, really its more like a glorified ditch) ravine with trees and rocks and shit on it. absolute miracle that Wally didn't die in the crash, let alone during the solid half hour (slightly longer) he was trapped in Home before someone noticed the crash site and called emergency personnel. Wally "hanging up" on Barnaby was actually the impact jarring him so he slipped and hit the end call button. but yeah without going into technicalities and detail, Wally has some lasting damage in his dominant hand. It takes extensive physical therapy for him to be able to paint/draw again at the same level he had been at. the hematoma hadn't done a lot of brain damage that wouldn't resolve itself with time. in my mind, when Wally wakes up in the hospital, for a few days he's very confused and his memory is shot. he'll wake up, interact, then go to sleep, but when he wakes up again its like waking up for the first time again. he just can't retain memories for a bit. he's got some severe brain fog. his mood is also kinda fucked with - he's uncharacteristically irritable with low patience, etc. these are all things that clear up with time, but in my mind Wally has chronic migraines going forward. bad ones! and there are days where it's harder fr him to concentrate. and yk. a teeny bit of chronic pain where his shin bone was pinned back together and where his hand was essentially crushed. but other than that he's fine going forward! good days and bad days!

but enough about that! You Want To Hear About Sally!

i imagine that she becomes quite successful in the theater industry. i'm not too familiar with it myself, so i'm gonna be uh. Vague about it? but she starts her own theater troupe - it's a bit of a commute from home base to the town she works in, where the theater is located in, but she makes it work! of the group, she's probably away more than any of them. working on shows, traveling to work on other ones - i like to think she's been on Broadway! she probably has had opportunities to do tv/movie acting, but idk... i feel like Sally would be like "nah. live shows or nothing". maybe at some point she takes up voice acting gigs, as long as she can do them from home. she probably has her own little room-turned-VA-studio thing. idk how that works either! it seems right! but yes Howdy's store's automated messages and advertisements are in Sally's voice. she's probably picked up a temporarily modeling gig here and there.

so Sally is very very busy. Poppy is supportive. everyone is, and they all love to help out when they can - and reel Sally in when the "stardom" starts to get to her head. they do their best to acclimate to occasionally getting jumpscared by her voice in a grocery store or in. idk. fashion shoots. victoria's secret billboards. that last one was a joke! maybe. i think she would.

i also like to imagine Sally like... getting some sort of award and then spending a solid five minutes naming her friends, thanking them with specificity, and then plugging their own stuff. they probably have a rotation for who accompanies her as her plus one for events and parties she may or may not be invited to. she's not like... a Big celebrity but! she's Known and Liked! she has Connections! i like to imagine her and Wally looking dapper as fuck at a Venue...

so the friend group typically stays together, with Sally going off to do her Things the most. she makes sure to schedule time to be with her friends and girlfriend/wife/Poppy between work and gigs and etc. she somehow finds a balance with Ease. or apparent ease... someone get this girl a vacation...

I sent someone an anon about this a couple months ago, but the arc I was expecting for Sansa was more along the lines of Cordelia Chase from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, like basically when Cordelia is introduced to the show at the beginning of BTVS she is a selfish, materialistic, cruel, classist bully, but over the course of BTVS and especially ATS she grown into a kinder, more caring, and compassionate person and genuinely comes to regret her past behaviour. I was kind of expecting an arc like this for Sansa, but it never happens? Like book Sansa experiences very little growth in the books, and I’m not even going to get into show Sansa, the development of her character is incredibly disappointing and you can tell GRRM didn’t really know what to do with her.

I could have definitely seen that happening for her arc. I think the main reason she has stagnated in that area is that George intends for Arya and Sansa to work their issues out on page, rather than just having them reconcile immediately when they reunite. I mentioned in a previous ask that I didn't think he had a solid idea of what he was doing with her character, but I'm not sure that's exactly it. It's more that fandom has decided that Sansa's character is something different than what he's actually writing for her. He created her as a foil for Arya and to cause conflict, and I think he still sees that as part of her purpose. There's the only thing that makes sense to me. He put her in the perfect situation to reflect on her own classism and grow. Instead, we just get a reminder that she still thinks like that. She thinks even pretending to be a bastard is beneath her and gets incredibly upset at being called one; yet she doesn't reflect at all on her attitude towards Jon, Mya, or any other low-born character. Given how George has written other characters confronting their flaws or wrongful attitudes, this comes across as very intentional.

I do think there could still be time for Sansa to have that kind of growth, but it would most likely happen after the Stark sisters' conflict plays out. I don't think it's a coincidence that their conflict is somewhat rooted in classism, with Sansa's dissatisfaction with Arya being that she doesn't act like a high-born Lady. While Arya begins the story as someone sympathetic to the smallfolk and then goes through a journey where she witnesses their experiences first-hand, Sansa stays relatively in a high-born bubble and doesn't confront any of her prejudices. George has mentioned before that they have issues they need to work out and I think he's created the perfect setup for it.

on the other hand it is *immensely* funny to me that we’ve reached the point that the things sanji can pull off are no longer congruent with him being ‘just some guy’ when he’s already been lighting his own leg on fire for years

You can like shit that has problematic shit in it, without being a bad person. You don't have to give me a list of EVERY bad thing a piece of media you enjoy does, & why it's bad, but it DOES help to be mindful of that shit. You're allowed to enjoy your bad thing. You don't have to explain it or qualify it to anyone -- you know it's bad, we all know it's bad.

That said, if you watch something with bad shit, people will indeed judge you, or want you to not talk about your thing, or may even avoid you/block you for posting about it. While I know that feels bad, it's just a fact, bud. Those people don't directly want to hurt you, they just feel real strongly, & I think they're allowed to feel that, & I think they're allowed to act on that, to a certain point.

FURTHERMORE, there is a fucking line that you do not, do not, do NOT cross! Where that is will be different for most people, & fuzzy for all. For me, I can tolerate a lot of shit, but another person may not. I also think there is a definitive line you don't cross, which is media that is actively hurting somebody. I find it helpful to ask, "Is consuming this thing harmful? Can I hurt somebody this way?" ive only seen s9 once but i think the more i think about it the more joan marrying strange makes sense. i think it's kind of a tragic end for her given how she did a lot of really cool stuff previously in the series, but given the time in which she lives and the various traumatic experiences shes gone through, it makes sense that she marries someone who is safe and kind and funny enough, even though i dont think she loves strange as much as she loves morse. she can see that morse is not relationship material, certainly not in the way she would want him to be, where as strange provides the stability that she wants with all the family troubles that she's experiencing in the show.
