You and Ajax had been together for over 3 months now and couldn't have been happier having been friends since childhood before you were turned. Later on in life, your parents decided to enroll you in Nevermore, the school for outcasts such as yourself.

You did make friends and became rather close to Ajax's own friends Enid herself took you under her wing to show you how to survive in the school.

However, it was a known fact that your boyfriend and his best friend Xavier were stoners no pun intended in Ajax's case. Other People who weren't as close to you as your group of friends were wouldn't see it as such a big deal but your friends did.

You see you were very different compared to your boyfriend, soft-spoken and often described as a trembling bunny which earned you your nickname “bunny” or “bun bun”. Nose twitching or coughing when even the smell of the plant even came close to you. Although your boyfriend found it cute and funny to watch you squirm in his lap as he took a hit during one of the many dorm parties.

His friends didn't see it the same way he did. they couldn't even begin to understand how the both of you worked and they didn't want to and that's how you landed in this situation.

His sweet little bunny perched on his lap talking with her best Enid. Xavier passed him the blunt for his turn, as he blew out the smoke into the reader's face she let out a little cough but non the less smiled at him and kissed his cheek.

Xavier just had to open his high of the face of the earth mouth.

“Ajax come on man how long are you guys gonna keep this up?” Xavier had a big smirk on his face which fell as Wednesday smacked the back of his head

Ajax just watched as you slid off his lap and began to walk toward the door exiting the dorm. He quickly went after you only catching the beginning lecture his best friend was about to get from the two short tempered girls.

After a while of searching for you, he found you in your dorm, tear-stained face cuddling into the soft grey bear he had given you on your first date.

Ajax wasn't prepared for your following words at all in fact they broke his heart and threw him off his high

“Why are you still with me.... He has a point you know... What are we even doing together” sentence after sentence shattering his heart into pieces. “What do you mean what are we doing together we're together because we love each other even Wednesday said we're like yin and yang we balance each other like two pieces of a perfect puzzle”

he spoke as he sat down at the edgy of your bed brushing the hair out of your face look at you as if you were an angel. You couldn't even speak because of how many emotions you felt. Relief, loved and cherished and you snugged your face into his hand

As the night began to end Ajax alone in his room could only think of one thing. Kicking Xaviers ass for making you cry

Jaune wouldn’t necessarily have as much motivation to find Raven as Yang does. After all, he only found out a few months ago that he was ABANDONED by his birth mother, not just a war orphan. So that “why did my mother abandon me” hasn’t had time to fester

They really like her strong imagery, plot twists, and her stories are pretty gore-heavy but the narration is quite compelling (seriously, she goes so in depth on random macabre shit like different types of murders, ways to cover up said murders, poisons and upkeep on daggers and all this dark shit etc etc that a popular comment she’ll get is ‘hey not to be rude but whats your search history like because how do you KNOW all this??’)

Meanwhile Enid mainly writes fanfics of her fav kpop bands and other OTPs that are often AUs or canon divergent heavy, sometimes she’ll pop off with the most hilarious fanfic that is pure CRACK

That being said, Enid’s works have some pretty damn good dialogue I just know it in my bones that she’s a character driven type of writer

Her emotional introspection is also? Surprisingly good?? Like damn when the feels hit they HIT, Enid is definitely the type to write the fluffest fluff, the angstiest angst, and the most cathartic hurt/comfort you’ll ever read if you make the conscious decision to look past her occasional grammatical errors and other typos

Wednesday’s original works, on the other hand, definitely aren't as much of a heartthrob, they’re probably more plot driven with less space for overly descriptive emotional scenes (both writing styles are valid as hell, mind you)

Andddd that’s the story of how Enid came back to the dorm with Thing being locked up in the drawer while Wednesday is burying her face in her pillow in what looks like a half-hearted attempt of suffocating herself

Anyways Wednesday’s repressed ass starts to ‘vent’ in her fanfics, if people start noticing DaysEnd incorporating more romance into their works no they don't stfu

It gets to the point where she ‘confesses’ to Enid by having Viper confesses to this new bubbly character that was recently introduced (“These feelings you have plagued me with, you make me sick,” said Viper, “And for my sake, I hope there is no cure.”)

Enid, with a lot I mean a metric fuckton of persuasion from Thing, eventually picks up on this and confesses back

Cue Wednesday beta reading Enid’s latest wattpad work and noticing how it’s about two polar opposite roomates who somehow make it work, and when the cheery one says to the gloomy one, “I also hope there’s no cure for the way I feel about you” it suddenly all clicks for Wednesday

But imo, Goddard's kinda like cheap liquor on your 21st birthday: gratifying, limitless, and confidence-boosting, for a time (so long as you keep the party going, and keep yourself from thinking too much). My man Alan Watts though—he's got fine bourbon in his cabinet, and him and his friends are the type to make sure you also drink some water. Lemme unpack that.

If you're an Old Soul, a Highly Sensitive Person, or a high-achieving kid who ever really burnt out—you know the real shadowy depths of consciousness, cause you've not only seen some real shit, but felt it. In the words of the great Queen Bee siren from Nevermore Academy: "Fire tests gold. Suffering tests a woman." And Wednesday gets it too, she knows you aren't truly you if you don't embrace the Dark; you're a normie, by the def that normies are those who are too scared to let out their nature. It's not all rainbows and Versace.

For who'd benefit to hear my Journey or w/e (or anyone who suspects sour grapes and wants credentials): I transitioned in 2010 (before it was cool), picked up a Satanic Bible where I learned "Be Your Own God," then became an absolute sex bomb succubus who'd work a whole house party and have people lining up to wrap themselves around my finger—often, I'd make them compete with each other, just for my amusement. Yeah, I stan Marina and I went Golddigger; I manifested the Space Needle into my backyard (basically), ate steak dinners and dined out on the reg, and sometimes would drop hundreds of dollars in a shopping trip just on clothes alone. My cosmetic procedures were all paid for. In the past eleven years, I've probably worked about a year's worth, tops, because I haven't needed to. I won't get into the supernatural-miracle type shit, cause that's a post of its own.

If I'd discovered Goddard back then, he'd probably have been the same amount of helpful. But I'm at a different stage rn, and the methods I've read on tumblr just haven't cut it. Maybe they haven't for you either. Hope these resources help.

the popularity and but team jnpr  arguments I have  seen regarding bb in fandom

I have seen people try to argue that bb being popular in the fandom means there must have been buildup or evidence for the ship ( to counter the people who point out there wasnt any hints to bb while blacksun gets years of teasing mutual attraction and development since v1 to v6 ep 1 bb at best started to be teased in v6 finale ( though nothing there was inherently romantic you could say they intended it to come off like that due to the va's (besides the hug scene ) at worst v7 where bb began to be heavily pushed in a way it felt forced.

it felt like it was being treated like it was something we can all see ( by the cast) or compared to renora which was actively teased since v1 ( bb didnt deserve that treatment it

blacksun gets the buildup bb gets the payoff

or they try to claim that

because team jnpr got together/hinted with their partners ( arkos and renora ) to form het ships that the writers are obligated to do the same thing with bb and white rose

when not really ( just like how they dont have to kill one of team rwby you cant just demand the positive things

it reminds me of the claim about jaune cutting off ravens head because ruby cut off tyrians scorpion tail and how nevermore and death stalker grimm were rwby and jnprs first team opponents where ruby cut off nevermores head deathstalker lost its tail due to team jnpr before its defeat

saying there will be lgbt characters doesnt mean that the writers have to make it the main characters

shipping in the end is about whether you would like to see the characters together if you think it would work etc

( of course there may be various reasons but in my eyes shipping or not shipping based on genders or races  involved  is the wrong reason ( this includes shipping something just because its same sex just as much as not shipping something because its same sex )m

if someone doesnt ship a same sex ship or criticize one even if its the only same sex ship in the show they shouldnt get called homophobic just for not shipping it 

genders involved shouldnt be a shield from criticism

lgbt representation shouldnt be a shield from criticism

if they built up a het ship for years and threw it away just for same sex ship a lgbt rep due to its popularity  that is a bad thing just like actual queerbaiting

if you build up a ship while giving nothing that hinted at a romantic relationship to any other character that would interfere with the ship

you should give it the pay off rather than throw it away

( I dont buy the idea that bb was planned from the start it had nothing hinting at a romantic relationship till v6 finale before then it was all platonic ( and no having some plot moments like losing the arm etc  isnt evidence) 

at that point after giving blacksun so much buildup even if they did plan for bb to become canon from the start they should have just went with blacksun given they gave nothing for bb as a romantic ship 

people try to argue that the blake and yang spent more time with each other off screen but offscreen is just that its irrelevant its the crwbys job to give us actual hints in what we see so it doesnt come out of the blue

no amount of going black the beast or yellow beauty ( bringing up those lines in the songs which have nothing to do with romance )  will change that 

no amount of going but yin and yang  or color motifs with yellow and purple being complimentary ( which blacksun also has ) will change that

Firstly dam that was a smooth fight, whoever said bees would stop team combos, Ya Wrong, PTSD stops team combos.

I gotta say both Ruby and Jaunes breakdowns didn’t disappoint, they both hit hard. I’m hoping they both come to realize that being leaders is one of the hardest things they can be. Both of them are likely starting to understand the pain both Ozpin (kinda they’re only living their first-ish life) and Ironwood felt being leaders and faced with seemingly impossible odds that break them. I feel like this is a good step for both of them, and I can’t wait to see where their stories go, having both major leaders breakdown at the same time, is bold, but it makes sense, Jaune was occupied with his town, and ya know the whole fairytale happening around him that his breakdown was delayed until stuff started changing rapidly with the arrival of Best Girl Neo and team RWBY. Meanwhile ruby has seen Wiess keep it together following atlas (and is now very jealous). The Bees go Buzz Buzz, and get that relationship going

(side note, even though Yang wasn't talking about Ruby in that shack with Jaune, turns out Jaune was dead wrong, Ruby’s has gone and snapped at least for now)

also affecting her, the blacksmith did… that, and she gave away her last link to Summer. And now Jaune has turned out to be nuts and Neo/Walker has brought it all down on her. The Paper Pleasers flood the town, causing jaune to break and ruby starts the scene. All in Perfect Order, good job CRWBY.

Yeah that's right, it was here the whole time, the shot of the Bridge in paper town getting absorbed by the water is the fulfillment of the bridge line if you needed more proof that that's what this is talking about.

(side note: yeah the song is about more than just this little ptsd moment i know) 

So tree’s back on the table and with 3 eps left i reckon it’s gonna be like a V8 and dump us out in some strange ass place, vacuo or back in V3 (see time travel theory about a return to beacon and then have a volume getting back in time to everyone else, thus allowing for Ozpin's death to be seen as CRWBY have said they will do) and the finding of purposes is what de-ages Jaune.

Going back to how Ruby and Jaune are learning how Oz and Ironwood felt, i can now say i feel that a reversal of “ironwood is bad because we said so” i had been on the fence as to if CRWBY had a plan with his downfall or if it was bad writing but i can say now i lean to a larger plan. Team RWBY finding out that actually they weren't as bad as they think, that morals are not as black and white as those heroes in the books.

Blake the Western Yin (陰) and Yang the Eastern Yang (陽), aka damn.. more RWBY meta

This is a follow-up post to an earlier one I did, where I freaked out over how Yang was inspired by the greatest Chinese martial arts female character ever [TDLR; Yang is 99.9% a literary conduit for a 1959 beloved classic about overcoming personal trauma and conquering life with your soulmate, plus wild Bumbleby allusions.]

Having identified some cool Eastern influences on RWBY meta lore, it was surprising to see just how deep this rabbit hole goes. By the time I’d thought through the philosophical implications of Bumbleby, I was - again - in awe of the rich tapestry of double meanings RWBY gifts us with.

Without further ado: My thesis on why Monty is a frigging genius, in three parts.

Yin and Yang, Part I: Shadow and Light

Most recognize the circular black and white symbol for yin and yang, which at its simplest represents the powerful duality of equal and opposite forces.

Applying classic RWBY name etymology, we know that Blake is derived from the Old English word blæc, meaning ‘dark’, or ‘dark-haired’ (although in very yin and yang style, it’s also a potential derivative of blāc, meaning ‘bright’ or ‘pale’). Hence Blake’s dominant color scheme of black.

And Yang... ah, shit. Yang’s name originates from the Chinese character yang (陽), meaning ‘sunny’ or ‘light’. Correspondingly, her color is yellow. Given that Weiss literally means ‘white’ in German/Yiddish, does this mean the Monochromers among us can declare a checkmate?

Nothing against Monochrome, but the answer is hell no.

Black and white might visually represent yin and yang, but the original Chinese is what gets us to the true heart of the concept:

Without waxing too much on Chinese character components, the character yin (陰) literally translates to ‘shadow’ (the right half ideographically combines the components jin 今 ‘now’ and yun 云 ‘cloud’), while the character yang (陽) as mentioned denotes ‘sun’ and ‘sunlight’ (the right half depicts the sun’s rays shining down). 

Note both characters share the same lefthand component (阝), emphasizing the idea of complementarity; when shadow and light unite, they form a greater, more dynamic whole. 

Given the show’s consistent juxtaposition of Blake with shadows (eg. From Shadows, her semblance, Belladonna referencing ‘nightshade’) and Yang with the sun (eg. I Burn, her semblance, literal name is ‘the sun’) it’s undeniable that RWBY’s true yin and yang are Blake and Yang.

Others have expounded on how their characters and fighting styles complement each other, ie. Blake is withdrawn and prefers evasive combat, whereas Yang is extroverted and prefers head-on combat. Much has also been said about Blake and Yang’s complementary colors of purple and yellow (we’ll get to that later).

But allusions to yin and yang imply a deeper connection between the two. It suggests not only that Blake and Yang complement each other, but one is incomplete - cannot exist, even - without the other. Why? Because shadow is the absence of light, and vice versa. Without one, the other loses meaning. Without night there is no day, without disorder there is no order... without Blake (yin) there is no Yang (yang).

Yin and Yang, Part II: The Tiger and The Dragon

Now there’s a lot of shit out there around the different manifestations of yin and yang, so I’m sticking to a particularly relevant one that’s common knowledge in East Asian culture: the Tiger and the Dragon.

The old Chinese proverb “龍爭虎鬥” (roughly translated ‘the dragon makes war, the tiger does battle’) reflects classic yin and yang symbolism. It refers to the conflict between equally matched spirits who are as different from each other as shadow and light, but at the same time are strangely kindred and interdependent. “Mortal enemies intricately linked together by destiny,” as some have put it.

In RWBY, no two characters fit this angsty Tiger (yin) and Dragon (yang) dynamic better than Blake and Yang.

For one, Yang Xiao Long (陽小龍) translated means ‘Sunny Little Dragon’.

Blake... well, Blake is a literal cat.

Furthermore, the tiger is a ground animal representing Earth, and is thus traditionally positioned slightly lower in the yin-yang swirl relative to the dragon, a winged creature connected to Heaven (and by extension, the sun). In their interactions with each other, the tiger’s momentum tends to be from the ground upwards ↑, while the dragon’s is sky downwards ↓. Irrefutable evidence that Blake is a bottom. 

This earthbound tiger/airborne dragon dynamic tracks Blake and Yang’s respective emotional journeys incredibly well, both individually and in relation to each other. I love how the lyrics in dedicated Blake/Yang/Bumbleby soundtracks make this explicit:

From Shadows/I Burn: Blake, being a Faunus and raised in the White Fang, grows up feeling ‘born into subjugation’, ‘crushed’ by human rule, and vows to ‘rise above ↑’ the darkness ie. the conditions forced on her and her people. Yang’s relatively carefree nature, on the other hand, has her challenging enemies to shoot their rockets as high as they can, because in true dragon-style, she’s soaring way above and will ‘take them down ↓’.

All That Matters: Following the loss of Yang’s arm, Blake’s departure, and their eventual reunion, their dynamic has shifted. The lines ‘Thought that I could pull you from the shadows / Maybe help you find your wings and fly’ indicates a more subdued Yang, who in attempting to protect and get Blake to open up to her, has had her own figurative wings clipped, and is grappling not only with defeat, but also the difficulty of ‘pinning down ↓’ someone who has betrayed her trust.

Nevermore: This is Blake and Yang’s song following Adam’s defeat, a resounding confirmation of their growth as individuals and as a couple (’Not dying now, we're protecting our own’). That the title of the song is ‘Nevermore’ - a Grimm born of shadow, but one that shares the dragon’s ability to soar, is a really cool nod to the balance found between Blake’s yin and Yang’s yang. It was in acknowledging, not erasing, past mistakes (shadows) that freedom was finally found.

Yin and Yang, Part III: Purple and Yellow

This one is straightforward. We all know the color of Blake and Yang’s eyes, clothing accents and auras mirror each other. But something else I’d missed before - purple has traditionally been associated with royalty and power... in the European West. 

The color associated with power, and traditionally reserved only for emperors and empresses in Chinese/Eastern culture? Yellow.

Our resident RWBY yin and yang duo not only manifest royalty in their respective domains and symbolically bring together East and West; but more importantly, when Blake looks at Yang, and Yang looks at Blake...  

Both see a literal queen in the other.

In conclusion, thank you Monty for orchestrating this exquisite story; one that teaches us beauty and balance are found in each other’s diversity.

The Grimlands, an unnatural hellscape where nothing natural ever exists, otherworldly in form as far as can be seen. Rivers of a dark substance cover the landscape as the creatures of Grimm spewed out by the second. The only structure for untold miles is an ancient castle. Somewhere within its halls is a laboratory where a Scientist and a Grimm-like woman observe a woman floating in a glass tube. "Subject is stable, Lady Salem." The scientist addressing his mistress, his mustache hiding a confident grin. The woman in the tube seems to have the same ghost-white skin as this Salem. Her eyes slightly open and she can hear everything being said. "Who would have guessed that mongrel Taurus would deliver us such a promising specimen after the fall of that eyesore Beacon."   

Salem simply nods approvingly while a throne made of black energy. "Is this the only one we have at this moment?" Salem while noticing the bright yellow bracelet lying on the table collecting dust. "If Cinder's reports are accurate, this Yang Xiao Long would be better as a Lusus Naturae." 

"Lusus … what is she talking about?" Yang thinks as she begins to drift into consciousness slowly. The mustachioed scientist quickly noticed activity on display next to the machine. "Where am I? Who are these people?" Then mental images flash in her mind, memories of her childhood with a little dark-haired girl in a red hood. Later to the image of her confrontation with a redheaded faunus with horns. Just thinking about him causes her to panic and begins to struggle to get out. "What are they doing to me!? Where is Ruby?!"  

Watts is slightly shocked, his patient is waking up, but when he checks the tube's instruments.  "That's peculiar… I put her into a medically induced coma. Must be the enhancements we've given her." He presses a button on the touchscreen display, nearly instantly, Yang loses consciousness. "Her Grimm half must have given her a heightened chemical resistance. I tripled the dosage, but the subject will still regain consciousness in a matter of hours. We will need proper restraints to contain the specimen." 

 Yang wakes up hours later, still floating in the glass tank she was before. "Something about  those dreams doesn't feel right, but why, though?" Her eyes open wide, seeing that she is alone and a dull yellow bracelet sitting on a nearby table. Looking at it triggered the mental image of herself beating up a whole night club full of people with shotgun gauntlets. She tries to move her arms, but the doctor and mysterious Salem put her in heavy restraints while she was out cold. "If I can punch a giant Nevermore out of the sky, I can get out of this! Then I most likely have to fight my way out of here … wherever here is!" 

She puts effort into breaking her new restraints, putting all her strength into shattering her binds. "Come on, you gotten out of worse!" The veins in her arms bulge out and turn black, and her muscles begin to expand slightly. The sound of bending metal can somehow, despite her currently in a glass tube full of a thick oxygenated liquid. "Come on already!" Bolts bust out of the restraints, floating to the bottom of the tank. With a loud snap, one of the shackles bust open, and Yang quickly frees the other afterward. After cracking her knuckles punches the glass, only it doesn't shatter, and it hurts her hand. 

“Don’t bother … that glass is of the same type used in the construction of Aquariums. You are too weak to break it!” A familiar voice from before speaks to Yang, yet she can’t see anyone else in the room. “By all means, keep trying.”  The antagonistic voice just gets Yang angrier.

“I don’t know how much you know about me, but calling me weak only pisses me off even more!” As an act of defiance, Yang shatters the glass containing her much to her surprise. The vibration reverberates through her hand from the impact. “You were saying?” Stepping out of the tube and she immediately falls flat on her face, her legs feel like jelly. “You have got to be kidding me! Guess I shouldn’t skip leg day again.” An alarm goes off almost immediately after along with flashing red lights. “Great, just what my day needed more danger!” Yang manages to crawl to a nearby table where she finds a simple yellow bracelet. “Talk about coincidence.” She puts it on and holds onto the wall to walk out of the room. “How long have I been in that tube?”

In the hallway, she stumbles past a wall-mounted mirror, finally looking at herself. Her grimmified appearance being enough to frighten her. Her hair a significantly lighter shade of blond. Her skin is ghost white with black veins on her arms. A small horn peaking out of her hairline. Her eyes now a glowing red with black sclera, eyes like a Grimm. “What did they do to me?!” In her disbelief slips again taking the mirror with her

*Yang grabs a Beowolf by the tail, swings it around Super Mario 64-style, smacks all the other Grimm away with said Beowolf, tosses it into the air, readies an attack, then uppercuts the Beowolf’s head clean off its body as soon as it falls back down to her*

Yang (assuming a cocky pose): Heh.

*Flash cut! back to the Arc-Xiao Long-Nikos residence*

Jaune: …Very, VERY strong. And powerful.

Yin: Really? How strong is she?

*Flash cut! to a flashback back at Beacon Academy*

*Jaune wakes up with Yang and Pyrrha cuddling with him in bed*

Jaune (struggling to get out): Rgh! Yang, please let me out.

Yang (sleeping happily): No.

Jaune: Let me out, please.

Yang: No.

Jaune (still struggling): Let…me…out!

Yang (tightening the grip): No.

*Jaune sighs in defeat and gives up*

*Flash cut! back to the present*

Jaune (sternly): VERY.

Yin (awestruck): Wow…

Perseus: What about our mom, dad?

Athena: Yeah, what’s our mommy like?

Jaune: Well, Athena, Perseus. Your mother…

*Flash cut! to Pyrrha fighting against a lot of Grimm in the same area Yang is in*

Pyrrha (slashing and cutting): Hagh! Yah! Hraaaaah!

*Pyrrha activates her semblance to control a bunch of sharp, metallic pipes around, then impales a flock of Nevermores through their necks with said pipes*

Pyrrha (smirking): Hmph.

*Flash cut! back to the residence*

Jaune: …Just like Yin’s mom, your mom is just as strong and powerful.

Perseus: Wow! Really?

Athena: Equally strong? How strong is mommy compared to my sister’s mommy?

*Flash cut! back to Beacon in the past*

Jaune (attempting to try again to get out): Rgh! Pyrrha! Can you please tell Yang to let me go?
