If Kon draws I apologize. Most of my knowledge of him comes from the Young Justice cartoon and just from the first two posts I have seen of comic Kon panels, I know I am woefully under informed about him. I need to find a good YJ run, but from what I understand the new writer apparently treats the characters like crap besides Cassie and that could just be how the ppl who’s reviews I’ve read have seen it and not be the case, but I really am tired of writers who hate or don’t know the characters writing them.
Ohhh, don't worry about it. I'm also not an expert on Kon (or really anybody), I just thought the two issues in which there is like a little side-plot of Kyle teaching Kon how to draw was pretty cute hahaha (it's in Green Lantern 1990 #94 and Superboy 1994 #46 if you want to check it out and here are some panels others posted).
If you're curious about good YJ runs though, I think the original (Young Justice 1998) is probably still the best one and the one everyone really gets the comic characterisation of their dynamic for! I haven't read it yet (no time T.T) but it's definitely on my reading list and I've seen quite a few panels, many of which are very cute and fun~
(Linking two of them I remember off the top of my head - breaking the fourth walls and kon, bart, greta in one of the funniest (and also kinda sweet) scene that lives rent free in my head)

WIP Wednesday Game
Taken from @kedreeva.
It’s WIP Wednesday, time for a little accountability, sharing your work, and getting a kick in the pants.
Here’s how it works:
In a reblog of this post (so people can find you in the notes) or new thread (w/ rules attached) if you want to play on your own, post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to play!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can't share from (for example, an event or gift fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. I’ll be searching the reblogs to find people to send asks to!
If you’re reading this, you’re invited!
If you see someone posting a WIP Wednesday Game snippet, send them an ask! Make them write.

snippet from "a fake cryptid and a real romantic":
Clark hears a sudden rush of air and a thrumming, not-quite-human heartbeat, and is therefore unsurprised when Superboy pops up over the side of the Metropolis rooftop he’s sitting on and grins up at him. The kid always seems to be in a good mood, but is clearly in an even better one than usual.
“Guess what?!” Superboy greets gleefully, pushing himself up on the edge.
“What?” Clark asks, smiling wryly at him. The kid just gets so enthusiastic so easily. It’s kind of funny, to be honest.
“I got a date!” Superboy says delightedly, plopping into a seat beside him and kicking his legs excitedly as he does. “Robin said I could go hunting with him in Gotham this weekend!”
“You’re going to hang out, you mean,” Clark corrects kindly, since Superboy still has a notably skewed education and concept of correct terminology and probably calling working with another vigilante a “date” without knowing what that actually means isn’t going to end well for the kid in the long run. Especially since Robin isn’t actually an aspect of Gotham like the Batman is and would definitely be confused by it.
Admittedly, the Batman gets confused by some very straightforward things sometimes, but still.
“‘Hang out’,” Superboy repeats, cocking his head with a slightly puzzled expression that almost immediately clears into another excited grin. “That, yeah! I caught Catwoman breaking into some fancy cat exhibit in Gotham and dropped her off for him, and he was into it! And I gave him a diamond and he liked that too!”
“A . . . diamond?” Clark blinks. He really hopes Catwoman didn’t manage to be that bad of an influence on the kid in one meeting, but he wouldn’t put it past her. Superboy’s impressionable and Catwoman is . . . well, Catwoman. “Uh–where’d you get that?”
“I made it!” Superboy says proudly, puffing himself up as he mimes the act of crushing something in his fists.
. . . alright then, Clark thinks, mildly bewildered. He has no idea why Superboy would make a diamond, much less give it to Robin, but the kid gets weird ideas into his head sometimes and he supposes it would’ve been good practice for controlling his strength to very specific pressures, so he’s not going to say anything about it.
“Did you?” he says, figuring he should keep the conversation going. Superboy’s an odd kid, but he’s eager and has a good heart and always soaks up attention like a sponge, so Clark always tries to talk to the kid at least a little whenever the other finds him.
“I figured Robin’d like it,” Superboy says reasonably, kicking his feet again. “Birds like shiny stuff, and he’s kinda a bird, right?”
Clark is going to assume that Tim Drake more appreciated the expensive gemstone than the “shiny stuff”, assuming a teenage boy would even care about anything like that anyway, but he doesn’t want to rain on Superboy’s parade. Honestly, he’s just glad the kid’s finally trying to make a friend or two in the community who isn’t wearing an “S”. It never hurts to have a little backup on call–or to have a friend who understands the life around, either.
He’s not actually certain what the Batman’s latest Robin’s policy on maintaining his secret identity among the larger hero community is–even Dick still typically presents himself as a city splinter, just of Bludhaven instead of Gotham now–but even if he keeps passing for a cryptid with Superboy for a little while longer, it’s not like Superboy’s had a normal life experience. He’s not going to be bothered that he can’t talk about girls and homework with his new friend first thing.
Clark vaguely dreads the possibility of Superboy eventually deciding to come to him to talk about girls, because he has absolutely no idea how to talk to anyone about girls, much less an impressionable teenager who’s guaranteed to hang on his every word for the whole conversation and take everything he says as gospel while also misunderstanding at least half of it, judging by most of their previous conversations. He hasn’t even been able to figure out how to give the kid the Kryptonian version of the talk, though, much less if it’s actually applicable to him. Relationship issues and dating are a whole other kettle of fish.
Well, with any luck Superboy will stay too young for that kind of thing for a little while longer, Clark hopes halfheartedly. Just–please?

Perfect Marriage Revenge ep 5
This continues to be such fun! I love that we see YJ worry for DG - she freaked out so hard in the hospital. And held on to him, too. She may not realize she has feelings but she does.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which is just as well since the man is a mess. He may hide it better than she does, but he sees a psychiatrist on the reg, has panic attacks, is around a gaslighter a lot and clearly was also reborn after the car crash.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I do love how straightforward he is with her. He is completely correct she can't both be distant and close at the same time. She either cares or she doesn't.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course she freaks at this very blunt pointing out. She is understandably so scarred about relationships and terrified to commit.
Tumblr media
Excuses excuses :P
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was DELICIOUS!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My fave scene tho was this one, where she's in shock after finding out the truth about her background and he just kneels at her feet washing the blood off. It's catering just to meeeeee!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that he doesn't say a word, just takes care of her.
I mean, here he is tucking her in:
Tumblr media
And staying with her all night, silent but just there as if to show she's not alone, patting her on her shoulder - it is such a parallel as to how she comforted him when he slept in the living room and had that nightmare. Their actions mirror.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love this drama. It's bringing me telenovela goodness but in a shorter, more easily followable package.

airport crush; c. yj
!non idol au!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• pairing: yeonjun x female reader
• summary: you see a guy in the airport waiting for his flight and you make it a mission to get his number before he gets on board, embarrassing yourself in the process.
• warning: swearing & yeonjun teasing
Tumblr media
you’ve had quite the morning, waking up at 6am for your 11am flight. you’re still groggy, iced coffee in hand with your suitcase in the other.
nothing can make this morning better— that’s until you see a guy waiting for his flight alone, sitting on an empty row of seats.
your eyes basically pop out of your eye sockets at the sight, stopping dead in your tracks.
though you can’t see his appearance clearly, you can tell the guy’s tall by the way his legs are stretched out infront of him, leaning against the chair with his phone in hand.
he’s wearing a red zip up, layered on top of a black shirt paired with grey sweats that seem to appeal to you in a way it never had.
he seems preoccupied with grey headphones over his ears— but that doesn’t matter to you, not at all.
you hug your iced drink and grab your phone, immediately calling your sister who you had just said goodbye to for your vacation.
she picks up almost instantly, maybe worried that something had gone wrong only to hear you fangirl over some stranger.
“bro i’m at the airport and there’s this fine ass guy. should i talk to him?.. i want him so bad. brooo i want him so bad oh my gosh..” you start to ramble, tearing your gaze away to stare at your shoes.
“y/n.. seriously?..” you hear her sigh, “rate this guy out of a 10.”
“bro he’s a fucking 11. he’s so fine bruh oh my gosh.. he’s got fine ass headphones on..” you bite on your nails, giggling— practically flushing red over this stranger.
“honestly if he’s that fine.. get his number..”
“how?” you pout.
“just ask him what he’s listening to. then pretend you like the artist and ask for his number.”
“no that’s too straightforward.”
“tell him he’s cute.”
“no that’s worse!”
“figure it out. BYE!”
you stare dumbfounded, angrily texting your sister curses before you turn your phone off, shoving it into your pocket.
without a plan, you started to walk towards him, deciding you’d just go with the flow spontaneously.
nervously, you sat next to him, tapping on his shoulder immediately so you wouldn’t look like a weirdo sitting beside a stranger when there were many empty seats nearby.
he turned to you, confused but still taking his headphones off, letting it hug his neck, “yes?..”
now infront of him— now that you could see his face. all you could feel was regret.
he was much finer than you thought he’d be..
you blinked, caught off guard, feeling your heart thumping out of your chest, “h..hi?..”
you mentally cursed at your own words— trying to calm yourself down by telling yourself you didn’t expect him to be so hot— or his voice to be so attractive.
unfortunately, his presence alone was intense and intimidating, already having you look more nervous than you had ever imagined you could be.
“hi?..” he tilted his head to the side.
“.. how’s your day?..”
fuck.
fuck..
“… good?…” he blinked, even more confused than he had already projected.
“.. that’s good.”
“thank you..” he let out an airy laugh at your nervousness, definitely helping to sooth you just a little bit.
you sighed, shoulders slumping, “honestly.. i just wanted to get your number..” you admitted honestly, looking away to try and feel a little less intimidated.
“oh. sorry, i have a girlfriend. we’re actually getting married. she’s just in the washroom right now.”
your stomach dropped and your world practically crumbled in embarrassment. you felt your cheeks get even redder than before, eyes widening as you snapped your head at him in shock, “i’m so sorry! i didn’t know!”
you slapped your hand over your mouth, fully processing the information.
your stomach churned in raw embarrassment, standing up immediately to try and scramble away but he stopped your dead in your tracks, grabbing your wrist.
“im just joking!” he laughed at your reaction, even more when you slowly turned your head to look at him, jaw dropped to the floor.
now you were even more embarrassed— and even more desperate to leave, “my flights leaving in 2 minutes!” you lied in distress, pulling your hand away from his grasp to dash away.
and as you were halfway out of the lounge area, you stopped dead in your tracks once again— realizing your had left your suitcase behind.
you cursed, biting on your lip and shutting your eyes close in hopes that this would just be a dream.
snapping you out of the war going on in your head was the stranger, tapping on your shoulder to get your attention.
you slowly turned around, smiling awkwardly at him, “silly me! haha..” you grabbed your suitcase that was beside him, rolling it towards yourself.
he laughed, “don’t be so embarrassed. it’s all good.”
you basically melted seeing and hearing him laugh, mesmerized, you embarrassed yourself further more by just.. staring at him.
“stop staring. it’s making me shy.” he joked, a playful grin plastered on his face.
you somehow got even more embarrassed, now 100% sure your face was a crimson red with how warm you felt.
“can i have your number?” he smiled.
could this fine man really want your number? even though you were looking stupid with how red you were?..
nonetheless, you mumbled out a small, “yes..”
though all that embarrassment and regret floated away when you had made it to your lounge, seeing a notification from the stranger.
“that was cute lol”

[Book Rec + Reaction/Thoughts] The Lantern and the Night Moths 灯与夜蛾 by Yilin Wang
An anthology of translated poems by five modern or contemporary poets and accompanying essays by the translator, @yilinwriter.
You can find the pronunciation guide and list of corrections here!
The cover art, a beautiful expression of the tone of this collection, is by Taiwanese artist Ciaoyin (check out her gorgeous insta!). I'm looking forward to the arrival of the physical book as my tab absolutely does not do it justice xD
Tumblr media
Anyway! The official release date is 02 April 2024 though there have been some very thoughtful reviews by early readers already. Here, here, here and here.
(It was an ARC that I received too… though in the time it took to put this together, the ebooks have already gone out to readers >.< typical snail yj!)
Instead, I’ll tell you who I think would be interested in this book or might benefit from reading it, then share things that are cool about it from the perspective of a bilingual hobbyist translator + lover of ancient poetry and lyrics.
Who should read it?
If annotations, translator’s notes and reflections spark joy for you...
If you’ve ever read poetry translations and been intensely curious about what goes on under the hood...
If you’re a translator yourself wanting to hear another voice...
Definitely check this out!
Also if you’re CN+EN bilingual and have ever read something in English that references Chinese terms and concepts etc. except ONLY in English, pinyin or wade-giles and been utterly frustrated by the ensuing guessing game (like me) Fear Not.
That will not be a problem here.
I really appreciate how Chinese words are used naturally where needed for concepts and quotes - they are also translated for those who can't read Chinese so no one is left out. It made this book of and about translation (and more) super comfortable to read! The solution is so simple, so direct, so rarely used that I am amused.
Oh, but do note that the Chinese characters are in simplified though!
The poems are organised by their writers who are listed here by order of birth year, not appearance in the book:
秋瑾 (Qiu Jin, 1875 to 1907)
废名 (Fei Ming. 1901 to 1967)
戴望舒 (Dai Wangshu, 1905 to 1950)
小西 (Xiao Xi, 1974 to _)
张巧慧 (Zhang Qiaohui, 1978 to _)
Altogether, that covers nearly the last 150 years up to now. I’ve never really been into poetry by poets in such relatively recent times, in part because I’d been holding on to this stereotype of them spurning Classical Chinese and ancient poetry in the first half of the 20th century (not entirely true, as I came to realise xD). It made sense and was understandable, but felt sad.
Yet am I the target audience for this book?
Very much so.
In ways I didn’t think I would be too! It was so much fun to experience this both as a reader and a translator that I thought I’d share it here, where we are appreciating Chinese poetry together.
If you didn’t think you’d enjoy modern Chinese poetry, hey, give it a chance!
Oh yeah - on the way home a while back, I was talking to a friend about translation and was surprised to hear that her impression was that it ought to be a straightforward process. Like isn’t it a 1:1 conversion? At some point, ‘what’s the difference between something google translate might return, and how you would say it?’ was asked, and oh that was a delightful question to my ears! I showed her one of my comparison sheets where an original text is laid out alongside multiple translations line-by-line, briefly explaining some common and unique choices and how the people who had translated those probably arrived at the various interpretations. She was pretty amazed to see that the answer to her question was: very different. Hey, it’s a complicated process!
But there’s only so much one can explain in the space of a train ride. That’s why The Lantern and the Night Moths is a book I would also rec to someone like this friend of mine - open minded and curious but never having the chance to think about or encounter the craft of translation.
Like Yilin says, ‘the meaning of a word cannot be fully expressed in one single translation, nor through a series of translation attempts’. She then explains why with great attention to detail and some solid examples from one of the poems with word choices loaded with subtle connotations :D
What's interesting about it?
Okay, for one, Yilin shared a playlist of music that she listened to while working on this book. Here is the link to the spotify one and the one on youtube. Check them out! They sure put me in the mood to read xD (favs: 别知己, 小神仙 & 去有風的地方) Afterwards, this made so much sense like - ah! an audio moodboard.
She's also putting together these adorable mini profiles of each poet along with a cmedia and tea rec to match their vibes. Go see them on her instagram xD
Now to business...
structure
What really helped keep the reader’s focus was the way each section is organized, how the poems and accompanying essay were presented and finally the short bio of each person right at the end.
The poets are first introduced through five or six of their poems, works well suited to this purpose. Their voices, distinct through the vision, ambition and emotion of their words, are brought across by Yilin’s sensitive, thoughtful and poetic translations into English. These translations were also creative and transformative in a way that made so much sense after reading one of her reflections on the process, how she ‘must guide it with gentle hands to ensure its spirit is kept alive and intact during this transformative, and often excruciating process’. A rebirth into another language!
Personally, I’ve come to think of reading translations as looking at a work through another’s eyes. So it’s delightful when the translator’s presence is discernible, and even more so when the reader is given insight into their intention and process via commentary.
Yilin’s essays coupled with the poets’ bios at the end provide a means to go back and appreciate their works in context of their circumstance and inspirations. Similarly, to read the translations with a changed perspective.
I don’t know how much of a thing this is with translated poetry anthologies in English - can count the number I’ve read with both hands lol, and they’re all of the ancient chinese poetry variety - but I really like this design.
drawing on poets who came before them
Remember how we’re always recognizing traces of inspiration from ancient works (to them) in poetry of the various dynasties? 李商隐 Li Shangyin of Tang for example, was influenced by 楚辞 Verses of Chu and folklore and mythology such as that in 山海经 Classic of Mountains and Seas, 李白 Li Bai frequently references poets and history of the 魏晋 Wei-Jin era, and 王维 Wang Wei was clearly familiar with Buddhist scriptures which were translations themselves!
Just like the late Táng poets whom he praised for boldly deviating from the voices before them, Fei Ming used popular references and tropey shorthands ‘in contexts utterly different from the original, reimagining them anew’. Dai Wangshu, too, ‘boldly re-envisioned what modern poetry could look like by revisiting the classics’. In fact, in his very relatable ‘To Answer the Visitor with Classical Imagery’, I see Li Bai’s 春夜宴桃李园序, Qu Yuan’s 离骚 and lots of - as the title says - classical imagery, as if pulling out painting after painting to describe a feeling.
And Dai Wangshu’s faith in the translatability of poetry, that ‘poetry isn’t what is lost in translation, but rather, what survives it’ reminds me of what a friend, @xiakeponz, said that I agree with so much - because readers can ‘experience something in their own individual way through (your) shared humanity rather than language alone’.
poetic tradition and beyond
Between the lines of contemporary poets Zhang Qiaohui and Xiao Xi, I can really see the charm of plain vernacular, how it can be beautiful, incisive and clever in turns. Even as it seems to have moved further than ever from the structure and language of literary Chinese, the themes that inspired common motifs remain a part of life. Mother and divinity, homesickness, finding oneself, tributes to admirable spirits and the issues that trouble society - just in a new form and with different ways of expression.
Qiu Jin
So many FEELINGS about what Qiu Jin was doing - ‘I awaken the spirits of women, hundreds of flowers, abloom’. I would love if she could see the world now. So many things for her to rouse and fight against, but at the same time just as many to be proud of. I am so in awe of her, but now hearing her loneliness and struggle there is a soft spot in my heart for those too.
conclusion
So so so…
Qiu Jin’s admirable fire and lonely resolve. Zhang Qiaohui’s precious ability to express beauty in the mundane and in pain. Fei Ming’s utter delight! He is having so much fun and when* I’m vibing, I feel it too. Xiao Xi’s critical eye and keen observation of the world. Dai Wangshu’s whimsical charm and passion for translation. Finally, Yilin Wang, the connecting thread wound through them all, bringing them together so that we may be acquainted.
*Reading his poetry is like unwrapping a seamless, many layered present. A gift that keeps giving - if only you have a key 😅 Fortunately, Yilin has halved our struggle 🤣
I’ve had such a great time with them all. And if you come, I hope you will too!

🎀 No. 5: Close To Me 🎀
give me a character and i'll write some headcanons on what a first date with them would be like a/n: oh this is a good one, thank you for letting me be cute with him 💚 1k milestone info! 🔞minors dni🔞 • kofi • tag: finnie1k
Tumblr media
this soft bag of bones is FINALLY getting to put all of his planning and daydreaming to use
so you better believe it's going to be the best and most organised first date ever
first of all, he's planned it during the day, when most people are at work (crowds scare him) and kids are at school (children scare him and have been known to beat him senseless for his villainy)
and both of them were likely to be at the various places you're going today, first of which is, dun-da-da-dun
the arcade!
gives him a chance to show off how using his intellect, even the physical games can be beaten
he'll hold your hand the whole way round, share a slushie with two straws, and he'll have enough tickets by the end to win you whatever you want from the prize wall
yeah, that's right baby, anything you want, he's got game
then after that, the cinema to see a movie that's cute and fun
probably something animated, NOT a superhero movie under any circumstances
he'll maybe even choose something dramatic or romantic, or even a horror
whatever he chooses, it's something he's researched profusely to make sure he won't cry or jump or laugh too hard at
the last thing he wants is to embarrass himself in front of you
especially because the movie theatre is part of his plan for physical contact
he booked the back seats specifically
yeah he'll tell you it's for the acoustics or for the privacy of not being disturbed by noisy eaters
but it's very obvious what the plan was when he does the old "yawn-and-stretch" routine, putting his arm around you and pulling you in
and yet he'll still freak out if you snuggle up to him or put your hand on him anywhere
such a dork
for food, he's picked somewhere that serves standard meals
nothing too fancy or experimental
he likes straightforward options and not too many of them, otherwise he gets confused and stressed
he likes to order for you, but not in a "i'll choose what you have" way, more of a "tell him what you want and he'll be a very brave boy and try not to stutter when he asks the wait staff for it" kind of way
and please, let him feed you dessert with a spoon, he's been looking forward to it all day
he'll insist you walk home, or if you're too tired, take a cab and then walk you to your door
he won't push for a kiss, you'll have to make that move
but once he has his lips on yours, he'll find it hard to let go
maybe, if he's feeling brave enough, a hand at the back of your head, or on your waist
just so you know he's definitely into this
which you could tell by the little mewling noises and the sweat that has formed on his forehead and palms when he pulls away

DPXDC Prompt №5
Well
Imagine that Danny and Klarion are a couple, and what a mess it could be. And what would be the reaction of the League? God, this idea just occupied my brain.
JL has a problem that neither they, nor JLD, nor YJ can handle. They decide to use their heavy artillery - Phantom. When Danny arrives he is met by a bunch of panicked superheroes who think the world is about to end. They tell him about the problem, for example, huge monsters that cannot be damaged. Danny realizes that he has already heard something similar. After a while, he remembers.
"Hey, do these monsters have some kind of seal or symbol on their side? For example, K with a dot?"
The league doesn't understand what this is about at all, but they say, yes, there is.
"Oh, I've faced them before, but I can't handle it alone. But I know who can help." Danny sits down on a chair, takes out his phone and starts typing. It takes a long time to type.
Half an hour later, everyone was on edge, and the Phantom didn't stop typing.
Superman couldn't stand it first: "Phantom, we appreciate your help, but please specify who we are waiting for." The boyscout is polite as always. The Batman clan looks at each other uneasily.
"My boyfriend. By the way, he's on his way," the Phantom answers nonchalantly, without looking up from the phone and continuing to type.
The League participants are close to a breakdown: not only is the threat hanging over the States, which they are not able to cope with, but the Phantom has added from above. Phantom, is an incredibly strong player by himself, their heavy artillery, the king of the fucking Endless Realms, dates someone SO powerful that this someone can help him stop a potential threat to the country.
Then something in the air changes. Magic users and the League look at Danny, who finally puts the phone in his pocket. He frowns irritably and crosses his arms over his chest.
"Finally," he muttered discontentedly and gets up.
A black-and-red portal appears in the room, from which an irritated Klarion exits. Exactly the one who was least expected to see. YJ are already ready to take up arms, but the Phantom is ahead of them.
"Did you see how much time has passed? You're late." Danny comes closer, still unhappy.
"I couldn't teleport out of YOUR fucking castle. You open portals yourself every day, why ban them in the castle at all?" Klarion goes to meet Danny. "I got lost in the corridors six times. SIX. I am 16 billion years old, I have existed since the beginning of the universe, and I could not get out of the castle!" the distance between them was rapidly shrinking until they were standing close.
In any other situation, many would have laughed at this, but not in this one. Everyone in the room felt the situation escalate. They saw the Phantom in anger, they saw the Klarion in anger, but they never saw them together, let alone together and in anger.
"So you think it's my fault?!" The windows began to be covered with frost, and circles began to appear on the coffee in the Green Arrow mug. The jar with the handles began to bounce, everyone in the room began to feel the force of their anger.
"This is your castle, your ban. Whose fault do you think it is that I'm late?" Klarion's voice dropped. The Phantom looked dumbfounded. "What… How do you even..." Phantom's incipient tirade was interrupted by Klarion's kiss. He pressed his lips to the Phantom's lips, closing his eyes. He ran one hand through the ghost's hair, and the other pulled the Phantom closer, holding on to his waist.
The Phantom relaxed into the kiss, wrapping his arms around the chaos lord's shoulders. Teekl stepped onto Phantom's shoulders, settling comfortably on them.
"Ahem-ahem" someone coughed tactfully
The Phantom moved a little away from Klarion, turning sideways to the League.
"Phantom, we understand your situation, however, you must remember the original purpose of our meeting." Batman is as straightforward as ever.
"Oh, right, sorry, guys," muttered the Phantom, turning in arms, but looking into the eyes of Klarion. "Do you remember the creatures we imprisoned in the time of Egypt?"
"Mmm, before or after Cleopatra?"
"After"
"Ugh, those slimy things?"
"Yes, and these slimy things are now taking over the east coast. Why did you put your stamp on them at all?” Phantom asked, leaning back into the embrace.
"I was thinking of leaving them for a rainy day," Klarion replied, stroking Teekl, still sitting on someone else's shoulders. "They had potential. Before they went mad with anger and started consuming each other."
"Ugh, okay," the Phantom grumbled, twisting out of the embrace completely. "Let's go show class"
Having created the portal, the Phantom invited Klarion to go first, gallantly bending over and bending his arm behind his back. "After you"
Klarion grunted, took the Teekl and disappeared into his own portal. Phantom rolled his eyes. "Eccentric"
JL remained in stunned silence, watching the interaction of the two creatures and asking a lot of questions. How long have these two known each other? What is the real age of the Phantom, if it existed before Cleopatra? If the Phantom knows that Klarion is the lord of chaos, does that mean that the Phantom may be involved in Klarion's affairs?
Just a minute after the two creatures leave, JL watches as the two subdue one monster after another. In just ten minutes two of which they kissed Phantom and Klarion defeat all the creatures. Klarion reads a spell, the Phantom opens a huge purple portal, where Klarion sends the bodies of monsters with a spell. When the creatures' bodies have disappeared, the Phantom creates another portal in which they disappear.
JL has literally a few seconds before they feel the familiar chill.
"I'm sorry it took so long. Last time we did it faster," the Phantom's voice rang out at the end of the hall.
Turning around, the heroes saw Klarion supporting Phantom by the elbow. The ghost looked paler than usual, but overall not bad. On the Phantom's cloak was a black slime left over from monsters, which he looked at with undisguised disgust.
"Phe, I thought I didn't get dirty"
"I told you not to kick them, but when you listened to me," Klarion rolled his eyes”
"Hey, ghosts don't attack Amity anymore, it's nice to remember the past sometimes"
"You're a member of the Justice League. Isn't that enough?"
"It's not the same. Okay, guys," The Phantom looked at the League again, "I'm damn tired and I'll answer your questions another time. You've already ruined our movie night. Waiting is the least price you will pay for it. See you soon!"
They were swallowed up by the Klarion’s portal, leaving the League confused and shocked. The first, oddly enough, Constantine came to himself.
"I need a drink"
Klarion and Danny: * kissing while monsters are raging in the background*
Literally the entire Justice League:

Y'know, this answer deserves its own post. @tardigradetheking
They story they're telling seems pretty obvious to me:
Mickey Mxyzptlk, an entitled manbaby comic book fan who hates modern continuity and wishes things would go back to the way they were when he was a kid, traps (what he considers to be) the "real" Young Justice (only the boys, no girls allowed) in his idea of what their original adventures were like. Cassie, being ignored by the sexist twat, winds up being his undoing as she works to free her friends from the outside with the help of the rest of the original team.
That's the elevator pitch, the logline. I say the rest of the old team because I suspect Greta would have also been involved, had the Stargirl Spring Break Special not already set her up as being slated for the Lost Children. The Devil, of course, is in the details:
Mickey's idea of the boys' adventures are heavily skewed by his own biases which he, like the comic book bros on Reddit and Twitter, insist were part of those stories even when they weren't. Hence the exaggerated sexism, racism and homophobia.
He's also trying to reset the YJ boys back to who they were specifically in the early issues of Young Justice, ignoring all the growth and change -- both positive and negative -- that's happened to them since. Again, reflecting attitudes from entitled fans on social media, including here on Tumblr -- look at how many people care more about Cassie's fucking hair than her personality or experiences.
Kon slips into this illusion more easily than the others because he's adrift in the current timeline, without a place for himself -- his whole upcoming miniseries is already set to be about him figuring that out, but for now he's lost, and the future he always expected to be waiting for him -- being Superman -- has been given to someone else. Of course he wants to stay in the time when he never had to grow up and the future was full of possibilities. The more he lets himself give in, the more his mind slips into that kinda asshole bro sentiment -- which, let's face it, he had more than a trace of in the 90s.
Bart, meanwhile, is naturally resistant to this sort of thing partially because of his particular power set and partially because, despite all he's gone through, he's ultimately still the guy who goes with the flow, rolls with the punches, and accepts things the way they are. Whereas Tim is somewhat susceptible to slipping back into when things were easier, when he could just be Robin and hang out with his friends and never had to bury any of them, but gets jarred out of it when the reality tries to forcibly reset the recent changes that have made him happiest.
These differing attitudes result in conflict and naturally dredge up a bunch of drama related to those past changes that they haven't talked about. Cassie's having similar encounters with Cissie because they're using the fact that Cissie is no longer a superhero as a reflection of Cassie and the boys all being on the wrong pages with one another. Which they are, because they're literally not on the same page anymore -- it's been ages since their canon selves have truly shared experiences, they've all been off doing their own things with their respective "families," and they no longer know where the others are coming from. But with each conflict, they're baring... well, conflict, things that have gone unspoken between them. Now that those things are spoken, they can be resolved.
It's not a perfect story. The art is definitely a little hit or miss (pro tip: blame the artist and the editor for not knowing which Bedlam to cameo, not the writer), the pacing feels a bit rushed and (speaking of Bedlam) the whole story would've been stronger if they used him as the villain instead of a new character no one's ever heard of. But that last part is kinda par for the course at DC right now.
Otherwise, the story's pretty straightforward. It's meta, it's criticism, and they're pretty bold to critique their fandom so blatantly, but there's nothing confusing about it.

okay for the 4 people who care about this crossover, here's the yj muses thrown into a tvdu world. this will probably also serve as the generic supernatural verse (well, supernatural beyond whatever woo woo shit is going on in canon).
lottie matthews - french quarter witch whose greatest strength/power lies in the gift of prophecy and visions. these are rarely straightforward or easy to interpret and she's gotten it wrong more than she's gotten it right. however, she thinks they were given to her for a reason and believes in trying to use it to help others, even if she stumbles a bit along the way.
van palmer - untriggered werewolf who was attacked by another pack when she was 17, which left her with facial scars and a deep, yet irrational fear of her own wolf. she knows it's likely only a matter of time before she triggers the curse and is trying to grapple with the reality that she can never escape the thing she fears most.
taissa turner - vampire who was turned in the 60s, at the height of the civil rights era. taissa is old enough to understand the patterns of history repeating itself, but still young enough that she is caught in her own hubris of trying to enjoy all the perks of immortality without any of the consequences.
shauna shipman - werewolf who triggered her curse at 18 and never looked back at the sleepy suburban life she left behind. the wolf brought a lot of clarity to shauna, who never understood where the depths of her temper and rage would stem from, and she finds herself discovering a new way of life by embracing the wolf.
natalie scatorccio - vampire turned in 1996 when a night of partying turned into an overdose with vampire blood in her system. nat is still very young when it comes to being a vampire, and she has a tendency to overindulge in feeding. not to the level of a ripper status, but enough that she can cause a few heads to turn if she's not careful about covering her tracks.

First appearances of characters set up what the narrative needs the audience to understand or believe about that person. With that in mind, let's look at the first lines spoken by the YJ kids.
Tim: Batman #436
"Won...wonner...wonnerful."
Tumblr media
This is a flashback to a very young Tim. The first time we hear from him in the story's present is in #440.
"He [Batman] was hurt, but that didn't stop him. Nothing stops him. So much for Bruce Wayne. Now I can start on Dick Grayson."
Tumblr media
Both of these first lines have a commonality: Tim is commenting with admiration about somebody else. His feelings and goals are not relevant; he is here to observe and, from a distance, support. This places him in a particular role from the start. His words in #440 aren't even spoken aloud, which establishes his contemplative nature. His very first words not only foreshadow his role as the Boy Wonder but also tie him to Dick, which was important for the creators of his character, who wanted the new Robin to maintain a connection to the original Robin to make him more acceptable to the audience. And finally we learn that he, this mysterious unseen figure, somehow knows Batman's and Nightwing's secret identities, which is worrisome!
Kon: Adventures of Superman 1987 #500
"Yeah. Thanks."
Tumblr media
The first glimpse we get of Kon's face is when the Newsboy Legion have helped him escape Cadmus. He's initially in shadow so that the subsequent full-page reveal of him will have more dramatic impact. And his first words don't seem like much. But it's significant that the first thing he says is to thank the boys (fellow clones!) who helped him. This is the first kindness anyone has shown him, and it has had an impact. His words are lowkey and simple, but sincere.
His next words, however, are to angrily object to being called Superboy, and this is meant to be our lasting first impression of him. But still, before the dramatic reveal comes a quiet expression of gratitude. There's more to him than his showboating persona lets on.
Bart: The Flash 1987 #93
"What...what'd you do that for?"
Tumblr media
Bart actually is introduced in #92 but is absent or silent throughout, although he is discussed extensively. He speaks for the first time after Wally, to stop him from attacking him as he's been doing from the moment they met, hits him. Bart's utter confusion that a man whom he's been beating up would hit back establishes him as out of touch with reality after his years in VR, where his actions never had consequences. He's not used to normal human interactions or pain, and he has no idea how to handle it. Before Wally can answer, Bart runs off again. The impression we get is that he's aggressive, out of control, and not big on empathy--which isn't a great start. This isn't the impression that will linger with the audience, as we get to see Bart's POV later, but it will lastingly affect how Wally gets along with him.
Cassie: Wonder Woman 1987 #105
"But that's what you always say! And it's not fair! I get good grades! I don't hang out at the mall all the time..."
Tumblr media
Cassie is introduced to us having a very typical teenage argument with her mother. It's a pretty straightforward set-up for her as irresponsible and petulant, in contrast to where her character is going as she becomes a hero and, later, an effective leader. Early Cassie, though, is a lot like early Bart, minus the explanation of a VR upbringing.
Cissie: Impulse #28
"Run, you guys! Leave the big bully to--Arrowette!"
Tumblr media
Fittingly, Cissie makes the most dramatic entrance of any of these characters. This is a performance, coached by her mom, with an attention-grabbing pageant-esque costume and an opening line probably already written for her. Here, she is Arrowette first and foremost, with no hint of who she is beneath the role her mother has thrust upon her. This gives us the impression we need of her situation. She's not like Impulse; she's fighting crime for glory and recognition.
Secret: Young Justice: The Secret #1
"Please! You've got to let me go! --Or at least listen to what I have to say...I don't know what they've told you, but I'd bet it's not the truth! Please, I--"
Tumblr media
It is extremely fitting that Greta's first words are an impassioned plea to be heard and believed. This sets up her entire arc. She wants to be listened to, but when circumstances lead her to stop opening up to her friends, things go downhill. Here, her courage to speak to the boys who have been unknowingly commissioned to help destroy her will be what saves her life and allows her to make friends for the first time since her death.
And I'm going to include Thad (even though he's obviously not YJ) because Bart's here and it's only fair: Impulse #50
"hmm...play Impulse and 'Family' review."
Tumblr media
Thad delights in showy entrances. In #51, he'll get a full-page reveal as maniacally-grinning supervillain Inertia, but we first see him as a mysterious shadowy figure in a contemplative mood as he conducts some research. It would have been very easy to set him up from the start as evil, but instead the narrative shows us someone who is a thinker, a learner--and that's perhaps a more authentic impression of who Thad is at the core than anything else.
As with Kon, the contrast between his first words and the drama of his full-page reveal establishes tension between his public and private personas.

I once read a fic where Jason spent an entire week torturing Tim and was forgiven for it and I was like 1: Jason would never do that and 2: Canon Tim would have beat the shit out of Jason if he did that because Canon Tim is a menace 😂
1. Canon Jason would never do that: I agree. I think people completely misunderstand the Titans Tower scene - thepandaredd over on TikTok made a video about it relatively recently that I agree with. He didn't fight Tim cause he was angry with Tim, he fought Tim because he was angry with Bruce. Jason doesn't hurt kids! It's just, one of the ways he felt betrayed when he came back and nothing had changed was that he thought after his death there would be no more Robin. He was trying to teach Bruce a lesson and there's no need to actively torture Tim in order to do that, let alone for a full week. I think fics that want to turn the Titans Tower scene into a Tim & Jason bonding scene (IN THE PLATONIC/FAMILIAL SENSE) should instead go the route of Jason deciding to protecting Tim from Bruce, that's more in character to me.
2. Canon Tim would've beat the shit out of Jason because he's a Menace: eh? I agree that Tim is a Menace don't get me wrong, but there's a reason he loses so badly to Jason in the Tower, and it's because he's smaller, weaker, and not as good of a fighter as Jason is. This is fine! It's built into his character! He's the "smart Robin" and was always intended to give more support on the detective side of things. Not to say that he wouldn't get his revenge on Jason, because he's absolutely capable of that. Just that it would be something a lot less straightforward than beating Jason up, and probably a lot more unhinged, too. I'm picturing something tech based, calling in YJ to help mess with him, or ruining his street cred in some way. I don't know, I'm not nearly as much of a Menace as Tim is. Love that boy tho

disappointed missing fearless
Cut for weird alien biology kinky porn but mostly just for length. Also, I don't know if there's an actual established ship name for Slobo/Kon but this is technically from a YJ polyam fic either way, so idk if it actually matters right now, hah.
Pretty sure I posted at least some of this excerpt before, but this SHOULD be the extended edition.
"The Boy Wonder just had to be our token straight," Kon grumbles, folding his arms. Which is whatever, fine, preferences are preferences and the dude's still his friend and he would still very literally die either for him or on his say-so, but is the idea of letting Kon go down on him every now and then and maybe also making out a little somewhere in there really that unappealing? Like, seriously?
Bats are the freaking worst.
"What's it matter?" Slobo asks, wrinkling his nose at him.
"I mean, it doesn't matter-matter," Kon says with an exasperated sigh. "But also I just want to finally score some dick for once, man, and I still can't actually keep up with Bart's and Suzie only has one when she's in the right mood and Rob's isn't even into me, and I don't wanna go knock over a civilian for it, that's just–"
"And that'd be all the options for dick currently available to your picky ass, yeah," Slobo cuts in dryly, leaning in towards him with a pointed look. Kon turns red.
"Actually I kinda figured you were straight too," he says, glancing sidelong at the guy. "And very solidly monogamous, given all the time that you and Anita spend ignoring the rest of us in favor of rooms with doors that lock."
"We ain't monogamous, she just don't like gettin' interrupted when she's in the mood. Though yeah, you're right about the straight thing," Slobo agrees with a dismissive shrug. "But also, look, I'm Czarnian. Which literally none of you bastiches are. And gonna be frank here, you and Anita got a lot more biological similarities to each other than Anita and a Czarnian chick would, so at this point I don't really give a shit what kind of hole I'm fraggin' so long as whoever it belongs to's got somethin' interestin' to say about the process."
"Huh," Kon says, frowning to himself. "That literally never occurred to me as a thing that might be a thing, actually."
"I mean, what, are you attracted to Branx and Bolovax Vikians and Karnans and Martians?" Slobo snorts dubiously. "Or frell, even Czarnians?"
"Well, just the ones I like, but yeah," Kon says, a little puzzled by the question. They're all sentient species with free will and also he would absolutely let that one very specific Green Lantern just fucking step on him whenever the guy felt like it, so yeah, why wouldn't he be attracted to them? And . . . Kilowog, he's pretty sure said Green Lantern's name is? Kilowog's built like what a brick house wishes it could grow up and be. So Kon would definitely let him step on him. "Is that like . . . weird or something?"
"Galactically speakin', yeah," Slobo says wryly. "Though I guess you're already a hybrid so I probably shoulda expected you to be less discriminatin' than the rest of the universe tends to."
"So what, are you calling me a slut?" Kon snorts. "Like on a genetic level?"
"Depends how many people you've screwed, galactically speakin'," Slobo says.
"Not enough," Kon replies frankly.
"Then yeah, pretty sure you're a slut," Slobo says with another shrug. "Especially if you miss dick bad enough to get in a snit on the couch over it."
". . . I mean, okay, I haven't actually socialized with another dude's dick before," Kon admits grudgingly, making a face. "Unless watching gay porn counts, and to be honest I usually get bored if there's only one style of genitals onscreen so I don't do much of that. Just I just finally figured out that I fucking want dick and my options for getting it are frustratingly limited right now."
"Then wanna actually socialize with mine?" Slobo suggests, which is an approach that Kon appreciates the straightforwardness of. "Seein' as it don't belong to a picky control freak or a hyperactive speedster or someone with a real fraggin' inconvenient tendency to turn intangible when they come."
"Suzie does that?" Kon asks.
"Accordin' to Anita," Slobo replies with a shrug. "And since I trust her with my literal fraggin' life at this point, I'm assumin' this ain't the thing she's picked to lie to me over."
"Huh," Kon says. "Weird, but noted for future reference. And yeah, fuck it, let's socialize. Room with a lock, or . . . ?"
"Naw, give Wonder Girl the chance to walk in on us, she wants to see your indestructible ass get wrecked real bad," Slobo says with a smirk, then sticks with that straightforward approach that Kon so rightly appreciates and immediately yanks his belt open and whips his dick out right there on the couch. It is not remotely proportionate to his build, and Kon definitely means that as a compliment.
"Oh, is that the plan here?" Kon says, as someone whose mouth just went dry and who would also admittedly like to see his indestructible ass get wrecked for once. Like, that's a thing he'd like to get to do before he dies, that's all.
"Damn right it is," Slobo says, smirking wider at him and giving his cock a meaningful squeeze. Kon glances down at it speculatively, wondering exactly how Czarnians fuck. Said cock is currently actively rising to the occasion, and also getting increasingly disproportionate to Slobo's build.
Like. Very increasingly.
Damn.
"What'dya think? Wanna come on it, bastich?" Slobo asks with a leering grin and a very unsubtle tug. Kon flicks his eyes back to his face and just eyes him.
. . . then he eyes his dick.
It's actually, like, a very appealing dick. It might be a little smaller than Kon's own is, he thinks, but it's definitely comparable and still plenty damn big either way, all long and thick and heavy-looking, and it's got, like . . . ridges. Bumps. Textures. Like, Bad Dragon wishes it could design such a dick.
. . . Jesus, actually, is that a knot at the base? And–
Oh. Okay.
"Is your dick prehensile," Kon asks, officially just staring at it.
It waves at him.
"Is it?" Slobo asks with a smirk.
"Fuck," Kon says as a downright vicious stab of arousal goes through his gut, and then he very suddenly feels very weird. Slobo cocks his head, looking surprised.
Kon looks down at himself, because again, he feels weird. "Himself" is not there to be looked at.
Well, like, it is. Just not in very . . . "him"-type fashion.
"Huh," Kon says to the very nice pair of tits currently sitting all cute and perky under his S-shield. He blinks in absolute bemusement, and Slobo's expression lights up hungrily.
"Shit, you really do like me, huh," he says, letting go of himself and reaching out to put his hands around Kon's suddenly very, very narrow waist. Like . . . way too far around, actually. That's . . . an experience. Wow. "Never had Kryptonian pussy before."
Yeah, well, you're not the only one, Kon thinks only slightly hysterically.
"You can't get knocked up 'til you go through a full cycle, right, so can I stick it in raw?" Slobo asks like this is all just perfectly normal, which admittedly for all Kon knows about Slobo's life experience and alien biology in general it could in fact be. He thinks of several thousand reasons to say no, but given both who he is as a person and also how bad he really, really wants to finally score some dick for once . . .
"Yeah," he says, then half-reflexively flicks his eyes back down to Slobo's cock and licks his lips. Slobo grins.
"Nice," he says.
Anyway, Kon's suit lasts about five seconds after that. Which–it doesn't fit him quite right at the moment anyway, so it's whatever. It's very weird to see tits and ass and a statistically improbable amount of curves when he looks down at himself, but it's weirder feeling Slobo's hands and mouth roaming greedily all over said statistical improbabilities as the other pushes him down against the cushions. The prick hasn't even kissed him, which: rude much?
Not that Kon's really complaining, because if he wanted "polite" that bad he wouldn't be socializing with Slobo at all, much less his dick, and Slobo is currently making his way down his body and clearly on a mission to kiss him somewhere.
So yeah, the "weird" feelings are very rapidly losing out to the "holy shit, do that again" feelings.
"Holy shit, do that again," Kon says. Slobo grins sharply up at him and then Kon meets his clit and his clit meets Slobo's very eager tongue and anyway Kon now officially and intimately understands why people who've got one bitch so damn much when a partner ignores it. Like wow, does he ever. "Ohhhhh my god. Oh my god oh my god oh my god–!"
So that's pretty distracting, for at least a couple minutes there.
Not that Kon's brain is in any condition to be noticing the passage of time right now.
"Frag, you're already dripping. Wanna get off on my tongue a few times or just get straight to the main attraction?" Slobo asks as he hooks his hands around Kon's currently statistically improbable and also badly shaking thighs and licks his own very slick and shiny lips. Kon remembers the sight of the guy's big fat disproportionate dick very, very vividly, then immediately spreads his thighs as far as he can without the back of the couch interfering.
Possibly he damages said back of the couch just a little bit in the process.
Like, just barely.
"Main attraction," he says firmly. Slobo grins at him again.
"Damn, rolling out the red carpet here, ain't we," he says. "Gonna make a guy feel downright appreciated like this."
"Put your dick in me right the fuck now or I will put you through the fucking wall, asshole," Kon threatens, and of course it's Slobo, so he just grins all the wider.
"Fraggin' flirt," he says with obvious approval.
Then he puts his dick in him.
Kon's vision very literally whites out at the way Slobo feels sliding into him so big and hard and big and deep and big and good and he jerks up instinctively underneath him and makes some really, really undignified noises as his body seizes up. The couch might suffer a little more damage. Kon doesn't give the slightest bit of a fuck.
"Holy shit, did you just fraggin' come?" Slobo asks in obvious delight.
"Shut the fuck up," Kon barely gets out past the aftershocks making his whole damn body twitch and tremble under Slobo's, and Slobo laughs and sort of . . . rolls his hips, kind of, and Kon moans.
"Shit, you're tight," Slobo says, sounding approving again, and this time in a way that makes Kon shudder even harder than he already is. "And soaked. Feels like I just stuck it in somebody's sloppy seconds. What do you think, bastich, want the whole thing in your snatch? Think you can take it?"
"Yes," Kon chokes desperately, and Slobo does the only gentlemanly thing that Kon has ever seen him do, which is immediately just thrust into him balls deep.
That is definitely a knot, yeah, Kon notes.
And definitely Slobo's dick is prehensile.
The literal only reason that Kon doesn't fucking scream is because they're in a building full of active superheroes and god fucking forbid somebody come and "save" him right now. Like, Cassie can watch if she really is into that, but if anybody in any way tries to fucking interrupt he is gonna straight up just become a supervillain.
Unless it's a supervillain interrupting, he guesses, in which case he's just gonna take a page out of Wonder Woman's book and give them the Maxwell Lord special.
Either way, he emphasizes deeply with Anita and her locked doors.
Real deeply.

Bruce as a father across the multiverse 🔥
I'm going to put aside Bruce's that don't get children (which are. most of the ones coming to mind rn ngl xD), even if I think I could make a compelling argument for a few of those being primed to be better parents than comics!Bruce -like gotham!Bruce or nolanverse!Bruce lol.
honestly, other than those from animated versions, like yj!Bruce or gotham knights(cw)!Bruce (we don't see him that much because the show is NOT a batman show, but both him and the kids around seem more well-adjusted xD), or dcau!Bruce which I haven't seen in a long time but was overall alright, from what I remember... my mind is focused on the different versions of Bruce we see in the main continuity. aka the one whose fatherhood we see been explored.
first, there's pre-crisis/earth-one!Bruce. I'm less familiar with Bruce, especially with that particular Bruce-Dick dynamic (though what I've seen is complex and less defined than father-and-son. they call each other partners, brothers, and yes, they have a discussion about the more parental aspects of their relationship while Bruce is in a custody battle with earth-one!Jason). but I have read everything there is to this version of Jason and Bruce and it's... well, the most properly fatherly we ever see Bruce, probably? it's sweet. it's hardly perfect or straightforward (this Jason already served as a counterpoint to Bruce, in a much calmer way), and it could be easy to point out questionable aspects, I'm sure -but maybe because I inevitably compare it to the other versions, he comes out shining xD. he's incredibly flaky with women though, I don't know why they put up with him lol.
then there's post-crisis/new earth!Bruce. now this is the bitch I'm most familiar with xDD. and honestly, yeah, I would call him a shitty father figure. increasingly worsening with time, with things taking a nosedive after Jason's death, but he also pulled Some Shit with Dick or Jason (although with the later he apologised and recognised his mistakes once!!! woah).
what I will say for new earth!Bruce is that the concept of BatfamilyTM, while present, was much less conventional than it is right now. while I wouldn't defend any of the shit he pulled, I can acknowledge it was written with more attention to characterization, to the dynamics involved, and in a less... simplified and stereotypical way, iykwim? the ways new earth!Bruce screws up as a father/authority figure feel like they are meant to inform the character, at least most of the time. I feel like I'm watching a deeply troubled man stuck in his childhood trauma who arguably should never have taken a caretaker role over fellow troubled kids, who acts in controlling and damaging ways because of his own issues and might need to hit rock bottom before he could even think to really do better. but there's a sense that all this is in sync with the story, with the path it and his character follows, iykwim.
then there's post-reboot/prime earth!Bruce. current Bruce. mister "I'll beat Dick into submission to accept an incredibly dangerous job after he's already going through the worst time of his life". mister "I'll beat up Jason so badly he won't be able to hold a gun without his hand trembling a month later". mister "I'll brainwash my son and leave him defenseless because he once made choices I disagreed with and he might do them again". mister "I'll never face any consequences for this for longer than 5 pages, if that, and nothing will change no matter what."
the thing about this one is that he suffers the flaws inherent to prime earth: objectively worse writing that veers towards conventionality (if you try to push a more conventional father-kids view of the Batfamily, Bruce's abusive actions read much, much worse), and chronic inhability to commit to anything which leaves writers scrambling to return to a more comfortable status quo, while recycling storylines in a way that makes this come accross as a consistent, undeniable pattern. that, plus the framing of these actions (gotham war pending, but I'm not getting my hopes up) as Bruce-the-stern-Patriarch who must control these unruly kids is. hmmmmmmmm.
I'm not saying that new earth!Bruce didn't suffer some of that but... it does feel different to me because the kid and not so kid bats got to grow and evolve, if that makes sense? and to do it past Bruce. while in prime earth, everything feels in a state of arrested development. stagnant. and thus, unchangeable, unmoving. not all the "movement" in new earth was good or forward but it's a whole other beast, basically. and things now feel like they're more tied to Bruce, like a lot if not all the other bonds go *through him*? maybe I'm being ungenerous: I haven't read a lot of prime earth (and I'm not gonna xD), but that's the impression I'm left with after what I have read.
and all of those factors contribute to making current!Bruce such a despicable figure to me. if we crossed paths one of us would walk away a few appendages down xDD

[cake slice] [donut] for Helix, [bagel] for loki and, a bit of a weird one, [peach] for Arkam (sorry for not using actual emoji, hope this is OK)
[Cake Slice] How does your OC change as you get to know them?
Helix initially comes off as mysterious and maybe suspiciously friendly, a Good Witch kind of figure who only wants to help others. Very giving and loving, if perhaps lacking in guile.
And she is all of those things, but the closer you get, the more cracks become visible. Helix is also a deeply flawed individual, who pushes boundaries, trespasses into private spaces, is hubristic, is very needy, and selfish in several ways. She is a whole person with many sides, and like many people, she tries to hide at least some of those flaws. But if you know her long enough, these things become clearer, especially if she trusts and is comfortable with you.
She'll also start to drop the mysterious mage facade, and the country girl she truly is shines through.
[Donut] What is your OC's biggest flaw? How do they deal with it? Do they deal with it?
As previously stated, Helix crosses boundaries. Lots of them. Personal space. Beliefs. Principles. In her long travels, and time spent between worlds, she started to lose her grasp on the importance of these things and had to re-learn. Some habits, like just appearing in people's homes, she never quite kicks. But a few people muster up the courage to actually scold her for her actions, and she is penitent enough.
[Bagel] What does/has your OC have/had an unhealthy obsession over? What caused this obsession? How do they deal with it? Do they seek help?
Now as we all know, Loki has had an obsession with proving his 'worth', a nebulous concept at best, and he dealt with it Poorly. Nowadays, depending on which story you're reading, he has either calmed down significantly, gone to some extremes to compensate, or had to put everything on hold to recover from injury. But, as is the bad habit of every Asgardian ever, he doesn't really seek out the help he probably should.
Which shouldn't come as a surprise. I don't think therapists exist in the MCU.
[Peach] How do they show their kindness? How kind are they truly?
This is...complicated. Arkham is a complex individual, and isn't straightforward about most things. There are people Arkham genuinely cares about, but he isn't always open about it, and isn't often conventional about it. Compliments are rare, and often sandwiched between insults or criticisms. He tests people, and if he likes what he sees, he continues doing so. This can seem like dislike, but is an indicator of interest. Unfortunately, it also often leads to danger or worse.
For most people, Arkham's "kindness " comes in the form of not being killed, or being killed quickly and relatively painlessly. He is not a friendly or safe person to be around. But for people he actually cares about, his kindness varies by the individual.
He treats and defends Detective as an equal, perhaps the highest honor he could possibly bestow on another. He doesn't mess with Swag or his enterprises. He allows YJ into his personal space and allows YJ to take care of him. Narci...uh...well he doesn't murder Narci.
Puzzles and Nash get the best he is capable of. Nash gets his best 'fatherly' advice and care (which is still awful, but he tried), and Puzzles gets his romantic love, which I think surprised him as well as everyone else.
He and Helix eventually recognized this in one another, and exchange gifts in a sort of silent pact to protect what they have.
All of it though, is delivered with the threatening playful demeanor he always shows.
