about ymir

ymir is so much more than “the mean lesbian character”. like yes her and historias relationship is a part of her character, but so is her desire to be free and to live how she never could. she’s not rude, she CARES. when the cult was exposed, she didn’t tell the truth about who she was and blame the people she saw as her family because she wanted to help them, even if it turned her into a titan. she told historia to live a life she could be proud of because she wanted her to be happy because she loved her. she’s not selfish, she’s SELFLESS. she gives up/tries to give up her LIFE SO MANY TIMES, once when she threw away her own safety to join the military and help a stranger, twice when she throws herself at a group of titans to possibly help save her comrades, and then third when she lets reiner and bertholdt take her to marley to be eaten because she doesn’t want them to fail their mission. she loves deeply, wholly, and with every part of her. ymir isn’t just “that lesbian”, she’s a tribute to love and sacrifice of every kind in dark places.
