Quentyn had a crush on Ynys Yronwood who went on to marry Daemon Sand's dad.
Arianne's brother had a crush on Arianne's almost mother-in-law. Who is probably younger or at least the same age as Arianne.
House Martell, please, shut up!! <3

Summer is for Dorne - YNYS YRONWOOD
When first he'd come to Yronwood, he had been smitten with Ynys, the eldest of Lord Yronwood's daughters. Though he never said a word about his feelings, he nursed his dreams for years … until the day she was dispatched to wed Ser Ryon Allyrion, the heir to Godsgrace. The last time he had seen her, she'd had one boy at her breast and another clinging to her skirts.

Quentyn/Ynys unrequited for february, pretty please?
For the prompt: Quentyn Martell/Ynys Yronwood, unrequited.
When first he’d come to Yronwood, he had been smitten with Ynys, the eldest of Lord Yronwood’s daughters. Though he never said a word about his feelings, he nursed his dreams for years … until the day she was dispatched to wed Ser Ryon Allyrion, the heir to Godsgrace. (A Dance with Dragons)
“Ser Ryon has a natural son older than us,” said Cletus. “Can you imagine my sister trying to mother this Daemon Sand?”
Quentyn was startled. “Surely Ynys would not be expected to do anything of the sort? He is a grown man after all. Why would he need mothering?” he asked.
Ser Daemon had been his uncle’s squire. His sister and his cousins the Sand Snakes were very fond of the Bastard of Godsgrace, but Quentyn secretly found him quite alarming. He had a way of looking at you as if he were measuring your courage and your conviction, even your worth. And Ser Daemon’s smiles were even more disconcerting. A man like that should not have dimples that bloomed like Tyene’s, thought Quentyn. The contrast was too eerie and unnerving.
Cletus clapped Quentyn’s back and laughed. “You are far too earnest, Quent. I thought I have cured you of that habit. It was a jape, brother, merely a jape. Though it would be amusing to see Ser Daemon addressing my dear sister as lady mother."
“Is she … is she happy about the wedding?” Quentyn asked, cautiously. Even Cletus never knew how he truly felt about Ynys. Cletus would have made a jape of it, he feared. Not out of cruelty, for his foster brother was never knowingly and deliberately cruel, but Cletus might have thought of it as yet another thing to tease his sister about.
“Is Ynys happy about her wedding? Well, you can ask her yourself. Here she is.”
She did not look any different, to Quentyn’s eyes. The dress she was wearing was new, though. “A gift from my good-mother,” she said, with a dazzling smile. She was very pleased, it was clear. Quentyn dropped his gaze. He had to look away. To his relief, no one seemed to notice.
Cletus snorted. “Your good-mother? Lady Allyrion is not your good-mother just yet.”
“She will be soon enough,” Ynys replied, serenely.
“You seem more gratified about the prospect of being her good-daughter than being her poor son’s lady wife,” Cletus remarked.
Quentyn stood staring, astonished. He would never have dared to say such a thing to his own sister. Not now, certainly. Perhaps he would have in the past, before they were separated, before he and Arianne grew very polite and exceedingly careful with one another, even in their letters. How did that happen? When did that happen? He felt as if he should have been able to pin down a particular time and occasion. Or was it merely the corrosive and gradual effect of the passage of time? Somehow he doubted it.
My heart is breaking, Ari, he wished he could have confided to his sister. She would have pulled him into her embrace, in the past. She would have listened to his woes and tried to coax more of the truth out of him, and he would have ended up telling her more than he originally intended and feeling the better for it.
But now … now he could not truly say what Arianne would do.
Ynys did not seem offended by her brother’s remark. She laughed and said, “Her poor son? Ser Ryon is marrying me. You should be congratulating him for his good fortune. I will be a formidable Lady Allyrion, just like his great mother.”
“You won’t be the ruling Lady of Godsgrace like Ser Ryon’s mother.”
Ynys ignored her brother’s remark and turned her gaze towards Quentyn. She patted his hand. It was a sisterly gesture, nothing more than that. “You will miss me, won’t you, Quent? My lunk of a brother here will not miss me at all, I’m sure. He’ll throw a feast, the moment I leave.”

Ynys Yronwood for the character ask!
Ynys Yronwood!
Sexuality Headcanon: I actually have not thought about this... let's default to bi with a preference towards men. I retain the right to change my mind if needed.
Gender Headcanon: cis female
A ship I have with said character: Ynys/Quentyn actually seems kind of nice. Outside of that we'd probably have to get into OCs thanks to the lack of canon options, sadly enough.
A BROTP I have with said character: Thanks to mentioning it in ALotW, I like to imagine a world where she and Arianne are good friends and support each other in their positions as heirs.
Also, in canon, she and Daemon Sand have an agreement that they'll be friends and not actually acknowledge that she's his mother in law.
A NOTP I have with said character: Ryon Allyrion. See below.
A random headcanon: Ynys' relationship with her father is a thousand times worse than Arianne's was with Doran in canon. The Yronwoods follow the same inheritance laws as the rest of Dorne, but Anders showed a lot of favoritism towards Cletus pretty much since he was born. The acrimonious relationship between the two of them was what led Ynys to accept Ryon Allyrion's offer despite not really wanting to marry someone that would require her to lose her position as heir. She just could not stay there any longer.
On a better subject... I haven't had a reason to bring it up, but thanks to her friendship with Arianne in aLotW, she's actually the first Yronwood in several generations to learn some Rhoynish.
General Opinion over said character: I feel like she's a waste of a potentially good character, and it's a shame we don't get to actually see her.

Is there a social difference between a man having a bastard born before a marriage? And what would happen e.g. if the man brought the (male) bastard up in his home and then later married? How big would the insult to his wife be if he didn't send him away once he's married and has trueborn children?
There’s no real social difference to bastards born before a marriage or during one. They’re both illegitimate, without the grace of wedding vows, born “on the wrong side of the blanket”, from “lust and lies”, etc, all that stigma. A lord’s wife might feel somewhat different about them on a personal level, but general society won’t; though for either type, she would greatly prefer that her husband have nothing to do with them, other than seeing to their general well-being as is right and proper.
In the case of bastards born some time before a marriage, we have at least four examples.
Daemon Sand, the Bastard of Godsgrace, whose father Ryon Allyrion only married Ynys Yronwood recently (they have two toddler-age sons). There the more lenient Dornish attitude towards bastards most likely applies; Daemon was a companion of Princess Arianne Martell in his youth, squired for Oberyn Martell, and accompanied his father to King’s Landing as part of the Martell party, for examples. However, if Ynys is not particularly accepting of Daemon and feels insulted by his presence (especially since the Yronwoods are stony Dornishmen and least influenced by the Rhoynar), we will likely find out in TWOW, as Daemon is part of Arianne’s diplomatic party to meet the pretender Aegon Targaryen.
Rolland Storm, the Bastard of Nightsong, who is presumably at least a little older than his trueborn half-brother Bryce Caron. House Caron has the unusual situation in that most of them were wiped out by illness in Bryce’s childhood – Lord Bryen, his wife, his younger son, and all his daughters – leaving only Bryce and Rolland. If Rolland had been raised elsewhere before Bryen and his wife died – and it is possible he was, as he’s called “a seasoned killer”, therefore, considering Robert’s relatively peaceful reign, it may be he took a turn as an Essosi mercenary or a traveling knight dealing with local lords’ little battles – it doesn’t seem to have affected his and Bryce’s relationship, as they declared for Renly together (Bryce even becoming a Rainbow Guard) and then for Stannis. After Bryce died at the Battle of the Blackwater, Rolland became the pretender lord of Nightsong (the Lannisters granted it to Philip Foote, Bryce’s killer) and castellan of Dragonstone. We’ll just have to see in TWOW what happened to Rolland Storm when Dragonstone was captured by Loras Tyrell, and if we find out more about his history.
Aurane Waters, the Bastard of Driftmark, scion of House Velaryon. Actually, it’s not certain whether Aurane was older or younger than his half-brother Monford Velaryon, who had a 6-year-old son, Monterys, before he died at the Blackwater. But Aurane was evidently raised at least on the island of Driftmark, if not perhaps in Driftmark castle itself, and he sided with the Velaryons when they declared for Stannis. But though young Lord Monterys has remained loyal to Stannis, Aurane surrendered to the Lannisters, becoming a courtier and eventually Master of Ships (Lord Admiral)… until he used his position to have a fleet of great warships built, manned them with criminals, and stole them to set himself up as a pirate king in the Stepstones. Aurane Waters is another where TWOW might give him more background history for us to see.
Mya Stone, eldest bastard daughter of Robert Baratheon. At least we know her history in detail. :)  Mya was born in the Vale when Robert was about 17, still a ward of Jon Arryn. She was taken in by House Royce of the Gates of the Moon (it’s possible her mother was a servant at the Gates, the Arryn winter castle, or living in a village nearby, as it was probably winter when Mya was born), and still works for them as a mule leader. When Robert, disgruntled with Joffrey after the disturbing incident with the cat, mentioned to Cersei that he was thinking about bringing Mya to court, Cersei not-exactly-subtly threatened Mya’s life, so that didn’t happen. Cersei is a little more overt than most lord’s wives would behave – but she did clearly see how much of an insult to Robert’s (nominally) legitimate children bringing Mya to King’s Landing would be, and Robert’s motivations for doing so. (Note: Gendry does not count for purposes of this discussion, even though he was probably born (at the very least, conceived) before Robert’s marriage, because Robert never knew he existed.)
So you can see, as with most things, it depends – but truly, no matter when a bastard is born, their presence is generally an insult to a lord’s legitimate family. That is, unless they’re made servants (Falia Flowers, the Frey bastards) or deniable assets (Tyler Hill, the Frey bastards again) or the legitimate family is dead or lonely (Bryce and Rolland, Domeric Bolton and Ramsay), or other rare exceptions (Jon Snow and other Stark bastards). I hope that helps!

Who inherits Yronwood, anyway?
Cletus was the heir, and therefore the oldest child, but he died, and after him comes Ynys, the elder daughter who is married to the heir to godsgrace, Ryon Allyrion. She has two children.
Does the eldest of those two children inherit Godsgrace and Yronwood both? Could Gwyneth Yronwood, the younger sister, inherit their father's seat instead? Is this an open question to be settled by the prince(ss) of Dorne? Am I missing something?

Daughters of Dorne
Ynys Yronwood, eldest daughter of Lord Anders Yronwood. Married to Ser Ryon Allyrion, with whom she has at least two children. She has the blonde hair and the blue eyes typical of her house.
Gwyneth Yronwood, her younger sister. She is a small and scrawny twelve years old girl, with brown hair and brown eyes. She is clever and as quick with words as with her hands. Quite fond of Quentyn Martell.

I would like a ruling Yronwood lady in f&b vol. 2 and a Ladybright lady in either Mariah or Dyanna’s retinue but like. I’m very scared of how Gyldayn is gonna talk about the Dornish :/

i'm actually writing a meta rn about anti-dornish racism and i've made the point that while some dornish do have paramours, the westerosi have the EXACT SAME THING, except they call them "mistresses" and like to pretend that they don't exist
Yep. The only difference is that these women are not typically treated like lesser than dirt in Dorne and their children aren’t best kept out of sight and out of mind like the rest of the Westerosi do. To think that some are fond of claiming that Dorne accepts adultery as a way of life simply because they treat women and bastards as human beings....
I’ll also add that having a paramour does not necessarily mean adultery. A paramour is a lover taken outside the bonds of marriage but not necessarily as a mistress on the side for a married noble. Oberyn was not married, neither was Arianne or Lewyn Martell. They had paramours but they were not cheating so to use the argument that Dorne permits paramour as evidence that they were fine with adultery or that Elia was fine with Rhaegar impregnating Lyanna has no basis. Sexual relationships outside of marriage is acceptable in many countries IRL, but that does not mean that a person would automatically be okay with their partner cheating. That’s silly and minimizing. It restricts faithfulness to marriage and marriage alone, and treats monogamy as a practice for married people only. It’s the same thing in asoiaf. The Dornish can take lovers without marriage, but this is not an automatic cultural allowance of adultery.
