Anyone remember the show The Amazing Spiez?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a spinoff of Totally Spiez and these kids are the new trainees (they get mentored by the Totally Spiez characters). They're all siblings and their parents used to be spies as well before retiring.
Anyway, anytime I joke about Wally and Linda having twins again all I'm thinking about are these kids. Four crime fighting, biracial, colorful spandex clad, grade school aged siblings? Even Megan and Mark (the twins) remind me so much of Irey and Jai with their whole 'bookworm, socially awkward, tech expert brother who looks exactly like his mom' and 'outgoing, energetic, golden child of the family, super athletic sister who looks exactly like her dad' thing.
Their dynamic is great and they work well together as a team. Recently I've seen a lot of people in forums and irl say that the third West kid won't work well or that the third West kid will screw up the dynamic.
I really don't think that will be the case. If it's a boy or if it's twins. I think the dynamic will be fine.
Hell, look at the Power Pack. If you want to see a comics based sibling team that works well then look no further!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love these guys!
There's also the Shazam fam that has way more than four kids. And then Incredibles has three kids and their whole dynamic is fantastic.
There are so many examples of sibling sets of more than two in media that work really well. I mean, the kids in Narnia for starters.
I really don't know why some people are upset that Wally and Linda are having a kid. I guess I just don't understand why 'it could never work' when it really really could.

Steve: How did you all get arrested?
Oliver: Honestly, I don't know
Carter: They got pulled over and when the officer said 'papers', Garth just yelled 'scissors' and Hal drove off.
Barry: tattle tale.

You know, the court of owls is probably the best antagonist in the batman mythos, but they get handled so poorly. Here are the people literally responsible for Gotham being how it is, they thrive out of the poor getting more poor and killing each other and likely liked the more rage induced phase of batman since he helped control the masses even, but instead of having it be about Batman breaking the cycle of violence and freeing Gotham city, they make it about Bruce's parents or some shit.
The reason why the rogues are rogues is because they don't abide within the laws the court has created. Now, to to say I agree with them, but most of the other criminals will kill others like them just to survive while the rogues love under the pretense of eat the rich. They rob banks, go against figures of power and steal from the rich. The court of owls could be a threat not just to Batman, but also his rogue gallery and show the true evil that consumes the real world, so powerful that it would take Batman aligning himself with the Rogues to put them down, but no. We gotta make it about the Wayne family.

In short, these people inspired me so much like what the hay 😭😭

“Yo I have this fuck up version of deltarunr”
“What?”
“Yea there is chara and-“
“Bro what the fuck?”
I love to imagine every undertale/deltarune comic is just some wacky fangame/hack/glitch that the player in the story unknowingly downloaded.

Hey, yo, like, you should do this. Your Sherlock Holmes comics, literally the books but Adapted to comics like that, some little things added in the images but still canon. That other gal was right, you’d get us back into Sherlock Holmes. Like it’s public domain and all, so you could do it, properly, either via WEBTOON or independent publication.
BRO I am fantasizing about it I really am...so many ideas about adaptation and unreliable narration and how that would play out in a visual medium that could also incorporate text...gnashes my teeth

Well, at least she gave him fair warning.
Thanks to Vriska, John was able to achieve the god tiers without confronting his mortality. He didn't have to grapple with any of this, and it's possible that he was robbed of some character growth as a result.
That said, I still think Vriska did him a solid. It's just ironic that she thinks she's helping him develop as a hero, when she might be doing the exact opposite.

I do wonder if Bro had an adopted family. We know Nanna and Grandpa's background, and Mom was probably the child that Skaianet were apparently raising in their laboratory. (Remember when I thought there was a secret clone of Rose down there?)
Bro, however, is an enigma, even among the Guardians. He has no known relationship with any of the other parents, but was definitely getting foreknowledge of Sburb from somewhere. I'm not even sure I want to know what sort of childhood produces Bro Strider.

Really, the coin is just a rhetorical device. Terezi doesn't need to flip a coin, or even have a coin, because the real flip is happening in Dave's head. His Mind, if you will.
This does raise a lot of questions, though. I hope there isn't a timeline for every conceivable decision you could make. We've sort of discussed the idea before, but I don't think I've really talked about the subtle horror of a multiverse that works that way.
I mean, if there's a timeline for every possible decision - if everyone is capable of making any choice, at any time - then John will randomly kill his friends, for no reason. There are millions of offshoots where he does this. WV will become a monarchist. Dave will take off his shades.
It goes deeper, too. You can't even meaningfully ask why Dave wears shades, because he doesn't. He's constantly taking them off, because it is possible for him to do so. And if there's a timeline where he never takes them off, it's only because that's a decision he could potentially make.
If timelines branch at every decision, with no restrictions, then every single person in the multiverse is constantly doing things that contradict the core of who they are. In fact, there is no core. Everyone is an indistinguishable robot, constantly making every possible decision, simply because they can.
Homestuck could work like this, but I prefer the Discworld interpretation - I think it's more consistent with the comic's themes of choice. In Night Watch, protagonist Vimes is confronted with this exact question, and we get this exchange:
“But sometimes you can’t help wondering: what would have happened if I’d done something different–” “Like when you killed your wife?” Sweeper was impressed at Vimes’s lack of reaction. “This is a test, right?” “You’re a quick study, Mister Vimes.” “But in some other universe, believe me, I hauled off and punched you one.” Again, Sweeper smiled the annoying little smile that suggested he didn’t believe him. “You haven’t killed your wife,” he said. “Anywhere. There is nowhere, however huge the multiverse is, where Sam Vimes as he is now has murdered Lady Sybil. But the theory is quite clear. It says that if anything could happen without breaking any physical laws, it must happen. But it hasn’t. And yet the “many universe” theory works. Without it, no one would ever be able to make a decision at all.” “So?” “So what people do matters!” said Sweeper. “People invent other laws. What they do is important!
In short, there are some things you would never do, physical laws be damned. It is inconceivable that Vimes would murder his wife, because his current personality is incompatible with that decision. It simply cannot be made to make sense, so it can't spawn a timeline.
Note that this is only true for Vimes 'as he is now'. His moral code doesn't necessarily apply to his alt-selves - or even his younger self, whose code hasn't solidified. Hell, half the book is about making sure Young Vimes develops that code in the first place. There could be an evil John Egbert, but our John can't just arbitrarily turn evil.
So that's how I think it works. There's a timeline for every decision that you'd choose to make, and that subset of decisions will change as you grow. Your development as a person shapes the multiverse, in a very literal way.

[Start ID: 3 pages of HLVRAI doodles exploring the idea of Benrey using tone indicators and Tommy's use of quasi-auditory emoticons. The last 2 are a comic narrative.
When he spots Benrey reaching for a soda, Tommy sternly tells him, "Uh- no, Benrey. Don't. Touch. That," followed by somehow enunciating a copypasted emoji that looks like two eyes hovering in the darkness. Benrey backs off and goes, "okay, geeez. why you mad? /g" Tommy then explains, looking very pleased with himself, "I'm not! I'm testi- testing out a new [REDACTED] and it's working pretty uhfect- effectively :D!" Said [REDACTED] refers to the earlier eyes emoji. In a separate scenario, Tommy explains his emoticon usage to Gordon, saying, "There's uh- a subtle difference between :o, :0, and :O," to which Gordon, disturbed out of his mind at how Tommy had even managed to speak that, whispers to himself, "I…I understand that. Why do I understand that??" And in the last scenario in this page, Gordon and Tommy happen upon something terrible and unfathomable. Gordon, with a blank almost-smile, utters in a light-headed way, "I'm going insane. I am going. Insane. I'm just gonna go lie down now." Meanwhile, Tommy has since stopped processing what he was looking at and is rapidly skipping straight to just accepting the reality of it. All he says is, ":0"
Benrey asks Gordon, "yo, why d'you tie your hair all tight like that? used to look all soft 'n nice 'n shit /pos" His hand is reached upwards to where Gordon's hair is tied back neat and flat against his skull, and Gordon swats it away, annoyed. "Does it LOOK like I've got time for some sorta- what- FASHION STATEMENT? I'm trying to survive, man! How the hell am I supposed to see with my hair comin' down like that?" In a split second moment of realisation though, Gordon's tone shifts to something more accusatory, "Oh, but of course you'd LOVE THAT, wouldn't you? Cuz I wouldn't see YOU comin' then, would I?" Benrey just rolls his eyes and folds his arms, "ughhh, bro chill. "/pos", remember? i was complementing you. Gordon Forget-man." That claim has Gordon laughing in disbelief. "Yeah, sure. And last I checked, you got my ARM cut off. But that's no big deal, right? That's fine, that's cool, and an okay thing to happen."
Benrey gives him a strange look. "…bro, you bein' /s right now, or- " but Gordon cuts him off and tells him, "I'm not talking to you anymore."
End ID.]
[Open-mouth emoticons: ":o" indicates a casual tone, a statement with no threat ":0" indicates a slight botheredness, OR complete blankness ":O" indicates enthusiasm or an amplified emotion]
I just like my open-mouth emoticon tone indicator substitutes :)
