for 1/24: seto is a knight under king gozaburo and jounouchi is his squire and they get sent on a mission to slay a dragon

Thanks for sending this prompt! It was a neat one and it definitely lit a lot of neurons in my brain. But I'm starting to get the sneaking suspicion, from this attempt and how loooong it took me to write May you be blessed with fortune and (mis)adventure, that I'm not fit for writing medieval fantasies. So as much as I wanted to finish this one, I struggled with the specifics, especially convincing dialogue.

So rather than let this languish forever in my notes app, I thought I would put what I did manage out instead of WIP Snippet Sunday. Everything I know about knights in fiction comes from Tamora Pierce's Tortall series and the Merlin TV show, and this is very much more of the former than the latter.

What an unceremonious homecoming.

The throne room was virtually empty save for the handful of lords, mainly ministers, gathered at the foot of the dais. Every one of them was a surly old man, with the surliest seated on the throne itself. The only person Seto cared to see welcome him home, his little brother, was nowhere in sight.

The sparse audience, the king's impassive expression, the invisible yet unmistakable border drawn between him and the royal retinue—it put Seto on high alert. Years of practice allowed him to maintain an impassive expression as he knelt before the throne, lowering his head as etiquette dictated before he spoke, "Sire."

From behind, rustling clothing and a soft thud reminded him of his squire's presence.

"Hail to the king," the man muttered. While he managed to control his volume, for once, the salutation reverberated through the empty chamber.

"Welcome home, Seto." The king gazed at him down the length of his nose.

He kept his head bowed. Neither he nor his squire before the king granted them permission to rise. Which he failed to do for the duration of his questioning. Seto tucked his clenched fist out of direct sight and gritted his teeth as he gave his report on the border situation. Nothing he said was news to the king. Seto was merely regurgitating months of reports previously sent by the garrison's commander.

Whenever he heard the person behind him shift restlessly, he tensed, even if he never paused in what he said as he held the king's steely and unflinching gaze. When he finally had nothing left to say, the silence dragged out interminably. It was deafening in its volume as the ministers traded glances with one another.

But no one dared to speak before the king did.

At last, Gozaburo shifted, smiling indulgently at Seto as a portion of the formality chipped from his posture. "Seto, you are a shining example of valor for the realm. Every knight in the realm would do well to follow your lead."

"Thank you, sire. You're too kind," he said despite the sourness invading his taste buds. A cold dread flooded his body when the king's grin widened.

"There truly is no one else that I can entrust with a mission of such importance," the king continued.

Seto sucked in a sharp breath. Then as it always did, the other shoe dropped.

"I don't understand how you can be so calm about this! He's trying to kill you!" His squire was pacing a hole into the rug. After a pause, he added, "And me!"

It was a miracle the blond man managed to keep his mouth shut until they were behind closed doors. It had taken years and more than a few literal beatings (though through no intervention of Seto's) before the necessity of discretion sunk through Joseph's thick skull.

Ignoring the rant, Seto collapsed into an armchair. His once-perfect posture transformed into a defeated slouch. Their most recent quest and the vast distance they traveled to return here took its toll on him, mentally and physically. Needless to say, not even Seto had expected to be called for an immediate audience with the king, only to be handed an even greater challenge.

Some might even say impossible.

Even though they were in his chambers, he knew better than to speak too freely or too truthfully. The castle walls had ears.

Seto's voice remained perfectly flat as he spoke, "His majesty honors us by tasking us with a mission of such great importance."

Joseph froze in the midst of his pacing. The squire spun to gape at him. "A dragon, your royal highness. Your father is sending you to your death at the jaws of a beast!"

Seto sagged deeper into his seat. He didn't need to be reminded. Felling a dragon, while difficult, could be done. But none had achieved such a feat without a company of men at minimum. Seto had been tasked to do so armed only with his wits, might, and the questionable support of one unruly squire.

He squeezed his eyes close and pinched the bridge of his nose. It did little to stave the headache building in the base of his neck and creeping up into the crown of his head. He merely listened as the other man shuffled in the background. Probably resumed his worried pacing.

So he was startled when warm fingers grasped his chin. With wide eyes, he looked up, locking with Joseph's rich brown eyes. The room was significantly dimmer with all the curtains drawn shut to block out the light. The squire's golden brow was furrowed by concern. Nor did he resist as the man pushed up on his jaw and tilted his head over the chair's back.

"You're getting another one of those headaches, ain't ya?" Joseph asked.

Seto should scold him for his diction. For his forwardness. But the pressure crushed his skull until it threatened to crack like a melon. A whimper threatened to break free.

"Okay, you need to lie down."

Without waiting for an answer, the squire heaved his aching body and hauled him across the room. Seto hit his bed with a soft oof. For a hysterical moment, it felt as if the down mattress threatened to swallow him like the maws of a dragon. But it passed when Joseph guided him against the pillow. Then, Joseph fiddled with a piece of cloth, soaking it in a basin of water before laying it over Seto's forehead and eyes, obscuring his haloed view of the squire.

"Close your eyes and rest for a bit. We were on the road nonstop. I'll go and see if the healer has any tinctures that can help." Clothing rustled as Joseph rose to his full height. The bed bounced as he removed his weight.

Without thinking, Seto's hand shot out blindly but nabbed the other man's sleeve. A momentary weakness that filled him with self-loathing.

"Why can't you always be this subservient?" he needled. At least his voice didn't crack.

Joseph's calloused fingers gripped his wrist, squeezing every so gently before he removed Seto's grip. "Maybe you should try being less of a royal pain-in-my-ass the rest of the time. I'll be back."

Seto dug his fingers into the blanket, merely listening as the chamber doors squeaked open and shut. Then he was alone.

Joseph Wheeler hadn't been Seto's first choice for a squire. He hadn't even been the last choice. But that was because he wasn't anyone's preferred choice.

Joseph was of common birth. He had no ties to the royal family or a noble house. A peasant through and through. The only reason he'd been allowed to train for the knighthood was because of a ridiculous tradition instituted by Seto's grandfather. Every five years, the kingdom administered a test open to the children of common folk, selecting one to join the current cohort of pages. A slim and unlikely pathway to the upper class if one had the conviction (or in most cases, parents with the money and resources).

No one could say why Joseph had been chosen out of a dozen others. Maybe the knight master and other trainers thought it'd be good for a laugh.

Seto, who was on the verge of becoming a squire himself, had certainly wrinkled his nose at the selection when he heard.

The blond had been at the upper limit of ages allowed. Most noble children would've been embarrassed to be a starting page at that age. Joseph came to the castle without friends or advantages waiting in the wing. No one expected him to last.

The only question was what ran out first. The boy's meager resources or his fortitude or his luck.

But Joseph endured. Not always well or graciously or intelligently. But he dug his heel, bore through all the mud and hazing from his peers, and worked diligently enough to impress enough instructors to advance. Even Seto had to admit he was a skilled fighter.

Serving as a prince's squire was usually a coveted position. Something for which the qualified sons of noble houses jockeyed. So how did Seto end up with a commoner as his squire?

In the weeks preceding Seto's knighting ceremony, multiple lords and ladies of the court campaigned to him directly on their children's behalf. But that stopped after his father, King Gozaburo, delayed the ceremony and sent him to the neighboring kingdom for two weeks.

When he returned, he found himself saddled with the literal bottom of the barrel, Joseph.

Gozaburo claimed this was for the best. Now no noble house could seek to control or unduly influence Seto. But Seto couldn't help but think, like so many other occasions in his life, that his own father was sabotaging him.

It was no secret that he and Joseph didn't get along. They fought every time their schooling and training overlapped. The whole castle knew that. He thought the commoner too crude and stupid, and Joseph maintained Seto "had a stick up his ass."

Again, nobility and servants alike made bets under the table. How long before the prince murdered the commoner in a fit of temper? How long before the squire did something that irrevocably shamed his master?

But if Seto and Joseph shared anything in common, it was the ability to grit their teeth and bear through their sorry circumstances.

So they persevered. Individually at first, and now together. Close quarters always made for odd friends.

Alina had been ready for the post-season break, a few weeks off that would include some guided tour traveling in Europe. She was looking forward to new food, new adventures, and the possibility of finding her older sister that ran away from home when she was fifteen. It was what she did every post-season; some new adventure to a new place, all while staying vigilant, always looking for that familiar face in a crowd. It had been over a decade now and she was losing hope. The peaceful country of Kylanth seemed like a perfect escape, but there definitely hadn't been a soul that looked like her there. She'd been falling behind on a tour of the castle, distracted by the beautiful paintings when she turned a corner and smacked into someone. Her eyes racked up his form, her mouth falling open in shock or apology, but forming a smile of surprise. "Dorian?" As soon as she said his name he was pressing her against the wall, his mouth crashing into his. The dancer pushed up on the tips of her toes, tugging on his shirt, kissing him back. Tour be damned.

🍠 Capricorn/Saturn natives tend to age backwards. The type to look 40 at 13 and 13 at 40.

🍠 Pisces placements (excluding pisces suns) have this christ-like sort of kindness to them. *someone trips and falls in front of people* pisces placements: *not being able to stop feeling soooo bad for that person forever*

🍠 Never seen someone edgier than scorpios who have gemini placements. They’re so annoying bc they look cool and are actually cool it’s not just a facade.

🍠Venus-Saturn aspects in a natal chart not only do they indicate the native’s inclination to attract older partners but it also indicates extreme level of loyalty in the native’s nature

🍠Venus-Jupiter in natal chart indicates aging backwards. Esp Venus Sq. Jupiter that is aging like fine wine so to say. Halle berry has this aspect in her chart.

🍠Again I do not condone medically diagnosing people via their birth chart. However, I have noticed a pattern in people who seem to suffer from eating disorders in one way or another. They usually seem to have prominent Saturnian influence in their chart such as Saturn ruled moons in that they’re usually quite disciplined to a fault if they put their mind to achieve a certain goal and in this case weight loss it’s hard to sway them and convince them to truly indulge from time to time, they practice extreme self control when it comes to their diet. Cap asc, asc-saturn, asc-neptune and harsh neptunian aspects (illusion) can also indicate body dysmorphia in a native’s chart hence extreme dieting or worse starvation. Sometimes Pluto can also have the same effect since the planet rules transformation especially if it aspects the ascendant in that people could notice extreme weight loss transformation in people who have plutonian aspects. Pluto aspecting Saturn or Uranus can also indicate sudden weight loss as well and they usually tend to be extreme like how celebs lose insane amount of weight in such a short time for a movie role or a red carpet event. E.g., Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Chris Hemsworth, Hilary Swank and so many others unfortunately.

🍠 Speaking of body dysmorphia we can also notice a pattern in celebs who are obsessed with cosmetic procedures/surgeries in that they have at least one or two of the above aspects. E.g., Kylie Jenner, Ariana Grande, Marilyn Monroe, Bella Hadid and the list goes on.

🍠 After researching ED and body dysmorphia in those celebs' charts, I observed that many of them have Sagittarius somewhere in their charts. Sagittarius placements could signify recklessness and a "yolo" attitude that leads to risky life choices and potentially jeopardizing their well-being.

🍠Individuals with prominent scorpio placements/pluto dom individuals are seriously sexy it’s not a stereotype it’s true ugghhh.

🍠Cancer ascendant individuals tend to look like they’re on the verge of tears even when they’re fine.

🍠Mercurial suns with pisces moon are usually musicially inclined and they are innovative in their artistic pursuits examples of artists with these placements are: Kanye West, Michael Jackson, and Prince.

🍠I always find a sun-pluto aspect in superstars’ natal charts and celebs such as Beyonce, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley have this aspect. It indicates having a huge following and having a powerful impact on the masses.

Edit: oh my god🤦🏻‍♀️ the first and the fifth astro observations could have been in one bullet point. i’m sorry, i was exhausted making this one.

Callisto apology

Before I continue interacting in VADD fandom, I would like to share my opinion about Callisto and his controversial first interaction with Penelope:

Callisto did nothing wrong by pointing his sword at Penelope, he was protecting himself because he thought she was a threat.

What I do agree with is that he was a fucking jerk when after the confession he "played" for a while with Penelope and her responses… And I was also a jerk for laughing at that, feeling bad about Penelope's stress, but not regret laughing (Don't play innocent because I know someone else laughed at that too lmao)

So yes, I completely understand if Callisto's taunting bothered you, because he behaved annoyingly, but getting upset that he was on guard? I'm sorry, but I really don't understand that. I know there are people who don't like to see violence, but it makes sense to me that he would react that way. They literally sent him an assassin early on, why wouldn't he still be on alert after that?

The fact is always brushed off as he did it because he was blinded with rage, but then why have a conversation where it's clearly revealed that Callisto is on guard over Penelope's actions?

Penelope was waiting for Callisto, but he wasn't, so it does look suspicious to meet someone who seems to be looking for something or someone insistently (in the novel it was mentioned that Penelope was looking in all directions)

The story is told from the perspective of Penelope/Siyeon and therefore we empathize faster with her and I can understand that anger towards him for our overprotection that we have towards our protagonist, but! The empress sent an assassin to Callisto, he went to his brother's birthday party bringing the murderer's half-dead, he gave a threatening speech disguised as a birthday present and… immediately afterwards, he decapitated the assassin and threw his head at the feet of his brother while the witch empress almost fainted (see later in paragraph "1.") … All while Penelope was witness to it…

So we all know the story: she went after him like yolo, let's find the reset button or die trying. I perfectly understand her point and also the fact that she regrets it later, it's obvious that she's going to try to survive no matter what. But I need to emphasize this, because when she mentions that she "sincerely came to comfort him", we as readers knew that she was lying, but Callisto? I'm 100% sure he was thinking: I cut off someone's head in front of several nobles, and I'm the one who needs to be consoled?

This was why he didn't believe her confession of love, not only because she told him "I like you", but that consolation thing doesn't make sense (and Oh God I can't blame Penny because when you're desperate you make terrible and illogical excuses jksjskjs)

So yeah, I don't condemn the fact that Callisto defended himself, If I were in his position I would do the same, but he was definitely a bastard making Penelope fool.

1. In case you didn't read the first few chapters of the novel and just picked up where the manhwa left off, this happened and was censored in the manhwa:

The 2nd prince couldn't say anything with a pale face like someone about to pass out.

Diavolo was all into you going to the human realm for the outfit. He was enthusiastic about what this traditional human dress could be. In red like him. But OMG that sent your brain to daydream about marrying Diavolo.

So many eyes are going to be on you. Diavolo is the Prince of Devildom. There were definitely whispers and rumors about the two of you. Especially as his DATE to the celebration.

Human as a date for the Prince. Gotta go big or call Asmodeus.

Time for the big reveal. Getting ready at the castle. Diavolo is waiting on his bed for you to show him your outfit.

"I know you are going to look ravishing." Diavolo's excited voice helped stop the nerves.

He stood the moment you opened the door. He was speechless. Diavolo adored you. Maybe the Prince of Devildom was hopelessly in love. Trying to keep it under wraps and secret for as long as possible. Ignore the rumors. Ignore the want to be openly loving.

"Hello, Dia." Turning and closing the door gently. Not noticing that Diavolo had quickly got up to meet her.

He couldn't get any words out. He leaned down cupping your face hesitating to make sure you wanted him to then kissing you trying to explain how he felt right now.

Breaking the kiss you smile. "Do you like it?" Laughing

Diavolo blushed "I can't...I don't know.. I never imagined... You look exquisite." He spun you around to take a look.

"so, tell me about this human tradition. What traditional outfit is this?" Brimming with curiosity.

"lehenga. Dupatta. And this type of nose ring is called a nath. Nose piercings are common with women. It's a silly superstition that it will help relieve the pain in childbirth." Laughing then choking a bit once you realized what you mentioned. To a demon with a breeding kink. Blushing at under his gaze.

"I will keep that in mind for the future." Winking.

The two of you looked the part of future king and queen of the Devildom. Plenty of whispers and looks from others. You definitely didn't go unnoticed. Diavolo showed you off all night all he was forced to do the duties of his title.

Barbatos

He knows. But there's a difference between that and enjoying the touch of it. Your boyfriend knew all.

You hear a knock at the door. You were staying in the castle to get ready. Barbatos was coming to find you to leave together for the celebration.

You smile softly as you let him in the room closing the door behind him. Blushing slightly hoping he loves it.

"I was trying to match you "

Kissing your forehead and putting his forehead against yours he smiles. "Thank you. You look magnificent."

I'm so sorry. That was terrible. I just do not know him very well. But I wanted to try at least.

Simeon

You were just as excited to see Simeon as he was about seeing you. He's gorgeous. Perfect. He was your not-boyfriend. Boyfriend in all ways but name. Trying to figure out how to make this happen.

There was an issue with his DDD and you headed over to Purgatory Hall. Knocking at the door. Simeon rushed to open the door. Stopping to take in all of you.

"you look ethereal. I'm so happy you said you would go with me to the party."

Yeah, that was bare minimum. I probably know the least about him from the original.

Solomon

He kept trying to find out what you were wearing. Your old wizard boyfriend was counting down the moment he could see the dress. He had an idea of what it could be. Solomon is human after all .

He suddenly heard a knock at his door. Confused he opened it and was shocked to see you. Surprising him.

His face was priceless. Such an adorable blush. As he let you in closing the door behind him.

"I'll not be letting you out of my sight. Can't trust anyone with a beauty like you." Taking your breath away with a passionate kiss.

"Soli, I love you."

"I love you my dove."

I ran out of steam. I love all of them but I cannot get their personalities as accurate.

Luke

Not romantic. He asked you to help him get ready and he wanted to make sure you two matched. Luke beat the brothers to coordinate outfits with his favorite human.

Luke was curious about your dress. But knew you two would match.

Arriving to meet Luke and Simeon at purgatory Hall.

Luke is excited to see you three matching.

Luke ends up holding on to the end of the saree all night or the fabric of the jacket of the lehenga. Eventually needing to be taken home by Simeon.

Luke had so much fun he fell asleep.

Back with another Miko question! I know Miko is a bard but does he like to play for others or does he play mostly for himself? What's his favorite instrument to play, can he play more than one? Do you have a playlist or any certain songs that you could see him playing (or playing a FFXIV version of, e.g. replacing names of places or gods with ones from XIV?)

Okay so this one is a bit complicated for me to answer I think cuz this is kinda a topic about Miko I get a little nervous about lol music is a huge part of his character and I always get a little worried I make this part of him a little dumb. But alas I'm just gonna, as they say, yolo this so enjoy lol

But yes yes yes! Miko loves playing for people! He will play for the sheer entertainment to get people into the music and dance or he'll just play to keep someone company. He doesnt mind and he's usually pretty good on judging the situation and what is appropriate. but he does also play for himself, yes. especially if he is a bit down, but he'll mostly just play cuz he can and its something to do and he likes it. he also hums a lot which might drive some people nuts but at least its pretty lol

His best instrument is his voice, of course xD but no really his favorite is the violin! I see miko being strangely skilled at picking up just about any instrument tbh. all he needs to do is listen and watch someone play it for a moment and he can easily just fall right in and follow along. like the morin khuur from the steppe i just see him having gone big eye zoomies on the people playing those at the time cuz he'd never seen them before and was itching to give them a try lol (tbh im kinda thinking his music skill is probably something he inherited from his azem. that guy was probably coming up with insane songbird concepts and shoving them at hythlodaeus and the poor guy would have to tell him to chill out lol) but miko leans more towards string instruments like the violin, harp, guitar. something about the quickness of the fingers and the violin having a bow tickles him cuz he also wields a bow in battle lol but he's always down to playing anything given the opportunity. but yeah okay this is long winded but if miko has to pick one instrument as his go to its a violin and his voice.

which okay now as for songs im gonna drop some links here and pray they dont break. i do have a playlist for him but its a mess of inspirations and random songs that just make me think of him and i feel kinda weird linking it so im just gonna pick out a few that are big inspirations for him. which first off miko has huge celtic violin/fiddle vibes so if youre ever curious what miko would just play offhand just look up any of that xD

a song that ive always felt is very HIM since the very beginning has been Andrew's Song by End of Silence. i can just always picture him singing something like this for some reason about his journey. it also kinda sounds like a younger miko, perhaps arr time when he's just starting off, which i like lol

next i kinda find lindsey stirling's violin style to be a big inspiration for him especially Between Twilight. this one is especially something he'd play on the violin just to play. not to perform or anything but just the natural miko music, if that makes sense lol

as for when playing other instruments i basically see him being like this and this where he can just basically use the whole instrument to make any kind of song or just play anything with ease. also really love the idea of him being so quick with a lot of them like that xD

now this is where i get a little embarrassed cuz i do actually have a singing voice claim for miko and its that peter hollens guy on youtube. which has the range and very disney prince-esque sound to it. i'll link his version of Sleepsong here for quick reference cuz i do really like that song as like an example of a lullaby his real mom wouldve sang to him when he was little. also speaking of lullabies with mom i like imagining The Song from Song of the Sea as basically what baby miko singing with his mom would be like lol

now as for some songs that i just especially associate with him as a little bonus here i think this version of Into the Unknown would basically be miko's pre-shadowbringers song he'd sing at the exarch if ffxiv was a musical LOL and then for rage miko (because he does have a deep anger in him i mean what wol doesnt? lol) definitely Burn by 2WEI. and lastly, just gonna toss this one out there too, but i really like this version of The Musician as like basically something maybe his Azem and Hydaelyn would sing to him as a prayer i dunno lol

Y’all let me tell y’all about the absolute mess that is Love Royale.

In case you missed it, Fusebox released a new game this afternoon. Fusebox, the British company that makes Love Island the Game decided to try their hand at a game about the British royal family.

And it’s about as “good” as you can imagine. Obvious spoilers below.

Let’s hit the basics:

•MC (female main character but looks like there will be a future male option) is an American who is now living in London. Previously, she was a PR person for influencers. Now she’s decided to try her hand at working for Buckingham Palace as a member of the firm (because that elevation of careers is such a natural trajectory).

•The interview goes terribly. MC gets a ton of insta notifications letting her know that her ex is now engaged during the interview. Of course, she decides to check her socials while in the midst of said interview and has a chance to respond to social media while the interviewer (the Queen’s personal secretary) stares at her. My high school career center coach would pop a blood vessel if she saw that.

•She of course does not get the job. The secretary (Mr. Crawford?) tells her that the position has already been filled. Apparently some hotshot daughter of an ambassador was hired right before MC walked in, but they didn’t bother canceling her appointment. MC gets escorted out by said daughter of the ambassador who (in true Fusebox fashion) is bitchy and will be your new rival.

•As she gets escorted out, MC has a chance to meet Duchess Meghan Markle. (I’ll get to how the game portrays the royals in a sec).

•MC makes it outside the palace and is told by her best friend that there is a bunch of secret messages left behind by Princess Diana throughout the palace. Her friend suggests her sneaking about to find one since she’s already at the palace. MC decides that trespassing on what is one of the most secure buildings in London is a great idea because YOLO. No, seriously. She says YOLO at one point.

•At the stables, MC meets a mysterious guy named Rory who escorts her to Diana’s secret message. She manages to uncover a hidden message under the plank which mentions William. While there, Rory gets called off somewhere else and leaves her.

•As MC wanders around, she stumbles into a fight between Prince William and Prince Harry. The fight is over some secret between the two which ends when William takes a swing at Harry and gives him a shiner. MC snaps a photo of the moment and either posts it online or keeps it to herself when she gets caught by security.

•She is then arrested for trespassing and privacy violations. While arrested, she meets the second LI (forgot his name) who is a chef. He brings her food while Crawford steps out after threatening to have her thrown in prison. There’s a potential moment with the second LI where you can use his cellphone to talk to your best friend and check your social media to see if the photo went viral.

•Crawford then returns and tells her that someone wants to meet her. Princess Kate arrives through a secret entrance and decides to rescue MC. She heard about what happened and is impressed MC made the bold choice of posting a photo online of the royals fighting / or I’m guessing kept it private if you didn’t. She floats the idea that MC should be hired for PR anyway since she’s what the monarchy needs for their future.

•MC then gets to meet the rest of the Fab 4. They make their introductions and fight with each other about the Oprah interview. After their argument, they decide to take a vote over whether to hire MC or not. The vote is in a tie with Meghan casting the tie breaker to hire her.

•There’s then a chance to speak with either Kate or Harry in private before MC makes it back to Crawford. Crawford agrees to hire her since the Fab 4 are in agreement but on a trial basis. Apparently Queen Elizabeth will make some announcement in 14 days and MC has until then to impress the Firm and stay on permanently as an employee.

•From there, MC begins her trial run. She is tasked with helping William and Meghan choose things to auction off at a banquet for charity. She also has a moment to speak with Meghan privately (and do yoga with her) or speak with William privately (and ride a helicopter with him).

•The current episode ends with Rory (the first LI) taking MC to the throne room as he escorts her to her new room. In typical Rory style, he gets a phone call and has to step out. While he’s out, MC has the option to either sit on the Queen’s throne or stare at it.

•Of course, she gets caught doing whatever she chooses. Queen Elizabeth herself strides in with her corgis and tells her that she hopes she won’t regret what she just did before the episode fades to black.

That was a summary of the current 3 episode out. There will be a total of 14 in the game and they will be released on an unknown schedule similar to Love Island. I will be playing them when they’re out because, to quote MC, YOLO.

Now let’s talk Royals.

The game has the Fab 4 and Queen Elizabeth in its cast list. Each one has a very cartoonish personality.

•William is dressed in 18th century riding apparel and wears a gaudy crown in the animated cut scenes of him. He’s very into tradition and is quarreling with Harry over something. He dislikes Meghan and initially dislikes MC then slowly comes around.

•Kate is portrayed as an angel (seriously). Her animated sequence shows her with a halo and a singing choir. The game shows her as being the perfect wife and demure royal. She is the one who saves MC and takes an immediate liking to her.

•Harry is again in his bad boy persona. He seems more relaxed than the rest about protocol and quarrels with William over the treatment of him and Meghan. Fusebox seems to have a personal bone to pick with him and Meghan since his cut scene defines him as the one who “always complains and over explains.”

•Megan is portrayed as a semi-arrogant actress. She poses for photos constantly to the point where MC is confused and asks if she thinks she’s on camera. She also laughs at royal tradition and makes jokes about how she likes to break protocol like moving back to London with her family without telling anyone. The more default expression she has is a half smirk showing amusement.

•Each royal is a cartoonish character. They constantly bicker amongst themselves with shade being thrown about the Oprah interviews and the fight between Harry and William from his book. MC can either choose a side in their feud or try and advocate for them to reconcile for the Queen’s sake.

•Princess Diana is also mentioned frequently as she left behind secret messages around the palace. More than anything, this made me feel icky considering the game is using her as a plot point after she had such a tragic life and horrific death.

•Oh, and I almost forgot! The most surprising thing about this game is-

DID I MENTION EVERY ROYAL IS AN LI???

Yes, all of them! MC can flirt with any of them. She can have a moment with Harry or Meghan to flirt with them and can have her hand stroked by Kate or William. It seems the game is setting them up to be LIs as MC can even tell the royal stylist she has her eye set on a royal, and the stylist encourages her as it would make for a juicy scandal.

Curious as to how players will feel about that given these are real people, political figureheads, and married to each other.

As for the game itself:

The game is expensive. There’s very limited MC customizing options with only 4 skin tones, 4 hair styles, and 4 hair colors. The premium outfits cost between 20 to 70 (!) diamonds or more. You can choose to either dress up like Meghan or Kate depending on who you like most or forge your own style.

The premium scenes are higher than what Fusebox usually charges (17+ for private moments compared to Love Island’s 10).

And it runs on a ticket system which replenishes every so often. Asides from the extraordinarily high cost of premium stuff, it’s a standard Fusebox game in that regard.

So my final verdict:

It’s a hot mess.

Fusebox is a British company that is laying on the parody thick. MC is your typical cringy, influencer adjacent American in a world of British royalty where she can either follow royal protocol or break it and mend the rift between the family or cause more scandal. The royals themselves are cartoonish and love interests. The plot is still to be revealed given only the first 3 episodes are out but it seems to be blissfully short.

Really, it’s exactly the kind of game you’d expect Fusebox to produce.

My final thoughts?

I’m gonna keep playing.

It’s so, so cringe and bad that it’s amusing. If you treat it as one big drunk, fever dream, you can get through it and maybe it’ll keep you entertained for a bit.

Random EAH Headcanons

Non canon to my characters and pretty au ideas here folks

If they had any trends from modern times (let’s say the last 20 years):

Blondie 100% would’ve unironically been a drawn mustache on her finger chick

Briar screams YOLO every time she does something exciting and right before the beginning of a party

Maddie was the one to give the ENTIRE SCHOOL a lecture on not trying to claim to have severe medical issues for trends (especially lecturing them on mental illness)

Faybelle pretended to have just about every mental disorder in the book

alright outside of the trends now:

Faybelle is “terrible” to everyone, she doesn’t mean to be mean in any specific way except “evil” according to their society. She’s gonna be on you if you do something wrong to her, or annoy her, or she wants something of yours, but she won’t mess with you just cause you like someone, or you aren’t your intended gender, nah she’ll get vengeance cause you got the last doughnut flavor she absolutely loves. Faybelle is evil, not a monster.

Before Raven fixed what her mom did to Wonderland the Wonderlandians in Ever after would get together every year on the day it happened and have a full on Wonderlandian party to try and cheer themselves up, and they’d find the well and send things into it to hopefully reach their loved ones in Wonderland. Lizzie and the White Queen would always be the first and last.

Ever since Raven gave everyone their pages (in that weird directly to their souls kinda way) Cedar has been able to lie, and knows it, but continues to be honest cause she’s learned the value of truth...and also she wants to surprise everyone at graduation.

It took quite a while for Darling and Apple to talk about what happened at Dragon games and who woke Apple up... At first Apple just didn’t want to hear it cause “she just couldn’t be with a girl, her prince couldn’t be a princess, that was impossible!!!” Darling let Apple take her time with the information, but eventually they were able to talk and actually spend time together. Apple tried not telling her mom about exactly who it was that helped her, but with her mother being as manipulative as usual she told her. I imagine the conversation didn’t go amazingly, but I’m sure Snow White could recognize that Evil Queen simply gave Apple her destiny faster, therefore Darling was Apple’s prince charming. After speaking with the Charming parents the girls were made official.

Briar and Faybelle eventually properly talked and they agreed, they would not go through with fulfilling their destinies together, Briar didn’t deserve it.

Wonderlandians kids aren’t really on either side because they don’t really need to be. Alistair already lives in Wonderland, so he essentially goes through his story everyday, and depending on the version of Alice and Wonderland EAH is going with most characters just need to show up maybe once then leave.
