Yeah no I can't stop thinking about this. I need to get this extremely cursed theory out of my system. Let's just go.

Could Rayleigh and Shakky be Crocodile's parents?

So the thing is, I was gonna post about this like ages ago, but then I canned my original post. Because I realized that based on the timeline we have, for this theory to be true Shakky would've had to become pregnant at age 17 and given birth at 18 while Rayleigh was like 31. And needless to say, that's gross as hell. So yeah, I cancelled that original theory post because of that.

But then I realized that between Oda repeatedly treating 17 year olds as """not children""" in OP (see: Dragon literally saying Luffy isn't a child anymore at age 17), and other shit like how 16 year old Pudding was almost married to 21 year old Sanji

Like shit's creepy as hell. But alas, because Oda is Oda, it would actually fit in-universe. Like the theory is still fucking viable. Because fucking Oda, man.

And god fucking damnit the thought just keeps on haunting me. Because I am unironically curious whether or not this could be a genuine, viable theory. So yeah. I just need to get this theory out of my system. Let's just get it done with, alright

So what kind of started off this theory in my mind was remembering Buggy's off-hand comment/joke about Rayleigh being Luffy's uncle

Because that got me also thinking about some other, vaguely related theories, and like... Like we all know these theories, right;

that Luffy's mom is a Kuja (people speculate that's why Kuma sent him to Amazon Lily, that Luffy had a connection to the island)

that Crocodile has Kuja heritage (the Missing Empress is pretty much debunked but it is a popular, related and vaguely relevant theory too)

that Crocodile is Luffy's other dad

And I could not help but to wonder if these theories could somehow be combined together into one Giga Theory

And the funny thing is, we know that Rayleigh did marry a Kuja Empress, Shakky. Which actually does mean that the four theories could be mashed together. Like sure the other three theories could already be combo'd together but Buggy's theory would somehow really complement the other theories and bring them all together???

Of course, if Crocodad is real and Rayleigh turned out to be Crocodile's dad, then Buggy's comment wouldn't be fully accurate, since Rayleigh would be Luffy's other grandfather, not uncle. But it'd still be funny as hell in its own right, since the two would turn out to be blood-relatives. Like how the fuck was Buggy onto something there. Not to mention, as of now, two of Buggy's predictions in the Summit War Saga have already turned true (him becoming a Shichibukai and then a Yonkou, the only one that hasn't come true yet is him becoming Pirate King)

But indeed, if Shakky and Rayleigh were Crocodile's parents, then that would mean Crocodile would have Kuja heritage, it would mean Luffy's birthing parent was (technically) a Kuja, Buggy's joke would be kind of true and, yeah, Crocodad Real. That would be insane. We got a full fucken bingo over here

But then we have all these details to considder;

We know Shakky quit being the Kuja Empress and a pirate 42 years ago, when she moved to Sabaody and opened her bar. We don't know why she did this move, especially because at this point Rayleigh should've still been adventuring with Roger's crew

At that point, Crocodile would've been 4 years old

Based on Baby Croc's art, he isn't wearing Kuja clothes. If he had been raised in Amazon Lily then surely he would've been wearing their clothes*, but if he moved to Sabaody with Shakky and was raised there, then his get-up would fit in just fine

The trivia books claim Crocodile is a Grand Line native; regardless of if he was raised in Amazon Lily or Sabaody, both would add up

*(To be fair, if Oda had drawn Baby Croc in Kuja Clothes, that would've been a MASSIVE SPOILER to drop in an SBS. And Film Z did go out of its way to NOT include Baby Croc in the credits when all the other Baby Shichibukai were, so like, Baby Croc's art isn't Absolute Lore or anything, it is subject to change)

Indeed, if Shakky had decided to move out of Amazon Lily and went to Sabaody specifically knowing that if Roger's crew ever passed by then that would make sense, since it would mean she'd have an increased chance at seeing her husband again (if only briefly). It would also make sense if she moved out with her child and/or because she had a child, since it'd make it easier for her to ensure her child and the father could maybe get to meet and spend time together, as staying on Amazon Lily would've meant Rayleigh wouldn't have been able to enter the town even if he DID swam all the way there. (Also her options would've been to either leave her child behind or bring the child with her, and if she didn't want the kid to grow up in Amazon Lily for whatever reason then this would've been the perfect opportunity to remove that child from the island)

If Crocodile grew up in Sabaody then it could explain things like Baby Croc's serious expression and how he has a gun; there are dangerous people in Sabaody, the kid would've had to learn to defend himself from a young age (and I'm sure Shakky would've been happy to teach her child how to fight, since the Kuja are fierce warriors and being powerful is beautiful etc). It would also explain Crocodile's racism towards Jinbei, since anti-Fishman racism is a common issue in Sabaody. He would also have grown up in a place where slavery and other shit is a commonly known and seen thing, as well as the crimes of the Tenryuubito. This would explain a lot about his general attitude towards the World Government

Also, if both of Crocodile's parents were pirates, and his dad also happened to literally be on the ship of the Pirate King... Yeah it would explain his career choises. And why he had gone to Roger's execution too, since that would've been not just the Greatest Pirate In The World, but also his father's captain

And if these two were Croc's parents, it could explain his title; he could be "Sir" Crocodile because he is the son of an empress, or it could be a fucked up abbreviation from Silvers (note: it doesn't work like that in Japanese, since "sir" is like "saa" while "silvers" is "shirubaasu", but that's why I said "fucked up abbreviation")

Either way, his fullname would then be Sir Silvers Crocodile

A fitting name for a silver medalist, is it not

Also I'll throw this out there; don't want to put too much money on the whole "they look similar" thing due to Oda's same face syndrome, but there is an argument to be made about Oda's fem!Croc looking quite similar to Shakky, while if you squint your eyes, a younger Rayleigh could kinda look a bit like regular Croc (they even have the same haircut, awe), though it's hard to judge since we have so little art of young Rayleigh and old Rayleigh is, well, visibly much older than Crocodile

Really the only things I can think of that COULD debunk the idea are that Crocodile is MUCH TALLER than either Rayleigh or Shakky, and his bloodtype doesn't match (the two are A/AB while Croc is O). And my normal instinct would be like "if they were related then surely these details would add up because Oda is insane", but also. They are minor details. IDK man

Also, Crocodile aside. Shakky and Rayleigh have known each other for a long ass time, and Rayleigh's tendency to sleep around, it is entirely possible the two could have had a child at some point. And that really would explain why Shakky quit being an Empress. Like it doesn't even have to be Crocodile, it would just make sense if they had a kid and if that kid became the reason to Shakky quitting. The question is, who could that child then be?? And what happened to them??

Just like I suspected, the first thing Luffy asks after hearing Law's proposition is which Yonkou he wants to take down.

Luffy learned back in Water 7 Saga that Shanks is one of the Yonkou. Obviously he would rather not go against his role model and a man who saved his life.

But he also recently decided to kick Big Mom's ass and he doesn't know how the other two Yonkou are, so he would probably be okay with any other Yonkou than Shanks.

The final arc of One Piece will begin after Oda gets back from his month long break.

I had a sneaking suspicion this would happen as I read through Wano.

“Final arc” doesn’t mean One Piece is ending anytime soon. Wano took 4 years. If I had to take a shot in the dark, I’d say we’re in for 6 more years at least.

I’ve always believed the strawhats should get a redesign for the final saga. With Oda taking a month off, I have hope this will happen. Luffy is a Yonkou. Time for everyone else to look the part! I want to see the promo’s updated too. The post-time skip looks are no longer relevant.

Also curious to see if we’ll get to Elbaf? There’s so many loose ends to tie up. It’s impossible for Oda to get to them all.

I’m excited and a little sad for the final arc. I can’t wait to see what Oda has in store for us.

One Piece 1043 theory: Luffy still has the Gum-Gum fruit (kind of)

With the latest chapter it’s clear that something is up with Luffy’s Devil Fruit, and it’s almost certainly the one that was renamed by the World Government. Since then we’ve gotten tons of different theories about what Luffy’s real Fruit could be, like various mythical zoans, the Oil Fruit, and (probably the most plausible) the Resin Fruit. In fact, if my theory is wrong and Luffy’s Fruit really is just going to be another one the whole time, I’d say Resin is about as good as it gets.

Most of these theories seem to be based on the question of “what kind of Fruit could resemble Luffy’s abilities?” However, I want to ask “Why would Oda decide to give Luffy a new Fruit in the first place?” Because for most major characters Oda cares about the theming and meaning behind their powers to at least some extent. It’s the reason he decided to give Kaido a Fish Fruit instead of just a standard Dragon Fruit, despite dragon-type zoans already existing. He would absolutely care about this sort of thing for his main character, and no matter how I look at any of these theories, even the ones that “make sense” like the Resin Fruit, none of them fit Luffy’s character anywhere near as well as rubber does. He’s fun and playful, but always bounces back. Not to mention he’s been consistently associated with rubber and the number 56 (Go-Mu) so often that it would be incredibly jarring if that wasn’t at least half-true. Even in the current arc, Oda made Roger’s bounty 5.5 Billion just so Luffy could surpass it at 5.6 Billion.

However, there is one theme/idea that Oda has been building up over the course of the series, and in particular during the Yonkou Saga, that would fit Luffy just as well as, if not more so, than rubber. And that’s The Sun. Which brings me to the core of my theory.

I believe that the Devil Fruit that Luffy ate has two different abilities. The power of the Gum-Gum Fruit and the Sun-Sun Fruit.

I’ll go over how this could even be possible at the end (because I have two guesses), so for now I’m just going to focus on how I think this works both ability-wise and story-wise.

Ability-wise, It’s pretty simple. 95% of the abilities and traits that Luffy has shown are just him using the Gum-Gum Fruit as we’ve always known it. However, a few times he’s been able to tap into the power of the Sun-Sun Fruit.

His Red Hawk attacks are him coating his attacks in the fire of the sun

When Rubber is heated it’s elasticity increases, this explains how his Snakeman attacks can stretch seemingly forever

Finally the last panel of 1043 is the heat of the sun making his rubber body melt

More importantly, story-wise there are a bunch of reasons why Luffy being sun-themed would fit.

Ever since the current Yonkou saga began we’ve been hearing talk about “The Dawn of The World.” In other words, the return of “the sun,” which is very likely related to the return of Joyboy, which is happening right now seemingly because of Luffy’s Fruit

The Sun in general has been a symbol of freedom and liberation since at least Fishman Island. Which, by the way, is the first time learn about Joyboy AND the first time we see Luffy use Red Hawk

Luffy’s final opponent and evil counterpart is probably Blackbeard, a man with multiple abilities, the Dark-Dark Fruit and the Quake-Quake Fruit. The Sun and Darkness are obvious counterparts, but Rubber could survive the vibrations of Earthquakes similar to how it insulates electricity. Thus making Luffy and Blackbeard even more clear-cut foils than they already were.

Luffy’s other major endgame opponent is Fleet Admiral Sakazuki. Sakazuki killed Ace because “magma is hotter than fire.” But the sun is hotter than magma, showing how Luffy would be the natural enemy of the Marines

Luffy learning to master a “stronger” fire-type Devil Fruit would also represent him surpassing his brothers.

Luffy is being associated with “SUN GOD” Nika. Nuff’ said.

The Strawhat’s ship is the Thousand SUNNY

Finally, there are a bunch of theories, like the Resin theory, that are associated with trees (The Sun Tree Eve, the Adam Tree, a hypothetical Devil Fruit tree). Sun and Trees go together.

So now that I’ve explained why I think Luffy having both the Gum-Gum Fruit and the Sun-Sun Fruit makes sense, I’m going to guess at how I think it’s even possible. I have two theories.

First guess: I believe that Sun God Nika was the first person to eat two different Devil Fruits and survive. And when he died, the two fruits merged together when they were reincarnated. This makes sense to me because despite being associated with the sun, the one silhouette we see of him is drawn in a “rubbery” style. Not only that, playing into the themes of inherited will, the Sun-Sun abilities could represent Joyboy, and the Gum-Gum abilites could represent Nika.

Second guess: It’s possible that the Sun-Sun Fruit is just a really weird and special fruit even by Devil Fruit standards, just like it’s counterpart the Dark-Dark Fruit. It’s possible that every time it reincarnates it also copies and “disguises” itself as a random fruit. In one cycle it could be the Chop-Chop fruit, another cycle it could be the Sand-Sand fruit etc. This theory would explain why it took the World Government 800 years to track the fruit down, and it could lead to a neat scenario where Luffy meets the “real” Gum-Gum Fruit.

TL;DR Sun God Nika managed to eat two Devil Fruits, The Gum-Gum Fruit and the Sun-Sun Fruit (which was originally Joyboy’s Fruit). When he died the two fruits merged together and now Luffy has the power of rubber and sun.

Ok... so I was re-reading the SaNami saga again (Zou / WCI)

And I came across a certain panel that... I dont know... it actually made my brain stop working for a bit. (brain.exe has stopped working)

Was she listening to Zoro and the crew? Well yes cuz she shouted the moment he insulted Sanji didn’t she?

Was she listening to Pekoms and Bege at all? Where was she? Well her body was there but her mind definetly was not.

How was she expecting to get Sanji back if she is stressing out after hearing about Kaido and Big Mom?

Makes no sense...

No wonder it felt weird seeing how calm she was all the way to Totto land. At first I overlooked it because after everything that had happened, but this is why re-reading is useful.

So if Nami and I repeat NAMI!!! Did not think about the Yonkou’s crew... what the hell was she thinking about?!

She REALLY did not like the idea of him hiding something from her huh....?

Is there any other explanation? Since the start of their adventure, Sanji never lied to her once. He was always honest and straightforward with her to the point he would apologize before disagreeing with her. And now we see from Nami’s side, she does not have it in her to lie to him. She thought there were no secrets between them and that is what made her flustered and frustrated most of the time. Secrets from him are uncomfortable and worrisome.

Her mind was tunnel visioning all the way....

She really thought it would be a walk in the park, like “Sanji-kun! We came to get you” and he would be on board.

I guess that is the effect of Sanji being there to save the day many times before.

So maybe this is just me, but I always thought it was fairly obvious that Croc and Mihawk would be forced to get wrapped up in Buggy's renewed quest for the One Piece. Oda loves his comedy, and these two deeply self serious ex-warlords being forced into marching along with Buggy's outlandish antics because they screwed themselves by just rolling with Buggy being the political hate sink of Cross Guild in their place is top tier comedy. Like arguably the two most straight laced villains in all of One Piece have now put themselves in a situation where they are beholden to Buggy D Fucking Clown. I can't think of anything funnier.

Don't want to go too deep into this because I have talked about this before (mainly in the tags to other posts lmao) and while I agree it would be Objectively Funny if the two got dragged into Buggy's Quest for One Piece, it's just not what I personally want to see happen with these two characters, Crocodile especially

Like regardless of what Crocodile's been cookin' these past two years, clearly he has his own plans and goals to reach, and I want to see what those are and how they'll pan out

And I'm just not interested in Cross Guild entering the Race for One Piece, Luffy already has Shanks to compete with (along with? Blackbeard?? Law and Kid??), so adding these idiots into the mix feels so unnececary, the race is already crowded so adding these washed up losers feels like an absolute waste because we know they CAN'T win. And even if Buggy somehow managed to beat Luffy in the race (like to be fair he did accurately predict himself becoming a Shichibukai and a Yonkou during Marineford, the only prediction Buggy's made that hasn't become true yet is him becoming Pirate King), the comedy gold aside... I'm just not interested in seeing the story pan out like that

Like between Cross Guild's bounty on Garp's head (who is currently in Blackbeard's hands), the incoming Seraphim and the Romancing SaGa 2 implications for Crocodile and whatever the fuck his mysterious backstory is... Yeah I just think there's more interesting directions the plot could develop in
